i made sure that the gold triangle was across from the other triangle
Nice pfp btw
@severe forum thx
Across?
yup
Its supposed to be aligned
oh
ok
i just fixed it but its not turning on
i put the thermal paste on the conductor pads of the cpu like my friend told me to
but its still not turning on
@lofty prawn are you joking?
RGB solves everything
ik
they might not know about mobo chipsets or they didnt notice
i tried to make that part as obvious as possible because i would understand someone getting confused with B chipsets
lol
I mean I actually wouldn't question it if someone told me they're gonna do 10980xe with z490
It just wouldn't click in my head on that's lga2066
yeah i would prob miss that
intel changes it so much its hard to keep up
im just hoping like 40 years in the future we see lga69420
Is the z490 unify good for overclocking? Someone told me steve from GN said it had stability issues
@sterile flame here's a segment from GN (actually buildzoid but yea), on the Z490i unify
https://youtu.be/0iLS3poPn8o?t=723
This is a round-up of the best Z490 motherboards for Intel 10-series CPUs, like the i5-10600K, i7-10700K, and i9-10900K. Ranges $150 to $750, looking at if expensive boards are really worth it.

I was looking at the atx not i one
oh one sec then
It's in that video too

yea I grabbed a new timestamp for you
Yeah I see he speaks highly of it. Was just wondering if it was true there's "stability problems" bc some youtube commenter told me. Sorry I know nothing about OC stuff but I like to have the option lol
ofc, you should look more into other people reviewing the unify and actually ocing with it
I mean buildzoid actually was overclocking with it without much issues @sterile flame

@proven canopy what is this server I've never heard of
I don't like reddit so
But they split up, now it's called ROC
just Overclocking*
hello,is it true that overclocking your monitor can reduce its life span, i am new at pc gaming and I have a 60 hz 24 inch monitor and I overclocked it to 70 with nvidia control panel
OCing anything shortens its lifespan
o damn, but how much?, like i dont want my monitor dying in a few months
wait fr
no one knows.
What exactly is overclocking?
do you have to increase voltage to oc
Whats the point of increasing voltage then lmao
the important word is needed
r/overclocking: All things overclocking go here. Learn to overclock, ask experienced users your questions, boast your rock-stable, sky-high OC and …

Overclocking is when you speed up your cpu or GPU
Overclocking is when you have all the gigglyhertz.

should i over clock my i5 10th gen
Yes
probably need to OC my 9900k when i get my 3080. it's only 3.6ghz rn. not sure if i'll technically have to though, so we'll just see how it does performance wise
Stock, it'll boost two cores to 5.0 and all 8 to 4.7
ah, gotcha, i may not need to then
@open drift do full link, see what the average clock is on gpu though
@restive cargo talk about the ice bucket challenge lol
Yeah
I cant wait to get my waterblock for my asus tuf ugh
I'm actually suprized it overclocks very well
I only use the AIO. I haven't gotten my feet wet with actual water cooling yet.
One day I will.
Your better off the cpu will jump 15c when adding gpu to loop
I guess average depending on how many radiators n such
You should join the HWBOT team.
Come have fun battles with us and sub some points for Wegg.
We do all kinds of fun stuff.
@proven canopy
Is the local overclocking guru.
hardly
Forks gonna battle Kingpin one day.
@noble tide there is no "one setting fits all", OCing is all about testing the waters for your exact chip, every chip OCs slightly differently.

your voltage can probably go lower, but if you want just lower temps, leave power limit as is, and you can do like 2100+ mhz core with 1200mv
.
https://gyazo.com/fe61999d84bb5e387b84ea518572ea4d
Anyone know if these are good voltages for this. I know the clock isn't that high but I don't need the performance I need for most games I play. Is there any room for more undervoltng?
Not really. I'm just trying to undervolt to lower temps.
if u undervolt it and dont know what ur doing in the slightest itll probably crash
Undervolting affects performance and stability if you did too much
Anyone Recommend a Fan Speed Application
Use your motherboards software
hola Alguien que hables Español ?
No
Ingles
what is overclocking?
