no need to save it as your own list or anything
@next sigil also, need a monitor or no
Thanks @stoic island..
We are actully looking at a Samsung 27" monitor..
Already got that priced out.. 🙂
kk
27in 1080p isn't great
24in 1080p is ideal
and 27in 1440p is ideal
with 32in 1440p not being great
anyways, ram high latency, 970evo overpriced, RM750 out of stock
case overpriced
gpu currently overpriced
Yeah this is not too specific, it outlines the type of parts he should use
I think I remember seeing some 3600 CL16 for 80 bucks recently
I just hate h510 :P
GPU is not overpriced
$499 for 2070 super
Yeah
:P
The H510i is very cliche, and the airflow isn't great
Hold on Imma make a better one
all looks little airflow :P
I'm pretty sure my mATX case has better airflow
meshify c?
A good case
Meshify c good with extra fans
stock is meh
why not mp34 :P
cheaper
PSU still out of stock at best buy :P
You guys are giving us some good info here.. We greatly appreciate it.
Seriously. Thanks guys
will a three fan gpu fit on an atx motherboard?
that doesn't matter with the motherboard, just the case
the cas is an ATX Full Tower
the PCIe slot is standardized
Are coolermaster psu bad
@little osprey Case sizes aren't standard beyond a absoluste bare minimum size.
This has the correct psu
I think i am planning on buying this one :ASRock B550 EXTREME4 AM4 AMD B550 SATA 6Gb/s ATX AMD Motherboard
... still out of stock lmfao
Is the ryzen 5 3600x good with graphics and adobe softwares?
really gotta manually check for best buy
ok
is the crucial p1 good
how is the motherboard still out of stock? they just came back in stock
He was talking about the PSU
For productivity stuff, you might consider getting more cores if you can afford it, but 3600 should be just fine. The 3600x doesn't really give that much improvement for the price
ok thank you
Just double check your case size and GPU length
I think I can afford more cores like the 7 3700x
So let me ask you guys this about RAM..
I'm looking at the Fractal Design Ion+ 560P 80 PLUS Platinum Certified 560W and ASUS ROG Strix B550-F Gaming MB and Newegg's Build a PC tool let's me select them together but a different online took says "The Asus ROG STRIX B550-F GAMING (WI-FI) ATX AM4 Motherboard has an additional 4-pin ATX power connector but the Fractal Design Ion+ 560 W 80+ Platinum Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply does not. This connector is used to supply additional 12V current to the motherboard. While the system will likely still run without it, higher current demands such as extreme overclocking or large video card current draws may require it."
so will they work together?
Does the RAM speed need to match what the CPU says or as long as the MB supports it it's fine?
i think it needs to match but i am not sure
Literally every psu is sold out at best buy
oh wow
@next sigil It depends on exactly what CPU. I believe all the most recent gen CPUs will support at least 3600MHz
so is ryzen better than intel?
@little osprey If you can afford the 3700x without having to get a lower tier GPU, do so
ok
Yes it is better for almost every pricepoint
It depends on what you're doing. Intel is better for gamers with no budget, amd is better for basically anything else
i have a budget of $1500
@sand falcon I was looking at Rayzen 5 3600.. It says Memory type is DDR4 3200.. Will it be OK to still go with 3600 RAM?
Thanks.. I was asking this last night and was getting very unuseful answers.
If for some bizzare reason it can't run the ram, you can always run it below max speed
This build is just under $1500
If you can try to get a better psu
Their mostly sold out, so ur gonna have to do some digging
@next sigil
@sand falcon any thoughts
thank you
@thick gorge Thanks for the info.
the ryzen cpu says is supports ddr4 3200 but I wanted to origionally get a ddr4 4400
np
Don't go 4400, ryzen can't handle that fast
would 3600 be fine?
Also, why the P1 @thick gorge?
