Yup
Hey guys so I connected the GPU, made sure to connect the HDMI from the GPU to the monitor and still no display. GPU fans were spinning as well.
You connected the power cables to the gpu right? The card is properly seated?
Card is properly seated, everything is pressed firm and clicked in. I had to use a 6-to-8 pin adaptor for the GPU. One thing I noticed was that the black cables all face the clip on while on the 8pin connection for the motherboard, the yellow wires face the clip. Is that common?
That's fun though
I got everything, even a wifi usb adapter
But, it's all sitting in the shipping boxes
x570?
450
So I got a gigabyte 450 for $180 with an Asus 2.4/5 wifi adapter for $35
I also sacrificed a 2060/1660 for 570
ouch
Yeah
And I got a, I believe, rosewill challenger S
But like I said, sitting in their boxes still
There's the list as far as I remember
that 570 is not good
ye
but if it's already bought, nothing to do now
It's just, 620 is getting a bit dull
When I checked there werent
What country do you live in
For example, in the US, for at least the past month or two, the zotac twin fan has been steadily at 160$ in stock
B&H tho, not in stock at Newegg.
@fierce flame love your build
Amazing
That gpu us very expensive when i saw it online a while ago.
Those fan lighting effects are so good
You did a great job on everything
Ultra clean setup
Well maybe the 24 pin could be better but who cares
@wide sparrow the cpu cable, 24 pin and PCIE cables are place holders until my cablemod ones get here
other than that really thats it.
Yeah
No just get a beefy air cooler
Intel for the best gaming performance, AMD for streaming, Gaming, editing @little osprey
But intel cost a lot
@toxic widget i have no objection
Intel is best for gaming if you have the money*
99.9% of the time an Intel gaming machine would end up being worse due to lowering the GPU budget for the CPU budget
thats why intel gei
that's going to change...
10400f with a bottom b or h board will outperform amd's rig at the same price point in gaming
the difference is not big
doesn't make sense to upgrade, but makes perfect sense for new builds
Hey guys, I'm new here
Just wanted some advice on how to upgrade my current pc
I got a Gigabyte 2070 and i5 9400F
what monitor do you have
benq xl2546 240hz
I mainly play cs go but the fps isnt the best
idk why
its like 190-230
that would be because of your cpu
hitting 240fps in games takes more than graphics power
im sure 9th gen intel cpus have gone down in price due to the launch of 10th gen, so upgrading that would be your best bet
u recommend upgrading to i7 right
9700k would be ideal
I don't think he has a Z board
9900k isnt worth the extra money
non K is better
40 usd difference
and I don't think lower base affect much in gaming
it also helps your cpu run cooler when not game
the boost is also just 200mhz difference
so yeah it might not be worth the extra
but also about his motherboard...
yea amd is a better budget option bc it comes with a cooler
Also because it is cheaper in general
Say what?
intel is a brand name, and has better performance for price
with that, higher price
AMD has better performance for price and is also a brand name
not as much as intel
It is now
not rlly
AMD is basically the fastest growing tech company in the world
if u look at any cmopany that builds computers, apple, hp, dell, etc. they all use intel chips
im not saying ur wrong
but as of rn, intel is still bigger
intel has the brand value
There are tons of oem manufacturers that are using amd. The only reason that there aren't more is amd ryzen is still new and there hasn't been time to design around it
Fixed it, I was talking about ryzen
ah
well u may be right abt more ppl switching to AMD, but again, as of right now, all the biggest computer building companies use intel core or xeon.
samd for nvidia vs amd gpus
So so. The really big ones are using both. Apple is using amd gpu and is switching to arm processors
thats in the 6000$ mac pro which u could easily get a POWERHOUSE PC
apple is discontinuing the mac pro bc they failed there
You cited apple before, that's why I cited it here
well
it was there chance to enter the world of high end processing and gaming pcs
wdym
Yup
and admitted Epyc rome was the most powerful chips avaliable
The dgx a100, the most powerful single computer ever built, uses amd
And it's built and designed by nvidia
well amd does have a 4000$ chip that no commercial user will buy
Intel has far more expensive chips than that, let's be real
you're talking high end
And they don't perform anywhere near as well
AMD is the king of high end and low end
im talking abt things ordinary ppl can affford
intel is the middle ground
Yup
pretty neat
better performance for a slightly higher price
AMD has the middle ground too
where
also, afordable for normal people and you're rocking a 10980 with sli?