When you make your cpu or GPU go faster
Setting clock speeds above stock.
what about cpu doe
CPU nah
should say on specs
...
If your CPU is new enough and is Intel you can buy a $20 one time replacement plan for overclocking.
who can help me overclock ram
@warped rock Ryzen dram calculator
i dont wanna oc anymore
Ok have fun
Anyone wanna help me with zotac firestorm/ msi afterburner to mess with the clocks of my 2080ti
Im scared im gonna overdo something nd make it go boom
It's gonna go voom
@hot socket MSI oc scanner
If you don't want it to go boom
Ez core clock
The stock oC for this 2080 is 1665mhz
Literally 1-click overclocking!
Always wanted to get more performance out of your graphics card, but don't know how overclocking works or simply don’t want to risk it? The new OC Scanner feature in MSI Afterburner will do the overclocking for you at the click of a button. It's...
Could I push to like 1900
I saw in a linus video on the corsair prebuilts a 2080super hit 1900
In games
Tho

Thats what I meant
Remember, 2080 super FE boost clock is around 1800
Woah
That's a huge difference when it comes to getting to 1900mhz
clock speed is NOT everything.
Of course
That's an example of stuff more cores in
But that also shows getting to 1900mhz might just be unreasonable
Im gonna run time spy extreme to see what it says the actual max clock i hit rn is
Then I'll check back in
@dull ginkgo this is what it hit
as is
looking at the charts the max is 1750 boost rn, so could i push it further or
i dont think u need to
if ur not satisfied with the fps ur getting THEN oc
My gpu is on a waterblock so its not gonna heat up too much
I'll try that, oc a little bit and run a heavy game and see if there's an fps dif
@final whale still no :p
Reason: Bad word usage
@hot socket remember when they were released and their family
2080ti released first as a squeeze a ton of cores in, might have to run slower, but big performance GPU.
Then 2080 super came as a 2080, except a ton of optimizations and such were done, to help the less individual cores perform better
@dull ginkgo ahhhh, that's more understandable. If u don't mind is the 1890mhz on that reading the max boost clock i got? I'm not very smort at knowing whats what
@hot socket just search “2080ti best oc clocks”
@final whale no
Different chips oc differently
There's a reason silicon lottery is a thing
@hot socket yes, 1890 in that picture is the max boost it saw
and to expand a bit on what mr1111 said.
Clock is not everything, far from it. a simpler example is looking at cpu's
sometimes (if the workload is right) you can have a lower clocked 16 core be way way way faster than a higher clocked 12 core
its the same principle in GPU's
@hard ice thankkssuuu, and that makes a lot of sense i understand better now
You can do 2100mhz+ on a 2080 ti if you keep is under 40C
Damn ill try that once I get all my new fans in bc im already hitting 48° peak rn
@hollow stirrup oh I meant like, im already hitting as low as 48° under load therefore I wouldn't have to lower much to hit 40° ya know (it is cool as is yea)
@hollow stirrup For OCing, every like 5c dropped gets you higher clocks
if people feel they want to answer, they will. @sterile flame
dam, srry:(
For example, I'm not answering because I have no clue on turbo ratio :P
just wait for someone who knows
its a turbo ratio, that's like asking is vcore good
you dont have per core oc unless you're on hedt
but there is a special version on my pc that lowers latency called turbo ratio
wgats hedt
intel high end desktop
no you dont lol
Oop
What chip
did you pay $500 for a mobo and $1000 for a cpu?
you set the maximum multiplier the cpu will boost to
you put multiplier ratios on each core
on the amount of cores under load
Is that ok I used cinebench and temps were fine
4.9ghz all core is pushing it on a 9600k. i think it wont crash, but it will thermal throttle
cooler
I have a hyper 212 black edition
depends on what voltage its at, 9600k is generally easy to cool until ~1.35v
and what is the clock speed?
give it prime 95 and then tell us you have temperature headroom
49
are you sure
Prime95 smallfft to be exact
because im telling you right now its not
even large will thermal throttle with it
I'm positive
I mean blend is default and kinda weak asf
im telling you now, thats not how multipliers work lmao
Look ima open up hwinfo
^
Wats that
P95 is only solid numbers you can really get, and really use to compare things with
use the torture test, smallfft setting.
