Mhmm
MX4 is fine for everything
Not the best tho
I don't know much about paste other than x method
Show me the difference between that and a high end paste. Maybe 1-3C at best
yeah I mean I might dip into overclocking but I'm not going to try and run this thing at it's maximum possible potential
The only method I'll ever use for a normal ihs is x method
Or if some call it rice method
Maybe the paste was too old, sitting on the shelf too long
Still could be too old
Dried out before a year
Sitting in the warehouse
Maybe
I used the Pea on my AMD, cools just fine
Same
I only use pea method
I mean someone here said X was better due to the spread out of the chiplets in AMD chips
which makes sense
Reaches all the corners
but idk if it'd make that much of a difference
Nah anthing works fine
Not really
It doesn't
What really does though
As long as it spreads out enough
Offset as in certain parts have more contact with the chip than others?
Offset as in the CPU cooler isn't centered on the CPU
Chiplet location
Aren't parts of cpu hotter?
yeah, figured
Hence the offset
mhm where the chiplets are
makes sense, but yeah my 5900x is idling at 37 on each core rn
That's p decent
not as good as it should be though
The only thing an idle temp is good for is bragging rights
cinebenched it earlier
forgot to record temps
I think it hit high 70s
Prime 95 it
Lol

Cinebench is an OK load, Prime 95 small FFT will make it hurt
yeah I'll try that tomorrow after I apply the mx4
with what cooler?
Idle temps mean nothing until you forgot to screw the cooler in all the way and you're idling at 90
corsair's h150i 360mm AIO @muted patio
got an exhaust 120 mm and three 120mm side intakes too
I used to idle high 50s with my stock cooler fully screwed in and properly installed
Stock speeds on cpu
Plug pump into aio header
ima dip now cause I'm tried after hours of troubleshooting last night and earlier today
That'll make it 100 full time
I have a Corsair CX650F with RGB. I have configured the ARGB color settings in my motherboard's software, but I also have a fan that I want to configure the RGB on but there's no more argb headers on my motherboard.
If I unplug the ARGB header on my PSU from the motherboard, will it keep the color setting i configured it to, or will it revert to its default rainbow?
yeah I can also control the pump via corsair's icue
Maniac in my name bruh
Oh ok
My 4790 idles at like 30 I think? Under an avc basic extruded cooler
Maybe I'm remembering wrong
Been a long time since I've used my pc
Stealth cooler does suck
Regular 80 to 83 when gaming on power saving mode lmao
Which limits tdp to 45w
mhmm
maybe they call it stealth since you cantt even tell theres a cooler doing anything in terms of temps lmao
I just did this will it affect my aio?
you striped out the hole?
you use the screw that came with it?
correct
there’s is 8 mounting screws
ok
on the manual it says screw them here
when I screw it in it won’t go in
If I keep trying the screw would strip
Is this true about ENERMAX Revolution D.F. 850W 80 Plus Gold 850W, Full Modular, Multi Rail, 7 Year Warranty, Power Supply, ERF850EWT
how do we know if they got defective ones
That can happen with any power supply. Honestly, they probably plugged something in wrong and didn't know it
I don’t, I’m reading a new egg review
dont trust any review
user reviews are terrible sources of information
I understand a doa but that’s replaceable what worries me is the part about fried parts
Then don't get any power supply
vintage what tier is that psu?
If you literally google any power supply you'll find bad reviews
mhmm
It's Tier A, Top of the Line for it's class
damn
thats p good
im sure you can find bad reviews on nice psus like a rm850x
or a nice amp
Well I can’t power my pc with a hamster
bad reviews are everywhere
Or can I?
bruh
Lol
Then get a good power supply like that one and forget about it
mhmm
That review specifically sounds like they didn't know how to hook it up right, and they probably used the 6+2 pin in the 4+4 slot
mhmm
hi can nyone help me wit a 1k pc build all peripherals included
With a monitor, KB and mouse? that's tight.
hmmm
1k usd?
ye
hmmm
ok
Cad market is different, so let's start with 1.4k cad build
yeah
mr1 gotta remember tax tho
so mebbe like under 1.3k
idk what tax is where they are
13 % for me :/
Oh fun
13% fun fun
$634 with monitor. Just needs GPU, Mouse and KB https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gKHR8J
Eh, $700, didn't realize case had no price
aight well i can overspend usin my mommas crdit card
any 3060 ti 1440p build?
or j 1440p in general at a fair price
cant find that psu in cad version of pcpp
throw in a 3060ti with that build and its good enough
thermal take 600w id good
no
segotep better
thermaltake psus are bombs
oh

woah no need lol
Are corsair cxm bronze psu’s good?
not the best
Hm, 3060ti build WITH monitor might be out of reach for moi, 1200$ for build without monitor
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/zmPKLP
If you want a modular PSU
CX is better than CXM?
yes
Or should I just go ahead with RMX?
t force vulcan 3200 c16 is five CAD more, may be better value
What wattage?
