Pink is where ssd goes. Red is where screw to hold down ssd goes
yea i have tried that as well but will re-test a bit more methodically
i hate that they put it at an angle
Make sure you unplug the PC from the wall for battery method
And give it a few minutes with the battery out
yep everytime i put my hand in the case the power is removed
Thanks, I’ll tell that to my friend
He just wanted to verify that’s where the m.2 should go
Good practice
For laptop ram, it just needs to be a SODIMM at the proper frequency, correct?
SAME
Of the correct generation, yea
ddr3 sodimm doesn't go in ddr4 sodimm slot but that should be simple
Question should I buy a cpu cooler or use the one that came with it?
I'm wanting to build a small computer for linux that will be used for server hosting/ and a normal computer, but i dont know a good processor, and gpu i prefer an amd as the drivers are easier to get
What cpu?
i3 intel 10th gen
unfortunately still not getting anywhere. I am not even getting anything on either monitor -- using the motherboard DP and HDMI both monitors say no signal. I read a few posts on reddit etc and some of had luck reseating the cpu. thoughts? anything else I should try? Unfortunately I dont have known good DDR4 or motherboard to swap parts around ...
Stock coolers fine ye
Alright
What's your pc budget and why host server on same pc?
budget is $700 to $800, and i dont wanna server host on my main since i use it for game developing, gaming
Are you plugging them into the gpu? And what cpu?
using the built in video, GPU too expensive atm. Intel Core i7-11700K
Hmm
I could throw in a old gpu
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WHKn3Z I'd do this
Nah should be fine
issue with it is the one server hosting im doing needs 2gb worth of a gpu for some reason.
its fivem (gta rp servers)
i thought about getting an amd rx 550 2gb for it
Odd why would it need vram? Could it not just use the igpus ram?
i honestly dont know if the 5600g would handle it
if you look it up fivem requires a 2gb gpu for vram
Seems to be the games not the servers requirements which makes more sense
no GPU?
I am using the motherboard video, with the price of GPU now a days. I didnt buy one and can get by with onboard for now. I have a couple old GPU I could try
Should probably try those
kool cant hurt
I'd go 11400 instead
alright
still no video and verified on old pc the gpu is good. I also checked the CPU and everything looks fine.
is their any amd alternatives maybe?
the motherboard did squeak at me for not having power on the GPU but still the DRAM light is on
I did add power to the GPU
Not as good with integrated graphics for the price
only reason im asking is for an aircooler on the intel it may not fit fully in the case im gonna build in
im either going with a nzxt h210 or a lian li 011 mini
thats only if i go with the mini itx)
Got a question for you guys. I currently have 16GB (8x2) of corsair vengeance rgb pro @3600 . I would like to buy a gpu but obviously thats rather difficult atm so i figured i'd throw some money at ram. If i were to buy the same kit but 32GB (16x2) and throw those in together for a combined 48GB would there be any negative effects because of the sticks having different sizes? Running a 5600x on an Asus B550-A btw
32gb is more than enough.
im runing 32gb with a ryzen 7 3700x and barely ever hit over 16gb unless im doing heavy game development.
Agreed, but im only asking because of the price on the 32GB kit not being much more than the 16GB
i don't know if their would be affects with throwing in two 16gb sticks so on the safe side just get another 2x8 sticks same mhz and brand.
i almost went and got two 16 but i stuck with buying another 2x8 pack
Well if anyone has the answer to this send me and @
Any thoughts on my next steps? Guessing I should either buy a new mboard or memory to try and determine the bad component?
Both of those cases are meh, i built you a list of better parts btw and the case has way more hdd trays
Running mixed kits like that is a bad idea
gotcha
i actually think im gonna go for a 2tb, 500gb ssd, and 8gb of ram for now
with the intel cpu
the fivem server doesnt use alot of space to be honest
That's fine too, thought it was gonna be a nas type server
I'd get 16gb tho, no real reason to get 8gb anymore
Ok tried a known good PSU. still the yellow dram light is on. Its down to cpu, motherboard and memory. I have no known good units to try so will have to buy one of them and try to eliminate. What do you think is the likely suspect?
Anyone know how to properly benchmark 2 systems? (this will be about builds in a second I promise)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/6hWmy4 aight im probably going to get bullied but idk what else to get
My roomate is going to share the pc for his editing so that is the only reason i need 32gb of ram
Have you already bought anything?
And why 2nd one need to be the same one lol?
I'm not the expert here but would a 5800X and a b550 or X570 better fit his needs?
i also have a 60 inch desk
No
if they lived near a microcenter, yes, if not, no
then 5800x is a good deal, since it's 300$ at MC
If you buy it on xbox or Microsoft store you can play on both
I just wouldn't buy it on steam
Is there a problem with the steam version specifically?
