By The Way.....
yes?
Which PC Build Is Best?
what do you mean by that
Fantec, the company that makes Racing wheels that cost as much as good computers?
How much is your budget
any recommendation depends on budget and purpose
guys in the meantime, I have a question.. this is my build: "Ryzen3900x, RogStrixX570-E, 32GB(4x8)ddr4-3600c14, founder 6800xt, some ssd drives... " I am wondering if it worth a cpu upgrade to 5600X or 5800X?... cant find proper benchmarks because of my monitor "odyssey g9 32:9 I play at full 5120x1440" right now getting 110FPS "mid settings" on CoD coldwar.
if I use high or ultra, it drastically drop to 40-50fps because of the high resolution. I dont know if maybe the cpu upgrade could help "a bit"
Fantech Does Not Build Racing Wheels.
Fantech does much more than makes fans. We're committed to making products that support healthy indoor environments and ensure your loved ones breathe clean air.
It's Not....
Try Search Fantech World.....
This Is.....
That website is.........weird.
What???
Their translations are off a bit lol
Fantech Is A Gaming Company.
so am i š
yea fantech is popular in asia (ig on SEA they do more)
but keyboards is poop tho
their cases looks v nice tho
A lot of their stuff seems to be low quality
yeap, it's cheap too
Ok go ahead
@rich helm So after my friend helped me put my system together, we booted it up and one of two things would happen after about running for 5 mins:
- A watchdog error
- The entire screen freezes, forcing us to restart.
If needed, I can provide a parts list.
Yes plz for the parts list
What do you mean by watch dog error
A blue screen with a sad face saying there's a problem
Did you install all drivers
We installed a Gforce Nvidia driver from the website because my friend told me i would need it to properly play my games, but that's the only driver that's there when we open the device manager. I also tried installing windows, which seemed to work, but only that one driver is there
The mobo should of come with a disk which you use to install drivers or you have to download them on the website
do you have a gpu?
yeah, a gtx 970
Oh ok was confused why you would get nvidia driver
Download mobo drivers from website
Iām going to find a link
ok, i'll give it a try
Welcome to the MSI Global official site. We are the top Gaming gear provider.
You have to download drivers for proper functionality of a system
So i do have a disc with the drivers, but i don't have a disc drive
Click driver, select windows 10 64, then download all of the drivers there (besides the older realtek audio driver) and install them
Just download them off the website
ok my friend is downloading them now
my friend asked "my cpu doesnt have onboard graphics, should i download the onboard vga drivers"
can sum1 recommend me a 3 pack of fans under $50 they dont have to be RGB but it is preferred
well there's arctic p12's
No you shouldnāt need to
But everything else is good
they look nice do yk if they preform well?
Yes pretty decent
yeah
ok thx
the ones that say "pst" are daisy-chainable so you should get those
last time i checked they were $10 each
or 5 for $40
ok, the chip set driver has been installed, we're restarting now to see what happens. usually it froze within 5-10 minutes, so how much time should i see without issues to know if that fixed anything?
Install all the drivers and restart after and you might have to do watchdog error before it works properly
ok, sounds good, i'll reply when everything is back up
Ok š
@topaz schooner Hereās some steps that you need to take: if your driver isnāt iastor.sys like it says in 4 then we can try something else
So good news, it hasn't frozen, but it's been on "getting windows ready" for about 20-25 mins. I'll give that a try when (and if) the computer finally finishes what it's doing
whats the best dns
1.1.1.1
does location matter
afaik they have a crap ton of servers so not really
ok thnx
@rich helm It seems like everything is ok for now, I'll let you know if anything messes up. Thanks for the hellp so far
@rich helm (sorry for the many pings) It's still freezing up
Did you do the watchdog steps
So it doesn't say the thing you said for number 4 it says "storachi.sys"
Iāve installed a new MoBo and processor; Iāve got the software installed for it now. Is there anything else I need and/or am missing before I start gaming on it? Iāve checked windows updates and updated 3 times. Any bios stuff or hardcore drivers I should worry about?
I have two things on that list that both say "SATA AHCI" and they both have the same properties
You have two ssds try updating the driver for both
If the driver is the one listed in the steps
I've tried doing the steps and nothing changed. Instead of "iastor.sys" it says "storahci.sys" instead
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BLTj9N how is this? (im not only gaming and the games im playing are more cpu intensive, im trying to edit videos get outta here with the 10400f)
what's your budget?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yKwCPV for only $60 more you get this
i wanted to keep it as close to $1500 as possible ;-;
isnt the seagate barracuda like $7 less?
also yea the other hdd i had was less money and faster rpm
the wd blue caviar is a cmr drive, the baracuda is smr and it tends to fail a lot :/
fr? my bad OG
i'll see if i can go cheap on sum stuff
ok
it's alr smh
btw another guy ended up recommending this to me
apparently the integrated graphics help out in vid editing
:/
What now?!
