more than my personal one too...
so, are you planning on the black or white lian li case?
man, thats a hard decision. lighting looks better in white. but ive always been a black case guy
white cost more too i think
Get white 👌
same, but that white case looks real cool
plus, its black on the inside, so its more accomodating for dark colored components
hmmmm
you know what? i didnt really look into it before ont he white and thet black interior does make it pop
I'm just gonna wait a bit more for case temps and stuff
right now at this time i dont really play a whole lot of games long periods of time bc i have limited internet. but once fiber gets in my area i will look into new cases and such. also a real desk and chair to sit at as wll
so temps for me and what im using at this time arent super important
gonna have t get me some more stand offs bc i think i stripped 4 of them. lol not sure how i did that. i barely snugged them down during install.
i will be water cooling the next case so i can get rid of that massive cooler i have.
yea. lots of assembly involved there
Air cooling :D
a dead pump doesnt cost $130 and a full loop replacemnt
depends on how custom it is
adding another GPU or swapping it doesnt cost a bunch, if comparitive to GPU AIO
as a GPU block is cheap, and you're running the CPU/GPU off of one pump so less points of failure
comparative to a CPU pump and a GPU pump with full AIO
you can build mine for me @cursive wharf
tbh, getting a hybrid gpu and a cpu AIO can look just as sick as a custom loop
just get an eisbaer loop or other modular aio
and then you can upgrade or replace parts much easier
witha wide open case i can see it being fairly simple tbh
applying some work for a stranger I dont know and wont get compensation from, while also being liable for any damages I make, while needing to worry about traveling. seems good enough
wrong chat
@cursive wharf also known as the "ye... NO!" option
Okay so we ended up stripping the entire PC double checked all the pins and motherboard sockets and nothing is wrong with any of it. We plugged everything back in and it's having the same issue so it's probably due to a user error. Gonna take it to a place where they have more experience with this stuff.
An RGB header.... that... was the problem XD
Anyone have any experience with the new EVGA GA psus? Know if they’re any good?
depends on the series
Its not about what brand slaps the label on the side of the PSU that matters, its the oem people that make the guts.
EVGA Supernova 750 Ga, 80 Plus Gold 750W, Fully Modular, ECO Mode with Dbb Fan, 10 Year Warranty, Compact 150mm Size, Power Supply 220-GA-0750-X1 https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07WW1XF51/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_cymtEbQHBV5MN
idk about this one chief
How would I find that out?
just look at reviews on youtube, johhnyguru, and techpowerup
I literally can’t find any since it’s relatively new
I see no 8 in 80 plus
ikr
😂😂
o hecc
But ya I can only find reviews for the other G series when I look it up
gotta find at least one review on the right unit/series. Or find the tech specs
I mean it’s got a 10 year warranty which sounds like they have decent faith in it
yes and no
Worst case it fails and I return it?
What about FSP Hydro psus?
Guys I need help a build problem
I need to look into it so don't quote me, but iirc GA lacks some sort of protection or smth. Pretty sure I was skeptical of it for some reason. Tho I need to look into it when it's not 6am from me staying up all night and when I'm not on my phone
@strange garden some are good some are bad
@hearty fern it's not the OEM that matters, it's the specific model and components inside it. Seasonic is an OEM for most of their PSUs. Focus Plus Gold/Play being one of them iirc. That specific model also has super high overload voltage ripple. Thus not that good despite most OEM Seasonic PSUs being decent
@foggy hazel sounds about right lol
Guys i need a case for a tomahawk max a r5 3600 a gtx 1070 ti and a bq 600w
@umbral perch have you already bought all those parts
Yeah but im on mobile
U can still send
Im going to miami rn
Case 80$ but i need fans in it
At least 3
Mobo i took the tomahawk max
@upper condor
@umbral perch https://pcpartpicker.com/product/QYzkcf/cooler-master-masterbox-mb511-rgb-atx-mid-tower-case-mcb-b511d-kgnn-rgb This one has front fans and also a mesh front if the pictures are correct
I heard these had pretty good airflow too but IDK if all the fans you need come with the case
ItS nOt tHe OEm, yeah lemme get a great wall
..?
