While true, they've run Disappearing Act many times since it first came out. There's no reason to believe they'll stop, so that cloak can finish the event this time, and hoarding enough tets can finish the events every other time.

You can use normal ships without mantis involvement, and there's an interesting mechanic about the scoring card in that you don't even need to be in the system. Some players are smashing realtas into bases for 3pts a loss.

I would like to say that todays event Disappearing Act, should be called Disappointing Act.
Normally every event has some easy roundabout way to complete it, if you don't have the officers/ships/whatever needed, like with the mantis event from yesterday. This one, if you don't have a cloaking ship, you are SOL and double SOL if you are Federation, as you don't have an easy way to a cloaking ship.
It would have been nice to have a way to make up for this. It feels very exclusionary

Why is my mantis cargo quadruple and interceptors don’t barely spawn anymore, and very few with exos anymore

Your cargo is not quadruple. The Apex are spawning fine and there's still as many buff hostiles.

I had 19k with the Stonns and two cargo exos. Now I have 45k with just the two Stonns.

It was the best possible improvement they could have and absolutely needed to make.

Took me 36 minutes to fill twice including warp time. Although I am using 5 and have the double loot prime lol.

It's still not. You only need to choose what you want. You don't need to double everything. I'm doing double ship bits and singles of the others. It's not a big issue at all.

Yes. But the kicker is, straight out of the box, these officers are better at the grind than maxed PMC/PBC if you have a couple below deck slots. They can't kill the biggest easier but they can kill the mediums and smalls all day long. Hemmer is now the best faction grinder in the entire game.

The problem with your responses to me and since then is that you’re taking the “pull yourself up from the bootstraps approach”. Thing is, this game asks for way more money than the quality of the product you get back.

If we were on par with something like elder scrolls online or any other number of MMO games with actual quality behind them and more stable updates and new content releases you could maaaaaaybe make a case for some of the pricing. Look at the product we get and consider that what a lot of people on here consider ftp are people who still buy a monthly subscription to the game via a basic battlepass at the least.

And for a lot of stuff it’s not even the argument of paying more gets you there faster… paying is the only way to source some things in even the most far reaching sense of the phrase of long term planning, and many other things are built around the only way people will get them is spending.

There has to be a balance of cost vs actual quality product, this game hasn’t been there for a good long while, if ever.

That said, I'm only a level 32 so no luck for me on the new Mantis refinery and all the goodies that could have gotten me. Based on my event loot, I know I can purchase enough shards to tier all my SNW rares but will not have enough, nor feel I could win enough, to tier SNW Pike to the next level. My question is, would it be better to tier the 4 rare officers or get Pike to ~75% to the next tier? Your help and advice is greatly appreciated!

Once you get a Mantis, you'll be able to source the SNW officers pretty well through that refinery, so I would honestly use that event loot elsewhere, maybe you have a specialty ship that needs some hard-to-get parts?

I already got my second Stella and also both pulls of the bellow deck to finally get Mariner (needed 7 shards). Everything else is going to officers.

Yeah I really wouldn't bother with those officers. One, because they're just not very good except in very specific circumstances on unique ships against the unique hostiles. They're dreadful against any normal hostiles compared to the traditional hostile crew. And two, they will only really become relevant against them once you're over level 50 and Chen no longer works and by that time you'll have them all regardless.

And that's with Ortegas at T2 and 40k health for him lol.

They're absolutely useless for normal hostiles. For Swarm and Borg or other hostiles where the special ship is doing 90% of the work, they're great. But I still don't use them because the normal crews do more than enough for me already.

This officer set is optional until Ops 50+, unless someone is just starting out and doesn’t have the Pike/Moreau combos. You have a million years to tier them outside the event store…what else do you need?

Really, outside from crystal, and who doesn't have a crystal need, I need better officers. I got all my WANT ships the last event that was similar to this one a few months back. I could get the weapons shards or special currencies for Syndicate XP but I feel that the officer route is my best bet. That is why I seek and welcome all advise. Thank you!

If you have Pike, Moreau, Chen and T'laan then there's not even any point wasting event store bits on the SNW officers because you'll never use them.

You'll probably want more ship development than you believe. I'd consider going for ship parts over the options already discussed, and more bps will save a bunch of time later on.

The dvor-to-feesha pipeline & lat production will take you hours of mining a week, and grabbing dvor parts/bps now is worthwhile.

SDCs for disco will lead to a faster tiering, and allows you to hoard the refinery tokens for claiming post 40 when they gain massive value.

My iso & green data needs also puts value into the multiple ships I have for those, but that's probably server-dependent on how protected your origin space is.

Mantis will dwarf event store income on syndicate xp, so I'd ignore it. Trait xp will significantly boost ATA development for lat/credits/ship bps, and that's pretty high value. T1 SNW for the G3 player is great, more than that is probably unnecessary since they're so niche and easily available later. G3 mats has a low exchange rate, and you have several strong sources of that already with a huge refinery boost in a couple levels.

