Budget?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fGvRsY/thermaltake-case-ca1b800s1wn00 is this case good?
I'd change case and possibly psu/mobo
why?
For itx go cooler master nr200 or ssupd meshilicious imo
Depends on how much dad is willing to chip in, he's gonna help a bit but lets put max at 2.4k
or 2.5
Asrock intel boards are just crap generally
alrighty
Ahh grand, any asthetic preferences?
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower
Want wifi?
yems pls
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower
what mobo do you think I should go for then?
tbh that should be fine
Reasons for choices:
Intel is better and cheaper right now, and isn't a dead platform
MP33 is far better than P2 for the same price
A-GF is an A tier PSU for cheaper than the low B tier you had before, and you don't need more than 750W even when overclocking
Oh and the memory is lower latency
intel ahead rn but i think amd will pull somthing out and maybe take the lead back
search up your mobo
Instructions are in the manual
amd is only worth as an upgrade for people already with am4
or look at a video
its very simple
5800x3d is best gaming chip rn, but it's not that worth it imo
just make sure you have a usb drive
i didnt know that
USB still easier
I just slap the bios file in the root dir of one of my drives and send it from there.
FAT32 is basically open source but NTFS isn't also, so that's why literally everything supports FAT but not everything does NTFS
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
Yeah it's probably smart to do non-k and get a better GPU
leadex iii 850 kinda loud tho ngl
Hmm asrock seems to be your only decent option, the other itx boards are 250$
Pretty much every PSU has some small complaint
true
Except RMx as far as I'm aware
formula 750 is like $90
Won't hear it over the cpu/gpu anyway
so the one I had before is alright?
price 💀
The price
yeah its fine
alrighty ty
yw
Yeah asrock b660 itx looks like only way to go
Dass good
you get what you pay for
I got my RM850x on sale too, $110
i payed like 70 for my 650 watt power suppley
What's the problem with the revo d.f then 😛
ppl who bought a $700 1660ti 😐
Transient response
What's that again?
revo df case compatibility too
this is all I found for the 2nd one lol
Should be on newegg for like ~100
Short power spikes, usually the GPU saying "I NEED 800W!!!" for less than 0.1ms
bro my monitor keeps turning off then on for no reason
Ah right yeah, sorry brains been running for like 21hrs without sleep atm
I mean i got 8 hrs last night but currently 5am and no sleep yet
When i get on that plane I'll be out like a rock
this look all gud?
Btw you can just send the link from the yellow box
Also nr400 isn't itx
Nr200 is
Yes pato is a scammer, his name implies he's a tuber but he's not related to a potato at all
dangit
yea I just send a pic cuz I feel like its more convenient
damn Nr200 isnt on pc part picker
Tis
It's not showing up because you picked an atx power supply not SFF
Send me your link i can fix
Hello my fine fellow this is a question for homelab tbh not the newegg server (Newegg is real good but for questions like this Homelab is massively better)
i would suggest looking into a server with crackheads that extensively do server hardware instead
Afaik bob, who answered does this kinda stuff for work lol
ok good point but you know what im saying
Nah ive seen him hes half 1/3rd potato on his countries side
1 sec n gotcha
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F
that should be the right one
What's your total budget for this btw/what gpu you putting in?
for my budget prob about 800 besides gpu
well maybe a bit with the gpu
I meant overall
hm
ig so far besides gpu since I'm gonna use my gpu I have now before I get the real one 700
yea that sounds right
my brain is melting from not sleeping lol
Okay didn't realize you had gpu atm, what one is it? Just to make sure it fits?
3070 ti only 700 atm?
Pretty much
Has been for a bit
its a gtx 650 n it should fit since its not that large I'm not sure about what it is fully though its just gonna be a place holder till I eventually get maybe a 1060 ti or somethin from my friend and then eventually I'm gonna upgrade that to maybe a 2060 or 3060 idk though
wht 3060 ti 650
Oooooooooof, also 1060 ti isn't a card, how much budget would you have for a GPU?
dammit lmao I said the wrong name then
I forgot what its called but its somethin like that
uhh not sure I'm gonna get the gpu last and use my placeholder to actually run the pc
580*
1060 gb probably or 1660 ti, but you can get a 6600 for like 330, almost as good as a 3060
accidently hit 6
but still for just like 100-150 youcan get a 3070 ti
Personally I'd do this with the new gpu
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pTJXk9
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 6600, Cooler Master MasterBox NR200 Mini ITX Desktop
can you control rgb on trident z rgb ram sticks?
just a question why'd you add in a cpu cooler?
wouldnt it be a waste since it has one with the cpu
Stock cooler is fine for a bottom tier CPU but you'll get more performance out of the CPU from an aftermarket one
hm alrighty gotcha
2 reasons, to make the cpu cooler, to help cool the vrms
openrgb works on em
wdym
You can either use your motherboard RGB software or openrgb
there's g.skill's proprietary stuff
and mobo rgb software sometimes works
and then there's openrgb
i will use gigabytes rgb software because i got a gigabyte mobo
proprietary garbage*
all of them kinda are bad
Yeah but I've never seen the g.skill software work, at all
Np
fun
Is openrgb the go to rgb software?
