so basically, my system:
Ryzen 5 3600 (no oc)
Corsair 16GB Vengeance RGB 3200Mhz CL16
AsRock B550 Extreme4
Nvidia RTX 2070S FE (no oc)
LG GL850 1440p 144hz (2 1080p extras as well)
Windows 11 Pro

When i built my pc in Apr 2020 everything seemed to work fine, i played games like; siege, apex, forza, and cod mw. all of a sudden about 6-7 months ago i noticed that my games would start to drop frames to about 10-15 fps from the 144hz whenever my cursor was showing on screen. i thought nothing of it because it happened in games where i dodn't really have to use my cursor for example forza and mw, but then it started to get intrusive so i began to look into it. it only happened in certain games so i came to the consideration that it might not be a hardware issue

Things i tried:
DDU/Safemode driver install
Reinstalling problem games
lowering graphic settings
running a single display
Fresh install of windows 11

After the fresh install the first thing that i installed was FH5 and sure enough the problem was gone, and i paid close attention to everything i installed to make sure if the issue returns i can isolate what exactly caused it. it turned out to be the Microsoft Visual C++ 20xx Redistributable that some games would install before you can run them, so i tried uninstalling it, that seemed to work because the frame droppage stopped after a reboot. But then once installed more games, they added more redistributables (doesn't matter the year if one is installed it happens) so i continued to uninstall them because the games that did add them had no issues without them being installed, until i installed titanfall and my screen started flickering black, i assumed because they were missing something that was actually vital so i headed over to microsoft and i downloaded all the visual redistributables they had, lo and behold it stopped for a bit and i did not have the cursor problem either, but then it started again and the frequency and speed would vary and once it started i would either have to stop playing the game or reboot my pc and hope that solved it temporarily, but fast forward to today, nothing stops it. The second i launch apex legends, or mw and get into the menus it begins. im lost for words and i do not know what to do, i have reached out to nvidia in hopes to RMA my gpu but i have not received a response from their support team after submitting the requested information. the only thing i have not tried to rule out it being a hardware issue is trying a diff GPU which i can't really do rn and i dont have an igpu

Sounds like it could be hibernation file, swap file, temp files, the usual.
You can disable hibernation (powercfg /hibernate off) and delete the hiberfile on the system root, and you can also reduce the size of your swap space. If you have 16GB+ of memory you don't need more than the minimum swap.

Gotta be careful running chkdsk, a lot of controllers that can be used, and depending on which one you use, size of you HD, the degree of screening you select, could take hours, at least on an old HDD.

i have used 2 controllers over the last few months and need help as they are not connecting properly to my pc anymore. My first was a nintendo switch pro controller which worked perfectly until my brother used it on a different switch, after it was returned to me it would no longer connect to my computer with or without usb c. Next, i used my brothers ps5 controller and when it asked for it back for a while and returned it to me it would no longer connect to my pc anymore, i have tried a usb c connection and it works but not as intended. Is there a solution?

Linux isn't really meant for a gaming machine tbh.
I know some logitech mice have onboard profiles you can switch between, even if you plug them into another pc. You could make use of that.

There's not a lot of info in the minidumps, but it appears to be a problem with corrupt os files (run the batch file in the pins) or bad memory or primary storage. The second one happened when the system was trying to store in the page file, which is on the C drive.

Well your pc wouldn't be running when it enters the hybrid sleepmode. Otherwise no effect. It's a mix between sleep & hibernation, I just forget exactly how it is.

I’m having an issue where my pc would just restart after coming off hibernation. I’m using an i5-11400 with Asus b560m prime mobo

I was told to go on event viewer and see the summary page events and it shows this

There is NO bsod or anything. It just restarts as if I hit the restart button but all I did was shake the mouse to get it back from standby mode

Windows update is better than the updaters but updating individual drivers as needed is best. Most of the time you don't need to update drivers unless you're having problems or a new version introduces a feature you want.

so the problems still happening...I woke my pc up from sleep, but didnt do anything after that for a few seconds so the monitor went on standby because I wasn't clicking on anything or moving the mouse. My computer was still running but my monitor went on standby mode (screen was black). I clicked on the keyboard to wake up the monitor...nothing. I clicked on the mouse and moved it around...still nothing. Monitor stayed on standby and then my pc just randomly restarted.

