go into your bios and look for a selection that says something like "Auto detect GPU" and make sure its not set to onboard only
ok i will tell you if it worked
alright
I've nearly talked myself into going ahead and buying those fans I like. Even if I might not buy the rest of my parts right now
Are they rgb?
hello I am back on the graphics card but I am with no drivers installed
GeForce experience
Download it
it will not work
Oh that sucks gl
that was my problem
Hey Malek, if you have a live version of lunux
Linux*
You can get the drivers installed safely by Linux for your pc
Again, use "live" version
Not the installed version
You can get a live version for free, and use it on a thumb drive, SD card, external hd
Even a CD or a cellphone
I think the cellphone has to be rooted or jailbreak first.
i have a 275r, exact same case but the front panel is solid plastic
i love mine, it looks great
on the airflow model the airflow will be great
i like my 275r because it has the glass side panel, vertical gpu mount, psu cover, and rubber grommets for cables
only complaint is that the back does not have much room for cable management
but lets be real here, thats not that much of an issue. once everything is said and done, you probably wont open the back up again for awhile
one sec
those pictures are my build
i have a 275r, youre looking at getting the 275r Airflow which is exactly the same basically
uhhhhhh
if i were you, id get an SSD
hard drives are... slow...
oh
i didnt see one in the list
@little osprey https://pcpartpicker.com/list/t2t7n7
changes made:
-CPU: Same thing but cheaper
-mobo: better sound chip, more M2 slots
-RAM: same thing but cheaper
-SSD: Has a better cache setup
-GPU: Is better
-case: saved money with cheaper case
-PSU: TT Smart series is literally a fire hazard. Never get it.
Can I put a ryzen 7 in this
Ryzen 3700 8core
Making sure
Because originally I was going to put a ryzen 5 in it
Yes. I think iambox has one
you can
@cursive wharf What do you mean when you say has a better cache setup?
@lime forge what are the specs 👀
SSDs have a cache, mainly useful for writing to the SSD
Cheap SSDs like the A400 have no DRAM cache
what would be a preferable one
Which lowers lifespan, general perf, and majorly kills write perf when full
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/X7wdvW @silk estuary
gracias~
Depends on location you live and SATA vs NVMe
Can that setup take an ssd zack?
Can a GIGAYBYTE AORUS Radeon RX 5700XT fit in the NZXT H1?
It should as far as I know, but you certainly check with folks more seasoned than me.
Could anyone assist me in building a budget PC?
Go ahead
@frosty hinge sure what's ur budget
Like $700-$730 for PC + Monitor
I’m not expecting top of line bc that’s ridiculous with that price range but I just want to play games at good frames and be able to stream since I am a streamer
And the ability to upgrade layer on would be very nice
Gochq
@frosty hinge how does this look
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zyNpWb
That’s insane pricing. Thank you @nah
@stoic island he wanted it to be more upgradeable plus I couldn't find the 1600af xd
Oof
It's a but above
Bit
@frosty hinge are u able to go up to like 850
Its a huge upgrade from the other one
@vagrant garnet I don't think 500gb of storage is good enough for a streamer
What
Why would you say that?
If you do YouTube and make videos I'd agree with you, but with streaming it directly goes on the internet, not on ur storage device unless u enable that
@little osprey
Well in most cases anyways, 500gb usually isn't enough
@little osprey No 1600af? Where is the link to that mobo with that deal? That memory is overpriced for 3000 CL16. SN550 lacks DRAM cache. CXM has coil whine issues
Its used? Didn't even notice lol
Lots of fun details are kinda hidden away
@vagrant garnet now for your roast
-best to provide link to 1600af
-mobo is sucky for price
-can get RAM a bit cheaper
-SSD is in the NVMe prices
-GPU is overpriced by a lot
-case is meh
I see you roast everyone
Roast lol
He had that copied and was ready to paste lol
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core, 12-Thread Unlocked 65W Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler (YD1600BBAFBOX) https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07XTQZJ28/ref=cm_sw_r_other_apa_i_ZxRJEbTKFKGK5
Here's your link
I shall provide a nice link
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/8HqBD3/amd-ryzen-5-1600-12nm-32-ghz-6-core-processor-yd1600bbafbox
add to your favourites
it helps
Ur link poo poo
the amazon link that is at the top is literally $85
Cheaper link worse ig
No
For some reason it's not showing the amazon for me
Same I only see newegg
says 85 USD for me
I'm on mobile 🤷
No where because it never works
The price
It's got 5 year warranty, has dram, nice controller, and has good speed
What would u change it to? L5 lite 3d?
has a good controller, DRAM cache, NVMe, for like $1 less
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XML48d/silicon-power-a80-512-gb-m2-2280-solid-state-drive-sp512gbp34a80m28
How's the warranty on silicon power ssds?
not many SSDs die slightly later on unless from a random brand
what about the ram, where are u finding decent ram for cheaper
about $5 less for the same, or the same price for a better binned die (same speeds tho)
Yeah, where, what one
Eek red ram
Also it's not the best to buy separate kits of RAM and pair em together
oh no, small red accents on the side of RAM that's real hard to see
I'd complain if it was red heatsink, but it isnt, so meh
where they the exact same model (note: not talking about Corsair LPX vs Corsair LPX, im talking about exactly down to the model #)?