Technically they do cause quicksync
but the only thing i can think of that uses it well is premiere
Not much improvement tho right
Yeah they might help but is it worth it?
it's like $10 more than the f
it can be pretty helpful for encoding afaik
those intel igps are pretty good with h.264 or was it h.265?
but i need to fact check myself
nope the clock speeds are the same on both cpus
base 2.9ghz turbo 4.3ghz
the igp gets deactivated when a dgpu is plugged in
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8k2zdD this is what i came up with for now
Lemme check gimme a sec
downgraded the monitor, went with a cheaper case, and added more ram
Why do you look like dababy
less go
U want my credit card info ?
lmao
Lol
funny dababy insta dm
Hey anyone here uses polychrome sync ?
ill dm u on insta i have proof im him just look at my pfp
b560 boards made intel the go-to for low-mid tier
lemme know if you want me to
Intel is ass naming CPUās
@little osprey
wat
.
Intel i7 90000kxtfl 16 gen like bruh make it simple like amd ryzen 5 3600
i mean at least it makes sense
unlike monitors
I got a 1080 curved 24 inch 144hz free sync monitor
you mean you dont want a i5-7640X cpu smh
nah i have a i5 34245654 ti xt xr
lemme just plug in my 3.2 gen2^4 * 7 dongle so that i can use my 3.1&2 + 8 usb device
hate when this happens XD
i 5 6900xt xr pro Max 11thgen rocket ti super mini
Nvidia when those silicon chips get delivered
@little osprey do you still need help with finding a parts list?
or are you all good for now
i think i got it but im still waiting on crai's amd build
fair
benchmarks show that the 10700f and 3700x are similar in multi and single core performance
5600x is better and cheaper tho
Tbh if you going amd atm unless you going ryzen 9 intel is better value
5600x is like 100$ more than it should be for good value
It performs pretty similar to i5 10400 for half the price
i wonder when the 5 5600 is going to come out
no only the 5600x
Mb soon, the amd processors aren't going out of stock instantly anymore
Oh
if the 10400 is on par with the 3600 in some instances, the 5600x is def better than the 10400
But not 100$ better
150 acc
but if you're main use for the rig is video edit and not game, then go 10700f/3700x
Yeah
Bruh the 5600x beats the i9 In some cases
yeah 10400 is better value
The 5900x boosts higher
Value vs performance
pick your poison in this case cpu
Stick to the amd one prob
And is better for things other than gaming
Productivity
The thing is 3000 series cpus are overpriced atm
intel one is prolly gonna be cheaper, for about the same perf
??? Iām not talking about the ryzen 9
Ohh misread
But the thing is when you can find a 10850k for the same price as the 5600x it's like why not get 10 cores
The amd CPUās will beat intel most of the time in terms of productivity
Even if you loose some single core perf
It just depends if j what youāre gonna be doing with the cp really
but you gain 8 extra threads
intel is simply better value rn on the cheaper side
Yea
yeah
if you're gaming...id still get the 10850k
games are starting to use more than 4 cores
Stock š„ŗ
5600x is still better for game
10850k has 10 cores tho and shreds it in productivity
Yep
plus a kinda newer platform
lga 1200 has 11th gen upcoming, meanwhile zen 3 was end of the road for am4
yee
11th gen looks like it's gonna suck tho
bit better ipc aint saving you from 8 extra threads yo
so far it sucks (11th gen)
10850k has 4 extra cores and 8 extra threads
we still need to see the i5s, i3s and i9s
the 11700k was just a giant meh, not bad but meh
Ah
But z590 is nice
True but if the 11700k under performs 10700k in some situations that's not a good look
I was so confused when I saw people recommending the 3600 for gaming pc builds
tbh i'm kinda waiting for reviews on the 11400/f and how it compares to a 3600/x, 5600x, 10600k/f nd 10400/f
Yes
And they aint gonna win high end with the 11th gen i9 being 8 cores
Lmao
Yes but 10th gen on z590 better
you don't get pcie gen 4 with 10th gen smh
no fast useless drives to stick into my system for big number smh
that was from anandtechs review with the whole gear nonsense
after seeing gn's review the 11700k can edge out the 10700k in most cases by 5-10%
same, thats where intels value is much better
and for like $100 bucks more
also that
i forgot how overpriced it was
Yes
No most of the time it was equal, if not worse
If you live near a micro center get a 10850k instead imo
3 hour drive baybeeee
Oof nvm
@rich helm I've done just about everything, and it still freezes. It's fine until I go to do anything, I can't install or run any programs without it freezing.
can i request a refund for something thatās on the way?
xeon X5680, asus x58 board, hyper212 style cooler, gtx 1060 3gb 12gb ddr3, 240gb ssd, 1tb hdd, 550w psu, phanteks case for the 400 is this a good price and PC
imagine i11 11th gen
yea no thats cursed
eh, it's okay considering GPU pricing, but otherwise very meh
Should I wait
I can't predict the future but
I'm assuming it won't improve in the near future
@wheat zinc Actually, if it's 400$ total w shipping it's pretty good nowadays
A guy will build it for me
read it as 550$ at first for some reason
How much would they charge for building it..?