If you have it on steam you can't play on xbox
Other than that no
Oh ok
Same game on steam as Microsoft store
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9fYfYg I'd do this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/47cBsX any changes I should make?
What's the budget? Assuming you dont have the gpu yet?
2k
Why is the one I showed not good tho
H100i kinda bad, ballistix better ram, p31 faster rnd, suprim x is a way too expensive model, a-gf better psu, don't need to buy full price win10
Also i fit 3080/6800xt in there instead of 3070
I'd prob do pro vdh wifi if they wanted wifi
Oh didn't see they had WiFi board but ye
ahh ok but all this will be compatible with a 3070 right?
could you elaborate how this would affect me? im not very familiar with topic
The laptop has 2 m.2 slots, and since it should've came with a m.2 ssd, you should be able to get another m.2 ssd and put it into the second slot.
Shouldn't have any issues
and is that ssd compatible with the board?
Shouldn't have issues, should be m.2 key m
thank you comrade, appreciate it
do you think this laptop is a good choice for gaming/ 3d modeling?
Specs are good, but not too sure about cooling
how can that be solved
If cooling is not good, which I don't know if it is, you could get smth like a cooling pad or undervolt things
You're welcome
i have a similar model
the cooling is quite good, but might wanna redo thermal paste while you're upgrading ssd if you plan to run cpu-heavy loads like 3d modelling
you already gotta open up the laptop so not that much extra work
i see, makes sense, thank you mate!
if you're feeling a little bolder try liquid metal
i used liquid metal on mine with great results
+50% sustained CPU performance 👍
Bold because it's electrically conductive? In any case, I'm getting tempted to repaste my cpu.
What's a good PSU with 750 wats?
Yep, needa be more careful
I gave you a whole list ;-;
I know but I cant find it on the newegg custom pc builder
You not building yourself?
Nah im using the newegg custom pc builder
Why didn't you mention that lol
No list
Yes
can you take a look at this list and see what you think? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/phv2gt
he put a 3080 in there
seems ok
the motherboard is the only thing im not sure about but im no expert
i have the same motherboard right now with my ryzen 7 3700x
thats just for my server hosting/linux pc
What’s the best value online pc builder in uk?
for prebuilts?
Ye
i wouldn't know that since i'm in america
Ok
most of the time i do custom builds since sometimes they come out cheaper
but i got my gpu and cpu before the whole scalper thing happened
yes i may or may not have almost made my laptop explode

spilled liquid metal on motherboard
wouldnt it be hot?
metal liquid = 1000+ degrees
how would that cool your laptop
maybe when it cools?
Gallium is liquid at room temperature
and liquid metal is a subcategory of thermal compounds
ohh galium
i thought you meant like molten copper or something
Pretty sure most LM products like conductonaut are gallium based
you should have used liquid caesium instead >:)
Im putting a build together for a friends kid who cant spend more then $600
Any thoughts on this
The list with this case?
looks good to me just make sure you have a cpu to update the bios if it needs it.
most of the time you just need a usb to flash it tho.
anyone here using i9 12th gen desktop ??
Thank you. Will I be able to do the update with just a flash drive?
no
Would do better on the SSD, mp33 kinda thing, that case prob bad, could go mx330-g air
The only big request was the kid wants alot of rgb if possible
So that's why I have a 0.1kd /s
This is from his MOM For Christmas I want to build him a computer and I have $600. He plays fortnite, minecraft, Warzone. Loves RGB
Ig you could just go for montech x1 for rgb
Even though it's not great
It has rgb
Hello can someone help me build a pc, please and thank you!
what budget
like build a parts list or a pc in real life
i don't know if that apu will handle warzone well to be honest
ok so same build just go with that x1 case
really
that was the only thing I could think of to stay in her budget
my old gpu (rx570 4gb) paired with a ryzen 7 3700x couldn't handle it
i'll see if i can find some parts to help but i have a feeling the apu may not perform well with warzone
Let me know if you find anything. Thank you in advanced
ouch
so 1080p medium is 100fps
so it will work but i think i have something help the apu a little more
oh ok
@restive halo
only thing is you may just have to buy an extra fan for the rear
i will say if it was in your budget the nzxt h510 elite comes with 4 fans and has really good airflow for my ryzen 7 3700x and rx 5600xt.
underload everything stays under 65c
its actually good for airflow.
i played rust for 12 hours straight and it stayed under 65c
Yeah on a 65W processor
The NZXT H510 Elite is NZXT’s premium spin on the H500 -- no, not the Cooler Master H500, not the H500P, not the H500M, and definitely not the 500D or A500, but the NZXT H500. NZXT’s H500 is a case that wasn’t top-of-the-line in thermal performance but that we liked anyway for its good build quality at a very reasonable $70 price point and reaso...
