if i were to go pre built i was thinking Acer predator
That's a lot
Hey guys. Should I go with the 3 standard fans with the "Fractal Design Define 7" case, or add 1 or 2 now and not have to worry about it later? Think all 3 fans are either 120 or 140mm. 2 front 1 rear.
I often do run AC during summer... so an extra fan or 2?
*do not run AC
Hey chat quick question for anyone whos willing to listen
I have a 1660ti, i5-9600k, 2x 4g G.Skill Ripjaws and a case in spare parts. Would anyone mind helping with the rest? (building a functioning PC)
Not looking for anything crazy as this is truly just to make use of old parts. But I do have $300 right no I could use toward it
More ram
Ssd
Hard drive
Maybe a better cooler
80+ gold psu
That would be under 200 I think
So I do not know to much (but I am getting there)
Motherboard
PSU
SSD
RAM
Those are adds correct?
Oh yeah I thought u had one lol
Yeah
If u have the budget get a better stock cooler
Not better stock cooler a better cooler
lol, I know that - I am asking for recommendations (perhaps Pcpartpickers)
as to specifics (compatible) hardware with the existing components
Can you put what you already have in a pcpp list?
Yes, just a momeent
The Hitachi is from and old PC I could use (but assuming its crap because that machine was)
Anyone know what controller i need to control the rgb of the nzxt x63
Wait so I OC my i7 7700k to 4.9ghz 1.27V and somehow it has a worse performance then when it was at 4.8Ghz 1.265V on userbench??
I mean 1.265V ^^
Does anyone wanna help me build a PC...real quick I just need a bit of help..looking for something $400 - $600 range. If you can help me (with websites and all) put together a PC, that would be nice. Thank you. DM me
quick question im back lol um is it possible to play a game on a new product monitor from msi called Optix G241VC but at the same time dont turn on vsync gsync or free sync reason behind this question is that my desktop compareed to my laptop the desktop has a huge heat sink on the cpu and the asus gtx 980 ti strix has 3 fans but i dont think its compatible with gsync vsync or freesync
or should i get a monitor while at the same time get a 1660 ti to enable free sync this is my 2015 build blew a compressor air to take the dust out its brand new again --- PC Specs:
GPU - ASUS STRIX GEFORCE® GTX 980 Ti
Motherboard - Asus Z170 PRO GAMING
CPU - Intel Core i7-6700K 8M Skylake Quad-Core 4.0 GHz LGA 1151
CPU Fan - Cooler Master: Hyper TX3 EVO
Ram Memory - Crucial Ballistix Sport 8GB DDR4-2400 x2 16GB
Main (operating system )SSD - Intel® SSD 540s Series 480GB
Operating System - Windows 10 Pro
Power Supply - Thermaltake SMART 730 W
Mechanical Storage - Western Digital WD Green WD20EARX 2TB
SSD - SanDisk SSD PLUS 2.5" 120GB SATA III Internal Solid State ---- and my last question will a 1660 ti even be able to game in a 2015 pc build or should i just turn of all sync and get the monnitor since it has super cooling and wont stutter at 1080p gaming
@true comet
i added a 550w psu and 512gb ssd, i don’t know much about intel boards tbh so i didn’t bother with the motherboard but left ~$110 for it
On cinebench it says my i7 7700k @ 4.9ghz 1.27V gets a 947cb is that bad???
probably not
Are u sure???
R15? bit low, but within reason
I assume it's delidded? 4.9 on 1.27 vcore is great
@open brook ya if it's g sync compatible, it should work with a 900 series gpu
should i put some more voltage?
oh wait
What are load temps like? Check out the pins in #overclocking btw
IIRC 900 series nvidia can't do g-sync compatible
yeah i read wrong
Load temps are at 7p-73
I only learned that a few months ago from Bekora I think
work with g sync, not g sync compatible
R15 isn't a great overall stability test
It's a very weak load - I can run 5.2 on a 9900k r15, but it's not stable for much else
@open brook my b only g sync work with 900 series, it would work if you got 1660 ti if you wanted
not ghost i think the monitor is amd free sync is it possible to play 1080p with a gtx 980 ti strix asus with out any type of sync on since its not compatible
Of course - it'll work without any syncing
What should I used??
yeah you can play on it, just not with g sync compatible turned on
the cpu has a huge heat sink and the grpahics card has 3 fans so i dont have stutters
you just won't get adaptive sync
adaptive sync is supposed to reduce screen tearing, so if you can run the game fine it shouldn't bee too much of problem
@sullen spoke anyway to stop the fan from hitting something within my psu?
mm, depends what's hitting it i guess. If it's like a metal inside the cpu then not likely
ye but the rma will take longer than 2 weeks
i just bought a 1400 msi laptop its great has face recognotion for snap camera streaming but i can only buy the monitor for now for a desktop then ill buy the 1660 ti in a month but the monitor is on its way Optix G241VC after the 1660 ti purchase my ddesktop should be ok for 1080p 75hz
@raw sorrel 750 watt PSU is overkill.