Yes, same model
I'd switch mobo over to Asus TUF Pro cuz 2 PCIe M2 slots and better sound chip
How is this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HzM3jp
also NVMe priced SATA SSD
Have you seen the size of the heatsink
Anyway its for streaming, video editing, and gaming
No 480p
K
Yes 1440
You don’t need a blazing fast ssd like that
Are u streaming off CPU or gpu
-What's the need for such a high priced mobo?
-That's like b-die priced RAM but not b-die
-2tb NVMe SSD would suite more people then 1TB of faster seq r/w
-GPU kinda overpriced. I mean 2080S as a whole is overpriced. About 7% - 9% faster then 2070S for $200 more
-Poor 750w PSU choice. If one were needing a 750w PSU, the PC would have an HEDT CPU or dual GPU. PSU price should be proportional to PC price. Get the better voltage ripple/regulation, transient response, multi rail, etc
-can get same amount of RGB fans for half the price
Yep
actually pretty sure you can get close to 3950x + 2080Ti with that money can you not?
if not focusing on looks at least
You could but honestly would be a waste
Just cut down the cost in the PC a bit
I currently wouldn't buy the 3950x cuz of stuff possibly coming out in like 6 months or so
yeah, but with the same amount of money you can still get this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/mrVB7T
Missing mostly the niche features that can be useful for some. Specific stuff on the mobo or gen4 SSD
How's the ram clearance with that cooler?
I've never seen the scythe Mugen in action
Thoses seem like some pretty tall dimms at the average distance away from the CPU
Holy tall ram
yeah basically
looks like this kit is on par with the corsair pro vengeance rgb
how can I fix that?
something similar happened to me but i wasn't getting any sound at all, i ended up reinstalling windows. when i looked it up i saw people would delete the driver and scan for hardware changes or find the driver online. just be careful and make sure its the official site
does anyone know a good and cheap(ish) case with a drive bay? please @ me if so
dont really care about rgb just functionality
well
any el cheapo case out there has a drive bay
more expensive case tends to remove them because it impedes air flow
was is working previously.
Yes
what are you trying to plug in?
what do you mean?
have you done any maintenance to it lately? could be loose wire
No but I can check
Ok
that one should be for the top usb
How can I remove it out
And plug it back in
I’m scare if I do it wrong then it’s going to break
send a picture of your mobo
next thing would be to check that same wire, but on the usb ports
Ok
what mobo is that?
only thing I can think of is just wiggling the other end, that is attached to the mobo to make sure it is in all the way
if not you could just have a faulty i/o
if it was working fine, and then not.
I think I have a faulty I/o
It’s fine tho since I can switch to the montherbord usbs
And connect that to a usb hub
https://www.amazon.com/EZDIY-FAB-Moonlight-Motherboard-Computer-Multiple/dp/B07XDYKC91?ref_=ast_sto_dp
These are the fans I keep staring at. I think they're the nicest looking ones I've seen that didn't cost a fortune.
can ayone config a 2500 usd pc that has a 2080 ti and a 7 3700x or 9 3900x (any cpu is fine)
I'll do my best, dude.
@woeful agate https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LdQfRk
only issue is that strix often if not always has the
tax
Hey I got 260$ to get a graphics card and RAM what are my best options
gt 710 tbh ong tbh
200 gpu and 60 for ram
get a rx580 or a gtx 1050 ti
You can get a 1650 super at that price
and then get a kit of like ripjaw v 3600cl16
Thx for all the help
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xGstHB any way to lower the price to 300ish
would a320 mobos work with a 3200g
if bios is updated yess
that psu is iffy
Might be the one that considered potentially dangerous
https://imgur.com/a/2wtXF21 is my build And I want to get rid of the CPU cooler cause it just feels to bulky...
It blocks the last RAM slot
it doesn't if you move the fan
maybe put the fan on the other side?
Is the Asus tuf b450 pro gaming compatible with the amd ryzen 3 3200g?
yes
So I don’t have to bios updated it
as you can see
Thanks
Yeah that’s what I have been told. I was gonna buy the Asus tuf or the msi tomahawk
I'd rather take the b450 tuf pro
Ok
tomahawk does have good VRMs, thats why reddit loves it so much, but it lacks on sound chip and is also usually like 20$ more
That 2 coolers?
?
looks like 2 fans and coolers
ahhhh haven't even seen that before lol
drp4 is sexy
yeah, expensive though
d15 chromax tho
Is a ryzen 9 3900x any good?