nzxt made a h510 flow so that fills in for that
The flow is a good compromise. At least it's not a solid glass panel that air can't get past.
my h510 elite has a side vent and a bottom vent
i would recommend the flow if someone has a 5900x and a 3090 or 3080
Trying to make air turn at a 90 degree angle is bad engineering
The side panel blows against the glass, not over any components
The H510 Flow is not good at all either
They gave it mesh, not airflow
Yeah, better but still far from good and cheaper options exist that include just as many fans, like p400a digital
Sorry my kid was getting into things. This looks great I have a extra fan I can through in there
alright that works just dont put it in the corsair fan hub
unless its the same fan and compatable
Can I buy just one fan that is the same?
yeah just check the ones on the corsair case
cause with icue your friends son can control the rgb on the fans and ram. with out any additional software
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/n4WKCz
This was just sent to me
that quad core wouldnt play warzone at all probably.
Oh
your better off with a 6 core for better performence
Ok. I figured I would ask because it was shown to me lol
I'll go with the build you made
i use to have a ryzen 3 2200g i will say that thing could barely handle roblox.
the 5600g i would say is a better value at the moment due to the gpu shortage and scalper prices
i've been looking at getting a 3080 or rx 6800xt
I had the 3700x/5600xt before I got the 3060ti
If I get the 5600g could she pair the 380 with it later or would it be a waste
3080?
?
3700x better than 5600g
unless you mean 5600x
he was talking about his computer
No the 5600g is for a build for somone
this is what where talking abt, which i dont know to be honest
for me i wouldn't upgrade to a 3060 i would move on to a 3080 or rx 6800xt
Quick question: I'm buying a msi b550 gaming edge wifi atx mobo, but I can't find the frequency of ram I should use. I was thinking a 3200 mhz should be fine. What do you guys think? Can I goto 3600 perhaps?
what cpu?
3600c16 is good for ryzen
Ryzen 5 3600
Only if you can't afford $10 more for better...
3600 is best speed for most ryzen cpus
good bit better performance
3600c18>3200c16
my ryzen 7 3700x with my rx 5600xt handles unreal engine 5, blender and all of the games i play.
Yea I've heard but man those get so much more expensive where I live
it handling it doesnt mean its as good as it can be
it would still run better with 3600mhz
the gpu is where it struggles.
Ryzen 3000 RAM frequency, latency, uclock, mclock, and fclock matter more than anything else for the R9 3900X, 3700X, and 3600. We're looking for the best RAM for Ryzen.

Buy...
and it isnt like 5600xt is hard foir a 3700x to run
Whats the highest I could go comfortably? Is 4000+ mhz going too high?
nope
if you compared 3600c16 to 3200c16 both with 3700x/3080, youd see a noitcable difference
Just gaming or blender and other applications?
3600c16 is about 10-15% better than 3200c16
yeah well i aint spending $1500 on a gpu thats normally $700 or something
bro youre missing the point
with your setup yes its fine
but theres still a performance difference
a decent one at that
i know if i got a new gpu their would be
Do you need a cooler for ryzen 5 3600 or stock ones fine?
Stock should be fine unless you overclock
depends on your case/airflow
and if youre ocing
if you have semi decent airflow you should be fine on stock without ocing
Nah no ocing for now but I could with my mobo right? It's msi b550 gaming edge wifi atx
yes
very easily
also please dont spend 200$ on a 3600
it shouldnt cost more than 160$ now
then translate usd to cad
I'll prolly wait a bit for prices to go down. I know electronic prices take a little longer here to go down
It's 269 cad rn
yeah not even close to worth it
Won't get much better than it is this week for a long time
According to you it should be around 200?
check used 3600s
new 3600s are overpriced, and for some reason they havent gone down in price since new cpus have dropped
wdym
are you talking about the 3600x?
the normal 3600 should be cheaper then that
There's two types of 3600 showing here. Ones 3.6 ghz and other ones 3.8ghz
Ah yes that's the 3600 xt
that explains it
Not worth it I'm guessing?
the 3600 is more then enough
whats the normal price?
this might be a good time frame since amd cpus are about to get eatten by bitcoin miners for l3 cache
which i've seen alot of my friends buying the 3000 series processor since they're easier to get hands on for now
Seriously? First the gpus now the cpus too??
