Corsair MP510, Force Series, 480... https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B084ZW96N8?ref=ppx_pop_mob_ap_share
thats why
Noone said Amazon doesn't have overpriced stuff
basically every pc part is overpriced on amazon lol
shouldve just got a sn550
Went what ever got suggested here last year
suggested by who? a monkey lol
oh god that mobo
Nah you just need to make good choices
Mobo is fine if you didn't pay that price for it
thats what i mean its stupid overpriced lol
im pretty sure the b550 is cheaper lol
then again it was a year ago
True
you didnt pay 220 for it right?
Nah 118
ok that aint that bad
That's decent ye
If you're looking at old parts, they're being sold 3rd party at just stupid price
Miners and scalpers only affect gpus and ddr5
Miners have little to do with the prices of lhr cards/non 5700xt, 8gb rx cards or fhr 30 series
thats why i said and scalpers
Majority or price increase is covid and demand skyrocketing
Dam
So when is best time of the year to upgrade
For best prices
As I aint in a hurry
Prices for ram etc haven't been affected
Black Friday/cyber Monday/day after Christmas usually
and new year sales
Alright btw what u guys think of amazon warehouse
scary
Online shopping from a great selection at Amazon Warehouse Deals Store.
This warehouse @topaz kestrel
spoopy
I got windows media create tool on the usb
Would i pick the EUFI or regular usb?
UEFI
Thank i’ll try it
I had the same problem when i tried it, it gets stuck on the motherboards logo
why is display scaling so much more blurry than gpu scaling
@little osprey congrats on your build bro
Those are super high end parts
Did you get your GPU close to MSRP?
Thank you
GPU was $2150
Not mine. I run a shop. It's for whoever buys it
if my h100i says pump failure but gets about 45*c under load is it still okay to play?
Just because your CPU is still cool don't mean the pump is failing.
How old is the H100i?
Is it making any sort of audible noise?
its like 1 day old
no noise is being made, the fans are moving extremely fast and thats it
@little osprey Looks good . Does the mobo have extra 90degree connectors or what? GPU power wires need to go straight down, but that's my ocd. 😅
would this pair well with m27q?
A 3070 + 11400F, I'd say mostly yes. It's hilarious the higher tier GPU's are almost 1/2 the price of some builds.
fr lol
They can't go straight down, the case cutout is the only way to feed the cables.
Most Dark Motherboards use angled connectors
I know, funny we don't get a cut out that's more adjustable. Ah, that's cool. With all the room from no HDD cages (usually), I'm surprised we don't get "straight-forward" mobo ports often, and go back to how GPU power ports were too.
I'm hoping it's not built yet and looking for suggestions on improving list, because if so, many things should probably be changed
good amount of improvements needed
Like?
keep in mind i already have this system, looking for upgrades
CPU&platform are 3 generations old, 1tb HDD doesn't make sense considering price of 2tb hdds, weird storage setup, h510 as a case is well, h510
Yea working off of that is more annoying
power supply, case imo most important
oh yeah and an easy upgrade of storage
BR is just not a great unit in general
weird storage but you already have it so whatever
Case and power supply probably would be fine for now
i just kinda picked up the storage as i went along
It's just BR450 with a 3060ti
I would rather not if possible
I’d get a 750w MSI A-GF
BR450?
650w is enough
I meant fine as in the only things to upgrade
EVGA br 450w
oh
A decent 500w unit will do just fine with 3060ti, it's just BR isn't a great unit
750w extra headroom for future upgrades
And it’s dirt cheap compared to the 650w version
it makes sounds when i turn the PC on so i feel like thats a good point
(wattage is not the real issue, it's just quality of PSU in terms of protections, voltage regulation, ripple, etc)
that power supply u should upgrade first
poopy one
Well, coil whine doesn't actually hurt anything if you have coil whine, it's just really annoying
But noises from other things can be bad
its a loud scratching sound
Pretty sure 600w is the recommended for the 3060ti
only when turned on
also when turned on it turns off the turns itself back on a few seconds later
that dont sound good
Does it sound like smth like
https://youtu.be/HP73edpQwgc
Coil whine can be caused by video cards, motherboards, power supplies, or even slight incompatibilities between these items :(
Reccomended but not necessary, a good 450w unit should do fine assuming lower power draw CPU, but yea, more doesn't hurt.
