Interestingly I'm f2p and don't devote endless time to stfc but am ops 56 with the ability to go to 69 quickly. The g5s are expensive for mats but the progression through the 50s is the fastest imo

there is no reason for stalling natural ops progression until you reach g6, yes. you should not rush and not overspend materials in ships as you will get newer ones pretty fast, but intentional camping is no longer valid

Camping is not valid, since you have zero problems with hostiles, loops or anything due to power creap. If you want to camp for some arena games you can also stop progression for that at all. But it is not valid for any progression oriented gaming. It is valid for arena seal clubbing or personal choise.

PM strips piercing stats, so T3 moreau means perfect mitigation for almost all content. And pike with synergy is a 2.2x modifier to the 3rd officer's OA, that's one of the most incredible 2-person bridge crews you can make in this game.

Janeway and SNW fight in a different way, they load damage onto the shields. If you have enough shields, you're able to put the majority of damage onto a regenerating resource. Note that PM is capable of the same with wCarol, and that's why she's one of the most broken officers for pve.
