we are talking heavy based games such as rdr2, starfield, kc22 etc
Starfield 💀
like 1440p High or Medium? 😦
Have 3070 but use igpu? 🤨
no gpu can really run starfield well
only game i could think of mane
rdr2 aint that hard to run
damn lol
The only game I use the dgpu on is Minecraft
The other games
Well
War thunder runs on the igpu
1440p Max settings cant it get like 60-70fps on the 7090
9070*
7090
Victoria II hammers the hell out of my cpu but doesn't touch the gpu
hmmm
I use my dgpu in ONE game
whats cache in ssd's?
no dram cache, HMB
If you're just gaming it doesn't really matter nowadays
bet
HMB is generally good enough
DRAM cache is more useful if you're hammering the ssd constantly
such as using it as a premiere pro scratch disk
is Crucial a good SSD for the value
crucial makes a lot of ssds
P3 plus to be exact
I mean
is it a bad value ssd?
no
there are just better priced ssds
the c910 is $89.99
nothing can beat that
Kingston I believe is better priced? righ
eh
don't get kekston
they're generally very mediocre
I'd take the UD90 over that
hmmm
oh the C910 is the second cheapest ssd
💀
wtf
yeah I'd just go for the c910
there really isn't anything better priced
makes sense

I wouldn't buy anything based on brand alone
just some general advice
I've seen brands make a good product
and then succeed it with absolute trash
such as the samsung 980
yea thats what i was skeptical about lol.
when the 970 dropped it was amazing apparently which i guess is what gave them that repuation
the 970 is amazing
I have a 970 evo plus
Samsung were known for their reliability back then
nowadays I'd argue the Pro ssds are still pretty good in that regard
for their consumer ssds
well there's the MP44
yea ive seen reviews and it seems like they always reflect on the old reliability of them
Samsung is a mixed bag these days
they have some good products
but they also have some really mediocre ones too
Its depending on that $$$ to reliability for them it feels like now
They still have their niche
for prosumer uses the pro ssds are pretty good
but for most people
"good enough" is usually good enough
hence the cheaper ssds are generally more popular among general consumers nowadays
half the time people get overkill items for mediocre things just because of the brand
like when i first started researching i wanted to get a 9060 XT 16GB only for 1080p Medium and someone told me that it would be overkill
it's actually worse
I've seen people overspend the hell out of their pcs
only to perform worse than a cheaper rig
One more thing
with the current parts list
the reason why i aint go that prebuilt route was due to me realising i can save 500-600$
you should be fine to go up to a 9800X3D several years down the line
the motherboard vrms and cpu cooler should be able to handle a X3D
hmm bet
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9070 XT, SAMA 3509 ATX Mid Tower
this one correct?
yeah
You can change the case around if you want to spend a bit more
for a better looking case
or an AIO
whats an AIO?
But those are more aesthetics changes rather than performance changes
all-in-one liquid cooler
ahh
ay tho thanks for ur help mane
rommy sold me 970 evo plus :3
wsp
The P41 is 119 on wegg
I was comparing to the SN580
honestly WD is pretty mediocre these days
not really competitively priced
The Spatium M461 is 99.99
dram?
No, but it is one of the faster dramless ones
Not really, but options I guess
true
the M461 is a pretty solid ssd
just costs $10 more than the C910 is the unfortunate part
it's good value
honestly it's up to him tbh
it's not a massive price jump
$10 for a faster ssd seems reasonable
1
2 would've been awesome but 1 is decent
I still need to clone it to my new 2tb drive
and use it as a second drive later :3
Never enough storage
Data hoarding good
Spend half of your budget when building PC on storage, no regrets ever frfr
I should really fix my nas situation
I'm joking but I've spent way too much on storage
nas situation
my nas situaton
my current nas runs on a 32 bit cpu
so every time there's I/O operations
the cpu bottlenecks the hell out of the transfer speeds
THE CPU
BOTTLENECKS I/O
I'm upgrading to Skylake ao
Massive jump
Thoughts? $1535 for a 7800x3D + 7900XT Storm Trooper build with a board and PSU that leaves room for upgrading to a 9950x3D + 5090 combo.
https://pcpartpicker.com/user/ApexGenesis/saved/#view=GZN8jX
Saved Part Lists
SSD kinda overpriced
Wanted to give the system a quality drive. Can always add more later.
Eh
Quality in what exactly
If it's a gaming only build I'd just get a 2TB for the same price
Samsung's consumer drives are pretty mediocre
For how much they cost
Gaming and light rendering type tasks.