Yes, generally
signal rgb sucks
Aight cool
SignalRGB is ok if you like fancier effects but can use more CPU time, and not all the effects are free
How much cpu does openrgb use?
openrgb has very nice plugin available for effects
For more basic stuff, maybe 2-3% of one core
Oh ok. Thats like.. nothing lol
Yeah, I like mine to be practical so I set it to CPU temp. It changes, Green, Yellow, then Red as the CPU heats up.
Uses maybe 4%
how should i buy my OS?
Windows I'm assuming? There's cheap keys available but they're grey market technically so can't link them here.
You can still use Windows 7 or 8 keys off an old PC to activate.
I like that idea.
Although I want my fans to be green/purple mix instead of just green.
And I can set at what temp they change color yeah?
Yep totally customizable
Sweet.
You'll need this plugin for temp-based monitoring https://gitlab.com/OpenRGBDevelopers/OpenRGBHardwareSyncPlugin
how do you use it
Alright cool.
OpenRGB or the plugin?
openrgb
Open it, it auto detects your RGB (if compatible), and you can pick each device mode, or even individual LEDs and effects
i got it
One thing to add here is make sure u launch it as admin the first time
becasue oof the virus thing?
u can launch not as admin after that
needs to set stuff up
well i didnt
I was looking at the update logs and noticed controller support. Which leads me to ask.. if I have my argb plugged into a controller then maybe it won't work?
Like I have an antec controller.
it will
Ok. Was just a little confused
What do you need help with? Just ask here.
That way multiple knowledgeable people can help instead of just 1 person.
Tnx but i got help from another person
can someone help my nzxt fans are connected to this splitter and they are spinning bud i cant controle it
Want to swap the MB for an ASUS Prime z690M-Plus will this impact the build?
why tho?
Fans connected via splitter can't be controlled separately, you can "control the header" where it is attached, but all the fans will go the same speed
Or is the problem completely different?
You may not even be able to check the speed from the rpm so you must know the maximum fan speed so you can choose the best curve for your fans...
@random rapids
It's not worth it, 100$ more for a board basically the same quality except it can overclock
Try switching the header mode. If it's on DC set it to PWM, or vice versa.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yPLL9r is this a good build?
not really
you can do better for the price now
Suggestions?
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3060
@sour panther I tried making a "decent" build, I'll ask @frank stirrup opinion...
You then choose case, cooler, and storage
As always
Probably better to do 12400 and 3060 ti or 3070
Yeah, maybe the 12600 is too much, I couldn't find 3060tis at a good price, maybe something good can by from on Amazon
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
The cooler
💀
Nothing wrong with gammaxx 400 especially for 20$
I mean, its a bit ....
...mmmh ...
Ugly?
In my opinion
Then he can buy what he wants
12400 same price right?
I mean id cooling se 224 xt/vetroo v5 are also good options that may look a bit nicer but nowadays i think 30$ is too much for them with coolers like frost spirit/peerless assassin being 40$
P sure pcpp is just being weird again
15$ more
On pcpp?
Ye
Amazon had it for $160
Did you see they added that msi b660 pro might need bios update??
Is there a case where i can mount it under the desk?
So I am looking at two different video cards
-
EVGA GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR 12 GB FTW3 ULTRA GAMING Video Card
-
MSI Radeon RX 6900 XT 16 GB GAMING X TRIO Video Card
Which is better?
Pcpp did?
Ye look at my list again then the errors
6900xt is a bit better in non ray tracing, in ray tracing 3080 wins
Prolly crap
@stoic island know anything on this?
So basically it’s preference? I am considering the msi over the other
If anyone has any recommendations on upgrades please lmk, I play eSports titles OW, R6, COD but I am also getting into streaming heavier games.
Case: Lian Li O11 Air Mini Tempered Glass ATX Mini Tower Computer Case

PSU: G.Skill 850 Watt Power Supply, 80 Plus Gold
why do you think you need an upgrade?
why would that be?