i think its just best you get a new and better power supply
What's your current budget
this one good or is there a better option
hoping to stay in the 60-70 range for a PSU
eh
Would've liked 100$ range but well, check if Bitfenix formula gold 750w is still on sale
My wifi doesn't really want to work with me atm
I'll just throw this link down for reference for you
https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
Looks like the correct formula gold
get the one you had before
much better deal
GT is a worse PSU, G6 is more expensive
G6 is a weird PSU coming from EVGA, it's seasonic OEM instead of the usual cwt, worse than G2 ofc but supposedly it included extra fixes on top of the normal focus gold platform
I still don't really know how I feel about g6, at least other PSUs tend to be better deals so I could reccomend those instead
ahhh i still remember when i guy told me i cant use my ryzen 5 5600x on my x370 board while i was using it, felt like yesterday 🙂
X370 doesn't officially support zen 3 so that's that, whether or not it actually works depends on the implementation.
well the asrock boards do my x370 killer sli/ac is working wonders with it
idk about like msi
Perhaps killer sli/ac works, but that doesn't mean all x370 boards work.
boards
the killer sli/ac board is like 1 of 5 x370 series boards that support it lol
The one generalization is that x370 doesn't officially support zen 3, individual implementations might differ.
well ive been able to overclock my cpu all the way to 4.85ghz stable at 1.35v
ok, apparently my friend said that i5-11400f would bottleneck a 3070, which is kinda preventing me from getting this https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali586/p/N82E16883360221?Item=N82E16883360221&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-83-360-221-_-12182021 . is this accurate?
no lmao
dude a i5 11th gen will not bottleneck a 3070, NOW if you had a 3090 i would say otherwise
@little osprey
ok
thanks
gonna hit him with this ss
👍
that is actually a amazing prebuilt from what the specs are to the price @little osprey
thanks to pato and other ppl
11600k wirh 3090 is fine at 4k
hey i remember you, you the guy that said i couldnt run my ryzen 5 5600x on my x370 board while i was running it lol, also to that i say, you could but itll be bottlenecked by a decent chunk
a 3090 is more meant towards like a i7 or i9 cpu, sure itll run on a i5 but u dont get as much performance
most irrelevant statement of today. i5 12gen beats most i7/i9's of previous gens. Depending on the gen, i7/i9 has also usually been barely an upgrade in most games, 4k or not.
I said it wouldn't be smart lmao
I didn't say it wouldn't work
And 11600k is equal to a 5600x. At 4k it will barely affect a 3090
you said that it would basically kill the vrms on my board and it didnt lol
By default the board shouldn't allow the vrms to supply more power than they're capable of, so as long as you don't oc or such you should be okay
uh oh, but i do overclock to 4.85 ghz at 1.35v, but i dont do it much bc it gets my room toasty, but its stable and doesnt overheat surprisingly
ryzen
What board?
well i did use my bios to overclock and it had the same performance
AsRock X370 Killer SLI/ac
it has some chunky heatsinks on the vrms lol
Size isn't everything
well it is in a good airflow setups and stays cool sooo
i aint complaining, it just works
What cooler you got on that
Good news is as you've noticed you lucked into having an x370 that somehow supports zen 3
i have a coolermaster masterliquid ml240 v2 rgb
its like 1 outta 5 boards in the x370 series that can handle zen 3 lol
None of them are actually supported, some of them are able to work
Bob outta curiosity
but i thought there is a list from asrock what boards support and which dont tho?
Are x370s and 350s similar to 550s and x570s in terms of vrms?
No
That's unofficial
but it was on the official asrock website?
ASRock managed to hack unofficial limited support into the x370
eh it works
Yup
and i can still overclock
to a good stable 4.85ghz at 1.35v and stay under 70 degrees Celsius under load
70 on the CPU or vrm?
Hmm
from what i saw
I'm surprised they're keeping up that well
well its still a really good board
I'm looking at the spec, they aren't great
Man, it's always amazing how much things have changed in the past few years
yep
Six physical phases on a relatively high end board, these days that probably wouldn't push past mid tier
eh as long my games can stay at a constant 165fps at maximum settings im set
Kinda curious to see what features ASRock cut to get that thing running
Have you noticed anything obvious?
nope everything is the same, all it did was add support
nothing seems to be cut when i checked the bios, actually i think more stuff was added than removed lol
eh never used it
nothing major disappeared so
alright im going to bed, my final cable i needed to finish my sisters computer for christmas is gonna come in tomorrow so ill be doing that
Is an evga hybrid kit for my 3080 ti XC3 a good investment?
what's the price?
109 on their website
USD
bruh
mega scam lmaooo
109?
Yes
I just need the cooling kit yeah
wait
Lol
ohhh
Oh no lol
109 for an xc? damn
Is the cooler even worth it ?
I mean why do you want it?
