In the show I’m watching: “He bought those computers ($500k worth) for their processing power. If he networks them all together, he has a super computer. Something like this would generate massive amounts of heat, we are talking hundreds of thousands of Kilowatts”

There are a few problems with this. The first is the thing about heat. A network of computers in a warehouse (this is in Chicago) with good airflow will not generate more heat than one of Lili’s server rooms.

The second thing is the ‘hundreds of thousands of kilowatts’ remark. This was made in 2016, when a powerful computer produced en masse could have around a 1000w PSU at most. That’s one kilowatt. Let’s say every computer was worth a grand. That’s 500 computers (far less are shown in the show). Meaning 500 kilowatts at most. A Far Cry from ‘hundreds of thousands of Kilowatts’.

One more thing: all of the computers shown were Dell Optiplexes. They didn’t even bother to scrape the logo off the side. I don’t need to say more.
