#building-and-recc-chat
1 messages · Page 1289 of 1
That's the thing... I don't think it's part of that
It's separate from the power, reset, hdd led, etc
Ye hopefully
Budget?
i’m trying to decide if i should keep or get rid of the 9400f
What's the budget?
And what do you have currently? Like can you reuse ram or is it 2133 or something
Reuse storage maybe?
I mean you can fit them in a brand new build now
Yes
When will you be buying
two months maybe rn i’m just deciding if it’s worth reusing 9400f or not
Ehh for 1.2k I'd say no
ill be buying a 200+ dollar case soonish lol
Obviously this list would be slightly different in 2 months but if you were to do rn I'll whip up a list for that
well i could spend 1.2k but i’m trying to save money, that’s all
So by going 9400f it would be roughly $950
Mkay 1 sec
That is not power led
@little osprey https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mcK9GL
Thats pretty small, wayy smaller than torrent
Why
I had the medium size one added, you sure?
As soon as I add the 24 pin connector, my build is as good as done
I just need to experiment with my RAM
I mean atx is just taller like
Ohh i didn't see that
You could do o11 air mini
hm, facts
i’ll have to research cases
i want it to be something pretty original and not overused ones
unique ig
make a cardboard box case
maybe i’m being too picky here
and paint it
Hmmm
@bitter mason So only one pair of my RAM appears to be compatible at a time...
The C00LF is compatible with the other C00LF, same with B00LF to the other, but using all four of them doesn't allow the device to post
It just makes the PC stuck in a failed boot loop where the case fan spins
is this after attempting to apply xmp or is this at default settings
have you tried a CMOS clear
Every single time i load up my pc it does this how do i make it stop.. i have to constantly choose the other account
maybe some of your ram slots are faulty, try slots 1/3 and 2/4 separately
default
fortunately my 8x2 GB 2400 ram works
Why does it say I can't run windows 11
enable tpm in bios or do a bios update to one that is windows 11 ready by default
I'm stuck on something else now
I'm not in a position where using the ethernet is viable so I bought a tplink internet adapter
Except I need to download a driver
I don't have a usb charger cord
I've been using a laptop charger for my phone for over a year now
lmao
Eh could a usb work?
If I were to download the driver from my laptop onto a usb?
Lol😂
absolutely nobody in the world has ever used an O11
definitely get that one
make sure you also fill it up with some unifans for maximum uniqueness, that combo has never been seen before
Oh wow, really? I am bamboozled by this information
don't forget your funko pop and supreme sticker on the front glass
me with my vayne statue
ok but this vayne statue is cooler than a funko pop
Now that my PC is mostly done... I have one final inquiry
GPU drivers
Do I need to install them?
Or is it pre-installed?
Somehow have Vsync off on desktop
Will need to download GPU drivers
I'm deciding if I want to grab a different case before I slap all my collected stickers on it.
Yoooo nice
can i ask a tech support related question here?
Go ahead
i unplug and replug my computer a lot because i live with a lot of people and have to move around a lot. lately right after i plug it in it wont turn on right away. i have to wait like 10 or 20 seconds and then it will turn on
i havent had any issues besides that tho
is the power supply failing?
smh
no more ketchup and mustard
sad
you should get red and yellow custom cables
do you turn it off before you unplug it?
hopefully lol
yea ofc lol
you'd be surprised
I saw someone who actually just turned off their PC by unplugging it
lol probably right
and didn't care when we said that can damage your components
like they would do that every night
wow lol
No, ur epic
unfortunately I don't really know the answer to your question
maybe the capacitors are charging up
dunno
ok i might ask on a forum or reddit or something then
if you turn it off, unplug it, then immediately plug it back in and turn it on, do you still have to wait?
or is it only after it was unplugged for a while
i never leave it unplugged so i couldn't say
its about 50% of the time it happens tho
weird
yea idk maybe an electrical issue
like with the house wiring
is there an optimal amount of time you're supposed to press the power button? i've had experience with computers not turning on if you dont press it long enough
but then other times you hardly tap the power button for a second and it turns on
i've handled like 50 different pcs at this point and power button is always instant
@little osprey WHat are you gonna be doing with the system you wanna build
Oh well yea, those boards can definitely be fun
Some of them have server chipsets yea, c602
well actually just 1 model i knw off the top of my head anyway
I know for sure they all support xeons, but iirc some of them have issues with the consumer lga2011 chips because of their different PCI-e lane count
you should be totally good with a xeon though
sounds good lol
is there anyway i can build a ryzen 7 5800x, 3060 build for 1400?
