That ideas out the window then
Probs no delivery to australia
where do you live?
australia
Aus
But some newegg pcs ship to aussie
Someone here was utilizing that the other day
mhm
3800c14 is good btw
australian
on my rams
Pog
I'm looking at the site you're looking at, thr same pc. Don't buy that, it's not only overpriced but uses awful parts
Your budget is 1300 aud?
That mobo is prolly cheap asf
yeah
Yes
hm
:/
Ehat would you think of a newer apu build till you can find a gpu to throw in it?
Depending on how bad the shortages are there hopefully you could find a 3400g or similar apu for close to msrp and make a build around that
Id say 5600g but I'd bet those are being scalped to heaven and back
not too sure
nahh
they fine stock wise
Even in aus?
@coarse mesa https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/4jFBwz something like this probs
Everywhere
Oh cool
Thanks Ill keep that saved for now
That's better than any pre built you'll find for that range
Do you think you'd be comfortable building one yourself?
I'd have a look at some pre builts but don't have time to hunt for them atm
It's how it is rn sadly
Silicon shortage, pandemic doesn't help
perfect time for my pc to completely die
graphics driver crashed alert while it was in sleep mode, i need a new pc fast
Yeah you'll want a 16 series or better then
but i need good multitasking and stable recording
Warzones min reccomended gpu is 1650
yea
yeah i5 10400 and 11400f are pretty much what im set on for cpu
10400 is more than enough
I have the amd equivelant of a 10400 paired with my 3060 ti
nice
well thanks for your help, really appreciated but i gotta jump off, have a good one
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8f9sqp any revisions to this? note that this is for a vtuber streamer's pc, so it should be quiet, and be able to handle a vtuber avatar, streaming, and gameplay at the same time. (they were going between the 3070 ti and 3070, but i told them to go for the 3070)
I'd go with a b550 and a different ssd imo
any specific mobo recommendations? or ssds?
The gpu price is terrible
Western blue
And a b550 f gaming WiFi mobo
Check ssd buying guide in pins in storage channel
As for mobo I'm not 100% sure, but b550s tend to have better vrms. B550 f I believe is up there with the ones to go for
There's not much you can get for $500. Are you in the us?
Wait
Oh
Bruh
You don't have to give anyone crap to help you
One sec
I'll find a link
Are you gaming?
Are you comfortable with building one yourself?
Or having someone build it for you ig
It'll be more balanced and higher quality
@little osprey
Sick
@fossil cedar you happen to have a parts list for a 5k budget?
Should be, a lot of people do, but assuming you have throw away money you could just pay someone to build it
Whichever you want
@frank stirrup you happen to have one?
I dont know psus/cases enough to give a complete parts list
a 5k build?
Yeah
what do you intend to use it for?
I was gonna just grab an abs build but they seemed to be less worth it for 3090 builds
The only decent priced one I saw had 10850k and no reason for a 5k budget
Are they playing competitively?
Nah they keep asking for 240hz but they are still doing esports games
Bruh
@little osprey
the 3090 is just a placeholder
buy whatever 3090 you can get ur hands on

Nice
For gaming/streaming 3080 ti 5900x
Australia!! Not us but yeah not great but ye
Ehhh western digitap blue ssds are sata
@little osprey are you sure?
Is this good bang for the buck
Nope
ye
2%
but more heat
And much hotter
cause gddr6x
That's meh, you can get 3060 ti for 400$ less
3060 ti is like 10% worse than 3070 ti
@fossil cedar not rn
No prebuilts in stock
Still waiting a month I just check everyday
Imagine if I wait till cyber Monday and everything is out by then🥱
I gave 3 options yesterday
Well i mean newegg have a black friday garuntee if you buy now
More money gonna need to be spent then worth
Fair nough
Is the i7 11700 nice?
It's decent yeah
They don't make a lot of 24 inch 1440p displays, at least not many good ones. There was 27 inch ones I gave though.
.