It was one of the lowest priced ones
Someone else told me to switch another one out for the p1
You'd be better off with the mp34. The crucial P1 is QLC, which means lower speeds and it wears out faster
ok
ok
I think @next sigil is gonna look into it
@little osprey 3600 ram will be just fine
ok thank you. this is the ssd I had origionally had on my list:Pioneer SE20G M.2 2280 1TB PCIe Gen 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) APS-SE20G
it was the fastest one I could also find
and one of the cheapest
There are far faster than that
ok
How much is it?
The intel SSD is also QLC
ok
How much is the Western Digital SN750 right now?
$80
That's for 512GB or 1TB?
500gb
Okay
ya
oops
is the windows 10 pro OS better than the apple OS? Just curious because I am currently looking into apple but realized that their app store has like 1% of the amount of apps microsoft windows has
okay so
2070 super is quite a bit better than the 2070
that powersupply is way overpriced
WD blue is sata, much slower than NVMe drives near the price
Ram can be better in terms of frequency
I'm updating it now.. Thanks for your input @stoic island
So, I want to start saving for an actual gaming PC, because as of now I'm stuck with a sort of weak Laptop. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm currently looking at saving for this: https://www.newegg.com/clx/p/3D5-000B-000K5?Item=3D5-000B-000K5
You should build your own because everything you want is in it and it is cheaper to build your own
I've built one online for around the same and it was higher than this spec, which is currently my ideal tower
oh
Also what's a good monitor?
that is what i am trying to figure out too. It depends though on what you are doing
I'm going to be gaming and editing videos
Pretty much the base plan
i am still thinking
You getting one or two?
one
this is what i was looking at for a while but it is pretty excpensive
LG 4K UHD 27UD88-W 27" LED-Lit Monitor with USB Type-C
on amazon
I don't want to make the transition USB Type-C just yet
ok but just because something is excpensive doesnt always mean it is the best or it will perform the best
Its cheaper than the Phillips and it seems like its better
yeah
I would get two of these
I personally don't buy retail Microsoft OS licenses
ok
You can get codes for 15-25$
thank you
I've got one just lying around
Invest the money you save in a better graphics card
Yes that is a good plan
ok thank you
Bro yes 😂
https://www.newegg.com/p/1BK-01HP-00001
that is hillarious
Quite
i need it
It even has LED lighting 😂
i am getting it
Overkill headset stand
https://www.newegg.com/black-corsair-st100/p/N82E16826816084
Name a good gaming keyboard
Logitech G213 Prodigy Gaming Keyboard with 16.8 Million Lighting Colors
that is the one i might get
My current RedDragon is good but the built in wrist rest isn't
me neither
ive got $300 and want to upgrade my cpu and mother board (and i think ram too). I have a AMD FX 8320. any suggestions?
How aout headphones? HunterSpider ripped me off so I wont buy from them again
@honest ridge what's your ram at right now?
@honest ridge DDR3 or DDR4?
Ah ok. I wouldn't upgrade my RAM further because I have 32GB RAM MMR4
But maybe to upgrade to DDR4
Easiest way would be to check what gen the CPU uses, but I'm pretty sure it's ddr3
i think so too
Do you need wifi?
wym?
Does the motherboard need to be able to connect to wifi
i use an ethernet cabel to connect it if thats what you mean
Cool
I wish I could use an Ethernet cable. I'm too far from a port
i got a long one and ran it through our attic
100ft CAT6 cable 🙂
Dang 😂
How much over 300 can you go?
id prefer not to but about 100
How's 313?
I've got a pretty good list as of now
https://secure.newegg.com/wishlist/md/30352134
oh thats fine
Just under $3k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/FzkgdX
You can probably get it cheaper if things go on sale, but here's what I got
@terse yew The list is private. Is there anyway you can share it?
Really? I just put it as ppublic
bob would that be good for streaming and gaming too?
Depends what GPU
4 Item(s) in your shopping cart: $2,463.96
my gpu is old but it works and looks fine when i stream now
yeah, I can't see it. Is there a share button or anything?
its a radeon rx 480
@honest ridge If your old system streams, this one will stream better
You might actually consider upgrading your GPU now and CPU later. idk
ok heres my situation
I play Rocket league a lot and on my PC it has frame drop and lag. but on my laptop there is no lag using the same ether net cord. do you know what that issue might be?