But I get what you mean. I just personally don't shop for slow drives having constantly regretted buying the slower ones just to save a buck or two.
Yep
Well here's the thing
That samsung's not even that good
is samsug therefore must be good
My personal preference is SN850X but that's $90
990 Evo Plus
Not the 990 Evo
oh ok
faster and cheaper
QLC tho
I'm going to find a TLC one
MP44 is $69
and
if you actually want to pay a bit more
The Crucial T500 is $75.19 and has dram
vs the $74.98 of the samsung
If you want a better overall ssd rather than saving money
I'd go for the T500
Hmm alright.
I say that but it's a $1 price difference
so
it's just better really
$1 for dram
not even actually
21 cents
Gotcha
I will keep that in mind and change the listed ssd
Other than the SSD, thoughts?
Parts are pretty optimized
considering white aesthetic
Personally don't trust the NZXT case
but it's one of their better airflow ones
so I'd say everything else is fine
It's really just the SSD
the X670 is cheaper than the B650 I usually put in lists so
Pretty well priced list
Excellent.
Not a premium, the price is ridiculous
Yo chat
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Fb4rsp I think this building is perfect for what I want, I Js need a CPU cooler recommendation and how does an AIO work??
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, GeForce RTX 5070, Corsair 3500X ARGB ATX Mid Tower
My friend my bad
?
This is my friends build lmao
yeah but
look at the two lists
they're around the same price
and the other one is clearly better
They're both similar budget lists so I'd just go with that list for this scenario as well
This list pretty much has the same issues as your first list
just slightly cheaper cpu and cooler
Fixes are generally around the same
Hmm alr bet
unless you have a lower budget
for this list
I could try to reduce the prices for a weaker gpu
if the budget is significantly lower
Send me that build
What is the budget?
the build with a weaker gpu?
The 1500$ one u showed me
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9070 XT, SAMA 3509 ATX Mid Tower
It's pretty much $10 more
for a much faster gpu
Wouldn't the list I made be faster?
I am confused. This list performs worse in every department compared to the one I sent you.
Regarding AIOs, you mount the radiator which has the fans on, mount the cooler to the CPU like you would with a Air Cooler then just plug the fan cables in.
The storm trooper list.
Its js a friend sending me stuff and telling me to ask random discords. I dont mean to be rude
Oh okay.
Could you please provide a link?
That could be a decent alternative
Saved Part Lists
$1537 for a 7800x3D+7900XT with plenty of room to upgrade down the line by sporting a quality board and PSU.
We put a 9070XT in there
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Radeon RX 9070 XT, SAMA 3509 ATX Mid Tower
for most gaming loads this would be faster
Gotcha. It's okay overall. Nothing really stands out except for the overpriced RAM and PSU.
in the other list?
I wouldn't be so generous
the price/perf is pretty uh
💀
lots of money going into nothing
Lmao I don't see any deal in that list of that's the question.
considering that both our lists are around the same price with significant improvements either in the cpu or gpu department
compared to the original list
I did keep the 7800X3D in there originally
but someone pointed out that the 9070XT wasn't that expensive
when combined with a 9600X
actually I think I was working off your list actually
Fair. In my case the 7800x3D was top priority first for the high 1% lows and reduced stuttering. Then I searched the web for like an hour straight finding the best GPU I could within $650.
I usually go for the gpu
The price difference between the 9600X and the X3D is pretty high so
Then again I also assume that games don't run like total dogcrap like they do in 2025
If only Devs still truly optimized games like they used to.
We would be able to get away with cheaper cpus AND gpus
Nowadays because of high end hardware they opt for speed vs quality.
And well we've been seeing the results.
My games run on my igpu
The reason is that the games that do need my dgpu are trash
I play mostly Marvel Rivals and Minecraft.
I do use my dgpu for minecraft
that's the only game
I'm not really drawn to the AAA slop that studios like to put out nowadays
I find that indie games are better in the quality department these days
Minecraft interestingly, if Vanilla prefers high frequency but if heavily modded much prefers the extra V-Cache.
which does lead to me not leading any sort of upgrade except maybe ram and storage but for non gaming use cases
single threaded game
minecraft benefits a lot from cpu advantages
I have been using mods to render chunks with extra threads but yeah all the entities are still being handled on one.
that's why I usually prioritise single core perf in most of my parts list
Iirc Minecraft 1.18 and newer separates sounds onto a separate thread.
Most games still can't really take advantage of raw core counts
I wish Ryzen 5 X3D is cheaper
Imagine a $200 X3D
or even $230
I am hesitant to recommend parts that are no longer receiving an upgrade path unless someone is on a really tight budget.