I hate
Personal experiences, personal grudge
But 3000c16 and 3200c16 is really barely different
yeah
my personal grudge is because my kit didn't
lil bit of dif
Im gonna run 3600 + 1660 super, so I was thinking 550 wattage is good enough
oh yeah ez
10400F and B560 is faster and cheaper. 😉
I'm too tired to type right, I'm going to be off
Unless you already have the parts
Yeah I managed to get a 1660 super before it was sold out and before they upped the prices
nice
I got it for $300 😬
usd?
Cad
Yeah its not $400
mhmm
Now*
alot of ppl are buying them for like 400usd rn
also @stoic island why do you hate team ram so much?
dont they use sk hynix modules?
mostly?
Bargain bin stuff like Corsair lpx
hmm
Nothing good until you get to the high end kits
but bin doesnt matter if you dont need to oc past rated right?
And just like Corsair lpx, problems with not reaching rated xmp. ;)
What’s this talk about a verified gamer program from Linus?
Iirc something about Linus selling 30xx GPUs to people at MSRP to get around bots
@stoic island so i had a little idea, but idk if its a good one, can i tell you about it?
Sure
Hmm I need to find out how to enter
Update on the Verified Actual Gamer program!
We need a bit more time to make sure that the program works as intended! It's being delayed until next week.
We want to do everything in our power to make sure these parts get into the hands of Verified, Actual Gamers :)
Sneak peak ; )

I just know ryo was trying to do something with it as he was looking for a 3080
basically so the problem is the 3080's im getting are going to be out of stock soon in the store im in because alot of ppl want them, and if im getting the lian li case im going to have 2 weeks, which would mean that the graphics cards would be finished, i thought the idea, i have a NZXT S340 case, what if i just get all the parts for my new computer, build in it, and then when the Lian li case arrives, i would take the parts out of the S340 case, and then put them in the lian li case
Says 9 on the box so I'd assume that or the 5950X
When zoomed the label is blurry but it looks like 5900x on the top white label
Hm, well, switching cases is quite annoying, keep that in mind, it's basically building the pc all over again, plus a disassembly step, but if you have an iGPU or a separate gpu you could boot with before you get the 3080, that could work
I tried zooming in too, quality is too low to tell for sure (thanks twitter compression)
yeah so the thing is, in order to buy the 3080, i need to build a new pc, i cant just take it, thats how it is in egypt..
Uh, can you explain more?
like, i cant just walk in say i want a 3080 and buy it and leave, if i want to buy the 3080, you have to build a whole computer in order to buy it
which is annoying
Interesting, so they require you to buy other parts at the same time?
That seems weird all right, you can't even do international shipping?
yeah exactly
Ah
if i want to buy a 3080 i need to buy other parts
because there isnt many in egypt so thats why they do that
Makes sense in a strange sort of way. You can't just buy some RAM with it, it needs to be a nearly complete computer?
Well, the question now would be if you would have an use for another system (assuming you have to build a new system on top of the "current" system due to requirements in buying).
nah like, i need to buy a whole system, like motherboard, cpu, memory, ssd, power supply etc.
Oof
Because if you don't have anything you could do with a second pc, that just sounds like a huge pain to build something now and build another one later, and seems like a waste of some money.
ok so basically the pc that i currently have, ill change the case and everything like i told you before, ima change case, ssd, powersupply but keeping the cpu and cooler, (basically because i told him i want to buy 2 3080's he told you have to build a new pc in order to get the first gpu, and ill give you the other gpu without building a second system) so what im doing is the pc i currently have im going to give it to my brother and put the 3080 in it, and then i was thinking that i would build my other computer in the case i currently have, Which is the S340, and then when the lian li arrives im going to put the parts in the lian li case
So, current build, with S340 case, goes to brother? Or so you have 2 different "current builds", where one is going to your brother, and the other, with the S340 case, is staying with you?