It will either be GPU or CPU, I'm not sure which it will be though
Does NewEgg have gaming desks on it?
i figured im due for an upgrade anyway
Yeah
what if i trade the Ryzen 5 for a Ryzen 3 3300
Should be fine
ok ill look
My GPU goes up to 90% in games so I'm due for an upgrade as well
What GPU? The 980?
aw pcparkpicker is down
So does mine. Some games reserve GPU space I think
I'll sell my gaming laptop for $3k because I've gotten offers that high, and I'll sell my brand new iPad which I don't use, and that should cover the prices, sales tax, and shipping
That's like a 4000 dollar budget. Are you Australian?
Nope
I'm a Californian
And its around $3.3K
Can someone link me a good desk on NewEgg?
Ikea desks are pretty nice
Very true
😦
start by getting non rgb ram, use the stock cooler and ditch the coolermaster one, get a cheaper case
get a b550 board
instead of x570
Oh ok
also you could save a bit going for a 512gb ssd instead of the 1tb
They're not much slower than m.2
iirc sata 3 maxes out 500mbps, and even my cheap intel 660p goes at 1800mbps
better m2 ssds go at like 3000 or even 4000
so that plus the hassle you save not having to run another sata and sata power cable makes it worth
imo
Ok
That’s rated speeds but rated speeds don’t make much difference in day to day tasks
Unless you are constantly doing file transfers sata is perfectly acceptable for system drive and some games
But that nvme is about the same price as a 1tb sata so you are probably fine
Here’s my edit
That ssd is QLC, I would pay the extra $7 to get an mp34 w/ TLC
Plus the mp34 is faster with r/w
Also that PSU concerns me... no model #
Why not?
psu might be a plastic explosive
Yh
and the ssd is slower than others for the price
It’s 80+ which means it meets certification
just barely
It’s just not as efficient
Doesn't mean it won't go off bang
^
^
Doesn't mean it's good
Doesn't mean its good
Yeah, just do 3600
I just modifed the list meow had to have a somewhat ok psu and a good ssd
I like that
you could go intel if you just want to game
You could do a CX 650 grey $20 less tho
https://www.evga.com/products/specs/psu.aspx?pn=ffee59fd-9d7c-411c-a23d-c5a0a61dde2d
Found the specs sheet for that no-name evga PSU
It's d-tier
It's pretty bad
thats pretty bad
Just use it for threadripper lol
I kinda overspent on my psu
That's the electrical noise I think, not the audible
I got an AX1200i for $100 😛
@potent prairie used?
Floor model. Open box
No cables, but great deal
Open box deals are killer
Yeah
I saw a 2080ti for like 900 once
I spent 140 bucks on my psu :/
I got my 2080ti for 1k with tax, also open box
damnn
EVGA XC Ultra from warehouse deals
2700x for 170
I wish I waited for 3900x sales before I got my 3700
I wish I had waited for 3080ti and zen 3
same
I want to see zen4
I think I’m just gonna do a new build for my next upgrade
Hi guys. Building a PC. AMD fanboy with a $720 hard limit. Suggestions?
@sand falcon 24 - 26dBa is quite quiet for a PSU
Loud is going over 40dBa at more then moderate loads
ewe hm.. my build is more than a little over budget at $1K...
For electrical noise? That seems horrible
Where do you find electrical noise rating for a PSU? Talking about just general noise rn
It was on the spec sheet
Doesn't say electrical noise, just standard noise which includes fan noise
It wouldn't be great if a PSU sounded like a taser
Wouldn't it?
🤔
I am liking this idea
It's a pity it's so much longer to april fools
Scare off anyone that tries to break into your place
Tase anybody who tries to disassemble your rig
Michael Reeves would be proud
You might need those insulating pads lol
Hrm?
Don't want your PSU/taser to short out
Lol, they still have the article up: https://www.theverge.com/2018/9/13/17828092/gaming-pc-build-custom-how-to-asus-intel-geforce-cost
What's fun is to have a number pad to unlock the power button and turn your computer on. If you enter the wrong code, dump 120VAC directly to the mobo and a electromagnetic coil wrapped around the harddrive
Yeah, that's what I'm talking about
First off, you are handling parts that draw several hundred watts of the power, so don’t ever touch the parts with the system powered on.