Guy pinged me earlier for no reason
There was a reason... Specific models are different
Ya don't say
Hm, what's a tighter spread, evga, or the oem they use for a series?
Way to miss the entire point
The exact model of the PSU
Thank you for the different things are different lesson
Quality even differs in the same series
Missed that lesson in primary
What
@austere condor I found you in another server
post pictures of my builds in other servers too
Did u pay $302 for that pc, if so what do u sell it at
Hm, me, looks at $50 1800x, $50 fury, $50 fury x, $50 2 x58 12 phases.
$50 cosmos se, $50 4820k, few $0 ssds
i'd expect to get at least $350 out of it, bout more around $400
$50 x79 gigabyte
Interesting
Want to do a price to performance battle on your next build?
I'll use a $90 r9 390 I bought
A fury would be a cheap win.
I'll do my 2 furies then. Gotta probably reinstall drivers tho, 3dmark is having a timing fit.
I get 22k in fs at $290
Last legit spy run was 7995
but using parts you've bought in the past or had once doesnt really count when you're in a price/performance build off
have to go out and buy all the parts
specifically for the competition
I just bought all this stuff minus the psu in the last month
Thats why I said next build
you seem like you have a point to prove that no one cares about. 😂
I simply asked if you wanted to do a price to performance contest on next build
I'm waiting on someone to get their parts for an oc battle and am bored
I mean, I'd tell you my numbers, but you'd find them hostile
so look, i have to be nice in this server, its best you uh, find something better to do before you get yourself in trouble
lol
ah good, back where you belong, not talking 😄
uh oh, here he comes again
lets see what he's got to say
hope its smart
Very polite, thought we could have a friendly contest and you turned it into this
I wanted a scrapyard wars and you wanted to be mean, ok then
Yeah, bc I clarified the ground rules
I really don't know what nerve I stepped on, but I'm sorry I said that you seemed a bit dense. The comment was situational and I thought that was self evident. I apologize that I misinterpreted its clarity and insulted you.
Have a good day my dude.
@little osprey hows the cooling on that case
@mild roost monitors?
thank you @upper condor thats much better.
I have a Asus 3D vision and an omen @wispy matrix
never used a fully modular psu before. does it come with the cabling?
Yes
I have that psu, very nice
And that ram
And that cpu
If youd like I can send some pictures in a couple minutes @scenic quiver
Of the psu and cables
yeah sure! i love seeing inspiration.
Might replace omen with another asus 3D so it’s dimensions are correct and line up.
all goo, i got nothing but time, witing on ups man with my new-used gfx card.
well, my old GIGABYTE gtx980 decided to let it's smoke out, so a buddy sent me an EVGA gtx980ti
im inclined to agree. mostly cause i got it for free, and ill say anything at this point haha
i'm getting mixed signals though. people have told me my old gpu is repairable, others say it's not and the repair would exceed the cost of the card. and i can't come to terms with trashing something i dumped $600 into four years ago.
Oo rip
Its funny looking back on that
Something so amazing 4 years ago is bad now
it is not bad
yeah, big double edged sword. i'll likely mount it in the first of a collection called the wall of shame.
and yes, it is most likely possible to fix it. However, if you dont have the knowledge yourself, it is not going to be cheap
correct.
and it is not exactly as if there are GPU repair people on every corner :)
I consider myself to be very skillful, but thinking baout fixing that gpu is daunting
"stuff" happens.
yes, it sucks.
but you can stand there looking at it forever, or you can move on :)
indeed it does. i wish i knew what caused my card to fry like it did. I'd love to prevent it in the future..
but like you said, i moved on to a 980ti.. whenever it gets here lol.
last i had a gpu do something like what you described, i changed my psu after. Because i WAS pushing things
-ish
also i have a concern with installing new hardware under current operating system. in the past with win7,8 i'd normally just reformat the drives, and reinstall windows with the corect key. but with windows 10, i don't know what i need to do, to install new hardware. more specifically new mobo, cpu, and ram.
it was a "lets settle this debate" kinda test of things
@scenic quiver it should be fine if using old hdd or ssd
so other than hardware drivers, i should be fine to upgrade?
