sounds good, let me know if you have any questions
lga2011 and 2011-3 is a pretty niche platform these days
for the performance it gives at the price its at ($70) i think its good in some cases
dont get me wrong i found a new way of looking at x99 now so i will keep it in mind if i build a workstation
5600g > 11400 if you arent getting gpu
actually you're pretty spot on there, for workstation and server use, it'd be a no-brainer at a budget like this, but when it comes to gaming there are different variables involved that dont quite play to the strengths of that platform these days
of course you cant compare x99 too much with current gen stuff even tho its still relevant
well you can compare it, that's the whole reason i suggested it in the first placel ol
it suffered compared to a 5600x
yea but if you went for a 5600x you'd be way over budget
the point of using the lga2011 and 2011v3 platform these days is because of the really good value (and still good performance)
true an x99 is still good
($70) for the cpu e5 2690 10 cores is awesome
actually the 2690v2 goes for around 65 bucks now
imo the 2697v3 is a better value, but then there's the question of the DRAM and board being a bit more expensive too for the generally the same quality
wouldnt 12000 series make 11400 cheaper or is it being scalped
11400 is being scalped but only in the us Β―_(γ)_/Β―
Alr I need some help. Cleaned my friends pc for the first time in a year, took it outside, sprayed with some compressed air, and wiped down the exterior surfaces, nothing special, didn't take out any components. Now it's not working. At first it would boot up, but it would freeze on the desktop and eventually "blue screen" and restart. After a couple times of that it stopped booting into windows, it was saying something like the boot drive was in the wrong order. So I took it home and started testing things. Gpu, ram, psu, ssd all work when separated from the system. All I have left is the mobo and cpu which I don't exactly have a nice way of testing especially because his board doesn't have debug leds. Does anyone have any ideas of what may of happened?
For reference, the cpu is a 3600 on an asus b450m prime
A cable might have come loose
I've checked every cable already lol
Reseated everything besides the cpu too
Think its worth the hassle to reseat the cpu?
I've seen that happen sometimes with severely dusty systems. The dust causes a short, but not a catastrophic one, but it damages the route the electricity was supposed to take. Then once the dust is gone, it just stops working.
Guessing you've done cmos clear?
Yes sir
That would be quite the strike of luck lol
Try booting into a Linux live distro on USB
Linux is very good about telling you what's wrong instead of just crying in the corner like windows
I've never ventured into the Linux realm so that would take me a little bit to figure that out lol
It's no more difficult than making a windows install usb
Even involves less steps lol
Alright ig that's where I'll be headed next after I reassemble it lol
Ubuntu is an open source software operating system that runs from the desktop, to the cloud, to all your internet connected things.
mmmmm linux
Building π·ββοΈ essentials lol
@potent portal had a bit of a delay lol but I've booted into Ubuntu via USB. Could you direct me what I should be looking at?
It booted with no visible errors?
In that case, the issue is with your windows install
When I turned it on it sent me to advanced recovery options, which i clicked boot from usb and loaded into Linux with no problems
That's good news then, it's not hardware. How old is this pc?
One year
Had to reinstall windows the first month as well for a different issue
I'm gonna boot it off another installation of windows brb
Happened to me when I mixed ram kits
That weren't compatible
Yea sooooo
It booted
Lol
Thank God it wasn't hardware
And ty for your help
Gonna reinstall windows tmr and I should be good
I still have absolutely no idea how cleaning it is what triggered whatever happened
But at least I have a plan now
I'm thinking the cmos battery might be going out, so when you disconnected the power it partially cleared the cmos
So then boot settings could have gotten corrupted
So is that something I should replace?
If it's actually the problem, yes
It's a basic cr2032 coin battery
You can test if it's the problem by changing one setting in bios to different from default and saving it. Then you unplug the computer and hold the power button 60 seconds, turn it back on and see if the setting changed.
Alr sounds good. I'll finish that off tomorrow. Thanks again for all the help!
What discounts?
for every thing in newegg hehe
Discounts on newegg are usually on the page of the item, but they have a black Friday gaurantee at the moment, so if you buy something now and it gets discounted on black Friday you'll get cash back for the difference between the price you bought and the black Friday price a few weeks after black Friday
ok thanks
No problemo
@void lantern #build-pics message
ngl, that rack is sick. but it can definitely be cable managed
Yeah for sure, my cable management is sad rn
Is one of my projects
Update on my build: I done goofed the motherboard, so I had to get it repaired.
I got the no display problem.
So now once that is fixed by ASUS, my build is all wired and done.
