Come across Volkov AA complex, fight a burer, emission hits, there’s 2 bloodsuckers stuck inside with me.

Somehow make it out alive, run straight for the scientist bunker in Yantar to gather myself before I head into Red Forest.

Arrive at bunker, no one is home. Controller shows up, as do 3 more bloodsuckers. Flip the generator switch to on, run into the bunker. Full. Of. Zombies.

Managed to clear the bunker out from the zombies, massive storm starts raging outside. Two loners walk in.

It's not bugged, more that cutscenes don't take your equipment into account. You get a default Skif no matter what you carry, which is also why Skif's gun in cinematics doesn't have a silencer when you've installed one in the game.

As long as you stay 100% behind people or objects to stay out of the vision cone, yes. They also cannot see you drop a body or they will alert to your position. If you are really lucky (and good) you can find groups you can drop in the right order without them noticing. Knife seems to be a bit more foolproof as well, if you need more than one shot it's 50/50 if you stay unnoticed.

alife isnt working yet. theyre working on it. its definitely not a finished product and dont play it if youre expecting it to feel like the trilogy. its good, but there are bits and pieces that make it feel "off". optimization is crap and there is a minefield of bugs that cause crashes and performance issues. you will need to use mods to fix what can be fixed in gameplay & optimization. i prepurchased and i dont regret, but part of that is because i know the game will be amazing once they work out the major issues & drop the dev kit for modders. i expect that to take 2-3 years to mature into a good modding scene and major issues fully patched

Okay, I understand better now. Your experience may be less jarring because of the fact that you have not played the previous games. My best advice to you is to go purchase & play the original trilogy. They now have console support & from what I hear run pretty well. By the time you finish them, Stalker 2 will have a bunch of its fixes already. Stalker 2 has a known controller deadzone issue right now.

The original trilogy is OLD by now though. Still great games, but if it's your first time playing them, you can certainly feel the age. At least on PC you can get mods that modernize them somewhat, but still keep the original story and feel.

Go check #pc-specs . There are hundreds of people experiencing crashes, fps drops, freezes, corrupted saves, you name it, it's a bug. Controllers currently are experiencing a known deadzone issue which makes the game almost unplayable for some of the more particular folks here. The developers have acknowledged them and are working on them. There are a dozen optimization mods which strip out useless crap that cause optimization issues with no effect on visual quality. This game is most definitely poorly optimized and is still being worked on. The "cutting edge technologies" such as DLSS3 & FrameGen are really the only reason why it's remotely playable at all right now. The seemingly intelligent A-Life AI system is not functioning in its current state. Give it some time & consider giving the original trilogy a try. It's dated but it captures the feel very well and is still very much enjoyable.

I can't speak for anyone else. The source code for A-Life seems to be fully present, it just has several massive bugs which null it all out when it attempts to run. The devs have acknowledged this, some mod devs are working to understand it and trying to get it working. Some mods have seen mild success, but currently it is mostly unused. I'm okay with waiting because I know the game will be phenomenal once the devs figure it out & the modding community has time to mature. It's up to you to make your own call on how you feel about it.

I had a bug with defending a certain location. On that location, there is a shelter where NPCs hide from an emission.

When I finished a main story quest, there was an emission. Because of that, both the attacking and defending NPCs were hiding in the same shelter, where no one can fire.

That emission happened to me like 800 meters away, so it's like A-Life is really there, it's just spawns are broken.

@vivid radish only time will tell. if a life is still not working as intended MONTHS from release, i would say yes. if it was suddenly pulled/bandaided so they could patch it because they found its previous state to conflict with the gameplay and story due to bugs, and it is fixed relatively quickly then no. however if the proper implementation bogs down performance even more and there are no significant optimizations made, that will be an even worse and different problem imo.

@spring wedge are you getting stuck loading just launching the games main menu/compiling shaders etc or are you getting stuck loading your last save? if its loading saves try to reload older saves if u can, though it might suck to lose progress. also maybe try to delete your oldest save perhaps theres a weird issue with having too many saves but i'm just throwing out suggestions. if the problem is stuck loading when launching the game i have no clue man.

But it really isn't a nothing burger. Not only do they have to make a roadmap describing the contents of the dlc, but they also have to meet the roadmap. GSC has already struggled to give the content promised with Stalker 2, and we know how they are at meeting deadlines.