@bitter mason @fossil cedar Thank you again for all your help. I just finished installing the last drivers and it's 99% functional
?
I highly doubt you'll be able to get a build with both of those pieces at 1400
what about 1600
Maybe
Yeah
def
Easily but there's no point
Is the point of the pc gaming?
yea gaming lol
Alr one moment
i have a ryzen 7 3700x and a 2060 super prebuilt rn
but im selling it
and i wanna replace it
i paid 1400 for it and theres no way i can sell it for that
2060 super is very slightly worse the 3060
Like
Less than 10%
Not worth upgrading
i just wanna get rid of a prebuilt tbh
And the 3700x is also a great cpu
You could keep the cpu and gpu
And prolly some other parts
Depends what it is
i have a pic of the specs
Send
Sure
i wanna get a lian li mini, then idk what cooler, and then an evga psu
and i dont have a bad 2060 super, i have the msi twin frozr 7
Nice glad it's working
lian li o11 mini or lian li o11 mini air
that's great news & you're welcome!
One sec
That case is on the expensive side, I'd do this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/f6dhgb
The psus super overkill for you but it sounds like you'd want to upgrade gpu soon
You'll be fine with a 3080 on that
should i just stick to these specs and save up and upgrade as i go
would this be good
or even the 360 one
not at all
wait
replied to wrong one
the 3700x is a fine cpu, even for a 3080
yea ik
id upgrade gpu first
ok
the psu could definitely use an upgrade
as in gpu upgrade after the case, cooler and psu
that psu will cry with a 3080
ok
not to say that you need to anytime soon, but out of cpu and gpu gpu should be the first to upgrade
is there anything better looking for the same price as the 5000 d
the p400a digital if you want to check it out
looks are subjective
i like the look of it
but its a bit expensive rn
i prefer functionality over looks personally
but to each their own
p500a 4000d airflow td500 mesh CM h500 (no suffix) all good
nice
no
if you want an aio, liquid freezer ii 280 or 360
the 240 is overpriced atm
also my ram is white and my motherboard is kinda white so i might just go white case and buy a white 3080 down the line
i can get a white 4000d airflow for 85
if you prefer the look go for it
but i believe the p400a is better
and comes with more fans
as for psu, white psus are few and far between
that would require someone elses help
i dont need a white psu tho
i only know of one white psu and its expensive
alr thats good then
if you want a white cooler, i think the lian li galahad has a white variant
but its also expensive
oh thats not bad
what psu
pcp has it much higher
depends what gpu you plan to run
if you want to wait for 40 series, id grab a bitfenix whisper m
wait 360 lian like is like 200
if you have a mc near you itll be cheaper
3080
bitfenix whisper m is a good choice then, so is the rmx 850 and d.f
also leadex III if mc happens to have any of those
but i cant go there myself 😢
link pls
im 14 lol
should i go for like evga psu
wait
no thats backwards
model over brand
different brands have different models
If any one could help me im going to purchase https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali570/p/N82E16883360205 but id like to upgrade to 1tb storage and being new to pcs i have no idea whatd be compatible with the motherboard please and thank you👍🏼
these prices arent bad
and also should i go white or black
build
i feel like id rather go with evga for 15 more
plus its already at mc
so its easier
@stoic island super nova is A tier right?
this is getting expensive lol
how much is it
75
damn
wait wrong name
bitfenix formula gold
im about to be running a 6800xt on a 650w
that psu is A tier, and will run a 3080 fine
u use an amd gpu
currently 3060 ti
i might just stick to evga but thats just me
but 6800xt is coming very soon
my evga psu died on me
the model is more important than brand
its not a giant difference
ok i have a case and psu
now time for the cooler
might as well go black on the build because the inside of the case is black
i might get the evga supernova 850 watt for 100
from mc
Which one? Ga gt etc are worse than g3 and g6
.
i could get the ga for 100
theyre deadset on evga
At least get a g6
@little osprey for next time, just know, don't go by the brand name on the PSU because most of the time, they don't even make the PSU.
