We have to remember that the og trilogy was made by devs who later split from GSC and went to form 4A games and made metro. So obviously the foundation of people who made the OG's has changed over the years. Maybe thats why you feel like its such a split feeling from them.

Or perhaps you just aren't immersing yourself enough into it. I have had that problem with other games before, some games need to be played a certain way to draw you in. For me, in stalker 2 I don't like playing on any casual difficulty, I only play on master. The easier difficulties feel like there's less of a "Danger" in the zone, and when on master it forces me to play more careful or I will lose progress and some items gathered on the way. Thus immersing me into the character and the world around me. Some games take some time to grow on you, you play some then put it down for a while. Then later you get the urge to play it again and then end up having an extremely fun time.