Is this cuz of ethereum 1.0?
i think so
I thought people are switching over to nfts
some people are
well i think they're making so gpus wont be needed anymore soon for bitcoin mining
which i would love to get my hands on a rx 6800xt or 3080
3090 are a myth in canada
bruv
They only exist in fairytales tbh
a rx 6900xt is $1600 in america right now
That's why imma just hold off on gpus till next year July lmao
i dont really wanna upgrade to ddr5 yet to be honest
i'll stick to what i have now for another year and just get a better gpu
It's not worth it. 3-5% performance boost for twice the price xD
All this means is, ddr4 will be cheaper
and to be honest i dont wanna go to windows 11 either yet
i actually thought about moving over to linux only if it supports everything i need
Linux is nice. Better than windows especially now
I swear they go for 10$ in some websites no?
they do
Found on where they went for 30$ but I used promo and got 15$ off
ah
And I just use the free ms word
The online one
So basically I only pay greedy Microsoft the bare minimum xD
i'm working on getting a server hosting pc for $700 thats gonna use linux
700$? That's ultra cheap lmao
How do you even get to that price point these days without cheaping out on parts
Ohh
Idk if that's worth ngl. I was told 5600g is a decent apu but apu+ gpu is considerably worse than cpu+gpu
its just for server hosting it aint gonna be to bad
@next beacon Sorry I had a work cal. What I was saying was the only reason I upgraded to the 3060ti when I did was I won it in the New Egg shuffle
ah
Why not just use cpu and a really really cheap gpu like a 1050?
Or 980ti?
Wouldn't that option be cheaper?
not nessecary
the ryzen 5 3600 are like $200 right now\
i'm not gonna get a 5 1600 as i heard it didn't like certain ram
55C is pretty hot for 10% cpu usage isn't it?
Also one last question. How is the armory crate software? I heard people find it annoying for rgb setups and such compared to asus mobos?
armory crate is horrible
Dam
i have a msi mpg b550 gaming plus and its amazing software wise and for my ryzen 7 3700x
No issues with rgb or anything?
nope
Then imma just buy that. It's for sale 179 CAD rn
Reg price is 259$
Seems like a good deal
i got it at best buy for $125 usd since my other motherboard died
How is a motherboard boosting your performance by such a significant amount?
well lets just say the x570 i had survived a fry along with my gpu and cpu
my cpu and gpu are running better then they always have even before that happened.
Run to run variation most likely
How much is ryzen 5 3600 in usa rn?
How much should it be?
Do ya think it'll go lower than that?
which one?
3600
i have a feeling probably not
Its being sold for 269 here in Canada
Debating whether I should pick it up along with the mobo
I'd get a 5600x tbh
Those are going for over 350$
Yee
I was thinking that was USD and I was like, "That's how much I bought my 5800x for"
You Americans always get electronics for cheap xD
But yeah, 5600x would be worth the money spent on it
It's up to you, but you'll get better performance out of it than you will a 3600
just go with the 3600
Well if you're on a budget then don't go amd
its not worth spending the extra money to be honest
Reason: Bad word usage
oof moment
I used the poop word starts with s
Jeez xD
I was saying is Intel worth it over amd since their mobos are expensive and kinda bad
i don't plan on switching from amd for awhile unless i have a great reason to.
cpu wise atleast)
Like msi mpg has everything I need and more. Meanwhile anything from Intel that comes close to that is like twice the price
lol
Give me a moment, I'll sort something out for you
amd, was smart to use the same socket for awhile to be honest
all they did was add more features every year.
All Intel did was "MORE OVERCLOCKING YEAAA" -.-
And if you want more ports etc, then pay up 500$
If you got a budget of only $1000 CAD, the MSI Mpg isn't gonna be a good idea.
I'm getting it on sale tho
And you gotta get the rest of the pc too don't you?
Pfft I'll just not use a case
The case isn't the issue
Is this your first time building a pc?
Yes
Okay, so I'll recommend a couple things
First, if you're budget is only $1000 cad, you can't get the mpg
Second, you can save more to spend more on a pc soxyou can get the mpg
higher end mobo doesn't give you that much anyways
But honestly for your first pc unless your budget is higher, your expectations need to lower
I dont mind going up to 1200$ but that is max
I'll be honest, my first pc was not pretty at all
I can lower expectations, it's just hard to find stuff at good price and know what's right when everything is expensive right now
Well let a techie or someone knowledgeable help you find good deals.
That's literally their job here on this server is to help people
On tech-deals thread?
That, and also, using pcpp already finds the cheapest parts from a plethora of websites.
I am using pcpp
send pcpp link then
Gimme a sec
You're not looking hard enough then
Let one of us see the list and we'll see what we can change to fit the budget better.
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/2znqcT this is an intel build i made a while back
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/2GMysX this is what i was going for since i was able to push to 1200$ so i thinking a few parts more expensive
ono
Do you have the GPU yet?
or anything in that list?
he has a 2060 on the list of the amd one
No im waiting till next year summer to buy one
What do you plan on using till then?
When are you building it?