And also, what is the timing on the GPU buying? Are you being delayed by 2 weeks for the GPU or the case?
no so, i currently have a pc with the S340 case, im going to get a new case for my brother, so basically the the S340 will be empty, i thought of buying a new case and then when the lian li case arrives i would put the parts in it, but i thought that would be a waste of money, so what im thinking is that i buy the parts build it in the S340 and then when the lian li arrives ill just take them out of the S340 and put them in the lian li
for the case
Yea using S340 as a temporary case can work for a week or two
btw the Suprim X 3080 is good right?
Just keep in mind temps might not be great, and yes, S340 should hold ATX
im getting a Suprim X, and my bro is getting a gaming x trio
Suprim x is good spec wise, but generally silly price wise
yeah i know, thats why im buying the lian li case because ik that S340 is not going to be great at all
It's basically just a gaming x trio or any high end tri fan card
But in USD, it's like 400$ above everything else, which makes it a silly choice in the US
yeah it is expensive, but those are the only 2 they have, those are the last 2 graphics card's they have, so i thought ima take the suprim x since its the better card, and the gaming x will be for my brother
btw do you know if a 360mm aio cooler can fit in the s340?
Fair, and I really doubt it, I can check tho
because if that 360mm cooler doesnt fit then that would be a big problem
God nzxt's page is annoying
Most likely won't fit
Looks like 280mm max front, 140mm max top
ok so thats a problem because im going to get a 360mm cooler
I don't understand how NZXT and Corsair got so big when they can't even make a proper spec page >:(
Well, what cpu again?
ryzen 9 5900x
Hm
would the cpu die if i dont put a cooler at all for atleast 2 or more weeks?
Very annoying, you won't be able to use it without a cooler
A 5900x runs way too hot to be used without a cooler
well dang
There's a janky option of taking the side panel off and positioning the rad somewhere outside the case where the radiator is still above the pump/block
id be afraid to do that
Or, try and find a placeholder air cooler that'd fit, which I can't find cpu cooler compatibility specs easily because nzxt doesn't have a specs page that I can see on mobile
so you think i should buy a cheap case until the lian li arrives?
Oh I finally found it
Does@amd really have usb connection problems right now?
161mm case clearance, I'd probably just get a decent air cooler as a placeholder
My buddy has amd and b550 and had no problem
@brittle tinsel fix came out recently, and the usb issue was rare to begin with
That was an agesa update it says bios fix isn’t till April
yeah but i dont really want to put thermal paste on the cpu with that aircooler, and then when the lian li arrives i would remove the cooler and remove the thermal paste
You sure? Pretty sure I saw beta 1.2.0.2 bios being released for some boards a few days ago
Beta bios would make sense
Well, isopropyl alcohol can remove thermal paste nicely, there's also some wipes you could buy, you might be able to get most of it off with a clean cloth even, it's your choice though.
Both are options, I'll be off for now
alright but what about this case for example
Cooler Master MasterBox MB501L Mid Tower Case
its cheap
I think it said full release fix would be around April than
Maybe not

Would a pcie capture card work the same as a Nvidia encoder?
I was gonna use my gtx 1060 3gb as an encoder gpu and my 30 series as the gaming card but my pc died and may have taking the gpu with it
Capture card is better than using nvenc because then the GPU can focus more on frames and less on streaming
No like use the second card as an encoder and the main card for gaming
Are DDR2 ram chips still good as far as general use goes? Or should I upgrade to 3 or 4?
The second card would have no purpose other than encoder
But would a capture card be the same
DDR2 I'd only recommend for Windows Vista, maybe 7
A second GPU doing the encoding is basically a capture card at that point
Ah
Ok
Well hopefully it’s not dead if it is maybe a capture card is cheaper than another gpu
I have an old computer and I’m basically starting over. I didn’t realize how old until I saw AMD II athlon cpu. Lol
Oh Athlon were fun to overclock back in the day.
Not much use for current gaming, but if you install an old copy of Linux it would still be usable as a desktop or minecraft server
Ubuntu 14.04 is still in long-term support, and you could probably run 16.04 next year once 14.04 is out of support
@stoic island is the SP120 fans from corsair okay?
Hello wizards of the pc build world
Good cable extensions Brand🤔🤔
Cablemod?
So I would be better off going with intel or something
🤏 Can I get a little help finding a Laptop here plz?