So have an issue, i put my older gaming rig down to a plex server when I upgraded. However my previous served had onboard video, this newer one doesn't. I have a really old hd 5450 but I am not getting anything on the screen during boot, and my power supply doesn't have an extra 8 pin to run my old 970. Can I install Mint cinnamon headless? Do I need to get another cheapy video card so i can set this up?
I'd get a platinum 550-600 over a 750.
but according to the vrm testing spreadsheet, the b450 strix boards have bad vrm heatsink
consider go with a x570
I'd pick the freezer II AIO over the kraken
but the freezer II doesn't have rgb
freezer 2 ftw
can 2x 16MB bios work as 32MB?
@tepid basalt precisely
freezer 2 sucks
for 4000
no rgbbb
for 4000
@modern shadow don't worry, amd has said that themselves, it'll work
you just have to be patient
didnt they say only 32MB bios?
Im building a computer soon and I want the part asap
Eyeing the Aorus pro b450 @stoic island
your opinion?
its good
what is wrong with that
if they're planning on 4000 bios for 16mb I see no reason why not
which part they say only 32mb?
and all 32mb b450 boards do 2x16 afaik
i don't understand where do you pull that info out of
Better to just have 3 bios chips
<laughs in EVGA
Lot of modern enthusiast boards use two now, some have 3
One of the chips is usually socketed, great feature
Physical bios chip selector switch in the middle there
that sounds like a high end feature
I have a a320 motherboard with 400w psu but it won’t boot
@slate ice wold a mw650 gold from cooler master work
It’s a build I’m doing rn
I don’t want to go lower than gold
https:// pcpartpicker.com/list/ 2nGrCL Is this a good light gaming/multitasking build? (never built a pc)
That's in there just as a placeholder idk why I left it there
everything seems outdated
Didn't realise that :/
what's the budget?
$500 tops
That looks nice, thank you!
is there new graphics cards after rtx coming out in 2021 or they still guna keep the same rtx graphics cards in 2021 wondering if u build a pc or buy a pc should it be in 2020 or 2021
theres always new stuff lmao
i wouldn't call it out of date. most pc parts are still good enough for at least about 5 years in its performance bracket. you wouldn't call a 2018 car an out of date car
Im gonna build a compensator lol
@sacred obsidian well, last-generation is more the word
well yeah but like, right now the 2000 series is last generation right
Hi guys. I want to buy GPU is it necessary to buy with it brace. I want to buy gigabyte 5700 xt
you don't need a brace but it may sag depending on how big and heavy the gpu is.
I don't know if it heavy or not
but with 2000 series being last generation, I wouldn't drop 200$ on a 3600 when my current 2600 is just fine for modern stuff is what i mean. it will still be good enough for probably the next 3-4 years
and mohammed, you can buy it, install it, and it will be fine, but if it sags then you may want to buy a mount, though in most cases theyre just to keep it looking nice and even
if it sags a lot and is very noticeable you will want to then buy a brace as to much sagging can cause damage to the card
Ok, thanks
For a new build.
Yup
it can be. when i bought my 2600 it was that for 80 or the 3600 for like 250
Any AM4 B-chipset motherboards with USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C header?
R3 3300x with a 2060 or r5 3600 with a 2060?
Is a gtx 1650 super and i3-9100 + 16gb 3200mhz a good build ?
Yeah a good budget build. But switch the cpu out for something like a r3 3100
the r3 3300x and the 3600 will have very similar performance. The diff will be the 3300x is a 4 core and the 3600 is a 6 core. For gaming, either is fine as they will have similar performance levels.
those should be fine together shain
Ok thanks for the help
if you can afford it i would try to get better components but those 2 specific items should work well together.
Anybody have experience with: Asus x570 Prime Pro motherboard and a Lian li II tower? Specifically for connecting cables? Like the Power, Reset, LED, and also connecting the RGB controller with the RGB connection cables?
It’s a build for my cousin
Well .... i been anxious to build a pc .... budget is $1100 including monitor ... this is what i am thinking of buying .....Amd R5 3600 / 16 g skill ram / gtx 1660 super / Giga B450M / crucial 500gb ssd / nr600 case / 650 watt power / MSI MAG241mvc / and thermal past ... lol I hope i ain’t missing nothing
@little osprey
You try using pcpartpicker.com to make sure you have everything?
Windows 10
@safe field ive been trying to find one but the closest I can find that I know has the usb 3.2 gen 2 is the asus prime x470 pro mobo. I got it pretty cheap at microcenter but idk if they still have the stock or if you even have one near you
lemme check
@next glade your motherboard manual should have a diagram that show where all the front IO cables go
@little osprey
You try using pcpartpicker.com to make sure you have everything?
@next glade I will check now ... i was doing it on microcenter
Hey guys so I'm building a pc and I don't know if I should go all out and buy a brand new 2000 series or buy a cheap used 2000 series and wait for the 3000 series to upgrade then, what's your guys opinion? I'm using the Ryzen 7 3700x in this build.
if you don't have access to the manual the mobo should have the names of each item where they go. The pins should be on the bottom right of the mobo
i mean i snagged my prime x470 for 60 but i got it while it was heavily on sale and open boxed 😛
usb 3.1 type c is what yall looking for?
yeah but he wants it on a b450 board
I see some
I've checked basically all of the good ones at this point and I'm convinced there aren't any
You do?