I got a question
I what should a good prebuilt contain at a price of 1300-1700
I am trying to go for a intel build because I am programming and idk if ryzen is the best at it
so not really a gaming pc?
Doesn't matter if intel or amd full stop unless you're using some niche engineering software
Are you in the us?
Well what country are you in then?
Ro
Romania?
Yes
ye
Ehh what sites are there for tech in Romania?
Not a lot lol , 2 of them and one is owned by the other one bad part is that the smaller one wich is owned by the bigger one has bad policy
So I can only use 1
It's called Emag
Okay
Is this budget in lei?
Yes
Ohh
I got from 5500 to 7500 that is my budget
Like I could go to 8500 in a special case
Ye lol one of my old mates had one for 1000 lei and it struggled to run chrome
I found like 14 of them that I like
Can I send you ss in dms?
@little osprey I'd go with https://www.emag.ro/sistem-desktop-pc-gaming-serioux-powered-by-asus-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-10400f-pana-la-4-30ghz-16gb-ddr4-500gb-ssd-m-2-pcie-geforcer-rtx-3060-12gb-gddr6-no-os-srx-5949088514124/pd/DPTGGPMBM/ or https://www.emag.ro/sistem-pc-intel-core-i5-10400f-ram-16gb-nvidia-geforce-rtx-3060ti-ssd-512gb-windows-10-pro-6735/pd/DBC9RPMBM/ or https://www.emag.ro/sistem-desktop-gaming-grt-senior-best-led-cu-procesor-intelr-coretm-i5-10400f-pana-la-4-30ghz-16gb-ddr4-1tb-hdd-480gb-ssd-geforcer-rtx-3060-ti-8gb-gddr6-sen10400rtx3060ti16g1t480gled/pd/D833PDMBM/
Thanks bro
Np
They are all great except the last 2 are sold by some sketchy mf
Could you look over the ss I send you , those are sold by the actual emag
@little osprey i filtered by delivered by emag? I'm using the translated version of the site, is that the same thing?
Just chrome doing it for me
:)
The case isn't as good and it's not as good value as the 3060 one
But yeah better gpu
I would also love to use it for mining when I am not using it
@fossil cedar thanks for that one , I might but that one bc it has great specs
No problem :)
hm

π€
@wide sparrow this is not general
π
How is this for a 3700x? https://www.newegg.com/gigabyte-b550-gaming-x/p/N82E16813145212
Should be grand
Yo so I have a very general issue cause I don't really know what the main issue is π basically I just feel like my PC is underperforming for what it is because I have friends with worse setups running games on higher settings that are better.
This is my build
Is there a way to check it?
Are you running xmp?
On your ram
I think so?
A quick way to tell if you're performing as expected is to run a time spy test
If you boot into bios real quick, we can check
Aight gimme a minute
A-XMP is on
Where's that again?
Can you send a pic of ths bios screen?
You can get the demo version on steam, 3dmark
Wow that's pretty low voltage if its doing 3600 c14
If it's c16, that's more expected
I mightve put the wrong ram in the pcpartpicker?
The one you have on pcpp is g.skill 3200 c16
That's way better memory then
Well if it ain't broke...
I ran a benchmark and it says I'm in the 44th percentile for my parts π¬
I feel like I have it good though, I have good cooling and everything so IDK what the problem could be
Especially gpu drivers
Yeah gpu are up to date
Check every week
What do you have running on startup?
I mean precision boost overdrive will help but i mean, what cpu score and what gpu score did you get?
It was userbenchmark LMAO I forgot all the rest
I'll do another, which should I do?
Userbenchmark is a joke
Yeah I'm aware of that
Ohh god
3d mark demo on Steam
Then that benchmark means literally nothing
Yeah figured
I cannot find the demo
I click the search option it brings me to the paid lmao
Go to the 3d mark, paid page, on the page, there's a button for demo
On the right side
Bottom right
Underneath your Friend
Download demo
God how could I miss that
It kinda blends in tbf
We have all been there
Ok well while that downloads
Is there any really obvious thing I could find that is causing any performance issues?
Nothing that's obvious, maybe startup items like rgb software
Yuh
Icue cough cough xD
Theres like 3 things that open on startup
1 is closest to cpu and 4 is farthest away
yah yah
I mean pbo will help, but what makes you think the pc was under performing in the first place?
A VR game blade and sorcery, my friend with a 1660 super gets higher frames on higher graphics than me
and the game is overall kinda like "stuttery"
all games are, its not literally stutters
It just doesnt feel smooth
(not my monitor i dont think)
Same settingss etc tho?
