550w isn't overkill lol? There's like decent psu under 500w anyway
its overkill for the actual apu. i don't know if my friend will add a gpu in the future, but probably not
So my build is a little over a year old now and I just started having a problem and was hoping someone here would know something about it.
Sometimes when I turn my pc on or wake it up, my main display doesn’t pick up the signal. The monitor will start to come out of sleep mode but will just say no signal. My second display always works fine. The main display is using display port.
To fix it I have to unplug it and plug it back in.
Anyone know why this would be happening?
Decent psus don't come much cheaper anyway
Although I'd recommend segotep 600w it's like 5$ cheaper
Could be your monitor but what specs does your pc have?
I need an 8+6 pin cable for my graphics card, but my EVGA PSU didn’t come with one... any recommendations?
What did it come with?
Not entirely sure
8+8?
Here is my card but as you can see I need a 6 pin for card
And there's no pigtail lead you can use?
Nope
Should come with another 8 pin pcie
Hmm I’ll check when I get home
Looks like it might not come with acc
Rip
Do you know if any I can buy on Amazon?
Well acc should not need it
It should get enough power from the board and single pci cable
Okay thanks
But i would look for a decent pig tail cable anyway
rought pc specs are in my name. and my mobo is the tomahawk max. My monitor is a benq 1080p 120hz i think
Cuts off after 16 for me
my name just has r5-3600, rx 580, and 16 gb of ram
Have you tried a different cable?
Not yet
Mb try that
I’m not home rn
on Amazon people said that I can probably get away with using just the 8 pin, but I’ll probably just buy an extension cable adapter
Try it later then?

Some extra perips not worth talking about
How did you spend 2k on that?
That's like 1.5k
Not what my credit card tells me haha
I am new to pc modding and I wanted to know if I mount my AIO like this, will it degrade my tubing? Side note:this is a prebuilt that I upgraded. (That’s the reason why there’s mismatched ram and why I’m asking about the AIO)
If it matters, this is a Corsair H60
Is that a 120mm aio....
Lotta prebuilts equip 120mils
The tubing should be fine but if you just bought that return it, 120mm aios perform worse than a 30$ air cooler
120 kinda pointless really
Don't think it's a prebuilt
get a 360mm, or at least, a 240mm
mmmm I found this on EK and I think ima make my summer goal for my PC to get a 3080, this, and a full water cooling loop set up
The EK-Quantum Reflection PC-O11D XL D5 PWM D-RGB, a custom water cooling reservoir, routing, and pump solution. This “distro plate” is specifically designed to provide an advanced water cooling solution with the strongest pump that can be fitted for the O11D XL chassis by LIAN LI. This waterway is also equipped with a physical flow indicator th...
would look pretty damn cool in my O11D XL
but a yikes 370 USD
danggg! I bought the AIO thinking it would be better than the intel stock cooler
i'm new to all this
this is going to sound crazy but the i5 10400f. I have my reasons
240 mm?
mhm
okay
120 aio worse than 30$ air coolers
So I can control my fans attached to this device via CAM software right?
360 won't fit in a lot of cases tbf and overkill for a mid range cpu 240 or 280mm is fine just fine
can someone help me troubleshoot an issue ive been having with my pc?
yeah that's why I suggested 240
since he's rocking a 10400f
No, a 120mm aio is about the same performance as a stock cooler, I'd recommend returning and getting a vetroo v5, gammaxx 400, id cooling se 224 xt or if you want aio, ek, arcitc liquid ii or lian li galahad
i will be playing a game and my screens will go blank and then after a few seconds it turns back on like it was but all the apps are white and i have to restart them, and then when I do that it fully crashes
I have an i9 10850k with a pny xlr8 rtx 3070 running on an asus prime z490 board w/ 64gb ram@ 3200mhz
have no clue whats causing it, other than a red CPU light on the mobo
Reseat your ram
If not run occt on memory test for 1 hour
alright I will try that
I ran a memory test for prolly around an hour and nothing went wrong
What mem test?
Also have no idea how good it is
Run one of these, that exe file could be 💩
Just download occt
Yep
a 650w power supply is enough for an i9 10850k and rtx 3070 right?