Yes
if you need what it offers, yes [edit: offers]
b450 tomahawk
thomashaus
Max
MAX
Unify
In my d-15 I only use one fan
any suggestion for a good wifi card?
should I use usb or pcie connector?
my knowledge about this component is really close to zero
2k budget usd any suggestions
i9 9900k + 2080s
on a 2000 dollar budget you can get a 2080 super and a 3900x
thats ideal
the 2080ti is too much more for not enough gains in performance
its 300 dollars more for 4 extra cores to jump to the 3950x, and i dont think you can afford that on such a budget
Use pcpartpicker pls
u can try to pick it yourself
Hello everyone im new here and im looking to build a new pc with a ryzen 7 3800x but not ssure what motherboard to go with because im not trying to spend a ton of money on it. but i keep seeing a msi b450 max will work just fine outta box but then i also see stuff saying it wont can someone give me an idea here or help point me in the right direction?
well i just want a board that will work with it right out the box instead of having to deal with updating the bios but would the MSI tomahawk max work with it out the box?
for msi, the boards labeled "max" have the bios preupdated
its basically identical to the tomahawk
but comes with updated bios
okay. so 3800x will work with it thats awesoome i thank you so much i just could not figure it out
np
It's been 9 months with 3000 series release. 99% chance that any b450 board works because they're updated at factory
only way it wont be is if from old stock. But then you can either return it or ask AMD to send a free upgrade CPU for you to borrow
Also why 3800x and not 3700x? That's a solid price jump for minimal perf. That money can be spent else where
anywhere this can be improved? max budget is 1k USD: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ZxFHb8
Replace the tomahawk with the Asus tuf b450 gaming pro
Also if your max budget is 1000 you could go for a 2060
Could get a smaller boot drive imo
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/zJxWjp 13$ over but it’s a pretty big upgrade
If I'm not mistaken AMD drivers are still a bit on the oof side though
They fixed a lot of the problems people were having with the recent driver updates
I have a 5700xt and it fixed a lot of the problems I was having
Oh nice that's good to hear
Personally I'd shrink the SSD boot drive down to like 256 or 250GB
it's also a first time build for someone
Since that's just gonna hold your OS and your most used software
i did 500 so you can also put a few games
and allows space for updates for said games and things
ah that's fair
ye
also damn that 3600 ram
@warped moat iirc that SATA SSD is at NVMe prices
Also that case doesn't seem to great airflow
I just left the case there
As for ssd we’ll if you could help them out and recommend one that’d be great
Preferably one that gets them closer to 1k
question
this is in the spec list for the mobo i’m getting, does that mean i can’t use the 3600mhz ram i picked out?
@latent storm its the TUF B450 Pro Gaming ?
the following is from the memory QVL for that board
just like just about everything else that has to do with PC's, details matter
so, depending on cpu, ram. Yes, you can run it at 3600
the above section if from the top pdf here:
i’m using a ryzen 5 3600 and a g.skill ripjaws V 2x8gb 3600 kit
alright i matched the part numbers and decided on the uhh trident z rgb 16gb
@sacred chasm what monitor model is that? it looks to have a really nice uniform border
if that budget is okay, get the AMP
this is the unit you are looking for
stock is just jumping all over the place thou
Should I get the 650w version instead? It costs around the same, and the rx5700 xt suggests 600w of power
you can if you absolutely wants to, but the 550 is more than enough
Okay, its power draw is 225w
keep in mind, psu recommendations have to take into account the VERY big quality difference between models
the AMP is up there with some of the absolute best
Okay thx
@foggy hazel its the Dell - S2719DGF 27" LED QHD FreeSync Monitor
thank you :)
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TNbdtp
Before i get these parts, any recommendations for changes?
@silk estuary That is a huge amount of money wasted. Lots of things can be changed
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/TWQM27
Reasons for things I changed. last I checked you were just gaming so 32gb RAM is unneeded. 9700k is overpriced. CPU cooler is overpriced. Budget 2tb SSD for a high price. GPU sucks for budget. case has bad airflow. 750w PSU is undeeded and a waste of money. Get a better and lower wattage PSU instead. Windows can be gotten for cheaper. Better monitor can be gotten
@cursive wharf then what do i get instead
I gave a list for that
Oh
What is the lowest amount of ram that is needed really for gaming
I'm on Windows 10 lol
2x4GB for cheapest, 1x8 & 1x4GB for middle, and 2x8 for higher
my computer has 1x8 1x4
but make sure you take advantage of both memory channels, so one stick per channel at least
performs a little better, especially on AMD
I have 4 channels on my board
4 memory sockets?
Yeah my bad
:)
I was in the hospital for 3 years and when I got out neighbor gave me a old desktop
nice
3 gb of ram for now so it don't run that good
2×1 gb 2×512 MB of ram sticks lol
Garbage
Think they are ddr2? I need to check
I have a couple of 2GB DDR2 sticks, so there's some hope there when it comes to amount
DDR2 seems to be pretty cheap on the used market in my region at least
I only had little bit of $ so I put GeForce gt 710 gddr5 2gb and 250 GB ssd low grade but oh well I guess
I don't get much $
Cpu is 2.80 ghz
it's low spec but it's somethin 👀
Hey chat quick question for anyone that can help - Below is a screen shot of current specs ---- I believe I need a better CPU and would like to ask for recommendations if anyone could help 🙂
This thought is based on the lack of fps when streaming and playing fortnite
better suited for older games of course...you might be able to find a cheap Dell Optiplex or HP Compaq Elite computer, they're good systems, more recent than what you have, and they sell for cheap sometimes
Ryzen 5 1600AF is 85 USD
are you using integrated graphics @true comet ?