They have money but not much knowledge of pcs
they scalped 2 3080tis and kept a third
It's a 95% chance they can't tell the difference between 120 and 240
But just get a 27" one
M27q is like 180hz
Close nough xD
M27Q is the budget king though, there are better, more expensive displays
It's... 3 inches bigger diagonal
Well I stand by what I said, there's no good 24 inch 1440p 240+Hz monitor
I tried convincing them
24" 1080p 240hz 👌 , 1440p 240hz 24"
Saying 4k is useless on 24 inches
Then they're gonna have a bad time
And 240hz is iffy for 24 inches
Unless they sit bang in front of their monitor like 30cm away 27" fits nicely in their view
and the reply they came up with is “sure i’ll get a 240hz 1400p 24-25 inch”
bruh
Mmhm
Pain
I use a 1080p curved I think 24in
Mr unlimited budget should upgrade his desk if he can't fit a 27 inch monitor
Maybe 22in
Curved 💀
Yeah, lol
It's not a huge curve
Was a 140$ aoc monitor 165hz so good price
Let me find the link one sec
It's gone way up in price
Goes up every time I check it
The amount of curve isn’t what im worried about
Not the best monitor but I could've bought worse considering I didn't know anything lmao
It’s that it is curved in the first place and VA panel
Sadge
My first monitor was 1080p 27in 75hz
IPS
Sorry, I still don't know a ton about monitors
Whats wrong with that?
My first monitor was a 60hz 1050p lmao
Awful color accuracy on it too
My first monitor was a CRT :)))
I tried ocing my 1440p 75hz monitor
If I coulda hit 90 I'd use it for my main monitor
Couldn't even do 76 kek
My main I can oc to 170 but no point
This one right here
Wait so was there a good 240hz 1440p 24 inch
My other side is the 1050p monitor, never tried ocing it and never will
Or should i just send the 27 inch ones
Doesn't exist
Alright
Maybe I should try to oc mine
768p 60hz
Definitely will work
Not free
Laptop battery go brrrrrrrrrr
"I paid for the whole screen, imma use the whole screen"
ah anyonne wanna help me?
so i found this guy on facebook marketplace
selling 2 computers

yall think its a good deal?
i changed the currency btw
Oh what country you in?

:/
Idk market there really, maybe someone else here does
welp living in israel sucks for yet another reason.... what a supprise
The 2nd one for 620 is decent
Ohh if Israel the 1st decent too then
just- just tell me if its a good price ._.
For the market in the US, theyre meh. Most other places, good
damn
Id go for whichever better fits your needs/ budget
first time i wanna live in the gun&cheeseburger place
im buying one for me and one for my brother
:>
Then yeah they're not the worst I've seen
Probably on the better side of prices there I'd imagine
yeah....
My family is
ah
welp as someone who grew next to people who cant eat cheeseburgers
all i can tell you is
im so sorry for you mere existence
being jewish SUCKS
Wdym?
buy maybe that has nothinnng to do with being jewish
I will never let anyone shame me into being ashamed of my ancestors
I know
D:
in all honesty
if you do go for it and do your aliyha
or however you say it in english
good luck with memorizing all that stuff
it was hard
i had a short one cuz of my birthdate
and i still had to remember about 35 lines
Aliyah is when you move to Israel
Bar mitzvah is what you're thinking about
It's fine lmao, I know how annoying different languages can be
in hebrew you could also say "aliyah la tora"
Ah
so i got confused
My dad lived on a kibbutz for a couple years
I think 4
Moved there when he was 17 I think, maybe 18
im living in one
I just did 🙃 they both decent
every now and than its fun goinng to a city with friends but more parties over here :D
i love you.
We all love pato
Np lol
One of the only stories I remember my dad telling me is a spider bigger than his hand fell out of a tree onto his head
wot
the spiders here are smol af
i mean
Maybe I'm remembering wrong then
i see like 4 black widows a year
Idk it was a while ago
but everyhing here is smol
So I'm prolly remembering wrong
welp
biggest spider i ever saw here was the thin once that makes webs and just look scary
Anyways, good luck with those pcs and enjoy gaming with your brother
thin legs and almost no body
thanks :D
Is it even worth to get the M27Q still
Scam ?
ye
Where the mod lol
on their way
@wide sparrow ^
mm
Finally got my wifi card in, and I even managed to install it without having to ask how! Even better, didn't break anything!!! 😄
although I did get scared, my pc couldn't find bootable drives at first, so I just powered off and started up again then it worked
much
I now can play stuff like league on 55ping instead of 98 😄
What wifi card?