Should be
Hey doods and doodettes and all in between. I got a question; does the ASUS ROG Strix Z590-A support SLI or Crossfire or both?
sli and crossfire has been dead for years btw
useless
and sli is only available on the 3090s anyway
Ok, so what is the multi-gpu solution?
i assume thats what it is but dont get 2 gpus wast of money
why do you want multi-gpu
Cards are hard to come by and I’m inheriting two Radeon rx 580.
This is my first build in like 20 years. And I want something to max out Battlefield 6, Squad, and Star Citizen
I’ve been out of it so long living as a console peasant that I practically know nothing about building anymore.
majority of games perform worse with 2 cards
sell the other card for like 350 lol
Mine with one and play with one
They are 8gbs
So what’s a decent card to run in the mid-high tier. I don’t mean max-max out the graphics to the “insane/psycho” category since that’s unrealistic and dumb but I wanna run the very high settings.
8gb rx 580 easily sells for 450+ now
keep one and sell one
use the one you have as a backup while looking for something better
depends on screen resolution
and fps target
1080p 144 fps? rtx 3060ti is perfect
1080p 60 fps? keep your rx 580
1440p 144 fps? rtx 3070-3080
4k 144 fps? keep dreaming
4k 60 fps? rtx 3070-3080
Ay whats the best build rn for 1000
I already have a 500 watt power supply
And ram
and fans
Cheap 3060 or cheap 3060ti with 10400/11400 and b560 mobo
Thanks
not 3090?
3090 isn't that much better than 3080 lol
ah
Can I get your help here. Please?
I am trying to choose between the 2.
Ryzen 7 5800x
X570 motherboard
120mm liquid cooling
Rtx 3070
16gb 3000mhz ddr4 ram
Wifi ac
1tb nvme
750w psu.
Or
I9 10900k
Z490 motherboard
240mm liquid cooler
Rtx 3080
64gb 2933mhz ram ddr4
Wifi6
2tb nvme 2tb HD’s
750w gold psu
without knowing prices i choose 2
Again, what's with the ram on the second one, and how are the prices between them?
The second one is actually an Aegis RS 10TE-058US
They haven’t specified which brand
The first one is 2500 and the second one is 3500
that changes things a lot
ick
I hate it's some 120mm aio in the first one, but I'd say first one is a good bit better for price to performance
Yo vintage does it matter which way you plug these cables in
Is r7 5800x better than i9 10900k though?
what will it be used for
3090s main thing over 3080 is the extra vram tbh
For gaming mainly
what resolution
Don't play on 4k cause you'll never want to go back from it lol
I have 3440x1440 monitor. So I wanted the 3080 mainly
Then a different prebuilt, lemme go find some 3080 prebuilts
i would buy the 3070 and put in a gammaxx 400, id cooling se 224xt or vetroo v5 cooler instead of the 120mm rad if you dont mind being taking stuff apart
3500$ is just too crazy imo
ohh 1440 ultrawide will need 3080 pretty much
(OUT OF STOCK, PROBABLY WONT COME BACK IN STOCK), but here's an example of what a well priced 3080 prebuilt would be
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali446/p/N82E16883360030
I'll check config on xotic
Even if xotic is overpriced, 3000$ for 5800x+3080
https://xoticpc.com/collections/g7-lancool/products/g7-lancool-x570?conf=409144
but well
anyways
The person selling me told me that he got the Ryzen from cyberpowerpc
go on cyberpower and make another config then, just buy it directly from cyberpower :P
So anyway apart from price which one would you go for ?
look man, the price is the biggest deciding factor
I'd take the money and get a better config for the same price as the 3500$ build
Let me build one on there and see. Thanks a lot
That manual doesn't tell you which way to plug in a cable
😔
cyberpower, ibuypower, redux, xotic, origin, maingear, etc
there's a bunch of prebuilt sellers
What mobo
pretty damn sure manual tells you pinout btw
Pretty sure manual says + or -.