@midnight basin im confused by what you mean, you currently have a 3700x but are trying to get a 2000 series?
I don't want to use anything like this, mind you: https://www.amazon.com/LINKUP-Internal-Motherboard-Converter-Adapter/dp/B07WG8ZJ41/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=type+c+to+type+a+header&qid=1589945199&sr=8-3
Or, well, I could but
I see 15 boards with usb-c on b450
2000 series GPU my bad
Where?
also how tf have I not noticed before that my own damn board has usb c lmao
oh yeah go with 2000 series imo. we don't actually know when the 3000 series is going to drop or what the prices are going to be. if you need a gpu now, just grab one now
tbf mr1111 i didnt even know if was a thing til we spent hours trying to research what that port was for on my cousins pc lol
lol
you found some b450's with em?
wait so...which boards exactly
15
I don't need all of the ---- what
care to share?
Alright thanks ill def get one @sacred obsidian
Asrock Fatality B450 gaming-itx/ac
MSI b450 gaming pro carbon ac
Gigabyte B450 Aorus pro wifi
MSI B450 tomahawk/max
Asrock B450/m steel legend
20pin?
yea
That's 20 pins?
I can find it
yeah im googling those boards and they do not have them lol
its technically 20-1
lmao thats a nope
no b450 boards on this sheet has it
wait, whats the issue?
yea some x470 got them
why get x470 tho
need me to list them off?
just get x570
they're all looking expensive
i got x470 cause i got it for 60 lol
theres only 2 boards on here that isn't listed as "flagship" or "high end"
i think that specific board is aroudn 110 now tho, but i could be wrong
Gigabyte x470 aorus gaming 5 wifi
I'd be lucky if I could find it for $150
and Gigabyte x470 aorus ultra gaming
You know what, it's fine
I was mostly asking to satisfy my curiosity
and sorta plan a build down the line
few months or so
yeah, best to wait
and also get an expectation for B-chipset boards in general having that header
prices are stupid rn
b550 will be out by then
might be a board or two with one
its just the internal header for 3.1 gen 2
so if your case has 3.1 gen2
it will use that cable
yea but 3.0
if its for later down the line, look at the b550s
oh wait sassy already said that
but its worth a look
it just depends on what you need, like that adapter pictured will work fine
its usually used for type C ports on the pc case from what i've seen mr1111
but why
porque no
its to replace the 3.0 header
but cases still come with 3.0 headers
so motherboards will too
and vice versa
When do you think prices will go down on parts? the MB i've been eyeballing.. 179... to 259... and so on... O.O
but some cases have 3.1 gen 2 ports
I can't predict the future
so they include a cable
anyways sassy seen the new season reveal yet?
tbh, the only good reason to use usb 3.0 or more is for flash drives
im pretty sure cases having usb c ports is relatively new, so i would assume that now that more cases are coming out with em, that most future boards will start including them unless they are a super low budget board
rear io
so, usb is dying
you forgot the other good reason
plugging everything in for the sake of completeness

lmao
everything else will be thunderbolt soon, and usb 2.0 will reign supreme for peripherals
thunderspy :D
that is a good reason
hope we dont get another
Okay so
i would be furious if my case had a type c port that was unusable
that affects newer generations
I have this build planned for a cousin in the NZXT H510
i also hate things that look like they should be functional but arent and are only for looks. it annoys the hek outa me
I havn't noticed that my mobo has a type c connector
but it gives me pause to send a gaming PC overseas and the front I/O is only half functional
@viral ore your ears will be very annoyed
lol
which is why I really wanted a motherboard with a functional type-C header
I dont care about front IO anyways :p
i might just forget about it long enough to the point where theres a big seg update, and im like, "wtf is this"
so x470, x570, or wait and see if b550s will have em
will there be x670?
also house got a rework
Has anyone here had their X570 chipset fan die on them
who knows
i heard
i didnt heard
im excited, and sad
what are you guys on about
they got rid of a bunch of spawnpeaks
seg
and I was finding spawnpeaks earlier xDDD
Hello all
So i have some news to share
F
ack 😦
Yeah...
return or rma?
oof
I was devastated
Im doing RMA through Newegg. Hope it wont take long.
But atleast its just that cause it powered on fine..
No issues it just wouldnt go to Bios but i know it has to be cause of the CPU
Ram read on a friends PC when he changed it out on his and put it in.
But regardless i just need now the CPU and ill be gold.
when you say cpu was bent, what do you mean?
The pins
like all of the pins were bent?
Not all
But when we tried to close it and close the latch it didnt hold the CPU in and it should have cause i know it didnt force it down. Just lightly let it fall into the slot.
Then when i went to left up my case it just fell right out.
