I guess some people are just too jaded to at least see it for what it is. At least they recognized that many people use him for something specific and actually made a corresponding change to try and offset the change they felt was needed. Will it work for everyone... no. Different players have different outcomes. Differnt ships, differnt buffs, differnt favors, etc. Is it great... no. Are they doing it for nefarious reasons.... who knows if their bs reason is true. Id say its at least a draw. They made a change, and they made a positive offset for the majority of those that this change effects. Does it make all their other mess ups right? NO. But its something that I can take away as a partial win for hundreds of other players that were in the same place I was. Will we agree. No. But I know at least 2-3 dozen players on my server that this will help immensely..... because honestly, Leslie is a half-rate officer that only had one use, so losing his abilities at my ops level is not the end of the world.

to be honest, at high ops Leslie was most effective, because you have so much from research and stuff, that you can forfeit officer spots for plain hull restore. While at lower levels this trade off doesn't pay, because you still need to use better officers

One thing the STFC Conmunications Team excel in is creating BS reasons why they have to nerf things in game which are beneficial to players. No one believes these explanations and reducing the pts milestones to + and -1 simply ignores that a lot of players in the game can’t kill Orion’s full stop without using Leslie crew. I haven’t used that crew for years, but if I needed it to kill Orion’s this change wouldn’t make me rebalance the economy it would make me quit the game. Your continued erosion of trust/brand loyalty of the game would make Gerald Ratner proud

leslie has always been a unique officer that had good use in very limited situations. You guys made content that was so hard that people needed Leslie even if it meant certain death every combat (so we could at least get one win per hull). Retroactively changing an officer to not work and make it level locked to hostiles however is just changing the product that people paid for which is not okie dokie. I understand Leslie is broken but that's how it was on implementation and that's on scopely they just have to live with it. They can't just retroactively change it to make it the way they want it to

Really have trouble seeing this perspective, most active players used Leslie to complete content that appeared intentionally unbalanced to force players to spend.
The 70’s used him to complete SMS’s that otherwise would be impossible without spending massive amounts of money…
The 60’s used him for the same reason…

The 40’s used him in the same way..

they made an underlying change to how officer mechanics work, this caused a bug with leslie that made his healing "stick" after battle.
this meant the "victory but your ship is destroyed" mechanic became "your ship is restored to full health if it takes too much damage"

From the first day that VGer Orion’s were released the player complained that they were too hard and Leslie crew was the only option for many players.
Scopely could have listened and fixed the hostiles, but chose to ignore the players.
Now due to an unrelated problem, they nerf Leslie, because their designers couldn’t work out how to fix the one issue they were worried about.

I've been playing this game for at least two years. Im ops 67 (32d to 68), and can honestly say that I never even heard the name Leslie till I hit Ops 67 shortly after the V'Ger Orions were introduced. I could kill dozens of 66's... huraks, gorn, silent... but not a single 67 Orion. Still can't. I never needed him or any of the other punching up officers. When I got shards I didn't care... they just got shuffled away and when I saw that was ready for upgrade, I would click it out of repetition. I did not know what he was for until I watched a Rev Duece video after the Orions were suddenly giving me trouble and I searched for advice. My point..... is that I never needed a punch-up specific crew... Silent Enemies, Aggregation, Xindi, Gorn etc, etc, etc. I crewed for the enemy and hit at my level. If I wanted to punch up I would re-work my crew, look for buffs, hull-plating, good all-around officers....until I could. Ive even had to explain to other higher ops people in my own alliance what a cheez-it or whatever crew is. Just because hes in a refinery means nothing. Who's Pan?

So because someone got giddy and hit too many 0's on the dilithium 1B tokens, they rolled back the rewards which broke the BP. Then because they introduced a poorly planned buff, they punish the players by limiting his use to 51 and under... the sense was not in the room during this decision making process
This is after weve had;
- The contradictory information on G5 scrapping; forever it has been said it shouldn't be a progression tactic, now its aimed at progression. But, if someone has played cleverly and done well with CE you get punished with lower matt returns.
- Removing the little autonomy we had with choice tokens and depot tokens. After choice tokens were introduced as a brilliant addition in update 72, specifically to give players choice. Depot tokens becoming an RNG pot luck is just insulting
- yet another loop, bringing us to 9 new loops since IA was introduced in update 72 to reduce the grind, youve increased it
- completely ignoring what the player base asks for; improved stability, quality over quantity, less grind heavy events/arcs (which we were promised)
- spend months pushing for quicker player progression, only to completely break the few ways that actually helped progression
Call me crazy, but wouldnt it be an idea to sense check changes/additions for this exact reason before you introduce them? Anyone who purchased the BP should be given an apology and a refund/equal amount pack of choice for this absolute shambles of an arc. Unlock all tracks to everyone and return to normal next time round. Anything else does not remedy this appropriately
Now we wait for the next influencer circa 2016 style apology video, or will they cop out and just post a letter again?

We made a change to combat system which impacted a number of officers not working, but one of those officers Leslie became player beneficial so ofc we had to change it.
We investigated a way to revert his ability under the new combat engine...
But we didn't consider go home cannons, hyperthermic decay or hazard mechanics...
So we spent 2 months coding totally new triggers and code.....and completely changed how the officer worked.
Sorry every content creator in our program we didn't consult you on changes, now all your content is also wrong and will impact your income and ours.
All because we couldn't use existing mechanics....
