It's very normal, they are OEM licenses you can read about them but they are perfectly fine to use. I've bought many of them over the years for PC builds that I have flipped and never got compaints about "Windows isnt activated" or whatever.

Download Whocrashed and it will tell you why it's crashing, or at least point you in the right direction

If you can't boot it, you can install a live OS like linux onto a USB drive and copy C:\Windows\Memory.dmp somewhere you can diagnose it or share it with someone that can run the diagnostic for you

Yeah there's plenty of ways to wipe out and reinstall Windows. I'd use a USB disk with gparted on it, but make sure you are signed in with a microsoft email so it saves your license.

You can go ahead and boot that up, start the installer, and tell it to do a custom install. When you get to the drive partitioning, delete all the partitions on your system disk (you kept backups right?) and tell it to install to the empty space.

If it errors loading the installer, we know that it's a hardware issue. If the install completes fine, you should be okay.

I'd run Malwarebytes scan to be safe. It checks deeper than many antivirus programs.

Issue ive been running into, pc will partially freeze up, i can open/close some apps from taskbar, screen is partially responsive to clicks but it wont restart when i click that through windows, has happened a few times only way ive been able to fix it is by shutting down from case button, any ideas on what may be causing this/how i can prevent

I'm not great at pc stuff but I'd suggest running powershell as an administrator and running commands that I can give you

I sometimes have the same problem fmutlu and if you don't want to use powershell ctrl alt delete always works for me then use task manager and close out the things that froze

Powershell won't be a sure fix but using the ctrl alt dele + task manager is the best way

It won't fix it but you'll be able to close out of it

ive tried ctrl alt del every time its happened, and most times it hasn't done anything, the one time task manager did pop up i wasn't able to select any of the options. So I set a stupid Microsoft account up for windows so I could use the Microsoft store. It wanted me to make a pin but I hit cancel because I didn’t want to make one. Now after restart it shows the wallpaper and the clock. Then I click the mouse and my name and the sign in button comes up but when I hit sign in it just goes back wallpaper with the clock. I have a refurbished HP Elite 8200 tower I bout from NewEgg. It has been set up with Win 10 on the SSD driver and has an additional Program Files, Desktop and other Win system folders (Pictures, Documents, etc) set up on the hard drive (D:). I wanted to get all the operational stuff on the C:\ drive (the SSD). My goal is to eliminate the 2TB hard drive, do a mirror image backup on the SSD drive and then install a 4TB hard drive and restore the mirror to it. I've uninstalled everything from the D:\ Program Files and I'm wondering what else I need to do to insure I end up with a bootable system before I do the mirror backup. Any ideas?

Make sure your default documents, downloads, etc folders point to the C: drive. That wouldn't affect boot but it gets scary if it's set wrong and you get nothing but a blank desktop on login.

It's easy to change them. Open explorer and click "This PC" on the left pane. By default the various folder locations are pinned on that page. Right click each one and hit Properties, Location tab and make sure they point to the correct location.

I've been having this micro stutter/hitching for over 2 years. Never had a problem before. Some time in late 2018, I believe W10 (being the POS that it is) installed an update and every system I've built since has had this problem after that. No matter what hardware I swap out, what settings I change, even building a new system has changed nothing. I went as far as ordering a system from Origin since I thought for some reason I kept messing something up even though I've never had a problem building systems all these years. The problem is still there. Even their support was no help though IDK how competent their support team is

Late 2018 sounds like around the time that the spectre and meltdown vulnerabilities were patched, which would primarily affect Intel processors but AMD as well. There was a very noticeable drop in performance related to these patches, up to 20%.

Windows installer is notoriously hard to multiboot, I always just use a custom ISO I made with all Windows versions on it made bootable with rufus on its own drive, then I use YUMI for all my linux distros.

can anyone help me? i keep getting bosd's almost always the same error, irql less or equal and kernel security check failure, it always happens when im starting a game or when the pc isnt on underload or when im just not moving the mouse (i leave it on to watch videos and it crashes)

Sounds like a RAM issue. You can run the Windows extended RAM test to see if it comes up with anything.
Open the start menu and type "memory diagnostic", let it reboot and do its thing for a while. When it reboots back into Windows the results will be in the system log.

Depending on how much and how fast your RAM is this can take between 30 minutes to 3 hours.

Download Whocrashed. It will analyze all of your error dumps and give reasonably helpful suggestions, as well as pointing out the faulting modules.

A few things it could be:
Reboot the router and modem (if separate)
Reset the network stack ("netsh ip int reset", "netsh winsock reset", and reboot)
Test another ethernet cable, if possible
