Yes of course. The A13 is completely fine. It’s obviously not a high end gaming phone… but definitely more than enough for the average user.

So what basically happened is that Google Play pushed out a new set of Unity Plugins. These plugins provide APIs. API simply means that Unity and Google Play can communicate with each other, although being two different Platforms. Now Google uses PAD which is Play Asset Delivery. It contains no code but necessary components for the game like shades, sounds and texture. Googles PAD uses a version higher then 2.0. That’s the requirement. Unity 2021 communicates with PAD but on version lower than 2.0. That’s what is causing the crash. It’s miscommunication. There’s either a file/directory missing (means the app constantly spews error because “file is missing”)or the versions miscommunicate because each version has a different way of migrating data.

The workaround is to either downgrade PAD to 1.7 or lower or to add an so called snippet so the folders and directories stay empty but still exist which is enough for the different versions not to go crazy and create “no such thing” errors. So when you add a .Close() correction that should do it.

But again google play is upping their requirements and so every time they do this there’s a high possibility of modules crashing.

The thing is that this issue was fixed in a Unity version of 2023. However months later the same error appeared again 😅 so Unity would have to constantly keep up with Google Play Requirements

They normally would yes! However it’s not a wave with a magic wand to create high complex engines like Unity or Unreal. Although Unity is much easier tho. I guess they just cannot keep up with the speed of the release of PAD. If you check the link here you can see that Android releases a new version almost every month. So Unity would have to update their stuff every month as well which would be crazy.

Well Unity is really good! It’s easier to learn and has tons of good features. Also, Unity engine upgrades don’t happen that often. So it is fine in the grand scheme of things.

You may have seen that apps get updates regularly after time to time. It is "mostly" because there is a new Android OS that just has launched. Now when an app is developed it is kept in in mind that the app should be able to run on "maximum" of devices. But if you try to make your app to able to run on maximum number of devices you have to compromise on many of the new features provided by new Android OS. So most of the time apps are made and to use all new features of new Android OS they have to compromise full compatibility.

So apps gets updated for the latest Android OS in market but your phone's OS is still the same. And therefore there comes a small factor of compatibility and to overcome it your processor has to work more. Some phones are more stable to bugs than others… simply put

The thing is that neither Google nor $copely can do much about it. It’s all bout the devs at Unity. I hope that $copely is working with the devs at Unity to solve this issue.

I mean that if it is a reoccuring issue for unity they should change things so they're able to keep up with the PAD changes since if I understand you right this issue'll only become more frequent since the PAD version is moving ahead while unity is lagging. Correct me if I'm wrong but won't it also become even more problematic once support for 2021 ends since then scopely likely won't be able to get any fixes for it?

It most likely will. Sure $copely could roll back the Unity Engine Version, but then they’d have to rewrite every bit of code… especially the new content that was released would have to be rewritten to work in tandem with another Unity version. That’s a lot of work… plus going back to another Unity version might result in even more lag, since older Unity Versions are less fine tuned.

Well the newer versions of Unity have that bug as well. So there’s no win win scenario yet unless Unity finds a permanent solution. Plus another Unity 2023 license cost’s additional money and might make things worse 👀

I can only speculate as to the decisions made at $copely HQ. I have available data on the rest of the issue tho. Moving to Unity 2023 would not solve it. There’s a Unity version of 2023 that has been temporarily fixed but it’s running out of support as well. So I guess there’s no sense in doing any upgrades.