After i made sure it was closed.
did you close the load lever?
so how did you power on the system
Well again look ill show i try to turn it on...
ok, so it did not power on fine
we dont consider it succesfully turned on til you have posted
Well when i tried to turn it on... i had ram in and look at this..
cause there could still be a million issues between a pc turning on and actually getting to post.
if it didnt post, you still have no idea what parts are good or bad
the motherboard or psu could even be faulty
Thats what i got
with no cpu installed?
No CPU is in...
the point is youll need to try to get a cpu replacement or fixed and then try again
ok, then of course you will get an error
But when i powered it on and had HDMI monitor going nothing came up on screen
we know that
also i feel I should warn you, keep in mind they may deny your RMA because bent pins are usually considered user error. You can still try but it may happen that way. if that does happen, there are ways to fix a cpu but it can be sketchy and risky
oof, didnt even think about that
most places will not accept a cpu or mobo return if it has bent pins
i've been succesful in it twice but that was through in person stores
i've never attempted it through an online retailer
have you already sent it off?
alright well good luck. hope it works out for you. if not, you can look up on youtube how to fix bent pins. you can do it with like a credit card and whatnot but you gotta be super careful cause the pins are extremely fragile. i would not attempt it until/unless they deny your RMA
i dont think there are pinout charts for the ryzen series right now sassy
check and see which pins are bent, so you can practice bending those back in place first
But otherwise im not worrying about it
The worst part is done of the build
Now its just a simple take off the cooler put on the new cpu and new cooler and we SHOULD be gravy
Hopefully
good luck!
Is there anything wrong with putting a single stick of ram in a build or is it better to have 2. (Hope this is not a dumb question)
2, dual channel
you can put one stick in but it will work better and more efficiently if you use 2.
Gigabyte B450M DS3H (AMD Ryzen AM4/M.2/HMDI/DVI/USB 3.1/DDR4/Micro ATX/Motherboard) is this MOBO ok?
so i have two monitors connected but they mirror each other and i dont see the option to fix it
that's the issue. there is no 1 and 2
Detect monitors
it doesnt detect anything
ive tried unplugging and restarting then plugging it back in but same thing happens
monitor just turns on mirrors with no other options
@latent ridge in the display settings, there's a button to detect monitors iirc
@stoic island it says didn't detect another display
Are both monitors plugged into your GPU?
yes
not two of the same monitors
both monitors are connected to the graphics card
the new one is by display port and the other is by HDMI
both same resolution setting and will come on
however I noticed the second one comes on faster and if I connect it first the other one won't come on but not vice versa
You could make your own and for around the same cost it can be much better
^
@little osprey im not an expert but dont do that very bad idea buying a used Pc
@latent ridge check if plugging one to the motherboard works (if you have integrated graphics) also try downloading latest gpu driver, if it’s nvidia download GeForce Experience and get the latest one.
Ohh wait you said they mirror each other? So they both work? Click the windows button on you keyboard and the letter P and click extend
I need to find a good 32gb kit of ddr4 ram (16gb x2) any recommendations?
if you don't care about rgb this is fine https://www.newegg.com/g-skill-32gb-288-pin-ddr4-sdram/p/N82E16820232907?
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KPBQn7 @cloud plank 's build
im not very good with builds but you can get this ssd for cheaper and same space https://www.newegg.com/team-group-mp34-512gb/p/N82E16820331308
i’d rather pay the extra like $20 or so bucks for something that is “name” brand and is slightly faster
I disagree
Get the mp34
It's not about the brand, it's about what's on the pcb
And the components on the mp34 are of the same quality
No need to overpay for samsung
@cloud plank
@stoic island can I get a list for 800$?
i would try, but i’m not the greatest and i can’t send links yet
Thanks
You're welcome
1000$ Nvidia, higher quality on other parts, not fully focused on GPU
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/K3LVXv
Oh
I'd change that ram out
I've had trouble with that set of ram
The motherboard is out of stock.
Asus tuf b450 pro is a good motherboard.
Yeah I was thinking of that but someone told me I should go with the asrock steel legend
So what should I go with
I have no idea why it has a good reputation
I was suggested it when I first started
I’m just going to do it switch it to the Asus tuf gaming pro
lmao pro has doubled the max supported ram
steel legend has a relatively bad sound card
pro has a good sound card
I want this motherboard but I’m on a budget lol
Gigabyte B450 AORUS PRO WIFI (rev. 1.0) ATX AM4 Motherboard
eh its out of stock now
oh yea just a suggestion, disable best buy in your pcpp preferences
pcpp doesn't work well with best buy's stock
it'll show stuff as in stock even though they're not
Oh yeah I see it now
alright
Damm last time I checked on Newegg the msi b450 gaming pro carbon was just 150$
now it’s 273$
@near garden pro carbon max is 160$
On what ?
B&H
So what’s sad about my build is that I built a 250$ build and gives around 5-20 FPS less than my 700$ pc wth
Dang I need a new gpu
That is so sad
That’s probably what my most recent build will be like
My build has 1600 AF + RX 570 and that one has i7-860 + RX 570
I am looking to put a rx570 I my dads build
Looks like a good price to performance card.