Also just make sure that your gpu doesn't have it's power cables pigtailed
Ie using different cords for each 8 pin
i got 1 cord with 2 8 pins
Dont do that
Thats what it came with π
There's definitely more than 1 8 pin cord in a phanteks amp psu
I built it in 2019 if theres more I probably lost it tbh
What gpu he got
just says waiting for power table
Yeah
Run the legacy one
Not open, but I have it installed
And causing this
I don't see it anywhere in task manager
Click that arrow
Bottom right
Itll be in there
It aint there surprisingly
Running timespy one sec
Your getting expected results for your components, my best guess is it could just be an Nvidia sponsored title, hence Nvidia cards would be favoured, but if you want to have a bit of extra cpu performance you can turn on precision boost overdrive(pbo)
Where would I turn that on then
If you go into the bios, then overclocking tab usually
depends on if they have stuff open rn, my 3600 gets over 7k
stock
They most likely do, and they might have an earlier release 3600
yeah that 3600 score is low even for stock
but the 5700xt score looks good
very good even, must be oced
@upper condor do you have any motherboard oc "features" enabled btw? Also what cooler does your cpu have?
U12s, no oc features
Oh yeah that should be fine, hmm, was there much open in your task tray?
14 things lol
That would probably cause the difference yeah
consider reducing the number of background tasks you're running
you're losing 10% or more cpu performance from your background tasks
@upper condor
what are you running?
get rid of them then
go to the startup tab of task manager and disable stuff that you don't regularly use
example on my laptop
you'll get better boot time and lose less cpu performance
see how my last boot was only 7.1 sec
Just for now, I moved my stock corsair 4000d fan to to the top. should it be facing into the case or out?
top exhaust
out
the back part with the frame and motor should be on top
and the fan blades should be on bottom
random image for example
Okay thank you so much, first pc build
intel uhd graphics is good, right?
well
as far as igpus go that is
...which one? lol
ah
G1 is not very good
the number after G refers to the graphics capabilities
1, 4, or 7
my gf's old laptop had the slightly better i5-1035g1 with 12gb dual channel ram
and would average 60 fps in league with occasional frame drops to 3
so you can draw your own conclusions from that
the i3-1005g1 has less than half the cpu power and lower clocked igpu
and is extremely unlikely to come with more than 8gb ram
anyways, it's really not something you'd want to game on
don't be misled by the 32 EUs - UHD 750 also has 32 EUs, but it's the newer 11th gen igpu on a better architecture and clocked significantly higher
Time Spy Graphics:
Iris Plus Graphics G7 (64 EU @ 1.1GHz): 745
UHD G1 (32 EU @ 1.1GHz): 421
11th gen UHD (32 EU @ 1.45GHz): 743
3060Ti (stock): ~12,000
Iris XE is where itβs at Intel iGPU wise
hey quick question is the usb 3.0 cable always going to be plugged in? I cant seem to find a slot for it
On a asus tuf B550-Plus wifi motherboard
if you're talking about the USB 3.p header on a mobo
yea
it will be
you have to plug it in yourself, of course
Does anyone know how I can check my performance on my laptop
of what part
I pre-ordered 12900k and rog strix white mobo . Only thing left is white rams
should i go for a 10100 or a 10100f with a gpu
No big difference
hmm k
Integrated graphics is actually nice thing
yeeee
It lasts for testing system or you can do things if your gpu fails
Then get 10100 one
diff is 40$ lol
that's kinda big for what's only a 100$ cpu to begin with
im tired of pentinum
i had enough of it
oof, not enough budget to go to the 10400f though?
quite a bit more performance, and I think it goes on newegg for 170
let me check
180 I guess
noooooooooooooo
it's only 30 bucks above the 10100
NO
Did any white ddr5 ram popped up π€
hasn't come up on Newegg yet
I'm sure there will be a buttload of DDR5 ram variants coming out in the near future
Either right before or at the time of the Intel release, Newegg will probably be flooded with DDR5 listings.
If not a few weeks after.
it's pretty hilarious
regardless of the fact that we know little to nothing about alder lake
some of the DDR5 kits and cpus are sold out just for pre-orders
The Asus Maximus MB was sold out within seconds.
there's no way I would buy alder lake until I figure out how the processors actually perform in unbiased benchmarks
and if DDR5 actually offers a big advantage over DDR4
for the price DDR5 is going at it better
Honestly, I'm going for it, but only because I have that PC building itch and if nothing else, I end up with a Minecraft server to mess around with until I get bored of it either way. I'm not really convinced of the performance uplift over the last gen, but I honestly have nothing better to do right now.