Asus prime b560 - plus
I'm not asking where to plug them but which direction
Should the letters be facing up
Or down?
what
I don't understand the question
Letters don't matter at all
So it doesn't matter which way I plug it in
manual says connector plug into header, do it.
Line up plus and minus, that's it
You know how you can plug a USB only in one way
yeye
Okay
And we said it didn't a few times XD
this is like a 3.5mm jack if you're comparing it to a usb cable
it doesn't matter
follow the manual on where to plug it in
Bro idk how these single pins work
I understand
plug
done
I almost got everything plugged in
Finally
This is the most confusing part I feel like
careful those pins aren't the same on every single mobo
they are on most but some are different
best to
out of the 35 builds i've done one had a different layout for front panel pins
yeah they're almost always the same
however
one build i did very recently had this layout instead
which is very different from the "standard"
what mobo?
the board is also from 2013 so that might be why lol
lol
rog strix maximus hero vi
oooh
intel z87 4th gen
nice
got a really good price for it
once i toss it in a case and give it like a gtx 1060 or something i can make a pretty good profit
A quick update on the pc built.
The person selling it is offering the pc to me for MSRP now.
So sorry to pull the details in back.
CyberpowerPC - 2100$
Ryzen 7 5800x
X570 motherboard
120mm liquid cooling
Rtx 3070
16gb 3000mhz ddr4 ram
Wifi ac
1tb nvme
750w psu.
Or
MSI Aegis RS 10TE-058US - 2900$
I9 10900k
Z490 motherboard
240mm liquid cooler
Rtx 3080
64gb 2933mhz ram ddr4
Wifi6
2tb nvme 2tb HD’s
750w gold psu
probably can sell it for $800 or so
just buy whichever one you can afford why is it even a comparison
two drastically different prices
64gb is kind of a meme but you could sell that and put more reasonable ram
120mm aio on 5800x is a meme yeah
lol 360mm is barely enough for a 5600x
Yeah
ryzen 5000 runs unbelievably hot
Does it heat up that high?
I bet it'll thermal throttle even at stock speeds
Can't find a place to plug this in it saids sata on it
This generation does, yeah
that doesn't go into mobo
that goes into a sata power cable from power supply
is that from an rgb controller or something
yeah you are going to find a sata power cable from your power supply
yeah
fan hubs typically use sata power
I think it's for my fan hub
yes
plug it into power supply if you are using it
if you are plugging fans into mobo just leave fan hub unplugged
Now I am confused.
p sure bleach is joking about 360mm for 5600x, but zen 3 runs very hot
120mm aio is just kinda trashy either way
3090, r9 5900x, crosshair hero x570, arctic liquid ii, 32gb ballistix 3600cl16 (OC to 3800 for fclk), td500 mesh , enermax revolution df 850w , sk hynix p31 ssd something like that @plucky furnace
Bruh not even ekwb custom loop smh
I would do same except full custom loop in a O11 XL with distro plate
And dark hero mobo
And 64 gb of ram
Effort
Ehh 32gb will clock higher mainly because you can do 2x16gb
Also i don't like lian li
Especially o11
I don’t that much either but the distroplate you can get makes water cooling so much easier I’ve heard
Since no res pump combo you have to have sitting around in case
Anyone wanting to buy a smart device aka nzxts fan hub? We able to sell stuff here or no
If I was to cool 5600x I would get 280?
Arctic freezer 2
uh, not completely necessary, but if you want to
120mm is just very inefficient
No selling here
I would expect rando 120mm aios to perform around the same as a 30$ se-224-xt
May just do it because aio looks cool lmao
undervolting always option
Ek aio good if you want rgb
@fossil cedar okay my apologies!
Still waiting on EK to send the 280mm AIO over here
lol
ya, find it a good home but not here pls
nzxt dum thooo
Tru
(hehe)
https://www.gamersnexus.net/hwreviews/3522-nzxt-smart-device-doesnt-do-anything-cam-deep-dive
Our old coverage of the NZXT H700i included a lengthy section on what we deemed a bug-filled fusion of hardware and software that would be a waste of money even if it worked perfectly, with that device finding its way into a trashcan during the review. That was the “Smart Device” version 1, which was reclaimed from the trashcan for exactly this ...