In this case, GA is some random andyson platform, GT is some random HEC platform, G3 is a CWT platform, G6 is a Seasonic platform
It'll work, you could do 850w if you want extra headroom, although not too sure on how next gen power connectors will work
ok
but 750 should be good right
850 is an extra 10
might as well
will a 140 mm psu go into the 4000d airflow ?
Ye, it'll fit up to 180mm
4000d won't do 360mm top mount but you can do front mount
As long as you don't do dumb ram you can do 280mm top mount if you want
Corsair vengeance rgb is unnecessarily wide
Anything that's not unnecessary wide will work fine
Iirc should be fine
If you just want to swap out the 512gb drive with another 1tb drive, although with prebuilts, it can be a variety of different boards, all b560 boards I know have 2 or more m.2 slots usable with a 11th gen chip, therefore, you can just grab something simple like a mp33 1tb and swap it out, or add it on top for extra storage.
Ek-aio or Galahad basically
Which one would be better? I assume just adding it since it should have 2x slots also should i upgrade the fan on that ?
which one? or is there anything else thats better?
I'd probably lean towards the MSI. that deepcool also is sold by a 3rd party.
if my psu and case are from a 3rd party is that bad
@stoic island @mossy venture would this be good as a new psu, cooler, and case
or can i get a better deal
I mean, adding more storage is nice, and you could upgrade the cooler if you want.
No Galahad 240mm?
Over the MSI cooler, yea
is there any other aioi can get that is white and good
these 3 things come out to 350 plus tax
Oh I see, the "shipped from amazon/newegg" PSU is priced moderately higher. nvrmind.
its gonna be like 385 with tax 😭
Can't think of much else
Good luck
Thx lmao
You're welcome
I bought a new case and a new aio and i was wondering what was i should put it i have and option for top or bottom?
Put it on top
Oh front
Then yeah, front
Bottom mounting could cause bubbles, and could wear the aio down more
what conficuration push or pul
Should be pull
ok
If you do push, you'll just mess airflow up
ok should i put the tubes up or down
Up
what is good 3200cl16 ram that can do a capable overclock
as cheap as possible
or does $55 silicon power ram oc fine
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/h2RWbK made a meme list
don't expect anything binned for 3200c16 to oc well
ballistix was the exception but it's discontinued now
im not sure if oloy still uses samsung chips or not
if it's binned for 3200c16 best case scenario for the kit will probably be like 3800c18
speaking from experience buying a bunch of cheap crap kits to oc for fun
keeping 3200 and tightening tcl to c15-14 may be possible depending on die
no i put them in flips
damn
Not bad for 60
the only thing bad is the power buttons and stuff are on the side
@fossil cedar or anyone bc he is sleepin, is https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08MV7FBPS?th=1 acceptable? asus tuf 650w psu for $60....
yes
it's like b or c tier
afaik
What's the price?
$89
+$6 shipping maybe
it's not that good for such an old platform
people are selling them for over $100 in my area
if you can get like a 9600k or something for cheap it's gonna be golden
might do that or meshify c
Nah i decided im not gonna spend that much
Lol
maybe if my boss gives me a bonus ill consider
tempting
Ideally i'd have something like this
if i'm tight on money maybe ill go for the 9th gen route
10gen*. 10400F is $130
Yes, so i figured i’d just spring for 12th gen
i can barely run games rn so i figured i’d upgrade
Nice
If no mind rebate rmx is 5$ more
Would this Pc be good at 1440p Gaming, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kyDWbK
I'd definitely change some things, whats your budget?
1800-2000 usd
You want/need wifi?
no
@junior crescent https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4vwsk9
U sure 650 w is fine?
I mean its fine
But 750w bettr
Tis, especially if they get it for 65$ after the rebate
Could go 850w to future proof tho if going 750w instead imo
hi lads...
little issue a1 b1 wouldnt boot with xmp enabled.
i put the sticks into a2 b2 . it works with xmp . is this a motherboard issue
or is it common
That's perfectly normal, the sticks are supposed to be in a2 and b2, they are the main links, the other two are daisy chained from them
the manual should say use a2 b2 as well
I miss mobos that had the main slots be a1+b1, just an ocd thing. Although, I've had 4dimms in my last 3 pcs
a2 b2 better for cooler clearance
Lmao
Ill report u to sippy for mod aboos hes hot
Wdym you where abusing mod smh
ur mod assist
L + Ratio + Maidenless + Touch Grace + No Runes + Solaire Better + Beat Margit the Fell Omen + No Seat at the Round Table + No Steed

i love this macro
Doesn't help on many setups

So I reset to all Original settings now my not working it says this in safe mode no network
Please help
Idk, all i can suggest is that you reinstall windows. but I would definitely give a look at the pinned messages in #windows-ios or just ask there since its a windows related question anyways
Sorry im not much of a windows nerd myself
@little osprey thanks i don’t know how to do that lol
do what?
