which one u had
Model
...how
11700k?
10700kf
rip, no igpu
11700k
Ouch
you tried single stick of ram already right?
Just what did you do lmao
Should just do single stick of ram in slot 2 and clear cmos and then boot
did you spell gamer sweat into your cpu socket while building or what
Might as well
no clue. it froze up so i was like "eh, just restart it." it came back on and immedietley shut off. after a couple seconds it just popped, sparked, and starting smoking
He did, the chats in #old-monitors-and-tv
rip
...are you sure it was the cpu?
could have been mobo
whole cpu chip is a crisp
cpu is one of the least likely parts to suffer a catastrophic failure
Reason: Bad word usage
still, mobo could have cooked it
any pic
true true
So am I just screwed
i'd replace both mobo and cpu
@marble flume no, do more debugging
mobo is one of the easiest parts to fail
Clear CMOS for you
What does that mean@stoic island
but most importantly
plug your gpu into a known good rig and check if it's still alive
gpu dying in 2021 =
i havent checked that yet, rip
Could we get some pics of the mobo and the cpu Forestry
Battery method best method
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
if your mobo had a power surge, the integrity of all of your parts are unknown until tested
i stg it took me 9 months to get a 3070 ti for a good deal
thank you friend i need them
oh yeah for sure
@hybrid briar
not home currently, but when i get a pic ill try to dm you
didnt he say his cpu was literal charcoal lol
surge protector should be enough unless you live somewhere with frequent thunderstorms and/or low quality power grid
Pog
UPS is good if the latter two apply to you
ill send mobo tho, it looks fine tbh last i checked but
good point
was the socket black aswell or just the cpu
Also gives you some battery backup incase the lights go out… you can save what ur doing and shut down instead of losing it all
i hope no one took the trash out at my place lol
Reason: Bad word usage
no i saw logs lol
MEE6 is dum
fried was not what tripped the bot
what did i say
wut
Autocorrect to other f word?
the first word was excrement
@stoic island should I do battery method or jumper? Are both as effective?
Lmfaooo
Battery
until i got used to it
I have been kicked once
the warnings don't actually do anything unless you do it way too often
like 10 times in 2 hours?
Thats mobo
@frank stirrup should I put the ssd back in then?
oh '
I did it 5 times in a aweek and got kik
no
Nah
just eliminate all variables
boot with the minimum possible
only the things actually needed to boot
that's why i told you to remove all usb besides keyboard as well
variables
alr boys, gonna hit the rack. night
My latest trip of the swear word was completely for laughs tho lmao
good night, good luck
ty i need it
Good luck mate
Mate
I hate small phone keeb
Grrrr
one of my close friends bought a razer mouse (this was long ago) and at the time of connecting it up to his PC, it literally would not boot
most people would be surprised at what can prevent a boot
yeah
i actually didnt even know that storage devices could prevent boots
until u guys mentioned it
cold boot moment
literally anything connected to the pc can cause no boot
like any part
i swear i learn somethin new everyday bcause of this server
lol
it can be a faulty wire, gpu, ssd, ram, mobo, external device, bad hdmi or display cable
literally anything can cause ur pc to not boot
noted
heck it can be ur pc case thats touching the mobo and shorting omething out
off-topic: ive contacted nzxt customer support like 2 days ago and still havent gotten any response from them like tf
nzxt bad
nzxt is bad
reason is because i wanted to ask them why they changed the pinouts / shapes on their 4+4 EPS connector
@analog pulsar
why tag kenzie

looks like he loves nzxt
kenzie = nzxt simp
ik this
she*
...
u confused me i was like no.. hes a guy
?
im here
oh no
Ppl are bad mouthing nzxt
no.
ik i am

its not bad mouthing if its true
i wanted to ask them why they changed the pinouts / shapes on their 4+4 EPS connector cause i bought a C650
@analog pulsar
do u want a pic ?