Iām not to sure but they said it will coast 400 so I assumed they included building fee
This guy Iām talking to is talking about arm
And their m1x
Iāve never heard of it
He says itās gonna be amazing
And it has built in graphics
how do i see the mhz for my ram
in bios or task manager
Do I need a 850 watt psu if I am running a rtx 3080 and an i9 10900k ?
So. Um. I just looked for parts on Amazon. How can you tell if someone is a shady seller?
Oof
GeForce GT 1030, old graphics card but it might work
Athlon II X2
Which, AM3 is still kinda good but I wouldn't buy it for playing modern games
Especially not a dual core
Phenom II X4 955 is what I've had experience with, it's not bad at all
reviews are iffy for this one also this computer looks pretty ugly if you ask me
but looks arent really my top priority right now
What's the price
any recommendations for pcie thunderbolt cards?
Any parts you buy on Amazon and don't get, Amazon are really good for giving refunds, and not having sketchy stuff for pc parts
@rigid oracle that athlon cpu will barely even be able to run youtube
avoid
we are talking about a cpu that was considered ultra budget in 2009
msrp of $60 in 2009
it will struggle with modern webpages
2mb cache is not doing it any favors
#graphics-cards pls
if you intend to get a pc with integrated graphics such as that ryzen 3 3200g, dual channel 16gb ram is a must
what about the other one i sent
yes that's the one i'm talking about
integrated graphics will reserve 2gb ram
leaving you with only 6gb ram left
and gaming performance will be terrible in single channel
if you are willing to open it up and add another ram stick it'll do slightly better
but at that point just build your own
In today's video, we are going to talk about the process of removing and installing both AMD and Intel CPUs. This process is fairly common as people want to either replace their processor to keep their machines up to date, or to replace a damaged component. As rare as this experience may be, we here at CyberPower PC wanted to provide a quick ste...
thansk
@rigid oracle https://pcpartpicker.com/list/M2sj9N beats both of those prebuilts by a good amount
ryzen 3 3200g for $150 on ebay
Hey everyone hi š I'm new here and I am new to the whole building a pc thing and I'm looking into building a gaming pc to game and stream on. But I don't know where to start. Any help or advice is appreciated. Oh also im on a strict budget.
you could start by saying the budget
Hmmm no more than $2000 CAD
first of all unless you are willing to wait several months you will need to buy a used gpu
so it's up to you if you are fine with that
does 2000 CAD include monitor, keyboard, mouse?
if not you can target an RTX 2070 SUPER or GTX 1080Ti for up to 1k CAD
I meant eBay
Sorry
ohh look at reviews, and read them not just star rating, also im not sure about proper ebay sellers but finding people who have pictures from multiple angles and on a piece of furniture (like table) in their house
@alpine marsh https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/djzCPV
I already have a mouse and keyboard
so you need a monitor
actually if you're streaming you need two
gotta make some downgrades then
for future reference budget usually does not include peripherals
What exactly are peripherals?
everything outside of the pc
Sorry if that's a dumb question
sadly seems b560 boards are overpriced in canada
there aint many b560 boards out yet unfortunately
availability and pricing is pretty good in the US
on pcpp theres like 10 boards with pricing tho no?
yet the 10400F is still so cheap that overpaying for a B560 board still ends up a better option than going r5 3600
I could try to see if a friend in the US could get it for me
dunno i was doing a new build for gf, looked at b560 boards, saw a good one on newegg for $130, had it in 2 days
seems good to me
nah this one is not overpriced enough to be worth that hassle
including 2 monitors
one monitor for game, one monitor for streaming software of choice + chat
streaming on one monitor is not a good time
If I have a 75 hz monitor, should I limit frames to 75 or double of my hz?
Nvm
Should be 75 fps
If your monitor has freesync or gsync on then cap it at the refresh rate and leave vsync off in game.
If you're playing a shooter game leave all the sync stuff off and cap at double your refresh rate.
setting an fps limiter can cause input delay, so unless you have a cpu bottleneck i wouldnt reccomend doing it
Yes ofc
It can acc reduce imput delay
Depends, for example, with Nvidia's low latency mode in NVCP set to ultra (no pre-rendered frames), you might actually get less input lag with a cap on frame rates
Oh and prob needs g sync or some kind of VRR too
oh, well thats interesting
gonna have to look into it, but the general consensus is limit fps=more input lag
I use a limiter so I get more consistent, stable frame rates. Running no cap heats me up fast and drops my .1% lows far below where I like.
what specs
I read that you're supposed to set frame cap 2-3 fps below your monitor's limit for gsync?