Reinstall windows
Win 11 or 10?
this guide should work for both
just backup your files
Well I tired to reset my computer due to it acting funny now it shows that and won’t load my profile
So I might need to buy windows
s
s
I might need to purchase windows os because I can’t even get into the computer
But it’s so expensive to buy
You shouldn’t need to bro
You can use windows for free it’s just unlicensed and shows a box that says unlicensed product on your screen
so im not sure where to ask this, but all of a sudden ( as of today) my screen looks super zoomed in (i do not have a graphics card atm). what can be causeing this?
also not in magnifier mode
No display driver
Gotta get driver for igpu
ugh this pc has been soo annoying XD worked perfect since i built it till today Xd
is this what im looking for ?
https://gyazo.com/805a0320d866820a61c7b2ff8c91ad11
the none xt right
uh
Nah that's not the igpu
Get one for Vega
Or something relating to ryzen 5000 series
@earnest olive so I have a GPU oriented question this time
Which has greater performance per dollar? The 6700 XT or the 6600 XT
depends on price :v
At MSRP?
The 6700 XT is roughly 17-37% better (dependent on resolution) and has a msrp that is 32% higher than the 6600 XT
their respective MSRPs
Yes
Let’s say 1440P as a resolution
Although the differences should scale similarly
1440p has the 6700 XT at about 27% better
Because more VRAM
4k has it at the 37% better range
figureed it out thank you alot!
27%? Isn’t that kind of a stretch?
No? Why would it be?
Comparing AMD RX 6700 XT with AMD RX 6600 XT: technical specs, games and benchmarks.
@potent portal @obsidian wigeon so given that $480 is 26-27% higher than $380
Are both cards about the same in value?
If you're doing 1440p or higher roughly the same in value, mostly depending on what games you play. If you're doing 1080p 6600 XT is better value.
I built my pc the other day, and today I just added the last piece- the RTX 3060. I also have some ram coming to upgrade my 16gb to 32 😉 that's fun. Anyway, any idea what I should do with the other i5 6400 gtx 1050 machine? I thought about making it a server of some kind
You could do the server idea, like hosting a game server (minecraft, ark, etc) or a file server for sure
I use an old computer for a media server hooked up to my tv so i can watch videos i have saved to the hard drive on it
I use this thing called “Emby”
i’m pretty sure it’s free because i don’t remember paying for it
you can just host media on any computer on a network then grab a phone or different computer and play directly from that media server even if you’re not at home
If you don't need a server, you could always give it/sell it to a family member or relative who needs a super entry level PC, or just sell it online
that too
I do the same with Plex, also free
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kczJbK
Hi everyone, I finally am going to sell my old laptop which will give me enough money for a new pc.
Any thoughts on this build? I'm using it for CPU intensive games and for editing. I am planning on upgrading the graphics card later on when the prices drop and getting another memory of the same stick as well when prices drop.
Mind you that I am limited by what parts I can choose because I am buying it from a retailer in my country
what retailer and what country
You should yes
Also never get 1 stick of ram 🤮
yeah, thought it might be bad
here is the website with the build already inside
I am also going to need 32gb of ram eventually, forgot to mention
And what's your budget in shekal?
Cool 1 sec
thank you
https://tms.co.il/builds/299327 @orchid ruin
There you go
You should be able to see the build properly if not gimma a ping
whoa
thats cheap
thank you very much
may I ask, why not ddr5 with the budget that I have?
to future proof it, ig
@fossil cedar
Not worth it yet, more expensive, atm I'd only go ddr5 for a 12900k 3080+ pc
No point upgrading motherboard unless you're upgrading cpu as well
Hmm
I will upgrade later to something more then 3080, when the prices will drop, is it worth it to buy now ddr5 or just upgrade in the future?