I haven’t used my computer yet since I’m deployed but I’m already concerned about temps
is the gpu regularly going past 80C or something?
lol nah not until you actually see its temps
then you can justify it
Ok for sure. Most I’m gonna be doing is 2k gaming , not max settings
yeah I think it'll be fine
unless it's a hotbox of a case like the h510 or something lol
It’s the lian li dynamic with like 12 fans including the gpu fans lol
Ok sweet thank you 🙏
My cpu is water cooled
Bet
just monitor temps when you're gaming and stuff for a bit yeah
hwinfo, MSI afterburner with rtss
or I think nvidia has their own version
I can put an overlay of temps on the screen constantly?
it feels too intrusive tho
yeah with rtss
Rtss got it
it's great cause you can choose what's on the on screen display
anything afterburner can monitor can basically be displayed
hi
what the best?

you not gonna send prices aswell?
SAMSUNG 852
GIGABYTE 505
Asus 706
MSI 578
Almost this price is a dollar
the price doesn't matter so much
the gigabyte one i'd imagine
you should never buy something with this train of thought lol
long link moment
theres also a better version of it
@humble fossil i'd say go with this monitor
what is the difference
higher refresh rate and frame rate
msi and asus 1ms
the one i said you should go with is 170hz and 0.5ms
i think
you also get a free copy of outriders if thats your thin g
decent game imo
but the gigabyte one i sent is the best
do you use gigabyte?
are the colors perfect?

oh on my monitor
my monitor is only a 24inch 144hz, its just a budget but good monitor
MSI QHD Rapid-IPS Gaming Non-Glare Super Narrow Bezel 1ms 2560 x 1440 165Hz Refresh Rate Adjustable Arm G-Sync Compatible 27” Gaming Monitor (Optix MAG274QRF), Black
im not sure how the more expensive ones are
@humble fossil i recommend the gigabyte one, its the best for its price and if you dont like the stand just buy a cheap $20 one lol
How accurate do you need the colors? Pretty much any decent monitor has enough for basic gaming, but if you're looking at doing professional level content creation you should probably look at slightly higher accuracy
Personally I second Muffin's recommendation of the M27Q, but if you need a more professional monitor I can look around
^^
Hey guys, should i download the latest version of bios from my mobo or just the one that’s compatible with my cpu?
What CPU and what motherboard?
Does anyone know what cpu is best for an RTX 3060?
11400 would be pretty enough
I have an am4 mobo
Oh 5600x is then
It would be alright tho I think but 5600x is way better
yeah
Go for 5600x if you can effort
Ryzen 5800x and aorus b550 elite v2
In bios its says it has F1 but i need F10
I'd go for the most recent then
@desert gulch i found a way to win the b550 vs. x570 debate permanently
just use both at the same time
bribe them with an rgb fan
If you have to update bios, might as well get newest.
hahaha
Thanks
Which mobo is king?
for all out? x570
you get more pcie gen 4 lanes and stuff
and maybe better vrms if you get a really good one
its just that theres no point when a decent b550 will handle any zen 3 cpu
and most ppl dont have multiple gen 4 drives, or gpus running in gen 4
What keyboard layout do i choose?
Hmmmm
I have a x570
@finite sinew you and me almost have the same exact build
Beautiful
Also depends. If it’s only for gaming and you like to angle your keyboard a lot I suggest a 60% one. But if you wanna use it for everything I would go with a normal keyboard layout
I meant like for windows installation
I have a gtx 970 and the drivers for it are for windows 7 and 8, do i still get it if i have 10?
I don’t know. I’m sure they may have drivers for windows 10 support. I think Nvidia has drivers for windows 10 on their site
Yeah but i’m trying to get them for my gtx 970
And its an old card
Im going to upgrade when i can get a good priced gpu
What card do you want ideally?
And what cpu do you have?
Are you in the us?
Yes
New York?
No
3070s are always in stock here
Really?
I am 2 days from new york
You have a really good cpu
I’ll likely buy one for a little over retail or camp at a Microscenter near me
I have a Ryzen 7 5800x
I got it around September
Bro they have a Ryzen 9 5900x for 400$ here
I’m tempted but it’s not worth it to upgrade given what ppl have told me
And a Ryzen 9 5950x is 669$
Thats a greate price
But its whatever you do with ur pc that might be worth the upgrade
I’m just worried about temps
Idk if my cooling is good enough for this toasty CPU
Also I only game and do school work. I don’t do heavy editing or rendering work so my tech friends say I’m just gonna be wasting money by upgrading to a R9 5900x or a R9 5950x
yep
absolutely
I'd say that lol
5900x is already a monster
unless, you sell the 5900x
for the 5950x
I have a 5800x already
But the 12600k is the best bang for buck cpu out there I know that.
Oh nah bro. I got a 5800x
the 300 dollar deal?