Meh
Just gets toasty
Oh my gosh, I had never actually seen the insides of this thing
Where are the wifi antennas?
e.e guess I'm on my own here..
If you need help, ask away
You sometimes will have to ask more than once if we're in a conversation. Sorry about that
No worries.. trying to build an AMD based PC from scratch.
$720 hard budget though.
No parts that can be reused at all?
Negative. Unfortunately.
Will you need wifi?
Yep
My thought atm is going with a ryzen 3400G and suffering a bit in the graphics department for a while to save money.. unfortunately, to use ethernet would need about 20-25 feet of cable at least and some inventive snaking.
Darn. No way to move the router?
Nope. This house is from the late 70s, and where the router was installed, it sits lol.
Okay. When are you looking at buying this? Supply is really bad with covid, so prices are high rn
Asap. Just got money from a GoFundMe and I got people waiting on me to get a proper desktop.
Okay. What will you be doing with the system?
Gaming primarily.
What games?
GTA, Skyrim, American Truck Sim. Maybe some Forza.
So nothing too rough to run
I don't actually know about the Truck Sim, but I can't imagine it will be crazy
Can you put the PC in the same room as the router?
Nah. Has GTA level graphics, thereabouts
It won't be the same room. Maybe 10-15 geet at most.
Okay
Extra 10 feet on the ethernet cord would be the snaking lol
Wifi is expensive as crap right now 😦
I wish the 3300x was in stock
Are you in the states?
Yup
if you could get 3300x you can get 1660s prob
Nice. Bit of room leftover there for me to upgrade the storage too - I download a lot of games. My PS4 is at capacity with 500GB lol
Ty
hmm
could go cv550w instead of cx450
bit more upgradability
slightly worse pssu
Will the mobo need a bios update btw?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rKndhg
3600+580
730$ if you slap 3600 in there
tho 580 kinda weak nowadays
I'd get 1650s over 580
Okay, they're the same price, so it's an easy swap
The boomer in me winces whenever I see a smaller CPU despite knowing the graphics cards are more important for modern games lol.
Oh. Nifty.
Although I like how the newegg disc seems to universally use pcpartpicker over newegg PC builder. Kek.
hdd only tho
oh wait
read wrong
that works
Newegg pc builder needs work still
Yeah
mainly with custom parts and parts from other sites
How do you send pcpartpicker links here
magic
:/
Crucial P1 is QLC. If you can afford it, get the mp34
ye
To allow for GPU upgrade in the future
Oh yeah didn’t notice the QLC
yh
also look out for best buy :P
Yh lol, best buy bad
out of stock at 95$
so is aorus elite
so its 900$ if you bought it now :P
P1/P2 is also fairly slow compared to MP34 and the rest of the good NVMe drives
I would go for 256 mp34 + 1TB HDD over 1TB P1
And QLC 🤮
QLC is okay if you get it really cheap
I'd go 256 mp34+2tb HDD, or 512gb mp34 + upgradability in the future
its just 50$ for barracuda 2tb, not exactly hard to get
qlc is slow, less reliability, it's the least ideal :P
Was about to ask what was wrong with QLC lol. Ty.
Tried the 2TB, 3.70 over budget. Trying to ix that now
ssd lingo is still a little confusing for me lol
slc = 1
MLC = 2
So smaller is better?
ye
I though QLC was 5?
quad level cell
Ah, that use of Q
Okay. So what's the performance difference between a 7200RPM HDD and, say, a QLC SSD?
HDD slow, QLC fast but crap
Yea
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/sZjJ3t
3600, 1650s, 2TB HDD
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vyZFDx
Same as before, but has 512GB ssd
For example, P1 1tb is rated for up to 2000mb/s read 1700mb/s write.
MP34 1tb is rated for up to 3000mb/s read 2600mb/s write
Do I need an additional 4 pin for x570 and r5 3600?
