Make your own dust cover
Lol
smart
🤯
dang flex
i slapped my inlet sticker on the bottom of my keyboard
@desert gulch @spice gust guess how much I paid for the GPU
to much
$0
Sold my 5700xt for $600, bought the GPU 2 hours later for $600
ohhh that makes sense
yes
ah already recycling I see
Lol not my pic
nvm you didnt get it
Ahh lol
so youre saying i can sell my 5700xt to some poor soul and snag a 2080 for dirt cheap?
idea came from sara
@balmy patio lol Sara got the hella money moves
Hey there everyone, I completed my latest build recently, wanted to get some second opinions on everything
(Pc Part Picker updated with prices I paid for parts)
only a 3070 ?
The budgeting is bad
Depends what he’s doing
Pretty goodif your doing editing
If your gaming at 1080p it’s good
The i9-9900k is pretty cheap now but got outdated quickly, it's good for the price though
What about it? Very general comment
More than comfortable with 1080p 165hz gaming right now at medium-high settings
Seems perfect for 1080p 165hz, do you think otherwise?
It’s definitely good for 1080p but at 2k u could’ve put a 3080 and i9 850k in the budgets, and u have to much storage and ram unless your using for like a job or something
Well the RAM was a deal from a friend, $150 for 8x4GB RGB DDR4-3000 didn't seem too bad, and considering playing COD on my old build could spike my RAM usage to 12+ GB out of 16GB total at times, I felt 32 added some future proof in that sense I guess.
As for the storage, the WD Black hard drives are excellent performers, and considering the mass storage at cheaper prices than solid states, I opted for one large hard disk drive along with my boot M.2. Only a couple months in, and half my 4TB HDD has easily been filled by games and other media, my 1TB M.2 maybe 1/4 filled. Point is, gaming takes up a lot of storage.
@muted sluice
Gm build chat
Could’ve got cheaper faster ram with better timings that were also 32gb, but the pc could’ve been budgeted better
Don't think I could find $150 RGB 8x4GB with better timings. RGB was a main part of buying this kit, which was a deal from a friend
Well I meant 2 x16
8x4 was also important for looks
Ballistix ram could’ve been tuned to cl14 at 3600mhz
I think I can tune these Vengeance Pro up as well
Don’t do it
Corsair have trash dies for tuning
And overclocking
U won’t boot
Interesting
I tried tuning them and they just don’t work
My friend I purchased them from was able to run 3200 MHz on the same kit
Probably at CL16
But 3 GHz to 3.2 seems even less necessary for any apparent performance gain
You cant OC at all really on those
Crucial Ballistix can OC way better than those for about the same price usually
@muted sluice I appreciate the input, definitely see where you're coming from with the RAM/storage comments. I actually had G.Skill's Ripjaws 8x4GB DDR4-3600 in here before at a similar price, but switched it out after realizing I wanted some RGB in there. Same goes with my motherboard, wanted to make sure it had ARGB headers and that my case fans were RGB, so I definitely see where there's head room for performance when overlooking aesthetic. I don't know if I could budget in a 3080/10850k still desiring an RGB-themed build.
Crucial Ballistix RGB seems to be out of stock on Newegg currently
Yea
But that is what I would recommend
And tariffs
Yeah I'm definitely going to look into the Ballistix kit, will keep an eye on whether it goes in stock on sale. Then again, it doesn't seem like it would be a worthy upgrade from the kit I have now to Ballistix kit if I end up having to pay more than $150 for it.
@mortal umbra Get the pc off the carpet!!!!!!!
Just resell your current ram
If u want upgrade it
Yeah, what I'm saying is if I planned on selling for what I paid, $150, I wouldn't think it to be worth to pay more than $150 for a kit that probably won't visibily increase performance
I could probably get more than $150 for that kit though
You paid $150 for a 16GB kit?
8x4
Ah okay
Kinda slow tho
Depends on the application
On Intel you wont see a huge difference but on Ryzen 3000 series you most likely will
Not huge but you will see a difference
Yes that is true, I figured the difference in speed is negligible given I wanted RGB ram
Fair enough
RGB=PERFORMANCE
I’d just keep your current ram
Probably just a 4 FPS gain with new ram
It was just budgeted poorly on ram and storage
I think the storage deals were excellent
WD's Black drives are beasts
And I've already used up more than half of my storage less than a couple months in
(Granted, I've probably already installed most of what I'm going to have installed in the next year or 2)
Guys what is the best mobo brand

What’s the best mobo brand and model
Really depends
What cpu
What budget
Will you do overclocking?