👀 - looking for a unit that will allow future upgrades: whether it be CPU / RAM / HD
- would like it to have the capability to have 2 HD slots (one for a mid-sized slim-SSD & one for a good-sized traditional-HDD)
*but it doesn't have to come with both out of the box, just as long there is room & ports for both at the same time!
- it would also be great if it had 2 slots for off-board RAM-cards, but an on-board RAM of 8 would be fine as long as it has an open slot for expansion (also would like the "max" RAM the unit could handle to be at least 32)
- Lastly it would also be Great if the graphics card was independent of the motherboard, though I am willing to allow "memory-sharing"
Any Suggestions? 😅 👍
@cloud niche need to know budget and use case
budget?
probs something from clevo if youre looking for expandability, their laptops are nuts lmao
xotic is my favorite reseller
laptop ... not PC 😓
and?
they still cost money
lol
and they still have different use cases
What you guys think of the Aorus C300G case?
@cloud niche Yes, budget and use case is extremely important for laptops too, there's vastly different options at different price points, and different workloads lead to different components being hit
i see aorus and i say no
Shush, hater
First impression: H510 with an aorus logo
bad case made worse by gigabyte
Wait there's not even any side intakes like h510....?
Yeah there is
Unless I'm blind, there's no intake there that I can see?
Just the gaps at the front
No sides
Other side you dingus
??
that case looks garb

Wait, but I've seen this case with vents
It's supposed to have diagonal slots on both sides
Oh, I see
It's the C300W that has the vents
Lol
The one that has that ugly plexiglass BS
🤮
Well, you could always intake through the top of the case too, its just not ideal
You could exhaust out the back still
What are we talking about now
Aorus C300
So, air mostly hits cpu cooler and gpu pcb, and gets forced out through the PCIe brackets...?
Yup
Or, air just goes through CPU cooler, pulled out by back fan
So gpu gets no fresh air
Thermal throttling is fine🙂
...

Same with the H510
weird
It would also be cool if corsairs QL fans pushed more than 42CFM
Their SP fans push 52CFM, but they not that Smexy
You know what looks cool? A functional case 😆
Nah
literally h510 clone
Yes
coughs in Iridium
ew
coughs in bromite
@stoic island use bromite
Bromite is a Chromium fork with ad blocking and enhanced privacy; take back your browser
Wat
Maybe I'll try
Really annoying I don't have my google bookmarks tho :(
- New Question: Anyone ever Turn their "old" computer fans into like a "Desktop Fan" for moving air across your desk + fun + cooling you? say like a line of 4-8 fans set up behind the monitor and blowing towards you? 🤔
🥶 ⁉️
no
Just reuse them in a new case
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cK7pnL are these good for a gaming pc, I have the ram the hard drive and the graphics card already. (Ping me)
What gpu you have and what psu you getting?
The Radeon RX 570 and... oh forgot the psu
The rx 570 a placeholder card till prices get reasonable i hope?
wattage?
220-400?
No
Doesn't really matter I guess. fully modular that will support upgrades to a 3070 https://smile.amazon.com/Segotep-Supply-Certified-Gaming-Fully-Modular/dp/B0832F6NS8/ref=sr_1_2?crid=66WQ4FBBML3T&dchild=1&keywords=segotep+650w&qid=1615740542&sprefix=segotep+%2Caps%2C246&sr=8-2
Not with a i7
At least 650 depending on what card you gonna upgrade to
Or 3060TI comfortably
I don't know what I'm going to upgrade to the prices are so high
When they stabilise, well I'd say the 650w vintage gave you
Yeah, that Segotep is top of the Tier for it's class and will support abything except a 3080/3090
But don't cheap out on a psu don't even bother buying any psu under 500w even for a budget build @sharp temple
It's not on PCPP
Pcpp?
Ohh so
Pc part picker
Just get on Amazon
Yeah, take the link I gave you and add the custom part
There's a Custom Part button at the bottom
Click it and copy the link into the box that pops up
It doesn't work for everything though
but you can also manually add parts with pricing and links
I have a beef with those COoler Master AIO's. Pumps can leak if you aren't super careful with them
Also, spend another $5 for an NVME and get a much faster drive https://smile.amazon.com/Mushkin-Pilot-Encryption-Internal-MKNSSDPE1TB-D8/dp/B07RD1W6SB/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=Mushkin+Pilot+E&qid=1615740950&sr=8-1
SN550 is kinda poopy
Is it reliable?