Could use some graphics help
what about it
Aight thanks for being so patient with me lmao
I put everything together hit power. Computer comes to life but I got no visual for posting
Power cables are all good
What motherboard and CPU? And if possible, can you send the whole parts list?
Cpu = i5-6600k
MB = Gig 170X-UD3
Ram = evo forza 16G dual channel
A fresh M.2
Using on board graphics
MB is Z170X-UD3
@lavish hazel Any code on the top right of the motherboard?
Any gpu or no?
Alright
hm
Monitor is on?
'boot to legacy os'
Welp, reset cmos won't hurt
https://www.intel.com/content/www/us/en/support/articles/000025368/processors.html
Defines CMOS technology and how to clear CMOS using the jumper or battery methods.
battery method
I cant get to that. I can't get a signal tl the monitor
You don't need to do anything with your monitor for clearing the cmos
It’s on ur motherboard
So I plugged in a gpu and that worked fine. But I don't want to use a gpu on this build. This should work right?
There is a label on my motherboard that says CLR CMOS. Is that what I'm looking for?
Battery it is then.
jumper is fast way but its little but unsafe
Unsafe how? Jumping the wrong header and shorting the board?
no I mean ... once I killed mobo I think couse I forgot to disconnect cpu power cable
all cables should disconnected before use jumper
Most of the time the procedure for the jumper header is to just have the computer off, with the power supply left on, and touch the pins with metal for a few seconds so it grounds and wipes the cmos memory
Requiring all the cables to be disconnected seems counter to the purpose of the jumper
yeah thats what mobo manual says lol
but once I used jumper and mobo never booted again

idk could just be a weird board
it was gigabtye so lol
cringe
btw I bought pcie thuinderbolt card but idk how to install it 🤔
i mean its pcie but have another weird cable in box
maybe its for powering but idk where to connect it 🤔
Snap a pic of the end
The other cable goes to the 4 pin thunderbolt port
If your mobo doesn't have one
It won't work :/
ok I think found thunderbolt header
but theres another cable very looks like usb2 header 🤔
asus z490P i think lol
OH, same board my wife has with her 10600k
why theres not much info about that thunderbolt things on google lol
Because it's mostly a Mac thing TBH
And Intel is the only one that really supports it
yeah I didnt kn ow its that much hard to connect it lol
got very good deal on that device and didnt mind its thunderbolt
anyway yeah I found TB header on mobo but that pcie cards cord dont fit here
huh
come on asus its your mobo and your pcie card
Yeah but there are different gens of Thunderbolt
Yours might be for a different generation of motherboard
It's a thing
A crappy thing
This is the TB card you need https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-ThunderboltEX-3-TR-Motherboard-Thunderbolt/dp/B08926P9PV
Buy ASUS ThunderboltEX 3-TR Expansion Card for Z490 (Intel 10th Gen CPUs) Motherboard (PCIe 3.0 x4 Interface, 2 x Thunderbolt 3 USB Type-C Ports with 100w USB Quick Charge, 2 x Mini DisplayPort in Ports): Motherboards - Amazon.com ✓ FREE DELIVERY possible on eligible purchases
There are two other versions
Looks like there is a USB 2.0 cable
as well as a TB cable
jumpers aren't unsafe if you know what you're doing
i've shorted jumpers with some weird things
yeah its thunderboltex3 and I think this cable is just usb2 cable
ive shorted jumpers with a zipper
a headphone plug
a kitchen knife
a cleaver
car key
literally just the nearest metal object works tbh
heck i even got my mom to turn on a case-less pc using a box cutter knife
she was in disbelief that you can turn on a computer with a knife
lol power swith jumper is looks like magic for someone dont know it
and why the heck should i connect that displayport
Should be another cable with it then.