AMD has 3300x to 3950x
ignore my build, thats for my specialty purposes
3100x is there too
It's okay
decent chip if you really need to spare 20$ in the budget
If you really need cheap
lmao this is the part where I scream INTEL FOREVER!, stab myself, and fall of the bridge
jkjk
i get it
It actually outclasses most i7's from two generations ago
2 generations ago
So eh.. i need help
Yeah, that includes the 7700k
can we just not dwell on this
The MSI b450 tomahawk max is out of stock
Sounds about righ @bright shale
How long does it take to restock things like that
or... will it even come back lmao
Maybe months, who knows rn
corona making stock bad, I can reccomend some other boards that might be in stock tho
Yup
Sure!
What's the specs for the rest of your build
Exactly $286 for SSD, RAM, and MOBO
Okay then
Friend bought me the cpu lol
How much do we have until b550?
a while
oof
1 tb
That's an hdd, isn't it?
286 before or after tax
this is 285 before tax :P
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HCQcL2
Yeah
Oof
nothing wrong with mATX
Wait for a sale on newegg for ssd
well
I got an intel 660p for $85
could put in a vulcan or something that's a good 2.5in drive
Is it your harddrive that;s dead?
yeah
Not your pc?
but while im at it i wanna upgrade from an i3 4150 lmao
265$ before tax
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WvxRx6
That's fine as long as the data is intact. Did windows give you some sort of warning?
no
thats mobo ram ssd
decent mobo, decent ram, decent ssd.
and it failed the HDD test
rip
trying to find a good mobo in stock
this is a really budget board but maybe
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1543527-REG/gigabyte_b450m_ds3h_motherboard.html
basically no
this is back ordered but that's about it
https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1426715-REG/asus_prime_b450_plus_prime_b450_plus_am4.html
btw you can put a mATX board in an ATX case
it just looks smaller, nothing else is different
I know
I have mATX right now
How's that?
it looks pretty ight
Hehehehehehehahhahah aaaaaaaaaaaaaaahahahaha
yes
I have a corsair carbide spec 04
What case is it?
tempered glass
Yeah, it will fit just fine there
decent
cool
So bought 6600k ASRock Z170 16GB 3200 Gskill. Now I've been getting a ton of BSODs. Did memetest no errors. Reset windows (kept files), swapped sata cables, tried different slots, tried 1 stick at a time, completely rebuilt machine. No idea what the damn issue is. Anyone got any insight?
Just ordered new sticks of 3200. BIOS on all stock so it's not even running at 3200. 2133
what are the bsod codes
I get WHEA uncorrectable mostly. Got IRQL twice last night
Might be one of the files you kept. That's basically the only thing that hasn't changed
Weird though as I had no issues with 4690k. Had blue screens sometimes but that was from OC
tried clean install yet?
Was playing Warzone last night. Got to an end of a match and stuttering and lag started. Exited and blue screen
could be the drive is corrupted or damaged, or some files are corrupted
Wait, did you keep the files from the 4960k build?
Reason: Bad word usage
About to do it
Yeah I just did a reset with keeping the files. Deletes apps. Did windows change something with that option?
don't think so
do you have a spare drive around?
because you could try just swapping out for another drive and just clean install windows
I got like 2 SSDs and two hdds but they got games on them.
Could partition though.
Really think it's windows? Just went through installing everything again. Rip
Windows craps itself sometimes
*in the machine in use
can you format one of them that doesn't have important files? you can reinstall games later if it's just a 120gb drive or something
Yeah I never have had this before just randoms from OCing
not like it's shutting off suddenly from PSU tripping or something
yw
can someone make me a pcpp list.
It will be used for streaming, gaming.
Budget $750
I am purchasing tomorrow
@gloomy snow what res/fps?
1080p 60
also what games
im aiming towards a 3600 cpu (since im gonna be streaming)
people say that its hard streaming on a 1660
that doesn't mean anything
It's hard building a budget build without it
thats why i tried going with a 2060 (but its over budget)
Especially buying tomorrow. Eberything is OOS rn
1660 ti/super are the best GPU choice for a single pc streaming setup in that price range.