Idk
I just asked chimp and e-man and they said it's just pcpp being weird and not to worry about it
yea
None of this is bought yet so I just want to see if everything I have is good
@fossil cedar looked again, pcpp prob got confused because 12900ks takes a new update, everything else is fine still
it'll be just fine
do send a full pcpp list with everything you plan to buy though
Is there a device to connect all your rgb case fans to instead of a daisy chain?
just so people here can help pick better components if needed
Apparently they made an entire line. I didn't know about it til I started looking into PSU's xD
If sticking to AMD, gonna go with 2000$ as budget rn:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WhQvjZ
I'll make an Intel alternative too
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
Only gskill I saw on cultists was a c tier lol
ye
Headphones should be swapped for smth else imo, if you don't need wireless, pc37x
if you do need wireless, meh, something else
Monitor could also be swapped
Basically same thing but with 12600kf and cheaper:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6Rcz6r
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
That isnt the exact monitor, just the closest to what is in my microcenter cart and the headset is preferred wireless
Is whisper m same price?
And I would prefer the same case since I will be moving locations every few months so a mini ATX is best for me
whisper m also has short hold up time, although not as bad as agf
o11 air is not small, I'd like to point that out, it's wide as heck
Formula gold 750 should be a good bit cheaper aswell, it's a good option
p400a might even be smaller than o11 air
Both of em are cwt gpu, so they're close enough in general anyways
But I just remember revo df doing better in testing
revo df is close enough to rated plat too smh
just keep in mind mini atx is just a stubbier motherboard, if you want actually small, you'll want to do itx
also means less cable management space
Well p400A is definitely taller since it's a normal case, while air mini is wider for where it has the psu.
Ye, air mini is just not that much smaller
it's not like nr200p or anything actually small
Indeed. Even an matx air mini would be pretty stout
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/s7KQPX on this list there is an error and also shows that i should pick an operating system but it doesnt have widows 12. where do i find that?
And does this build allow for the ethernet to connect to it?
It doesn't say anything about an OS and Windows 12 doesn't exist
But yes every motherboard these days has ethernet
Ignore the error also, any z690 mobo should already support the 12700K
pcpp has been doing dumb things
So have people. Pcpp is made by people. They could perhaps only do that error on mobos/setups likely to be effected, like a b450 mobo w/ a 5600g
With how new the 5600 is there's a decent chance even a B550 won't have the needed bios version
That too, but they shouldn't show the "dumb" error for Intel setup unless it's 1 saying "hey bozo z590 mobo doesn't go w/ a 12600K", etc.
thanks
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qfN4Mb
Here is my updated one, the motherboard and CPU bundle on microcenter is $440 and has wifi built in which is a plus since I am not guaranteed ethernet all the time
this is what it said
Warning: The MSI PRO Z690-A DDR4 ATX LGA1700 Motherboard supports the Intel Core i7-12700K 3.6 GHz 12-Core Processor with BIOS version 7D25v11. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.
Yea as I said stock bios probably works, that's how Intel often is.
Btw to put your mind at ease I'll show you how 12700K is supported since the 1st bios, I checked. A0 was the 1st, & there's 2 after that so you could maybe update it later if you felt like it.
Hey all, want to build first system. Budget 2500, would like intel w/3080. Can anyone recommend cpu/gpu/board combos to get me started. Thanks
Umm depends what you want to do with it
yeah ill probably just update it if i can
Figured yea
sure
Yeah that makes sense that's what i figured
What country are you in?
Saved Part Lists
this one was recommended to me
Hi Pato, US
Okay 1 sec
thank you this is perfect
i liked it too when i saw it
Perhaps think about Frost Commander because 5800x runs warm afaik. Otherwise pretty fine. Could check psu tier list & look for an A tier thouh. Often a few for similar price to the one you had listed
I'd do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Mpq89r
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
This is cheaper and better
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vsyrv3
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
thank you. that looks great.
Would you prefer the K or KF cause I found the K for cheaper
No problem
Sure, the kf doesn't have integrated graphics whereas the k does
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KxLL9r
Updated build GPU is $700, and 12600k is $250, Monitor is $200, total of the build outside of pcpp is $2,079.34 with taxes and $100 headset
for laptop ram do the timings matter?
Sneaky Boi
Laptop ram often just has much higher cL than pc ram. For instance 3200 cL 20 or 22 VS 3200c16, but it's common. If you mean adding a stick, yes timings should match.
yeah, just planning to buy a pair of 3200 cl22 ram and wasn't sure if that was normal lol
Basically no because they'll run jedec
how would a z690 board have a bios too old to boot 12700K lol
only if you have a chad MSI laptop that allows ram oc
otherwise just look for 3200 22-22-22-52 1.2V
some laptop ram has 3200 xmp profile that isn't supported by most laptops so you might buy it and end up not being able to run 3200 on them
Whole lotta no
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR, Lian Li O11 Air Mini ATX Mid Tower
I'd also do g27q over that monitor
240hz us useless for most people, unless you play competitively for money
I left the case since i figured you liked the look
But personally I'd do p360a
You could maybe flash the spd with rweverything
Depends if the laptop bios lets you
I do plus I found a lg 240hz monitor for $200 which is around the same price as some 144hz. Really the only thing I am stuck inbetween is the 3070ti or the 3080. The 3080 is $150 added to my current plan but both work more than needed
I’d go with a 3070 ti. I got a 3080 for 1000 and I definitely didn’t need it like it’s basically a flex at this point but if you can get a 3080 for like less than $900 which there are a couple go for it
Ok, thank you
3080 is a good boost over the 3070 ti
And with the other changes I made to the build, its similarly priced overall
The actual pricing of pcpp is $1930.29 if the GPU was priced correctly thats keeping the same parts the same price in pcpp like the CPU and Monitor. If I do your PSU and SSD then its $15 cheaper but I would rather use brands that I have experienced first hand.