I think I just should get mobo with thunderbolt port 🤔
Which can get very expensive
yeah .. cheapest one is 300$
alright I think I placed it but... theres another displayport cable in box
on website it says connect it to your mobo but what the heck is that
i think its so you can connect to monitor from far away and have usb connections like linus does
m27q has usbc input and the built in usb hub will transfer data to that device
what cooler
I connected everything but im so tired so I'll mess with drivers and stuff tomorrow . hope it will work 🙃
or my last chance is buying nobo with thunderbolt port
cooler master hyper 212
idle doesn't matter that much, load temps matter more
what cpu lol
what cpu?
we literally cant help you until you answer the question
r5 3600
bruh
212 should be enough of a cooler for that
212 isnt an amazing cooler but should make it at least not 63c
check mounting pressure
ik usually its lower
probably time to repaste
or maybe just restart pc
i am getting a new case so ill do it then
check temps after a restart
ok
my gpu was like at 75 degrees under a normal load for some reason one day
restart fixed it
same with cpu, too
maybe check temps on bios ? couse maybe some apps using cpu at background 🤔
task manager
is something using the gpu?
also what software are you using to monitor temps
*cpu
sorry
.
hw info
okay nice
is pbo on?
no
yeah then just check mounting pressure and probably reapply paste
i dont want boost
no choice lol
yeah, you do want boost
oh nvm
also you do want it yeah
Boost =/= Overclock
i was thinking of something else
before I buy everything I wanted to get opinion on this build: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/CQPdQD
overclock is going beyond boost
beyond that idk
PSU is a no, low quality. Change NVME to Muskin Pilot E, CPU cooler is OK
psu i've never seen before
that cpu cooler looks pretty bad for $60 tbh
looks about the same heatsink size as vetroo v5 but with less heatpipes
and plastic top doesn't help
any recommendations ?
vetroo v5 with i5-11400
honestly with a 3060 you can go i5-10400 and there will be no difference
but 11400f price is low rn
saved you about $200
vintage i really don't think that dinky little cooler is worth $60
4 heatpipes and as thin as the vetroo
But for $60 there are better ones
@earnest olive How about if I want to keep the same cpu (Ryzen 5 5600x), motherboard (MSI MAG B550), and gpu (3060 xc)
I have both cpu and gpu
Then change the cooler, NVME and power supply.
^
but christ why do people ask for help with parts lists after buying parts

i'm gonna go shower have fun vintage
I was lucky to get my hands on 3060 xc and cpu is very popular
Popular doesn't mean it's good.
It was good until Intel 11th Generation came out and showed competition
ok I will listen to both of you then
Power supply, Corsair CX 650 or Segotep GPP 650
CPU cooler, Vetroo V5 or Scythe FUma
You already have the CPU lol
use it, just change the other parts
so is it bad to use the cpu that i have or is it about price difference ?
Since you already bought it, it's fine
if you hadn't already purchased it, the price to performance is low with AMD
AMD is now high end, Intel is lower priced performance
Like, the iNtel 10850K was on sale for $300
Ryzen 5800x is $449
and they're pretty close
Performance wise
gotcha
Next time you make a list, if you already have purchased parts, mark them as purchased in the PCPP list
So we know what you have already XD
I am new to this
always a learning experience with pcs
@muted patio could you please give this list another look before I buy everything: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ksmpsX
ok gotcha. How about everything else?
if you don't already have the mobo
that mobo is overpriced
ig if you specifically like that mobo it's fine
like it's not bad you can just get a cheaper one and still be fine
it's also probably worth getting a beefier cooler for a 5600x
they run very hot
put the money you save on mobo towards better cooler
ok what cooler should i get ?
you can save a few bucks if you don't care about rgb on the cooler
but that's pretty cheap for one with rgb anyways
240mm aio will allow 5600x to max boost
you could probably get away with less but it would be louder and/or hotter
np
the cheaper mobo gives you more budget for the cooling so it's worth
can maybe remove one fan since the aio has 2 fans
@earnest olive is there a better cooler because that one has 1 negative rating
meh i don't care about amazon user reviews
i bought one for a cheap resell build
it works fine
yes pump always runs at 100% but that's not really a problem
it's not loud and a lot of people that do have controllable pumps still run them at 100% always lol
and they're wrong about the rgb being proprietary
the connectors look a bit strange but i was able to connect it to standard 5v 3 pin argb header
mounting rad at the top is an option as long as you cable manage it correctly
i used it to cool an i7-8700K @ 5.1ghz just fine
most user reviews don't know what they're talking about
So if i get this cooler, I will mount it on the top correct?