I'm confused
start by downloading the program
Ok
that way you will be less confused
Lol
this setting
Well do you know game boost?
I referenced that when oc
Just put my clock speed higher
Is that smart?
I was scared of that though cuz I had to put my 1 core on 52 multiplier
So I jus put everything on 49
then, run prime95 small fft
Ok
watch hwinfo for like 10 mins, record max temperature and multiplier per core
dont even think about overclocking rn, you arent there yet
oh, yeah
(its a 212... it has roughly the thermal mass of a small muppet... so yeah .. 5 minutes is more than enough)
Oop
@hard ice I'm basing my number off DRP4 and D15 getting around 1 minute and a half until steady state tested by GN soo uhhhh yea
Do I put xmp on at least?
C state?
small fft with avx does benefit a lot from ram though, more throughput = more stress
right
So what I do?
but it shouldn't cause instability as long as XMP is stable
enable xmp, run small fft, see what temps are at
Doesn't matter for you atm.
Yea, we're doing stock right now
looking at temps?
make sure it's smallfft not blend
default is blend, and blend is weak boi
fun
Oop
what's with the [TRIAL]
Idk
that doesn't look like hwinfo64
thats aida64
Ooop
time to give key?
whatever, it still works
So 5 min right?
mhm
What now?
look at max recorded temps
It stayed at 80
lets just look at that previous statement of yours then
"I get 70 degrees, When gaming" <- how likely do you rate that as now?
go back, read what was said.
you are the one that bought the parts you have
I like coretemp for a light weight utility
oh thats super nice
@cold jolt I think I understand oc a lot more
is this correct?
If i lower my v ram I can reach higher clock speeds
but i get slower boot up times and slower app boot up times as well\
well I was able to reach 4.6 at a stable 82 degrees
but my apps are slower to boot up and windows boots up slower as well
this is your cpu?
yes
ima try 4.7
and i think ill stop there
1.200 volts
Ive had prime running for about 20 min
and it doesnt pass 86 degrees
Actually ima stay at 4.6 core clock
When i build my moms pc ill give my cooler to her and ill get an aio
Your mom is into PC stuff?
@sterile flame
I apologize for the ping but damn that's sick
Wdym @sterile flame
Ohhh
No she wants it for work, but I have another plan
ohhhh
Ima build an itx build for her so we can bring it wherever we want and watch movies
my mother bought a 1k laptop that's also gaming which blew my mind
damn dude
nice
Lol
Thx
Hmm
Yes
Can i overclock my computer
Well it’s a laptop
Because it has been really slow lately and I think I could squeeze a good amount of performance
limited thermal headroom
above is a different way of saying: very unlikely you will get anything from it
Ok thanks should I get new thermal paste and give it a good clean
Because it’s runs 95 normally
On cpu
sounds like it wont hurt :)
Intel Pentium processors are pretty good for overclocking right?

prolly @verbal lava
ur better off with an athelon
amd fx chips are your best bet
I think world record is the fx 8150
correct me if i'm wrong
should i oc my 5700xt for lols
see channel sub topic
im looking for that "do it" shove ya know
What voltage should I put my graphics card at with 850 clock speed. Mine is at 830 Volts on a RX 580
pascal op literally impossible to overvolt 1070 ti's
Anyone able to assist with tuning my 3080 gpu? After messing with the voltage curve I had really stable results with very minimal perfcap reasons affecting my clock. After adjusting the curve down I've been getting more and more perf cap reasons and the boost clock is less stable than it was when I had it at a higher clock speed.
i have not had hands on with either the 3080 or the 3090, so i cannot help on this one :)
@hard ice I’m surprised there’s that much nuance to undervolting different card series. I assumed this would have been a pretty common issue/mistake with the technique.
@tepid canopy PWR = power limited, Vref = voltage limited, Usage = not enough load to cause any limitations
maybe I have something wrong but according to that logic why would reducing the frequency but keeping the voltage constant result in more PWR notations in the perfcap?
doing the same test each time?
and are you using the v/f curve editor, or just the offsets?