Next year. Just buying parts here and there for now
Don't.
wait to buy tbh
Bad idea to buy parts in stages
It's just asking for regret and doa and pain in general
Save up more money, buy a gpu first, and buy the rest of the pc at the same time
I always thought gpu was last buy
And you should buy everything at once anyways
hes right
With how stock is, you want to secure a gpu first before buying anything else
im waiting to get my hands on either a 3080 or rx 6800xt/6900xt
So if I want to build this say next year, you reckon this would be alright? I mean only the prices would change between now and summer 2022 right?
the prices will most likely be cheaper for everything and gpu will hopefully be cheaper
Just keep saving money, then come back when you're officially ready to build it.
Prices and parts will all change
Next generation AMD chips will likely be out
ddr5 supply situation would likely have changed by then
So I should buy everything same day? Not even wait 1-3 months for good sales?
decent chance 12th gen Intel prices could have changed
Within the same month is good practice
You'll be able to build a better performing pc and might even be able to spend some extra on cosmetic items like rgb
since the return window is generally 1 month
By that point, 4060 might be out
@carmine swallow if you can though, secure a gpu asap
I dont think that's happening anytime soon. My gpu price point is 350$ or less lmao
With still the same stock issues as the 30 series
I'm not caving to this gpu craze
who knows, that's the thing with talking about 1 year in the future
You don't have to, look on bestbuy.com every wed-friday from 9am-12pm, you should be able to get your hands on something at msrp
I'll look but the gpu craze is worst here in Canada
that's asking for a lot yaknow
Well it's the only way to find a gpu at msrp right now
Huge jump between 1200$ and 350$ xD
I wish nvidia would release rtx 2000 again, but ig they are too money hungry for that
They kinda did
30 series are actually cheaper than 20 series
like twice now
Well, at msrp they are
They just don't have enough capacity to make more
Yeah man, keep saving and maybe buy the summer you'll have enough to get better parts, and MAYBE gpu stock will return to normal
Highly doubt that second part tho
12gb 2060 is coming
ya
The idea being the older process node isn't as overloaded as the new so they can make more
I guess that's as close to a 3050 we'll see on desktop
It is but not as much as newer 7nm and 5nm
Are the "new" 2060s going to have the tech found in the 30 series like gen2 rtx cores and other stuff like that? Or is if just going to be a carbon copy of the older 2060s
it's exactly 2060 with extra vram it seems
the bus width is narrower tho
192 bits instead of 256
yo guys
im using a amd ryzen 7 5700g, im experiencing delays as if vsync was on but it's not
not sure why because it's 10x better than my old pc and it didn't have that before
does anyone know why
it's every game too, started off with rainbow six siege then moved on to dead by daylight and now tf2
Reduced bus size means reduced profits, it won't be too bad. Scalpers on the other hand...
Well there is always scalpers, but the reason why they are such a problem nowadays is because of miners buying up so many gpus, so gpus because a luxury item so people started charging more for them.
The scalpers exist because of the extremely high demand vs the supply. They're only able to charge so much because people are desperate.
Miners only come into play in that they're more likely to pay scalper price because they know they can recoup costs, then sell the gpu again.
I mean, the scalpers have always existed but this is the first we've seen them in computers. They used to do concert tickets, shoes, anything they can profit on
ok i am first time building a pc (switching from prebuilt 1800$ budget its fine if its over by a bit) what do i do/ what parts do i get
First thing is to get a 3080. It'll take time to get it for retail price.
$900 or so is what you can expect for a 3080 from retail, maybe $1000 depending on model
i would get a prebuilt cause im impatient
besides they're not bad value these days
Yeah but you'd have to compromise on the gpu most likely, and bad memory.
well alienware memory and ram is pretty bad lol
abs is good value but the ram is eh
I have some issues that are appearing on my pcpp list and I was wondering what I can change to fix them?
Warning! The Gigabyte B550M DS3H Micro ATX AM4 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 5 5600X 3.7 GHz 6-Core Processor with BIOS version F10. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, upgrading the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.
Note: The Corsair RM (2019) 650 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply length of 160mm is within the Cooler Master MasterBox MB311L ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower Case maximum of 325mm, but exceeds the recommended length of 140mm. Please verify that the connector locations on the power supply will not interfere with the structure of the case.