This was back when I had my R7 2700, my R7 5800X doesn't really have that problem as much but I do get microstutter going too high. RTX 2070
That's mainly because if pre-rendered frames afaik, as a theoretical example,
Normal settings, 100fps, limit to 60fps, so after the 60 frames, some of the extra frames that were already rendered would be reused for the next settings
Yea just blurbuster testing
oh, well that explains the dips
I mean I'm running v sync off g sync on for some reason and it's working well for me
Prob should just turn off g sync altogether
If you're running over your refresh rate there's not much point leaving it on
Yea
4000 fps
yeah for some reason in the start screen for genshin fps decides to shoot up to 4000-6000
4000+ fps also achievable in minecraft
You can selectively enable a limiter in nvidia settings for specific game profiles
Maybe alt tab away from or minimize window so it doesn't render frames
If I get an Nvidia gpu and I have free sync will I still be able to run 144 hz
yes
Is there an rgb strip that is razer compatible?
Ok good
freesync works with nvidia gpus from pascal and later
but you can still run 144hz on a 900 series gpu
it just won't support freesync
Will the screen tear
your mileage may vary
700 series supports 1080p144, not sure about older
I dont even have a gpu on this on
Cheap monitors are cheap for a reason. Keep that in mind and don't cheap out and you should have a decent freesync experience.
I have the benq 2710
When I get a new pc it will be around 700 and its gonna be a starter
Free sync is amd, g-sync is nvidia
Probably a prebuilt with the gpu prices rn
yes... but nvidia gpus from pascal and later support freesync
it doesn't matter who made it
So 1650 super and up?
Let me look at some pre builts and I'll tell you the gpu if its Nvidia
I have gsync running on my (second hand, free) freesync monitor also.
youll get smoother frame times/frame delivery also stops spikes as much , makes you more consistent in games that require it eg fps games
for fps games at least 2x monitor refesh rate is ideal anyway
my only competitive game is league
ahh well i play overwatch and rainbow six so
is league not a competitive game...?
well i can get 600 on a r9 380 in mc so makes sense lol
yes but its not an fps title
Hey, so the starter pc for NZXT has a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1650 for the gpu. Is that good with freesync?
Technically it is but... kinda falling out of popularity with all the new games
like fps doesnt matter really snail
Idk what pascal is
yeah it supports freesync
Architecture
Pog
Well, there's some bits and pieces that are carried over
like 1650 gets pascal nvenc
not turing
Thank you Mr snail
Interesting
but super gets turing nvenc right?
What does this mean
Nvidia encoder
the nvenc encoder is great for streamers, it encodes on a special area on the gpu instead of the cpu basically
For encoding video
I believe ti does, don't remember if super has turing or pascal
well theres not much point looking at exect specs for christmas now
@spice badger there's always other options, and the market is always changing
^ youd be better off starting to look in september earliest
By then the options will have changed
Do you know any good pre built companies to take note of that have starter pcs
Alright then
iBuyPower?
Buildredux, once their GPU prices drop
Bro the gpu prices are making get a prebuilt š
ibm š
Dell
things might have easied by christmas
Dell has actually decent deals right now, clearance time
hopefully
Yes
if i had to buy a prebuilt i'd gladly pay a premium to avoid dell
Buildredux and xoticpc are good
well it wont be exactly the same, im guessing older gpus might become more normal price
I hate proprietary parts
Well I saw they had $720 for a Dell with 10400f and 1660 ti so I'd buy that just for the GPU and CPU
wait
I remember seeing rx 570s for like half the price in 2019
okay that is cheap enough to make me consider dell lol
I should've got a pc then
That's exactly my point lol, I'd have never considered suggesting it before but their clearance is pretty good
Jesus
$450-$500 on ebay atm
and a 10400f is so easy to cool even dell probably couldn't mess it up
as soon as you step into i7 territory
dell: did someone order thermal throttling?
dell will happily put a cooler worse than intel stock cooler on an i7 lol
saw a review of a dell pc with a 3700x
was running at 101C
and of course single channel ram
Oof
and that was at stock
meanwhile on the 3700x stock cooler... 85C in prime95 while overclocked to the teeth
So, I've decided to buy a samung smart fridge instead of a new pc
Odd flex but okay
Since the Availability of GPUs are non existent
Even bigger brain, buy a tesla, get the gpu from that
Can someone help me I have to buy prebuilt with insurance and monitor with $1000 for my boss.
For what task?
buy a gpu and steal the gpu from the gpu
Lmao
Honestly, get him a Mac
It'll be more worth it.