I found a 7800x3D for $280 the other day. Sold out within an hour.
damn
5700X3D is only good on existing systems imo
like X3D is nice
but compared to going DDR5 on a 7600
meh
Correcto.
It's good for exactly one scenario
Btw is a 7600x for $137 good?
9600x is $174.99 rn so
wait what
how does that happen
I've seen European and Jewish
but Chinese and Jewish I've never seen
What part of China may I ask as well?
Jewish father meets a Chinese girl. Granted I am a convert because to be born a Jew, the mother needs to be Jewish.
ah I see
American born abroad in ShangHai China, spent most of my time down in Hainan, China and spent a couple years in other provinces then moved to the US during COVID due to Visa expiring, and for the last 4 years I have been wandering from Mexico, California, and Alaska. Recently settled long term into Alaska for the next year.
Hm
How many languages can you speak
Those are two quite distinct regions of China
Mandarin and English. I can get by in Mexico with my Spanish but it's not conversational level neither is my Hebrew.
Oh cool.
You can probably guess where I'm from by the languages
Where are you from if you don't mind me asking.
I was going to guess San Francisco
haha yeah
Lots of Cantonese speaking migrants around that area
Cantonese is kinda the default stereotypical asian accent
Which is funny because it sounds a lot different from current official language of China
I find Cantonese interesting in that I can usually hold a conversation with someone while I am speaking Mandarin but some words do take a few tries to convey.
It's got similar tones to SEA languages
Cantonese is much more Songy in my opinion compared to Mandarin which is extremely monotone.
A Vietnamese speaker would be confused if they're listening in from a distance
Cantonese is probably closer in tonation to older Chinese compared to Mandarin iirc
Off topic but I noticed you play Minecraft. Do you play Java edition?
yes
Neat. Want to hang out sometime?
I am usually on in my evening hours.
I am typically available between 8PM-2AM my time.
Been a minute but yeah. I used to play Bedwars and Skywars very competitively.
It's been pff
half a decade
since I've seriously played
whole different era of minecraft back then
before Dream
Is it just me or is the multiplayer minecraft minigame scene less active than it used to be
I remember minigames being the focus of multiplayer mc back in the era I was most active in
Yeah it's dropped off a lot since the Combat update.
And then further reduced when Minecraft shifted its focus to adding more flora and fauna to the game.
It's also a cultural shift
I don't really see many big youtubers making hypixel videos
compared to SMPs
True, most people grow up playing Fortnite and stuff now vs creative games like Minecraft or Survival Simulators.
at least the ones that are relevant in 2025
It's interesting how that entire competitive scene of minecraft is kinda less relevant
It used to be when I was growing up that every kid and their cousins played Minecraft. Now it's Fortnite or CoD.
and minecraft content is more focused on the core gameplay
rather than the minigame servers
I miss watching videos from CarFlo, TheWaffleGalaxy, and Xylophony.
Some of the best Minecraft RP, Let's Play, and Adventure YouTubers.
oh my god
adventure maps
I bet half of the minecraft audience won't know what an adventure map is
Or DanTDM's Modplay Series.
at least in today's age
Lmao I know right.
I used to be obsessed with herobrine sighting debunking videos
they're kinda like a parody of bigfoot debunking
it's a niche genre
Fair.
Minecraft used to be so different
For me my favorites were CarFlo's Minecraft Highschool series, Xtlophony's Adventure series, TheWaffleGalaxy's Let's Play Series, and TheAtlanticCraft's Challenge videos.
You remember My Girlfriend Is A Creeper?
uh no
Cupa the Creeper?
nope
Damn.
guess I wasn't around that part of the mc scene
fun fact I actually learnt to speak English from minecraft
CarFlo used to make a lot of Romance Roleplay series.
Xylophony was known for his Action roleplay series
I used to watch a lot of those but for some reason all of the just escaped my head
maybe not those specific people
And TheWaffleGalaxy and AtlanticCraft for the Let's Plays.
tbh most of the stuff's escaped my brain except for stampy's let's play series
I remember I watched a lot of DanTDM
With the cat looking skin right?
but I forgot the entire plot
Stampy
yeah
I recall she used to do videos with her boyfriend a lot and their CrazyCraft series did well.
Stampy is the guy
nah
Was it Stampy & Jessica?
I think Stampy did play with his gf
well
then gf
they're married now
rare happy ending in the minecraft scene
is this the area were i can ask for advice on a build im planning this week?
Yep.