@timber slate at least swap the SSD for s70 blade, it's the same price for basically a 980 pro
And the PSU for a revolution d.f. 850w or whisper M 850w
Better psus at the same price
G6 if you want to stick with EVGA, but expensive
Welp, I would still rather suggest a different case, for a smaller case, something like a nr400
Also the gigabyte 3070 ti at $700 over than 3070 ti
Or the 3080 I put in the parts list
okay
What's your budget for the build
I'll make you a list
I mean
sorry for not making it clear but i was looking for an itx board for 12th gen, are there any suggestions
but those are not itx
Theyre matx
but matx does not fit tu150
Are you dead set on the case?
yes i am going to be moving the computer around and it has a nice handle and is very small
perfectly fits my needs
Where are you going to me moving it around to...
between houses
Out of those mobos, the cheapest option will work
would you recommend running the 12600k on the b660m-itx/ac from asrock
okay is it because the vrms will get too hot
oh ok
I dont know enough about the other boards to suggest one
Not the 610
The gigabyte b660 might be alright, depending on price
Iirc the giga ones had memory issues at launch but should be fixed by now
yes
The asrock one will have to work ig
I'd check vrms
The vrms are mid at best
Power delivery on the asrock z690 itx can only output 150w 💀
All the other mobos that fit the case they want are over $200
8 phase power delivery too 💀
Gotta watch out for cooler compatibility on most itx lga1700 boards too, some can't even take an aio or anything because of the heatsinks
is amd better choice for itx then
or would it be better to pay up for better 12th gen board
Eh
I'll take a look
Doesn't seem like it
I'd just go with the asrock 660
Could also just go down to a 12400 as well... not like it's that far behind
yes 12400 would be better if the board cannot handle the 12600k
what about for rgb fans? are there any value a-rgb ones
or does that not really exist
P12 argb I think exists
is $17 a steep price for an item like that
for one
Too much
are id-cooling rgb fans ok then
@earnest olive didn't you get some of these?
Ive used other up here fans and they got fairly loud after a bit, not sure if those would be the same
oh not ideal then
Those may be a different bearing but that's just my personal experience
they are cheap fans so i would not doubt it
my favorite cpu is the intel core i3090 ti 5900sx pro max and my fav gpu is the nvidio gfight rt 4090 ti pro
my opinion is correct
bruh 😂 everybody left cus my opinion is so epic
🤡
?
looking to build a productivity/space for pics pc,
ryzen 5 5600g
msi a520-a
2 x 8gb 3600
250gb nvme
2tb hd
rosewill case
evga br 450w 80+ bronze
any changed i should make?
price is around 530
so the uphere fans are indeed very loud
thank you for the heads up @desert gulch
Does anyone know of a good high pressure rgb fan to put on the se-224-xt? or is this not advised
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PYJZ4RY maybe i will go with this
whats your total budget?
eh, 650 would be near the max
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 5 5600G, Thermaltake Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower
for 650 one sec
could you buy a used gpu?
if you could find a 1050 ti or smthn around that for a decent price
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Thermaltake Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower
with increasing budget just a bit more to include tax, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kzzwgb would be good
PC Builder - Intel Core i3-12100F, Radeon RX 6500 XT, Thermaltake Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower
You gonna have to get a new ssd or hdd because 512 go gets used very quickly
Sooner or later
depends on use
really just meant for excel/docs/storing pics
i dont think a decent gpu like a 1050 ti is necessary
ah
then the 5600g one i made is fine, or i can make a cheaper one if youd like
12100 price sucks
otherwise id do that
What about i5
not worth for the use case
tho ig compared to 5600g maybe
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400, Thermaltake Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower
yeah no need for 12400 since he is doing really basic stuff.
thank you, i think this works great for me 👍
I was just looking over the very same products lol
@mossy venture nice build but id go with corsair or gskill for ram and wd for ssd
otherwise nice build
It's for someone else. MP33 is a well known SN550 competitor and g.skill 3200c16 would be $5+ more is why it's not on there.
plus, also the lower-end corsair kits are nothin special.

thats fair
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 3060 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
Is this set up good enough
What have you bought already?
