mainly the cpus and ram are for work uses
i did add a 3070 for gaming
but wow does it NOT perform as good as a threadripper
im trying to get a 3090 from the shuffle for my build though
what is the best pc for 900 dollar
š
Would this be good for gaming and some light VR games? https://www.bestbuy.com/site/xfx-speedster-qick210-amd-radeon-rx-6500-xt-4gb-gddr6-pci-express-4-0-gaming-graphics-card-black/6495087.p?skuId=6495087
I really hope you're joking
dont buy a 6500xt
its worse than a 5500xt
and 4gb is a big limit for VR
Ok. Idk I thought it was ok for my friend but I guess it's garbage
if you want to keep it around 300$ look for a 980 ti used
what psu do they have
Don't. They gonna build one
whats the overall budget?

Prob around 800-1000 when he gets money saved up
i mean probably just not informed
alr just a sec
not everyone keeps up with hardware news
is the point of the pc gaming?
You're not going to be able to do a VR build under $1000 right now unless you get VERY lucky and cut a lot of corners
quite reasonable for someone casual to see a new generation graphics card in stock and wonder if it's good
eh, 10400 build with a 1080 is doable
or 2060
If 1k you can easily put 450-500 towards gpu and get a 1080/1080 ti/6600xt/3060/3060 ti/3070/6700xt
2060 on VR
I'd get sick from the low fps
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HFVWYg this with cheaper ram, build courtesty of pato
65 for that ram needs swap
Ok. He's not gonna have the money for a while so maybe next gen will be out by then and he can buy this gen for cheaper
remember when $1000 was a high-midrange budget and not entry level
That was what, 3 years ago? Lol
yeah
2 even
i got into pc building 2 years ago and fit a 1080ti in a $1000 budget
Wow
this is the cheapest 3200c16 kit on pcp rn https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mcH8TW/gskill-aegis-16-gb-2-x-8-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-f4-3200c16d-16gis
i mean you can still fit a 1080ti in a $1000 budget today but 1080ti is no longer "high-midrange"
just midrange now
I only got a 3060 for 1000
but if youre not building for a while, we can check again then
Ik just wondering how the hell it got up to 65 :/
id say its still midrange
Man people that got a 2080ti for $400 when 30 series dropped... So lucky
i just said it's midrange lol
Wow
still better than a 3060 in raster
maybe i misunderstood, i took it as its no longer high or mid range
Crap my phone's at 2%
by high-midrange i mean the higher end of midrange
ahhh
Yep. 3070 promised to compete with 2080ti at msrp of $600 so people panic sold.
3070 msrp is actually 500
high-midrange i'd say is 2080s/3060ti/3070/3070ti/6700xt/6800 right now
MSRP is 500
Yeah
Yeah I meant AIB msrp
Should have been more clear mb
current midrange would be 1080ti/titan x pascal/2070/2070S/2080/3060/5700xt/6600xt
I should have waited in line for a 3060 ti at bb when it came out. Maybe I could have got one
I was going to wait in line for a 3070 ti and I really should have bc my 3060 was 600(but my mom payed for half) so it would have been the same price lol
in a way that punishes normal consumers more than scalpers
lol
have to buy their $200/year membership for the chance to buy a card
Whaa
you can buy multiple per membership
They did a non-members drop yesterday
That's just made for scalpers
twitter is full of scalpers/miners showing off how many more cards they're getting now
and in the latest AMD drop a single person showed that they got 79 6700xt and 14 6900xt
hahaha
laugh so the tears don't come
Wow

The tears still came
problem is that companies have no short term incentive to do anything about scalpers
and shareholders only care about short term profits
Easy way to limit
1 per address and no PO boxes
Scalpers will run out of addresses eventually
Nah that would make it undeliverable as addressed and returned to sender
You have to get permits and approval from the post office for stuff like that
Yeah and you would probably have to go through the government to change the road anyway
Yeah
problem is that implementing a new system costs money and they don't get any short term rewards from it
they'll get long term rewards from less people leaving the PC gaming market and positive mindshare
Exactly. They've chosen money instead and don't care who it comes from.
but shareholders don't care
Bruh I remember in 2020 I was thinking about buying a 3070 for 1500 dollars lmaoo
shareholders just want to pump and dump
They did a non scam membership drop too appearantly yesterday also scan >>>> BB cough
Wtf
If twisting doesn't work, using the CPU and heating it up can help
AMD cpu?