@scenic quiver is your win10 key a oem or a retail?
uhh i not sure i remember, one sec
i am going to assume retail, because i bought it 4 years ago when i last upgraded.
i believe online? connected to all my gaming and stuff too? forgive my noobishness lol
dont worry :)
do the following
winkey + your account info
as you are typing that, an app should show up
just select that
if i did what you said correct, it brought up my account info?
oh i see, it's an online account. cause it asks me if i would like to sign in with local.
@scenic quiver aye, and that detail was what we wanted to know :)
now, things are nice and simple. you "only" need to know your account info. and you can install win10 on any machine
well that makes it really easy. okay thank you.
you are very welcome :)
@cursive wharf no, you might type a lot, but you have to eat your spinach
(yes, i see you lurking there, typing/plotting away)
@hearty fern So, you say that you should judge a PSU by OEM instead of the brand. What I just explained to you was how by just judging by OEM you can still get yourself a 💩 PSU. So, instead of judging by OEM, you judge each and every PSU individually.
ah, the daily "wrong, wrong, also wrong" rebuttal
i judge my purchased by the reviews. more notably the negative revierws
if you mean the customer reviews?
those are generally fairly useless
because people will leave reviews based on the complete experience
not based on the product itself
Lol, you declined me typing before I even said anything Naed
well my backwards thinking hasn't let me down yet haha
@scenic quiver it is not backwards, it is a logical way of thinking. . The only challenge is how other people interact with it :)
This is true.
@cursive wharf i didnt decline your typing, i told you to eat your greens :P
Your first word was "no" tho
@scenic quiver consider how much more practical reviews could be, IF all the ones that give a low/high score because they had miraculously chosen the right part were not there.
@cursive wharf "no, ....."
Hmm, good point.
I see that no as a declining no. May be a temp one due to just needing to eat my greens
its a comment on you trying to weasel out of eating your greens
bahahahaha
could just try the command prompt dos approach for getting windows product key
FiNe dAD. IlL gO eAt mY GrEenS
@stray pine IF you are using an online account anyway, there is no point in doing that :)
open command prompt and type this in exactly. and boom theres your key
wmic path softwareLicensingService get OA3xOriginalProductKey
online account?
yes.
and i am on the way out, so i will just post this here for you now @stray pine https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/5387-how-tell-if-local-account-microsoft-account-windows-10-a.html
look at the Microsoft account part.
in waht situations would this even be used?
what*
ok so i read it and understand. still originally from whatever pc/laptop had the original install done for the product it can be found from there. basically with the help of onedrive it links all your stuff to other pc when logging in using your microsoft account.
once youve activated the windows key to your email/microsoft account it stays with you.
Can someone build me a $1000 gaming pc
Thoughts on this? Raised my budget but would maybe like to keep it under 1900 with a headset added. Not sure im sold on a amd gpu so want a 2070 super i think and I like the mid size. Haven't moved into new place yet either so not sure if i need the wifi or not https://pcpartpicker.com/list/jNYRwh
And I want to stream too
Is that my best bet on price for a 1440p 144hz monitor?
@shut rampart https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RQYRwh
You can change the case out. It was just the first case I saw
Were the WiFi
Just buy an add in card
What do you have rn
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/b6FmNq swapped mobo for better one with WiFi
It was an x570 chipset. Which is better for Ryzen 3rd gen
And last I checked 1200$ isn’t the same as 1000$
👌
Thats a nice price
Get an add-on card for that
And?
Cuz back Friday
Add on cards are much better
Didn’t I told you that
Oh didnt see
Mine was 1138$ with better stuff..... hmmmm
With WiFi ( $20 )
What ram is good but cheap
@shut rampart is all you need from the mainboard wifi?
@little osprey what is the whole build looking like
@foggy hazel he already bought it all
Yup
Im putting it together rn
nvm then
@little osprey i mean ur pcpp
just a waste of money
He has a 500 budget excluding the gpu
What is a waste of money?
something you cannot change now :)
My pic build?
The mobo
$120 for a mobo?
yea @shut rampart thats a solid start for what youre askgin
I think $120 is worth
theres always a b450 you can get for about that price
@wanton sail open for opinions?
@shut rampart it doesnt matter anymore, you have already purchased things.
now you have to enjoy the choices :)
So my pc is good?
if that is how you read it, have at it.