Extra cpu 4 pin? no
Ok
You don't need x570 for 3600 either
I don't plan to overclock
You won't ever need it for 3rd gen ryzen
Then just get b450
I want expand at some point
unless you're OCing a 3950x
4th gen stuff
Then get b550
Well, you don't need to
(I mean they promised b450 compatibility with 4th gen lol)
Depends if the mobo brand sends a bios update, yh
Double checking. That mobo has wifi right, bob?
QQ I hate being reliant on wifi. It's a stock router too, so the wifi connection itself tends to be crap.
Nifty. Thx.
Should the TP-Link one work you think?
I mean, if it's a old stock router, you won't need more
Would the stock fan on the 5 be good for any kind of overclocking?
You can get a 500gb ssd for that price
ewe well. It's the GPU that would need the oc more if I had to guess.
Tbh I'd need it to be at least 1TB of storage. That said, i dont mind the fatter ssd's.. what are they? Are those still called SATA?
why 1tb
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/7FyVvW
Here's a better wifi still with 1TB
just curious
You can get like a WD blue for only like 15 bucks more with 512
didn't you say you had another 500gb disk?
I download a lot of games. My PS4 is full at 500GB, I'd hate to see how quick my PC would eat it
WD Blue is sata
ye
My 500 gig disk is in my ps4
They have a nvme blue with 500 gb
???
At least on Amazon it’s on sale for 65
which one
Hm. I like this build, bob. It's nice.
WD Blue SN550 500GB NVMe Internal SSD - Gen3 x4 PCIe 8Gb/s, M.2 2280, 3D NAND, Up to 2,400 MB/s - WDS500G2B0C https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07YFF3JCN/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_rDp.EbHHZVPCC
Ye
SN550 has no dram
I believe for nvme dram isn’t that important
It is very important
Um, actually...
yea
Yeah
It's like the most important part
I'd rather have a Sata drive with dram than a NVMe drive without dram
:P
I believe for nvme and Ryzen it’s taken care of with the ram
Is the Samsung 860QVO a good SSD?
It's QLC, isn't it?
I believe Linus talked about it not being needed
@agile bear That's for drives with HMB
but it's very important to have one of the two
I'm looking at that build bob put up, but nixing the HDD and SSD for a 1TB Samsung.
You pay for the brand with samsung
I'd recommend sticking with the NVMe + HDD
You can set up a cache if you want faster reads off of the HDD
and 130 gets you a 1tb mp34
$100 even on partpicker. Not sure what site.
Amazon
Checked the list, the SN550 has no HMB, avoid it like the plague
Nvme isn’t that important for most people so idk
qvo 1tb for 100$ is decent
What is HMB?
Sata ssds are fine, but nvmes are very nice
it makes the ssd use your ram instead of having dedicated dram
It will be slightly more expensive than the two drives in there
860 QVO is qlc tho
Basically, it's a way for SSD manufacturers to cheap out and introduce a bit more latency while using up some of your ram
QLC doesn't matter so much on sata
Ah. So that's lame. Something to watch out for
Less endurance still, but speed pffft
I'm not sure
HMB is fine, just slightly worse than having actual dram
Oh jeez. Problem. Cant believe I forgot to mention this.
I'd still lean towards an nvme and hdd, just because you get that much more speed for a little bit cheaper
Watcha got?
well
I do not have an OS. rip.
Ebay
Meh
I dont linux. Sorry. Lazy when it comes to software lol.
Linux is stupidly easy to use
GTA, Skyrim, Forza, American Truck Sim, Watch_dogs 2
Did you see the LTT gaming on Linux video?
The what where now?
You can get a Linux gaming machine up and running faster than a windows one

Linux g...
I havn't :P
Watch dogs is an ubi game, darn it
rip
Listed as working though, so idk
ngl though, Linux is actually more user friendly than windows
Watching the video.