you could contack nzxt
u see
sure send a pic so i can see what yout saying
i did 2 days ago and they havent responded
hm
there is the nzxt discord 🤢
if you not gunna be helpful you can go
we dont need your "oh nzxt is bad crap"
this
@frank stirrup I clear the cmos and I'm still getting the boot led

@little osprey would you like an invite to there server to get help with the power supply
im not 100% sure about there power supplys
@flint sapphire any other ideas
what about it
normally every eps connector should be exactly like this but for some reason nzxt decided not to do
@little osprey
yes
Sprout is much more knowledgeable then me. I got nothing @marble flume
@little osprey thats normal
they are both the same
the pic just has them connected
i doint see a shape change
@earnest olive I cleared the cmos and still get nothing but the boot led
Like they were saying it could be a faulty motherboard or gpu
its not crap if its true
seems that you just have a defective part then
Or something
Ok but what part is defective
I dont care its not helpful for the convo
now for the least fun part of pc building
you have to figure out what part is defective
no way of knowing unless you have another pc
do you have any friends with PC parts you could borrow?
He’s got no spare parts
I've got a new ssd card but that's the only spare part I have
The last 4 pin one has rounded edges, there should be at least 2 square shapes
TIME TO RMA THINGS 1 BY 1!
Its NOT an ssd card.
its JUST SSD
the thing ur thinking of is an sd card
Or *NVMe ssd
@little osprey wait are ytou saying your cpu pins dont look the same
Ok
pretty much
ah could you send a pic in dms
sure thing
I just noticed the mobo I'm working on has a PCI slot
the z170?
yeah
super cool lol
Is there any way to troubleshoot parts without replacing them
test one by one
How so
pcie gen 5 right?

get a working pc and throw a part in 1 by one until it no workey
Ok
yeah PCI definitely runs at PCIe 5.0 speeds
or try basic things like 1 stick of ram and stuff in current pc

yes
Or throw working parts at the not working pc 1 by1 till it works
we've done all of the troubleshooting
sad

so they need basically friends pc?
Def start with the mobo though
because cpu is most likely good since fans spin
@earnest olive the last time my pc did fans spin but no boot, pcie kept defaulting to gen 4 and my GPU DID NOT like that lmao
putting it in the other pcie slot fixed my problem
wait but rawr doesnt changing ur gpu to another pcie slot aside from the first one equate to lower bandwith>?
better than not booting
you can just set the top slot to gen 3 manually
and then switch back
ok okay
but you need to be able to get into bios to do that
yes but I only put it there long enough to force gen 3 on the 16x slot
Anyone able to help me out with a build problem I’m having?
not unless you can tell us what the problem is
I just got a new CPU and motherboard. Rison seven 5800 X and an MSI b 550 gaming plus. Got the bios update flashed to the motherboard and when I go to boot it the computer does not get past the boot debug led. I have tried with no drives installed as well as with my boot drive plugged in to the motherboard however, neither of those worked
@frank stirrup
Hmm
ram in slots 2 and 4?
did you flash the correct bios
did it go through properly?
only thing i can do to help is that i know that you need to rename your bios update file to a .bin file i think and thats about it
bin is the file type
not name
true
are you sure the bios flash was successful
try flashing it again I believe the file name needs to be MSI.ROM
fat 32 pendrive
yep
fat32 mbr
and it needs to be the specific USB port labelled for bios flash
I went through all that. Did it multiple times and this was the only one where it got past the cpu debug led
idk I have a headache
ouch go sleep
I'm almost done with the ram oc
SLEEP
testing RTLs/IOLs now
intel system?
ye
makes sens
damn thats some way too advanced shi for me, i only know of frequency and cl timing lol
exactly y i asked
but so far it's working
I always go idiot mode
tightening multiple timings at once in an attempt to save time
so far it has backfired once
but been an overall time save
i did most of my terts at once
Ignor the timings i havent had time to do most timings again
die?
wtf is that
all ram related values
man
just seeing the 20s in the xmp profile my expectations were immediately low
ouch
what frequency u running?
