Also, honestly, games having pitch-black nights is realistic but not playable. It's a game, concessions are made.

Trouble is if they make nights dark, to make nvgs more useful, the vision clarity gained from them would then make not using them silly, to me at least. I don’t see a reason to not use nvgs regardless but how it is currently where you can still see some stuff but not with 100% visibility

In short - slightly darker so night gameplay is fun, but keep the composition, and I’ll probably just choose not to use nvgs anyway so I guess it’s a moot point

In pretty much every video game I've ever played that have nighttime in them, as well as the ones I've seen in videos, none of them get night/low light vision correct. it's usually either pitch black, or daytime with a moon and low brightness. Here are what I think key characteristics of low light vision:

TL; DR...pitch-black might be realistic, but it's unplayable. And a game needs to be playable, not realistic (at least not like the Matrix)...

Meaning being able to see things even at night and get around without light and not stumbling at the same time.

I have the preorder early bird version or whatever it's called, and I gotta say the items are very meh. The traveller suit looks DOG WATER, and the good stats make it even worse because you're compelled to stay stuck in a garbage looking gear for a good chunk of early game.

with that mod you get a laser-sighted cracker when doing the garbage quests, then you get the predator when you get to zaton, and you'll eventually get your busted saiga if you feel like repairing it, which imo makes much more sense progression wise.

I totally agree, but it is not impossible. They already have 90% done. Lore, weapons, factions, maps, important characters, etc.

I would even say that it would give it a different feel since the existing extract shooters pull more realistic, but this is a mixture between the apocalyptic, mutations, mystery, anomalies, etc.

I think it would not be a bad idea to see Stalker in an Extraction.