Can someone help me in #building-and-recc-chat
if you're using the v/f, you might hit a power/temp limit mid run and drop the voltage (changing the limiter from power to voltage or visa versa)
grx, do I really need to @ forks?
thank you for the heads up @tall pelican
shrugs
@hard ice I figured it out. Currently stable core clock at +45 from my old max and -13C under max load
um probably higher noise? but I can't really tell
can't hear it when I play, but I did make the gpu fan curve more aggresive
fair enough
have some nfa12x25 coming in tomorrow
hoping to hit sub 60 for lols
1995 stable clock speed 59C the dream
yes
Reason: Bad word usage
afterburner is being a little annoying for me @hard ice but otherwise system runs nicely
Hey @tall pelican @proven canopy I'm trying to get some assistance with fine tuning my 3080 FE with Afterburner. @hard ice said you might be aware of some good resources to check out. Just let me know if you're able to assist.
Anybody with any 3080 who has Ocd their card can you tell me what you got as a stable oc. I'm trying to see if what I got is comparable to others
@viral turret My card is stable at 1995mhz ~900mv
Thanks! @tepid canopy
What are you at?
2145mhz on core 500+ on mem
nice. what voltage/temp?
let me go test that rq-
so it's fluctuates quite a bit
let me make it solid
lol
925
at 2130 mhz

What is a good voltage for the 10850k at 4. 8ghz? And does overclocking affect gaming or just workloads?
Gaming and workloads
assuming all core boost clock of 4.8? stock voltage is fine
most likely
try it and see
how do i overclock the i7-10700k

is delidding 10th gen worth it to push ocs?
🤷♂️
no
no
Yes if you go direct die and really want good ambient performance
I say skive the die and run your coolant right over it
is my house supposed to be on fire after overclocking my microwave
Only if you use mayo as thermal paste
nah i heard silver was good thermal paste but obv didn't have any so i tried aluminum
at least the 3rd degree burns gave me 400 extra mega hurts
Would I overclock the 10850k like the 10900k since they are similar?
considering the 10850k is a 10900k that couldnt meet the binning standards to be a 10900k
absolutely not
Lol
considering the 10850k is a 10900k that couldnt meet the binning standards to be a 10900k
by this logic you do the exact same steps lmao
uh i’m a newbie, and i’m just right now trying to overclock my ram. but my gigabyte bios won’t show any settings on to clock my voltage or anything, my xmp only has two options which is profile 1 and disabled. and i don’t know where to make a new profile
thing is my cpu is trash af therefore it could only like reach 3000 hz
but if i cant manually do it imma just leave it at disabled
ClockTuner gave me these results with diagnostics, but it's not stable. What should I be adjusting to stabilize the test?
The test itself can't be more stable, it only uses cinebench to check soooo
I switched to beta 3 same settings and it completed
oh nice
Anyone here ever overclock a GTX 1660 Super?
I have a question about over clocking?if you over clock do you have to lower the voltage to keep it stable?
Usually the opposite actually
Higher voltage usually means better stability
But higher voltage also means higher tempz
That's why people will want to UV
can i overclock my gaming laptops gpu
i have a 1050ti maxq design and it rarely reaches over 50 degrees when i am playing borderlands 3
Hi, I got a ryzen 3 3300x on stock cooler and a 500w psu, the Thermaltake white (I know it's a bad psu), should I over clock it?
im gonna try to sell it and buy an actual good one XD
Very good
so i just tried over clocking in dragon center
changed clock from 100 to 200
and boom instant crash
what did you expect smh
is 100 to 200 bad
I think there's one main principle you're forgetting
i thought u were suppose to increase base clock by 100 at a time
expect crashing when you try to OC lmfao
best thing to do is
also idk about OCing using Dragon Center, I always just go thru bios and make minor changes, test, make more minor changes, test
tru
i saw it and it looked like
"ez mode" so i sad screw it whats worst that could happen
so why are you complaining
and why didn't you check how to deal with things when it crashed :P
MR111 DONT GO ALL NAED ON ME
hey dudes i got a 3600x and a corsairh100i pro rgb
and a b450f
can somebody help to do overclock

I got a ryzen 3 3200g and I'm trying to clock it to 4ghz coming from base 3.8 but on voltage in trying to change it to 1.35 volts but as I click off it resets to 0
Anyone able to tell my what to set the value to. Maybe removing decimal?