^
Ax200 drivers will be from Intel
EDUP WiFi 6 Card AX 3000Mbps PCIe Network Card with Bluetooth 5.1 & Heat Sink AX200 802.11AX 2.4Ghz/5.8Ghz Wireless PCI Express Wi-Fi Adapters Dual Band Antenna for Windows 10 64-bit
AX200
there ya go
Ye
I tried doing it through device manager and it didn't find any newer updates
am I good then, or does that not show all of them?
yeah get the ones from here
download and install
On installation, windows usually automatically gets you a driver that allows it to work, but you'll usually want to update it again as windows usually pulls older drivers
😮
almost no help
these are the only ones available
What the
the top one is what I want?
Wait
Yea that specific link should work, I'm confused on why the screenshot is missing that specific option though
lol
indeed very strange
anything I need to change in here? or good to go?
already turned off the "shut this off to save power" thing
you can keep that on
also you just needed to install the drivers
no it isnt
oh
why the 9700k so expensive
@hybrid briar also why u buying windows for so expensive
a windows key cost that much
no
and the 9700k idk why its so much i thought that was standard price
im so confused are you telling me the cpu is 10 dollars
hell no its not
yes you do
you have to buy the os system
i also got all the bells and whistles etc
bologna
i bought mine directly from windows
for 100 bucks
and it came with like microsoft office home or whatever
oh
and some other random stuff
im looking here these "cheap keys" are a lot of the time not legit
and its legit
okay then
Quick question where the smart build people at
I have a cooler master 850w gold plus PSU from 2014.currently upgrading GPU CPU SSD AND MOBO. And ram. Do I need a new PSU or is this one sufficient
2014 sounds kinda sus but idrk. the watts are fine tho
Keep in mind capacitors lose capacitance over time
So keep that in mind as a reason if you do run into issues
It'll also depend on what GPU you're upgrading to
Older PSU might also have tripping issues
Idk it’s never had issues.
Upgrading to 3060 TI
computer has never ran under a full load or for too longer
Long**
Ampere does spike quite high in terms of power draw
Yeah but 850 w should be more than enough right? I know it’s like 6-7 years old… should I just try without upgrading PSU like would it be harmful to do that?
It's just capacitor aging, if it's worn out enough, it could be at 50% of the capacitance it was supposed to be.
That kinda thing
What are the cons. Like would it just go out? Fry my GPU? What
Well. . . Worst case it blows up maybe, protections prob can't take into account deterioration over time, it might just overheat, but I doubt old tt smart has otp, so it wouldn't shut itself off that way
It's just eh, the model is kinda bad
I don't really want to trust the protections on a 7 year old tt smart
Wait
Not tt smart
I'm blind
@teal musk what PSU is it?
It should be okay then, protections should kick in if anything does go wrong
Awesome THANK YOU been standing around Best Buy for a minute lmao
It's also 10 year warranty afaik, so you can also go yell at Coolermaster if anything goes wrong, and they should be able to refund and/or help you
It's either 7 year or 10 year actually, might've misread
But you're welcome
It's really a seasonic unit rebranded by CM
Any quick tips on copying my OS and uploading on new computer parts?
I know I could probably google it but I have a feeling you’d be more quick and to the point
If you're planning on swapping windows from one drive to another, I'd reccomend just installing windows fresh as the best option, but if you really wanted to just copy everything over, macrium reflect can be useful.
Fresh install windows can be helpful with random crappy issues that have popped up on your old windows install over time, it also helps with you being able to see what you actually need to install and what's practically just bloatware you installed at one point and never used again
But also, windows doesn't really like being directly copied over from one drive to another (weird issues can pop up), there's also just random weird registery things
You can always copy over the actual files you want after clean installing windows too
Sorry shoulda been more specific. I want a fresh install just need to copy my license ?