Yes
How would I check this? (sorry not to savy in this field)
look for screws on the right-hand side panel, so opposite from this picture
unscrew them, again, opposite panel from this picture
@grand spindle ^
Lol
@lyric thistleyou want to see the funny old hard drive I swapped with lol it's bad
You will be like damn that's old
Hey @lyric thistle im in a call with @grand spindle its his computer
Hes asking for a part list from the seller right now
getting a part list right now
ah nice
nicee
I forget how old the hard drives are in my old computer
it has one 60GB and one 160GB I think
I replaced it with the 250 GB ssd and a 1 tb hdd
Hows the airflow on this case?
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/hWnG3C/cooler-master-masterbox-pro-5-rgb-atx-mid-tower-case-mcy-b5p2-kwgn-01
OS- Windows 10 Pro 64Bit with License Key

@lyric thistle does this help?
seems like decent specs
is this a list you plan to buy or a list of components in a computer you already have?
or a mixture?
this is in my computer right now
im looking to comfortably stream and play while having a three monitor setup
ah
i have to take that back panel off correct?
just want to make sure they're in the right slots to take advantage of dual channel memory 👀
yeah
Might not have enough ram if you are doing all that?
^
Hey just grabbing the pictures
@silk estuary Take a look at the top and front of the case. Ventilation is barely there. The front is very closed off with no proper vents and the top has no vents. The only normally ventilated spot is the back, which just relying on the back isnt that good
what size case is it?
mid tower, Cooler Master MasterBox Pro 5 RGB
i cant send the pictures here for some reason
You're not high enough level
Because your not lvl 3 yet
Just for the record @stoic island I said that first but my wifi took 30 minutes to send it😂
damn lol
Lol
@lyric thistle can i send you the pics of his computer?
going forward any reccomendations on upgrades?
most impactful upgrade sfor the spend ^
I would personally go for a Ryzen 5 1600AF, 6 cores, hyper threaded, and an additional 2x4 of the same RAM kit (or swap the current 2x4 with a 2x8 kit and get 16GB that way)
the RX 580 might not be the fastest GPU, but for 1080p high settings you should still get good framerates
I'm not entirely sure if a framerate issue would be caused by the Ryzen 3 and 2x4 kit though, that's just the upgrade path I would take from there personally
AMD Ryzen 5 1600 6-Core, 12-Thread Unlocked 65W Desktop Processor with Wraith Stealth Cooler (YD1600BBAFBOX)
yes
it's a compelling CPU and I want it but I don't need a new one 👀
haha
it's such a good price
Hey guys. Need help. I have a 500gb nvme installed. Does it matter what sata port i use for an ssd and hdd? Thanks
Depends but you should be fine if you use the 1st and 2nd sata ports. Usually if a port is disabled from a m.2 drive its one of the last ones
Nice welcome to the master race 😉
I already got a prebuilt almost 2yrs now. Just wanna start building my own
Ok nice 👌
I want a pc around 1100
Has anyone done a build in the Fractal design meshify c if so what was it like
Thanks
@little osprey cool
Do you have any specifications or a desired use case? Or do you just want any pc that costs $1100?
Meshify c (something compact) R5 3600 /2070super
@little osprey
Here's a start
Mobo is good but its sold out rn. Comes back in stock often tho
what are the chances someone could find me an atx mobo with two m.2 slots on b450 that’s ryzen 3000 ready
Boom
@latent storm
Did you want the mobo or the chances I could find a mobo
Because the chances are 100% 😉
@native niche I have the meshify c. It was pretty easy to build in
Is this good? looking for a micro atx ~$50 case https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rnGxFT/cooler-master-masterbox-q300l-microatx-mini-tower-case-mcb-q300l-kann-s00
thank you @buoyant flame
should I even bother with m.2 ssd's right now? I've got 2 SSD's as it is.
Don’t know if anyone is on but can someone help me with a build that won’t post?
youre awesome regardless
so on aliexpress I started building a custom water cooling kit and got stumped on the fittings. but it's currently at $556 w/o fittings or fans
that's including shipping lol
that's the bulk of the cost though
taking advice I suppose
for $550 you can get a full blown EK loop
why are you paying 550 for chineseium
why different rad thicknesses
get two 60mm, shouldnt they fit in the 011D XL?
What are the differences between these Trident Neo Memory sticks? Which one would I want to go with for a Taichi x570 and 3700x combo?
what sticks?
b450 tomahawk
@viral ore build me a loop on the ek configurator? 😂
Is the cooler that comes with the r5 ok
They are fine if you are not overclocking
So an AIO isn’t needed
Remember the non X comes with a wraith stealth
Personally i find that AIO's are more for looks than anything
I have a Ryzen 5 2600 and i am using a 3rd party air cooler and this is my results https://i.gyazo.com/7339e7b8a10e4ca299f6d2afb365dfe2.png
when i play something demanding the max temp it hits is 49c
@little osprey What board are you planning on using and do you plan on overclocking
b450 max
If your case will have good enough air flow and you don't overclock with the Wraith stealth i have seen the max on loads hit 60c
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ im trying to put a pc together around 1100-1200\
@little osprey wrong link
@little osprey needs to be like this https://i.gyazo.com/48dd70450c0ddeee678531994edbc4bc.png
@little osprey a bit further down the page, there is a link that looks kinda like what Ecks posted above
CORSAIR TX-M Series TX850M
couple years old
mainly 1080
but would like high fps
For 1080p you can get away with getting high fps still with a 2060 Super
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/qr7Hb8 This is my system right now
Ya that memory is still fine
@little osprey for certain parts you might have already would be alright for your newer build
But also what are you using now
trying to figure out how many 90 degree fittings I need so all I have to do is cut the tubing
I figure there's less error in cutting and using fittings than there is with bending. that and I don't own a heat gun
do you already have your build?