Actually, the asus rog dominus probably best motherboard
Made for Xeons and can supply 1000w of power while overclocking
It's just around like 1,550€
Yep
Well, he wanted the best
Rubles
Canadian rubles
Or american ones
Freedom dollars
Lol
I like how people think that those emojis just describe America
Watch some European come in here and just start hating on ya lol
When it literally describes like South Dakota and that’s it
Lol I wish they would
It’s not chewsday so they are prob drinking like tea rn
Canadian loonies **
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/BeanBob8/saved/JJZBjX is this a good build (I'm going to build this summer)
what's the use case?
workstation/editing i assume?
Are there any websites or companies where i can pick out my parts and the company cans build it and ship it to me without me having to actually build it myself?
yes there is alot
are there any like big ones or any that are like great value and worth the money
well personally what i would do is look for popular pc building companies
pick the parts you want and compare prices on pcpartpicker
Microcenter if you live near one
I'm sure there are people in your town that offer that service
just look around and compare prices and build quality
that build is overkill unless you're editing in 4k
the monitor is 240hz 1440p
32 gb of ram is more than enough
the Budget is 4k and i already maxed out the gpu
exactly
honestly i'd say it's overkill for normal editing but i digress
4000mhz ram is a nice touch for the 5900x
for too long i haven't had a pc and i just want power tbh man for too long i have been bottlenecked by my setup because when I didn't know about tech i made poor decisions but now I know and I have a way to get $4k in the summer and that why Im getting this monster
yup
i still think you'd be good with 32gb of ram, that way you could spend the cash on peripherals (kbm, headset, etc)
but it's your call
for plug n play 3800mhz is ideal
if you tune it though higher the mhz the better
true
but with that build "tuning" is inevitable
$549 MSRP
okay
ok don’t judge me bc i’m new to pcs. I’m looking for a good prebuilt for video games and this one seems pretty decent. my budget is like 550 bucks prob
Join a stock watching discord or something
really?
@little osprey save up and get 1k
^^
I have sold better systems for $175
i only play rocket league and i’ll play valorant
valorant needs fps
Save up a couple hundred more for a HP Gaming pre built
They make a 360
Then look on other websites
are there any good prebuilts rn for like 650 max that could run valorant decently?
larger size...
they look the same
uses 3 140mm fans
yes
Overpriced
im planning on getting 10 with commander pro
You said yesterday you did not want RGB
oh okay what other good rgb fans are there
i changed my mind
i want light rgb, fans and ram only
if im getting a 200 case might as well make it look good
Theres like zero good prebuilts for cheap currently

oh
You can buy a 64gb kit for that much money
i really don’t think i can build my own i know for sure i will screw it up
its fine lol
hardest part is picking out parts

@worn wave what other rgb 32gb pack would you reccomend
i was thinking 4x8 for aesthetics
but 2x16 could work too
ok can someone possibly find me good parts and add up 600$

wow
Visiontek SFF Radeon 7750 Single-Fan 2GB GDDR5 PCIe 3.0 Graphics Card
is this a good graphics card
uh no
No that's super old
You might be able to buy a used 1060 or 1070 for cheap
Looking at your previous messages for a budget of 600 I'd recommend waiting unless you need the pc immediately
even a rx 580 if you are on a super low budget
I highly recommend waiting
Or if you got a microcenter near you, you might be able to get a good deal on a GPU
there’s a micro center a 1hour 30 min drive
Why tf are people still buying pc parts when some of them are literally 3x their original price
The prices will only go down if people quit spam buying any GPU they can get their hands on
The problem isn't some people hoarding and spam buying, the problem is just the supply can't deal with the huge demand
It's not just consumer pc market running out of parts, auto manufacturers are also running out of chips
Covid plays a huge factor in it
Less workers to work at factories who produce products, the pc parts market aint the only market hit.