Ddr5 won't make that much of a difference if that's why you where wondering
Nah just stick with ddr4 now, could get better drr4 i was trying to keep budgeter
And if wanting to go 3080 or more then I'd get a better power supply
Also idk why but it wouldn't let me put a case in the list so I'd go lancool 215 for the case
okay, thank you very very much
if I end up getting that (which I prob will) I will be sure to send photos :)
No problem
Id do this probably @orchid ruin
https://tms.co.il/builds/299334
Looked at faster ram - wasn't worth it for the prices
Changed to a 2tb
ohhh ight
Could do 1tb if you wanted but seemed like you're a 2tb person you know
what kinda person am I
Physically as much as you can afford somehow
Reason: Duplicated text
yes
whats your budget and use case?
$1200cad/$950us yes need a case
Hello so on windows reinstall it never gave me a option to choose architecture will this matter
no
Okay was unsure because I need the usb for a different pc
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/cvGyk9 id do this for 25$ more
thank you! that looks awesome
youre welcome
What a good guy
i need pc help
!ask
dont ask to ask just ask
i have windows 11 and it keeps making the sound like im plugging something in when it start making that noise it makes whatever game im playing drop in fps and ive recently got a BSOD
whats your specs
hmmm
motherboard: z390 phantom gaming sli/ac
I would try run this, see if it pics up any erros
how?
windows is blocking it
more info
I'd try download and run whocrashed then
Update bios too
And you're not running an unstable oc are you?
how
oc?
Overclock
They have a program to update from running windows so no need to even mess with bios
https://download.asrock.com/BIOS/1151/Z390 Phantom Gaming SLIac(4.30)WIN.zip
dont think so
do i just download it then done?
none of it worked still beeping
You extracted all the files and ran the program right?
yes
Guess it wasn't the bios then
Next thing to try is unplugging all your USB devices except keyboard and mouse
If you still have the issue then one of those is probably damaged
If not then it's one of your other devices or ports
but its also affecting my GPU
is buying from 3rd party ok
i wanna get these 3 things but idk if buying from 3rd party is good
do not trust unless good seller ratings
Good cases don't often go much below $100, that's life. Air Mini at $120ish legit is decent. Personally only "3rd party" I'd by from is someone on Ebay or such. Although, stuff "shipped by newegg/amazon" is 1 step better than sent from the seller
yea, cant find any good deals on ebay either
its annoying, i need 3 parts but i dont wanna spend close to $400
or even more in some cases
Facts
Do know this, don’t fall for the 4000D hype
It is NOT good case
The airflow version is mediocre
And the non airflow version is just obsolete
All GN tests completely disprove you saying it isn’t a good case, it may not be the best case but it is pretty damn good
Imo the 4000D is super overhyped. Lazis, the Air Mini is great too. Personally want bottom intake fans so there's few cases I like these days.
4000D is good, mainly airflow version
Saying that it's not a good case is.. biased isn't it?
But it's overhyped in my opinion too
it's objectively a good case, but it's only really worth buying when it's on sale for $75
you should probably flip 3 to be intakes if you add a graphics card
otherwise all your intake goes into your graphics card and your cpu can only reuse hot exhaust
positive pressure >
you keep telling yourself that
Where did you get the info that it's bad from?
It's objectively good, just probably not good for your view
in my interpretation, to call something "good" is similar to saying that its better, albeit slightly, than what is considered average
Hm, fair
yes

What’s a good power supply for a mobo that’s a 8pin
seasonic, super flower, corsair, antec, and evga ones of bronze or higher
well maybe bronze is too light
maybe we should use gold as a minimum
no?
going by brand or efficiency rating is not great
this is a great starting place for finding a good psu
even evga has meh gold units that is very sensitive
yeah
efficiency ratings are also not always accurate
Aresgame psus are a great example of not being accurate 80+ ratings
evga maybe
all of the seasonic gold power supplies that have come out have been good
same with all of corsairs
and all of super flowers
I’m going to be putting in a mobo b450 ds3h v2
i know going by brand is risky
With a 1070 gpu
this is the way to get horrible value
and i know about the psu tier list
every one does
but he wanted a simple quick simple answer
not a list to sort through
seasonic? bad value? are you serious?
even the GA?
the GA has issues with high transient draw cards, yet is a evga 80+ gold
current gen cards have high transient draw
I honestly threw evga on the end there just because their power supplies are dirt cheap
usually not the best by any means
i just look for a specific psu for best value at that moment
I’m so lost now 😞 just looking for a psu that’s good and not to pricy
a general recc is well, just general
lemme see whats available
Around 700/750
how much are you looking to spend
budget comes first
if you arent gonna upgrade the gpu a ton, this is a great option if okay with a MIR
did you not see him say 700/750??