How do you read it
what did you buy @shut rampart ?
usually from left to right, top to bottom.
Can’t you read
theres a lot to read here. too much bantering to sift through lol
i saw the part where someone made a parts list for your $1000 pc
and that looked pretty solid. then i see you already bought parts?
@stray pine dont bother, he has indeed bought the parts. So there is no logical reason for the original question.
@shut rampart if you want to upgrade from then the get the R5 3600, ddr4 3600 RAM, and a 2060 or smth. If you're looking for better, prices will vary so kinda hard for even getting the same, before even thinking about an actual upgrade
@stray pine you missed the boy yelling wolf
@upper condor also the b450 Carbon Pro AC is worth its price
@cursive wharf only if you want/need what it offers.
Build quality wise it is. However whether it is worth it is subjective
Cheapest board that has good onboard wifi, decent VRMs, good sound chip
@cursive wharf the 5700 XT is better than a 2060......
@upper condor and they wanted to stream iirc
Do I ask for a refund
For no streaming at least
Of my pc
Because a 3600 isn't really too suitable for a truly great streaming experience on the average AAA game
You scaring me
Wdym, the 3600 is fine
Oh, I guess if your streaming off of it
Do you know how much processor power streaming actually uses if you aren't using Nvidia?
A bit, but I'm more concerned over lows rather then average perf
Average perf should be alright. Lows, don't think so
But for stuff besides streaming the 5700 XT is much better right
If you turn off enhanced sync it works fine
@upper condor i think @stray pine was answering me
barely a 10fps increase with 5700 over 2060
he was not
5700 non Xt?
XT @stray pine
5700 XT dude
ik thats what im talking about
Its a lot more than 10 fps
Even the normal 5700, you can bios flash it to be similar to a 5700 XT now
I think my pc is good
ooh wait. im looking at super 2060
over the base model 2060 yes
streaming wise i stand corrected the 2080 super is your best choice
Oh geez yeah and the rtx titan is the best gpu
@stray pine obvs the 2080 super is better
Its also 300$ more
@foggy hazel sorry i was open to opinions went back to work lol this what I have now ordered most of it not sure if I got best Mobo but probably need wifi still looking for case and headset too. Had the thermaltake v200 with last build and had no issues just worried about air flow https://pcpartpicker.com/list/P3TFmg
@wanton sail pls change ram
@upper condor whats wrong with that ram lol heard good things
Theres better
Like
@wanton sail your headset will that be usb or minijack?
Timings are 1 lower oh nooooo
will you be going with a standalone mic or?
@foggy hazel I usually just run a headset with mic still looking for a good one that doesnt break bank and works with setup
so, that is basically something usb based then
Last one was minijack and liked it but want one more comfortable vut sound as good for probably $80 or so
Not really
give me a moment then :)
Hi. Whats better? Intel or amd?

@wanton sail this does the same for you, for less
and yes, i have not changed the ssd, you can keep that if you want. I am nor personally a fan, but that does not make it into a bad drive [edit: clarification]
Ok so i take it amd is better
@mossy pine Intel
@mossy pine know you are baiting but amd has caught up so really depends what you're talking about but in nost cases Intel better but amd bargain for close
@wanton sail tf you talking about? AMD is better on pretty much every front
Ok so i have an old pc. Has amd athlon 64 3800+ 2.40ghz and i want to build a new computer
Its been 20 years since i done that tho
@mossy pine 14-ish years. not 20
Trying to stay around 5-600
@foggy hazel whats big difference between that mobo and one i had thats big difference
20 since i built my pentium 3 450 mhz
@mossy pine then yeah youll be buying all amd
And it outperformed newer computers for about 6 years
that was a weird thing to build in the late pentium 4 era @mossy pine
@wanton sail cheaper and does the same thing.
Maybe a bit longer not sure tho lol like 1997 i think i had to replace the board so i souped it
1997 is about right
@foggy hazel thanks lol mobo was what i was confused about
@wanton sail other changes are basically, better psu for less, better ram for less
all in all, more for less.
Ok so i want something new thats gonna be ahead for a bit like my p3 was
not happening at that budget
So with all the cores and stuff whats good for it. Kinda light on gameing but nothing too intense all my games are old
and i am not trying to be mean, just being realistic.