Yes
put cooler upside down on table so pins are facing up
grab corners of cpu carefully to not crush pins
and twist it off
if it won't come off get some dental floss and try to cut the paste with it
Still nothing
I tried hair dryer
did you use the AMD stock paste? lol
they shouldn't call that stuff thermal paste, more like thermal super glue
so glad AMD is finally moving off of PGA for next socket
Maybe smth like a razor blade could help if no floss
yeah that could work as well
try a combination, you'll prob need to get someone to help you hold
Can I install it stuck
hair dryer + floss/blade
uhhh probably
if you know the cooler is aligned perfectly
but if you're just going to reinstall it stuck that defeats the purpose of why you probably removed it to begin with
to repaste or change cooler?
depends on silicon lottery
3080
if you're not going to manually tune get a 3600c16 kit and call it a day
i manually xmp it to 3600 for example
that's... not what manually tuning means
if you're going to use xmp, stick to 3600
most people don't bother manually tuning ram, it's not for the faint of heart
just grab these
or this if you want rgb
any cases other than p400a digital recommended?
someone has an asus pre built and is 14, so they want to get a cheaper one and add p12s
which asus prebuilt?
one sec
if it's the TUF case and he's on a budget just don't recase it
the TUF case isn't the worst
it has a 5800x and it doesnt have room for a bigger heatsink or aio
ah yeah that case is pretty bad
My PC is receiving power the LEDS are lighting up and fans are spinning but itās not sending any video out and not sending anything out to my keyboard and mouse either any ideas on what might be the cause
is he seeing overheating though?
Where doe th gold pin on and cpu go on moba
yikes
this is a good case for budget airflow
the fans are white, not sure why they look blue in pictures
but I've personally built in one and they're white
biggest con is no lighting control for the fans, can't turn them off
but the price/performance is really good
don't need to add fans
the included fans are even PWM
does your pc have post codes/debug leds
do you mean the triangle?
Not to my knowledge
what motherboard do you have?
is it a new build or worked previously and now stopped?
np
i can provide another option if he would prefer not white LED fans
the LEDs are powered by the fan PWM so there really is no way to turn them off unless you physically remove them
i dmed them, ill see what they say
š
The golden triangle at bottom of cpu
align it with the triangle on the socket
g
You've had quite a few issues haven't you? Must be unlucky or something.
What cpu and motherboard did you end up with?
Ryzen 5 2600
Arorus b450 pro wifi
I tried repluging everything in and cleared cmos
Unplug the 24 pin cable from the motherboard, flip the power switch to the psu off, and then put a paperclip into these 2 pins. Flip the power switch on. Does the power supply stay running or shut off quickly?
Shut of quickly
Power supply is bad
I have a Thermaltake 500+ gold
Ok
Bad units happen even in top tier 1500W platinum ones
What is the dark blue circle on image
Just a reference, so you can see the pins you need relative to the blank pin
Is it normal to have a blank pin
Yes, ATX spec lists it as reserved/not used
I cant post in #build-pics yet? š¦
Not until your name turns green
Chat with us a bit, it doesn't take long. You can check your progress to level 3 in #ranks-and-levels with the !rank command.
That's a neat trick, I'll remember that
That's really cool
throwing out an idea - i don't see the mobo mention that newer bios drops older cpu support, but it could be something to try (flashing an older bios) if other things don't work out
i believe some b450s lose support for older cpus in later updates
you're forgetting about something @jovial radish
@jovial radish https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qrdVnt x79 baby
slightly better multi-core than 10100f, and overclockable
pretty sure there's a custom bios for the x79 turbo to allow OCing
Tbf second hand things mean you can probably also get a better second hand drive
yea i didnt look for one though
chatting with yall sounds fun š at least i like talking hardware
Get bitfenix formula 650w for 5$ more
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/T.Q.Quinnitin/saved/ypm8Q7 Hereās my pc build, Iām kinda embarrassed to send it here
I got all of this like
Lil over half the price
So $1.3k

And I already have all my parts except the case because Amazon is being horrible
I had got the gpu and psu in a bundle so I canāt return the psu unless I want to return my gpu
Iām pretty satisfied and proud that I got the stuff
I know the ram could be better
other than the aio being overkill for an 11600k, overall its a good build
having better cooling than needed isnt exactly an issue
did you get the ssd on sale?
Yea, someone recommended me upgrading my aio, Iāll just upgrade my cpu down the line :D!
nice
cpu not many upgrade paths without switching boards, but lf2 has an adapter for 12th gen
Ooohh :ooo alright
did you build the pc before 12th gen was out?
I still havenāt built it yet since my case hasnāt arrived :(( but I picked out some of the parts before I knew 12th gen was a thing
I was going to get Ryzen amd at first
Not Intel
did you already buy the cpu and mobo?
Yep
I have all my parts right now in a box
I got the mobo on discount too I think
Iāll see if I can still return the cpu
Wait I just realized itāll be so much trouble trying to get another mobo too⦠Iāll just take this all as a learning experience and in the future Iāll be better prepared
Thanks!
11th gen is still good
Ayee
its good, but 12400f=11600k for 195$
11th gen intel didnt get worse overnight but you can get a lot better perf for the same price if you go 12th gen
Its too late for tanime so i was just trying to reassure them its ok lol
Thanks dudo
Ima just upgrade to the next gen or two in the future probably yea
B560 11600k? And why power supply sfx lol
I got it with my gpu
If I return it I have to return my gpu
Oof
Have you built it yet?