Just stick your AIO in a bucket of ice water.
😂
Bryce wasn't joking
^^
how to overclock rx5700xt red devil
how do you oc a i7 6700k ? is avarage clock speed at 4.7 if oc?
@sick marten go to afterburner and overclock
took the fsb to 177mhz, had it stable at 180, but wanted to tighten memory timings in the process as well.
gonna have to manually unlock the cpu multiplier
Nice
Can I overclock ryzen cpu's with the included stock cooler
You can, but it's generally not recommended for medium size over clocks
Depends on what cpu ur using
Can I do it with a Ryzen 5 3600x
Reason: Bad word usage
Yea, but just don't expect anything amazing
With the stock cooler? Ofc lmao
@night granite PBO or CTR is going to do more for you than manual on Ryzen
Alright
@yosarianilives check this out
@proven canopy that @ didnt stick
sup @radiant kettle
@glass fossil I have the 2600X and I have mine set at 4.1ghz through ryzen master on liquid cooling
@latent wolf i have an Air cooler so i don't want to go above 4.0
U guys think i can oc a 5900x to 5ghz all cores via arctic liquid freezer
How are we supposed to know without having a 5900x
assumption
yeah prolly
a .2 ghz change on 12 cores wont be hard right?
Yep
yeah my guess is you would be fine
no prob
like .2 is straight up not a lot
honestly
@final whale lemme give you an example. I have a 3800x, max boost clock is 4.5ghz. I can't get over 4.3ghz without too high voltage for comfort, and can't go over 4.4ghz all core at all.
What about stock voltage
@final whale you know that there is no stock voltage right
:P
Stock runs voltage on auto
oh
I once had a small laptop that certain games would make it overheat, i was 14 and i had a totally smart idea and grabbed a bag, filled it with water, and put the freezer
when it got cold i would grab it and put it under my laptop
overclocked.
5Head
is it abnormal that i have a 60hz monitor that can allegedly be overclocked to 120
i can only get it to 105 before i see it start screwing with the screen but the internet tells me that i can get it even higher
so im just not going any higher lmao
eh ive seen people do higher stuff its not too crazy, just make sure it isnt frame skipping
My monitor is advertised as 165hz however you have to overclock it do get the 165hz as it is at 144hz
So it's winter season
My PC is next to the window
I am at 10-20c across the board. Can someone provide me with a guide on OC 101?
Intel sucks
So I have a 200 Watt cooler, a dark rock 4. I was hitting 95 degrees at 1.32V 5ghz
I get annoyed enough to where I delid it
the thermal paste just flaked right off of the IHS and cpu die
I brushed it lightly and all of it just fell of. All of it was rubbery and flakey
8th gen has notoriously bad paste
Yeah I added some conductanaut and resealed it (I'm not dealing with a lose lid)
I went from 45-50 idle to 35-37 idle
and under full load
I have a max of 68C after 20 cinebench cycles
no more 95C
that's such a difference, all I did was replace the paste in the cpu. that's not something that should need to be done
and my fan rpm is halved so I can't even hear my pc running anymore, it's crazy
de-lidding typically nets 200-300mhz
If the cost , effort, and warranty tradeoff is worth that, go for it of course
Fine if the temps are ok
since I have a 200 Watt cooler that can actually do it's job now I think I may try to push. It runs 5ghz at a rather low 1.32V
alright I haven't crashed yet at 1.36
I'mma run cinebench for 5 minutes see if it doesn't crash, it didn't crash on first passthrough
I need advice, if my cpu ratio is 51 what should I push my ring ratio to? It's currently 44
hmm would it be difficult to delid, anything required to buy? i do have a bit of random tools in my basement if it help
yeah
delid your 8th gen chip because I did mine
and now I'm running at +.04V, +100mhz and -20/25C under load
i was struggling with temps before lol
It's such a difference that it makes me mad at intel
Yeah I was hitting 95C at 5ghz 1.32V and now I'm just at 70 running cinebench
with higher voltage and clock
Sup guys, I'm running my I7-4930K@4.3GHz 1.25v stable. What's the max voltage you guys think would be fine for me to take it to 4.8GHz. I managed 4.5GHz at 1.35v too.