I'm not even thirty and feel like I'm going through a midlife crisis.
Went all in with the 12900k. Have to wait for the Asus board to come back into stock, and then I'll see what DDR5 kits launch on release. After I get everything I'll need in, I'll get to building and testing.
I'm going to need to rearrange my setup a bit afterwards though. Two hefty desktops are going to take up a lot of space.
Honestly, I'm curious to see how that ends up working with the scheduling.
Most stuff that's getting active updates will be able to just set what type of core should run it by default, and legacy stuff should default to p-cores unless you specify otherwise.
So, every AV software company with intrusive popups will set their software to run on performance cores by default.

eh
Efficiency cores aren't super weak ya know
Gracemont cores has skylake perf stock
Yeah the e-cores are about as good as 10th gen cores, but more power efficient
That was more of a joke towards AV software wasting computing resources than anything negative towards efficiency cores.
Pfft, fair
Anyhow, I'm sure with this tech. Intel mobile will be even better in efficiency
Yeah that's where things are the most exciting, battery life should go up a lot in theory
Just gotta pray scheduling works correctly
Android doesn't have any problem tbh, so I doubt ms will mess it up with win 11
The scheduling accuracy is what I'm wanting to see the most. I usually have more low power background tasks running than I realize when I'm tinkering around with different things.
I haven't heard of any real issues so far except apps not being updated to support the new scheduler yet
Old games will have a problem ngl
But then again they already have issues with modern cpus as is
Old games I'd just use thread director and assign to e-cores, should be plenty powerful for the old stuff
Some games just freak out with multi core cpus
But yeah, that's definitely doable
im looking into getting second pc as streaming pc i can stream just fine with my pc rn but i rather have a pc just for streaming for more fps but but i also want laptop if i get a good laptop as streaming pc do yall think it would be just as good as a ok pc
the laptop im looking at has a ryzen 5900 and 3070
@turbid panther im not being rude here by any means but you play val and csgo, whatever you stream on should have more than enough fps
If you have an nvidia gpu and set obs to use nvenc, there's very minimal fps impact
ya it is but i love fps and the more the better even though i wont noticed a difference but still id use the laptop for things outside of streaming for my company but still i just want a streaming pc bc why tf not its cool asf π
ya i have that but i still notice some frame drop in game even tho i have a decently good pc
If that's what you're set on then yes, that laptop should more than handle streaming
Everyone's streaming nowadays when I'm just trying to go back to the good old days of having your own physical Minecraft server. π
tfw local server
Hey if you do it right local MC server for you and some friends is easy and fun
big link momento
yes
i just use hamachi and force my friends to wait for me to be online lol
ight thank yall
But you can just get external ones imo
ya but if its in pc then i dont have to worry about it somewhere on desk
fair
Honestly, I've actually run a MC server off a laptop before, just to see how it would handle it.
Hmm, I wonder how that compares to cheaper xeon...
my brother runs on a 1500x
I think after I get the 12th gen system built, I may try my hand at building a couple of small budget PC's.
Personally I like building budget PCs more than high end stuff, you have to get more creative
It handles mc server fine
Well until we tried doing some wacky stuff
A fox spawner with lightning switch
Hmm...maybe I'll turn my linux box into a server. Once I actually sit down and learn how to use linux of course
It's easier than you think, most everything has a gui these days
I'm only doing the 12th gen build because I have an itch to do an overkill build and there's lots of new stuff to test. I always enjoy building though, so I may start doing budget builds for fun.
Yeah, I know, I just haven't actually bothered trying to use Linux. I basically just installed a distro, forced a Hyper 212 EVO onto the CPU and walked away
Which is another thing I need to do, finish removing the grating on the side panel and slapping a mesh cover onto the hole
you going for that 6400c36 ddr5 kit too?