Someone said that the V2 it's fixed
Oh the price raised from when I added that western digital one I don't want to spend that much money like $60-80
What western digital one? And did you remember to take out the old drive
The one I had in the parts list had it's price raised since I added it... I might have to spend more money if I should get a 1TB NVME
? Send the list
damn i am getting u banned
You aren't getting anyone banned
uk the admin is my best friends
Sure
Ya nah
Anyways how does that list look @muted patio
good to me. Wife has that board with a 10600k
Check Newegg CPU bundles
Sometimes they have 10600/10700 with a board for a discount
They're good stuff
@void depot never would i have thought that i would see a fate wallpaper being used here
you convinced me to switch. i had at one point the samsung 970 m.2.. then you showed me the better life that is mushkin
Samsung is overpriced for what you get
Doesn't look like it
Pcpartpickeris the best
oh its gold to me.
How do I delete my face pic. Lol new to discord
Settings
Edit your post and delete the image
And u could search it up
Click the pencil
Thank you
Pencil
Or if on mobile hold on the post
settings (little gear at the bottom left) then click your image and 'change avatar'.
Oh you meant profile pic? XD
eh i assumed that heheh
I thought you meant your post in #build-pics
That was a fail it deleted the whole post and wouldn't let me add the build pic/vid back so I had to start over. Lol I did mean post pic
The 4 pin connector on my 24 pin connector won’t fit in
Put it in a the same time or before the 20 pin
They're keyed together so it needs to go in first or at the same time
I have a problem with my RGB , one of the LEDS in every rgb product is a different color from the color it’s supposed to be
Yeah those usually have to go on first
Brand?
I’m using polychrome sync with my Asrock board , msi fans , phanteks fans and case oh and gskill ram
@muted patio Hey, do you know of a good Bluetooth closed face helmet for motorcycles?
Hey anyone know why my friends can hear like a wave sorta sound from my mic
Like background noise
Run your helmet plus a Sena product. That's what I run.
No pop filter
It’s a headset mic
They cam have pop filters
Would that help? The issue
Another issue I have is when I use my splitter to connect the headset to the pc my friends hear static
A wave sound?
Pc fans that’s about it
Bad cable
That's probably you literally breathing on the mic from your nose lol
If there's static sound, you have a bad connection
They hear it
Hold your breath and see if it goes away
The static sound is there because of my splitter cable o think
Yeah, bad splitter, bad cable, or bad connection
But the background noise occurs when I connect the mic via my PS4 controller
What headset are you using?
Astro A10
Or sometimes I use my Apple earphones
If I connect my earphones there’s an echo
@muted patio what was I supposed to do in nzxt cam again?
Well the apple earphones will definitely cause trouble
But those A10s should be fine
Any idea what the echo is usually caused by
Many many things
It could be from your headset volume being to high and your mic is picking up the sound
I can’t wear overhead headsets for too long that’s why I wanna try using earphones
Find a more comfortable pair of headphones
My volume is always very low so I don’t think it’ll be that
Nah it’s not about the headphones I have a massive cut on my head from football
So it just gets uncomfortable
But if you use those apple earpods, you're always gonna have problems with them
Can I sorta get a mic on its own?
Then use earphones for sound?
I’ve seen those big mics but is there not something smaller?
You can get a studio condenser mic for like $50
uh, I have no idea what we talked about.
Looking for something smaller than that
If that’s a thing
Only thing I can really suggest dude is a headset, but you said you have a cut on your head, so you can't wear them right now
Even with my headset now there’s too many issues background noise static always something
It recently started occurring too
Used to be fine
I might have done something wrong in the settings idk
Like I said, it could be bad splitter, bad cable, or bad connection
How long ha e you been using this headset?
Wireless PS4 controller?
For ages now
Ye but I connected it via usb cable
So if I connected the headset into the PS4 jack there’s background noise
Connect with splitter there’s static
What’s confusing is these issues recently started
Chances are you may just need to get a new headset man, they don't typically last forever, especially with common use
Ahhh I see
I bought a cheap splitter so I think that’s why there’s static
My pc is only a couple months old too
Astro A10 are good headset, but they're not high quality
If your budget allows for one, I'd get maybe a higher quality headset, I personally use Astro A50s, and Corsair Virtuoso RGB SE
Is a usb connection better than a 3.5m jack
Not usually, sound is designed to travel through Audio Jacks, not so much usb.
@muted patio What you think of this one?
Ahhh I see
I mean, do you have any external amp dac you can test with?
What’s that?