Yeah
also u cant fit a 3600 into ur budget probably, and 16-- series is fine
I would go 2nd gen ryzen 5

All of those games are pretty light... You want to try fitting a 2700x in there?
not an x
Just get a 3600 on sale for $167
Some $90 b450 max board, 2x8GB 3600 mhz ram for <$80, etc
I don't think there is a 2700 non x, is there?
there is
wtf
750 streaming gaming in stock now
I bought one on prime day for $150 lol
Yes
I'll make a list
@gloomy snow Do you have any parts that we can reuse from an old pc?
3300x is more expensive than 3600 rn lolol
lol
hot damn
What are the specs on the old system? Does it have a PSU we can pull?
maybe some RAM?
Are you building a budget system with intel, Antago?
everythings backordered lmfao
no @sand falcon
no, bob
okay
lmao ofc not
I was worried there
Just recycle the 1TB drive for storage. Grab a $70 500GB WD black or whatever is on sale.
Could maybe go to a 256GB ssd
from amazon
What brand?
@gloomy snow ram u could reuse?
wait
no no no
19 votes and 12 comments so far on Reddit
i currently have a prebuilt
Mp34 tho
its trash
forks
but recycle the parts tho
my ram has no heatsyncs
You can still pull stuff from it
and runs 2200
thats fine?
ram is ram
No heatsink is fine
eh they're close enough
id rather get new stuff
What ssd are you looking at geting?
What part number?
I have a nice list for u
Nice
unless forks you got anything in stock around?
Kingston A400 240G Internal SSD M.2 2280 SA400M8/240G - Increase Performance @sand falcon
no dont
im only using to boot windows
No
a400 is dramless
im on a budget
Still no
$700-$750
It will die in about three years
Everyone's on a budget
yea
try that
i also have 3 fans
cases come with fans
true
You'll be fine at that budget with one stick
@gloomy snow 1 stick faster than 2 sticks
thats good @stoic island
Dual channel matters a lot
Also Antago you have a 2600 in there
i should be able to stream 1080p off 1660 super?
Wait, if you have a prebuilt, can we use that case?
Reason: Bad word usage
Will it work?
yeah, but i dont wanna do it
Honestly tho - get a 3600, b450, 2x8GB 3600mhz, some 500GB NVME like the one I linked or whatever they recommend here, then some 1660 ti or super
forks thats basically my list lol
You're squeeking bare minimum on your system specs. If we drop the case we can get better parts
How much to get a 1660ti in there?
1660ti usually not worth more than 1660 super
740$, now with 512gb of nvme storage
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/76cGgJ
yea
I'm thinking if we can get in that case, we can get a 2060
fair enough
but this list
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/76cGgJ
why did I guess banhammer was box
lol
who else would have a name like banhammer
I'm thinking we can get in the case Mr1111, check buld pics
@sand falcon check #build-pics
exactly
dunno
+glass = no glass
p300a is nice, but need a bit more fans
The side panel looks to come off
yes
What's the wattage on the PSU?
what exact psu is it
yee
yea
check
i cant
Probably some kinda sketchy metal one?
wdym, search the model number
damn, thats cold
ugh
What's the part number of the prebuilt itself. We might be able to find it from that
yeah
I'm thinking reusing the case might not be worth with the glass front
why cant i send pcpp links?
Take the http off the front and it works
@stoic island You're most recent link doesn't have a 512 ssd in it....
Just to make sure, you don't need wifi, right?
(have ethernet)
why?
There's no way it will be able to handle the bandwidth
the cable?
Yes
i live with my parentss,
Okay
not sure how my mom would feel about a long ass wire
lol
running through the hallway
a good pcie wifi adapter might be enough
Drop back to 256gb and we should be able to fit a pcie adapter
eh
@sand falcon check #build-pics
I see
what is it
What's on the otherside?
Yeah
looks like 2 usbs?
no
could be either ethernet or usb adapter
No circular holes?
no
yeah my mom is strict. she wouldnt like a wire running across the floor
she would unplug it mid stream and laugh

would the stream be TERRIBLE? With the usb adapter?
im sure it will handle decently?
@sand falcon
latency and stuff
Yes
is that bad?