Mostly Multi-Tasking and he expects high quality
He's not gonna get high quality for $1000
But multitasking, what type of multitasking? What programmes is he gonna be running?
Well by sounds of things they don't want dedicated gpu so that's pretty decent for no gpu
The programs aren't going to be very demanding
He wants a desktop and monitor I have a $1000 budget
Then have him get a macbook
He wants a 30-40inch and High quality with a $1000 dollar budget
I honestly don't know where to start
Maybe this plus a monitor
https://xoticpc.com/collections/g3-avenger/products/g3-avenger-optimal-ready-to-ship
The G3 Avenger will be the centerpiece of any room with its gorgeous tempered glass window. The front of the case also draws the eye in as its angular design is like nothing else on the market. These Desktops are prebuilt, meaning they out of our hands and into yours much faster. Allowing you to get the gear you need f
well
yes he has an enormous screen in his office and wants 30-40in monitor to complement that
hm
UW is not going to be cheap
@sour viper You sure they can't just get a decent tv?
You need to tell your boss to either up his budget or lower his demands.
I am just going to get him a 30inch
Would I be able to get one monitor and use my laptop as a second? Or it wouldn't work
I believe you can have your laptop cast to another monitor
It would, main need for a second monitor is just more screen space so you can watch chat and such.
So as long as you can have your laptop open to chat
you'll be good
Well, also depends on streaming software
but if you're not doing anything fancy
it'd be fine
I will be running OBS at the most
does $200 30inch monitor to $800 desktop sound good for a $1000 dollar budget
would you not be better getting a machine with like a 10700?
Does he already have keyboard and mouse?
yes
but if its just office work
truly is
the i7 would be better than a ryzen 3 imo for an office system
He likes to open every program possible while working
hm
pretty hard to look at..
Your boss doesn't sound very efficient
going to be weird finding a prebuilt config for it
But not my space to judge
For now, this is still an option @sour viper
https://xoticpc.com/collections/g3-avenger/products/g3-avenger-optimal-ready-to-ship
The G3 Avenger will be the centerpiece of any room with its gorgeous tempered glass window. The front of the case also draws the eye in as its angular design is like nothing else on the market. These Desktops are prebuilt, meaning they out of our hands and into yours much faster. Allowing you to get the gear you need f
it's not great
but it's usable
I just don't understand why he won't go for macbook
Reasonable price for what it is
right.
He is being very particular about wanting a curved screen, my goodness I almost forgot
hm
Bruh
cost is gonna go up
30inch, curved, UW monitor
this might be the cheapest curved 30+in monitor
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16824475054
Is there even curved 30" 16:9 monitors?
y e s
Oh, I haven't seen one before, that's why I aksed
do you know what I would be looking for $1000 on a Imac
One sec
the macbook air is 1k
slap on some thermal pads and it's basically a pro
mac mini is $700 i think
kinda really small for their needs tho
dunno how 8gb of ram is gonna do if they do a lot of programs
but
Whats better that iMac the G3 avenger with the Msi monitor
prob fine
I honestly wouldn't resend either, but between, price accessibility and usability, probably the best thing for $1000 that his boss needs
No curved 30" monitor
true.
I will offer him to buy the iMac or g3 avenger
how would i upgrade the ram on the g3 you showed me
take side panel off, and you can access the ram slots
the usual open latch, take sticks out, and put new sticks back in
Do they offer warranty
thank you guys I will let you know how it goes
hmmm
please don't
no?
First, that build just doesn't seem right in a H510 (cooling would be nice), second, 900$ for the 3070
i mean is it badd???
Even like Redux and xotic only charge like 700$ for a 3070
i mean its a guaranteed gpu
i think its a lil overpriced
overall price dont seem too bad for these days
lemme pull that config up in xotic
ig
xotic is a good prebuilt company btw
Basically same price, but you get a lot more options on other customization on xotic @soft arch
https://xoticpc.com/collections/gx11-dynamic/products/gx11-dynamic-x570?conf=368368
and also the price is driven up because the o11 prebuilt is the first one xotic offers Ryzen on
for some reason
ryzen expensive
lemme check redux tho
xotic is more quality but higher price
redux is worse I think
ah 5600x not avaliable on redux
is it?
thought I choose 3600mhz
oh lmao
trident z is the 3866mhz kit
but 100$ more
Eh, they do offer a lot of quality tho, I doubt NZXT has anything near lifetime support and lifetime free labor on top of 5 year part replacement
You know, if I didn't already have some parts bought... at this point I would just get a prebuilt. But I have a case and fans I don't want to waste.
fair
o11 boi
@soft arch oh and I believe that xotic config includes an O11 with all fan slots filled
might be part of the reason for why it was close to NZXT pricing
maybe
I have a Phantek case I bought last year that I really liked. (Back when my plan was to purchase the parts and do the build over the summer.) But, no. I had to listen to the advice here to wait on GPU buying... now I'm in the limbo of I don't know if I'll ever finish the build.
lmao it comes with a lighting kit...?