I'll wait for 8000 kits once binning gets more mature personally, I don't like the thought of having a jedec speed kit
if you want to go really over the top
grab the 6400c36 kit now and upgrade later lol
6400c36 might be jedec speed but it's a lot tighter than jedec timings
it's also the current highest jedec speed
Ur the current highest jedec speed

i almost got tempted to buy some b-die just now
saw a really nice looking kit for $235 shipped
Do it
Forky judged the crap outta ggood over that kit
Its not a great kit
You can get a kit of 4400c17 stuff for just a little more
And thats gonna be more quality
well it was below retail price
Fair
Ggood paid 300$ for that kit
so if value is the only problem then i don't see the problem on a used deal
Yeah that was the only problem forky had
well yeah, b-die is b-die
it's a decently high bin
should have no problem hitting that 3800c14 sweet spot with just a little more voltage
dunno how hard it would be to tighten those primaries to flat 14s but it's a dual rank kit
looks are subjective but it looks beautiful to me
lol why did they use an intel stock cooler in the marketing image tho
who buys $270 b-die to pair with an intel stock cooler LOL
I actually have an intel stock cooler you know
Intel cryo cooler unlocked
dude
speaking of stacked coolers on a 3600
i saw someone with an icegiant thermosiphon on a 3600
LOL
like why
Higher pbo boost clocks smhhh
as if pbo is even recommended to use on late sample 3600s
Dont you talk about my cpu like that
i think most late sample 3600s get all core oc higher than boost clock +200 right?
i mean your cpu is degraded by 1usmus
Yeah frik that fartbrain
So am I wrong for thinking in a Nzxt h510 it's better to just replace the outtakes with better fans and not have intake?
It works off negative pressure don't it?
No
H510 will still suck cause its intake is blocked off
It barely has any vents for intake lol
If you remove intake fans, it's gonna be choking airflow even harder
From multiple YouTube channels and Nzxt themselves
Still the case sucks, it's no lie
The negative pressure pulls from the bottom of the GPU
I wouldn't buy such case unless I'm so into the looks I guess
Yea ofc it does. But I still ain't had a problem so I'll go to fractal when I do
I was super broke when I bought it. I think that's the appeal. Looks good, super cheap
Well-
The thing is, H510 is more expensive than other better cases
Provided the thing isn't on heavy sale that is
I should add I'm Canadian
Everything is ALOT more expensive here. A lian LI which I wanted is like $500
Shouldn't matter much ngl even in different currency
Hi pato
Idk where you are looking but for the price of a h510 you could get a mx300 g air or a metallic gear neo air, or for a bit more you can get a p400a or a p360a, lian lis o11d should be around 200 cad
Hello
As long as there isn't any major overclocking going on, the H510 can be alright. I've used one. They're a pain to keep clean with a negative pressure setup though.
Honestly though, to anyone that can spend a bit more and is set on NZXT, I'd suggest the H710.
No that's not the disclaimer, as long as there's low end parts in the h510 its fine
But there's better options for the price
Ew no that's even worse
Like 200$ and performs barely better
It actually performs surprisingly better.
That's why I included "set on NZXT."
Nah you just gotta convert them
Honestly, besides the same bad customer service I've gotten with any manufacturer, NZXT hasn't been any worse to me than anyone else over the years. People will buy what they buy. As long as they aren't buying a H510 for an i9 or upper Ryzen build, I'll let them do them.
If they cross that line though, they're beyond saving.
I mean good customer support doesnt make a crap product less crap
NZXT and Razer products are far too overpriced for what they are
Money better spent on better internals
I won't argue that they aren't overpriced. They definitely are.
I mean even an i5 3000 series gpu is too much for a h510 and it will sound like it's about to take off if you want decent temps
True true
At least razer have some decent mice
Im talking pc internals
Ahh ye
Nzxt doesnt have mice
I never had that issue when I used a H510.
Yet.....
Making them better price to perf
What specs where in it?
I5 and 1660 or something
i5 7400 and an OC'ed 1660.
Yep figures
Well that's why lol
Why does no one post in #build-pics
TBH I wouldnt put over a 500W psu in a 510
You had a 4 core 4 thread cpu and a 1660 in there
Well, duh, it was a cheap build.
Whatever components can run off the 500W psu are fine

So how u expect to have the problem that pato said
But it's not even a good cheap case, you can get 60$ decent mesh cases
Where u do i5 and 3000 gpu
Even high end 2000 series
Why would you ever put a 3000 in there?
Ask kenzie
I blocked Kenzie for a reason.

Might as well set the 3090 on fire.
I wouldn't put a 3000 series card in anything without at least dual sided intake if the front panel isn't just open.
11900k and 3090
Which makes it a lot worse
And people wonder why we can't have nice things.
Refuses to do a thermal pad/ backplate swap
Isn't Kenzie borderline broke by his own admission too? It seems like there could've been a much more reasonable build to be had.
NZXT giving away fire hazards instead of selling them now. Wow.