Yeah but I’m talking about the one I currently already own. I would upgrade to a Intel cpu but I gotta buy a whole mobo and all and I’m not tryna do all that
understandable
nvidia driver page, hit Beta/legacy drivers and see if you can select Win10 from the OS drop down menu. I can't check right now.
5800x is generally harder to cool than 5900x and 5950x
12700k can be if you live near a microcenter
its like $299 at mc lol
absolutely insane
No way? Fr?!
yeah, it's because of the higher heat density
5800x has a single core complex with the highest watts/core
5900x and 5950x spread out those cores into two core complexes and have lower watts/core bc more cores have to share a power budget
Wow
i've got a 5800x under a galahad 360 that hits 90C in under 1 second if i start up prime95
hitting 18 watts per core
in a smaller area
Yeah they run hottttt
5950x will do like 12.5 watts per core? over a twice as large area
Then how would you explain the heat issues ppl get when they upgrade from a 5800x to a 5900x/5950x when they game in warzone for like 4-5 hours. Like they get 10 degrees more than the 5800x when they have the 5900x/5950x. They got the 360mm Corsair Hi150 elite AIO too
5950x @ 220W: subtract 20W for SoC, 200W for cores / 16 cores = 12.5 W/core
5800x @ 165W: subtract 20W for SoC, 145W for cores / 8 cores = 18.125 W/core
5800x puts out a lot of heat, but in a tiny area
I too have a 5800x with Nzxt X73. with stock settings it goes to 90C if i run cinebench23
I had to adjust PBO limits to lower temps
that's just heat saturation while the 5900x/5950x are doing more work probably
i'm speaking worst case scenarios
True they get much more frames in warzone
where your cpu is hammered to 100% the whole time
Like 50-70 more frames
that sounds more like a ram or gpu difference
5800x 5900x 5950x should all be within margin of error in most games
my 5800x is a lot less efficient than my old 5600x though unless i use my custom power plan
Must be their 3090 then
same games that my 5600x would draw 40W in my 5800x likes to draw 70W+
at locked 60 fps
lol
I was seeing about 40% usage on my CPU locked to 3.6ghz on my 3600 on 1080p ultra
And my 5700xt was pinned
Saw about 200 fps
it was way lower in the actual game
I use adrenaline to make sure I don't get more than 170 fps now
damn i didn't have RTSS on when i was testing the game
i was just using the in game fps counter
my 3080 bottlenecking the heck out of my 5800x
yeah
7900xt
time to buy 4090ti
I have faith in Radeon taking a noticeable margin of better perf over nvidia
I mean, they're improving really quick
When you consider my card is the best Radeon 5000, and it was only 2070s level
the other day my 5700xt crashed 3 times trying to open DDU with no GPU load
it's gonna take a bit for amd to convince me that radeon is worth buying
lowering vram made it less stable
Radeon drivers are flawless now
Source : Trust me bro
it went from 0.6% invalid shares at 1850MHz
to instant full system crash at 1800MHz
radeon cards are so weird to OC
I need some insight on this build. Its my first build and I've done some research on parts and I think i've got some good stuff here. MY budget is 1200-1300$ range (peripherals included). Heres the build: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/9cjj8J . Lemme know if theres something i could change out for better price to performance. Also, I wanna know if the power supply is good. I don't want any of those exploding supplies i've heard rumors of.
you can definitely do better than integrated graphics for a $1300 budget lol
Psu is a solid meh
Like, could be better, could be worse
I'd def grab a better one tho
these are CAD prices btw. So whatever the USD price is, its about 1.5x more
even if you need to fit in a keyboard and a 144hz monitor you can at least squeeze in a used gtx 1070
yes it's a canadian list i can see that
1070 is 600$. ill have to wait a bit to buy any gpu XD
well pcpartpicker says $220
did you change the country to Canada?
oh i see what was wrong
for some reason my canadian pcpartpicker was set to amazon only

Lol
amazons horrible for pc parts here x.x
everything inflated there
i couldnt find any psu to fit the budge. Especially the fully modular ones. Semi should be ok right?
semi modular is easier than fully modular in most cases
Really?
it's not a meaningful difference at all
but yeah
it's not like you are going to power your pc without mobo power or cpu power
the fact that they're bundled together makes it a little less cluttered in front of the psu
True
also i heard power ratings are just a "flex" thing and dont actually do much to benefit for the amount they cost, so i just opted for a bronze one
can you recommend a better one?
it's fine as long as you're not trying to power a 3080 with it
so
at this budget might as well keep it and save some money
should be ok with a 3060
even 3060ti should be fine right?
ok thats fine, im not planning on breaking the bank that hard anyways XD
idk what the canadian used market is like but 1070s go for $300 usd all day down here
i was thinking between this and i5-11400, but im the performance is better on this ryzen cpu?
