I got a 5800x and an ASUS TUF x570 Plus. When attempting to post, i've been seeing the DRAM light on, meaning there is an issue with the ram. I have tried every slot, and both configurations for dual channel according to the manual, no success. I have also used other ram, both of which are on the MOBO's compatibility list from ASUS.com. I was just wondering if this is an RMA issue, or if it could be related to my x570 mobo not having the bios update to support the new Ryzen CPUs.

From my understanding ryzen 5000 loves high speed low latency ram and running quad channel over dual channel has quite a big improvement on the 5600x

And even that is only at ~4.48ns response time

the other consideration is board memory topology

the traces on the pcb are laid out in one of two ways

#

daisy chain, where you have the two primary memory channel slots, then the traces branch out to the other slot

#

t-topology, where all 4 slots have equal trace length

#

daisy chain results in lower latency for the first 2 sticks, but higher latency for the second 2 sticks

#

while t-topology is slightly higher latency for all 4 sticks

#

most boards are daisy chain but you can check your specific board using the AM4 motherboard list

#

so 2x16 gives you the benefits of rank interleaving without the increased latency penalty of the daisy chain

#

as opposed to 4x8 which gives you the benefits of rank interleaving but also the penalty of daisy chain

I run 16gb too, so I don't benefit from know it, but in a case where someone does need more than 16gb of ram it helps to know because if they still need good RAM response times, you know you know that there is a slight penalty for using all for dimm slots, and having let's say that you want 3600cl14 ram, for that 3.98ns response time, then you know that you ain't gonna find more than 2x8gb of it