Probably not even gaming lol
IF you just want a machine for doing random tasks, a APU is a good/decent call
I knowbi can go to walmart and get a decent pc but its still kinda junk also
APU = the amd version of a cpu with an integrated graphics card
Ok which is? Whats basically standard for today technology
@mossy pine https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VdBFmg <- that is a suggestion, but that is very much scraping the bottom
it is not fast, but it works
What do u mean not fast
there are limits to what you can get at that price.
that machine is hitting those limits
So what is considered fast
At the price you're talking you would get a APU like a mobile or console cpu gpu combo not high end but cheap gaming
a standalone graphicscard, BUT, that is an item that only really becomes relevant IF you have the need for it
That's 3.7ghz compared to 2.40
yes, it is "fast" vs what you have
Plus 4 cores
but it is not fast vs what else is available
it is not "fast" in the sense that the p3-450 was compared to the other products on the market at the time
and yes, i remember, quite clearly how that one stomped around.
It's "fast" compared to what you have, but not "fast" compared to what people like us have
So what whould be recommended as fast but not new and top of the line
before i answer that (i will happily answer it)
That's not new and not top of the line.
I know i do nt need a hardcore gaming pc
let me ask you a couple of questions first
Ok
what kind of games do you actually play?
and what kind of stuff do you do on your machine aside from games?
On pc? Like i said there old like baldur's gate II vampire brave frontier.
Basic internet or download videos and music and burn movies
Yes i think. But kids might want to play fornite or something newer if it coukd do it
Not really sure whats needed
we can find something that could do that
would you be opposed to the system being fairly small?
as in, physically
As long as it performs well no
But if its smaller i dont know if i can build it lol
I know the old stuff not the new
dont worry, things are way easier now
Ok
i say that as someone who built back then, and still build now
Last i knew they were just about to come out with pci-e lol
it can
Burning and encoding movies is soo slow for me with what i have
:)
I don’t burn and encode movies
@mossy pine okay, finally got things working as i wanted.
keep in mind, prices are quite different between these two build
and it is not only performance related
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pnkqrV <- that is the small but highest performing of the two.
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KJjvDx <- that is the cheapest but still doing what you want build.
both of them have a fair deal of overlap in parts, but there are expenses in the small build, that would not be there IF things go slightly bigger, but that is not really relevant, it is a ballpark estimate that is "close enough"
Team L5 Lite 3D 480GB is also $55
being picky about the parts etc is not that relevant at the moment
I'd take the extra storage over the NVMe as usually if you need it you'd be getting a bigger NVMe
But eh, just me being picky
As per usual
not really, it is a relevant point, and i do agree, i use that drive because it hits about the price point i wanted reserved for storage
as i mentioned, ballpark estimate :)
Yeah
@mossy pine actually, this is closer to the actual cost of the small build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/kjjvDx
(difference is a different case that enables use of the stock cooler instead)
also @mossy pine the small build is about double the performance of the other one
Any particular reason for a 2600 over a 1600AF? I thought they were very similar, and saving like $35 on CPU seems like it could be worth it
2600 more recent, it works with x570
Technically 1600af is more recent and shares 2600 architecture though doesn't it?
its the die harvested replacement
Basically a 2600 for $85 I think. Released relatively recently
BUT I would love to know if my impression is wrong, not an expert
it is not "quite" a 2600, but kinda
for most people, it is close enough.
but the price of it jumps all over the place.
and as i said earlier, those lists are ballpark estimates
its a lower clocked 2600
@foggy hazel question
Im currently installing the motherboard but the stand off is slightly off but not much is it fine or no?
@foggy hazel back to build you sent always get worried about mobo cpu compatibity. Is it goinf to be compatible out of box or ia it one ill have to use a usb to flash bios for it to work
Yeah thats fine
@lunar bane nothing to worry about
@wanton sail you would have to find the one retailer that has stock that is 9+ months old
in other words, it is not something i would worry about at this point.
IF you want to make certain, send the retailer you are buying from a message where you ask them about the age of the stock.
K thanks
you are very welcome :)
Need help building a gaming pc (1200 budget)
again?
Yeah I lost my link plus I’m bored
use the search button.