Itās my first pc build so Iām not really upset with it
Nah :< Amazon hasnāt shipped my case
It was suppose to be here last Wednesday
So I had to cancel the order and place it againā¦
Still hasnāt shipped out again
Might just get different case⦠I really wanted the p400a since it was good for the price
The weekend coming up is the only weekend I can build it before March
so Iām hoping Amazon will ship it, itās not even third party itās just amazon
Ahh rip
I'd suggest you return the cpu motherboard and go 12th gen and mb grab some better ram btw
Ahh
Iāll just upgrade in the future Iām not gonna return anything since rn itād be a hassle and I donāt really have transportation to do the returns right now :< plus Iāll just take this as a learning experience
I got most of the stuff on discount
Hey, can I chat with someone about my build? Its in the building stage but I need some advice!
What do you need?
@stoic island I wish I could send a pic of my build, but I just hope the parts are grooving in my best interest, and if there is enough fans in it. Also not a big deal but I forgot RGB im pretty sure so... sad day.
RGB isn't necessary, and you don't need to fill every fan slot with fans, just 2 intake is enough
i got the noctua NH-D9L with NF-A9 92mm fan
On what CPU?
i5 12600
It should be okay, won't be overclocking or boosting too much, but it should run fine
Okay. If I wanted to add a couple later tho that wouldn't be a problem?
To the case, it wouldn't be a problem
Awesome. Thanks king @stoic island
You're welcome
Hello šš¼ was wondering if someone with superior knowledge could give me advice on which parts are most important and which ones arent. Trying to build a pc that could run all sorts of games from shooter to horror, that also has what it needs to record gameplay and make videos. Any help would be appreciated.
nice, but is there a way to know which processor that board has specifically?
oh wait never mind
I see the cpu in the build
Uhh basically all the parts are important you can spend less on some parts though, what country are you in and what's your budget and i can recommend something for you if you like?
im looking for a pc under $500 for roblox, minecraft, and fortnite, if anyone knows a link to one that is good for that if you could DM me it it would be much appreciated (also youtube, twitch, and maybe VR stuff)
Honestly your best gaming experience for 500$ is a console
And there's no way a 500$ pc will do vr good if it even runs
what about for only MC and Roblox Studio, is there any for under $500?
well, bye, imma leave the server
Alrighty
It'd work okay, 10105 and 570 would give a decent 1080p experience
Yeah I have the 570 from an "old"(4-5yo machine)
id do this for 20$ more https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sPvJxs or https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q9nD3y for way less
@young sierra what is that sag bracket lol
Custom
Yeah but what is it lol?
1/2" PVC cut with a Joe Biden pointing MEME sticker "I Did That!" that I pulled off of a gas pump and added to my build.

can i just ask tech support help in this channel?
What do guys think about this build? https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/xYV8Tn
damn thats alot of money
seems like a great build if u can find that gpu
also just get 1 64gb 4 stick packs not 2 32gb 2 stick packs
I'm getting 4 just to fill all the slots and I can't find the 3600 version of the 16gb pack or I would have went with that
It's cad and yeah the gpu came in stock on amazon but for 2k. Another store said they should have it in stock by June for 1200
oh makes alot of sense
can someone help me i try to boot up my pc for the first time and i can't get an output. the fans all spin up but my keyboard doesnt turn on so i dont know how to get into bios
Do you have debug LEDs?
theres no leds lit up on my mobo rn except a strip down the side
Check your memory, make sure it's clicked in all the way on both sides
If that doesn't help reseating the gpu, then the cpu are the next things
ok
i tried reseating everything and still nothing
clear cmos time
how do you do that
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
battery method is neat
ok
yea still nothing
check eps12v
which one is that again?
So I turn on my pc and the motherboard lights up then turns off imminently
top left of mobo
?
first boot?
No boot
I mean first time turning it on or was it working beforehand
It turns of for a split second
it says eatx12v is that the same one?
ye
ok
Check if its fully plugged in
They mentioned this yesterday
Are you 100% sure it's dead
If paperclip test had it just shut off, I'd blame the PSU
Shouldn't the motherboard not light up then
?
It could very well be, if it's tripping itself up
All I did was upgrade the motherboard
Then I tried plugging in the old motherboard and it doesn't work
ok i replugged it in and its all the way in but still no output
Its just 50% certainty for blaming the PSU, but about 0% for everything else
Its the one symptom we have atm
Uhhh should I get a nzxt z53 or a lian li galahad
Hmmm ok after that should I build my pc without the gpu
I have a 5600x
As a cpu
Idkk
well 5600g is the one w/ an igpu, soooo technically you'd need a gpu
Oh that's good. I was worried you're like someone who mentioned building a pc then asking about a vga led on the mobo but no monitor hooked up anyways. MC might have some decent gpus for ya.
Hopefully last time u went they only have amd but the lower ones
Yeah, 6600 XT for instance actually seems like a fine pick, price dependent of course. Most of the huge overpricing these days is w/ mainly Nvidia stuff, unless doing shuffle or best buy drops or w/e.