sometimes people dont really know what they need
just threw that out there with the phrase "if you arent gonna upgrade the gpu a ton, this is a great option"
some people thinks gpu tgp = peak consumption too
if hes sticking with that 1070, that cx550f will no issues whatsoever running it
ye
im gonna guess hes trying to future proof
Idk if I’ll do much gpu upgrades
Yes future proof it is
future proofing is a hard deal atm
new psu standards are coming out
ATX 3.0 mainly
so who knows how long before that really becomes neccessary
thats atx 3.0
oh atx 3.0
the connector is just called atx 3.0
alright
man thats gonna suck
Well I’m just for what’s current Lu not like what’s coming next year
yeah
I've only had my AX1600I for a coupe months
I guess I'll sell it when the new variant comes out
so yeah i can't really know how far current gen psus will go, but if you arent looking to upgrade to a higher power draw gpu soon, the cx550x would be my opinion
oh yeah ofc
cause psus are gonna change soon
Yeah well anything better then my hp oem psu
hp oem psu is okay, just tends to be low in wattage
Yeah it’s a 500 but only has a 4pin and I need a 8 pin for my new mobo b450 ds3h v2
you can use adapter cables
well you have to buy one
but easiest way i guess is to get whole new psu
with not too high wattage to save money for now
that 550w one is a good recc
Hello anyone here?
Yeah what's up
Ye wassup bro
I’m not here
Dose anyone know if this power supply have a 8pin for mobo
Can you look at the cables
and look if one of them has a connector with 8 pins on it
then you will know if there is an 8 pin connector
Specifically one that has 4+4 and not 6+2
Yeah I only see 4pin then the 6+2 Just making sure I wasn’t overlooking it
New power supply it is I guess
You can run using just the 4 pin you know
If you use a processor that requires more power then the mobo will just power limit it
But if you're using a 65W processor you won't come near that limit
Yeah 4 is plenty for that, even if you upgraded to 5600X
8 is for 105W processors, then there's 8+4 for extreme overclocking
Oh nice 500w 80 sires psu is Plenty with a 1070 GPu
If I have an ibuypower prebuilt rn and it has no problems would it be worth it to upgrade its weaknesses like the case, psu, and cooler now or should I wait until something happens and it’s a necessity to upgrade
Depends on your available money and your specific needs
I have a good amount of money available and my needs are playing games and work, rn I have a 2060 super and Ryzen 7 3700x
The games aren’t too intensive but some are
And I play VR
Most of the time the biggest weaknesses for a prebuilt are the PSU and memory. What model PSU did you get and what memory?
It’s a 600 watt 80 plus gold
And 16gb of ram at 3200
Which model exactly? There's a few gold rated power supplies that straight up explode
And did you at least get 2 sticks of ram? Or did they shaft you with 1?
2
Ok not too bad then
But Ryzen likes 3600 because it allows faster infinity fabric. You might be able to overclock though.
Here are my specs
Prime95 is the cooling test of choice, max heat load. A more realistic test would be along the lines of OCCT Linpack
Do you have a link
Ocbase is the home of OCCT, the most popular all-in-one stability / stress testing / benchmarking / monitoring tool available for PC
running it rn
how long do i run it for
You can typically find the max temps after about 15-20 minutes
ohh
i stopped it lol
im gonna restart it and run it for 15 min
and take a screenshot of the results
If you have hwinfo that'll have more useful data
That's pretty close to the throttle point at 87C, maybe a better cooler would be in order. 120mm AIO is a meme, there's literally air coolers that completely crush them.