Is the adapter itself usb 2 or 3 though
how i check?
if you know the model
it only works in that usb
Does it have any sort of part number on it?
Is that the only usb 3.0 port your computer has?
The dongle came with it I take it?
huh
Adapters like that are called dongles idk why
yup
this is confusing
That's normal
so should i keep the case?
maybe?
only prooblem, the glass front panel
exactly
🤮
You are learning fast
i can also mount the fans at the top of the case
for intake
and the back one for exhaust
Is there a grill on top?
Hmmmm
ill take a pic
interesting
MSI makes wifi adapters lol
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07L777MTB
That could work. Looks like no dust filter though
who cares
Dust
Is this thing glass on both sides?
the panels?
Yeah
Okay then
will dusting off my fans increase cooling performance
i wanna re use my rgb fans as well
It will decrease dust
will it aid cooling?
because my i5 2400 and 1060 gets hot while using fortnite or photoshop
maybe because i have bad parts
and a bad cpu cooler
How hot?
What temperature?
not sure
Anything up to about 160F is normal
Can you touch it?
If you can touch it for 30+ seconds, it's good
For a budget build with the fans on the top I think it could work
and leaves room for better gpu
actually yea
OOS?
save the money
yea
what do you have now
Is 5 dollars over budget okay?
yeah
mobo oos
back ordered*
Whats that
For streaming though if we can get nvenc that will be good
yea
Also rtx voice
tf is that
It's amazing
Let me find the video
Most "AI" is just a gimmick, but Nvidia's new RTX Voice is the real deal.
Check out RTX Voice at https://lmg.gg/rENbC
Buy NVIDIA RTX Video Cards
On Amazon (Paid Link): https://geni.us/tz2bNcD
On BHPhoto (Paid Link): https://geni.us/JkTHj
On NewEgg (Paid Link): https:...
the tl;dr is AI driven noise-suppression using your GPU to process it
Since you share a house, this will be a big help
it's pretty genius and works pretty well too
ah
And yeah, you can run it on non rtx cards but that's really sketchy and impacts performance
so if my moms blasting bloody country music, they wont hear it?
The cool thing is that it uses the rtx cores, which most games don't use anyways so there's basically no performance hit
Yes
Yup
THANK GOD
Go to the end of the video
it works really well but does have it's bugs, it is a very early access feature
It still uses cuda rn and takes ram usage
in my experience
GN did some performance testing
ah
It will take ram, but yeah
yeah it's still basically late alpha/early beta stage as far as 'ready for launch'
Not much though
look for yourself
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_obMmLXlP4
This benchmark tests NVIDIA RTX Voice for gaming performance impact, mostly to determine if RT hardware is even being used. 2080 Super, 2060, and GTX 1080 included.
Sponsor: be quiet! Straight Power 11 Platinum (https://geni.us/l2yOrw8 | be quiet! website)
There are plenty of...
yea
Super cool though
it takes a bit more than 1gb of ram at first, but then drops down more around 30MB
it's like 10% performance hit
ye my board just shipped
it's a sizable hit
How much more is the ko? Cheapest 2060 out there is already over budget
Might be okay then
we are at $670 on pcpp
if we can get an $85 motherboard (which will be HARD) we will be perfect
getting a motherboard for less than 85 is easy
in stock?
You also will need a wifi card
A lot
@gloomy snow if its back ordered it will ship within like a day
Can get cheaper ram
i need 2x8gb 3200-3600
Hey yall. I just finished putting my build together and im having some issues. Anyone here that can give me some pointers?
all i need now is the motherboard
Whatever ram Mr.1111 found before
@sand falcon what motherboards are in stock on newegg?
Basically none
Add a cheap pcie wifi card
yeah
where do i find that on pcpp
what category
can i just get an usb wifi thing with an antenna
Those are the ones you want
yessir
Don't get a usb one
is this one good
less reliable
Maybe? My specialty is in wired/fiber, so I don't really know
according to review it only opperates on 2.4ghz
Reason: Bad word usage
shite
That's okay though. The signal will be going through the wall
The usb you have rn is probably a 2.4GHz one
How much budget are we at for mobo+wifi again?