You can also link it to your Microsoft account and activate it that way
ok
First one
I think there are still better options, I'll check in a bit
11700 can be actually worse than the 10700
And 3070 ti is definitely worth $200 more than 3060 ti
Really? I don’t see much
My budget is 1600-1800
It’s 10600 I think
Tbh depends on the cooler more but yea
But that’s surprising
I was referring to the second one having the 11700f
It's close to the same performance chip
Yeah, it depends on what you're doing with it but sometimes it's 5% better sometimes 5% worse
The 3070 ti is only 8 GB tho
So? That's enough for 4k gaming
.....?
Oh it is?
I don't see why "only 8 gb" would be an issue
I just see 16 GB typically next to all the 3060 ones so I’m used to it
Yes, don't let the GPU companies tell you that you need more because right now you don't
16gb would be system memory
3060 has lower memory bandwidth
3060 non-ti is 12gb
I meant ti yeah
So where do you guys see better ones in Newegg
But bigger memory bus
I filter from lowest price to see and don’t see that many options below 1800$
I think this went out of stock within the last few minutes >:(

Awesome@thanks @stoic island
Corsair Carbide 175R RGB Mid-Tower ATX PC
Cooler Master MWE 550W Bronze V2 Single
Intel Core i5-10400F 2.9GHz
ASUS GeForce GTX 1660 Overclocked 6GB
Corsair Vengeance LPX 8GB (2x4GB) DDR4 2400MHz
MSI MAG B460M Bazooka Gaming Motherboard
all for 1348 AUD which is like 1k USD
Thoughts?
anything not work?
I'd get a better memory kit and maybe power supply if i were you
I'd suggest a 16gb kit of 3200MT/s memory, or if you're sure you only need 8gb, then an 8gb kit at 3200
memory is not really a priority for me
and that can easily be changed later but this is already pushing my budget
get 11400f
you know... if budget is the main concern, you could always go the x79 or x99 route :)
@coarse mesa
What games are you planning on playing with that 1660?
That you only intend on using a maximum of 8gb of ram.
minesweeper
crysis
What do you mean turning off? The entire PC just shuts off and doesn't start up on its own? Or is it power cycling?
Tetris.
I'll do one better, "world hardest game".
pinball
does anyone have any alternates to a 3060 ti or when it might restock somewhere
Do you prefer Nvidia?
Or would you not mind amd?
yeah i would prefer it but if its the only option i dont mind too much
Well you can always keep trying to get a 3060ti.
It's ultimately up to you.
You can look at some AMD alternatives, but they also may not be in stocks as you may know.
Do you currently have a previous gen GPU?
Use that as a place holder and keep trying to get the 3060ti.
no im trying to start a first build and it seems i chose the worst time to do so 💀
Ok.
So I would say, just keep looking everywhere.
For the card that you prefer, it also depends on luck, and of you are ready when the cards are in stocks at that moment.
yeah im hoping that they possibly restock in November, if not i'll wait and see in the new year but try look everywhere
you could start by building a pc with integrated graphics
and then upgrade later
a lot of people took that approach
Yea or that.
yeah i might consider that as well thank you
ok people I have a ROG STRIX 3060TI OC V2 I have a budget build thanks to @potent portal and @hearty pumice and others, now im going the other way (for research purposes...
) now im on the hunt for the ultimate overclocking machine no budget involved GO CRAZY!!! thanks in advance
Ooh those are always fun. Everyone always has different ideas for an all out build.
Yeah I'm having a lot of fun talking with people, I have a feeling its going to cost me lol but totally worth it
Well for an ultimate gaming OC experience you'd want the 11900k, and that alone is the cost of the budget pc we did before lol
Yeah i knew it would cost me hahaha 🃏
main games
valorant gta warzone and stuff

is this a prebuilt
b460 won't let that ram run at 3000
single fan gpu in that small case is going to get hot and loud
no
didn't I tell you earlier to avoid b460
if it's not a prebuilt then don't get b460
what motherboard should i replace it with that supports all those other specs?
one within the same price range
@coarse mesa what country you in?
better to run caseless for a while than buy b460
Australia
case is an optional component
Yeah I am but that's not an option for me
why not
@coarse mesa use this as a base https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/4jFBwz
its just not, i'll need a case
Pc part picker <<<< wall of text
lmao
this rig has been like this for what 6 months now?