I just use win10 for compatibility with like 95% of things
This is one I can have floating on my phone while I mess around elsewhere lol
easy and you don't have to check if anything is compatible
Yeah, if you need cheap, Linux is getting pretty good for gaming lately though
The tl;dr I'm getting right now is my life would be a little better with Linux if I use an AMD GPU

AMD does play much nicer though
Too many choices lol. Little overwhelmed... gonna have to sit and think.
If you don't like choices, use windows
What should be a good motherboard for the 280x from corsair with 4 ram slots
@sharp perch what CPU are you looking at?
linux is a lighter OS
so i think its a bit faster right?
some people install chrome OS onto older laptops for speed
It will run faster on older hardware, or if you're puhing your system to the absoulte limits
For gaming systems, it won't really make a difference
Built pretty much what you did, bob, entirely on newegg (lazy. Multiple checkouts? Bleh) and was wondering why it was coming out higher than on pcpart.
Realised I picked a 2TB HDD instead of 1. Duh. That'll save some money lol

Does anyone know if b450 motherboards come ryzen 3000 ready out of the box?
Specifally the asus rog strix model
@shell haven Doesn't say on the website but it should
unupdated bioses are an old thing
and if it doesn just get one from amd
yeah i bought a ryzen 3700x and im not sure what to do if its not compatiablle
k ill look up abt it later
Good Evening everyone. New to Discord here. I am looking for some help with a new build I am working on if anyone can help with this frustrating problem.
@novel urchin what's your problem?
Hoi I have a b450m pro4, will using a NVME drive take away anything such as a sata port
I know when I had a aourus b450 it did
read your motherboard guid and it should tell you which ones you cant use
@tepid basalt I recently purchased some PC components to build a new gaming PC. Specs are
A320M-HDV R4.0 MB
Ryzen 3 3200G with Vega graphics
Intel 660p SSD 512GB
Patriot Viper 8 GB DDR4 (PVE48G266C6KGY) (4GB x2) Ram
Rosewell 600w PSU
Asus DVDRW Sata
Geforce 1050 ti GPU (Nvidia)
Windows 10 Pro 64 bit
Nod 32 AV
The first time I installed Windows it constantly crashed WHILE installing! It was heartbreaking! I did manage to get windows 10 running but it was unstable as hell and kept crashing. I suspected it was MB so I returned it and still kept crashing so I sent ALL the parts back and got all new exact same parts. This time I got it running pretty stable (I am on it right now) yet sporadically it keeps crashing! From Kmode Exceptions, Memory Managment (No driver or file mentioned) Kernel Data inpage error all pointing to Ntoskrnl.exe in Blue Screen Viewer in mini dump files as well as completely locking up whenever I even attempt to play youtube videos. (Yeah I disabled Hardware acceleration as well No luck) Now I have run all mem diagnostics windows diag, memtest, SFC, DISM I tested SDD with Windows Chkdsk as well as Intel's Diag tool no problems there. All drivers are up to date and it's a fresh clean install of windows. I finally got around to checking ASROCK's support page listing supported memory. Seems this ram is NOT on that list. I was wondering could that be the problem I am using memory not supported?
maybe, maybe not
you have to stress test the ram to find out
so what can you do with the computer without crash?
I did windows Mem diag standard 15 passes. I attempted to do the extended test but it was taking so long (6 hours and only 2% of first pass completed)
you can just use the memtest in dram calculator
I can go on Firefox, I can play Zuma for a while w/o crashing (But now windows 10 is having problems with the origin client they are working on a fix for that)I can play Stronghold HD in steam as well for hours no problems
so what you do that make the computer crash?
Sometimes if I even pass over a youtube video the PC locks up as well.
like instant crash the moment you touch it
or crash after a while?
watching youtube video?
Youtube videos instant crash either that or it locks up completely frozen.
Hello
can't even watch them
Im back for like the 15 th time this week
have you tried to use the computer without the gpu?
yeah the integrated GPU has the same issues.
I had question but ill wait
I did that first off the bat
Hey i was wanting some more opinions on a 3900X and a RTX 2070 super and if its a good match
Ran the bare bones system with no extra peripherals or add-ons.