If it weren't for stocking issues rn we could probably just find a wifi mobo
yeah
umm
on pcpp (with the pcie wifi) we are at $671
the cheapest mobo with wifi is $130
on pcpp
that brings it to $785
That's a no go
So either a $79 motherboard or wait for stock to come back
Yeah you're gonna wanna look for 802.11ac or ax adapters
why does the ducky one 2 mini type so fast
Let me check if newegg has any sales rn
yeah im gonna check pcpp
Does anyone know if I would be allowed to share my promo code?
with 3rd gen?
3600
your likeliness to have 3rd gen ready bios is low
oh
A320 is gonna be rough
doesn't even list 3rd gen
but its sold out
Anyone wanna check an intel build to see if the mobo situation there is any better?
newegg has borderlands and civ6 on sale. lol
@gloomy snow it says it's backordered but it will ship in a few days
where?
Any of these parts might take longer than that, just fyi. There has been some raiding on shipping
It will be here tommorow
Not much, but we've got some people here that could have been affected
yes
Right now it does. It's usually easy
and i cant keep the current one becase its intel, and im hwid banned on so many games
Wait, why are you banned?
anyway though, $95 motherboard with built in wifi, in stock and ready to ship
If that works, you will want to buy it asap
watch it be out of stock right when im about to buy
That's why you buy this one as soon as we check that it will work
Maybe 5%?
oh shite
Yeah
im praying
I would just get the mobo now
i cant
@sand falcon
i have to transfer the money to my dads card
and im not with him
thats why tomorrow i see him
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
F\
F
Seasonic or nothing
nothing
Rip
I too like nothing powered computers
This is fact
@sand falcon just saw this abt, remembered our disscusion earlier

Mess with it until you get what you want :D
Tune your own fan curve until you like it
Magic
my own what
Your name is purple now.
I'm still 5000 messages away from #5...
Oh, is that how it works?
Ohhhh.
More roles than a bakery
I wanna be labeled as a "Techie"
None of these randomly added roles.
Actually TBH, I would rather be Newegg Staff. xD
I wish they hired for my position as a work at home position.
What else is new
I want to be working for wegg too
I want more roles
So it was Chopsticks doing then eh?
I'm so close to gold
Looks like my dram calculator profile worked
Time to test
If this works I'm gonna keep it this
I will be honest, I don't like when a Discord "server" has a ton of "roles" that are pointless. I am a part of an pilot "server" that does this and it's just hard to tell who's who.
The Techie roll made sense.
Roles are fun tho
Personally I think we should follow the classic Diablo/ every other video game since's item rarity scale
But it makes the rolls pointless. You can hardly tell who's who.
It's not too excessive here, gotta space people out :p
Tho maybe a bit too many roles
It's excessive.
Grey - rookie
green -regular
blue - regular+
purple - you get the idea
Like lvl 3, lvl 15, lvl 40 could be better
People just coming in looking for help will be less likely to know who's who.
Ya, I noticed that a bit - I think we'll still make a few more changes
pimk :D
3 for pic sending, 15 for they've been around, and 40 for talkative people
Vs, the old way, someone coming in could see people who got Techie status know what they're talking about.
We just added the new colors a few days ago
Idk, I don't use that to test memory
Gonna let it sit for like half an hour, good nuff?
Check the pins in #overclocking or something
Depends how much memory you have and how long it takes for a full-coverage test
lets delete all roles
I'd use memtest HCI

32gb
memtest86 is still a classic
delete all rol
Yea
Memtest86 boots from usb tho
And I'd like to have bios on usb
Memtest86 took about 20min when I was doing it a while back, so 30min on p95 should work.
Buy more usb's
Or get one of those fancy ones with built-in multiboot
Or just create multiple boot options in one usb with software
For memtest it makes sense to take longer, since you're testing the whole memory array. Vs Prime95, you just need to heat up the CPU to operating temp and run enough through it to claim stability.
As per Linus video earlier, when it was made intel did still have a very slight advantage at the very top of the line, but those few fps are going to cost you a couple hundred bucks. Also, the zen2 refresh is slated to turn that around
I don't think Intel can do anything about it either unless they've been saving their 10nm manufacturing process for this exact moment.
does anyone know of any decent b450 motherboards that are actually in stock rn
wait the strix b450f gaming is in stock, anything wrong with that board?
thank you
Hey can someone help me troubleshoot a build?