best thing to do is take a picture of it
get it on pc, use paint or w/e and draw out your loop
fair enough, I'll be building my pc on either tuesday or wednesday. case comes in on tuesday and I told a friend I'd wait for him to get here before I build it
nice
waiting on usps right now to get my 2080ti
guys i found a really good deal a used(open box) rtx 2070 ryzen 7 3800x build but it has only 2 case fans and a cheap b450 board.Should i put 2 more case fans,a noctua cooler on the cpu and a b450 tomahawk in order to get better frames and not overheat?
Do you know which board?
Wait
Ignore that lmfao
If you’re not overclocking I actually wouldn’t worry about anything
Otherwise, I’d personally get a new board
im not planning on overclocking but i dont want my components to die sooner because of the heat
what should i do?
hold up I'm looking at that google sheets (I assume you know what I'm talking about lol)
ya lol
I had to get my laptop for that lmao
b450 tomahawk <- didnt you want to get away from the cheap useless board option?
it wasnt a useless board but still not the best
tomahawk = useless board for 99% of users
I would just keep the two case fans if you can't really afford two more (but they're case fans... they're cheap lol).
your sheets may be different, but looking at this one, the Tomahawk supports the 3800X very well without extra cooling if you're not OC'ing
https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1d9_E3h8bLp-TXr-0zTJFqqVxdCR9daIVNyMatydkpFA/htmlview
bro @analog hearth i have 200 euros to spare
oh lmfao you're good then
i could just keep them for something more important in life tho
yeah lol
point being: what you might consider a cheap b450, could easily be a better board than the tomahawk
tomahawk is only "good" if you are trying to OC the pants of the cpu
i think it was the b450m d3sh
so a decent enough board
aye, considering you are buying a working system, the bios has been updated etc.
so nothing to worry about there
my rule with B450 motherboards: if it can handle the OC (aka has a green checkmark where the CPU is OC'ed), it's a good motherboard to choose, as long as you can update the BIOS
well no its not used just touched Once lol
actually he might have
because for the D3SH it matters in regards to the bios
the original launch bios doesnt support the 3800x
the F40 bios does.
i have a cpu that i never use and is slow af and i can use it to update the bios
Tomahawk has the flashback feature ;)
fair @foggy bough its just a "detail" that is practical to know about :)
so i keep the board and the stock cooler and have 2 case or 3 case fans right?
with these money i can also afford to buy a 144hz or 1440p monitor
can you give us a full pcpp list of the parts you have right now @foggy bough ?
it is a bit easier to talk about things when we have that :)
wait a sec
no rush :)
ryzen 7 3800x(stock cooler) rtx 2070 240gb ssd 1tb hdd 2 aerocool case fans and a b450 board(doesnt tell unfortunately)
oh I thought you said the mobo is a Tomahawk
bruh @analog hearth lol
nah, he was talking about potentially upgrading/sidegrading to a tomahawk
I just woke up haha
@foggy hazel yeah
should i keep it like that?
what case do you currently have @foggy bough ?
he has everything built
you didnt list a case, hence the question :)
its a aerocool rgb case
ah, kk
not too big but not too small its mid tower
aye aye
doesnt matter all that much
in a given case, the recommended minimum case fan amount is 2 fans
aight so i just keep it how it is and instead of upgrading specs, get a better monitor?
1 front, 1 back
yes
ofc, there are exceptions IF the case has silly bad levels of air flow/access
but, that is something you can fix later
if my components overheat what should i do?
idk lol
that question is about as relevant as this: What would you do if you got hit by a random falling bovine?
after you get hit by a bovine, i doubt you will be running anywhere.
anyway :)
re: 2070: there are not really any "cheap" 2070's
its either a 2070 or it is not
if its a one fan cheap build quality rtx 2070 with no.backplate?
backplate = no impact on anything
ohhh oki
1 fan cooling solutions = blower style coolers
ok
again, they are designed like that
thanks for the advice man
they might not be for you, but they are like that on purpose
you are very welcome :)
have a really nice day and get 1000 fps on.all the games you play
same to you
may the frames be with you as well
What's a bovine
moooooooooooooooooo
Oh
Could anyone recommend a 512 GB NVME drive? The one I originally had on my list is sold out and I'm still unsure what brands are good
Look at #storage-devices pinned messages, there's a spreadsheet of SSDs
You can find which ones are deemed good quality as well as the ones deemed trash lol
For example, WD Green is trash, WD Blue 3D NAND is good
#building-and-recc-chat Hey all, I'm a relative noob looking for advice. I've built my last few PCs but my last one was 5 years ago. I want a new gaming computer but I'm not playing anything too crazy. The last few games I played were the Steam versions of Xbox games (Arkham games, Fallout 4, Skyrim, NBA 2k20, Madden19, etc.). My current graphics card is pushed to its limit and gets a little streaky with some of those games. I'm looking for a new gaming PC, I also do audio recording (mostly just podcasting), and light video editing so I like a good processor. I'm fine buying a pre-built this time, I just want to move some of my hard drives over from my current computer. I can't find how many open SATA ports are available on pre-built PC's. Here are my two questions: 1) Any recommendations for pre-built PCs that meet my criteria in the $1,000 range? 2) Any way to tell how many open SATA spots on the motherboard of a pre-built computer? Thanks!