Those chips are trash at overclocking 😂
4th gen?! Jesus u need an upgrade
I don't see the need to upgrade
I had a i5 5th gen
Guys how much do u think i can overclock this ram - VENGEANCE LPX 16GB (2 x 8GB) DDR4 DRAM 3200MHz C16 Memory Kit - Black
0
depends on what the actual memory chips are, I had mine at 4500mts
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/328891236918493184/727241932430114986/sicc.PNG also do not try this if you have voltages on auto and/or dont know where your clear cmos is
Ah yes. My favorite channel.
Should I go with intel instead of Ryzen for turbo boost?
That's a weird reason to choose a processor
You do you ig
Reasoning is, AMD does pretty much the same thing
lol yeah thats not something to base a cpu choice on
Hey guys. Does Overclocking your GPU reduces its life span? I have a MSI 2070 super Gaming x trio. I added +125 on the coreclock and my temps is 59to60c
as long as you know what your doing it shouldnt, 60c is fine as long as its under 90-100c it probably wont reduce lifespan
thats lovely Forks
I didn't make it, lol, but ya, competition wallpapers are usually pretty cool
From the gskill competition
I just built my new pc and I was wondering how to safely overclock my ryzen 5 3600x
PBO
can u overclock with the wraith stealth, and if not, what budget air cooler should i get
and is the cooler pretty quiet
gammaxx and scythe make good coolers depending on budget
Gammaxx 400, Mugen 5 rev b, Fuma 2/Ninja 5 primarily
fuma2/revB is my go to for budget coolers, both from sythe
yeah ive got a revb its perfect and cheap
^^^ same, iirc the only difference is fuma2 has rubber feet on the fans, and one is a thin fan, while revb has 2 full sized fans
and the revb has a sketchy af name on amazon
lol something about the photos just being a heatsink is kinda funny
I have a Ryzen 5 2600 with a 240mm AIO cooler, are there any recommendation to what I should overclock it to?
wanna overclock my 1050ti paired with the i3 9100f (ik they r old) any recommendations?
To overclock you need to increase voltage bit by bit and very carefully. I recommend watching a lotta vids to get the most out of yr overclock
Check the pins for gpu overclocking advice, the 1050 ti is a pascal card.
Not much to do with the 9100F
yo quick question, ryzen or intel
Depends what you want
but what do u prefer personally
I have a intel core i7 9700k, is it worth spending more on a cooler inorder to overclock
ok
i don't really do that much other than hw and playing minecraft and valorant on my pc, is it nessesary to overclock
Because i am kinda on a tight budget and don't want to spend too much
I always say if you bought the K you must overclock
I wouldn't say "must" but you're paying a bunch of money for an unlocked multiplier, if you weren't going to use it you're kinda just burning however much extra the K version costs
I say this as someone who runs a 6700k OCd though
both my 8700k's are OC-ed
I always say if you bought the K you must overclock
@lone igloo there are some non 'K' series chips that are overclockable
how do i overclock my case
how do i overclock my chair?
get a razer chair
oh ight
No the chair needs RGB
how do i overclock my chair?
@runic star You put racing stickers on it
Make it go faster
how high would i be able to oc my 3600x if i use an h100i, without it getting too hot?
@gusty saddle It's a you won't know until you try thing
OCing differs a ton depending on the chip.
5.4 hertz bois!!
5.4 hertz is a very low number that would struggle to run a calculator
anyone know off hand what the max voltage you can g e n e r a l l y run a 2700 at on a beefy air cooler?
theres a few other sheets at the bottom
im seeing some people claiming to run 1.431v
but it really just depends on your chip, so just leave vcore alone
5 hz is barely faster than your turn signal
is there a sheet like this for zen1?
o i c
ty
lol im running at 3.825 ghz with 1.1v on a stock cooler but i just ordered a d15 so i wanted to get an idea of what to expect, the chart has no OCs lower than 3.9 ghz though probably because im running at very low voltage because of the mediocre cooler
Binning hundreds of chips
Binning hundreds of chips
@dark linden any of em working?
are you hired paid to do this
@dark linden any of them Lga 1151,if yes what kind u have
No 1151 that I know of
what are those
are you
hiredpaid to do this
@hoary oxide
I sell binned chips
is this a solo venture?