You will have something do your steak on lol
Dont want their warehouses to burn down π
I had a mate wich had NZXT amd this man would cassually put his food to warm up
Yes but only some can get you steak at medium fast
If you give it 2 min it could get you a well done
I enjoy NZXT's aesthetic for their H series cases, besides the elite variants, but their decision making skills suck and they've yet to decision a case in the H series with optimal airflow.
I was joking but seriusly now nzxt ventilation sucks
That is what I am saying bro
Nzxt stuff is nice to look at but thats where it ends
If they added a perforated front panel to the H710 and either expanded the top space or offset the bracket a little more, it actually wouldn't be a bad case, besides the price.
There's no saving the H510 though.
And the nzxt h710 is not worth it for 200 dollars. Youβre better of getting a Lian Li case then. (Nzxt is overpriced same with razer)
That's why I said "besides the price."
An h510 costs 100 dollars on their website, youβre better of getting a Lian Li Lancool 205 mesh
As I said before, the H510 is beyond saving. The only reason to use one is if you already had one laying around. They're alright just toss low to mid-range hardware in and that's about it.
3090 for 8 usd
Ohh really i thought they bought it lol
The h510 elite is beyond saving, h510 just requires a dremel
xD
I don't know why they thought the elite variant was a good idea when airflow was what was already suffering the most.
People dont know that air canβt flow through glass/tempered glass
Ez, just drill holes in the glass
It was a joke my guy
How would you even go about drilling holes in glass
Small pilot bit to make an indent in the glass, then just go at a low-medium speed with lubricant
But you need a specific bit for it
Or you could get a corsair 4000x and save money xD
hi
Guys is the nvidia GeForce MX series laptop GPU good for gaming
Like lite games
MX150 all the way to 350 are 1030 perf if they're 25w versions
Gtx or rtx is what you want for gaming
MX450 is like above 1050
If it's 25w
Light games? Just go with Zen 2/3 laptop ngl
Ok
Ok thx
@fresh garden Hi no one reply
Go DM NeweggService if you have questions about individual orders and such
I pre-ordered asus rog strix z690 and 12900k but cant find good ram for it
And still no idea about cooling
Is there any way to connect old cooler to new chip π€
@void lantern nice rack π
Lol
There's some coolers you can adapt but coolers are starting to come with lga 1700, I'd say arctic would be probs pretty good at doing that
As for ram I'd wait a few days, seems like most ram will be coming out in next coming days/launch day
Ahh fair
If you contact asus they should be able to send you an adaptor
Hmm maybe there will be 3th part adapters around π€
No need tho, asus already have a 360 ryujin 2 with a lga 1700
Go contact them for the bracket then
Let me try
Designed in Austria, Noctua's premium cooling components are renowned for their superb quietness, exceptional performance and thoroughgoing quality.
As much as noctua is great, i think a 12900k is gonna need the 360 rad lol
Yea I wish there was a Noctua of AIOs
Arctic support doesn't really cut it
Well actually
We'll have to see if they'll ship the lga1700 brackets free, but they do offer
The mounting sets will be available in the ARCTIC web shop for a service fee of 5,99β¬, and customers will receive the set completely free of charge upon presentation of a corresponding processor purchase receipt.
So you can get for free when you show 12th gen receipt? Or buy for 6β¬
Appears so
Noice
Asus said they still not shipping anything so rip
Thatβs actually not a bad price assuming 900 CAD
I have 3070 Strix
But I dont know what case to go with it
Motherboard and cpu and things like that
could you guyus help me choose the rest of the build
Whatβs the budget for everything else?
And Iβm assuming youβre just planning to game?
so like 2000
For everything except the GPU?
Do you have a microcenter by you?
And RGB yes or no?
Do you want wifi?
Iβd do something like this
@fossil cedar Opinions? $1000 for everything except GPU. GPU is 3070, just for gaming, he wants wifi and RGB
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VvXzBc I'd do this
Or b550 gaming edge WiFi if they want nicer board
Pro vdh wifi for cheaper board
Yeah that too
Hey, can an old computer be recycled into a private server?
Not like a home theater, but more like a VPS.
You could totally do that, you just need the right programs
@jagged hill nice cpu
where do I buy it?
I've always wanted my PC to be powered by the void
I actually use a 30 dollar wifi card and it works super well
i use both an internal and external together
works well
Wait, Wi-Fi adapters stack?
yeah
as far as i can tell
wow
$30 is already premium lol
$30 gets you a card with intel ax200 wifi 6 and a heatsink
what more do you need
$8 USB wifi dongle is doing great on my mining rig with stable connection quality and ping
no
he just got a better adapter
you can't just SLI wifi adapters to make them faster
I'm sure that would be horrible for latency since they'd have to talk to each other all the time
best gaming prebuilt you can get for $1000?
