FWIW I think 3v3 will (as long as you’re not a muppet and don’t still call for that “whale carry”) help with the matchmaking to bring the number of matches up meaning there is a higher chance of a better match.

In the most delicate way possible Scopely don’t see value in pitching whales against muggles because the whales don’t need to rage spend to batter muggles - they just send their miners and laugh.

The closer the whales match the more they’ll buy packs to beat the other whales.

That is how this works.

The question you have to ask yourself is do you want the Scopley that releases something, sees the community make suggestions on how to improve it and thinks, “ha, sucks to be you guys”?

A whale has less effort in controlling 3 opponents instead of 5.
Where should 3 players have an easier time against whales? 5 can at least try to use a speed advantage and strategy.

The higher chance of a better match is not guaranteed at all - and I personally would like to see the matchmaking algorithm first.

What I've seen so far is fast matchmaking. We didn't had to wait long for the enemy squad but often it was totally unbalanced.

That said, yes - you’re right. But your argument is predicated on each team having a single whale. In 5v5 there’s a strong possibility that there’s a second whale 🙂 if not a third.

One whale in 3v3 has to shoot 9 ships. Two whales in 5v5 each whale only needs to worry about less than 8 ships.

they had two options, either increase the 7up/7down range or reduce the size of the squads. They chose the squad approach. Also the 2min repair time is the monetization piece of this content, Scopley has to make money on new features, this is how they make it on Arenas. I think it is better than having to buy tokens to enter the arena.

I think we need to wait and see how the matchmaking is effected by the 3v3. Maybe it will be better. 🤷‍♂️

The main issue is you're going to be hitting the 53 zones at the highest with your pilum if you got kirk at 14 on his warp skill

won't have the warp for anything higher without scarificing an officer slot and even then ghrush won't push you much farther

so it seams efficacies cost as much to get as buying the packs without the efficiencies so to max a ent -a would cost around $6400 but with $600 in efficiencies would then cost $2200 then if I had more efficinties say $2000 worth I would only need about $800 in packs

but after bought the efficeities you no longer need to buy them again and you still have you pack savings meaning future upgrades cost less leading to paying for the efficiens in the future