Note: Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders.
the bios is ok
ur psu might be too big for the case
okay thank you
good motherboard
okay i will add that
I mean it can ship with an older bios and that mobo doesnt have flashback so it can be problem
Lol
thank you 🙏
oh it doesnt
Also its better to share ur pc part picker list here so we can improve/give advice @rare musk
ds3h is very sad mobo
uhh im okay with my specs but okay
@fossil cedar go cry
hey i wanted to ask
is a 3060ti with ryzen 7 5700g good?
i bought a pc with it
and i just want to know whether it performs well in anything i throw at it
You can swap mobo for a b550m aorus pro, which has flashback in case bios, and I say you could swap for a dif case like say p400a and grab smth like a A-GF 750w for PSU
should be good if you bought it
Revo df 750vcheaper than a gf
Fair
Also u for the most important part on that build
The cooler
@rare musk id do this
do any of the warnings matter?
the list is bad
you need a 5950x and a 3090
^
Guy wants an matx build i thinks
So i didnt change
I try to keep as much of what isnt a problem in there personally
Because the guy selected it because liked
usually people pick mATX case because they think mATX motherboard means they can't use ATX
and mATX is barely every smaller than ATX
Im not talking only matx tho
If its good enough i keep it
Helps peoples confidence too
Unless a much better alternative is available
which p400a is
And won't have any trouble with psu
and is easier to work with and build in
p sure dealing with PSU cables will be tight without sfx/-l
Most compact ATX cases take the same space on a desk as a mATX case just they are taller and maybe every so slightly longer or wider perhaps
But anyways p400a >:P
P400a is very nice indeed
Sadly not available where i live
Imma snag a 4000d airflow
Does anyone know why ddr5 has stupid high latency?
Ddr4 has higer latency than ddr3 too
As do all the other gens
Remember this is early stuff
Things should be a lot better in a year or so
Early runs are usually about as much performance as a good kit from the old gen
DDR5 is much more than higher speeds, other things like the dual bus affect transfer a lot.
Fractal c mini
Lol I had a guy ask me to build him a starter gaming desktop for $200
I told him Chromebook and GeForce Said
you could probably put together a caseless 2200g system for $200
unless he expects peripherals in that price too then he's just living in fantasyland
Ok I will put it in build pic
We themed it blue
my mom and I
I cant post pictures there
it wont let me
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Knightw0lf/saved/4YZgBm
should i change anything going for a white/blue/gray build
skipping on gpu right now and psu 😛
ill have to change the motherboard for the USB 3.2 Gen 2 or Gen 1 headers.
Get rid of that h510i
That cpu
And that aio
Get a 5800x and a galahad white 360mm
And a p400a digital white
o opps forgot to change taht
You dont need thermal paste
Coolers ship with some
Get rid of that too
That ram is bad too
wait people use the paste it comes with?
3600c20 is oof
i hope this is joke
Yes
case
i mean
o
using included paste is fine
it's not gonna make it bad
It does
Yes
but yeah that corsair aio is eh
i'm talking to a dumb cat so why should i trust you
i was just replying to the point that stock paste isn't enough
lol
Dont
I literally dont care
Hi, I am sorry in advance if my question doesn't make much logic, but is there any sort of use (OTHER THAN MINING) into using Risers, PCIE 1x to 16x 16x, or vice versa?
but I see so many ''Internal USB/Adapters/etc. Cards'' on Amazon
and the mining stuff feels like its just mixing it all up to me (someone who's starting to learn about PC building)
those aren't for gpus
I mean the 'idea' of multiplying and mixing stuff like Usb and SATA and PCIE
but there is no advantage into multiplying your 1x PCI using a 16x PCIE?
or whatever in that same train of thought
https://www.amazon.co.uk/BEYIMEI-Expansion-Connector-Controller-Internal/dp/B07PPN9XXW/ i never knew these actually existed
because the guy who installed my Asus Z-590-A told me that to use any of my 16x PCI-E other than my GPU would just affect the performance of my GPU?
i mean i'd imagine using a pcie riser has a performance diff but its prolly so small its not noticable
I think by using other pcie slots you are taking away resources from the top slot and also usually only the first and second slot are 16x, and not all second slots are 16x, but it will usually go down to 8x, 4x.
ASUS Prime series is expertly engineered to unleash the full potential of AMD and Intel processors. Boasting a robust power design, comprehensive cooling solutions and intelligent tuning options, Prime series motherboards provide daily users and DIY PC builders a range of performance tuning options via intuitive software and firmware features.
thats my motherboard
it has 3 x 16x
yeah those 2 extra 16x
Not 3 16x, 1 16x, or 8x, 4x and 4x
Yes
ah I see
well then, wouldn't a 4x being turned into multiple 1x PCE with adapters be a gain of possible storage
with NVMe adapters
I think that's why gaming on 2 gpus is actually worse than gaming on one because you are taking the resources from the 16x slot and separating them across multiple slots
how big of a difference in ram for the MHz of 32 and 36?
Link your build?
i was going to get the royal but was wondering the Mhz
If you're going AMD, ideally you would want 3600cl16
^
o ok got it
would something like this give more possibilities of nvme through adapters on the 1x

3200cl16 is fine, but there is a loss in oerformance
3600cl14 better
but 3600c14 is expensive
and the price jump rip never mind then 😄
Yeah
No u
adds $100 just for a slight faster speed
I used to know how to do the math for it, but I think I remember the difference not being very big
I'll be honest, I'm not too knowledgeable on pcie, I just knew what I told you about the resources being divided
And that 1 gpu is better than 2 for gaming
Oh I got a quick question, is the Original Ethernet port of your motherboard as good/better/worse than one added with adapter card?
kk
Depends on what the network card is offering, my motherboard has a 2.5Gb ethernet port and a 10Gb ethernet port, most have a 1Gb, so it really depends on what network adapter you get.