Ye
Avoid the 6500XT
and 3050
bs prices excluded, 3060 ti is 1 of if not the best value imo.
3080 at msrp is best, 3060ti close second
Imo 3060 ti best value at msrp, gaming perf only ~10% less than a 3070 for 100 less and mines just like a 3070 too
Excuse me, I had a question about electrical safety relating to a current build I'm working on
I'm building a pc right now but I'm currently in the process of moving; That is to say I'm staying at a relative's temporarily while the move is being done
Problem is, I'll be here for another few months after my pc is complete, and the only area I can set up in has 2 prong outlets
Would it be safe to use these with my psu if I used a grounded 2-3 prong adapter?
Safety for both the house's electrical system and my own pc, I mean
Is this different region? I would check the voltage of the outlet and if your PCs psu has a voltage selector or supports both
2 and 3 prong is also pretty vague, there are many different types of 2 and 3 prong outlets
i dont think theres any grounded 2 pin outlet out there
No idea tbh, i only know of some countries in europe and Australia i think? That use 2 prong
because one prong has to be live and the other neutral for a circuit to complete
so you will have to have another prong to ground
I mean, with absolutely nothing ever going wrong, you'd theoretically have no issue with no ground
I'd opt for trying to get a 3 prong outlet with ground after seeing if you would be able to ground to the box. If not, the best option would be to install a GFCI 3 prong
That way you'd still have a "ground" of sorts, but it's not quite as good as an actual 3 prong outlet with ground
people say that the 3000G is the best budget cpu you can get
that's not that true
you have the intel core i3 10100
which are WAY more powerful
have more cores and threads
and is $10 cheaper
Correct, but 3000g is the best budget cpu igpu combo together
you could get that 12th gen i5 for $200
6 cores 12 threads
You have to account for motherboard cost too
3000g would be quite happy on a $80 B450 board, while it's hard to find a B660 for under $140
hi im trying to q-flash my mother borad for the part 3 hours and everytime i try its just doesn't work and the light stops flashing ater 1 mintue meaning it didnt work
can anyone hel[p
What motherboard are you using?
gigabyte b550 ds3h AC
usb drive is mbr fat 32?
Make sure its in the port marked H
And make sure the file is not in any folders or have a password on the usb
they only say you have to have it formatted to fat 32
nothing about mbr
ya idk if it is mbr it only sayus fat32 how do i check tht
diskmgmt
Sorry for being late, thank you all for the suggestions relating to the outlets
I wanted to use an adapter that connects to the screw of the outlet and uses it as a ground, as replacing any if the outlets is not really an option as I'm only a guest here
yes i just checked it is mbr
A false ground like that would technically work but it can be risky.
If it was something less expensive like a coffee maker, sure. Personally I wouldn't want to risk my computer.
Damn, alright
I'm here for another 6 months yet, I hate the idea of that pc sitting finished and unused for that much time
Yeah there's no way I'd leave my computer plugged in like that for that long.
Maybe since you'll be there a while you could offer to get someone to upgrade the outlets at your expense? Or at least split the cost
I was considering that, but I dont think our host is too thrilled about the prospect of us being here, let alone making modifications to their home
I'll see what can be done though, thank you for the help
It's either that or an extension cord to a grounded outlet
These?
They're fine. Just don't have too many high power devices plugged in.
The surge protector I have in my kitchen keeps tripping when I use my microwave, electric kettle, and the toaster at the same time making breakfast lol
Alright cool. I had an issue a while back with my router as a result of a power stick, wasnt sure if I'd run into a similar problem
If it wasnt clear, I'm anything but an electrician lol. Still learning
As long as it's a known brand and not el cheapo or something, it's fine usually
APC makes great products in general. They have a bar that's $10-12 and has a surge protector
Awesome, thank you. I'll give that a look
This is my first build so... I'm not entirely sure how many plugs I'll have in need of power
The psu of course, and I'd guess the monitor as well
Very nice, thank you. I'll have to pick one of those up

does nayone know of a 5000 series ready motherboards that I can use right out of the box for my 5600x cpu? help would be much appreciated š
My Asrock B550i phantom gaming itx worked out of box
Only ones that say 5000 ready on the actual box are guaranteed, no models are as they could have been sitting on shelves for ages
Since it was manufactured <2 weeks before I bought it
The box said 3000 series on it still thou
Yes but re read what i said
Only ones that have that say it are garunteed
Ah
Asrock b550i keep going out of stock on Amazon/newegg so they are probably recently manufactured
How large of a flash drive will I need for installing windows with the ISO file?
Windows 10 pro, that is
8gb
Nice, thanks
@strange epoch you can get a 3060 ti off ebay for cheaper
thats a really bad price
even with the monitor
619$ lol what?
it shows 1100 in the ss?
