Older APK may get you into the game long enough to throw up a shield. But it’s not risk free…the data moving between client and server changes with each update…the longer you stay inside an old version, the higher the odds of something catastrophically bad and unrecoverable happening.

It's never happened for this long in my 5 years of playing. While iOS has (arguably) had the most update issues, all those issues were update-related, and were fixed within 24-48 hours. Even PC on launch was not this horrendous. The issue with Android is it's engine-related. Whole bigger ballgame. It gets even worse as you realize the engine runs the super-fragile code of STFC. Even the slightest bug can crash everything. If Scopley is still working on this, they have to be methodical...and that could take weeks or more...

There's been at least two other Samsung "oops" moments that I remember, though the ones I remember were triggered by updates pushed by Samsung (or just new devices in the line) rather than scopely at the time.
For a premium brand they sure do like to muck around with the os

Anyone on an s7 was locked out for a chunk of time a couple of years ago, and anyone updating to Android 10 or 11 on a Samsung (can't remember which os it was) were locked out too

Don't get me wrong here, it's definitely something to do with how scopely are using the engine (but an older one - 2020 - wasn't this bad on some devices previously), and it might be down to market share, but if there's an android specific issue, most of the time it's Samsung, and it's because they add their own twist to the base OS 🤷

But most phone makers put something extra into basic android OS, even the Google pixels do, but then things designed to work for the generic one (unity!) can run into issues and conflicts with changes to the underlying api.
Scopely are probably using it in a weird way of course which won't help 🤣

That is technically known as version regression. And is easily managed with development tools available. However scopley doesn’t even invest in a testing platform, except the live game I guess, so I can’t imaging the cheapskates would do that either.

The Unity engine is the problem. Before this, my Samsung phone (has the Android system needed to run STFC) ran STFC just fine, but it's been unable to run the game ever since they started using the Unity engine.

Today I completed my sponsorship with Streamelements x Scopely. Streamelements is a complete SCAM and do NOT pay out. Right after (how convenient) I worked really hard and the 'sponsorship' ended, it gave me this message 'Unfortunately, this campaign ended before you were able to achieve its minimum goals.' I immediately made a ticket and sent it to them. Not very long later they replied they did a 'in-depth' investigation and they cancelled my payout, WHAT?! How can you even do a 5 minute 'in-depth' investigation? Not even providing any proof (cos there is none) and closing my ticket like that.
Star trek guys I am not blaming you, I am just asking if you want to be connected to a scam company like Streamelements. I doubt you know that they are stealing content creators money as on your side they're most likely saying the campaign is completed and collect the money all for themselves.

In the screenshot is the payment I was supposed to get. I actually put in my own time and money to make this campaign a success. I actually PAID for it and expected some ROI in return for my work. And this is how I get repaid. There's countless stories of them and of course I read those after I got scammed by them.

There are multiple interconnected dependencies to successfully package a game…the engine version, the OS version, the API used to access the OS, your own build pipeline…it absolutely is possible to put yourself in a position where these are not compatible with each other. Fixing that can be anywhere from a quick search on stack overflow to rebuilding your build pipeline and repackaging the assets. Only Scopely knows (or at least can know) how deep this hole is for them.