You really shouldnt need higher than 1Gb unless you're doing a lot of data transferring
Only time I would suggest a network card is if your motherboard doesn't have built in wifi and you have to use wifi.
@little osprey also I didn't ask, but are you just building a gaming pc? Also could you send a link of your build?
actually its kinda complicated
I upgraded a few things throughout the years but now i'm stuck at the GPU bottleneck
I somewhat rebuilt it on pcpartpicker
not sure how to share tho
Check out Brodius's completed build on PCPartPicker! Core i7-11700K 3.6 GHz 8-Core, GeForce GTX 1060 6GB 6 GB DUAL, Meshify 2 XL ATX Full Tower, ...
@sharp tundraah there you go
That's your current build?
yep
thats a very big case for the hardware you have chosen to fill it with
Is the newegg custom builder good? if anyone has used it before
Hey guys, I have a Meshify C and B550 Tomahawk. I'm thinking of buying a NH U12S- will it fit in my case and with my two Team Force Delta RGB sticks?
instead of buying that
Frost spirit 140
i forgot about that
Also im pretty sure pa is 120mm
Yeah
that's a great idea yeah
but just saying if i really insist on air
which i won't but just an example lul
Smort
cool! thanks guys. Those fit with my RAM?
yeah
awesome awesome. thanks guys!!!
What cpu you tryna cool and what country?
R7 5800x. Philippines but a homie is in the US right now to bring it home for me
In the us?
yeah US sorry, edited it
im looking at it - which size should i get? and never dealt with an AIO. any tips on maintenance or maybe point out some common pitfalls
Don't need to do maintenance bar cleaning dust out of it, just like you would with an air cooler anyway
Up to you, if you want to use precision boost overdrive (pbo) I'd lean towards the 280mm or 360mm but idk if the meshify c supports 360mm
Also use the Ryzen offset mount
Yep it does btw
No problem
yeah I didnt have any option... I lacked space and everything else bigger was back-ordered... so I just went big
XD
can someone help me do a 600 euro build with a gtx 1650 low profile ?
what will you be using it for?
@tight sorrel gaming on competitive fps shooters like cs go
step 1: reset cmos
🙂
Do you have the 1650 already or is the price going to be included in the 600 Euros? Also what region?
@potent portal i don't have the gpu and from eastern europe, romania
Ok, the only way to get a 1650 is going to be the used market, and you'll be looking at used things for other parts too at that price range. I have no idea what markets there are and how they're priced in that region.
But then you'll have no budget for other things. The case alone will cost about 75 euro for a cheap low end model.
Then the cpu, motherboard, power supply, memory, and storage...
Understandable. What you can do is get a used workstation with a xeon for about 250 euro and then you can get the 1650 to put in.
i currently have a 750 ti i maybe i should get the other parts and save money for a gpu for later
That wouldn't be a bad idea
yeah but if you saw my other texts you can see that i'm annoyed at the fact that i have a 240hz monitor and i can't uncap it because of the gpu
im looking to upgrade and i have been since late 2019 but when the pandemic came, the shortage hit and now idk what to buy. my specs are: i3 7100, b chip gigabyte board, rx570 4gb 2x fan, 500w psu, 16gb of ram, corsair spec-02 redshift case, 3 ssds totaling near 1 tb and a slightly corrupted os. im planning to go win 11 when i upgrade but i want to go amd. if i cant go amd how can i fully wipe my drives (we have another win 10 disc)? i dont want to do a boot n nuke, so where can i get a adapter?
optimal budget is around 400 bucks
To start you can fix the corrupted OS with the batch file in the pins in #windows-ios
whats a batch file?
Any particular reason you prefer amd?
performance per dollar. i dont have a job so all my money comes from gifts and/or taking a few oddjobs to help the neighbors
Intel is better performance per dollar. The $150 10400 is almost as good as the $300 5600X
ah i see.
who posted it?
It's this one #windows-ios message
so just copy paste it?