Please specify the following to make it easy to help find the parts (which I can help with in about an hour):
- Budget min-max
- Use case: just gaming or gaming + production apps in which case specify which ones
- Aesthetic preference if any
- Location: US, CA, CN, MX, EU, etc
- Do you need a monitor or peripherals as well?
awesome! so i have this bundle that i bought last year in december & has 32gb ram its a
ryzen 5 7600x ASUS B650M-A Prime AX II AMD AM5 microATX
G.Skill Flare X5 16GB (1 x 16GB) DDR5-6000
Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 EVO
Montech AIR 903 MAX Tempered Glass ATX Mid-Tower
PowerSpec 650 Watt 80 Plus Bronze ATX Semi-Modular
sk hynix 1tb ssd
basically my choice is sell this for 800$ to try getting this other bundle from micro center & the other stuff

SKU: 574863

thats the new build maybe im planning
this was gonna go for 815$
just unsure if i should actually do this new build
with that bundle
If you can sell your current rig for $800 to cover the cost then by all means go for it.
Otherwise, my recommendation is sell the CPU and maybe the RAM, get a new kit of ram and wait for the next time I post the 7800x3D at $300 or something better.
What GPU do you currently have?
i have rx 6650xt this was given to me by a friend that builds pc so my plan is use it
i forgot to add the psu... in there lol
for that new bundle build
but its now 959$
this is maybe the psu ill add with the pc ASUS ROG Strix Gold Aura Edition 750 Watt 80 Plus Gold ATX Fully Modular Power Supply
Do you know how to use pcpartpicker?
kinda
It'd be a lot easier to visualize if you make two separate lists. 1 list showing what you currently got and another list with what you would have if you got the bundle then in text write how much you the bundle costs
actually your right cause ngl writting it all takes longer lol....
my other choice just get a ryzen 7 7700x build or do the ryzen 7 7800x3d bundles
actually i maybe be able to do that build tbh cause i also was gonna sell my dslr camera since its old anyways
but also thinking if i should first check out fb marketplace
Check your locally market and before purchasing check here as we usually post good deals in #tech-deals, usually with a little bit of work and using refurbish parts you can get better specs while coming out spending less compared to the bundles.
true your right also i think if i sell my case, ram, cpu, mobo & my camera i can maybe buy the stuff cheaper since more discounts than the bundles
cause rn i seen my receipt & well i paid 626$
for everything of pc parts bundle
for example I did this combo as a counter to a bundle someone found the other day.
#tech-deals message
how long does delivery usually take?
Depends on your location.
im in chicago so?
Hmm maybe a week or less?
Most tech parts through Amazon and Newegg come out of either California or Ohio.
ohh okay
also so would you say i should sell the pc parts i have rn for at least 500$?
since in subtotal came up to 570$
for my parts
or at least 475?
$475 is more realistic, could probably sell it for $500 if you pitch the sale well enough.
true cause honestly the case costed me 74$ & the psu & cpu cooler was both 60$ & two ddr5 rams of the same speed were 50$
the mobo was 119$ & the cpu was 129$
also should i avoid lowball offers?
Depends. Personally since the setup is used I wouldn't pay more than $350 for the whole thing.
High price = 450+
Fair Price = 400
Good Price = 350-375
From a buyer's stand point.
honestly might just sell as entire pc
with gpu & both ssds
cause if i sell my camera & this 60inch tv that i dont even use lol
i would have 1490$
If you come back here with that budget we can get you a pretty good build.
I made a 7800x3D+7900XT Storm Trooper theme build for a fellah earlier at $1537
true lol cause honestly my listing for entire pc was gonna be a 850$
but unsure cause i wanted to originally do 1k for this pc
that i have rn
Hmmm 1k probably wouldn't happen at least not quickly.
would 950? be kinda faster to get or stick with 850$
850 is the fair price I'd say.
i was thinking doing this mobo ASUS B650-A ROG Strix Gaming WiFi
Anything higher would be in favor of you vs the buyer making anyone who knows what they are looking at probably avoid it or lowball you down to 650.
i had people lowball me to 500$ lol
As mentioned, not including your gpu the whole system is worth about $350-400.
so that's not far off from the actual value.
Used parts, always slash the value in half and for each generation old it is usually count on further reducing the value.
if i tell micro center employee the prices would they be forced to pricematch stuff?
No clue.
If they do Price Matching, make sure to bring receipts if your idea is to trade the parts in.
ohh ikd if i can do trades with them since my parts dont have warranty at all
Oh I forgot.