no
well, cpu performance 11400 wins
gpu performance 5600g wins
but you should really be setting your sights higher than integrated graphics
1070s are going for 500-600 here on ebay and amazon
well gpu prices have never gone low since covid started and idk how to find a gpu to fit my budget
might want to try canadian r/hardwareswap or someone on US r/hardwareswap willing to ship to canada
even 980ti is going for 400$
i get the vast majority of my used deals from US r/hws
the shipping prices are insane here
i know
ill be paying as much for shipping as the actual card xD
i shipped a graphics card to a friend in ontario
$43.65 USD shipping here and she had to pay $25 import tax to pick it up
i tried to sign up for newegg shuffle, but realized its in USD and shipping fees apply so i gave up on that
and the card itself was only 140 USD
https://www.reddit.com/r/CanadianHardwareSwap/new/ anyways you could try here
i've looked there
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/kyCpdD this would leave you $375 budget for a used graphics card
at US prices that could get a 1070
It's a bummer. I do suggest hunting for a comparable 10 series if possible, 1070 uses a lot less power.
980ti isn't a bad alternative but you'd prob need to up the power supply a bit
1070 is literally more than 5 times the performance of the 5600G you're thinking about using so..
if you can do it then do it
well you wanted to pay about $100 for an igpu with 1/5 of the performance of the 1070
considering the 5600G performs about the same as the 3600 on the cpu side
1/2 price of any 3060, not a bad bang for buck overall.
and matches/loses to the 10400 most of the time
so... the market is what it is
used 1070 is still way smarter than gaming on a 5600G
Not brand new big deal, it's actually funny how good 4 year old GPUs are, depending on the game and res
if you can't find a 1070 for $375 a 1060 would still be miles ahead
you're severely overestimating the 5600G's integrated graphics if you think it can even begin to compare
GTX 1060 is still ~4 times as powerful
then im capping my budget with a 4 year old card, vs paying 1k for both a cpu and built in gpu, while it is worse, atleast i have something to wait until gpu prices go down enough so i can snag a decent gpu
like i said
5600g is literally a worse cpu than the i5-10400
so you're not making a big brain move by slotting a 3060 in with the 5600g
and you can just resell the 1060 whenever
budget gamers will always exist
but if you're convinced that you're right then go on ahead
nah its just a difference between having a built pc right now and waiting for an unexpected amount of time
age of the components is far less important than you seem to be fixated on... 4 month old integrated graphics are still much weaker than a 5 year old midrange graphics card
we still have 8 year old cpus aging relatively well
no i meant like if i get a apu, i could have a working pc right now, which is something i need. Vs having to wait until i can get a 1070 at around 300$
sure i mean i'd rather spend a week looking for a 1060 for ~$300 and have a 4 times better pc
up to you
it's not going to be hard to find a 1060 around $300 lol
its been harder than you would expect here xD
i do have a week before i really need one
i can always look around and if not then APU is the way i go ig
even after international shipping i still got my canadian friend a gpu with similar performance to a 1060 for sub 300
how much do 1070s go for in usa?
300-325 depending on model
i just sold one for 325 recently
that's usd though so like 370-400 cad
325 USD?
i was saying you could go down to 1060 and still blow that 5600g out of the water
1060 6gb trending at around $200-225 usd over here
that shipping price is kinda nutty tho
still sounds better when considering the build you sent me is around 100$ cheaper
a week is a decent amount of time to find a good enough deal
now that i think about it, its not that bad getting it shipped from usa. Only thing is, i have no way of knowing if the seller is selling a legitimate card or trolling
usually people don't bother trying to scam when paypal buyer protection is involved since it's known to almost always side with the buyer
can try local marketplaces too, facebook, kijiji, etc
if you can find a local deal it'll definitely be cheaper
local bestbuys never have a gpu in stock either
you'll basically have until mining ends to resell it for a similar value
which is currently expected to be around july i think?
July?
then there will be a mass exodus of used rx 580 8gbs for like $80 again lol
they always keep increasing the dates tf
at first it was end of january
e.e
USA prices are not looking too bad, even with the shipping its still cheaper than any graphics card being sold here
damn
I found a 1060 6gb in ontario for $275 cad before
but my friend and I decided better if I buy one here and ship even if it's more expensive bc I know how to do maintenance on it and she doesn't
yea i tried to get those, but they are always somewhere far away from where i live
and someone always beats me to it xD
gotta repaste those old cards
every good deal I've gotten on r/hws was on a less than 15 second old post
I just refresh the new post feed
you must have decent luck
i'll have r/hws up on the second screen while gaming with friends
and refresh it once in a while
ah
quick question for that build you sent me
@earnest oliveyou used 3600 mhz ram for i5-10400. I was always under the impression you dont need so much for intel and people usually opt for something like 2600-2900 mhz?
