the board has 8+4, the cable from the PSU should be a 8 pin that can split to 4+4, you should plug the 4+4 into just the 8 pin on the board

You could go cheaper on the SSD. The 980 is good but the difference in load times between that and the P31 gold are about 1 second.

Most people don't really need more than the budget tier drives. Anything faster won't make any significant change in load and boot times.

All I’m going to be doing is gaming, so I reckon the mp400 is a good choice