I bought a new motherboard recently, the MSI MAG B550 Tomahawk, and it’s the socket isn’t recognizing my Ryzen 3 3100. Any fixes?
im not on my desk top rn so ill do it l8r
There's a file you can download and it'll run automatically, it ends in .bat
I also checked and I have no bent pins and went back to the other motherboard in order to check my cpu and it worked
"Supports AM4 socket 3rd Gen AMD Ryzen™ processors, and future AMD Ryzen™ processors with BIOS update"-msi site
@weak yarrow Here's a platform upgrade that will allow you to do Windows 11 https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sNJX8J
thx
3100 is based on 2000 series architecture, might need an older bios
Oh I see and I’m trying to flash a new bios
Lemme try flashing an old real quick
I'll check what version works for you
the 3100 is a 1st gen i think. so im just looking at the ite
Oh thanks
The Ryzen 3 3100 is 3rd gen ryzen
I think it came out as a budget option
It's third gen but based on second gen tech
Alright I’m going to check
Yee
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Lncmy4 thoughts (btw i already have a 2080 super graphics card)
Wait are you using a 2080 super or 6600xt?
Ahh
Have you already purchased the cooler?
Ok
so what are your thoughts
Happy Thanksgiving
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CxhBsX I'd do this
Anyone have thoughts on a mini ATX build?
Micro atx? Mini itx? Or compact atx?
whats better i5 or amd 5800x
I want to try and build the smallest I can
The 12600k? At the same price as the 5800x if you include mobos, you could get the 5800x for like 50$ cheaper but if you have /don't mind spending the extra 50$ I'd get the 12600k
Itx then, i mean bit more expensive than atx/matx bit harder to build too, other than that it's fine ye
Hello stupid question what would be the best way to give my pc internet a wifi card ? I’m confused currently my pc has been running off a small wifi extender with a Ethernet cable it has been giving me a bunch of lag and high ping recently
Yeah usually a pcie wifi card although I'd consider looking into powerline adapters as wifi isn't the best for latency
I've heard powerline adapters are not super great if your house is old
Oh true yeah need to consider that
Hi, i was windering if its possible to case swap an alienware r10?
Not without a power supply, motherboard and usually cooler swap
That's the smallest
Hmm got stuck on the case and motherboard https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vfHbNP
So many motherboards
I’m so confused about motherboard flashing
The red light on my motherboard is done flashing and my usb is done but my motherboard is still on. Should I keep waiting?
If it's done, it's done
just use galahad if you want the rgb :p
royals expensive
and go like p500a
and b550 aorus pro ac
The bios flashback didn’t work and my motherboard still doesn’t recognize my cpu :/
Yes
Ya that where my work incentive extra cash for working all week is going to
Lmao
Ya I was aiming for a cold ice 🧊 feel for a computer
And probably my only build for next 20 years
I'm making a extra $100 just for working all week so that's nice
definitely don't look like rocks
hi
I mean if you like them and don't mind the premium then sure just definitely better for the money
Pato go watch latest ltt video
Lol
Why lol
so we can't have 3 cpus on 1 board
Not with that attitude
Video, rendering and gaming on each cpu

ASUS TUF Gaming GeForce RTX 3070 Ti 8GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 x16 Video Card TUF-RTX3070TI-8G-GAMING
What is the difference and what is the best?
Looks like you copied the same thing 3 times?
It's slightly differnt looks like
different boost clock speeds most likely
Im going to through a build together
@viral ore What is the difference and what is the best?
nothing that'll make too much of a difference
clock speeds, and cooling solutions being the main things
STRIX has higher boost clock
what is the best
link please
the strix is the better card
but also its shipping from hong kong?
and its 1500 for a 3070ti
dont get either of them
I want something good for gaming and fast response
What do you recommend
Get whatever you can that isn't inflated too high over retail value
We can't afford to be picky on brands and models right now, just take what you can
If you have to buy a 3060 or 6600XT to hold you over until you can get a higher end model, do that
I will buy in installments
u sent the link..
that's why I'm building a pc without a gpu
That's fine, you'll be able to resell the used gpu for retail price and pay off the installment plan if you find a better one before the installments are done
what the best 3070 ti 3080 3080 ti
Run games easily and good frames
What would be a good gpu to play fps games im going to be at 1080p
What games? At what resolution? What frequency does your monitor run at?
And gets expensive
4k for some games
4k basically requires a 3080 or better
And even then a lot of games can't hit 60 fps
And only get ready to over pay
144hz or 165hz
rdr2 the crew 2 and more not much
Yeah you need a 3080, 3080 ti, 6900, or 6900XT
:(
😅 ..
I still haven't won the newegg raffle after 4 months of entering for a 3080
:/
What would be able to play 1080p 144fps on fps games I was looking at a 3060 or maybe something lower if I can get away with it
I registered for a contest that I haven't won yet :)
ok what the best 3080 or 3080 ti
For 1500$ you can buy a 6900xt straight from Newegg soo
I think Nvidia is better
6800xt smh there is no 6900 btw

Hmm. Thought there was.
Nvidia and and are neck and neck. Nvidia only has extra features like nvenc and dlss
idk
And better ray tracing
