**1- Get used to quick/hard saves since the game only autosaves on level change and thus, you might die accidentally and end up losing your progress.
2- Try to explore the area you are in, you might find some stuff hidden and thus go to your missions more prepared.
3- Beware radioactive zones (your rad detector will notify you the moment you are being exposed to it. You better leave that area asap before it sticks to you.)

• Anomalies are a pain in the ass (to newcomers), so keep your eyes open, throw bolt whenever you feel trapped, and keep your ears sharp as you will be hearing beeping the moment you are close.
• Try to aim for the head
• Blind dogs might not easily detect you if you pay attention to the noise you are making, so keep moving slow whenever you want to attack them, get closer for a headshot and save bullets
• Keep your eyes open for artifacts too. That's your best source of income.
• Check traders for artifact fetch missions before selling what you have.
• Traders will not offer same prices, so for best income, sell your artifacts to the scientists/ecologists.
• Help stalkers and earn their goodwill.
• Trader missions will improve your goodwill with them. Better goodwill means better selling prices.**

You want to know about anomalies? Sure thing!
Anomalies are, let's say number 1 threat here in the zone. The best way to survive is to equip yourself with the necessary equipments. But since you are new here, I recommend you keep bolts close. They are as important as ammunition here. Anomalous zones are generally known and sometimes quite visible.

So, the moment you find yourself close to Anomalies, bolts come in. You keep tossing as you walk while seeing how it reacts in contact.
There are many types of Anomalies! Some are fields of radiation and require some equipments to avoid, you should have a detector on you now I suppose? Some other Anomalies fall under the gravitional category. The latter can be presented in form of gravisional fields that either impact you with pressure or tear you apart like you swallowed a bomb hehe. Other Anomalies fall under electro category, the moment you make contact, it fries you like a lightening strike. There are plenty of other types, like flame Anomalies, chemical, psi, and spacial Anomalies. Most of what I told you about can be avoided with bolts. The psi fields are rather tricky and require psi protection you can acquire from the scientists.
You should keep your eyes open, anomalies generate artifacts. Some have good properties, others are both good and bad, so they should be used only if you have what it takes to nullify the bad effects. Artifacts are a great source of income too if you sell them to the eggheads (scientists).
Keep your eyes open for artifacts! You might come across some on your way there. Sakarov will pay you well for your findings.

I remember learning that specific skill real early, actually in my first playthrough. I wasn't exactly that smart to go through the right side bridge turn, and had to force myself through the anomalous tunnel since I had the arrow pointed that way. I spent hours looking for a way and died a lot in the process. However, eventually, I managed to see patterns and noticed that the anomalies there damage me then stops, then do it again. Following that logic, I tried tossing a bolt and running through and I passed unharmed, hardly.

I know the reason clear sky guns feel bad at the start, is BECAUSE they added a weapon upgrading system but like, I literally remember standing at the machine farm swamp place that gets attack by renegades, and the renegades bullets literally couldnt reach me, I stood out in the open and watch the bullets land at my feet in front of me

This is my genuine feeling, CS grabbed a lot of the mechanics of SoC and tried to work on them in a more action pace which was the position SoC was taking, thus it is only natural this would happen to minimize the amount of times ppl would use high range weapons and sit in the corner acting like jackass McGee

Not every weapon is even remotely equal though. There's just smaller difference in performance between weapons, but max accuracy/drop off vs. basic weapons, that's where the difference is massive

This is a problem not only with the balancing but the progression and the feel of weapons and how the stories and priorities of CoP play out

I felt like CoP did have good gun progression as long as you don't loot a stash or buy from Nimble. Although, with how short the game actually is, said progression doesn't mean a lot. I do like that, even though some weapons are only available late-game, some weapons you had access to earlier can perhaps fit your playstyle even more than a late-game weapon, despite all of them being equally viable but different in playstyle