HI
That liquid cooler isn't nearly good enough for a 12600k to start
Nothing rn, just planning
Ok, what's your budget looking like?
guy do pc part picker daliver to uk
2000 but preferably lower if possible
pcpartpicker has a UK website, they link to UK retailers
can uu give me it
US?
Yes
Entry Level Intel Gaming Build
oooo
@potent portal what you think i found it on pcpartpicker website
Not bad. 12100 is happy enough at 3200 c16. The SSD choice filter could use work to select only tiered drives. The case is fine if you like the 2006 look.
That PSU though... That could be hazardous, tier E for e-waste
Great AMD Gaming Build
this too
Enthusiast AMD Gaming/Streaming Build
oh maybe if you slap a 4000D can cut the price a bit
@leaden plume Do you need/want wifi on the motherboard?
What does wifi on a mobo do lol
I forgot
Just lets you connect to your router wirelessly instead of having to use a cable
Ok then yes wifi
I use an old router as a wireless adapter in bridge mode, 1Gb over wifi goes noooom
💀

Starter suggestion, other input welcome
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12400F, GeForce RTX 3070 Ti, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
Ok I like it
Just I dont like 3070ti
WD Green drive ☠️
3060ti is better for its price imo
Idk
If you're targeting 1440p high refresh in anything other than valorant, then having a more powerful GPU is worth it.
The 3070 ti is about 25% better at about 25% more money right now. It scales pretty well atm.
Also what was wrong with the previous motherboard
Asrock and Intel do not get along at all
They artificially limit the processor using out of spec power limits to make up for having cheap VRM
Ok
Higher end asrock boards are ok but not these budget level boards
Whats better about micro atx
asus KO 2 fan 3070 is $630 at asus.com currently, just sayin. Almost right in between the $550 and $700 of the 60 ti and 70 ti, lol.
Interesting, yeah I would have put that if it was on pcpp
There's little difference in real world application between 70 and 70 ti
Indeed. The non ti just happens to be sort of "rare" most of the time lately.
Does a 12400 need a 240mm or 360mm aio
nope, peerless assassin or similar would be plenty
chooses chooses haha
@potent portal no dont give me that face
stop its not cursed guys
It is cursed for 2 reasons: 64GB, and 3600C18 at that price
Same price as I paid for 3600c16 ballistix.
(I mean would be if I bought 64GB)
Plus the royals are mostly more expensive just for the pretty colors
well 1 i want 64GB ram 2 i cant find 3600 CL 16 or i would get it
like doesnt exist
Pro tip, don't get 64GB unless 100% actually need it - pretty sure you don't. way too much ram is 1 of the dumber flexes people can do.
I'd do this instead

PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
im gunna run (gaming) VMs
12400 doesn't need an aio at all
What ab a 12600k
Finally got around to looking at this one and... I have some concerns lol.
5800X is not worth it, and X570 is wholly unneeded unless you're doing SLI or RAID. Swap the X570 for B550 and get 5800X3D. Or save money and go 5700X.
Pretty sure that DRP cooler is just barely going to cut it on one of the hottest CPUs that exists. There's other choices.
3200C16 is awful for high end Ryzen.
The cooler i put in the list will handle a 12600k perfectly fine although an aio makes way more sense on it
why pcpartpicker have bad guides
Is it a problem if the mobo is more expensive than the cpu
Because they're made by random people that don't always know about parts quality and value
anyone want a radio
Alot of the mobos arent conpatible with the 12400 or the 12600k because of bios versions
And only the expensive mobos are compatible
false warning
That's just pcpp being dumb
for what
any 600 series board will be compatible
That's a false positive, use this list
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HhZ7Rv
PC Builder - Intel Core i5-12600KF, GeForce RTX 3070 LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
pcpp has been putting warnings on some B660 and Z690 boards that they might need bios updates, which is false
Oh
Weird
It's not like the boards launched after the CPUs, they launched together and unless they have a bios version that's literally a test version from the factory, they don't need to be updated
Micro atx motherboard in a mid tower case looks really weird
Personally I like it because it's easier to manage/hide cables
But that's down to preference
Yeah but theres alot of empty space
Get creative. Make a LCD display or something for the gap.
But you can get full ATX if you want
Not really, unless you're looking at it straight on, you wont be able to see between the gpu and the power supply shroud
the only cpu (I know of, for Intel) that current 600 series mobos might not support w/ their factory bios is the "special" 12900KS because it's a lot newer than others. pcpartpicker is just being a safety nanny.
Whats a lcd display
@analog pulsar If you must have 64GB https://pcpartpicker.com/product/29gQzy/gskill-ripjaws-v-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-4000-cl18-memory-f4-4000c18d-64gvk
Rgb
Correct
Kenzie? Why do you want 64gb?