@silent cedar are you looking specifically for a prebuilt? Like are you fine building your own or do you just want a prebuilt? Also for #2, a lot of prebuilts dont even use the same motherboard for each build, its just whatever they have in stock (probably just whatever was the cheapest for them to buy at the time) so its not really possible unless they tell you what specific motherboard you are getting in the spec list/if you email them or whatever
@teal bison I'm done doing my own build just figured it didn't really save much money anymore. And what you're saying about manufacturers is what I was afraid of. Looks like I'll be building again
definatly for the best, and you will be saving some money and getting better value parts. a lot of the prebuilts in that range that i was looking at are using the i5 9400f, and you are definately going to want a r5 3600 or 3700x
It sounds like amd is back on its game? I bought their "8 core" cpu in 2015 before the razon and was kind of mocked by others
yeah amd is definately on top unless you are looking to spend $500 for a few extra fps
Any reco on a gpu? I need a dual monitor setup for work. A lot of pre-built gaming pcs are only one video output which seems crazy to me
well that depends, how heavy are you into your production work? if its pretty light and more of a side hobby, id go with a 3600 and a 5700xt or 2070 super, depending on other choices like if you want rgb or a specific case or stuff like that
if you go with a 3700x id say the 5700xt or 5700, again depending on other wants/needs
I just record and produce a podcast, looking to start a YouTube channel.
you got your own audio stack already?
@teal bison So I was looking at this open box PowerSpec, it would be right at my price and the motherboard has 6 SATA spots so I could get all my current drives in there plus the SSD it comes with
The only question is if the NVIDIA GeForece GTX 1070 TI is a big enough upgrade on video
maybe im blind but i cant find a price on it
Originally 1800, on sale for 1300, open box for 1000 and change
@foggy hazel I just run an 8 channel mixer into a Focusrite... not very sophisticated but it does the job at the moment
so 1000
Yeah, it seems hard to be for $1000. It is a bigass case with some open slots on the motherboard so I could mod rather than build (that would be my preference). I'm just trying not to get too limited in my ability to customize, but I also want to spend time using it rather than modding it
its not a great gpu for the total price, looks like a lot of the budget was spent on a custom loop and the case, along with rgb and cablemod kit
Hmm, that is a good point and they skimped to an i5 for that price
I'm moving form a 1050 TI so I'm sure it would feel like a big jump for me, but I don't want to be replacing it in a year or two
i mean the 9600k is decent, just not as good as what amd is offering
Especially when taking price into consideration
^
Will that GPU not do the job for me or is it just me not getting my moneys worth?
CPU is $220, Motherboard is $225, Case is $140, Windows 10 Pro $200, Ram $100, GPU is less than $100... I mean the price on this is basically what it would cost to build it and I could always swap GPUs later. But I guess it is really a matter of convenience and AMD vs. Intel
Yeah, I just have two Dell SE2417HG (1080 @60hz)
So I would need to upgrade monitors too if I were going to buy anything much nicer
wait where is the 1070ti less than 100? id like to get one
and yes, while that build may be close to 1000, you can build better for cheaper is what im saying
I just googled it and the first result was $74 but that might be the wrong card https://www.google.com/search?q=NVIDIA+GeForce+GTX+1070+Ti&client=opera&hs=dKS&sxsrf=ALeKk03SQzIep97LsN3WVE6Qkg6sM0wzRw:1586645520039&source=lnms&tbm=shop&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiMuOyUu-HoAhWbW80KHbYyB08Q_AUoAXoECA4QAw&biw=1920&bih=939
*84
I'm going to use it for work too so whatever I spend can be a write-off, I'm just eager to get something new since I'm going crazy in quarantine not being able to play newer games
That first result is a scam, avoid that store.
(matastore.club)

I was gonna say lol how are they selling that?
Alright, I think I'm gonna have to build. I don't think the simplest solutions will get the job done for me. Thank you all so much for your help, especially @teal bison !
No problem, sorry couldnt find anything that was very great but good luck building
Can any1 message me links to a cheap bright rgb strip for 4 pin
What kind of board do you have @humble rivet
I have x470 prime
Question should I get lian li 24 pin rgb series one for 20$ or lian li series 2 for 50
so that's at $700 right now and that's w/o a pump lol I started with the configurator.