It has gotten better with other markets though, not so much with pc parts market
There's also the factor of ETH being so profitable for GPU mining
the miners that are actually large enough for it to affect stock already get shipments from nvidia SPECIFICALLY meant for them
@little osprey Not exactly, many miners doing ETH still get it through consumer or AIB partners
And that means consumer cards, not mining-specific cards, are being acquired
And I'm talking about stock in general, yes those miners won't directly affect your chances of getting a card on Newegg for example, but if they don't have enough cards to begin with, your average consumer won't get one
im saying they're the same model
shipments for miners and shipments for consumers
the miners that do get shipments that would affect the stock usually buy 50-500k worth of cards
Hey guys is there any benchmark which shows that any ram above 3200mhz cl16 for Intel is obsolete?
i see EVGA the most for the smaller miners
good
because they get the stinky clown lip gpus
Why
I'm planning an intel i9 build with my 3090
i could buy 3600c16 ram or 3200c16
but 3200c16 is 50 bucks cheaper
I just wanted to know if there are any performance benefits
Not much
it would be better to spend money on 4000c16 if anything
if you're going to spend a ton of money on ram
yeah that's a lot more money I have to spend
It's like 200$ more, than 3600c16
@little osprey Do you think a 11900k is enough for a 1440p 240hz main monitor and a 1080p 75hz second one?
yes
Thank you. Hoping the 11900k will be the same price like the 5800x
Otherwise I must switch to AMD
No its definitely gonna be 5900x-5950x price
Probably leaning closer to 550$
what!
11900k is most likely about to be similar pricing to 5900X
Okay if that what you're saying is true, will buy 5900x
Its always been like this
For 8 cores only!
Rumours are that 12900k will most likely be 16 core possibly
The 10900k was 10 cores though?
Yeah but 8 cores of 16 will be lower performing
I dont understand why Intel would do this
yes
I am excited to see what Alder Lake brings
I hope they release new Workstation Xeons on Alder Lake
👍
wouldn't recommend getting that case
replace the ssd with an MP34 and spend the price difference on a better case
flimsy construction, poor cable management room, and (worst of all) the fans cannot be controlled whatsoever due to being molex
both the fan speed and the lighting
consider replacing with this
same performance ram for same price but it isn't red which is a bonus imo
asus website is an absolute piece of garbage and won't let me check if that motherboard has a bios flash button
yea
the case and ram kinda cringe
or yea get a case for similar money and consider upgrading to 3600mhz ram
after making the 970 evo plus to a mp 34
montech x1 is a really big bait
looks good for the price but.. you get what you pay for
cut corners
i already have everything but not the power supply yet
How much was that case?
Also why do people get really expensive stuff for cpu and gpu but then buy the cheapest item for every other option
It’s much easier to upgrade the cpu and gpu later than to do the case or cooler
Anyone know of any good floppy drives that would work on a modern PC? I have a reason for wanting to do this.
Any advice on what cpu is good enough for just using it to use basic applications? I don’t need a gaming cpu, it’s for my mom’s friends that work with filing taxes and aren’t knowledgeable with computer parts
So I was thinking about getting some cable extensions but I am confused on whether or not i will need both EPS cables or just the one 8 pin
For the CPU you'll usually just need the 8 pin unless you're doing extreme overclocking
@weak wraith that looks AWESOME! may I ask what specs?
I figured as much, I have a 10850k that i have set to 5.1ghz and I have an 8+4 to keep it stable, pretty sure its not doing anything though, thanks for the info!
shiet he aint playin around
those some heavy ass duty parts
how many fps u getting
wait how did u get the gpu block tho
dam, that is op. my finished setup is a 3090 + 5950x, ive got the 3090. im still impressed, just... dam
95 Watt TDP and most cables can handle ~200 Watts, overclocking can double the power consumption depending on your chip. Maybe see how much power it draws max with hwinfo before your final decision.
shoot bro
waterblocking a gpu
looks stressful asl
especially if it is a super expensive one
like one mistake
and gg's
and ur doing basically everything you can to void the warranty
It's not that serious. You remove a few screws, slap a new block on, tighten the tubes down, then fill it.
so i let it run for a little bit, saw it hit 91, went and lowered voltage to 1.3 and it pulls around 180w if im being generous
you think i could get the voltage lower for 5.1?
yes, its in the same place as package temps right? am i looking in the wrong place?