Fine, with RGB https://pcpartpicker.com/product/RjzFf7/gskill-trident-z-rgb-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-4000-cl18-memory-f4-4000c18d-64gtzr
VMs apparently
Having 64gb will actively hurt your performance over cheaper faster 32gb
Vms?
How many??
😁
Kenzie how many vms would you be running at once? And whyyy?
32gb is plenty for 3 vms
no
It is
A little screen, like this https://youtu.be/RTdniu3gn3Y

Ironically, could easily fit in the front of any case if we still had 2 or 3 spots for a cd drive.
32gb is enough to give each vm 9gb each and leave 5gb of system ram
games
Front LCDs used to be a thing, they were built into "premium" cases but died out pretty fast like mid-2000s
And 3D printing solves that anyway, just print a mount that will attach to the front of your case
Oh yeah some software that was in beta + dummy plugs
wym beta
its parsec
@analog pulsar
I'd do this personally
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hFdrxr/gskill-trident-z-neo-64-gb-4-x-16-gb-ddr4-3600-cl16-memory-f4-3600c16q-64gtznc
Oh mkay
Lots of fads sure make temporary comebacks soemtiems.
okay
It's a bit more but at least you get those tighter timings
4x16 tho, it'll take some tuning of the IMC
It might
What's a IMC
How much performance gain would 3600 cl 16 give over cl18?
Integrated Memory Controller
would it be noticeable
Picked that on purpose for the tighter timings, 12th gen has s good imc anyway
Ah right 12th gen, might be ok then
Over 3200c18 or 3600c18?
Which CPU?
I’m using a 5800x
Get 3600c16
Yes it's noticeable to me when I upgraded
Also if you haven't bought the 5800x yet, have you already got an amd board?
If not there's no point in going and these days
I have it already was just wondering if it would be a noticeable upgrade
@potent portal sorry i forgot to post list https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Jayson1156/saved/nXJyWZ like stuff that goes with ram
Gaming PC - Intel Core i7-12700K, GeForce RTX 3050 8GB, Fractal Design Torrent RGB ATX Mid Tower
minus gpu thats not suppose to be there
If you already have 3600c18 imo it wouldn't be worth the money unless you can put that ram to use in another pc in your house or something
Might be able to overclock instead, 3800c18 would be an improvement
PLEASE DON'T PUT 64GB RAM WITH A 3050 💀
boi gpu is not there
minus that i said'
Hmm?
im waiting for 4000 series
Okay
.
AMD does better with VMs
Their driver specifically allows the VM to use the GPU how you want instead of having to tweak the nvidia one
@analog pulsar you gonna be cpu overclocking?
Although parsec might have a workaround as iirc linus didn't have a hard time with it
here is list i was planning on buying 3050 as a temp card but we found away around that im just using Geforce now
idk i did what linus did in video and it worked
everything was smooth
^^^@analog pulsar
Parsec might have the tweaks embedded
i wanna learn
Okay
houses caughts on fire
Because if not you could have saved like 100$ on the board +cpu just asking
I mean huh
yea ik
well gamer nexus said aio will fit in front
It will, but then you need to move the 180 fans to the bottom where they barely fit (pinches my cables) and toss out the included 140s
no i toss 180 out and just keep 140
The... whole point of the case... is the 180s
but i like the look of the case
@analog pulsar
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BKRxH2
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700K, Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower
Every non nzxt case has positive pressure lol
I will think about it
@analog pulsar did you like sell your good desktop for some reason and get a cheap one? Now you are building another one?
Well I for cheap one bc I got bored of just watching tv but now I have job I can buy a good pc
Ah ok.
But yea I sold my last pc for car then I was using a i3 computer I was like man I can't do this so I went into Facebook market place and found a i7 3770k for $75 whole pc so I coped it and been using that until I just got better internet now I'm using GFN with a 3080 but I would like to have my own pc
how long you guys think will 3080 last? keeping up with todays game and future 3A titles
Resolution and Ray traced or raster(non ray tracing)?
Well seeing as how well a 1660 on 1440P performs on high settings on most games a 3080 will last years as well at 1440P high settings even max on most
I'd say ~4 years from now for non ray tracing personally
Yea partially depends on how crappily optimized some future games are combines w/ their gfx requirements at the same time.
A lot of it depends on how willing someone is to lower settings to play new games vs. how willing they are to reach into their wallet
reaches into wallet
no way this arrives tmro bruh
from ontario to florida 💀
and still no updates
since last week
I always use the tracking # on the shippers site over whatever website I ordered from, usually the shippers site is more updated. Also, I've had packages that seemed "stuck in one place" arrive to me on the expected date without there being any updates that it was even close.