it's not so bad
i suspect board is a limiting factor for the frequency
3333 is the highest i can post at any timings
however i wasn't able to get 3333 stable at c15 so i decided to go 3200c15
u overclocking? i just realized
...yes
my bad
it's a low end z170 board so trace quality is probably not the best
z170 was the first gen to support ddr4 at all
this performance is already quite good
for such a budget system
last time i checked aida latency was 43ns
how much was mobo
woww
not too bad
43ns is respectable
its an asrock z170 board
it's asus
asrock timing configurator is just the default software to view ram timings for all intel
nope
works on my msi laptop
Ahh my bad
it's like msi afterburner working with pretty much all graphics cards
also man why do you hate asrock so much
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0876HBFVC/ hey is this mobo good for a i5-10600K
is for one of my builds
yeah asrock is not bad lel
ehh it's a bit overpriced
can get away with a z490-a pro easily
but if you like the features of that board sure
ok okay reason i was asking is i want a good price
I dont really
its a meme
amd asrock boards pretty nais
and older intel boards
did you know
this board was actually 169 like a week ago
asrock was the only manufacturer pushing for zen 3 on x370 mobos and actually got it working until they received a cease and desist from AMD
why
to this day, some x370 boards are flashable to an asrock b450 bios that supports zen 3
so put some respect on asrock smh
Why did amd hit em with a cease and desist tho?
asrock has always been known to do wacky stuff
cause amd want money bro
makes sense
asrock wanted to support their x370 boards to the end of the socket
amd said no
make them buy new chipset
asrock is too cool for amd
asrock was also the primary vendor working to enable 8th and 9th gen compatibility on Z170/Z270
on the bios side
until they were told to stop
money™
o i was looking at some rog boards on amazon for my 10600k why are they so overpriced?
it feels like asrock actually cares about their users
ik but they used to be cheaper last year hm
asrock software support is
yee
Wanted a asrock x570 taichi
brother got me a x570 msi carbon pro bs
any recommendations for motherboards for lga1200 under 200usd
for which cpu tho
10600K
lemme take a look
anyways i think this is fair market value for the components of this build
thoughts?
seems fair enough
7700K is delidded and ram is oc to 3200c15
how the hel is the msi z590 a pro cheaper than the 490
i guess get the z590
z590 is fine if it's good price
i guess
still works with the cpu
yeah thats good
i had a great time ocing 10700K on z490-a pro
solid boards
the vrms are good enough
alr guys well i appreciate ur help but ima hit the hay gn
https://hwbot.org/submission/4710415_sips_bleach_seductively_cpu_frequency_core_i7_10700k_5502.7_mhz
anyone smell burning?
gn
before i go i would like to say that i would like to cool a cpu with liquid nitrogen
alr gn
I’m trying to reflash to the first compatible bios and see what happens
prebuilt?
@wispy walrus
yeah
This is a good psu right? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08PDZQZN2/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glc_fabc_48PFF1GPT099T4XAD74R
yeah
so is that cpu better that a ryzen 7 3700x?
much better
intel 11th gen compares closely to 5000 series counterparts up to the 11700K <> 5800X
above that intel stops being able to compete
but for your needs intel is fine
not for long 😏
its rumored intels 12600k will beat a 5800x in literally everything, even multicore, for like $270
Rumor mill go!
yes
PROBABLY not for long
hopefully
its amd's choice to release new generations of products every 2 years
while intel does it every year
its pretty fair still imo
what?
2017: kaby lake, zen 1
2018: coffee lake, zen+
2019: coffee lake r, zen 2
2020: comet lake, zen 3
2021: rocket lake, possibly zen 3 vcache?
2022: alder lake, zen 3 vcache and zen 4
what am I missing here
wait is amd 6k series coming out q4 2021/q1 2022?
we don't know
hmm
Hmm some interesting Lisa su gifs
that's like saying radeon is garbage because 3080 came out when they only had 5700xt
people compare 3080 to 6800xt, not 5700xt
ig we will have to wait then
i expect alder lake to be a great product
and if 6k series doenst come out i will simp for alder lake
but saying they have reached parity with or defeated amd can only be seen once there is an actual same gen comparison
vcache is practically a new gen worth of performance
yeah
and that's only meant to be a refresh
we know cache does great things
like we can really see what happened when amd gimped cache on 5k "G" series lol
where the pins going
Hello, does this part list look acceptable, or is there anything I should change?
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/8F4Qmk
budget?