I know I could get $50 or so cheaper by going with a cpu block instead of the cpu+mb block
and like $40 cheaper by dropping some of the tubes
https://www.ekwb.com/shop/ek-xres-250-spc-pwm-classic-rgb-plexi-incl-pum need opinions on that pump

or should I go with one of the $130 ones?
I’m going for an all rgb, $1,400 budget build. Can I get some help on trying to get a better GPU and monitor but keep my preferences at the budget? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/MoonlightGZ/saved/3zWn7P
If you want RGB just spend it on fans. Getting any other RGB product is a waste of money tbh. Also if you arent going to record/stream then go 5700
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/gJzLq3
I am gonna record and stream on some occasions
What PSU? Some PSUs are worth replacing when you can
because poor quality
wattage doesnt determine quality btw. Nor does rating
Also note that Sunbow has rebrands out there that you dont know what you'll get until you get it. Thus you shouldn't get it as most likely you'll get a bad SSD
What’s a safer bet for a ssd
This is my current psu
CORSAIR TX-M Series TX850M CP-9020130-NA 850W ATX12V v2.4 / EPS 2.92 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Semi-Modular Power Supply https://www.newegg.com/product/9SIA85V6KB9931?m_ver=1
If I were me I would go with the WD Blue 3D NAND, 500GB
What mods would you guys suggest to this build template for someone who is a casual gamer? Anything I should down or upgrade? https://www.ibuypower.com/Store/Ryzen-Primal-Gaming-Daily-Deal
uhm guys to connect to the internet from a dekstop do you need a wifi adapter or smthing?
@foggy bough Yeah, I built my desktop and it doesn't have onboard wifi. I just bought a card and plugged it in
obviously if you can get a hardline connection that is better than wifi anyway
okay
im just thinking hypothetically, but is it possible to get 2 gpu's cooled by the kraken g12 in the same case for an eatx build
i have a case up with 3 spots for 360mm radiators
Should I save for the strimer plus rgb or get the old one for 20$
What’s the best (cheap and good) rx5700 xt?
@modern shadow You'll be fine most ways you swing but they'll really all be in the $380-$420 range.
I personally find https://tinyurl.com/wf8pdan to be a good choice. Has a nice back plate and core clock at 1670 MHz up to 1925. Also right under that $400 mark.
@proud galleon it is recommended that you use non shortended url's
Ah, my bad.
makes it more clear what you are linking, without having to potentially risk it :)
I need a 144hz 1080p monitor for optimal performance on R6. Any suggestions?
Can someone help me pick parts for my pc (dm me)
Whats the requirements
So you can get some decent 1080p 144hz monitors on amazon for less than 200 if you are on a budget, i personally use an xl2411p from benq
cool, thanks yall
anyone have experience with this power supply https://pcpartpicker.com/product/XCjG3C/evga-power-supply-100w10500kr
no but according to the tier list, its potentially dangerous
would not recommend
but no i have not had any personal experience with it
@onyx oxide Sorry, misread link: these are not good PSUs. https://www.jonnyguru.com/blog/2018/11/12/evga-750n1-750w-power-supply/6/
does anyone have any suggestions for a 500w power supply that is reasonably prices and reliable?
@glad rover thanks for the link it helped save me from a bad decision
cv550
is it worth the extra $10 for the 650?
yeah I guess?
like psu is one of the most resilient thing in your pc
a little more and you won't have to fuss about power while upgrading
See if you can also find a phanteks amp in stock somewhere
its pretty popular so its often oos
Anyone got any sites were to buy windows activation keys
ebay
I mean its like 4 bucks so what do you have to lose
Stonks
Xd
Yes
can someone give me a recommendation for a pc with a $900 budget?
@stoic island ty
Yw
Do y’all think it’s fine if my cpu doesn’t have a cooler on it if I’m just using it to update the bios
Cus I bought a b450 board put my Ryzen 3rd gen in it to realize it doesn’t have an updated bios
So ima take my 1600af from my other build and put it into this board to just update it
well it's fine
But I don’t feel like remounting my aio
I guess
worse than a black out is your cpu shutdown due to overheat
Yea
I'm getting so anxious to build my pc that it's starting to depress me
Hi peeps i have a question
computer was working fine brand new custom built it was working fine for a while then all of a sudden started freezing and then it started to occur more often
and then when booting the system it wouldnt post
what could the issue be?
Any other details we should know?
nope
What happens when you try to boot now?
when I turn it on I t would t post
Hello all, I want to build my first own Gaming PC and I cant decide what graphics card I should get. I want to stream and make YT vids and have G. Skill Trident Z Neo 32GB DDR4-3600 RAM which cost me 200€, and now I only have abt 400€ left for GPU. Are there any suggestions what I should get?
Or should I take some lower range RAM?
2060 super is a solid choice especially because your streaming. If you want to go return your ram because you don't really "need" 32gb, you'd probably have to get non rgb ram. If you did that you could save 100 bucks and get a 2070 super
top 10 sentences that bring men to their knees
lol
3.0 devices will work with a x570 board
np
x570 boards as well as pcie 4.0 work with a 3900x
gaming performance difference will be little
ok
yo this a good pc?: https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/
Im replacing the 3 fans with 3 ll120s so ur gonna see 4 there
any thoughts?
anything to change??
thanks
that's an empty link @woeful agate
Does this just mean to activate windows?
is that your personal computer or a work computer on a network
Personal
Is this just windows home?