All my parts are finally ordered should be able to build it this coming Wednesday. I’m excited haven’t been back in the master race for some time now
Whenever anyone uses the words "master race" together
I mean if we are talking about the aryan race👀 jkjkjk
top tier pc gaming isn't always a hardware spec aone
cpu power used to dominate early mmo pvp and raiding content, later fps ruled over first person shooters and combat simulators..
But overall content skill should remain the dominant factor....
I've mastered and forgotten games based on the desired content alone, it makes me a seasonal gamer which is halarious in itself.
Fps is just hands down better with mouse n keeb tho
@fossil cedar is fast ram important for stuff
I mean I had 3200 and it was good at gaming
Fast ram will help with cpu speed
On that I agree with, Cpu, Gpu, and Ddr speed are the primer for a gaming pc, more so than HD type or exotic controllers with only one exception.
Oh
That would be Flight and Space Combat Sims, Mouse and Keys work for anything else like MMO's FPS, and RPGS
@analog pulsar Imagine gaming on ddr3 2333 or ddr2 1866?
nope cant imagine
that matches a pc upstairs I built eleven years ago, now my nephew wants a pre built Alienware.

It's run by a AMD Phenon Black Edition if I remember, he won't even me drop a AMD FX 8350 in it...
oh no
an alienware
No no Alienware is what he's buying to surpass his kids
that's the point, Alienware sad

I built three of them Asus B450 Plus Tuf Gaming with Ryzen 1500X and GTX 1660 Supers, now upgrading them years later to Ryzen 5600X and used RTX 2080's and 3600Mhz ram
The Alienware will get smoked out of the box
it's crazy how Alienware has literally been using the same chassis for like
a decade
and they decided to engineer around it instead of retooling and making a better chassis
Alienware PCs probably have more plastic then silicon
It's fine
It has rgb so it's 100% good
lmao
I grew to hate RGB
or was it the controllers, manufacturer custom cabling that isn't RGB or ARGB
Either way cases a decorated with preset or case controlled RGB or LED fans now
those are nice
no headaches
well, at least on use
setup and cable management is another thing lol
ah ok thx
I've also tossed in Funko Pops to stand on the video cards in the lighting...
honestly I'm surprised they don't melt
yeah it just updated 2 hours ago it's finally near the area
i thought it wasent comming for a min
I'm only scared of ordering from China myself, ie the dreaded 3-22 days
false
no PC is better than an alienware at producing smoke
get a piece of polypropylene to sit under them unless you're putting them on the very edge of the graphics card
have seen funko pops with melted feet before
yeah back when my PC only had room to put something near the core I used polypropylene
now I can put something on the edge and it's still cold so it doesn't matter
Does double sided tape count?
I wouldn't
polypropylene is not that rare you can identify it in food packaging with the recycle symbol
I just got some little plastic lids that were labelled as polypropylene
iirc it's 5 but google it to confirm
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hLKTY9 is the list solid?
Would go 12th gen today
Corsair ram is sad
SN850 is expensive, xs70 or s70 blade is basically the same thing for cheaper
O11 isn't great, would rather use a different case
Horribly based
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 10GB LHR, Lian Li O11 Air Mini ATX Mid Tower
Do this instead
Lian Li O11 Air Mini ATX Mid Tower Case??
Kept the white theme pretty much, get way better cpu, better ram and more of it, 2tb ssd instead, almost as fast, better case
It's an atx case in disguise
@winter marsh don't avoid the swear filter
It's roomy, vented, and available for $50.00 usd open box
Its meh tbh
I purchased one to seat a MSI Mag B550 Gaming Edge WiFi for a brat
$50
right.
yup.
seller is actually a clown if they think they can get $165 + tax for this lol
yikes
If you want a good cheap case go one of the cougar mx330/mx331 variants
I went with 11th gen because it was $100 cheaper when I bought it for like what maybe 5% increase
Everything is already ordered I was just seeing what everyone else thinks but I’m the type of person that would sacrifice performance for aesthetics and the 12700f is a good option but I’d rather have the K sku for a moderate overclock which is why I went with 11th gen k sku for overclocking purposes and I found one for $250
@lime jay #build-pics message whats fans are those
100$ cheaper than a 260$ 12600k and a 130$ b660?
The list i sent you is cheaper and better?
"i'd rather have the K sku to overclock my inferior product to continue to lose to the next gen's lower end products"
PC Builder - AMD Ryzen 9 5900X, GeForce RTX 3090, Corsair 4000D Airflow ATX Mid Tower
How is this for a build?
also, why ask if the list is good after ordering everything already lmao
people keep doing this and i cannot understand the logic behind it
I didn’t order anything yet
not you
I know lol
3090? Are you just gaming?
And streaming
Or is it for production
And vr
No point going 3090 then
PC Builder - Intel Core i9-12900K, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P500A D-RGB ATX Mid Tower
Prolly like ~400
Would it be more worth selling my whole rig as one or the gpus separately?
