You can either sell it to freedom or duty, or give it to Owl to help acquire the ‘a man of balance” achievement. I’d hold on to it for now and work it out later since you need to acquire at least some rep with either Duty or Freedom so they can help a friend of yours later. And yeah don’t worry that you had to kill Morgan and his two mercenaries, he was actually a traitor to the Duty faction and they don’t care at all that you killed him.

oh but anyway the ‘perfect’ outcome

• Get ‘Diplomat’ Achievement by completing “Debts” and “Hostage” quests peacefully. This boosts your rep with all factions.
• Get ‘Mutant Hunter’ Achievement by completing all of Trapper’s jobs. This boosts your rep with all factions.
• Give Duty Founder PDA to Owl
• Give Morgan’s PDA to Owl
• Turn Magpie (||Flint||) into either Duty or Freedom (depending on which faction you want enough rep with to recruit Strider’s guys into) before telling Gonta that Magpie has been dealt with.

With that, you should have both ‘A Man of Balance’ and enough rep for Strider to be recruited. Note that, if you don’t have both of Diplomat and Mutant Hunter, you’ll have to both give the Duty Founder’s PDA and turn Magpie in to the same faction to have enough rep with them. Mutant Hunter and Diplomat together give you enough rep that you only need to do 1 out of 3 rather than 2 out of 3 between Morgan’s PDA/Founder’s PDA/Turn Magpie in

Speaking of mercs, I have the theory that mercenaries are hired by people associated with the C-Consciousness. They could want to recover some lost parts of their past research, or simply cover their tracks so that the government wouldn't find out who they were and what they were doing.

We know that mercs tried to steal data from the scientists who "dug something up" during SoC events, and generally became active around the time when the SBU launched the "TRUTH" project, which aimed to uncover the secrets of the Zone, and that doesn't seem to be a coincidence

I still appear to have all of the bonuses (Hermann discounts and anabiotics, Skadovsk medicines, Yanov ammo, etc) but I was at like 9/10 for Trafficker of Information and now I’m at 0/10 lol

there have undoubtedly been instances of cannibalism in the zone, even if only as an emergency measure if someone was, say, trapped in a space bubble

The zone could use darker tones such as that. Feels like someone goes out to adventure into the zone whereas it should be a more bigger life changing decision, probably for the worst.

Some could say it already is but the game doesnt do a good job of showing it. Hopefully S2 expands on the brutality of the zone. After all it is spreading..