3060ti is INSANELY overpriced
ebay has them for cheaper
left column is what I've already bought, right column is what I haven't bought yet
bad value cpu
what would be better choices?
buy a 11400
I wanted a 3070, but it'll be hard to get
and a b560 board
also dont buy that 3060ti
its way too overpriced
case looks overpriced as well
yea, that's a standin gpu
not the actual one i'm getting just an example
in aud btw
so, why the 11400 over a 3600?
ah yea, I made the mistake of buying the case before everything else
but, I've got it so
more perf less cost
i don't know as much about intel as amd's marketing system but i'll look into it
what motherboard would you recommend with it?
any particular model of b560?
thinking around roughly 200 aud, can go a bit higher on the motherboard
that looks good!
anyone here that can put together some specs for me seperatly
I'll buy that instead then haha, looks like a bargain
I started looking into a pc about 6 months ago, so I haven't kept up with all the latest haha
you mean...make a list for a pc build?
@little osprey yes
sure
currency?
AUD
budget: 1.6k
and i want a i7-10700kf, 1660ti and 16gb cl16 3600mhz ram in it
pls make it on a website in australia like: mwave, newegg, scorptec and etc
PCPP will utalize those Australian websites
^
you can add a PSU on it because i am kinda clueless on PSUs
oh ok
https://au.pcpartpicker.com/list/cNYC7X
here is the list
well it went over the budget but it was mostly due to CPU & GPU
you could save up on mobo though
also ye
i just went with 750 to be safe
@little osprey is there any other motherboard that is less expensive
Could go MATX
@scenic turret can u link me it
there is
but that mobo i put in is with overclock in mind
what was the budget
that z490 is like a decent board for overclocking your chip
I hate everything about this
that is why it is there
you can awlays go with the b440
thanks
Rawr wanna take a shot
ye all g
Also why a i7 10700kf
he wanted a 10700kf
why is there no pc case
10700kf is completely unnecessary imo
there isn't one?
bruh
i am stupid
What’s the best 1440p monitor? Ping me
i realy want the i7-10700kf tho
why
now thats way better
are you overclocking?
if not, you can go with cheaper options
i dont know what overclocking is tbh

also imo i would go with rawr list
it is pretty decent for gaming and it will hold somewhat alright for long term
google my dood
Yea nope going over budget with i7 lol
wud that give me beter performance and fps?
fortnite?
it is still capable of it
depends on the game and the chip usually
you might get minimal gains or medium gains
Fortnite cpu intensive
ya
just like going beyond from the factory clock limit
iirc
not exactly but close enuff
what do u think about this:
But again not many people know how to correct overclock. I wouldn't mess with it if you're not sure
i think what we say doesnt matter to you and you want us to tell you that what you are doing is right and that isnt gonna happen.
my m8 sent me these specs jeez
Minimal $1800 for those specs in this current market
i am just sleepy so i can't get better term for it
garbage cooler for tthe cpu
Ikr lol^
Why are you so insistent on the 10700kf? You'll get over 200fps in something like Fortnite with a 11400
Rather go Noctua or Scythe
like abolute crap cooler
what budget cooler then
oof
buy what you want
that is what I recommend tho
Also I would wait if you really want the 10700kf. Going to be two generations older soon and will be on sale later this year after Intel releases 12th gen
im probs gonna wait for the christmas sales
im praying it wud go dow to alt least 1.6k
why do you want the 10700kf so much tho?
guarenteed performance
what?
Not really tbh
i have a mate that has these specs and i like his fps
So? 11400 gud for the same stuff at virtually identical framerates
ye ok i will go for the 11400 if the prices dont go down by christmas
i'm a computer idiot trying to learn and build my next computer. how important is it to worry about cas latency in ram?
depends
amd or intel?
amd
what cpu
5900x
why not go faster?