Depends, what's your pc?
Spaceship
I built my friends new pc for them so they gave me their old one for $200
They got a 3070 ti build
Can’t really say no to that
Damm
HEDT + 120mm alienware aio
thermal throttling to 1.5 ghz

Please don't it sucks
Also proprietary Garbo from dell
turning extreme edition into explosion edition
Lmao
Probably shouldn’t rebuild in the same case
I think the thing weighs like 50 lbs
I could if I really wanted to. I would find a way
unless you want to buy a newer dell motherboard lmao
i mean technically it's possible, but it's not worth the hassle
you'd need to dremel out room for a standard power supply
make your own ATX motherboard standoffs
Also just not enough cooling
Yeah with a drill and a metal stamper you could
A whopping 3 fans lmao
rewire the front panel to work with a standard motherboard
somehow i doubt even the fans have standard connectors
doesn't dell use 5 pin fans or something?
I wouldn’t be surprised
so you'd need to some suspicious wire splicing or whatever, who knows
all to continue using an absolute piece of garbage case
Is the hassle of liquid cooling a pc worth it?
It's not hassle and yes
@fossil cedar do u know of a decent cpu fan i could get
what cpu
5700g
Custom water
but its been hitting 80c lately which it never did before
why do you have a 5700g paired with a 6900xt toxic or whatever
80c is perfectly fine
Get an ak620 imo
on idle its at 60-70
sounds like stock cooler moment
Imo no
not dangerous
yea stock cooler

I wanna do water just because it looks cool but idk if that is practical or not
I'm guessing pbo off tho which is sad
this?
Haha reaper dailies this exact config
Yup
Awful
It's not worth it value wise also a lot of effort
I mean, it's a 7980xe at stock
from what i understand you can delid those chips and put them under 420mm custom water and they'll still barely push into the low 4s
2666 jdec I think
Nah, can do 4.5 very easily with a delid
under alienware aio probably throttling down to 3ghz
More like 4.8 probably, and 33 mesh
Alienware sucks
The 10xxx chips clock a bit higher
Idk why my friend ever bought this pc
Dell ruined them
4.8 sounds really high for a 7980xe
Were they ever good?
wouldn't you be pushing like 700 watts at that point?
Alienware used to have good models yeah
My 9980xe could do 4.9 on cold water, those gens clock similarly
ah chilled
My grandparents are gonna give me 12k for a car
I’m gonna spend more of that on a pc than a car
Why are you buying a pc before college
You don't needa spend 2k+ to get good perf tho, could definitely drop price a good bit, not loosing much perf
Don't spend more on a pc than a car
That was very much so a joke
A fully kitted out PC, best possible specs, rgb, custom loop, shouldn't cost more than 3.5k
The car I want shouldn’t be more than 5-6k
My friend spent 4.5k on a 3070ti build
💀
Oof, horrible deal. Prebuilt?
@broken lake like here, save almost a grand, little to no perf difference
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q7r89r
PC Builder - Intel Core i7-12700F, GeForce RTX 3080 12GB LHR, Phanteks Eclipse P400A Digital ATX Mid Tower
Spent 2k on just the card
3070 ti wasn't even out at peak gpu time
Bruh
The peak price on a 3090 was like 2.3k
That's literally impossible
2.5k more like
And did it
Still
They are kinda stupid
I think they thought because it was more expensive it would be better
And that is not how that works at all
And I really wish I was joking
Yeah... We see those people a lot here
even at the very worst time for gpus you could get 3070tis for $1100
What is your build?
Not 2.5 2
Oh that looks nice
cost a little bit more than his gpu lol
Which is insane
you could definitely see the top tier 3090s going for 2.8-3k at some point
How
45 fps
What shaders are you using
Bruh my laptop could run sildurs on high lmao
Even optifine will max out a 3090
Isn't it capped at 300 unless you mod it
I didn’t get the beta for ow2 sadge
But same game 🙃
I heard it’s pretty bad tho
Forks when you are gonna buy a 6950xt?
but i stopped playing ow1 in like 2017
I’ve been watching ow league to try and get a drop
i got a drop from the day where everyone could get one
guaranteed
if you just watched 4 hours in the 8 hour window
I was on vacation
just get a 3080ti
That’s probably what I’ll end up doing
3080 12gb better value
My end goal is stream games on high graphics
@earnest olive would this work with a 3080 ti
sure, but there's pretty much no difference between 3080 12gb and 3080ti
depends on what price you can find them at
i've seen some used 3080tis at insane prices lately
Same except playing support felt awful
pharmercy is still op
good enough for me
kind of funny i was a support main in ow1 but now all of my friends are support mains so i have to play dps
That's not limited to 1 day btw
ty all
