okay, so, i currently have a HP Envy laptop running a intel i7-7500U. I have the opportunity to get an i7-4790K and a GTX 970 for about $300 all together with Mobo and ram. the only thing i really do on my pc is general web surfing, media, and really, just World of Warcraft, maybe some Overwatch sometimes. would this be worth the change?

@quick pond PSU wise, I suggest consulting the PSU tier list for a look at their quality, and just take a look at what kind of ram you had in your old build, ddr2/4 ram won't go in ddr3, that kind of thing

Hoping someone can help with this: I want a dedicated desktop for music production, it has to have thunderbolt 3, that's the only "must", and I'm looking for the best possible world (in terms of graphics card, memory, etc.) for UNDER 700 dollars. @shadow yew again, depends on the case, something like MX330-g air, the stock 3 fan config is more than enough

Standard setup is usually whatever you can fit on the front (2/3), and an exhaust fan

#

anything more can mess with airflow patterns if you don't pay attention, and move to negative pressure instead of positive pressure

More intake than exhaust, for positive pressure, since that means you can control where air is coming from, and therefore where dust is going through (front filters, instead of like pcie brackets where there are no filters)