3800 is the fastest I would go
no guarantee of the cpu running anything higher than that
even the 5900x, which is pretty much on top of cpus?
see the way ryzen works is the flck clock is tied to ram
so if you get 3800mts ram, flck is gonna run at 1900mhz
and flck is what the cpu uses to talk between cores basically
but flck has trouble going over 1900 on ryzen cpus
so if you get faster ram, this flck value might drop to half of ur ram mhz
so you might end up with 4000mts ram which is faster
but flck drops to 1000 which is way way worse than 3800mts ram
its just how ryzen is designed.
thanks for the info! been working hard researching parts
so yeah 3800c14 ram best for amd
my little caveman head has learned so much about computers in the past couple weeks
dont cross 3800 ram
I know how it is lol
yeh im persuing my comp sci degree rn
i was gonna get a new computer, but my friend convinced me to just upgrade what i have until i get a gpu
waited 3 hours at best buy yesterday only to be 10 people short of getting a voucher
the problem with my current computer is my ram is too slow, and my cpu can't handle a motherboard that can handle faster ram
so i guess i'm just building my computer minus the graphics card for now
what do ya mean?
i think i'm ready to buy a motherboard, pcu and ram
do i do it or sleep on it?
hmmmmmmm
want me to take a look at what u planning to buy and give inputs?
if it's not too much out of your way
ultimately i want a 5900x and an rtx 3080
rtx 3080 is a no-go right now
so i can basically build my computer minus that and maybe a couple other parts
i have a gtx 1060. i have in my newegg cart these:
Hmm that mobo lookin a lil inadequate for the cpu
and corsair ram not great
lemme suggest alternatives
why's that? i'm not opposed to spending more, but it has good ratings and is cheap
ugh everyone says something different. goggle and my friend says corsair is #1 in ram
Good ratings yes
but the VRMs on the board arent the best
VRMs are the components that power a cpu
from what i find there's no reason to go expensive on a motherboard, unless there's something i'm missing
Even if that board has great ratings, its not great for ur cpu
for a lower cpu sure
those dont draw a lot of power so no need for great vrms
well then, what do you suggest?
Reason: Duplicated text
uggh
per my friend:
Most Ryzen 3000 CPUs can run the FCLK in synchronous mode (1:1 ratio) up to 1,800 MHz ( DDR4-3600), with very few “gold” samples hitting FLCK 1,900 MHz (DDR4-3800). Ryzen 5000 ups this limit to a little over 2,000 MHz (DDR4-4000), but there is still some variance among samples. Now, according to the Chiphell post, the 1:1 option for the Rocket Lake CPUs appears to be capped at around 1,866 MHz (DDR4-3733), which is essentially on par with the Ryzen 3000 CPUs. This could be an arbitrary limit, since MSI still has not released an official BIOS update for its Z490 mobos.
so he says ddr4 4000 ram would be better
most ryzen 5000 cpus dont hit 2000mhz fclk
he is wrong
he also says intel is better
only liek 5% 5900x cpus can do 2000mhz fclk
till the i5 11600k intel gives btter price to perf vs the 5600x
Intel is more worth at low end
above that amd slaps intel around
he had sent me a comparison, i can try to find it, but says i5 is comparable to the 5900x
11700k and 11900k are just sad garbage waste of sand
LMFAO

Reason: Duplicated text
Too many steves

Most of every test the i5 will get absolutely massacred by a 5900x
Gotta hit level 2
he sent me cpu userbenchmark.com
Before u can post
core i5-11600k vs the ryzen 5900x
Might’ve been looking at the chart backwards
idk what numbers i'm looking at, but they looked comparable
userbenchmark doesnt test anything
it pulls numbers out of its ass
literally its testing methods are absolute garbage
you choose whichever one you like
all are about the same
i'm a computer idiot, i like whatever works and will be good
idk the difference enough to choose one
I favour gigabyte
i hear they're #1 for motherboards
how do you "like" a motherboard vs another?
bios
i get the cpu and graphics card differences
looks
so basically i don't have enough experience to have a preference, huh?
yeh just choose whichever is more visually appealing to you
the gigabyte one is $20 off
that has my jew sense tingling
hey i'm green now
speaking of jew...
Ahahaha
haha yes i'm jewish, i can say that
well now looking at prices and understanding better
is the newegg pc builder worth it?
why this ram as opposed to something comparable but cheaper?
Because it looks cool, and is the most solid kit of ram you can buy
also u can buy the same kit again if you need to upgrade and not worry about it
i'm seeing a g.skill with what i think are the same specs for like over $40 cheaper
since you are guaranteed to get the same bin of ram chips every time
link
you can get that if you dont want rgb
i'm not opposed to rgb, just trying to save some money
i see another from crucial that's another $5 cheaper
what's a better brand?
yeah that's what i saw
i would buy that if you dont want rgb
thank you so much for all the help!
i have a case, keeping my graphics card for now, psu has enough power until i upgrade the graphics card, buying a cpu, motherboard and ram...
anything else i might need?
this one's only $20 more for some rgb
Is it worth it to you, is the question you should ask yourself
Honestly.. things are pretty bad atm.