It's possible it's just noise from the mobo affecting onboard sound chip
Simplest one is an apple dongle
No no I’m on pc
Or Meizu dongle
I’m on a pc
Oh?
Okay
I use the PS4 controller
I see
What does this mean
Oh wait, try not daisy chaining it then
And how can I do it
Plug your headset straight into your pc
It's extra stuff to buy if you don't have any, so preferably not doing that for now.
Instead of through the controller
What happens if you plug directly into the pc?
My friends hear static when I do that
So maybe the splitter is bad?
Possibly
Your friends hear static?
Yes
Through your mic?
Everytime I speak
Ray Tracing voice?
Do I need rtx gpu for that?
@sharp tundra Nvidia's noise canceling thing
Any Nvidia gpu from pascal up I believe
I know some people did it on a 980
Oh nvm then
These issues only recently started happening
IDK anything about Sena helmets.
I might have changed something on my sound settings
Oh, just thier Bluetooth stuff?
Btw, that's why usb usually means there's a dedicated dac for usb headphones/headsets in the usb adapter.
Every software you use that uses your audio, as in, discord and games
Reset all settings to default
How do i do that
I wanna reset the sound settings so it’s like I just switched on my pc for the first time
Manually do it one by one, unless you want to do drastic measures like clean install windows again, there's no easy way to do it.
So just go onto the apps and do it that way
Can i connect my corsair RGB hub of my sp120 RGB pro to the usb of my Corsair commander pro?
@stoic island is the SP120 corsair fans good?
@muted patio I may just get that helmet that I sent you, it has a 1440p30FPS or 1080p60fps camera, built in Bluetooth, built it Bluetooth Comms, built in FM Radio, build in voice control, meets all DOT regulations and is only $599
@earnest olive you there/
I'd say, they push a decent amount of air and are fairly sheap
corsair fans are overpriced as hell
And they have rgb
i avoid anything corsair except power supply
You realize DOT is basically self licensing, right?
i just bought the Lian Li O11D and Commander Pro from NewEgg, they will arrive like in 2 weeks but i want to ask you something, im going to get the SP120 fans, ill get 3x 3 fan packs, which are 9, so can you tell me what do i mount them to, like which is exhaust which is intake etc.
honestly, if i could have got my hands on LL120's or QL120's i would have bought them but there isnt any from the store im buying from, they only have SP120's
probably 3 side intake, 3 bottom intake, 3 top exhaust?
With the O11D, its probably best to intake through the bottom and side and exhaust out the top and back
having like 2 top exhaust and 1 back exhaust would probably be marginally better for airflow
but ain't gonna look as good
What is that supposed to mean?
i'd just do 3 top exhaust
It means anyone can make a helmet and claim DOT compliance
ECE and Snell are better, DOT is just meh
wait im confused, so your saying that Top which will have that AIO Cooler i have it as Exhaust, and side and bottom as intake?
It has ECE safety rating too
yes
Put AIO on side
aio top is best
Fresh air cool air coming across the fins
Just make sure the tube inlets are at the top of the case
This doesn't matter
Check tests
AIO top mount best for pump life
but the penalty is basically nothing anyways
And you still have I take from the bottom going right onto the gpu
i have my cpu aio mounted as top exhaust sucking in hot air from a 3070 and 3080 at the same time
still hits like 45C in gaming
ok, ik its a dumb thing to say or ask but, basically if for example im going to have the top as exhaust, ik the side of the exhaust is the one with the X on the back, but my question is am i supposed to have the exhaust part facing back or top
Also, AIO as intake means dust in the fins. AIO as exhaust is much less dust
It rather have that dust get caught in the fins than have it spread across all my other parts
do you mean like this? since the side and bottom are intake they are supposed to look like this in the case?
or is it supposed to be the other side?
For intake, motor bracket faces the inside of the case
For exhaust, motor bracket faces the outside of the case
Aka, back of fan
like in the photo correct
Yes
Those are side intakes, yes
so i should basically do the exact same thing as in the photo
I still think you should put AIO on side, since you will still have plenty of I take from the bottom for gpu and you'll have less dust in your system
You'll just have to clean your AIO more often
But then you got more dust in the system and hit gpu air running across the fins
btw vintage about the AIO tubes is it supposed to be on the right or on the left? or would it not matter?