Lol
No I got my ear drained
@mild roost wanna move here so we dont have two convos going on in general?
Sure
alright
so
this is my rough diagram
of what your case's mounting points for fans and radiators looks like
What case do you have?
Corsair Carbide 275r
so
the AIO that you had selected in your build is a 240mm AIO
the only possible mounting point for it would be the front
like that
now for about $160, you could get a 360mm AIO which will fill up all 3 spaces to make it look a little less awkward if that makes sense
only issue is that the 360mm AIO that corsair has does not include RGB fans
crap, nevermind
its $190
i was in the same situation as you, i had the 240mm aio but only space to mount it in the front
heres mine
youll notice this space down here is empty
not a super big deal
but just something i wanted to point out
especially with that mesh panel in the front, it might look a bit weird only having 2 fans
I thought it would be able to fit up top. I should probably do more research on building pc’s. And research on the parts
yes
i was exactly the same haha
the specs for my case said that it would fit a 240mm aio up top
so i tried
and it turns out it does fit, if you dont have a motherboard 🙃
feel free to ask, just dont be offended if the result is that you get told to read a bunch of articles :)
Eee, u don’t need a mobo, that’s just a useless part lol
exactly.
the more precisely you can ask, the easier it is for us to help you
speaking of motherboards
we are working off this list here https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cXx26R
but, that can also be a double edged sword.
im just making a couple modifications to make the build a bit cheaper without sacrificing looks/performance
i know @lime forge (thank you thou:) )
r5 2600
i plan to go from matx to atx
whatever is cheaper lol
neither of them @tranquil dust
tomahawk is cheaper
I was looking at the Corsair crystal case, which is a beast of case and huge but I think it’ll fit on top. But it’s like $100 more
if youre not overclocking, a motherboard is a motherboard
i am ocing
@tranquil dust what cooler?
at microcenter the asus is 110 rn
@mild roost if i were you, id save that extra $100 and put it towards a 360mm AIO to fit up front in the case you were planning to get to fill up all three spaces just like this
it will look fantastic
@tranquil dust this is a new build right? you dont have any of the parts yet?
especially if you go for some RGB fans
we need a build chat 2 lol
lmao
yes @lime forge we do :)
i wanna go from matx to atx
i will move with @tranquil dust
i think its more of an issue with people not using the channels under computer hardware tbh
this chat is just a go to
@tranquil dust we are going to #cpus-mobo-and-memory
and it works for most people lol
okay
thanks naed
likewise @lime forge
So when I build it, I would have to take out the old fans that are built into it. And then also can I switch the fans from the case with the fans from aio to get the rgb? Or are the aio fans in place and can’t switch out
you should be able to interchange the fans as long as they are same size which i bleieve they are
for the AIO, yes
im just not sure if those stock phantecks fans will be strong enough to cool the radiator
So should I get 3 Corsair 120 mm fans, that are like $80 I think
but you could just have it set up like zacks pc, have the fans on the back side of radiator (facing mobo) and the rgb light shines on all the components
doesnt have to be corsair if you dont want but thats up to you lol
fair enough then lol
I have a shrine , I need shelving tho to put above my setup. And I want to change the paint color but I ain’t spending money for a room when I’m gonna move out soon
your uh
your roof seems to be saggin
wait is that like a sheet? or a tarp? or somethin?
i like corsair's product i just dont buy em cause they pricey lol
the only company i am woefully against is razer tho
also if you can do it, brand synergy is
meh
i personally love brand synergy. i just dont do it cause its expensive lol
That a roof, I’m in unfinished basement and the house owners just stapled up sheets
brand synergy is giving yourself a reach-around imo
okay i thoguht it was a sagging roof cause it was water damaged and at risk for falling lol
No but I wouldn’t doubt that happening in this house, this house is badly built. When it rains hard, rain gets through and it started dripping water in the lights and in the smoke detector lol.
I would avoid Corsair mice tho
Anyone know if the gigabyte b450 pro WiFi comes with bios update out of box ?
Depends on seller
Newegg?