@hoary oxide
I sell binned chips
@dark linden could u dm me if you find an
any
and sell
Drop the k
Where’s the cpu 😐
@reef hollow on the table the gray line goes to the cpu
Is that just a small ac unit
@reef hollow
No it is a dual stage cascade phase change cooler. -105c
3.5 hp total
😳 wow
i feel like the power spent cooling your pc whould become a significant cost
My next Gen one will do -115c and the one after that should do -140c
i feel like the power spent cooling your pc whould become a significant cost
@hoary oxide
Not when it prints you money when you use it
Not when it's just 5 minutes of benching a dual core
Try 12 hours forks
what is the coolant that is changing phase?
That one used r404a on the first stage and r1150(ethylene) on the second stage
My next one is using r1270 on the first stage and a non-polar blend of r600a/290 and r50 on the second stage
i need wikipedia
These gasses are crazy dangerous to work with for building units if you don't know what you are doing
how so are they hazardous or flammable or all of the above
im pretty sure ethylene is just a hydrocarbon thats flamable at the very least
And best if something goes wrong when charging the unit you seriously damage the building you are in and put a hole through the wall. At worst you loose fingers or your life
nice fan
im pretty sure ethylene is just a hydrocarbon thats flamable at the very least
@hoary oxide
In the unit it isn't too dangerous but the cylinders are highly pressurized normally at 3000-3500 psi
oh my
And if you don't follow proper charging procedures for the second stage you will did once the unit is turned off
It will turn into a bomb if the second stage isn't static charged with higher than average summer temps with the first stage off
The system could easily enter a high pressure state of 800+ psi which will burst the compressor shell which will send shards of sharp steel shrapnel at you
do you work behind a blast shield
No
I work with my head out of my ass
I am fully epa certified with 608 universal and epa high pressure certifications
Mythical the kid who will definitely do something eventually that gets him killed
so you use this over liquid N2 because it can hold more consistent tempetures?
Because it works with the flip of a switch
for like longer runs?>
I use ln2 as well when I need colder temps
for like longer runs?>
@hoary oxide
For pre testing and binning chips
why do you need these temps to bin chips? wont your customers not have such exotic cooling systems?
I sell to guys who do ln2
Mythical is at like the level of overclocking where you should get money for it.
And good chips on air don't always equal good chips cold
And vise versa. I know some chips need to be cold to show their true colors.
Mythical is at like the level of overclocking where you should get money for it.
Well I get paid under federal minimum wage for this but I get paid to do a hobby that normally costs people thousands and thousands of dollars to do
I just do it in my free time
this has been some of the most interesting conversation I've had on discord
And vise versa. I know some chips need to be cold to show their true colors.
@restive cargo
Yeah voltage leak is a big factor and on stuff like Allendale negative cold scaling and stuff like that is a huge issue
This is the current cooler I am building
Not super pretty but it will do -110c
This is gonna be me in 10 years I'm calling it now.
Still has a lot of parts that need to be brazed in and then I have to do the entire second stage
wtf is your day job
This is gonna be me in 10 years I'm calling it now.
@restive cargo
Come down once covid is over and build a single stage
wtf is your day job
@hoary oxide
Broke college student
dank
Currently unemployed due to covid
I think underemployed is the technical term. Hours got cut in half
we have the same chineseium vacuum pump
That is just used for my super sketchy recovery tank

For pulling an actual triple evac I use a dual stage real vacuum pump. 30 microns within two minutes easily
You can see my fancy recovery tank that is definitely 1000% DOT approved next to the pump
Nah it is obviously a speed lab. CPU speed
Anyone know how 3070 overclocks?
why does it frame skip when I overclock my monitor
@sacred glade yea
just use msi after burner
and crank power limit and temp limit to max
and just start testing with core clock and memory clock
Thx it's my first build
Check the top pinned post for gpu overclocking advice.
question how far can i overclock a rtx 2070 super mini by zotac
Overclocking varies, every single chip overclocks differently because of microscopic differences.
anyone over locked a 7900x?