Well, maybe you'll get something from shuffle or bb drop
lighting kits are like 10 bucks on nzxt
I know 3070s and up are more than I'm wiling to pay for. I'm not willing to spend more on a GPU than what a 2060 Super cost last year before the shortages.
just get a placeholder gpu for now i'd say
I've never seen a prebuilt that comes with a lighting kit lel
(Because I was gonna get a 2060 Super last year.)
anyways this is a fun policy "When you buy a desktop computer from XOTIC PC you have the opportunity to upgrade your computer within the 1st year of the warranty period. We do this by taking a trade-in of your XOTIC PC components and you only pay the difference between the old and new components. XOTIC PC will cover all labor and testing free of charge for being an XOTIC PC customer."
oh then just get the worst gpu possible and then change it out for msrp
So 400$?
@cold sorrel You could try the EVGA queue thing for the 330$ msrp 3060
but prob a lot of people already thought of that
the 3080 is so marked up š©
i wanted to get it and then the price went over 1k
sometimes wegg abs prebuilts aren't marked up too much
I'll keep trying the shuffles, but today's shuffle was crap 'cause I ain't paying $500 for a 3060. That's ridiculous.
Not bad at all actually @soft arch
https://www.newegg.com/abs-ali502/p/N82E16883360097
It even has a z590 elite ax
tho ram is slightly lacking
fair
:(
Well it starts
nice
that better says GX on the PSU and not FX
good
fx had tripping issues
Probably gonna do 4.7 all core
If I do succeed in scoring a 3060 at some point, what size power supply should I look at buying? I have a decent 650W model in my wishlist, but that might need to change now.
This pc has taken months to acquire
But I'm glad to say everything was bought at MSRP from verified retailers, nothing was bought from scalpers ^-^
Nice!
Any of you guys have a second pc for streaming? Is it worth it?
Eh. Not really unless you're streaming console too, or you have an AMD GPU. Nvidia Encoder is great for streaming.
I am losing 50-100 fps when Streamlabs is just open. Not even when streaming.
Thats why I ask
I just messed up my old pc somehow. I think I hit the reset switch and now it won't boot up or display any hdmi signal
So after my friend helped me put my system together, we booted it up and one of two things would happen after about running for 5 mins:
- A watchdog error
- The entire screen freezes, forcing us to restart.
This is my parts list, and my graphics card is a gtx 970.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/DrfN7X
What GPU are you using and what encoder is streamlabs set to?
Flip the power off. Reset is only a power cycle.
2080ti, 3900x, Nvenc new. I am running in admin mode. I have like 2 sources and 5 scenes altogether.
I turned it on and off multiple times. I have to unplug it everytime because the power button won't work now
The pc is old and buggy so im not suprised
CMOS clear usually helps with that, and full power drain
What is a cmo
Unplug the computer, remove the small flat battery from the motherboard, hold power button for 60 seconds, wait 10 minutes, put the battery back in and plug in computer.
This will reset all of your hardware settings and drain the power in the system.
What does the battery look like
Do you have any other overlays turned on? They don't even have to be active to interfere. Possible culprits include MSI afterburner and Nvidia overlay.
Flat, round, silver. Usually located near the PCI slots that the GPU goes into.
CPU or GPU watchdog? That usually indicated temperature or driver issues.
I'm not sure. It gave me a sad face blue screen before and said "watchdog_timeout" I think? But it hasn't done that anymore and now just freezes after 5-10 minutes, even with no programs running or doing anything.
I just sit with the clock open watching the seconds tick by to see if it freezes and it does. In fact, it froze between the time I sent my last message and seeing your reply.
Ok thanks
Go to C:\Windows\Minidump and DM me the files located in there.
There's no personal info saved in these, purely diagnostic
Ok, can do š
I'm not sure if I'll have enough time to send them before it freezes again, but I'll try
Try to copy it to a USB or something and send it from another computer or your phone
I checked task manager and neither of those are on
If you press alt-z does the nvidia overlay come up?
Welp, now I just gotta wait ten minutes to see if I'm screwed
Some motherboards hide it around the I/O
I've seen it hidden in with the IO on some boards.
It is, but instant replay is off
where is it under task manager?
Go into GeForce Experience, Settings, toggle In-Game Overlay to off
Y'all think this is worth buying for 1,200$
I turned it off and when streamlabs is on, I get 150fps. Once I close it, I get 210fps. Crazy. @potent portal
I forgot, do the mobo standoffs come with the case box or the mobo box
Usually the case, in a baggie with zip ties and other random screws, often tucked in a drive bay
Yeah I just had a bag from the mobo that looked like standoffs and the case which i knew were standoffs
Just wanted to double check
A 3800X and 2060 for $1200? Not really worth that, but if you can't find a better deal you could do it. Not a lot of storage and really bad memory if that's the max speed.
