Generally the advice is to skip over 40 as fast as possible, as it’s a dead zone where spend event milestones shift to g4 scoring, but almost nothing needs uncommon g4.
Skipping straight to 42 is difficult. These days you may have to level quickly as some of the new loops are very difficult at 40-41 with a g3 epic.
I don’t remember how much uc 42 took, but you can stock up a little by scrapping 26s while at 39. In the old days it was easier to just go to 41 and collect them from events.

The way I've came to understand it is simple : if you're going to 40, might as well go to 41, if you're going to 41, might as well go to 42, etc etc until you're ops 80 (or even 90 by that time) and then build the epic there 😆

Little late here, but 41 you can refine uc 4star, 42 you can build a uc 4star ship and get prime crit damage and get angel in disguise mission to get +10 warp range to ships, 43 you can refine rare 4star, 44 you can get rare 4star bps ships in ata store, 45 you can refine epic 4star, 46 you can build rare 4star ships

Even if you want solos. I easily cleared the entire Bajoran loop with a T5/6 Pilum, Tally and Defiant. With ops locked Tally I do enough in FKR madas to outrun G5 cooldowns. The other solo loops need strong specialty ships, and whatever else you bring is just there to take a few hits while the specialty ship kills it.
Xindi I’m not bothering with until 56, I don’t do grinds. There’s nothing there I actually need anyway, I’m obliterating dailies and events as things are.

For me, the timing of the kill limit was too sus to be unrelated to G5 progression that they had just unlocked. Aggressive whales were building multiple pilums and consuming content far too quickly and on pace to finish the race to 60 in short order. Slowing down progression means selling more packs.

You could DM Hammy, he might be able to sort something with getting the option to buy pushed out to you, unfortunately while CS have been known to be able and willing to remove 4k broken rods in exchange for the treasury content, I don't think they're even capable of sorting out which packs are available to players 😐

it always has been high but I can't recall so many people in one of the highest brackets struggling to even participate in the content like we see with the low 50's versus silents or the absurd xindi grinds unless you've a massively higher ship tier than was the norm before. It was certainly bad before but it has gotten noticeable worse.

I have conflicting feelings about all that. One of my favorite Marvel IPs is the Inhumans (comics, obviously) -- my family has been doing Black Bolt, Medusa, Ahura and Lockjaw (+ a friend as Crystal) for years. But Marvel internal drama totally messed that up on screen and it dated back to their Inhumans lite on that show.
One of my husband's favorite con antics is to pose with a Cap and pretend he's screaming (nothing like a little destroying the world for fun LOL)