It still definitely is
But if you could get a little more money... GTX 1650 super is very very good for the price too
Does anyone know how to make windows 10 installer on a usb on a Mac
I can’t figure it out
you should be able to using bootcamp
idk if it changed with updates but in bootcamp there was an option to create a windows 10 install disk, if you don't know already bootcamp assistant is a app built in all macs
only check the box to make install disk, don't partition disk and install windows on the mac if you don't want to
It’s in a tight budget @fast dust. We were going to use a 1050 we already have to save money but the 570 is a bit better performance
And he won’t be doing very heavy gaming
The 570 is pretty marginally better
Omfg, i have been here for over a year and never seen this chat lol
This is where I should have been
But imma gonna wait for aorus pro b450 to be back in stock
Good idea, don't settle for Rona lol
I am looking to get a wifi board even though I don't need it, just because it may come in handy
Yeah, I could use help finding a Mobo as well
budget?
Doesn't really matter, but preferably below $250
k
I wanna get RGB as well and wifi and Bluetooth, but that may be overkill for the price
Yeah, might as well
3950x
ohhh
Yeah
Neither do I haha, that's why I am lost 😬
I had a prebuilt but I relaxed the mobo and went from intel to amd, ever since that I’ve had problems with windows, would reinstalling the os and all drivers solve this?
I had a prebuilt but I relaxed the mobo and went from intel to amd, ever since that I’ve had problems with windows, would reinstalling the os and all drivers solve this?
@gloomy violet yeah, I would recommend that if you're using the same drives and same installation of windows. It's usually advised to reinstall Windows when pairing a drive with a new systembuild
Oh yeah, for sure haha. i am doing 64GB DDR4 3600 CL16 and a 3950x, it would be stupid for me to not have money for the board haha
oh no, I am gonna be building in like 4+ months I am guessing haha
Just wanna have a rough goal for funds
should i wait for b550
hey guys, can you help me build my PCPP list?
I'll make it more AMD >:D
i have a asus b450 prime plus and ryzen 5 3600 do i need a bios update so will i need a different cpu
mr1 can find a way to make it even more amd
i have a asus b450 prime plus and ryzen 5 3600 do i need a bios update so will i need a different cpu
@modest kraken only if you bought the b450 before 3rd gen bios came out
if you bought it recently then most likely it should work out of the box
the new boards got new bios
yes
I built one list, but I wanna see what somebody else would make me
doesn't matter, but try not to go overkill haha
Goal is a 3950x and an RTX 2060KO
doesn't matter?
and 64 GB RAM
doesn't matter?
@stoic island It does, but I have no hard limits right now
if it doesnt matter this is default xD
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Mr1111/saved/sqpnLk
eh alright
Remember, I am a kid, I need to be able to afford it lol
i love how that build has a wopping 20$ in savings
lmao, yeah haha
I am a professional photographer. I have made $520 in the last 6 days
okay
and I already have another $200
and I am doing senior portraits and stuff for a steal of a price haha
so you're currently at 720 total?
Yeah, but I am gonna save for months
okay do you have a monitor and peripherals already?
Right now is just seeing what a 3950x, 2060KO, and 64 GB RAm would look like in cost
Yes, I have 3 monitors that suck a good keyboard, and good mouse
how do they suck
On eis a 2013 32 in samsung smart TV with reaction time so bad that if you move the mouse, things that are standing still blur. The one on my right is an old 24" tube LCD, and the left is a 19 inch 900p 2008 HP display lol
They are trash. I am gonna focus on monitors lator
After all, This is not a gaming rig
okay so you want a 3950x and a 2060KO
and i assume youll want it for both doing image editing and gaming?
I am gonna have 2060KO X2 for insane blender rendering
Its a render rig. I am working on a large project with some people
okay
I need that rtx titan beating render performance haha
which 2X 2060KO's can easily do
OK, that is actually not bad at all!
I have some edits I will do
just for my use case
actually thats better than what I was doing lol
I would probably go for one of those older style cases with the big HDD rack tho so you can have a ton of HDD storage as well. Thats just me tho 🤷♂️
This is my proposition
Oh, my current PC is gonna be a net sever
and I dropped the GPU to save cost for now
That was the cooler I wanted, I wanted more M.2, and that was about it
I do dig that the 3950x runs way cooler than the 3900x haha
I could get away with a 212 Evo haha. because the 212 evo beats the included 3900x cooler, and the 3950x runs 10C cooler on average
that would be minimum though haha
I don't wanna do that
keep in mind that prices and specs you're going to want will likely change by the time you get to building if its going to be a few months though
theres a lot that will probably come out soon
keep in mind that prices and specs you're going to want will likely change by the time you get to building if its going to be a few months though
@sacred obsidian Oh yeah, chances are I will build when ryzen 4000 and RTX 3000 come out. I just wanted a rough estimate
My 1080 is enough for now
I would say that build wouldbe likkeeee.... $1100-$1200 ish
fair nuff
which is a loooot less than I expected
Thats accounting for rona tax dropping. I could possibly save even more from micro, but I am not gonna bank on that
That is one hell of a mean system haha
Would you consider that a top 1% CPU?