Hey i was wanting some more opinions on a 3900X and a RTX 2070 super and if its a good match
@proper belfry I suppose you use the 3900x for work, so I'll say they're good together
The GPU is good I tested it on another machine. Works great
All new parts.
ah not with this board I guess
Nah, hesitant about doing that. Maybe I should give it a shot
There is only one bios update for this board it's currently running Bios ver 3.30. The next update is 3.70
Update AMD AGESA Combo-AM4 1.0.0.4 Patch B
opps can't post the link to the Asrock support page
I am hesitant becuase I am not sure what that update even addresses as there is no release notes about it.
@tepid basalt i would be using the PC for work and gaming
There is only one bios update for this board it's currently running Bios ver 3.30. The next update is 3.70
@novel urchin I think you should try to update the bios
but before that
stress test the rams with dram calculator first
Yeah firefox tab just crashed again. Crap. I did a search to get more info on the Bios and while scrolling tab crashed. GRRR.
I'll do the stress test with MEMTEST Dram calculator. Thanks for the tip. just discussing it is helping with my headache lmao
Yeah firefox.
Hey what would i put into this slot????
@misty heron nothing, that's for error checking
It didn't crash the browser just the tab
Got to set up my USB for memtest. I will get back to you Karozy with the outcome.
okay
@novel urchin btw don't use easy mode, use the memtest mode or sth, I can't recall the name, you'll know when you see it
not sure if there's a better place to ask but i've been wondering about getting some nice braided sata cables and found either corsair with a more tubular shape or cablemod that are flatter. anyone have any opinions on those or any others out there?
Cablemod is nice. If you aren't doing custom made cables and buy from them, go for Amazon as you then save $20 on shipping
First timer on things and was wondering if this is a good build or would I need to upgrade anything?
Ryzen 5 3600
Asrock b550
Team mp4 512 GB m.2 ssd
Seagate firecuda 2tb
Gigabyte geforce rtx 2070 super
Corsair txm gold 550 w
What ram?
No ram, all swap
Team T-FORCE VULCAN Z 16 GB (2 x 8 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory
Coward
Might wanna go for 3600 ram for amd
For a 3600, not that much of a biggie
But everything else is good?
Ditch the fire cuda and just get a barracuda
Alright I'll do that
What case are you getting?
NZXT H510 black
Of course you are
There's not some other case you like?
The h510 is extremely cliche at this point... basically everyone who comes here wants to use it.
It also has bad airflow and cooling
What would you recommend? I dont have a preference really 🤷🏿♀️
Basically anything but the nzxt
Just scroll around and pick one that looks nice and fits all your components, then check back in to make sure it's got good airflow. Case is largely what you think will look good
it's not exactly bad airflow
it even helps the gpu stays very cool
I've never had any problem with it so far
my cpu temp may be high at 7x, close to 8x but that's because I'm using the stock cooler
and the case has nothing to do with it
Case with no basement 😳
Does that just mean PSU is on top, no hard drive tray under a PSU shroud?
and I just realize they install the gpu to the 2nd pcie slot
reinforced pcie slot: am I a joke to you?
That makes me sad inside
My brother's old Biostar board has the main slot on the bottom
They aren't even using the first m.2 slot wtf
that sounds like biostar
Why they got gpu in the 2nd slot, using the psu as support?
I think they want to show off that gpu anti-sag
I hope they changed it back afterwards...
They aren't even using the first m.2 slot wtf
@silk estuary also, I find using the 2nd m.2 slot actually makes sense thermally
I mean, yeah I have mine in my second slot but only because my 1st gpu slot makes it so my 1st m2 slot doesnt work
I'm planning on vertical mounting my gpu, putting the cable in the second slot, and getting a second m2
Well it's either the mobo or i was an idiot
I'm using the asrock extreme4

which slots are you using rn
bc one is for wifi
I doubt you'd mistake wifi slot
just to be sure
Pcie 1 and M2 Wi-Fi, (cuz I have a m2 wifi card), as well as m2 2
That's physically impossible for a longer drive tho lol
Yh
so the m2_1 doesn't work?