This is really helpful. Ops46 player and really struggling on what to buy. Had considered projectiles, but dismissed those. Was then considering syndicate xp / traits but you make good point re the former and I’ve already boosted the ATA officers re the latter.
Have spent some to get SNW Spock to T2 as it was only a few shards away, but am back to now also considering uncommon crystal. Realise it a bad exchange rate but perhaps reflects how important uncommon is for low spenders who need to focus on core game progress.
Still thinking and any advice welcome.

My post was for that G3 player, but some concepts apply still for G4. Ship development is still important, and a focus on the mining fleet to save time is where I prioritized.

My Feesha is T9 now, though T8+w is enough if you want to save eggs, which gets me the range for the medium-term future. My clat needs are 550k/day and I don't want to mine for most of the day, so will push dvor/feesha bps.

Cerri to T5 can unlock some weekly events, it's a hugely poor exchange, but will certainly use up excess eggs. It's on my list, but I have stronger immediate needs than the rewards from 12-20w of those events before the next end of arc event store.

In general though, you're starting to run into the problems that high grade players have been complaining about: low value returns from the event store that have cost a month's worth of event rewards. You'll get to augment your mining fleet, but there's just not much meat there otherwise.

Something regular would be better, and some announcement on what things should be hoarded.
Personally I think they make too much of ‘events’, particularly during arcs. Would be better to reduce these as they are mainly a rehash of existing game play, and just add in weekly / monthly tasks that cover these items. Would reduce pressure at event reset, and would provide players with a more stable income and also more structure around what they choose to do, or ignore, and more flexibility around when a player can complete the task.
Events can then be redesigned around activity that is directly linked to the arc that’s running.

this entire arc has been a mess. non-mantis owners left out initially from most events. took a while to get something sorted out midway through arc. typical release of a ship or officer or event that was not thoroughly tested or thought out before release.....again and again. again no resources in events to help repair our ships for all the hostile killing we've had to do and just fly by the seat of your pants reaction from scopely rather than being proactive, once again. releasing officers that only work on one specific ship class and throwing in events that aren't even tied to that ship class but required to use those officers. refinery update was more of a slap in the face and not what we asked for as it still mostly gives common materials for all the raw we're required to input. ships don't upgrade on common materials alone, scopely.....

I've no complaints about the refinery improvement. I'm getting significantly better payouts. The main problem with that is people's expectations were ridiculous. Expecting it to be completely game changing was unreasonable.

And let's face it, they could have done literally anything and people would still moan about it. We're all getting a lot more out of it than we were previously and that fits in exactly with their describing it as an "improvement." That's exactly what it is.

I see the refinery as fairly inconsequential to my gameplay. Anything that comes out of it is a bonus, but events and the BP are where it's at.

And another thing most disagree on but I find material income to be pretty much fine. I wouldn't want everything to happen instantly, where would be the fun in that? It's much more rewarding when you can finally tier a ship or something like that when it took a lot of time and effort. I buy a lot of packs but I never buy packs specifically for resources or materials.

Yes, but the time and effort don't scale proportionally or have a proportional payout, which gets painful. The crystal for guns for a T6 d4 felt absolutely insurmountable when I was first looking at it. I felt relieved, and then let down when I finally got them done. It didn't really change much about the ship.

It's counted as real enough money to get a full unlock of one of the new rare officers for at least the last six months, and at least two official content creators have stated that that would be the same this month for one of the strike team rares (just not which one). 🤷

Full unlocks on both rare officers was doable with the cheap battlepass. The problem is people toss all their event tickets at the first day of ticketed events each time it came up and didn’t wait and focus on the events that awarded the strike team officer each day.

i still have 3 uncommon tickets left. problemis, this arc, they didn't add the ticket events to the calendar or the in game event news section. So we have no idea if another will run this weekend or not.

I don't think thats accurate. I completed the events bar one set (so missing 1 shard from each), have the elite battlepas and im only at 32 for St una & 30 for Ortega at ops 39 (not counting extra 2 for una from overflow rewards)

Oh, I agree there are and we’re communication issues. There was an entire post either here on discord or in station bulletins saying strike team la’an would be fully recruitable if people had the elite pass and participated in all her events.
If you didn’t finish top 3 in her recruiting event you will finish 5-7 shards short at the least as of right now.
And that notice is gone

I didn’t buy anything regarding strike una or ortegas, I’m done with both as unlocks as of yesterday and today.
I don’t remember any sort of alb for shards for them but maybe that was the difference.

Missed events? There were some events tucked away behind added clicks that rewarded shards that if you didn’t look at the rewards you wouldn’t have even thought they were related to officer sourcing.