The offline component with unload-onload currently does not work. That is why you take a performance hit. The actual implementation of A-Life 2 would be significantly less taxing on performance. Also there is a fix for the weird mouse feeling, since somehow mouse acceleration is enabled and you cant disable it in settings. There is a reddit post and some youtube videos to it. I only found it yesterday and it improved the gameplay alot. I can aim alot better now. You basically need to paste a command text thingy from the reddit post into an empty file of the game. I was very particular about time and attempted to maintain a strong understanding of the systems I was playing into as I went. The intro was nearly my entire 2 hrs. I did find a way to cheese the prologue out of it so u can basically keep everything, so that was cool :D
I didn't like the intro, though the game looked cool, I was constantly seeing how much I could get away with, which was very little. I didn't like how the boat poltergeist didn't follow my understanding of how they work and had about 4 times as much HP as I'd expect (problem continuing through the entirety of my time with the game) as well as dealing contact damage? IDK what that was about.
After cheesing the loot through the intro, I noticed immediately how difficult it was to see really anything. Binos sorely missed, but there was some serious pixelgooping going on. 50m+ becomes indecipherable except when absolutely still, (after turning off motion blur btw) I walk like 30 steps and I'm already in an encounter with a quest? the stalkers had a ton of hp, were dumb asf (naded themselves and survived lol) after I killed them there was an npc I spoke to and then I went outside and immediately got spotted by another squad of bandits and got shot through some trees and bushes. decided to take a step back and saw I was at like... 110 minutes. Decided to give it some time.... then after a few days hit the refund request. Now I'm playing Call of Pripyat to get a feel for what I think was wrong, and I'm enjoying it a lot.

if you have problems with the current economy, you re doing something wrong. i just past red forest didnt use any glitch at all. I have upgraded end game weapons and armor and 4 artifacts on my belt. i didnt have problem with repair cost or any part of the economy. have multiple weapons and armor to change for specific jobs and cheaper stuff to use so dont have to waste expensive weapons on killing basic bandits.... if you use your brain you shouldt have any problems at all on STALKER difficulty.

A huge part is going for repairs, but still if you collect stuff and, looking for stashes and artifacts like a real stalker, you earn enough coupuns to progress and improve your gear, you can even maintain multiple armor and weapons for different jobs. play a bit slower, go for artifact and stash hunts, collect expensive weapons from your enemies. this stalker life and on this way nobody should have any economy problem.

without the current repair cost\economy i would have fully upgraded gear after 5 hours into the game...... which would absolutely make me stop playing, total immersion breaker.

Close up simulation is A++, enemies have a deep decision tree, they can loot fallen teammates, choose who to fight, all good
But.. The entirety of the A Life containers are geared towards simulating faction wars not individual people (as of current patch)
Meaning there is no current variables or tables that bother to keep record of specific STALKERs, just faction groups
Meaning there is no persistent individuals that roam, but instead groups that control areas and roam but their names and personalities swap every time you reload that area

Overall its not really worse than A Life, its actually more complex, but it simulates groups of stalkers, not individual stalkers (which idk is ok but I liked persistent people)
When its all said and done, I don't think the average person will really notice, but I kinda hope they can improve the illusion a little more with names and reputations

All of that actually makes sense when reading what mol1t said, "everyone in the Zone is fighting for -" because for everyone that is true, but for individuals insofar it isn't

From what I can tell about that is that currently the A Life actor range is affecting all actors (which is literally everything in UE), so if GSC can separate out the grass+trees+box actors from the important STALKER actors it should get much more performant

My favorite part of this game is the length of the story missions as well as the choices. There's enough choices to make the next 3 playthroughs still unique and entertaining.

If you deactivate FSR the game runs on 30fps and in veteran difficulty its nearly unplayable. It's weird because FSR makes your mouse heavy-ish like not smooth, you have like 80fps but it feels like you actually have 40-50 with the 'heavy' mouse thing

Try to cap fps at nvidia control panel and not in the game set fps cap at unilimited at game it helps to feels smooth

I dont have that issue but even then I would use XESS on ultra qualitt plus mode with framegen.

Framegen really sucks when you ADS with a red dot sight and move the camera around. It has some awful ghosting but it is what it is I get 150ish fps on average epic preset

You have FSR on, right ? The great thing about FSR it actually improve performance but your mouse feels really weird, feels like you have a controller instead of a mouse it feels heavy