I haven't tested it since I installed windows
But it worked when I had my gpu in the second pcie16 slot
I'll try it again tomorrow with gpu in pcie1 and the m2 in the first slot
How many lanes are in the second 16x slot?
they're both x16
I find it dumb because if you happen to need to replace the m.2, you'll have to remove the gpu for that
Yes but how many lanes go to the second slot lol
Is it truly 16 lanes 👀
Ok
Ok well it's midnight ima continue this talk later cuz i work tomorrow lol
gn
Night
And I wait for power supplies to not be so freaking rare. I'm beginning to think it'll be September before I actually get to build my PC
Lol same
I ordered one from B&H that's backordered
Gonna be a while before I get to turn my computer back on
Right now all I have is case. (It was on sale for a good price and I moved on it)
q
@marsh kiln I would not buy a Samsung ssd. MP34 is lots cheaper and provides most of the performance
Otherwise looks solid
All my homies hate Samsung SSDs 😎
I have green PCB Samsung RAM
Lol
puts rgb ram in a optiplex
😳
green PCB noises
Just coat everything in flex seal
Then you have a nice black pcb
Under a quarter inch of cheap rubberiod stuff
Xd
how much 1080 goes for?
GTX 1080?
yeah, i believe so
That moment when a guy on craigslist wants to pay for a computer with a cashiers check 🙄
1080 XT
like the 5700xt is better
What motherboard do y’all recommend for a ryzen 5 3600
A decent B450 or B550
if you can find one a msi b450 tomahawk is the go to motherboard for most people
@little osprey if you plan on making bunches of upgrades go 550
@last tendon bro i tried looking everywhere for an msi b450 but they were out of stock every single place
Which windows version should i get for my pc??
Yes just go to eBay
To get a key
And lots of sellers sell pro so you can get pro if you want
Kk ty
That happens sometimes
32gb of ram gang
Most people don't need 32GB
well I got my 32gb basically for free
If free, that's fine
i got 64 for free lmao
we need a tachanka trailer
a new one
for his rework
can someone help
with what
gimme some details
where does it go
Can’t find hd audio
You don't need it
mmmmmmmm
lower left of the motherboard
^
probably something like "FP audio"
Should be in motherboard manual
yes

I'm probably the only one who reads all the manuals before building
it says aafp
LMAO
I absolutely love reading manuals
i read my motherboard manual online multiple times before purchasing it lol
Who doesn't?
mmmmmmmmm
idk crazy people
2.2
read the whole damn thing
Front io connector most likely
2.2.2
Nvm
Lol
I would still read it all tho
Especially since your a first time builder
we got it boys

I wonder if all them eBay window keys are keygen'd, commercial versions, or just from another country. Whatevs
lmao
@little osprey
MP34 is like $4 more and is a much better SSD. In the future, ask for help w/ builds in here rather than #build-pics 🙂
PSU is a solid choice
Tho you could probably just get this https://pcpartpicker.com/product/FdRFf7/ and save $25
@potent prairie thx bro
what’s next 😭
enable D.O.C.P, so your ram will run at the proper speed, it defaults to the slower 2133mhz out of the box
do you guys think that a 550w psu will be good for now until psu stocks are back to normal
@latent storm what make and model
Uh for what CPU+GPU?
ryzen 5 3600 and founders edition 2070 super
i mean later down the road when i upgrade y’know
Alrighty then
I wish the psu Supplies would level out soon, psu is the only piece I'm missing for my build and my corsair is back ordered
@crude otter get the supernova 550 g3 right now
this is the first time i’ve seen it in stock in weeks
@fast dust i have no idea right now tbh
for reference to my pics
Back ordered a corsair rm750x, should know in the next few days if itll ship or not.
same
How much fps would i lose if i started streaming?
I have a ryzen 5 3600
And my 1050 mini is giving me like 150+ fps on fortnite so im thinking i should return my 2060super
ahh man id keep it
maybe in that game non
In the event that i get like 90fps during end zone
idk if it locks it at a max
yea
there are other task your card might be better at anyways and other games might lean on harder task and still look worse for example arma3
can i get some help in #graphics-cards