It's up to you
Whichever way it fits
oh cool
Whatever you think looks best
Depending on the motherboard, tubes may not fit so close to ram
im getting the Asus Strix B550-F
Also, depending on the ram, he may not even be able to mount it on the top
Oh wait, nvm, there plenty of clearance
I forgot the o11d has a massive inside
yeah
btw im sorry but, since im getting a 5900x and the Asus Strix B550-F, which mounting bracket am i supposed to use?
in the ram, i should always put them in slot 2 and slot 4 yeah?
alright
Is Adorama a legit reliable company to buy from?
yes
A2/B2
No because most boards are that way
Will it affect anything?
Only if oyu plan on maxing out the sata ports on your board
Oh ok then
@little osprey It's a picture only channel. Need to edit your original post if you want to add specs. 😉
You can have text but only if the post includes pic
Should I not have realtek audio drivers? @muted patio @stoic island @sharp tundra
Realtek is for onboard
That's the High Definition Audio Device
Stock Windows driver
How do I get the enhancement tab on sounds
Even when my mic is on mute I can hear the white noise
Enhancement tab is for bass boost, etc
Well, yeah, that's kinda what gain does
Idk how to get rid of this white noise lol
Even when mic is muted I hear it
That’s kinda odd
Could be the cable or the mic itself. It's some kind of electrical noise
Don’t have any hard drives
Or GPU coil whine or the power supply itself
Even if I connected it into my PS4 controller I hear the white noise tho
Mhmm
My mic is on mute and I still hear it lol
@muted patio which is better, Top Fans Exhaust and side and bottom fans are Intake, or Top fans Intake and side and bottom are Exhaust?
Top exhaust always
Don't fight heat
heat rises
Top and back exhaust, side and bottom intake
@muted patio I assume you ride sports bikes?
ah ok, its because i see alot of people doing intake on side and bottom so im kinda confused
That's just............no
definitly dont do that
Trying to force air to do something it doesn't do naturally is oof
yurp
like that
thats bad right?
im assuming that pc wont stay with him very long yeah?
yeah but like the QL120 looks great on either sides so im confused on why he did it like that
Either for looks or they don't know better
yeah exactly
the latter
i cant tell you how many times ive seen peoples build on facebook, and im just like, "hey, your fans a facing the wrong way" and theyre like, "No their not, i know what im doing!" and they block me
lol
that's called willful ignorance
like "Hey, just trying to help you out."
"No, dont tell me how to build computers, i know how to do it, ive been doing it for 10 years
clearly theyve been doing it wrong for 10 years
i wont claim to be the best, but at least i know which way my fans should go, lol
Can't tell you how many mechanical screw ups I've fixed like that. But I've been doing it this way for 20 years! yes, you've been doing it wrong for 20 years and it still doesn't work. -_-
i had to force my grandpa to do somethings right when he was remodeling the bathroom, apart from not hiring a professional to begin with, or just letting me do it
like im no professional carpenter, but my uncle is, and i understand that type of stuff very well
and i understand Auto mechanics pretty well too
if im top mounting an aio in exhaust, does it matter whether i put the fans under (so they're visible inside the case) or on top of the rad?
I would put the fans under so they blow through rather than pull through
aight
😔
and two systems 😳
you can hold up to 18
yo is it ok if you put a hard drive with windows 10 from an old pc on a new pc
dont wanna pay $110 for windows 10 usb
no?
oops
it can hold 16 on the front panel alone
did math wrong
6 on top
frogot to add +8 from the front
4 on back
4 THICCCC rads
😳
2 thicc 480's up front, 1 thiccc 280 up top and one slim 240 in the back 😳
420 on top
it won't fit
yeah it will
ture
If I have the I5-8400 from like 4-5 years ago should I upgrade to the i7-10700k or should I keep it?
Upgrade
Cpu upgrade means a new motherboard too. I'd upgrade it
For what reason? @muted patio @fossil cedar
8400 slow and not multi threaded. It will be slow in modern gaming.
firstly you're going from 6 core 6 thread to 8 core 16 thread
It'll struggle with modern things
Which means
Clocks will be higher, just a better overall desktop experience
Faster and smoother and more game compatibility
not only is clock speed higher but the amount of work the CPU can do per clock also increased
IPC
Instructions Per Clock
Ok thanks
Yep
Looking at benchmarks
10700k is 30% faster single core
and a whopping 60% faster multi core
How can hdmi have ethernet built in
snap
the i5-10600K used to be like $300 lol
Killing stock before 11th gen gets here
I got my wifes 10600K and an Asus Z490 for less than $400 from Wegg
that cheap?