Ah ok many thanks!!
I feel so dumb its not even funny
I forgot to plug in my motherboard power
No
The memory looks awful and the storage as well
I wouldn't rly care about those as much as cpu and gpu, as those are the big portions of build
Still a bad deal
Yeah 2060 oof
i mean 2060 still a decent enough card for most ppl, just not for 1200 for the pc
My friends buddy wants a pc to play fortnite in āperformance modeā at 144fps and record at that FPS, could someone make me a pc part picker to send to my bud to send to him?
Now I donāt play fortnite but I would assume performance mode is lowest settings
I can ask him 1 sec
@wanton cliff this is what he sent me.
oh idk
And also said āit makes it run better, so ye most settings are low but it still looks good & you get hella framesā
I keep it on DX12 because RTX
why does he need more than 300 tho
fps
Who?
He said he wants 144
So I donāt know the guy, itās my best friends fortnite buddy, everyone in that group swapped to pc and now he wants to as well, my buddy has the same build i am building Monday, (3900x 1060 3gb) but his mom said āshe would buy it if it is cheap, I donāt know what that budget is but letās shoot for as low as possible but can complete those tasks
Update $700-$800 is all he said
Yup, no problem.
Iāll just send him this, thank you soo much. Itās hard to bring prices down because of this gpu issue.
My brothers got lucky, we were able to get decent builds for $500 a piece on Black Friday last year, took a while to get here because of a card shortage on the company side but yeah they made it
hold on im bringing it dow
down
hundred dollars down
wait does the P300 come with fans
Idk
Is a rx 570 capable of 144 FPS? If so maybe I could sell him one cheaper than those other options
Depends on the cpu but maybe
Iāll do a for note bench in a few hours @brittle tinsel
*fortnits
Donāt hurt yourself i know you mean fortnite
Yeah
Yeah
I hate it
Few hours cause Iām playing warzone and need to download it again
Alright just tag or dm me when you do
what do i need to install a motherboard
A screwdriver
but how does the motherboard stick to the case
With screws
what type of screws
You screw the motherboard in, line up the holes in the mobo with the case
The screws should have came with your case
my case only came with 2 fans
There should have been a box with a good few screws
no
lian li 205m
you know where your HDD bays are?
ye let me check
well?
none
you sure?
ye
can I have pictures?
there ya go
Does the fractal meshify come with drive brakecks?
wait theirs a lot of screws which ones do I use??
wdym
Like to mount hdd and ssd
the one that fits
idk tbh
....
look it up on the website
ok
small
I ordered it from new egg not their website
same product
this whole time I had preinstalled standoffs.....
@wanton cliff thank you
i assume is means 6 bays included for mounting hdds
i have an i5 8400 in my currint prebuilt
should upgrade
and get a 3060 ti whenever possible
What gpu do you have in the system or is it just integrated graphics?
Is it fine to build my pc standing on carpet
If there's no gpu already you might not be able to power a 3060 ti
It's okay, wouldn't recommend it but wont kill your components, just dont put your components on carpet, use an antistatic strap if you can
ok..
He's only standing on carpet, not advised but won't kill the components prob
How do i get windows for free
Just don't activate it
im gonna take out my cpu and make a whole new build
??
That is the only option that is allowed to be discussed here
???
What exactly are you asking here.
how do i get the windows operating system for free
GO here and download it, make a USB drive. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
ty
YW
Ahh okay so you're making new build then, not upgrading
Now I know upgrading to a 3900x and sticking with a 1060 3gb isnāt gonna help me much in modern warfare but will it at least get rid of the audio cutouts when my cpu times spike?
What CPU you have now?
In hand a 3900x waiting on the rest of the parts Monday
The one I used that died in surge was a i5 3570
Everything about the new pc in building is upgraded,
Old build was 3570 16gb ram
New one is 3900x 32gb ram, both are 10603gb unless my card died in the surge then I will be using a rx 570 that I have on hand
I could run dual rx 570s but I donāt think you can encode video with rx 570
The video encode would be for clipping gameplay with medal, the 3900x will be used to encode streams
@fossil cedar how dare you combine an rtx 3070 with ketchup and mustard cables
I'm sorry ĀÆ_(ć)_/ĀÆ
Non modular
laughs in an entire ketchup and mustard build
and to add to that, its a $14 china psu
At least mines evga jeez
SHUFFLE IS LIVE! https://www.newegg.com/product-shuffle
I'm totally going to enter shuffle and flip my 2070 to buy a 3070 if I win.