if you can get to micro def go there. they have cheaper prices and when they dont you can price match the other big retailers
I wanna build this PC to last for yearsss
if you can get to micro def go there. they have cheaper prices and when they dont you can price match the other big retailers
@sacred obsidian Yeah, they saved me 100's off my current PC. I live kinda close to one
top 1% of new builds, you gotta go 3950x or TR
Yeah, fair
Its just to last me for a longggg time before I have to save for life and stuff
I am gonna use the PC to make me money and that money will be saved for when I am an adult
It will be a massive help for our project
For you guys
I do a lot of fluid sims and the such
So I need that amazing CPU for baking and an RTX 2060KO for rendering like lightning haha
Here you can see the 2080 performance. The 2060 KO performs like the 2080
so add 2 and boom, faster than titan RTX
blender has 97% GPU pairing efficiency
Alright thanks scyth
of course, so whats up?
So I was just using the websites build my own computer option and I wasnt sure if using that would ensure all the parts I order works together
I may be a bit busy, i am swapping render engines in blender haha
ah, ok, lets see it
Oh i see, and no worries your fine
Is that a website?
yes it is
Alright, thanks. Ill go check it out
Sounds good, post your build here and we can edit it as we see fit
Alright sounds good thanks btw
of course
what is the best computer I can get for 300 dollars or so
So here is about what I am thinking of getting
Ah, i am missing the perms to add pictures.
Alright so i am thinking of using:
you can send the link to your build
@swift fractal Is that gpu vertically mounted?
Here is Ohios build
First thing. I would say no 9900k
The rest looks good, just not the 9900k
well, why do you want a 9900k @chrome gale
Well preferably i would like this computer to last a bit of time
what do you plan to do on it?
Mostly CAD, matlab, a few other work related things on it
oh, then you need good multi core?
Sure, what do you recomend?
if that is the case you wanna go with a 3900x, its way stronger and less expensive
here, i will show some comparisons
Overall i would like it to be fast with good proformance. Thats all.
You can see here @chrome gale
The 3900x is wayyyy stronger based off of the final score, almost 2x a sstrong
The 9900k has 8 cores, the 3900x has 12
and its less expensive
Oh alright
Thats Why I wanted to know what tou wanted haha
so, whats your price range?
because there are even stronger CPU's that get to like god teir haha
It seems i cant add it
Alright ill take a look.
Is there a fix to where my settings on AMD tuning software keeps resetting every time I turn off my pc?? I have an rx5700xt
iiii... do not know of a way, i am sorry
Alright just changed the intel processor to a AMD 3900X 3.8GHz 12 core
And mother board to a MSI MPG x570
Ok, that sounds like it should be fine
Alright, thanks scyth
send to me in DM
I really appriciate it
Dang... it’s really frustrating constantly loading the profile every time I turn off my pc
I really appriciate it
@chrome gale No problem
make sure to get feedback from more people ^^
New to pc building and I was wondering what I could get for $800
Think Naed made a $800 list earlier
Nvm, it was Mr1111
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Q6JCcq
Is it possible to switch the gpu for an rtx
Yeah
Should I get a ryzen 5 3600 or ryzen 7 2700x?
You could go for a 2060, but much more expensive than the 1660
Thats ok as long as I dont go over 1000
@buoyant aurora hey what x570 mother board do you recomend?
Lemmie see what I can do
@buoyant aurora hey what x570 mother board do you recomend?
@chrome gale I do not know enough about them right now... Sorryyy
Should I get a ryzen 5 3600 or ryzen 7 2700x?
@thorn copper https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HCP6gJ
I cut the secondary hhd to lower the price
Hello, Should I get a ryzen 5 3600 or ryzen 7 2700x?