"CPU Package Power (SMU)"
In the CPU section under memory timings
Like my Ryzen 2700 (non X) is a 65 Watt processor, but I overclock it and it pulls 120+ Watts easy stress testing
yeah i ran it on a cpuz stress test for like 5 minutes and saw it peak at around 177 to 180 i can check again but it was under 200 at 5.1
So theoretically the 8 pin only should be fine, but if you have stability issues definitely good to do the 8+4
Ah reading all your stuff makes me think I shoulda gone for an even higher voltage power supply
alright, I was going to buy the extra 4+4 pin eps just in case anyway but if i can save money then that would be great
Yeah when you're calculating your expected power draw the "calculators" don't always account for overclocking properly
i only have an 850w
Only
That's a bit overkill still lol
i was prepping for a 3070 or 3080 but the availability is not good
so i am stuck with a 5700xt for a while
it still pulls like 200-250 watts stock but the drivers are erratic and anything I do makes it crash
I have a 650w it should in theory be totally fine
I have no clue what any of my other components pull from that though
But i got the psu in a really good sale so 😛
Usually a good 650 is more than enough, even overclocking both CPU and GPU, unless you get into the really high end stuff like a 5950X and a 3090
Nothing wrong with a good sale 😉
until you get to 3080 territory, then you need more cause 3080 has high power spikes
I only will be having a 1070 Ti for my GPU
750W is more than enough for OC 10900K + 3090 in synthetic benchmarks
650W is enough in gaming
Yeah you'll hear a lot of stories about people getting blanking screens and such and it's because their power supply isn't good enough tier to handle it
i needed to be sure. lol
but its 80+ gold so its at least reliable
and it isn't a gigabyte psu
80+ gold doesn't mean crap
And model over brand
All psu companies make trash stuff
80+ is just efficiency
mwe gold 850 v2
Not a sign of quality
Yeah that one is a good tier iirc
But there are trash psus with 80+ gold
That will blow up
I've seen OEM garbage get 80+ Titanium
Yeah
yeah, hence the crappy gigabyte one, i just worded it incorrectly lol
Lol
Whew, ran prime95 for a while and my lil 65 Watt processor peaked over 145 Watts 🔥
spicy
kinda makes me wonder, i had a 2700 at 4.15ghz, never knew about the hardware monitor
I'm only keeping mine at 4 GHz@1.2875v, it's tricky getting the 2000s to go to all core speed at their boost clock without ridiculous tuning
i wonder how high i can get an FX 4130 without it exploding
5 GHz stable is achievable on that chip, if it's binned good
how big of a psu do you need for the 3070 fe?
650ish
cool i was looking to drop the aio i want and go for the 3070 instead of the 3060ti
now i have another question
what is a good 700-750w psu thats b teir?
Why b tier? $100 for phanteks amp 750
honestly my thought process was that b teir has cheaper psu then a teir
dont question it lol
could i get the model of the psu he is talking about?
alr
ye
oh wow its a full modular
A tier
What is a good free software to moniter your CPU performance and temp?
not sure what its called but its msi brand
are you using USD?
Hwinfo64
USD? sorry, im new
im talking about the american dollar xD
its not a bad build
but for that cost you can have something so much better
like you could get a 3070 for that price of a 1660ti
Cooler can be anything but that
Id cooling sse224 cheaper and better.
Thermal paste is fine, ig
and with the little money saved from that 3070 fe you could get a better cpu
like a ryzen 5 5600x
sure give me a minute ill send it to you
k thx
And yeah gpu could be way better for price
But good luck getting one at msrp
Or getting one at all
5600x is better for 100 bucks more
k
and with that mobo you can get rid of that wifi usb
hes going rgb stuf so i thought it fit in lol
Cheaper iirc
i cant get the graphics card tho
that trident z is 3600 cl16
super you have to buy it from bestbuy
its an exclusive and the cheapest 3070
Best buy prices isn't great tho iirc
ok, how much does it cost?
Selling over msrp
499.99
ok
its always nice to know your options
Rtx is a gimmick and it's still niche
the 3080 is 699.99
3080 not worth it imo if ur just gaming
so the 3080 is pretty close to that 1660ti you originally had
even 2080ti only gets like 60 fps on ultra 1080p
But that's cause I don't play at high res
so imagine 4k at ultra
but with the parts i sent you i wouldnt recommend unless you plan on changing
youd want 3080 at least
the cpu you put isnt compatible
It should be
it is but it might need a bios update
But fair, not all b550s have the right bios
but if you buy the mobo now you shouldnt need to
Bios update isn't difficult anyways
yea i got the mobo myself since im building my own
That's pretty epic
bios?