And... none of the GPUs today are in my price range. Though this two-fan ASUS 3070 sure is pretty.
https://www.newegg.com/asus-geforce-rtx-3070-ko-rtx3070-o8g-gamin/p/N82E16814126466?Item=N82E16814126466
Would that I had unlimited budget. But I think my family would murder me if I spent 700+ bucks on a single component. That's almost half of what I spent on this laptop, four and a half years ago.
Newegg shuffle is now in effect. Please enter while you still have the chance.
Yeah I'm whining a bit because today's shuffle is completely out of my budget. But I'm allowed to be annoyed at the current situation.
hmm
she asked me why i wanted multiple computers and i showed her my spreadsheet
lol
i am spending my own money though
she was confused how a computer can print money by existing
$700 graphics card is just an investment
would rather buy that than 6700xt for $750 lol
at least 6800xt is actually a decent improvement over last gen radeon
i kind of want the nzxt n7 b550 mobo...

it looks cute
Reason: Bad word usage
yeah nzxt mobos look hot
lol i can see your deleted message
hopefully with better vrm and chipset cooling than their cases
i agree
to be fair i don't think most cases have good vrm/chipset cooling

but i saw a review and it's actually not bad
overpriced for what it offers
but that's nzxt
yeah its like $230 or smt right
something like that
i have no reason to upgrade from my already fantastic looking b550 aorus elite
but... want
hey guys im having issues with microstutters recently dk whats up is there something i can run or osmething to see the issue?
Vision has same vrms as that
Ewwww
Jk itās actually ok, just like 60+$ too much
It's manufactured by asrock so it won't go on fire this time
yeah I saw the asrock bios
vision mobos expensive
If Iām mounting an aio to the top of my case should I get a 360mm or a 240mm
Either will be fine unless you have a HEDT CPU or something
@muted patio Iām sorry Iām kinda new to pc building whatās HEDT CPU
high End Desk Top, like a 9980X or something
If you don't have don't worry about it lol
Oh yeah no just a 5600x
ez to cool
no
damn
Alright thank you that saves me a couple bucks
Oh another question I want a white aio under 150$ is deepcools castle line any good or is there a better option
So high end desktop need custom loop water cooling ?
didnt say that
NOPE
no
Put Intel stock cooler on Xeon W3175X
how do i test latency
Anyone know a good gpu riser card? I have a EVGA xc 2070S, might be getting a 3060/3060ti.
https://www.newegg.com/black-metallic-gear-neo-qube-dual-chamber-atx-mid-tower/p/N82E16811700008?Item=N82E16811700008&Source=socialshare&cm_mmc=snc-social-_-sr-_-11-700-008-_-03262021
May be getting this case as well.
My current case is a 4000D Airflow
3060 wont be an upgrade, 3060ti will be like 10% better so im not sure if it is worth upgrading for it maybe consider getting 3070/3080 if you can get them at msrp.
And the 4000d airflow is good i dont think you will need to change it.
More fans with the neo and more viewing space
I'll also have to room to put up a riser card
Oh i thought you said you are upgrading from 2070s not running duel setup system my bad
I'm running a single
I'm running dual monitor. gaming, netflix, streaming, etc
@robust lake
Neither one of those options will be a large upgrade from the 2070S
eugh a lot of the gaming pcs on ebay look a lot like scams
and i bet they are
where can i buy used computers anyways
You donāt
well its hard to get new parts
because of some shortage
so why just buy a computer used, it'll save me money too
Buy a cheap laptop and use GeForce Now
thats what im using now but i want an actual PC that can play games that arent on GeForce Now
can someone help, my games keep crashing and when they crash, my whole computer freezes for a bit, and then i see some artifacts, and most of the time, closing the game doesnt fully help the problem, so i have to restart a pc, i have a rx 470, and also when it crashes i have a weird beeping noise
800 dollars oof
Thoughts on the Corsair SP Elite fans, versus LL and QL fans?
b
The lls and qls have the most rgb
specs are around the same
i think
sps move more air but not pwn
I think the Arctic P12s are better but I could be wrong
Donāt know too much about case fans
@wind osprey
I think artic p12s perform slightly better but don't think you'll notice that much
ok thnx
what is your budget and use case?
video editing and lots of multitasking
budget?
over $1000
and under?
I need it to have warranty
Not quadro smh
around $3000 for the budget
In that case you can get a nzxt build creator for about 3.5k with a 3090 i believe
I turned off VSync in the Witcher and now I get 3590 FPS
lmao thats a lot of frames there buddy
How your cpu even manage that many frames
$600-$650
Light gaming. maybe GTA V, Doom Eternal, Minecraft, etc.
not really demanding games
replaced the motherboard so there would be no compat issues
these games all run pretty well on the 3400g as far as im aware
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7CyR9N something like this would be ideal if you can get your hands on a 1650s