top or front both work
ok I'm a little scared because i dont know how to use this type of cooler? Like how to install it
ehh liquid coolers are harder to install but you can find guides on youtube
you know that review user doesn't know much bc they are recommending corsair aio to someone looking at budget aios
Hi I wanted to ask a ok thing for a friend should he build a pc or get a prebuilt
Given the GPU situation, nothing wrong with a prebuilt from the right place
Can u tell me good parts for a budget of 1400$ cuz I’m not that good at the part stuff
yes it's very important to find a good prebuilt because there are a LOT of egregiously terrible prebuilts
?
get a graphics card first if you want a part list
it's hard to find them right now
for decent prices
I got the new rams but i see i have only one space to put
i can take off the one i have and replace the new 2 rams?
Is it easy to put it by myself?
Yep
Just unlatch the latches on each side
It's a downwards and out motion
For the latches
Ram you pull straight out
Replacing means lining up the notch with the one on the slot
@jagged ember So, i should just turn off my pc and put them and then i don't have to do anything else;
I end up putting them by myself the ram, should i do something on the Bios?
Enable xmp in the bios
@fossil cedar The A-XMP?
Can you go into advance mode?
Where is that?
Try motherboard settings
Doesnt open anything
usually toggles between simple and advanced modes
click the overclocking option
XMP might be there
also a photo of the entire screen would help
its F7 for your board
press f7
select profile 2
Sometimes profile 1 is better than 2
on the option u are hovering over in the pic
look at the profile info under the option
Nvm it says the speeds of both
Yeah i didn't see it showed you lol
F12 maybe
No, it's not F12
Can you press f1 and see what shows up
That's usually a help menu and will tell you the save and boot key
I think I save it
If it boots straight into windows its most likely saved
You can check in task manager
That's it
Save changes and reboot;
Yep
Or you can just click x
It'll prompt if u wanna save or not
Also advanced mode turned on using f7
Give it a sec as long as it aint frozen dw
For the price of $87 swap the G3 for a A650GF with actual functional OPP, as well as swap the p360a for the p300a and p12s to save some money, there’s also zero need for an AIO, a Vetroo v5, Se-224xt, Gammax GTE V2, Gammax 400 V2, or NB1055KB/NB5510CF will be more than fine for half the price furthermore reason why not to get that AIO is because there’s no testing/reputable review on it featuring the 240mm variant, I would also swap out the ssd to something more targeted to the basic consumer(assuming this a gaming pc) like a Mushkin Helix-L, and swap out the ram for a 3200mh cl16 kit instead as for consumer use you won’t notice a difference and will also save $10.
uh
the 3600mhz ram makes a lot of difference on Ryzen
up to 10%, maybe even more on some tasks
For the aio, bleach was just doing some wacky things, might be OCing, dunno.
Yes, on some tasks this won’t affect the average consumer though
I'm talking up to 10% in games
so
Where are you sourcing this from?
Also, pretty sure the G3 listing is for the 60$ b stock g3 that was on evga's site yesterday, but oh well
I'll grab testing
literally any benchmark that uses 3600 v 3200, its also because the fclk increases with ram speed

Buy...
Come up as $87 for me but if it’s actually $60 then it’s not bad.
also, who need opp when you can just throw away ocp >:D
morning all
SSD is SSD, mp33 is cheaper, but when there's budget left over, pilot e is neat
morning
inb4 P31
p31 op
found a resitsor in my robotics class
for senior year we're gna be making power supplies
p gm
tempted to stick it in a wall out;et
i want to disconnect my rgb how do i do that
unplug the rgb cable
that would be not breins
diy toaster
open up your pc, take out the side rgb hub unplug
i dont know where it is
look for it
ok
its probs on the back side
inb4 he doesnt have a hub
The difference with 3600mhz cl16 and 3200mhz cl16 is very minimal according to the benchmarks
The average consumer won’t notice a difference but ig if they have the budget for it
inb4?