Most do, but not all as some may have old stock
So you have to contact them and ask
Alright I’ll do that thanks
Also good choice on mobo
@cursive wharf my Corsair mouse does well, it has a high dpi. I have my last dpi setting to the highest dpi and it’s like the speed of light with a little move of my mouse
Just saying
My Corsair mouse is eh, 5 months in and had to do a good cleaning of the mouse wheel despite being decently clean. My dad has gone through two Corsair mice recently both of which had left click failing
Tryna right some wrongs
yeah but ive had issues like that across a long range of mice.
Are u sure he didn’t rage and brake it lol. I admit that I have broken some stuff by raging
No, just high failure rates
I can say Corsair use to be good. But now they aren't really that good on perif
What mobo comes with the bios update and is compatible with the amd 5 3600 because I’m uncertain if that one will have the bios update and don’t have a old cpu to upgrade the bios either .
ATX MOBO
@little osprey we have been over this already :)
Yeah but most reviews I’ve seen that are recent are saying they had to update it
From Newegg and amazon
I did Newegg said they are uncertain and said that it only says it supports the older CPU’s
which board did you end up with?
The gigabyte b450 pro WiFi
B450 AORUS PRO WIFI <- ? that or
Yea
you have to get stock that is about 9+ month old, for it NOT to be supported
Yeah Ik but those reviews on it were from this month and last month that’s why I’m kinda concerned because I’d have no way to update it
i must admit, i am disappointed that newegg has that bad inventory handling.
do you have the transcript from the talk @little osprey ?
I do not I actually just got done talking with them a sec ago tho
did you close the window yet?
Guy wasn’t much help and yea I did
hm
naed you could try a chat
He recommended a 300$ mobo lmao
see it firsthand
i am
or is it that tight
price shifts etc @stoic island
I already bought the ram and case
oh
rip
also memory speed is dependent on CPU not mobo lol
my B450 mobo is currently sporting some trident z neo 3600mhz ram
It is what it is can always upgrade in the future this is gonna be my first build ever so you live and learn lol
just got connected now
Okay
you gotten the transcript from your talk yet? @little osprey
or didnt you tick the box?
No I can’t get it I was on a tab from Facebook and I’m on my phone
kk
What did they say to you?
still talking with them
hello can anyone let me know if the MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI is compatible with my gskill 3600mhz ram?? lmao motherboard i previously bought wasnt, it was asus b450m
that sounds ... odd ...
it was too high of hz on the last one, read ddr4 and thought i was good lmao
thank u for clarifying
also, please have a bit of patience with your question :) we are not watching all the channels all the time :)
ah word thanks i tried looking on the motherboard page and it didnt say but thats good dude thanks!!
Go to link
(aka, please delete the question in #cpus-mobo-and-memory, so that someone else doesnt start working on it)
good call haha
I’m not 100% if I’m right because I’m a noob myself
nah it says right there bro!! haha
thank you @wraith charm
Alright man glad I could help
it was either get a better motherboard or get different ram, and well i dont want to downgrade to worse ram lmao
Exactly lol I might look into that mobo honestly
anyone got recommendations for a triple monitor stand?
@wintry dragon I do not sorry
@little osprey i would not worry about the bios, based on the talk.
aye
You know any others that are compatible just in case for a backup
not with the same feature set at a reasonable price
If it doesn’t have WiFi that’s fine I can always just get a USB adapter . I might go get some stuff from my local Best Buy
you mean, potentially get a mainboard from bestbuy?
Possibly but I might pick up that cpu from Best Buy they have it for 175
and that one has the advantage of NOT needing a cpu for doing a potential bios update
@little osprey see above
@foggy hazel Thanks again man I appreciate you 🙌🏻
anytime :)
Ryzen 2700 or 2700x?
So question, I just installed a ryzen 7 2700x, and my computer is doing one long and two short beeps, I've tried removing the GPU re seating it, then tried with the dimm, that didn't work so I'm lost on what to do, even if I put my ryzen 3 cpu back in it still gives me the same code.
what mobo
@foggy hazel really thank you for helping, got mah pc ported and booted yeet
With those 250 fps on Minecraft LOL
did u check he ram? @cosmic pier
like put it in a diff pc
kinda sounds like either your motherboard, bios or ram.
did u just build the pc or have u been using it
What the difference between the prebuilt and diy
really? lol
@wispy matrix price, more customizable if done yourself
Yeah one ram was bad
Anyways @foggy hazel what was the results of the talk? About the mobos in wegg's inventory?