it's chillin
getting a b560 board is worth it
save up and get a case later
what's that have that the b460 doesnt?
the ability to run >2666 ram
I'm not too concerned with fast RAM
like I said, anywhere between 10-40% more performance with the same cpu and ram on b560
mhm
those are way to expensive though
the motherboard i listed goes for 88 bucks including postage
65 usd
why are you buying parts from the us
It turns a 10400 to basically a ryzen 3 3100
$65 is overpriced for b460
yeah but that's 11 bucks more than the 70 bucks im already over 0_o
found a b560 board for 95 aud
link?
that one's garbage
just look at the vrm heatsinks
oh wait... there are none
Yeah ik
Originally recommended the bazooka cuz it's 110$ which is
yeah
Nice find, but before sale they were scalping that board
if another $7 isn't worth getting that much more performance out of your rig when you play cpu bound games
then idk what to tell you
might as well buy a tamagotchi
- 16 postage
I play it on 1600mhz
rn
sigh
indeed
just go do whatever you want then lol
I'm clearly wasting my time here
I'm going to sleep
have fun
enjoy sleeping and sorry lmao
lol playing it on my laptop with 2133mhz ram
ayo whos buying from jw
my friends uncle works there said he will give discounts
2nd one
Is open box risky??
depending on the product but for the most part no its not risky
at most youll probably be missing a manual or some other form of paperwork
I mean I was just surprised seeing a 3070 build under 1700$
Wanted to buy and make sure I wasn’t ripped off
There is also this
750W compared to the other 650W
Second one. 11th gen i7 is same or worse than 10th gen i7
It actually has a Gammax cooler and the other only has rgb Cooler
Bacca there is a third one too
Can you check that out for me
650w is fine for a 3070 and i7
Compared to the second one
The third looks like it is mesh front cover I’m not sure
Yes that's mesh
And it has deepcool cpu cooler
With still rgb fans
No peripherals or warranty with these but I’m sure it’s fine
Idk, the first of these two has better case cooling and a worse cpu cooler, second one has better cpu cooler and worse case cooling. I'd prolly throw an extra fan or two in and get the second (third) one
Also the first one doesn't say a model of 3070 so you could end up with a ventus or smthn
Oh wait
Nah it's a bit better just not worth the retail price
Ah
Yeah I'd prolly go with the third one, what do you you pato?
From the picture it's still a crappy down draft cooler, you'll want to stick a gammaxx 400/gt or vetroo v5 or id cooling se 224xt on it instead
Ohh this one best
Don't mind this thought you were talking about the glass front ones
This one v good, insta buy imo
Mkay
Whatever pato says I agree with
Yeah I didn’t see that till I dug deeper
Big smart
I think they restocked open box today
They weren’t here yesterday
Open box for that is trustworthy @fossil cedar ?
Imo yeah
Yes
Anyone else buy open box abs
Wouldn't be sold if it was broken
Pog
Pog
Yeah it’s too add the Asus flair
Tbh I like the design
Got enough cooling anyway
It's a velcro strap you can take off
^
afaik decent amount of reports of being quite hot and/or overheating but yaknow
taking side panel off helps
the one with tuf case has a tower cooler
my room is cold I’m fine
😂
I’m just happy to be done searching
Appreciate y’all’s help
hi
Hi
how are you
Fine, Need help with something?
no
Really? It's mesh case and has a gammaxx 400 on the 10700
Should be fine
Yea?
those things happen, and well, perhaps it was 10700 no pl, but can't remember tbh
Doesn't it come with a stock cooler? And best and cheapest don't go together
I had been lead to believe that the stock cooler is basically useless
Stock cooler is rated to I believe cool it enough so it doesn't throttle, but I could be wrong
thanks, I guess that should be sufficient
well, it'll get loud and it'll boost lower than it otherwise would
prob the usual se-224-xt/vetroo v5/gammaxx 400 reccomendation
I am very budget limited, but in general should I just save longer and go for a 5600X build?
gtx 980, but I do a lot other than gaming
what board
uh, so do you have 10400f yet...?
no, I'm trying to figure out what I should do for my build
if you live near a MC a lot more fun options do come into play
so the 10700f over 5600X?