It’s almost always better to buy a pre built in the current parts economy. Just make sure you’re looking at quality prebuilts. Look into ABS. They make good prebuilts for their pride.
Price.*
Dumb question to ask.
I have an arctic liquid freezer ii 360. The wire connector on the aio goes to cpu_fan1 or pump_fan1?
Cpu fan1, is where I have both mine
cpu cooler
pump
should be on the pump fan

Hmmm, ok.
please
Anyone knows what's this screw call?
its called a screw
Can a tripped breaker ruin a pc?
sometimes
no
is it harm
nah
it's still gonna be ok
okay ty for reply XD
I want to rebuild my PC - I need recommendations for motherboard and processor combo - I am NOT a gamer
What's your budget and use?
And what do you have at the moment?
I am a writer and online instructor (zoom). I use adobe suite to create little videos ... illustrator and photoshop
My budget is mid-range - not cheap but not crazy expensive
I am also completing my dissertation - but I have external hard drives for the backup
Can you give me a number to work around? Cheap is really subjective
I built this system about 8-10 years ago - it is WIN 7
I LOVE IT - but it has aged and I don't want to upgrade it to WIN 10
Wellllllll.... the guy at micro center told me my processor would be too slow to handel the upgrade
There won't be proper driver support for new hardware on windows 7
Ahhh i thought you meant you wanted your new pc to be on Windows 7
No I want to upgrae
Ahh okay
Can you give me a budget?
Cuz cheap to some people is 400$ and to others its 700$ you know?
When I built this system I intentionally added hard drives to store the data
Okay, you can carry those over
I have about $2000 for the total and would like to include new monitors
I use 2 monitors
Woah
and am spoiled by it
That's a crap tun
the monitors are not cheap
You want 2 more new monitors?
so for mother board and processor hopefully $500-$750
You can get great monitors for like 300$ nowadays unless you neeeeed super super accurate colour
You can get a nice big 27" or even 32" monitor for like 300$ each
You would be better off building basically a new pc, and carrying over some of your hard drives btw
So how much would you be looking to spend in total? Budget of 2k??
I agree- the case is ok and the power supply is 750w (as I recall)
I will carry over all of the hard drives and probably reuse the SSD for the OS
I jut replaced the SSD last year with a 1 T
Hmm okay, you might want to almost just leave it as is anyway as a working pc, and sell it on ebay or give it away or something
that is a possibility
it seems like all of the systems at the store are geared toward gaming
The only thing i would bother bringing over is hard drives
I program in SQL and like a "work horse"
Do you want to build the pc yourself or are you looking for a prebuilt?
For a budget of 2k including 2 monitors?
cut my teeth on mainframes and DOS machines
Okay cool 👍
yes that is the budget
Okay you won't need to spend that much, even for a kickass system btw
@sage stump do you have a graphics card in your old system by any chance?
Could you check which one it is?
If you open task manager you should be able to see it in there
ok - under which tab
It is different
Okay so open up device manager instead
my processor is intel i7-3820 3.6 ghz
Oof
that old
Windows 7 didn’t show that stuff in task manager
@fossil cedar remember win+R
dxdiag
Enter
Device manager open?
Easiest way to get system info
Hmm okay thanks
so I guess I need the MB + Processor + graphics card + ram
I currently have 64 gb RAM
probably old and slow like me too!!!
yes
Okay
I want to build a machine that will last another 8-10 years - I want to put as much "horsepower" up front so I can rely on the system for a good long while
I want enough RAM to do all of the things I want to do without a problem - photoshop and premier pro take a lot of resources
I would wait a few months for this
New parts coming very soon that are gonna change everything
New os, new ram generation
Intel big little core architecture
Lotta MASSIVE changes coming to pc parts in 4-5 months
Windows 11, but you'll be able to upgrade to upgrade to that with the list imma give ya
Their on a 10 year old pc tho lol
I hate to upgrade to the new OS when it first arrives - lots of bugs
If you can hold off for that long it will be better for a pc u plan on using for 10 more years
I skipped Vista - thankfully!!!