My friend is looking for one in that tight of a budget
nice find
concerning psu though
might be worth an upgrade, psu upgrade not too hard
oh yeah
prolly thermaltake yeah
or could be even worse
lol
but otherwise that system is CRACKED for the price
1k prebuilts these days usually looking at a 1660 super if lucky
2060 gets you that nice dlss support
ooh nice the ssd is nvme so psu upgrade won't even have to deal with sata
@small tinsel https://www.newegg.com/corsair-tx-m-series-tx550m-550w/p/N82E16817139210 consider having your friend upgrade the power supply in that prebuilt to this
insanely good price right now and it's a much better unit
psu upgrade is not hard
except plugging stuff in
i mean
it's cpu power, 24 pin, and single pcie 8 pin
you don't have to do any of the fan cables or case cables
lol
no sata drive
idk ive never had a problem with it even in the crappiest $20 cases
in my first build i even routed it the wrong way and it still made it
lol
it hurts to look at
lolll why did you go in front of the mobo
because it was my first build and i didn't know what i was doing
but it stlil wasn't too much of a stretch
get cheap extensions then
i can tell
oof
I forgot the I/O shield on my first build lmao
no
yeah i figured that wouldnβt be too great
it's the stock fans for that case, i did not touch them
both generic non rgb corsair fans
the only rgb was the ram
and now... lol
lol
I wanna watch this πΏ
why is it all red
lol
i had just unplugged them
since that was right before i redid my cable management
what
nothing got deleted
i dont even think i have a picture of my first build anymore
just know my first build was an fx chip
also what is the process to submit a mod ban ticket?
well i can look at this one without getting a disease
yeah
im gonna get a right angle usb3 and maybe cable extensions at some point for at least pcie and 24 pin
yeah i cant see your cpu power lol
you gonna go for red and black extensions?
or just red?
or maybe you could even use white as an accent
Maybe
Not gonna go white probably
Prolly just black and red yeah
Yeah you have to be looking pretty hard to spot eps power
this compatible wit ha 1050 ti CORRECT ?!
show us which 1050ti you have, or the back of the 1050ti if you are unsure of the model
most of them should have DVI though i think
or are you trying to connect to a DVI monitor using HDMI port on the 1050ti
My dad found a PC for 36 bucks on an auction site in the same city as my bro's new house. It doesn't seem to be particularly old, but he told me I can do whatever I want with my second build. I've considered selling it once I paint the side panel.
Since I am mostly working with accumulated parts from the year, I only spent $25 on a 500W PSU, $50 on 16GB RAM, 75 for an AMD Athlon 3000G (comes with a souped-up cooler and heat sink apparently), 40 for a Rosewill ATX Midtower with pre-installed fans.
I managed to get away with spending a measly 190 bucks for a "budget" PC, before the GPU.
You sure that PSU isn't gonna go π₯?
Not always but when price is starting to get that low it could
It would normally be more like 50 to 60.
Maybe then
It is also new.
EVGA 500 W1, 80+ WHITE 500W Power Supply( 100-W1-0500-KR)
Hmm I'll check it one sec
and RAM DDR4 RAM 16GB (8GBx2) 3200MHz (PC4 25600)
Looks like that PSU sits at low priority d tier
what's priority
Like sub par for d tier
Can be due to minor issues or whatnot
Or could be due to not enough testing on it
Yeah for 55 it's def a rip off
do chassis have tier lists?
Idk
i would hope it's just an aesthetic thing
TEST POST WORK IN PROGRESS, DO NOT USE YET Welcome to the Case Tier List. Credit to @SavageNeo @boggy77 A computer case, also known as a computer chassis, tower, system unit, or cabinet, is the enclosure that contains most of the components of a personal computer (usually excluding the display, k...
looks like they do
is it a design tier list?
if anything the tiers should be S A B C, with D being retro
looks like pricing, build quality
not taking diy painting potential into acct
okay
but i guess i could sell my upcoming build for like 400 and survive
i technically lose money based on parts i bought earlier
hey everyone, got any idea when parts will come back??
when supply comes back
^
190 from recent buys + 75 for that b450 that came back from msi + 25 for a 240gb ssd + 20 for a pci bluetooth card = 310 to make, so 420 can work as a nice sale price for the building labor
as well as taking custom painting into account
W1 might've been the one that burned
i'm probably gonna paint something... fitting for a "data" motif
maybe a flashy digimon art piece
Lemme find source
Found it I think
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=60jVEwq44ZU
The EVGA 500W will have a tough time delivering full load at areas with 115V input because its bridge rectifier is not bolted on a heatsink. According to the specs, this bridge rectifier cannot exceed 3A at 100 degrees Celsius without a heatsink. (https://pdf1.alldatasheet.com/datasheet-pdf/view/263282/HY/GBU1006.html)
π Model number: EVGA 500W...
oh no
evga white units are big no
@stoic island is that w1 GR or nah?