that's the basic input output system on the motherboard
oh
it basically handles the most basic commands
so your pc can do things
it's a paperweight without one so
it's vital
that pcpartpicker i sent is my build
but really upgrading it is not a challenge lol
i wouldn't worry about bios versions/incompatibilities
so basically, should i change my cpu lol
to the r5 5600x? yes
yep
ok
your getting the most recent series of cpu for ryzen
personally, i'd go for the mp34 instead as an SSD
cheaper and better performance
RAM is up to you tho, if you want that rgb go for his set
otherwise ripjaws are like 95 bucks
i love crucial but i cant get my hands on it
crucial too if you can get it lol
its so hard to get
seagate drives have controversy just ask lili
but in my experience they've been very reliable
my combo in storage that i plan on using seems like a decent one for cost
its a wd blue 4tb with a 970 evo plus 500gb
true, but i think the WD blue was 5400rpm
eh
depends on if you wanted more storage or more speed
i mean its just gonna hold games
i like speed
the evo is gonna run the system
ik
but having a 5400rpm will slow down some file transfers
and you'll probably store games on the hdd
yea i plan to store games on it
can someone explain this lol, sorry " Some AMD B550 chipset motherboards may need a BIOS update prior to using Vermeer CPUs. Upgrading the BIOS may require a different CPU that is supported by older BIOS revisions."
so loading games will be slower
it'll simply require an update
Blue drives can be 7200, mine are
with the board unknown gave you, you won't need another cpu
😄
how do i update tho?
and press the tiny button on board
so you gotta get the bios from your motherboards manufacturer
download it onto a usb
plug the usb into your motherboard usb port
should be the one labeled as bios or whatever
then you just press the bios flash button and it'll do it
where can i find the bios?
hey wideus know any alternatives on getting windows?
online
after you help super tho
online on the motherboard's manufacturer website
generally under the support section
haha, it is the entire windows operating system
just you get a dum watermark
i mean customize it
cant they lock the keys or something?
idk
but a lotta people here also say ebay
and it makes sense
how they gonna know u got it from ebay
true ill risk it
so which mobo, the one i have now or the one im building
the one you're gonna be building with
the asus b550-f (WIFI)
but that's kind of an after build problem lol
the one i sent you
dont stress too much about it
The keys they sell (resell technically) are considered gray market, officially against ToS but no one cares enough. Often they're old Windows 7/8 keys that still work.
haha gray market keys go brrr
No problem.
Gray vs Grey is mostly dialect, both are correct
ok so when i build my pc i can build it, then on that pc i can download the bios files?
I'm using an old Win 7 key myself 👍
fancy
ok cool
super is lucky he added the cost of windows into his build xD
discord died
yea
another wheel on google servers must have broken
or maybe someone was yelling in the server room
hes doing a give away for a 6800xt
can you join vc 1 and ill share my screen, i don have a working mic btw
im just trying to download the files cause i already got the external drive
it should be the asus b550-f
im on the website under support
how did you get there
ok thanks
if u put in folders it's more difficult to find the bios when you're updating it
it's not complicated, but it'll take like a button press more
i like to reduce the number of presses
ik but itll take more time away from using the thing
yeah
Yeah, even if it ends up not working you can just fix it later
but it does come with nice updates and maybe improvements
i just updated my bios yesterday lol
nice
<-🛏️
🛏️ ⏲️ ?
Sure lets go with the bed clock lol
aaa my room is 30 degrees
rip
Celsius?
celcius
oh thats not that bad
but just enough for you to notice
i think the worst the my room temp has been is -10 degrees
Fahrenheit
oh
yea xD
idk what that means lol
below freezing
oh geez
yea and chances of frostbite
getting below freezing using Fahrenheit is 30 degrees
that's pretty cold man
@jagged ember is this right?
well imma go to sleep guys
cya
and goodnight
or goodmorning where ever you are
ok cya, thx for the help
np and good luck on the pc
tysm
does anyone know if the Corsair H115i RGB Platinum fits into the top of the Fractal Design Meshify case?
im a bit new to the building scene and im not sure if it will fit on top
The meshify C? There's plenty of room.
Pretty good case btw, 9/10 if I'm picky (and I am)
any substitutes for the nvidia rtx 3070?
holy crap building a pc looks so hard i don’t think i’ll be able to do this
i just watched a long totorial and it is way to complicated and what if i buy parts that aren’t comparable
compatible*^
RTX 2080 Ti, but that MSRPs for 2x that of the 3070
hi
somebody else said that but that thing is expensive
Yep
No real substitute tbh
Might be able to get a 2080 Ti off of the used market, if you are lucky
i sorta meant do you recommend any decent gpus
thx
scalped?