I mean, cad, depends on the program, but 8 cores can help
sweet sounds good, kinda nice that I can stay with good old intel for a while as well
Yeah, just seems unlikely i saw a review of that exact pc and it performed average temps wise
Id cooling se 224xt/vetroo v5/gammaxx 400/gte if other 2 are more expensive by much/not available in your country
stuff like inventor, only some tasks are multithreaded
https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/inventor-products/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Support-for-multi-core-processors.html
Intels stock coolers aren't very good
yeah, I use autodesk inventor and fusion pretty often
If what you do isn't multithreaded, use 5600x
Not if you're very budget limited
Ahh nvm
it's kinda a thing where, yes, I have a minimum wage job, but I also don't want to upgrade every year or two
Didn't see rest of convo yet
You already got the gpu? Or is it being carried forward btw?
I do not yet have the gpu, but I intend to get it before the rest of the system
basically I'm just waiting for a better showing on ebay
Fair enough
nothing a chainsaw can't fix
Or just nondestructively remove side panel, but that's no fun
boring
personalize it by carving your initials into the front
👍
i feel like removing the side panel defeats the purpose of the case though
isn't the case there to protect the pc
👁️
might as well open bench
Aight give me a second alberto
Hey! Probably a long shot but I’m looking for a good 3070-80 prebuilt with a budget of around 2500USD. any advice/link/etc. ? thank you ❤️
Hm
Yeah I couldn't find a cheaper 3080 build by abs, i think 10900k is unnecessary but it's the cheapest in stock so 🤷
Also it was that for the 3070 build or a 10700kf and 3070 for 100$ more
Vs 10600k and 3070 ti
I wouldnt know
I recommend these since they have mesh front panels instead of a solid front panel
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali514-gladiator/p/N82E16883360114R
This is better than the 3080 build I found
Better balanced
And price/performance i believe

Maybe when I upgrade second pc
Hello. I am a beginner WRT mini PCs. Trying now to buy a barebones one on NewEgg and have questions. Called manufacturer twice and they hang up on me both times without answering questions. Hoping someone here can help. NewEgg chat sent me because they don't have answers either.
Main question is this: I am looking for a small personal computer. I look at this: https://www.newegg.com/asrock-4x4-box-v1000m/p/N82E16856158065 - All ready to buy it, however I am not sure if it has a cable to connect my SSD, or do I need to buy a cable. I called ASRock to ask, and they tell me that machine is a SERVER not a personal PC. So** WHAT** is the Difference?
I don't want to buy the wrong machine.
It has M.2 ports for SSDs, they require no cables
I have a SSD for it.
Servers aren't that different from standard PCs
no cables, plugs directly into the motherboard
your existing SSD may not work with it
is your existing SSD a big plastic rectangle larger than a credit card
cause that won't fit
It's a 2.5" one
M.2s plug right into the motherboard
Theyre a version of ssds
Tend to be faster and a bit more expensive
The "product specs" says it has 1 x 2.5" HDD/SSD
They tell me the machine is a SERVER and not personal PC. So WHAT is the Difference?
No monitor, no OS and no DE probably. ||(I don't know what I'm talking about)||
I have monitor, plan to use linux and don't know what DE means.
It does indeed say sata 3 port, it's probably like a laptop then where it still doesn't need a cable
Desktop Environment. If you are planning to use Linux, then that's good for you then.
I think.
maybe.
it's got integrated graphics
you can use it as a personal PC no problem
the only problem would be if it was intended to be a headless server
and didn't have any display outputs
You'll need to buy some so-dimm laptop memory if you get that computer too
but it does
should be fine for daily work use
don't expect to do anything heavier like video editing very quickly
it'll be doable but not amazing
To be honest, $300 for a small PC with three-monitor output doesn't sound like a bad deal at all.