Not really educated on the 1st and 2nd gen amd lineup, I'd ask a teckie
for what tho? prob 3600 for gaming
Is it possible to put an 8gb instead of a 6
Very. Just buy the 2060S for $100 more
Deserted I made a build for you in #graphics-cards
Lol
This is a modified one I stole from mr1111
Makes sense with the SSD choice
Yeah, I mean it's pretty much what I'd make
Except I'd do some bargin hunting on ebay
👍
So I should look on ebay for better prices
Yeah, I'd go used on anything you can to save money, but be aware there some price jacking going on with corona
For the gpu, brand doesn't matter super much, just go with the cheapest you can find
I mean I like ROG and EVGA, but no point spending a ton extra for a different brand
Ram I would stick to reputable companies... G-Skill, Corsair, HyperX, etc... Make sure you get non-buffered ram
PSU, be guided by https://linustechtips.com/main/topic/1116640-psu-tier-list-40/
Or if you have the dough you can go all new, but I just like looking for bargins 🙂
well um
I made this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2BBmp8
kept more storage just bc
everything else is basically the same
only noticeable difference between the board in the list you sent and this list is this one makes the red warning go away :P @potent prairie
and the only other real difference is I went for 256gb+2tb, for more mass storage uses
Well mine had a larger m34 :P
Lol
but you can go 512gb and easily buy a 50$ drive down the line
so both works
I was going to get a 512gb and a 2tb
but I spent it on everything else in the list
i love watching new b450 boards being in builds every day cause the market is wack
IKR
And budget
I've been putting tuf pro in higher budget builds
a few days ago it was aorus pro wifi
a few days before that was b450m tuf pro
it goes all over
like it went from the tuf pro to the aorus to that with strix and carbon pro sometimes
well carbon pro is for wifi
wifi boards are just like gone
and carbon pro is a great board
yuh
I got one
its just pricey
Me too (high five)
(high fives back)
B450 pro carbon tho
I just noticed from earlier today (and 12am today) that my board has USB-C and ARGB ports :O
It's got everything
okay dont need to flex here
no but like
its surprising how little b450 boards have argb
ppl here all got x570
I just have higher end b450
And I'm here on team blue
lower end b450 gang
With a z390
lemme just count how many b450 boards got argb
B/c I make bad decisions before actually doing research 🙂
18
eh
it's surprising like B450 pro 4
a lower end board
got it
Aorus pro wifi and pro carbon got it
but Tuf pro doesn't have it
:(
cheapest z490 itx board is 200 rip
yeah mine sucks who thought gold was a cool color
3
fantastic
https:// pcpartpicker.com/list/rBjjQq Any problems with this build list?
low budget
Anyone know a cheap(er) method for bringing down my gpu temps(rx 580) and i have a gamemax expedition case (no front fan mounts)
downclock/undervolt and put a more aggressive fan curve
My bad. Anyways @magic steeple, with that limit I think you said 1500$, you should really just research for a little bit and look at the prices of parts. Don’t pay too much attention to the case, like how it looks. But definitely just try and pick what’s best(that you could afford)
Hey all
ye
@spare swallow what cpu cooler u got?
You around? @stoic island
ye
Wanna help me with a ram timings question?
?
I was trying to set my ram to 16 18 18 38 instead of the stock 18 22 22 42 but in my bios there's 5 different latency inputs
Where should I ask for help on troubleshooting?
Do I just put 18 in for my third 4th option aswell? @stoic island
Here is fine@dense reef
Yes, but it'd be best to show the leftmost column in the screenshot.
Ya, 22 is fine
Does this look fine to you?@celest horizon
Ya
Ok thx ill give it a shot
What are your specs?
R5 3600, 32gb trident z neo (cl18) and 1060
trcdrd/trcdwr are locked together in some configs - and will only show as one setting.
(on most boards)
Did you increase the dram voltage? What's your soc voltage? Do you know what IC is in those sticks?
Stuck in a boot loop rn
ic meaning?
And no I didn't increase voltage, its at 1.35 I believe
samsung b-die, hynix cjr, micron rev.e etc
TL;DR - going from cl18 to cl16 and lowering timings as well isn't a 100% guarantee
if it was, they would've sold those sticks at a higher bin
I assumed it wasn't, just wanted to give it a shot
I'd read through this https://github.com/integralfx/MemTestHelper/blob/master/DDR4 OC Guide.md
Will do
Might be as simple as setting voltage to 1.4, 1.45 or manually setting a soc voltage of 1.1v or something.
Different IC's have different characteristics, that guide will explain better than I can.
Ok thx for the info
I'm going to set it back to stock and read that article lol
I now realize that when I set timints manually I didnt disable d.o.c.p.
Should I have done that?
So I have the blue screen of death and I was wondering if I could get some help. @celest horizon when your done, I can wait
Shouldn't really matter - any manually set values should override XMP/DOCP's auto values
Post the blue screen
you don't have the error code?
I have the stop code
Probably just some broken driver that loads on startup. https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/solved-kmode-exception-not-handle-bsod/2deb7630-3e96-4366-9c8d-c071e44bf5aa
@celest horizon its says it is pretty much only usefully if I can get into my pc, it just takes me to recovery mode
Will it boot in safe mode?
is 1.35V the common safe gate when oc ram?
Isn't there a humongous RAM OC guide on /r/overclocking
I don't read manuals
LOL
r/overclocking: All things overclocking go here. Learn to overclock, ask experienced users your questions, boast your rock-stable, sky-high OC and …
Well here you go anyway
I'm reading the guide forks sent
Depends on the type of ram. 1.5 volts is pretty safe on b-die, less so on other sticks.
@celest horizon Nothing else I can do other then doing an image reset?
Could create a bootable windows repair usb on another computer and use that to fix it.
How do I do that?
What will the bootable repair pretty much do?
just reinstall your windows
Well, I had to go from this...
To this
Because direction matters in the CPU block :/
U guys are lucky 😔
Still getting bad temps under load tho
Thermal past applied correctly?