W1 is only GR afaik
there is the dvi on the 1050ti
they compatible ?!
50 dollar shipping kek
they should work
pascal has only dvi-d
and hdmi and dvi-d is digital
so conversion between two is easy
it work?
yep
wth
whelp that's bad then
that's basically 59 bucks for a crap psu
yeah lol
i think companies like that hope you throw it in your cart, dont notice shipping when you do, then hope you order your whole pc there and dont notice the $50 shipping just for the psu
smart tactic tbh
scummy, but smart
yep
Thatβs how they get you with those free watch sales you see on insta all the time
Has anyone used a heatsink for their M.2 drives? If so, which would you recommend? I noticed my motherboard has 2 sockets one has a heatsink the other doesn't.
unless you have a p5 or a hot gen 4 drive, you probably dont even need a heatsink for either drive
doesn't hurt
but yeah depends on the drive
want some overkill?
i honestly want this product just for the sheer ridiculousness of it
when do we get the black version with rgb fan?
Hey guys. Rebuilding my pc. Question. I have a aorus Rtx 3070. But I have been getting black screens on my tests. I have pcie cables that are 8 pin to the psu and theyβre 6+2 to the gpu side. Is that the problem? I have all the latest drivers. Unsure as to what it might be.
Remove the gpu and put it back in
I have
Diy rgb strips
The after and before of my basic lian li build
That would be n1, i have 2 w1 units in my house running for years lol
why does this build look so good
Yes that's nice feature
But i was just crying at corsair dominator ram because look at those prices https://pcpartpicker.com/product/f7KcCJ/corsair-dominator-platinum-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr4-3200-memory-cmt32gx4m2c3200c16
That's a cheap kit of it
40$ premium over better rgb ram ;-;
Buy it and OC your drive
Smh pato thats because it dominates over ur wallet
lol ocing the controller until my gen 4 drive becomes gen 5
up next: m.2 ssd LN pots
Im still waiting on my very special order from Australia to complete my build
I mean, we do have pcie 5.0 m.2 slots now
I keep wondering if there's ever gonna be a SATA 4, or if we'll switch to like internal USB Type-C since USB 3.2 Gen2 is already faster than SATA by a large margin and can deliver power along with data.
Best LGA 1700 mobo for under 450?
sata 4 doesn't have a real reason to exist
we have nvme for consumers and SAS for higher speed 2.5" enterprise drives
sata 2 still isn't a bottleneck for top end hard drives
why are you buying a mobo that costs almost as much as your gpu π
Gud question tbh
Cause I wanna switch to Intel
I feel like your current pairing is balanced enough
It doesn't need to be 450 I would like it to be under that
might as well wait until ddr5 is more mature and do a full platform upgrade
I would agree but my cpu has been funky lately which is why I was considering switching
i7-14700K + RTX 5070 + some better ddr5

man, those numbers are weird to look at
Fr
funky how so?
Alright so
- In task manager it claims the cpu is always on unless pc is restarted even though I shut it down daily
- I believe it's been a bit slower than usual
I'm gonna be honest I don't even know what that is
check if you have fast boot enabled
But I haven't updated bios since I built the pc
if so, disable it
Okay I will definitely check that
if you don't know what it is, you don't have it
Nice
it's very noticeable
was a big issue that made quite a few people switch to intel lol
Tbh it might be nice to wait a few years than upgrade gpu, cpu, & ram
luckily I never got it
Damn
all your USB devices just drop
Oh wow
like the PC stops recognizing them
That's horrible
including keyboard and mouse
How do you even fix that
yeah that's a "I'm breaking this damn computer with a bat" moment LOL
latest bios + agesa fixes
Makes sense
but yeah you have a decent system I wouldn't rush to upgrade to first gen ddr5
I'm debating when to upgrade to win11 on my main pc
I was originally gonna wait like 3ish months but might wait 5 because I don't wanna crap anything