The monitor is 500$ lol
a 360hz thats super overkill
its super overkill unless you play super competitively
Bro I know what I'm doing it was a combo on newegg shuffle I won it I'm gonna sell it
i mean you can sell it
oh
alr then
hopefully you can get around 450 for it
gl
Good, because $500 for 1080p is whack, idc if it was 9000hz.
Yes you probably could get a 1440p 240hz for cheaper
Indeed. Obviously I've never tried 1440p, 240hz or even 144hz. Sure higher hertz lowers input lag or something, but can't take full advantage unless fps is similar afaik. I finally made my own decent $200ish display upgrade, and shipping is back to 2-3days instead of 8.
@vocal lava any way to elevate it off the carpet?
I have stuff but it hasnāt hurt the rug donāt think it will
I'm more concerned about the intake on the bottom and heat from the PSU.
yeah it's not about the rug
your power supply is gonna get caked in dust
Quick question regarding rgb fans and corsair stuff. I have 2 ML and 3 LL fans. Is there a controller that I can use to hook all of them together or is my only option the commander corsair hub and the separate rgb thing...I hate having to see that mess of wires...
should work
openrgb
corsair now has a unified hub thingie
The CORSAIR iCUE Commander PRO turns your PCās case into a smart case, using CORSAIR iCUE software to power stunning RGB lighting customization, precise fan speed control and accurate temperature monitoring, all from a single device.
on the other hand, what you can do, is ditch the corsair stuff all together and get lianli SL/AL fans
if I could, thats what I would do
or get Arctic Bionix ARGB fans
Ehh... never used other fans aside corsair since they were always reliable. Currently in an Air 540 case so ....wiring management was never a... priority lol.
Neat that will work for me.
What is the difference between the 10400F 2.6GHz and the 10400F 2.9GHz?
There is no base clock 2.6ghz 10400f that's a mistake
Right, I keep seeing both described for sale
It is strange
Also they boost up to like 4.something ghz
So just get whichever site has it for the cheapest
Np
Oh ok thank you I will look for something
Would you guys trust any online dealees to build a custom gaming desktop for you, if so which? Please and thank you
Online dealees?
I guess. You get to pick all the parts they build them. Or is that no bueno?
bad cpu
oh
9th gen is like 4 gens behind
its a CPU - Intel i7-9700K
and its so overpriced
the 9 in 9700k stands for 9th gen
latest is 12th gen
ok
and the pc is way too expensive
budget?
Is it worth getting an 11th generation cpu if there is not an upgrade path to 12th gen?
depends on your budget and how soon you plan to upgrade gpu
no reason to move off your 5600x though unless you mean for a second build
your 3060 is already the bottleneck
Second mini itx build
11400 still does a great job with a 3070 at 1080p or a 3080 at 1440p
so, again, it depends on how soon you plan on grabbing something stronger than that, like a 4080 or 5070
most people aren't upgrading cpu long enough for same socket upgrades to be a big deal
how much cheaper is 11th gen for you?
and what gpu will be paired with it
Not that I think anyone should run a 3080 at 1080p, but an 11400 would do a decent job with it on 1080p imo
If you don't need the igpu 10400(f) is usually a good bit cheaper tbh
Overkill if youāre just gaming
Yes
But like said here, it's overkill if gaming, 12700(f)(k) would be a better choice
ok
can someone link me that reddit page where you can sell desktops and laptops? I have an old w11 laptop i want to sell
R/hardwareswap
oh, thanks
it's an HP notebook
it does have an intel pentium
but it does have 8gb of ram and a 500GB SSD
sorry I linked the wrong one earlier. This is an all in one Corsair hub:
The CORSAIR iCUE COMMANDER CORE XT is both a PWM fan controller and RGB controller in one, turning your PCās case into a smart case. Use CORSAIR iCUE software for precise fan speed control and intelligent fan detection, along with RGB lighting control for multiple components.ā
eh not if I find one for dirt cheap but yeah mostly pointless
the 10700 will got to a mcpc
would be much better served by an i5-26400 by the time an i9-11900k is cheap
intel flagships hold value insanely well...
oh I know they do, but the socket is there lol and I get my mileage out of stuff
used i7-7700K is still selling for twice the price of the i3-12100 that absolutely dumpsters it
not for upgrade
you're going to be waiting for a long while lol
not you, other guy deleted his message
Reason: Bad word usage
ok sorry
ye I meant to reply to the other dude I'm garbage at discord on my phone
overpriced
really tho this 10700k I got for 280 bucks is prob good until 2030
5800x runs happy as a clam on a midrange $150 board
maybe get that board if you have a 5950x 3090 and still have some money you want to burn
personally running 5800x with tuned curve hitting 5.05ghz, 3800c14 1t gdm off ram, and a 3090 in a $90 mobo without any issues
380$
yeah, so 4 times the price of mine

that money could bump you from a 3070 to a 3080
what is your gpu?
3090 strix
i like strix good RGB
what do you think good motherboard to Ryezen 7 5800X
i want ASUS
I'm using an asrock b550 steel legend that I got a great used deal on
asus b550 tuf is more than good enough
ok thank you
Iāve heard that prices are dropping, are there any noticeable drops yet?