Pre-applied, so yeah
is the ryzen 5 3600 able to game and stream at the same time with 0 dropped frames on a 1660 gtx ti gpu? nvenc version 2 encoding 1080p 60 fps 6000 bit rate
there will always be a least a little frame drop, but with nvenc encoder it is very little
Found this on my psu what is this for?
my pc keeps blue screening
i just started taking the codes down
right now was FAULTY_HARDWARE_CORRUPTED_PAGE
a few days ago it was PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA
Hey, I've just got a new case and I'm transferring my internals over to it but I'm going to apply fresh thermal paste before doing so. I don't have IPA or rubbing alcohol. What's the alternative I can use to clean it off?
papertowel
Yeah that'll smear it about nicely but I'd like to actually clean it properly too
i use cloths like you would to clean your glass, i just dont re use them haha
you can clean it fine, it'll just take a little more detail with a reg dry papertowel
@nova summit that would typically be a connector for a floppy drive
@next tangle I would suggest trying to following
-
On your keyboard, press the Windows logo key and R at the same time, then type mdsched.exe
-
Click Restart now and check for problems (recommended). Your PC will restart immediately
-
Open command prompt (Win + R) and type CMD
-
Type sfc /scannow && dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth and press the Enter key
-
run windows update (and update any other drivers like GPU drivers)
-
Test to see if issue is resolved
@pastel briar just a note for helping those in need for that sfc command, tell them to do this: sfc /scannow && dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth instead
so that you also run the dism one too
fixed 😄 , never needed to run the others but I can see the use in them
@cursive wharf I guess with windows 10 they changed a bit?
I dont know all too much about it. sfc fixes some files and dism fixes others. Dont remember the exact specifics of what it is
ah I see, fair enough
Does anyone know if the x53 from nzxt can cool a 3700x
If you're going to run both, run dism first
It might take multiple sfc scannow runs
Last two parts YEET
Was curious to know where people get nice cable extensions for their PCs, I need a new CPU power cable or extension because the one that comes from my PSU isn't long enough for me to route on the backside of my case
does anybody know if I can get a PCIe x1 card that has a USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-C header on it
not a port, a header
AORUS GANG
RISE UP
@upper fable cablemod
Thanks I will take a look
hey i had a prebuilt but switched the mobo and went from intel to amd and ive had problems with windows ever since, would reinstalling windows and dirvers for the new mobo fix it? Windows would go into automatic repair when updated
Were they proprietary parts in that prebuilt?
no theey cam from the oem
It's possible that a reinstall on windows would help, but first make sure that the RAM and nothing in there is actually proprietary
My CPU fans seem to make a clipping sound on boot up but there is 100% nothing catching the fans in regards to cables and the obvious stuff. I know for sure it's the CPU fans. Any ideas how to fix? They have been cleaned out of dust with compressed air as well.
These fans are top mounted above a water cooling radiator
The video is of the noise it's making
Is it just on boot up?
Wowee that's obnoxious
think the fan is clipping something
thats what it sounds like
look for cables in the way
Well I've just swapped all my parts over to a new case. When it was in the old case it didn't "often" do it on boot up but usually under heavy load. Now it does it in the new case every time I boot up
@stoic island if you read the message I wrote you'll see that I said I know it's 100% not clipping any cables. It will make that noise for a few seconds on boot up and then stop when it gets to the windows login page
unplug the fan you think is making the noise and see if theres any noise
make sure its one fan
and just look at it for any irregularities
Just to be clear, this is a CPU fan I'm having the issue with so this isn't going to cause any problems is it towards the CPU. I'm guessing only if it's unplugged for a vast amount of time
I'm not asking you to run the CPU without the fan for a long time, as long as you have a heatsink on it, it should be able to dissipate the heat of being idle temporarily
If there's nothing clipping it it's probably a bunk fan
I unplugged the one I thought it to be and turned it on. There was no longer a noise being made
So I'm guessing the fan is screwed
I've got the case fan in the old case I just took everything from. Would it be fine if I just swapped it out for that one?
Oh yeah that's totally fine
A fan is a fan, as long as the connector is good you'll all set
Actually CPU fans and case fans are a little different from one another
A case fan will work as a CPU viler, just not as well
Well i would like to replace them both anyway so is there any recomendations you can give me for replacement CPU fans to go on the radiator? the current ones are cooler master branded but dont know the specific model of the water cooler without digging the box out not that it makes a vast difference i guess
The current ones are 120mm

Trying to update this bios is gonna be the death of me
What's the issue @vivid flint
Ill go to use the instant flash tool and itll detect the flash drive, show the update, not allow me to accept and then change to a "no image file detected" error
When you say that you cannot accept, is the option greyed out?
theres no option at all its just a window showing the update file
I can dm you a video if itd help you better understand what I mean
My room gets up to high temperatures and my gpu and cpu temps are high
Can i take off the side panel?
Will it give me better temps?
tempered glass
depending on how your room does with dust, and how you have your pc placed near any sort of carpet or other things youd most likely be fine taking the side panel off
tempered glass side panels look cool but generally aren't good for temps
yeah i have my pc on the desk and off the carpet
