This is another example of how Scopely tries to force us to spend more.

If you're a whale, you get a CSR assigned. You have a problem? You go to that individual. You aren't getting satisfaction? You can escalate in the private whale Discord.

Don't spend enough to earn your own CSR? Type stuff to a chat bot and never hear about it again. No fix, no escalation, no updates. Just a waste of time.

Let's see, if I had total power over the game direction, what would I do?

Well day 1, I'd roll back the AT changes, roll back leslie changes, announce a Tick/Tock cadence where we do a big new content release followed by a minor content + major bugfix release back and forth so old bugs don't linger, I'd implement every feature from the Community Mod so that isn't needed anymore and probably hire the people maintaining it to just code for the game, and I'd take half a month to just focus on top player bugs/problems and cutting daily administrative stuff (i.e., collecting stuff) to <5 minutes.

I'd also immediately halve the G5 scrapping time and double the rewards, while making clear that's not finalized. It's just a quick, immediate pain easing. And I'd bring back choice tokens immediately.

In fact, easiest thing to do as a mea culpa is to reactivate the last choice token event store and give everyone their OPS worth of tokens from a completed BattlePass. Long term, that's a fairly minor give. But I think the players would react extremely well

I think long term, I'd take the market approach to it: implement a dynamic pricing algorithm that prices up higher demand BPs and ship parts and price down ones less in demand. Let the players themselves determine what the value of those things are by their own actions - in how they choose to spend limited currency in event stores.

I just looked it up, each of the 800+ planets in Starflight had an explorable surface of ~65,000 surface positions. All the terrain was generated deterministically on the fly as you moved. Lol

So across all the planets, about 52 million coordinate cells just on the planets, not including flying around in space. For a game released originally in 1986. I played it on the Sega Genesis in 1991.

I can't even explore one planet in STFC in 2026 🙁

I never understood their rules.

1. Don't feed it after midnight - Definitionally, every second of every day is "after midnight". This is literally impossible and this animal will starve to death. Also, midnight where? Is it local to your timezone? Does it matter if your county does or does not do Daylight Saving Time?

2. Don't get them wet - we live on a planet permeated by water nearly everywhere. Clearly some level of water is safe or else humidity would immediately spawn offspring. But how much? Is 60% humidity okay but 90% is bad? Is it total exposure or localized concentration that matters? If Gizmo is in the bathroom while I'm showering, is the steam going to set him off? What if he becomes significantly cooler than the surrounding air and condensation forms on him? Is it only liquid water? Can he hold an ice cube? A snowball if it doesn't melt?

These rules seem very convoluted and entirely too complex for a teenage boy to manage.