Hwbot go brr
qyuci question: I have a chance to get this"MSI GeForce RTX 3090 GAMING X TRIO 24G" will it fit in this case? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/avirel/saved/#view=NQMZcf
and is the power supply good enough?
Should fit the GPU
Looks like that whisper M is a good choice on the tier list too
Yes but 3090 is overpriced for gaming and will only perform like 5% better than the GPU in the list
Iām 5ā4 and it comes to my knees
Ye i made the list
1,099.81
Thats a scam
I am trying to verify first that it is not an open box or "refurbished" before i get it. that price sounds too good to be true
No 3090 is that cheap
The MSRP for the card is $1500 for founders edition from nvidia $2200 for that model from MSI
Trust me it's a scam
k
What site are you ordering from
crethome.com, but not ordering based on your advice
Oohhh
1100 is more like a genuine 10gb 3080 price in the US isn't it?
You won't be far off a 3090 with one of those
so i have since learned the bios on my b550 phantom is 1.5, and the 5600x i ordered is 1.2, this is good news however im wondering that since im switching from intel to amd, is there going to be driver errrors?
Hey everyone. I have a question about a motherboard in a new case, but the power button is a physical push to turn on. I wonāt be able to do that in the new case. Itās too far from the I/O. Where should I go to learn how to rewire or workaround it? Thank you
like intel drivers interfering with new amd drivers
When switching from intel to amd or vice versa or any motherboard swap, reinstall windows
should i reinstall before or after
After
Best practice is full reset, keep files is probably okay tho
ok appreciate the help
Besides at MC, the only similar cpu I see cheaper than that is the 10700F for $255 on amazon. I really want a 11700(f)/K to slap in a 500 series mobo I have, but they're prices are a bit wack currently. The i7's sure are holding their value pretty well.
Hey guys, would you be able to help me with where to plug in my front panel connectors on my motherboard? I'm using an Asus Z590-E motherboard and have a pic of the connectors below. Thanks for any help!!
Just realized I can't put pictures in this chat lol, they are labeled as follows:
Reset SW
HDD led +/-
Power Sw
Power led +
Power led -
There will be a picture in your manual to connect what to where on the front panel header
It wasn't very descriptive tbh, a few things weren't pictured
You good? Tbh I'm literally posting screen shots of the online manual....š¤£
Did not think to look at that, this helps a lot, thank you!
How do I jump my fans together
Splitters, if the fans don't have daisy chain

kinda odd parts selection for that case ima be real
locked board + unlocked chip + sfx psu + matx board + atx case
hm
I am odd :>, but I plan on doing am upgrade in the future, so I got a case that I would keep for a long time
Plus Iām a beginner
And Iām taking it as a learning experience
mATX boards can fit in ATX cases
I think
I dunno I just liked the case lol
Plus if I return my psu i have to return my gpu
So i donāt really mind having an sfx psu
I went through a whole hassle to get the case so I wonāt be returning it or anything
What do you think I should do....
I'm going to micro center in 2 weeks and from what I see they only have amd, but I wanna stick on team green. What should I do?
also know that sfx psus tend to have shorter cables
might not reach around dunno
also certain matx boards fit in certain atx cases
depends
Thereās an adapter
When I did the thing it said that there werenāt any incompatibilities and I checked the case website
The psu came with the adapter thingy for it being in ATX cases
adapter for cables?
or just a bracket
cuz a bracket wont help when the psu cables are physically too short to reach ur components
Bracket
Iāll cross that bridge when I get there on Thursday
Iāve been busy with lot of stuff, if I need psu cable extenders Iāll get them
I may or may not need extension cables
But at least with a bigger case I donāt have to worry about not having enough room ye
Yeah if you end up needing, try Asiagorse extensions
Oh okay! Thanks
What the hell, I shouldnāt have even did the return on my thermal pasteā¦
I didnāt even get my money back
My refund went to the shipping cost :/
I shouldāve just kept it
I only got 70 cent in return smh
I wouldāve been better off keeping it⦠next time I wonāt even bother returning it and wonāt listen to the bright guy who suggested I return it
š
I've done that a few times. Ordered something I thought I needed and by the time it arrived didn't need it any more lol
Yeah
Someone told here told me to return my thermal paste because the aio came with some
But like
I didnāt even get a refund
They just took it
And used the refund to pay for the shipping
I still have a stupid dual molex to 8 pin adapter I didn't even open the package on and it only cost $3 š¤¦āāļø
Fr
That's good to keep in a emergency pack
The thermal paste I had costed $8 but Iām still bit salty over it because Iām short $8 and they took the thermal paste
For fire starting and stuff
Plus Iām a teen and money hard to get
Money easy to get as a teen
You can basically keep everything you make
No rent or anything
It's great
Get a bag of candy from the dollar store and sell them for a dime each
Then have to study
We canāt sell candy at school
Jobs over a summer are great
Plus Covid
I canāt get job over summer either⦠Iām going to a college during then
Neither could I š
Iāll be doing courses there for a month
Or even some places have part time on weekends
Yeah
I donāt have a stable form of transportation to and from places mostly
I bike to my work sometimes
And family doesnāt let me go places other than to school alone, because itās unsafe
Oohh
Thatās good then
Yea
Which is why Iām trying to find other ways to get income like doing art commissions etc but havenāt been to successful with getting em
Itāll take a while
Oohh yea it is
Iām doing digital commissions for now
But if I wasnāt dealing with all this health stuff I might have a normal part time job š
Any recommendations on cases that can fit an nh-d15 and full atx mobos?currently using a corsair air 540 but looking for something with a smaller footprint. I do have a115i 280 just didn't use it since I didn't have an am4 bracket that went to it
full atx as in EATX?