lol it's not a matter of how much you "need"
there's no such thing
better ram is better regardless of amd or intel
for the current price difference 3600c16 is worth it over 3200c16 for most budgets
ah ok and for a gtx 1060, is there a specific oem model that is a better deal or just any work?
anything works, dual axial fan > blower = single axial fan generally
alright thanks man, you helped me out a ton! 😄
It'll be worth it the 1st game you play and not have it be 30fps
i actually just looked at ebay.ca for 1060s and seems like the price has gone down in the last 24 hours
managed to find one for 330 CAD. Debating whether i should buy or wait for a better deal xD
i need a 5600G build pcpartpicker
APU build plz
ik pato made one but idk where it is
thanks
no clue if thats what you're looking for but its a 5600g one lol
most any build that has been made and cheap
okay thanks
np
I remember that conversation, boy that was something
lol
Holy crap that Mobo is expensive
Don't pay 180 for a b550 lol
but yeah, @obsidian wigeon , I'm looking for something case wise that is small and sleek, but could handle a 3000 series gpu, as well as a 10th or 11th gen intel cpu. could possibly look at threadripper if I can catch it on sale.
preferably one of the 1000 or 2000 series threadrippers if that's the route i go
hm
3000 series could mean anything so im still standing on meshify c
it's not that big but fits e-atx i think
oh nah, it doesn't
is e-atx a different size than matx?
i was thinking of the meshify 2 xl
still not overly familiar with jargin >.<
well e-atx is huge
ahh
it's the form factor that the mobos for threadrippers uses
Oh, I see
if ya want tr you're forced to go big
nah, you can still do ryzen
like 5950x
still gonna be better than those older tr in most cases
this is the one ur talking about right?
yeah
ofc, it was made a while back\
Older TRs were baaaad
I’ve been messing around with a 3960x rn and it’s just under my 5900x
If you really want a good workstation I’d honestly go for a 5950x or waiting for 5000 series TR
5950x is a beast 👀
@vague oracle could you please send me a link to an amazon posting of the 5950x in CAD? Can't find it on my own amazon
unlocked just allows for use of all threads? or is it allows for overclocking?
Weird link
Cause he won't be doing any OC
Overclocking
All AMD cpus are unlocked
interesting
but oc is optional
What’s he planning to do with the PC?
pbo?
Auto OC basically
safer than manual
cause static voltage even on 1.35v degrades em
pbo is dynamic
Work station for rendering, design, as well as basic tasks such as accounting software. Want to future proof it a bit, because he's had so many problems with his pc crapping out when running anything intensive
What programs will he be planning to use?
Probably your best bet would be a 5950x/64Gb of ram/ and a 3090
I asked him for a list of what he's planning on, but I just want to take a look around and see what's out there
Somewhat of a “budget” version of my workstation
he want's to swap to mac, but I can't help him with any issues that has
his current asus laptop is "only" 9 years old
That’s a horrible idea because of compatibility issues
yeah
Many CAD programs don’t like mac
thats why im looking at pc parts n stuff
yeah and Im thinking anything using 3d printers will freak with mac unless specifically designed for it
alongside this, what would you think for storage? I was kinda thinking something like 2-3tb sata ssd, and 1tb m.2 ssd
I’m using 2 samsung 980 pros and 2 8Tb HDDs but I’d recommend a 2tb Toshiba X300 and a 1TB Mushkin Pilot E
Does the X300 even have a 2TB option? The 4TB is $95ish currently
any noticable difference between these other than storage size?
nope
I had too many Seagates fail on me, and Toshiba X300s out perform most WDs iirc
only storage is the diff
didn't think so but formatting on the names is different so was confused lol
but x300 is expensive for 2tb one
Why do you need so much storage?
I've had a bunch of WD's, but the X300 4TB is what I'd get if I for some reason needed another HDD.
^
cause I want it ;')
real talk though, I want to look at what the requirements of what my dad is looking to do before I look at the size of storage
Ahh so this is for your dad
What’s his work if you don’t mind me asking?
8TB is good if we want to install every game we have at once huh, lol
He's looking to start some entrepreneurial stuff, which will include 3d rendering , design, as well as just financial stuff. He's also looking to learn programming which is kinda secondary to the first part
installing the last 2 cod games
Ahh I thought he was already doing it professionally
Id probably only do 4tbs and a 3070/3080 instead of the 3090
best I can do is room for a demo of 1.
yeah def doing 32 gb minimum, ik myself from gaming that 18gb was a bottleneck for some stuff as is
combined with school work
Ehh gaming and CAD are 2 different beasts
I’ve gotten away with 8Gb when I was first starting it
Only when I started doing big commissions not caring about optimizing it did I start using 64+
my school work was maxing out my 18gb ram
I was doing multiple 3d rendering processes on mapping software
That doesn’t sound right
I have to say, if you find a 2TB X300, it's likely an older model that's not even close to the same.
oh btw. For anyone about the X300.
