Just don't believe that the Military in the Zone would defect that early and then decide to go join these new militas and such

All my point is; We know for a fact. Lots of soldiers got abandoned in the zone by the military in the 06 diaster. Duty was founded by some of them. Freedom was founded by some free stalkers who roamed the zone before it became the zone. Monolith also formed at this time.

This is my point. These factions had their numbers bolstered post 06 disaster by former military stuck in the zone.

First thing first is that the Military could have maps of radiation hot spots and such. Second is that the Military has no clue what anomalies are, emissions are, or even mutants for that matter. Third is that getting sent to the CNPP would not kill you fatal since many people go there today and such, Strelok and Scar go there and no radiation detector pops up when you are waddling around the CNPP. (Need to confirm this, haven't play SoC)

Okay so... to be fair, the history of the RL zone and the fictional one are quite different. BC of the 2006 disaster, there was no effort able to be made to contain the radiation leaking from the CNPP. And yes, in SOC & in CS, there is a huge amount of radiation in and around the CNPP that makes it quite dangerous on top of all the monolith swarming the area.