dont know if this would be the right thread but does anybody know anything about shortcuts? a couple months ago i was trying to install shaders for minecraft and something got messed up with my desktop shortcuts, its weird its not all of them but it is all of my steam shortcuts and some other random ones are messed up, like they wont open straight to the game or application theyll take me to my steam library or whatever the host application is for whatever it is im trying to open. its annoying and looks really ugly

That's an easy one. Open settings, search for default apps. In the menu find htm and tell it to open with browser. Then your steam shortcuts will be fixed.

these may be stupid questions to some people but I've ran out of ideas. both not pressing issues but would like to know what to do to fix it. 1st is my ram. It stays lit up when I put my pc into sleep mode. I've tried checking in the armoury create app and ive gone into the BIOS and changed the setting in "on board devices". the BIOS selection turned off all the other lights on the mobo but not the ram. 2nd issue is in the booting process sometimes the "VGA" light stays on. it doesnt affect anything when its on but its annoying so I end up restarting my pc and it goes off. it doesnt always stay on but it does it enough to annoy me. any suggestions would be great PLEASE and THANK YOU!

Try turning on EuP/ErP ready in bios, it disables some sleep states for a deeper, low power sleep.
As for the vga light, maybe a bios update will help?

I need help urgently. I built a pc roughly 3 weeks ago and everything was working fine. However, as of this week, I've been getting random BSODs and system restarts. The restarts happen when I wake the system up from sleep, the monitor shuts off, then the pc randomly restarts right after. When I restart my computer after an update or for any reason at all, I get a bsod. the bsod says DRIVE_POWER_STATE_FAILURE. I've updated my pc to the latest drivers and the problem still persists. I've almost lost important work I'm scared to run any updates now because I don't want anything getting corrupted. Please help

Second, run whocrashed. The analysis conclusion should tell you which driver is failing. From the sound of it, it's either the graphics or motherboard drivers.
If it is the graphics driver, you'll want to run ddu from safe mode and reinstall it after. Try a previous version too, latest nvidia has had some issues I have seen.

As in skipping the usb installer step and just copying it straight to the drive? That won't work usually but technically can if you clone a working os. Macrium reflect can be used for that.

I was using Windows and then a notification popped up saying that virus protection was turned off (probably due to my Malwarebytes sub expiring) so I went to check, and an error popped up saying that my IT administrator (don't have one) limited some access to the app (referring to Windows Defender)

How often does the error pop up? I've had Malwarebytes subscriptions expire on me multiple times and that's never happened before.

To look at the temps, hwinfo 64(gives more info) or msi afterburner will do, to stress test it, 3d mark demo(timespy) on steam is free and a decent benchmark, your temps shouldn't get much higher than they do in that

So after countless attempts at trying to fix the POWER STATE DRIVE FAILRURE. I’ve decided to change mobos. I’m not sure if this will fix the prob but I’ve found out online that the mobo I have is pretty low quality and often yields very high temps for cpus.

Windows 11 is built to prevent multiboot with Linux. What with the secure boot requirement and all. You can bypass that but it's still a pain. Just stick with 10.

That's one of 3 things, corrupt files, bad memory or overclock, or a bad system drive.
Corrupt files you can fix with the scan and fix bat file in the pins.
To test if it's memory, reset the memory back to default speeds (xmp/docp off) and see if you still have problems. If it's already default speed or you still have problems, try another kit.
The system storage drive is a little harder to diagnose, but you can check for smart errors or windows errors in the logs.

forgot to mention that i have an m.2 but i cant boot normally like any other pc. when i start my pc it takes me to a blue screen (like the one you get on an advance startup if yknow what that is) and it let me choose on which device i want to boot my pc then it starts normally. tho i only the m.2 has windows files >> can that be related to the problem?

To fix the weird boot thing? Yeah.
You'll need to open the command prompt from that advanced boot menu, mount your boot partition, then do a repair.

Does the laptop have a mux switch? If not connect to external display or disable igpu in bios