Your screenshot up there was the older models.
Is a Meshify C able to hold a 3080 with a matx mobo and fan?
easily
It's a relatively deep case is it?
my own pc is barely able to fit my 3080 in a mid tower
I should just get the massive obsidian case
The meshify c, the original one can fit a 2080ti ftw 3 if tht helps at all
Not much clearance tho
you know what is great about your build? @vague oracle
he wants NO rgb, so it would be cheaper 😂
also only needs 1gpu 😄
though rgb ram looks 🔥
Not the best shot to show the clearance but better then nothing
idk which exact model, but mechify C
if you want to check things, look at case for clearance stats, use this for GPU length stats
https://www.techpowerup.com/gpu-specs/
Eyyy same gpu
Thanks 🙂
Meshify C has room for 2 120mm fans on the front, right?
oh im dumb
nvm that question
3* or 1x140 and 2x120
so if I was going with arctic pwm pst 120mm fans, I'd want 5 total, along with cpu cooler?
haha, look at the pic 3 comments up
Why does my pc keep sending me to bios?
Oh wait
can it not find boot drive?
Why would it suddenly not?
I've had sata cables fail before. replaced them and was good
other than that, I couldn't tell ya. Not good enough with pc's to know most of the ins and outs
Its a m.2
not sure then
Might have come loose tho?
m.2 port fail or sumthin?
I didn't have a screw on it
could just be corrupted os
oh yep
it came loose lol
why didn't you screw it in?
Heat sink should have kept it on
I didn't have one for it
That's what I was gunna do with mine, cause it has 2 ports for m.2 but only 1 is available with my gen intel cpu, so stole the screw from the other port cause 1 was missing
the screw is a must to secure it
I screwd the heat sink on but the card was smaller
then don't put heatsink on
just screw the ssd in only
otherwise the problem would still happen
Yep came loos
yeah for sure screw in that ssd, itd suck if it fell and broke
What do you guys think is better? Multiple displays using extended screen, or an ultrawide?
what's better, clamp mounted stand, or normal stand?
That... Was the most painful thing ive ever done
Who ever invented non magnetic screws... They are a monster
Ultrawide would be cool but I'd still want a 2nd display for gaming to have Discord or other stuff on 2nd screen while playing.
Easier said than done
I can get it done. Not saying your pc would work after, but I can get it done
normal screws + magnetic screwdriver = good.
electronics + magnets = good
the gpu looks to be in easy spot to take off
especially if it's not mine
for a work station, do you guys think a ultrawide > dual monitors, or would duals be better?
The screw is on already
I've run duals, but never an ultrawide
i know
Need to go back to GPU power on the "end" pointing forward or towards mobo. How it often is on the outer side is junk, imo.
i was sayin that it would've been much easier had the gpu not been there
Yah. Anyway finally in
right speaker, center speaker is what I imagine
i think that stuff is used for surround, there should just be a regular line out
Only those 2 and headphones witch i use normally so dosent matter
yeah my lil 2.0 set uses a single cord and I have it in the Line-Out port. Headset is usb though.
Ummmm
Ummmm
I booted let me in then when i tryed to open space engineers shut off during loading and now only loads to bios again
in bios does it see the ssd? If not, I'd shutdown again and reinstall the drive
how many times have you restarted your pc since this happened? does it always take you to the bios
thats past the bios, so the drive is detected and bootable
run automatic repair i suppose, cant really hurt anything
Ok i think it fixed whatever was happening there
PRobably from the ssd getting jumbled loose w/o the screw in it.
Run my .bat file thats pinned in #windows-ios once just to be sure
We cant help if you say it ran out of something
Give specifics
out of ur mom
But it could be your page file
It let me in and memory was fine and now it just kicked me out and is asking for keyboard layout
Most probably corrupt install
And it was fine
windows must've gotten corrupted during the process
How?
How do i fix it?
reinstall windows
.
or do what rawr linked
I can't get to that
Yes you can
?
The thing goes through fixes in 5 mins
Ok its a vid?
How would i reinstall windows?
Nvm pc decided to show me
Wait it loaded again i got to bat
Soo it found nothing
Then wth is happening
.....