It’s windows pro and yeah it was
Nope or well I’m not sure since my friend helped me setup everything
ah
it's probably the case
could try and buy another
I've never bought a Windows key, eBay or otherwise, so I can't advise
Just find a reliable looking seller
^
Ok thanks
I normally buy my keys from kinguin or cdkeys
Someone rate this pls https://pcpartpicker.com/user/Hypercore/saved/8LDht6
My requirments: falls somewhere between 1000 and 1200
Have a m.2 boot drive
Have a rx5700xt
Ryzen 5 3600
Dont change the cooler and fans
case for around 50 and 70
And thats all! If you have a better build idea, Ping or DM me!
@woeful agate before even trying to think about a flagship mobo on a gaming machine, let alone actually getting one, get a flagship GPU. Also Corsair anything but PSUs are overpriced
AIOs are in general a waste of money. As well as don't need a 750w PSU. Save the money and put it all towards the GPU
@woeful agate https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/LJWHb8
how it is now seems better, Personally no matter what I build I always got with at least 750W. Corsair makes really good power supplies and all the pc Ive built for myself and people have never had any problems. AIOs are not that great when the pump fails on them it will detroy everything so fan cooling is the way to go. 2070 Super is an amazing card no need to get better unless you want to be the type to say you have a 2080 ot 2080 ti
This is what im building now https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HCvjL2
Spending money on something that is not going to give you any benefit seems fairly weird to me. But that might just be me
lemme try to make a 2500cad gaming pc
We have been there before
lol
Side note, pump failure aren't that common I believe
I seem to remember posting a 2500 cad build the other day
Its like anything else
I'm gonna try to fit in a 2080s
Sooner or later stuff will break and/or you will be unlucky
That is true
I'd prefer a broken CPU fan over a broken pump
Ive rarely ever had a pc break, onbly when the part was cheap or someone put it wrong and had to go rebuild for them
My take on aio's is still that as long as you are not trying to oc the pants of a cpu. They are generally a wste of money
Its really common after a couple years but when it does break it ruins the whole pc
Yes, a good aio is good
A good aio is also not cheap
At least when a fan cooler breaks you can still salvage your pc
Anyways, this is pretty good, with quite a big of wiggle room for whatever extras
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/QmT2Zf
"Its really common after a couple years but when it does break it ruins the whole pc" <- just no

Ive had many friends and other builders/gamers have pump failures. From all brands corsair, nzxt etc.
Thanks, World of Tanks for sponsoring today's video! Use invite code TANKTASTIC at https://tanks.ly/2U1zt9C and get a T-127 Tank, 500 Gold, and 7 Days Premium Access.
AIO water coolers seem to be all the rage, but we're here to tell you that big air coolers are where it's at...
LTT also had a video on why watercooling is good
GN also has a better testing methodology and they had water cooling come on top pure performance wise
By your own logic, those people only had breakage because of cheap parts then
@stoic island the performance of aio's is not being questioned, its the price to measurable benefit ratio that is
Because the performance side of things is just simple math
Fair enough. But GN also mentions how little AIOs and other liquid coolers actually fail.
Aye, I know
Anyways, heres gonna be my suggestion for the bare minimum for that build @woeful agate
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/JjF7n7
thats at 2100 Cad, leaving you lots of room to change out the case for one with more rgb, or change to x570 if you really want to, and others
If you look back, my stance has never been against aio's because of failure rate☺
Ah I see, but I feel the pricing on some are fairly good now
Especially the evga clc280, performs well and is only about 20$ more than a d15.
(I seriously dont understand how some of you can debate things while using the mobile app)
What do you mean?
@stoic island I am going to return to this conversation when I am back at a machine
how can i send my pcpartpicker list in here
I see
it wont let me lol
it keeps saying i cant post links from that site lol
Speed of typing and reference look ups being annoying to do are the main reasons
idk why it wont let me
that is true, but I'm usually pretty rash and only really looks at the tier lists for quality of parts and newegg for prices
so it's not that hard for me on mobile
though I'm on pc now.
@simple stag DM it to me
Maybe its somehow a restriction of rookie
Bad psu
how come
Overpriced motherboard
yea that PSU is potentially dangerous xD
Because the components are iffy
@Krillen#1516 "Personally no matter what I build I always got with at least 750W", what if I told you that you can run a stock 3950x and 2080ti off a good 550w. If you want to OC then 650w. A PC that needs a 750w PC would be HEDT CPU or dual GPU, in which case that RM PSU would be meh quality compared to actually excellent quality PSUs. The PSU cost should be proportional to the PC cost. Things like better voltage regulation/ripple, transient response, efficiency, noise, multi rail, etc is nice to have. Spend the extra money elsewhere, not on a meh 750w PSU.
oh man glad i brought that in here
ah, untaggable
Recommendation on where to buy windows activation keys?
that long paragraph confused me haha
it starts off sounding like he is recommending 750 psu then ends saying dont spend money on PSU spend elsewhere
@cursive wharf he left the server
dont make me look insane with you deleting them messages
hahahaha