Naw just norm atx. Some x570 strix board...F I think it was
Gfx is a xfx vega 56 so nothing too extreme. Can go to a smaller evga xc 3060 if need be
I just spent an hour nervously trying to figure out how to take off the front of my case
Itās 3am⦠Iām gonna go to sleep
Um a gpu from best buy?
yes
Yes can you rephrase your question? It doesn't make any sense
Whichever is your country
Corsair 4000d airflow, lian li lancool 215, fractal meshify C/2 compact are decent choices
Then whichever is easier to import from
I do not know, but I know someone in America, but in Canada it is available online, but in USA not
what do think ?
I'd be up to your budget. If it's like 300 extra buying from CA than US, you'd have to take that into consideration
And I have been looking into the 4000d so..
Hmmm
Look into which customs is cheaper and possibly might be better off with the US because of your friend or looking for somewhere closer to you
ok Thanks have a nice day
Finally posted my build in #build-pics
Trying to get a 3090 from the shuffle but rip never selected after the first time I missed the email lol
There is more ways btw
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/GPU-Buying-guide
šš thank you so much!
Np
are you trying to game or to have a workstation?
both
not bad
one VM is the workstation, one VM is gaming, and the other capacity is work-related/personal-project-sandbox stuff too
the 3070 is now for gaming, I'm hoping to get a Quadro RTX 4000 soon for the workstation
i currently have a threadripper pro 3975wx and a 3090
3975wx
very nice
i placed it on a new mobo, the asus ws wrx80 plus ram up to 128gb
it used to run a quadro rtx but i sold it to buy a 3090 in my area
yeah 3090 will get you more power/$ than a quadro
by far
128gb is how much my workstation VM will have haha nice
it's definitely a comfortable amount
i use it to run my models while im away for work and for gaming and work when im at home
models -- physics/eng simulation?
mostly physics models for cars like airflows and what not
i work in motorsport so having a super powerful pc is great
lol
Just curious, looked through the FAQs and rules and maybe I'm just missing it, how do I gain privileges to be able to post my build to #build-pics
Need to message a bit until you rank up
Gotcha! Thank you
Found a prebuilt with a 2060 and an i5 11400f for just over 1k. Is it worth it?
That's fine, if you're okay with open box tho you could get one with a 3060
Hey guys -- PC building noob here.. hoping that I've put together a decent PC for gaming + streaming. can anyone look over what I've got in the parts list before I pull the trigger and just give me general feedback? you can dm me if you'd like to help
Sure pop the parts into https://pcpartpicker.com/list and send us the link in the yellow box at the top
is 3070 ti decent value at all? they're just about the only partner cards frequently in stock and I'm considering just getting one for the sake of finally upgrading
Not for their listed price
yeah though so
900 seems like a big jump from 729 for the little bit of performance difference
3070 ti's that are scalped on Amazon etc are actually more common/cheaper than 3070 lol
huh
not even scalped, just what they're charging at my lovely local retailer lol
that's funny
900 for a 3070 is scalped weather or not its 3rd party
how much do partner 3070 ti's usually go for
750-800 ish retail probs, scalped like 1.1k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sRgRBj duke translated it to pcpartpicker for me
I have everything picked out on cyberpower plus a case and I was just gonna have them put it together for me and ship it
Do you care for the rgb on the aio?
If not liquid freezer ii is better
Or lian li galahad, i think that also has rgb
i mean liquid freezer does have rgb variant
It does?
do a steep CPU downgrade and get a better GPU
I'm trying to future proof and also have enough cache/cores/threads in cpu for multitasking though. you think I could get by with a lower cpu ??
no such thing as futureproof
ok then nevermind the future proofing. I just want to be able to multitask
the i5-15400 is going to smack your i7-12700k silly whether you like it or not
lol you can multitask with an i3
I wonder when they're going to make a 6 core i3
are you talking in context of streaming on twitch + gaming though?