Bought and resold at ridiculous prices
ok
6800’s performance is not what people were led to believe it would be
Source?
Anyone recently purchased an ABS rig? Having crashing issues
So I got a weird issue.... I have a samsung 860 evo 1T SSD but my PC won't assign it a drive letter. I have a Ryzen 9 3600 CPU and Windows 10 on. 500G HDD. Note: this is my first SSD and I eventually want to get rid of my HDD.
The computer detects the SSD and identities that it has 1T storage but that's the end of it.
Samsunga magician says I can transfer all the data but I need to be able to use it. :/
Go to disk management and assign it a letter
hey guys a good build using newegg custom pc builder for 3000 qar (823.80 usd) i live in qatar want to use the rig for video editing and gaming programming and blender
I tried that... Didn't work.
It wasn't even an option
is it a new drive? have you formatted it or is it still unallocated?
It's a brand new drive, plugged in last night
Anyone around?
there's always someone
Stupid question: Have and RTX3080 on a RMX 850
Picked up a 3070 and want to put it in the same rig, the RMX 850 only has 1 "GPU" slot for power
oh, I don't know much about those new GPUs
If I have a 3080 installed in a rig with a RMX 850, can I put a 3070 in there as well? If so what does it plug into on the PSU?
Why would you want to run two different gpus?
Additionally, only 3090 supports sli anymore
And you'd need an nvlink for that
Ok I initialized it....
This is also my first windows 10.... what would one do if this was the only storage they had?
ok found the create new space button. lolz
convert to mbr disk
Why would you want an extra gpu? It wouldn’t give you any extra gaming performance
The rmx 850 is a power supply right
Would an 850w even be enough to run a 3080 and a 3070
probably not
Also aren’t both the 3070 and 3080 triple eight pins or is it just the 3080
don't know why you'd want that
even if it was for SLI you need two of the same card
Yeah and sli is only on the founder 3090 I thought
yeah
I’m not entirely sure, but could you game on the 3080 and then stream off of the 3070 with its nvenc encoder?
I read them
So two applications can’t use two different cards?
I don’t think an 850 watt would have enough pins for both
Youll need like 24x2 pins
So prolly two psu
All in all, absolutely impractical
Streaming using nvenc barely hits your performance anyways
Doesn’t that one insane Corsair case have support for an atx and a mini itx/or matx system? That thing has got to have two psus in it right
1000D?
I thought so
Or some other ridiculous thing
1000D is not worth it for the Price
there are many cheaper cases with dual system, dual PSU support
Haha tell that to
I’m trying to boot into safe mode but when I click “restart with these options” or whatever, it first won’t display any signal, then turns off without giving me the option to boot into safe mode?
People who are building two systems start to care less about the price
Who even needs dual pc
Streamers
Some developers
I have two PCs that I use
Gaming system and Workstation system
The small rig is supposed to have a capture card and a gpu and cpu usually
I like having all my software and files separate from each other
Also sorry Sara, not sure why safe mode ain't working
Currently winding down and looking into it would stop me from sleeping
oi
what you need in safe mode?
DDU
I see, try going to the advanced startup options, I think you have to get to them through windows tho, I think windows 10 killed the ability to hit F8 on boot
They did but theres tools to enable it
I pressed shift and hit restart in normal windows
Went to normal menus
Directed myself to the boot options area
Pressed restart
This software should allow you to enable the F8
oh, so you were already there
No signal to monitor, PC turns off
ooo, I'll save that
The free version is pretty good
it has a crap ton of tools and optimizations
$40 for the paid version though
strange, I have no idea what the issue could be, but I guess you could try running ddu in normal windows mode
thats what I typically do anyway
I gotta get back to packing up, I'm moving back to college campus in a few hours

Kitty
Reseat RAM?
what have you changed since it stopped working

Tried single channel, still getting light
My friend took out the GPU before I could DDU it, all I did was put it back in
He took it out properly too
Have you tried a cmos reset yet
Btw, source on the RX 6800 comment was user experience
A couple friends have had both 2080Tis and RX 6800s
All other benchmarks show the 6800 outperforms the 3070/2080ti
amd benchmarks
Obviously will depend on game
what resolution tested?
how is the 6800xt relative to the 3070?