as in
here before he says he doesnt have a hyb
and youve sent him on a wild goose chase

thats on 3000 ryzen not even 5000, 5000 benefits a lot more
Then why not provide a updated comparison
ohh no i havent lol because they gotta have a hub becuase its only controlled through their case and nothing is connected to the mobo rgb header
gn havent updated it yet
vermeer is a lot better for ram
for < zen 2 doesnt rly matter much
also u could just oc the 3200C16 kit to 3600C16
Alright I’ll check it out later then
ehhh depedns on the die
Rx 580 compatible with Asus Prime B560M-K ?
yeah
ball sticks
how can i make sure ,can you explain more ?
with gpu's if it fits it is compatible
u just gotta make sure you have the right PCI-e cables from ur psu
how would i know if it fits i didn't buy yet
ballistix would do but ballistix 3200 is 5$ less than 3600 ballistix atm
it will fit
the connector is pretty much the same between gpu's
it does, any semi modern gpu uses the pcie connector
if its from the past like 8 years it will fit
wait wahts the pricing like right now? last time 3200C16 was around 74 and 3600C16 was 83 ?
3600 92 and 3200 is 88
Makes sense thanks guys.
how much is vulcan at?
82 for 3200
uh, there's more than 10% difference depending on the game for 3200c16 vs 3600c16?
and the point isn't for the average consumer to notice it
The 850w EVGA power supplies I was looking at only have one "peripheral" connection. I need like 4 molex connections (3x thermaltake fan/aRGB controllers & 1x cooling loop pump). The PSUs have 3x SATA connections. I can't use SATA ports for Molex can i?
You can just get sata to molex adapters
they're the same voltage?
Well, they won't come with extra cables that plug into SATA that gives you molex
and well
who knows
@bitter mason a thing with PSUs is that on the PSU side, the pinout is wack
as in, there's no standard for the pinout on the PSU side
ya it'll be a mission to get more cables cuz they're all proprietary
Which EVGA PSU in particular?
Most come with a string of molex, IE, 4-5 molex on a run of cable
Seriously, like every single one of them
ya but can a single connection handle that load?
Ya
the pump is 18w alone
OH ya
Also
For an 850W PSU
I'd recommend the Enermax REvolution DF
Most times it's cheaper and higher quality
ya?
I was being a bit of a brand [word not allowed on this chat I'd assume]
ya but plus two riing trio 200mm
Those fans take hardly any wattage
& I saw those had good prices on them
it's just messed up cuz they're so much cheaper that it's suspect
ya but so is thermaltake, coolermaster, etc.
let's see
12v and a 5v pin on most peripheral connectors
prob rated for, what, 12a per pin sounds about right
you can get the aRGB Enermax cheaper than like bottom tier thermaltake, etc.
that's 204 watts max
Well
hehe
which one
aRGB Enermax PSU?
don't go by brand, go by the model
there's crappy Enermax PSUs too, our reccomendation ONLY applies to the revolution d.f.
I appreciate this. I was thinking if it's not like almost $200 for the PSU it's low quality
Nah
at the 850w level
Price has nothing to do with it
however, anything other than the Revolution DF we will have to look in to
Because they're not all the same
that's the OEM
Superflower makes PSU's for a lot of other brands
For the PSU world, please throw your brand loyalty out the window
And a lot of EVGA PSU aren't that great
oh yea EVGA is also kinda all over the place with OEMs
It's not really about brand loyalty. I just didn't know if I could trust the cheap ones
price doesn't mean quality
I don't care if it's purple & pink, it's under a shroud anyway
The Enermax REvolution DF is one of the best multi rail power supplies you can get
I was also looking at ROG but they're expensive probably for nothing
They just don't overcharge for it like others do
Just a scope of all the different OEMs for EVGA PSUs:
BA - Andyson
B - HEC
BT - Superflower
GD - FSP
NEX Classified - ETASIS (no idea who they are)
GS - Seasonic
I also liked the Seasonic because it has surge protection built in
oh for real?