What's better, an i5-8300h with a gtx 1050 or ryzen 5 3550h with a gtx 1650? For a laptop btw already have a pc
I'm leaning towards the 3550h with the 1650 since it's only 25 bucks more but want other people's input
ryzen
Though so ty
Good build?
not sure what to get https://gpu.userbenchmark.com/Compare/Nvidia-RTX-2060S-Super-vs-Nvidia-GTX-1660S-Super/4049vs4056
16 is the norm
Do you currently have workloads that need more than 16gb?
Do you plan on having workloads that will use more than 16gb?
just to fill the slots?
yes
corsair and Aorus make dummy 'light kits' to fill the slots 🙂
I have the corsair ones.
it's great
xD
😄
join the gang
we dont need no RGB for performance
I dont know any more
I SAID GIT
How much is in a HP Laptop
take Mr1 with you
you can check in task manager
huh?
what do you do on PC?
you could at the same time >:)
I want my pc to be good for a long time
no upgrades for a long time
Would that be fine?
Well Moore's law is slowing down
like computers getting 2x better every 2 years
"Moore's law is the observation that the number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles about every two years."
I just want to play new games

hmm
Quick list, need to think about changing some things around as of now, but this would be the general layout I'll be going for
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/fZk88M
you really 'Need' a SSD nowadays
so I'll try to fit one in
mhm
RN I fit a 2070s and 3600 in there
but might need to downgrade a lil to a 2060s or smth
xD
so might need to downgrade one of the comps a lil to fit in an ssd
wait how much storage do you need?
How much do you use rn?
hmm
I think you could get away with a 512gb nvme ssd for now, and you can get more later on if you need to
lit
now
where to get some savings off this list to fit in enough for an ssd XD
those take like 250gb or so total
only 250?
Could I download windows on the ssd and chose a diffrent one for Apps and stuff?
siege is 70gb for sure, gta 100gb I believe, csgo closer to 10gb, ark idrk so putting 70gb
wdym?
yea if you get a different ssd you can plug it in for more storage
download windows 10 on SSD then games on the 2T thingy and apps
480gb SATA SSD is only $55
oh yea Hei look at this real quick
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/rbNWJb
that is true
Sabrent Rocket 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
but as you know I dont like TEAM products xD
thats it
512 for everything I do
Sabrent Rocket 512 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive
I'm tryna figure out how to fit in more idk tho
Some things to change
When are you buying?
I would change mobo, but one I want to pick is out of stock
Plus few other things
yea idk what to change that mobo to
I just know Naed likes that one for the sound chip
But, what is your main choice of a sound system. Headset or speakers. Whichever one, is it a 3.5mm jack or USB for input
Few other reasons, two M2 ports is what I also remember
Might have to go BC class is starting
@lofty swan do you mainly use headset or speakers? Which ever one it is, USB or 3.5mm audio jack for input?
@lofty swan id just use the stock cooler, wraith prism is very good
stock cooler?
would that be the motherboard?
Yes
I though I had a good one
@lofty swan let me just answer the SSD question: Yes. there is NO doubt at all, that you actually NEED the ssd. IF you have to sacrifice something else? you do it.
OOooo thanks
You could lower the ssd though, thats a very good one
x470 prime pro does. But you can get a cheaper board with it
the m-atx seems to be jumping in and out of stock Hei
Coool
I dont mean the capacity, I mean the quality
Yeah, little bit before I asked for date of purchasing. Not answered yet
not happening
oof
at least not if you want to be below 1000?
Whats the max budget?
You can fit a 2070S if you leave out say the 2tb HDD. Mr1 put a list out that could use some modifications for it
When is date of purchasing for this build?
dont bother then :)
come back when you are closer
2-3 weeks away at the max
not that we dont want to talk about it, but it is mostly academic at this point [edit: mostly]
out of curiosty @cursive wharf how does the GD psu stack up at that price?
yes? no ? okay?
Not that good afaik. No real testing done, but it does miss UVP I think it is. Which from my understanding is a bit more important then say missing OTP and actually is truly useful