rx 6000 series performs better at lower resolutions
amd benchmarks results are just numbers
usually loses at 4K
yep
infinity cache miss rate gets higher at higher resolutions
I am referring to independent benchmarks
Nobody uses amd or nvidias own numbers lol
We tried 4K and 2K in most games
And by most I mean all the ones shown in the AMD benchmarks
dlss on amd off 😂
4k it kinda makes sense but at 1440p the 6800 should quite alot outperform the 3070
too bad the 6800 is priced like a 3080
aib msrp markup on radeon cards are much higher
don't get aib then
reference cards barely exist
fair
Just how bad it is
nvidia stock is a lot better though
i tried to buy a 6800xt for a while
gave up and got a 3080 for under msrp
Everything is higher due to tariffs, I'm waiting for the repeal that's no doubt incoming
Oh yeah don't have as much demand on them as TSMC
amd is spread too thin
#1 priority is consoles
and then cpu has higher profit margin than gpu
so they have little incentive to mass produce navi 21
Yep just gets pushed to the back of the queue
That's why we have no sight of 6700xt coming any time soon
people were complaining about ampere being on samsung 8nm instead of tsmc 7nm
imagine how much worse things would be if ampere was also fighting for tsmc 7nm

LOL
i mean isnt amd looking to outsource production to samsung now
i believed frank azor when he said stock would be better than ampere
i bought a custom engraved gpu stand with a radeon logo on it to support my 6800xt
ended up reselling it to my friend with a 5600xt
LUL
kinda feel like a clown
but whatever i lost $3
No great loss then
gt 710
in hindsight very glad i went nvidia
my 3080 is quickly paying for itself mining eth
gamers: we want gpu
mom: we have newly releaed gpu at home
new gpu:
that gddr6x is insane
G T 1 0 1 0
i paid $770 for the card
and it makes $7/day back
mining while gaming
would be $10/day if i didn't game on it
but i bought it to game so...
How badly would cooling on a hyper 212 evo be affected if I painted the top of the top fin, and top of heatpipes???
(Before you say better cooler it’s Bc I can get one for free)
depends on what kind of paint you use
What types can I use that wouldn’t suck?
if you're only painting the top it shouldn't be a big deal
but definitely only paint the topmost fin
paint can be a heat insulator so you want to be careful not to get it on the other fins
Ye it’s only the top of it, I’ll cover everything else with painters tape
just regular acrylic paint should be fine for painting only the top
from experience on a 3600x
wraith spire full aluminum and hyper 212 have similar cooling performance
but the wraith spire is significantly louder
not sure how well the wraith spire copper core will do comparatively
My dads 3600x ran really hot on his spire aluminum with stock paste. I repasted it for him and it went for like 95c running r20 to 86c. (The paste had dried)
It didn’t look bad from what I could tell
i recall my 3600X running at 70-75C on both coolers in R20
R20 is not that heavy of a load
i've since upgraded though so i can't verify
PBO scalar 10x, fan speed around 60%
But the thermal paste dried and the cooler and cpu were stick so I had to twist it.... I hit a capacitor lol. But it was fine
My pc has a 3600 and a 24$ aio
i upgraded to a 360mm aio anticipating to upgrade my 3600x to a 5800x
but after getting my 3080 i found that it was not being meaningfully bottlenecked by the 3600x at 1440p
so now i have a cooler that cost almost as much as my cpu
got the 3600x for $143, cooler was $130
but i value aesthetics and acoustics so it's all good
Oh thats good
pc is whisper quiet when i want it to be
I paid 180$ for my cpu (this was including tax 168$ before), and my 24$ aio is the rosewill pb240 and I’m using p12s for my fans
silverstone pf360-argb
i got a 3600 later for a customer that was a better sample than my 3600x
lol
was debating giving him a "free upgrade to a 3600x"
Did you get ur 3600x new or used? Just wondering
new
Oh that’s a really good deal then
my 3600x does 4.2ghz all core, that 3600 did 4.4ghz all core
Voltages?
was able to pass cinebench at almost 4.6ghz all core lol
1.25V on the 3600X, 1.3V on the 3600
both i determined to be the safe maximums for the specific chip
Nice
so yeah it is still a fair apples to apples comparison despite being different voltages
because the 3600X is not capable of 1.3V safely
quite a difference
4005 on 3600X vs 4181 on 3600
I can’t get over your name
Sips Bleach Seductively
Makes me laugh every time I see it
I’m buying a 20$ s340 soon