yeah
jeez
iirc it's
10400F $130, 10400 $150, 10600K $210, 10700 $230, 10700K $250, 9900K $250, 10850K $320, 10900 $320, 10900K $400
and you get a $20 discount on all if you buy a compatible mobo too
so could be a $110 10400F
dang
but they didn't have any b560 so i gave up the discount to buy a b560 from newegg
the i9-10850k definitely just beats the 3700x overall
needs a more expensive mobo/cooler tho
yea
3700x on stock cooler is probably comparable to 10850k on id-cooling se-224-xt as far as noise/thermals go
very good value
Yeah 10850k is such good value atm
my 3700x just runs the wraith prism it came with, no OC or PBO but does well in thermals. Haven't bothered changing the stock paste that came on the cooler yet either
pretty impressed TBH, even hitting it under 3d mark cpu testing it still sat comfy
IIRC I don't think any performance change with PBO on a 3700x is really worth it anyway, unless my info is outdated
pbo is pretty good at what it does and should give a perf bump
i've oced the 3700x to its limit on the stock cooler with arctic mx-4 paste
did fine in prime95 small ffts avx in quiet mode
85C peak overnight
nice
stock cooler is enough to get maximum performance out of the 3700x
I've got a couple of tubes of noctua NT-H1 I plan to repaste with at some stage, just haven't gotten back around to it.
I figured it would be fine for my first build. if i eventually move up to a 5000 series with some more power I might look to get a AIO
to clarify, I won't be using the whole tubes lol
perfection
beautiful.
needs more
actual photo of how they apply paste out of laptop factories
true
i've repasted a few laptops from different manufacturers
all of them have at least 10x the necessary thermal paste
it's like they got some guy to do it that loves ranch and they got the two confused.
all the sauce!
That's a feature very few things actually use, but most good quality cables that support HDMI 1.4 or higher have it available
Ice cream lol
i mean, if you run liquid nitrogen you could have thermal paste icecream
Forky's favorite treat
thats gigabrain
Just applied new thermal paste to my CPU, idle temps are ~40C, did I not put enough on 😬
with the preapplied it was high thirties on each core
Reason: Bad word usage
Somewhere between the size of a pea and the size of the tip of your pinky finger is plenty
I'd check mounting pressure then, make sure it's firmly screwed in and even on both sides
yeah alright
I'll tighten it a bit
Do smallfft for stress and heat, large is for errors
Yeah I ran small FFT too
got less hot
than large FFT
but kicked up each core to around 4.6 GHz
cinebench only got them up to 4.3 GHz
mhm
Stress tests get wacky without bios set multiplier
ima torture it again and see what temps it hits
yeah small FFT doesn't do nearly as much to it as far as heat and speed as large FFT does
it's at 53C rn and only clocking each core at base speed
slightly below actually
Lmao the cpu knows how hard it hits and downclocks itself
at least I've seen 4.6 on all cores before
that makes me happy
very good for all cores
and it only hit high 70s so
starting to think I did get decent silicon
My 5800X hits around there, maybe a little higher, on all core. I got it to 4.9 max boost, with a little effort could do more I think.
Most people struggle to get it to 4.8 but hey with no effort 4.6 is pretty good
wow, try and hit 5.0
if its stable ofc
Yeah getting it to do all cores faster than the rated boost speed can be... touchy. Single core is more important gaming anyway. If you need multicore just do 5950X.
You know, I might just push the PBO a bit more and see what I can do. Maybe play with base clock.
i thought 5900X was better for gaming?
Okay I got it to go at 4.7 GHz on all for a solid 10 seconds on large FFT
Right, 5900X for gaming but if you're doing all core loads like rendering 5950X
No idea how to overclock
so not gonna go there yet
but there is some sort of setting in the bios I saw
right there with ya
Enable PBO in BIOS, done
Auto will bump the max boost up to 150 MHz
Me: Boost 3600 to 7.5GHz
7.5 GHz
ON ALL CORES
Chinese supercomputer moment
If you could get it anywhere near there, the voltage required would melt the chip
yes
But the CPU couldn't handle 2v without literally burning out
yeah
BET?
lol
i think i can push it further
@potent portal I tightened the pump a bit and now my idle temps are even worse
too tight?
Probably too tight yes
alr, I only did a few more rotations on each thumb screw
Could be your paste also
I'll go back a few
Didn't you remove it and replace it without repasting or was that someone else?