Yes
we only recommend power supplies that have all the protections
that actually work
SCP is on most decent PSUs
Some power supplies have protections but they aren't set properly
why is the gold enermax $130 but the platinum is $270?
Because different units are priced weirdly, and probably out of stock things
Platinum is just marketing, just get Gold. The power "savings" takes years to overcome the cost difference
Platimax d.f. is based off CWT CST, while revo d.f. is based off CWT GPU
well I'm glad I asked because I was about to waste money for sure
and yea, platinum doesn't mean much
it's what, 1% difference on the efficiency curve
That's the one
yea
👍
The only thing I did like about the EVGA is the cables come with like wrapping or whatever that makes them smaller & easier to organize
I think you'll find that the flat cables organize well also
the ribbon type can be a mission to organize but I'll get over it
They're hard to angle. I had a 750w Thermaltake for my last build & the ribbons can be a pain
cable management is not important anyways :P
ya that looks nice you're right
Spiderweb
yeees
Only form of cable management that's valid
is that the og h500p?
neat
ya the one with the acrylic front is no good
no air flow
gamernexus tore it a new one
yep
I'm doing Thermaltake Level 20 RGB this time
lol 3200c16 ram for a 5600x
also if I've learned anything from having a 5600x
there is no such thing as overkill cooling for a 5600x
you could give it its own 560mm rad and it would still run hot
Is a i5 2400 and gtx 750 ti a good combo?
No
Ight
also I don't care about reviews when I've tested it myself
8700K @ 5.1GHz 1.4V LLC1 in prime95 small ffts avx (257W power draw) running at 75C all core
it's a perfectly fine 240 aio
guy has the budget for it
i have a vetroo v5 on a delidded 4770k that throttles
Isn’t that thermal throttling tho at 75c
vetroo v5 is an incredible cooler for the price but let's not pretend that there's nothing better
...no?
75c all core is incredible for that kind of workload
Oh ok cool
thermal throttling is 100c
my 5600x instantly hits 85-90c in prime95 small ffts avx at only 1.2v with its own 360 rad and 8 fans
Hey we have the same CPU
but also prime95 is just insane
yeah that's what i'm saying
which, speaking of
if that aio can perform that well in prime95 i don't care about reviews lmao
is mixed mode more demanding than small ffts avx?
huh
small ffts is the most demanding
pushed a 6 core to 257 watts lmao
watch me do the same with my 3600
i'll give you a cookie if you can beat my 3600 air cooled oc
lmao i won't, don't worry
i just run pbo and set max frequency to 4300 lol
i'm thinking about buying another one of those "not reputable" aios
found a 9700k for cheap just waiting for seller to provide me benchmarks
going to mod it into a z170 board i got for free
z170??
is that allowed?
not particularly difficult either
oh
all you need is some softwares and some tape
tape for what?
covering some pins
lmao actually?
tbf it's a special kind of tape but
it's also like $5 on amazon so
i don't even need to delid the 9700k it's already soldered
got a free delid tool and delidded 8700k + 4770k with it
pretty good value
dropped $4 on liquid metal
that "not reputable" aio has a pretty cool looking block
sadge
it's kind of weird
the pump is sata powered and the argb connectors look funny
but the pump is not loud at 100% and the sata power cable is long enough to not be an issue
and the argb connectors still work with standard headers even if they look funny
so neither of them bother me
cheapest way i can advertise the cheap flip build as liquid cooled without having to be a bad person and put a 120mm
what was the 360 AIO called?
which one
this one?
oh it's a 240
haven't decided what case i actually want to use yet
wonder if i can flip this for 2k after mining apocalypse lol
there's enough liquid metal left over to do my laptop too
might upgrade to a 5800x and liquid metal on top
gonna stain the ihs and my block but oh well
if i resell my pc later on as a complete unit staining doesn't matter
that's pretty nice for a 2k build
even has wifi and custom sleeved cables
right, and the A80
bluetooth too lol
i went liquid metal on top of the ihs too so that copper block is probably already stained
meh what are the odds they're gonna take the cooler off
Hmm I wonder how much I could sell my pc for
