it's not even that the hull to hostile ratio is bad ( well, it's bad but it's not much worse than normal ), there's always a 'kill new hostiles' event when there's a new ship and the ratio is never good if you don't have the new ship, but the event is not normally this demanding

faction hunt takes a while, but i don't even burn through one hull if i run all three factions to completion. it also doesn't involve sitting around waiting for specific hostile types you can reach before the higher ops swarm them.

a big wave of spending players quit years ago as they noticed the event rewards were not worth it. this was years ago and nothing has improved since, it's only gotten worse, i don't think scopelys plan is to keep players, just to get new ones on the hook who become addicted and have to spend to feed that addiction.