And a vesa mount so it attaches directly to monitor
Not very powerful but for the intended purpose it doesn't need to be
One of the reviewers says it runs well with Linux.... my only remaining hesitancy is that if I happen to need any tech support I will probably have to call those surly guys who hung up on me. All I did was ask them to speak more slowly so I could understand them. They yelled at me and said "To us, YOU have a heavy accent and YOU are hard to understand".
newegg can also support via emails, no? If you have a thick accent, noisy phone lines may not be the best way to get support maybe.
outsourced tech support
I don't have an accent if your native language is US English.
oof
These guys sounded like maybe Japanese, Korean or Chinese. I couldn't tell. Not East Indian or Filipino.
Well, there's always us. Plenty of people here can guide you through 9/10 problems.
People here literally guided me to build my first PC from scratch.
Yes, but only after I get it up and running. 9/10 chance the only problems I will have will be setting it up.
I do not have or use a "smart phone".
I mean, you can grab a cheap camera and take pictures maybe?
I have built desktop PCs and repaired laptops. Never had a "mini" PC before.
They're basically the same as laptops in a smaller form factor
What I mean is that I won't be able to get on discord until I have it up and running. All I have now is a dead laptop. I am at a friend's house using his computer to buy a new machine.
I would have never guessed that till you told us that.
Was thinking of buying this to go with it: https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-16gb-260-pin-ddr4-so-dimm/p/N82E16820232155
Well chances are the only issue you'll have is how to make an install USB
The "memory finder" on NewEgg doesn't work for this so I am not sure it will be the right thing.
An install USB means Linux on a flash drive, right?
Linux.... how many are there?
Too many to count
Most people start with something Debian based like Ubuntu and Pop
What's the difference?
User experience and interface mostly
Both have decent app stores that will have just about any kind of software you'll need
what is it that you would never have guessed until I told you?
that I don't use a smart phone?
Well you said "I have built desktop PCs and repaired laptops.", so I had assumed that you had a Desktop PC or a laptop already.
Is there a point to get a z590 for a i7-10700f?
OIC. Yes, I have an 11-year-old Toshiba Satellite but the power button is shot and I can't turn it on. I have a new power button waiting to be installed but I'm afraid I'll goof it up.
It seems to be held on with glue not sauter, but I don't know what kind of glue to get.
Well, 100% chance pl unlocked, also b560s that can handle a 10700 unlocked pl is like same price/10$ more for a z490/z59p
And potentially other features like more M.2 slots, but not anything most people will use
Yeah but like look at this 10$ more and atx (and cheaper than the other atx b560s )
Ignoring the asrock one cuz well yano
So, I'm thinking about making a VR-Ready Budget Gaming PC for my little brother. And I was thinking about passing down my AMD Ryzen 5 3600 that I've built and used for the past year (thanks to everyone here! #build-pics message ) to my younger brother.
Do you think this is an okay build for Budget VR Gaming?
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/KawaneRio/saved/#view=8xFz6h
(note: I'm not getting NVIDIA GPUs for religious reasons)
What's wrong with ASRock Motherboards…?
Power limit issues on Intel
I don't support proprietary drivers.
In that case its honestly would be worth getting a z490 for less then $10.
everything is wrong with asrock z590 phantom gaming
oh I thought you actually meant religious
Z590 actually cheaper lol https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mgstt6/msi-z590-a-pro-atx-lga1200-motherboard-z590-a-pro here
*cheaper.
Even more worth it.
eleventh commandment: THOU SHALT PURCHASE RX 6900 XT
With 10th gen cpu
Yeah Z490 would be fine, probably about the same price as B560 and still unlocked
anyways it's a fine build for the budget, rx 580 may not be good enough for some VR games though
VR games tend to be even more sensitive to frame drops than regular games
Agreed, 580 is getting up in years
Is asrock B450M a good fit with AMD Ryzen 5 3600 (assuming manufacture had updated their BIOS to support 3rd gen)?
it's fine
Rx 580 destroys performance in some titles.
Whats your budget, also unless you're on linux i wouldn't worry about nvidias driver support, especially when they are cheaper than the awful scalped aib cards (excluding the 6900xt and the founders edition cards)
keep in mine vr headsets are typically at higher resolutions
and that's a 4gb single fan 580
Yes.
By destroys I mean not good.