yea
i was also thinking a new case
idk abt psu, you tell me
i wanna get a lian li 011 mini ( i love it too much to not get it) and a msi mag 240mm cooler
PSU is probably ok, even if it's a C tier unit, since your parts don't use all that much power
That would be a decent upgrade, but I'd suggest the arctic liquid freezer 2
It's better and quieter
what abt ek or lian li
The standard EK-AIO or the Galahad would be good options too, very strong performers
should i get a lian li o11 mini or air
regular looks better
but air will be better
Technically yes but I doubt it'll matter unless you plan to upgrade the GPU later to a 3080 or something
i would like to
Then yes the air is strongly advised
might go to mc rn
let me see the other coolers they have tho
for $30 more i can get a 360
oh boy, i had fun with a really similar cyberpower prebuilt
3700x, 120mm aio, 3000c16 ram
what did u do
the 120mm aio was actually not bad
mine is
i oced the 3000c16 ram to 3733c18
cleaned the cat hair from the previous owner out of the aio
my pc gets rly hot
im not planning to do that tho
3700x is pretty easy to cool
i wanna keep it and just build it up
the cyberpower 120mm aio was holding like 81C in prime95
maybe you should try repasting it
perhaps factory paste job wasn't good
also clean out your pc if you haven't already
dust and dirt buildup can have a large impact on temps
did you take the fan off of the radiator and clean between?
yep
let me show you what that aio looked like when i got it
lmao
and i'd like to add, 81C in prime95 was before any cleaning
i tested prime95 in starbucks while i was buying it
is your 3700x at default settings right now?
yep
you can definitely try undervolting rather than spending money on a new cooler
id rather have a new cooler that keeps my cpu nice and cool without sacrificing performance
i should add that this cyberpower had the 120mm aio in push/pull configuration (1 fan on each side of the radiator), not sure if ibuypower does that
undervolting increases performance on ryzen actually
you should undervolt ryzen cpus regardless of cooler
i had an undervolt running on a 3600x with a 360mm aio
and now my 5800x is undervolted too
im still prolly gonna buy the cooler, id rather just have that plus undervolting
i mean if you just wanna buy new stuff feel free, i'm just recommending some things if you want to save some money
this one is so loud and obnoxious
i want to but sometimes its just better to buy something new
i was really surprised how well the cyberpower held up
when i first saw the picture on the listing i thought i would have to recase it
mine needs a recase
I was like "where is the air intake?"
the only way air gets in is through two thin gaps at the front
turns out the answer is
air intakes are hidden on the top and bottom of the front panel lol
i have the same thing
just ibuypower
definitely not the best case ever but better than i was expecting
mine is bad and attracts so much dust
ended up selling it in the original case after a good clean
for no reason
do you run an air purifier in your room?
no
one of the best purchases i've made
i own a cat
went from cleaning pc every 2 days to every 2 months
i figured if dust gets into my pc then it's also getting into my lungs
wonder how your temps would be if you made your aio push/pull as well
3700x can generally be overclocked to the limit on the stock cooler no problems
Hey on the mobo do all the screw holes need a screw
Depends on the case
Should be fine without, just be careful when pulling on the 24 pin connector
Should I just swap out my case and run the cooler for a little more @potent portal @earnest olive
you can definitely try it
If you want to save some money for now sure, a better case would help a bit. Maybe you'll get some more boosting out of the CPU before it throttles.
if you're going to buy the o11 air mini
maybe you can try running the aio in push/pull with the included rear exhaust fan
Yes
that plus better case airflow should help temps already
it's a 3700x, it shouldn't be throttling with a 120mm push/pull in a decent case
Fair enough
@little osprey also check your bios and see what your pump speed is
if your pump speed is using a curve that doesn't let it hit 100% under load, then you could get some gains there
doesn't hurt to just do case first
see if they have any radiator fan screws at microcenter, you'll need them if you want to try push/pull
Ok
these long bois
Sheeeesh
https://www.microcenter.com/product/607464/micro-connectors-radiator-screws-6-32-30-5mm-40 these screws should do the job
if your microcenter doesn't have them, you can buy them online
btw, AIOs have a limited lifespan (the pump), so if your current one ends up being sufficient, i wouldn't buy a new one for "futureproofing", better buy a new one when you buy a new cpu
@terse tiger what vertical Gpu mount did u use
Phanteks
Wow so I think my new ABS just totally fried itself.
I was upstairs, came back down to a breaker tripped... We have a storm and tornado warnings going on so idk.
And my PC won't come back on and made a really bad noise when I hit the power button
Sounds like the PSU might have shorted possibly
I guess idk. It's totally freaking dead.
I don't even know what the hell happened I was gone for 10 minutes fixing dinner and had been watching Halo on Amazon website like wth ..
The rest of the house never lost power something tripped just the one breaker
Might want to blame PSU and see if PSU replacement can do something for you
Bro I was literally plugged into a UPS!!!
bro
Freaking 2,000$ setup didn't last 3 months
actually a big oof
