I'll be honest, I like the idea of trying to bring back players who had quit. I don't think there's anything wrong with that, but the problem is the timing. Comes across as so tone deaf to release that now. STFC has been a roller coaster of stability and lag for almost a year going all the way back to last summer. Little to no consistency in terms of improved performance, and now we drop a feature to bring people back to the game? Why? I get it if the major issues have been fixed it would actually be a great idea. I'm not naive to think that any MMO/F2P mobile game is ever going to be perfect. There will always be instability issues that arise, but this has been pretty consistent. I don't know, I do think there are ways that STFC is significantly better now than it was two four or six years ago. But what a crummy time, in my opinion, to make an event and mechanic asking us to recruit former players to come back.

Sure feels like a "choice" in the arc where Scopely doubled down in showing F2P are gutter trash to them OH. I doubt F2P will feel encouraged to invite people when the new ship has an effectual unlock time of 200 days instead of 100 days and that's assuming they drop the maverick upgrade path.

Well Scopely has become desperate, some squirrel really believes that bribing players to beg former players to return to the game is somehow going to miraculously pull their ass out of the fire. This is the same company that decided that 200 days is a much better unlock time than 100 days for ships in the same arc where they're begging us to recruit players who have left the game back, it's even an ingame SMS. I think encouraging players to play STFC falls under cruel and unusual punishments but that's another discussion.

The tech probably isn't there for STFC, but in other games, they would have changed up the Sol system to have a bunch of Borg assimilated ships there and an assimilated Earth (for the people of the correct level for the arc).

this has to be the worst client update. did not update since March 10, but was forced to with error on start-up. so many jitters, stuck on loading/transition screens, opening any system is taking a few seconds. this is a new low. the client till march 10 was at least usable but these UI glitches on basic activity is just making me pull my hair

And Scopely has yet to prove me wrong. I'll update the game and log in but somehow I doubt I'll see much (if anything) from #⭐-official-announcements message has been implemented. Last I asked there's no G5 scrapping, bulk refinery hasn't been added to the faction tab, waves and outposts are still messing up, the kir'shara is still unreliable,.... I'd like this game to be good since I like the community but Scopely seems intent on putting more effort into gaslighting us into "the game really isn't that bad" than actually ensuring the game isn't that bad.

Okay... the plea to recruit people who had given up on the game to return was the final blaring red siren for me. Combined with a f2p path that is 2x as long as previous specialty ships to "enjoy" the new content (another hostile grind--super!), I have reached my limit. I thought I would have sooner, but I can be a bit thick. I'm going give this arc a pass, throw up a long shield, and see if I miss playing at all. 🖖

It actually makes me angry, Star Trek has such a loyal fanbase and our expectations aren't that high but Scopely seems to actively be trying to run this game into the ground. I could give CM plenty of suggestions on how to improve the game but I know it's useless as Scopely has 0 intentions of actually meeting the "quality over quantity", "fighting gametime bloat" and other similar pledges. How utterly tonedeaf does a company have to be to expect people to ask players who jumped ship back to the game with the message of "Good news everyone, if you come back today you'll see they've doubled the F2P unlock path for the new flavour of the month tool. Isn't that so much fun?".

Depends on how you parse the text. My take is, it has an 80% chance of applying 100% Hypothermic Decay + Instantly kills any non-borg sphere ship. You're using the Sphere, so the second part doesn't apply, but the first part does. So you die 80% of the time.