Oh not at all
WIn 95 was quite a challenge at first
Im on the beta for the new os and no real bugs
Things have really changed since windows vists
@sage stump are 27" monitors okay or would you like bigger?
32Gb should be fine for photoshop and premiere pro
27 probably ok\
Win 11 will probs have some bugs especially if you're using big little i feel
But fr if you cant hold on for 5-6 months its very understandable but honestly I would 100% wait
I am hearing you RAWR
They want to last 10 years and have a 2k budget
Doubt it. Windows has its crap together this time
I am on no rush
Ooh 10 years?
Exactly why ddr5 and 12th gen intel is worth waiting for
Fair
My goal is always 10 years - I do not like obsolescence
All I know is futureproofing isnt a good strategy
And even that I'm questioning now
guys im inside of bios and I have these memorry Crucial Ballistix 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR4-3600 CL16 Memory
But it shows up as 2666MHz is that correct?
Future proofing doesn’t really exist
Ur buying hardware thats at the end of its life if you buy a pc rn tbh
You need to turn on XMP
Enable xmp
aight ill look it up
Or DOCP if you have an AMD system
True, but it'll last you 10 years
thanks guys, ahhhh docp yea
No
Not that you'll literally never buy another pc thing in 10 years
It’s been called DOCP on all of my AMD mobos
Only asus calls it docp everywhere
wait do i turn on docp?
All other mobo manufacturers use cmp
its b55om plus wifi
Asus mobo?
Then yeah turn it on
Yeah turn on docp
Looks good to me
i just bought a corsair 5000d case, but it has a connector for the USB-C on the front panel, but my motherboard doesnt have the connector
does anyone know another way to get a usbc connector for the motherboard
?
If you have a spare usb 3.0 port, you can buy a converter, or you can get a pcie add in card
But do you really need that 1 usb c?
I don't because i have an usb-a to c adapter for a capture card but it would be convenient, plus it feels like the build is incomplete cause front panel not fully working :/
also there was only one usb 3.0 port on motherboard, being used for front panel as well
but you're right, Im just gonna leave it and live with the pain lol... for now
Pretty sure you can get a usb 3.0 splitter, you'd have to find one that does 1 usb a and 1 usb c or 2 usb 3.0 and then a usb c to 3.1 on one of the splits
Guys does the stock cooler with the 5 5600x have a plastic cover?
like the stock cooler has a plastic cover you need to remove
only plastic casing? not a plastic sticker
It doesn't have a plastic sticker type cover
thanks
Yee
If you have high temps, it's just cuz the 5600x stock cooler aint enough for it lol
yeah i thought they were high, maybe ill upgrade in the future. For now this is enough
ill look into them. I won't be overclocking, whats the worst that could happen with stock?
You're in Australia right?
yea mate 🙂
High temperatures /throttling is the worst that could happen lol
Well then a gammaxx 400 should be a nice upgrade to the cooler
Don't bother looking for a id cooling se 224xt in Australia
yup
Se 224xt is scalped for like 120$ or something if it is available, like it is in Canada
Aye but they might not know that it's only supposed to be 30 usd
is it possible to have 4 pcs link up to 1 stream pc?
I figure that, Im just wondering if that would work if it was done
well, me and my 3 brothers play games all the time. I have seen streamers before that had 2 screens linked to one, as they are in a romantic relastion ship or other ways. We want to set up ours to one and see how it goes.
im just doing research as I dont have all the money yet for a stream pc and the internet isnt strong enough to play modern games like cold war or modern warfare multiplayer.
Unless you wanted to have all 4 perspectives on like the same steam??
kinda, I have an idea in mind that I know will work with slobs, but I just didnt know if 4 capture cards are possible
Slobs?
I mean i don't see why 4 capture cards wouldn't be
stream labs open broadcaster software
well, I havent exactly found a mobo that has enough pcie slots for 4 captures and a gpu
4 capture cards, damn
What capture card would you be using?
Well i mean I'm assuming they would be x4 or x8 cards so possibly feasible with igpu?