Press 1 to restart
Its not 1 big scan
Its a series of like 5
Restart pc and run the bat file again
Its working for now
Its not properly applied the fixes yet tho...
looks good
Riddle me this
I install a amd chipset driver
I get less input delay in fortnite
After a few minutes
Suddenly I get input delay again
and even worse is that i can't gpu scale it just switches back automatically
i've been getting so many issues with my new pc it sucks
How much input delay was there originally and how much has it changed? What’s your new pc specs?
@kindred pawn
You can turn off reply ping 🤦
@fossil cedar I fixed my motherboard boot/OC error
Congrats
Got the Asus armory thingies and that fixed it
There is originally 0, after a little bit it feels as though vsync was turned on, I know for a fact it's not on cause I tested it on and off, it's slightly less input delay than vsync
I have a gtx 1050, a ryzen 7 5700g, g.skill ripjaw 16 gb, b550m-k

Make sure xmp is on, having slow ram especially on ryzen will mess with your frame times
Is there a huge difference between 3600 cl16 and 3600mhz cl18 ram?
Ye
3600cl18 is almost never worth it over 3200cl16 even
As most 3600cl18 kits have horrible sub timings
If ryzen 3000/5000/12th gen intel go 3600cl16 or if you want to memory overclock, if not go 3200cl16 instead
Ok ty
Hi I am ordering the MSI MAG B560 Tomahawk WiFi Gaming Motherboard and want to know if I order 2 16gb of ram will it work or do I need to 4 slots of 8gb
Can anyone help me fix my computer
Answered ^
What seems to be the issue?
Noob to this chat, sorry if I'm breaking any form: I'm looking for some tips on building 19" Threadripper-based server with 8+ hot swap 2.5"/3.5" SATA drivers. I went to pcpartpicker, but am concerned that what I come up with may not either a) fit properly in the chassis, or b) be able to dissipate heat adequately. The cooler and CPU size are what concern me the most ... is there a channel to discuss this, or does anyone have direct experience with this kind of config?
Pcpartpicker is great but as far as i know doesn't really include server cases and power supplies
y seems to be geared to building gaming rigs
More just any sort of desktop
just send the pc part picker list and pato will halp u
Is this a good place to post my NewEgg PC build and get feedback?
Cool! I'm building this around the MB and video card that I got in the shuffle a while back - this will be my first AMD system, and my first system in almost 6 years. Also never had an M.2 drive - but assume I can use the one on this list for system, and another SSD for storage. Would love feedback on whether I'm going too far overboard, if this is a good combo, and general feedback. Really appreciate it! https://newegg.io/d9753e9
Reason: Bad word usage
@little osprey Could you let me know what case you used on this build?
EVGA X570 Dark + 5950X + 3090 FTW3```
Looks like it's holding an EATX mobo + a 3090 + radiator/fans and still having room to spare. I've got a similar build (also 5950x + RTX3090) but with a Fractal case that's not deep enough to hold both my GPU and 360mm rad/fan so I had to move the radiator to the outside (no room on the top, either) and it looks like 💩 now. Now I'm shopping around for a deeper case 😅
What is your budget and what's the use case? And I'd use https://pcpartpicker.com/list instead of newegg.io so you can get cheaper prices from varying sites
Hey Pato! Thanks for a reply! Use case is an all around gaming PC - I'll move it over to parts picker.
Perf, send me the link in the yellow box when you're finished and let me know your budget
Hey any suggestions for a m2 ssd need it at 500-1tb size around and trying to get a good price but need a good fast a reliable for long term suggestion needed in uk
Just need a cheap drive for storage?
75gbp for a 1tb sn570 seems good @bold turret
https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B09HKDQ1RN
Well id love cheap but need it to work good and efficient as will be running a windows to it
Is that good?
Sn570 is good
@fossil cedar whats does the difference between m.2
sorry? the sn570 is an m.2
same tier drive just sn570 cheaper
Really thats it so they work the same fast the same and life spend
within margin of error
https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/nfpmP6/seagate-firecuda-520-1-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-zp1000gm3a002 this would be the next step up if you wanted faster but i mean not worth imo
@fossil cedar - Here is the system from PartsPicker. Its within my price range (would like to keep it under 2K, minus the board and GPU, which I already have). The parts I'd love feedback on are memory and M2 drive. For the ram, I was going to go with 4x16 @3600, but chose the 2x32 @4000 - the price was similar, and I'm not sure I need that much ram. I chose a full tower because I'm worried a mid wouldnt fit the two water cooled 2x fans, but if you know of a decent mid-ATX case that can do it - I'm game. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cmGfsX
@topaz gazelle u prob can find a much cheaper case thats whey to expensive
Btw what you going to use the pc as the item you selected are over done if is just for gaming
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TgJVqp id do this
P400/p500 are fine picks. Sabrent rocket ssd is good. Tons of ssd choices these days

🤘