@wanton trench use Mai afterburner and run heaven in the background raise levels slightly and test until you get unstable then dial levels down. Just max power limit and voltage then increase clocks incrementally
Idk about memory though
Hey guys, anyone own a 5900X ?
How far have you managed to push the clocks to?
you know that it isn't released yet right
my 3900xt does 4.85 single core in r20, if that's what you're looking for
wooh that's very good
its also stock 😂
what do you mean, as i the cooler?
its watercooled, but not overclocked
is that with PBO?
its also stock 😂
but how, they only boost to like 4.6
they boost higher the colder you get them
I have a daily profile of 4.5 ccd1 and 4.35 ccd2 at 1.23v
yeah, it does a bit more from bclk
dont have a ss of the daily, but here's a bench from hwbot, 4.6/4.4 with 1.26 https://d1ebmxcfh8bf9c.cloudfront.net/u308494/image_id_2368625.png
i used to be able to do 4.4 on all cores at 1.35v, but left it on PBO as that way i could get to higher single core clocks. But now I can only do 4.3 at 1.35V
WOW that is mad. thats a very good bin
you're also not able to clock higher because you were running 1.35v for an extended period of time....
as in the chip wears out??
ah wait.. you have the XT
that makes sense
I have just the X
I built my pc not too long ago and shortly after they released the XT which i wanted to upgrade to. but now I'm waiting for the 5900X
Thought someone might find this interesting...
CPU: Ryzen 5 3600X (Year 2020 Week 31)
Motherboard: Gigabyte B550 AORUS ELITE Motherboard
RAM: 2x8 GB G.Skill Ripjaws V 3600C16 RAM (Hynix DJR A1)
Bios version F2 (out of box) 7/7/2020, AGESA v1.0.0.2: Max stable 3733MHz 16-16-20-22-38 1.37V, 1867MHz FCLK, 1.1V SoC; does not boot at 3800MHz with loose timings
Bios version F11d 10/29/2020, AGESA v1.1.0.0: Stable 3800MHz 16-16-19-21-36 1.4V, 1900MHz FCLK, 1.1V SoC
One have experience over locking skylake x processors?
i think so
sorry it took so long for me to check this channel
@elfin venture like a 6700k?
sky x, not sky k
well cant be too different
:mildpanic:
lol
Is +188 a good enough push on the core clock of a 2070?
i think
i have a 2070 too
mine is at 130 mhz
sooo
it depends whats the cooling
i will probably hit 200
just playin it safe
@sterile flame
cus mine is the asus rog strix
so very good cooling
probably the best 2070 stock cooler tbh
How does one get my cpu to not auto overclock like in ryzen master I can manually turn it off but each time my oc turns of I have to manually re turn off over clock
When I first turn on my pc after I finished building it it automatically over clocked
I would imagine you can turn it off in bios but why not leave it?
unless you are really worried about power consumption or something
in addition without some sort of overclock I imagine your RAM will be quite slow
tea
yea
ok
so
@summer solstice go to bios and go to cpu oc in the advance settings
right by like I said then we are underclocking the RAM (most likely)
there turn it off there
Nh d15 or arctic liquid freezer
both excellent options
Not sure tho
neither being really better than the other air vs aio
I know that but
If i get nh d15 i can save sum moneys
Not sure about clearance tho
Really
yep
Problem is I’ve tried the bios thing but it didn’t work
And also idk where that is on my mobo bios
Best ddr3 for 2000 oc?
I would just get some 1600 gskill and go for the OC its just going to cost too much to buy 2133 dd3 RAM today maybe troll ebay/craigslist
how much though?
Yet again...
Idk
I think $100
For a 4gb kit 😂
When i looked.....
That was 8 years ago
yeah the 8gb gskill 1600 that i had years ago and OC-ed to around 2000mhz is only $37.99
usd pricing I mean it is ddr3...
Ive seen ddr3 as much as ddr4