12300 being 4p 2e would be nice
Nvenc with nvidia means cpu isn't utilized as much for streaming
OBS uses 0.1% CPU for me at all times while encoding 1440p video
I thought you could choose either or
yes but why would you
12400f and b660 prime would leave room for you to get a 3080
the 12400f is a newer i5?
iirc OBS effects to make cool stream effects use CPU tho
CPU encode is for the multi millionaire streamers with a 12900K in their dedicated second streaming pc
nothing a 12400 can't handle
It beats 5600x by a small margin
Cant imagine it is that much, but I did hear it was somewhat considerable. Should be fine I'd assume
More than enough for a 3080
ok so look I am a noob with this stuff so I really appreciate you all chiming in. I am kinda wary of downgrading the cpu though. I don't want to be running chrome (we all know how demanding chrome is), a game, obs, and whatever else and have stutters or whatever.
I thought I needed higher cache, and more cores/threads to cushion the multitasking
but I do want a 3080 I'm ngl
how does the 3070 ti compare with the 3080 btw
and.. if there ever comes a chance for me to upgrade to a 3080 or even 3090, the rest of my build will play nice right?
upgrading gpus should be ok
itās more performance but not much more
if you want more vram go for the 3080
if you donāt care for vram go for the 3070 ti
The 3070 ti is cheaper and still is pretty decent
@twin spindle I have a weaker cpu paired with a 3090 and 16gb ram
no issues with game + OBS + 20 browser tabs + discord + whatever I want
With a 3600 (equal to a 10400) I've streamed cold war through obs at max settings, with discord and Chrome open playing music, and maxed out gpu usage before cpu
Gpu being 3060 ti
1440p?
yeah
Oh did you get your 3090 back?
Nice
getting there
me hitting ram and cpu limits at 1080p in cold ware zomberts
maybe not cpu limit
but its above 80% constantly
how lol
ion
my cpu frametimes are at 2ms while gpu frametimes are at 5ms
patos game crashed multiple times when we were playing because page file smol
some guy didn't believe that 16gb ram was enough
I showed cold war running 1440p ultra 200 fps with 5 browser tabs open, discord, spotify, wallpaper engine, and 1080p60 youtube video playing
chilling at 13gb
oh absolutely doable
then why are you running out
only reason I hit 16gb ram usage is because I have wsl and wsa constantly running
so i for all practical purposes have 2 vms always on on me pc
thanks again for the help btw guys. if you saw anything else that was overkill or whatever lemme know
Psu could be changed, I dont trust Thermaltake at all, but maybe it's a decent model idk
I had a corsair in there before but I found the thermaltake gf1 in a tier list that someone pinned in here
I dont know about psus at all so im all ears tbh
Is it an a tier?
thermaltake toughpower GF1 is a-tier according to that list. and I had a corsair RM850 which I didnt see specifically (although the list mentions Corsair RM-i I think)
Rm 850 isn't as good as the rmx
But I think the rmx is much more expensive atm
If its A tier, you're fine then
Im just always weary of Thermaltake personally
I understand. bad experience?
As well as other people's experiences
If its a tier by that list it's safe

never shop by brand
lian li makes some great cases and some awful cases
what cases do you like?
I mean I personally have a lian li o11 dynamic
ok thats the one im looking at actually lol
corsair 4000d airflow is my favorite budget case when it's on sale (it isn't right now)
Td500 mesh is my fav 100$ case when at that price
cougar mx330-g air is my favorite super budget case
there's a lian li o11 dynamic air version .. its not the prettiest in my mind but it looks like there's a lot of airflow
Same, but p360a and neo air may beat our mx330-g air when on sale
if you want maximum airflow go for something like fractal torrent
p360a is insanely expensive right now
not sure why
O11 is not a contender for high airflow
as an o11 owner
Yea p360a is great when 60-70$
you buy it because pretty
not for performance
it does alright, but it's not a top contender by any means
ok but the actual o11 dynamic AIR is different from what you have right
or you have the AIR one
the air seems like a pointless product to me
the whole point of the o11 is that you can have a pretty glass front without sacrificing much performance due to side and bottom intakes
if you are gonna get a traditional mesh front with fans might as well not get an o11
something like p400a digital, lancool ii mesh, great midrange traditional options
Td500 mesh when back to 100$
...never mind lancool ii mesh is currently like $260 for some reason, assuming out of stock
Lol
td500 mesh is alright, wasn't a fan of the stock fans
No puns intended I assume
lol
And fair
the problem is when you're buying a case like that the fans represent a pretty big portion of the value
but it's impossible to make that case quiet with stock fans because the bearings make a clicking sound at low rpms
...does anyone have experience with any auron cases? or are those just off the table entirely
Dunno if it's a defect or with all of them
oh it's a cyberpower case
not sure
I actually had a cyberpower case that was surprisingly better than it looked
from a cheap used prebuilt I copped
looks like an oven but it had enough air gaps that it wasn't thermal throttling with overclocked cpu/gpu
actually thought it was a modded nzxt h510 elite or something at first...
ended up reselling it with a 2060 and the kid is happy
that's my only experience with cyberpower
looks clean.. as long as it wasn't overheating haha