@amber stone, check Newegg they have a trade in program. that's a easy way to get a an idea of what the fair value of each individual part is.
alright ill try rn
with it what you can do is see if you can sell the whole pc locally at a higher price and if not, send the parts in for Trade In and Newegg will give you a Credit balance to buy whatever with.
Note, depending on the condition of the part the credit balance granted for each part can be lower or higher.
question do you think i need 60$ cpu cooler? if i do sell my pc & etc
for what cpu?
ryzen 7 7800x3d
Not needed, but recommended.
gonna make a list of the parts i am doing rn
You can grab a Thermalright 360mm Frozen Edge AIO for $55.
thoughts?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7700 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
plus for that ssd its 119$ on newegg it says
It's okay. If you can wait, I can whip up a much better list when I am awake later.
In the meantime, within your budget area is a highly optimized build I made earlier.
sure dw honestly i have none else to do tbh rn just watching yt
Saved Part Lists
issue with that i dont think i can get the other 100+ for this build...
Hi im heading off to school in the fall and im trying to get a laptop and bring a small pc instead of my current full atx
Any suggestions for a laptop for a cs major who wants to game? I was looking at the zephyrus due to the nice oled screen but im worried about the 16gb of ram
ngl, a macbook
thats what i was looking into but my only worries are game and application compatibility
maybe i can use parallels but i heard its not smooth enough for fps gaming yet
I’ve been looking at b850 mobos for my new build, im going to put a 9800x3d+9070 xt into it, I was planning in using the asus tuf b850 but i just watched a review that said the msi mag tomahawk b850 is a better choice, should I get the tomahawk instead?

would love to hear from anyone, this is going to be my 1st build so I wanna see if I can make it better and keep it within budget
Has anyone encountered the BSOD loop because of Riot Games's Vanguard?
I was just wondering if there were any fixes. I'm already asking support but if there isn't I'm also fine with just not playing it lol
You can reuse your SSD and Cooler.
I haven't been in the laptop scene for a while but my recommendation would be get a Laptop with the specs you need for travel and setup a M-ATX system for gaming.
That or look into a laptop with good specs and you can upgrade the RAM capacity yourself later on.
We should put in the channel description that people should use pcpartpicker lists

@crimson zinc I recommend pinning this to make it easier for new people to express what they want and to make it a lot easier for us system builders to recommend the appropriate parts.
Good idea.
hey, i have a 3060 b650-e wifi 7800x3d nzxt h6 case and kraken plus 360 liquid cooler, a 750 watt power supply and also 32gigs of ddr5 im wondering how to assemble all of this

how would i know how to do this if i dont have the exact parts?
The mounting positions should be fairly standard
would i be better off just going to micro center and paying the 350
so expensive tho
There will be some variance but its all the same thing, just slightly different
For example you have to get the amd mounting for your aio just like the air cooler
Just what is on top of the cpu is different but the mounting is the same
there are also many videos that tell you how to mount an AIO
To make it easier to align, I like to angle the bottom of the cooler so one screw hole is already touching, and its almost already aligned
This is easy to do with an aio because it is small and easy to align
Graphics card installation is universal
Universal*
You just plug it in the top slot and plug in the psu cable that is labeled gpu or vga
Caution is needed for 12vhpwr
and a gpu support bracket is heavily recommended for a heavy gpu (6900XT, 4090)
Cpu cable can be labelled cpu or eps and the connector for that is in the top left of the board
This goes for basically any board you buy
Is it worth it getting a brand new case? I have one but its from a prebuilt from like 2018, I’d like to save the $100 or so.
https://www.newegg.com/cyberpowerpc-atx-mid-tower-computer-case-satin-black-p400/p/N82E16811583018
Thats what it looks like
Thing is idk if airflow would be an issue for the case since theres no open space for the air to come through besides a gap in the top and bottom of the front panel
Yeah, that case is baaaad.
Go for a refurbished case if you’re trying to save some money.
ehhhh
depends on what he has in there
airflow is atrocious but if all he's running is an i3 and say a gtx 1050
it won't matter
that's a "quad" core innit?
i dont even know tbh
I could also just take the front panel off
igpu system would be ideal
ive already got the 9070 xt with me
so might as well find a budget case that can fit the 9070 and the cpu cooler
hard limit $120 but id like to keep it under $100 for a case
oh
that's a massive budget
really?
Just the gpu as of now
i would like to shave some money off

I'd recommend going for a 7800X3D instead
better performance/$ overall
9800X3D is pretty overpriced at the moment
any preferences to case styles?
fish tank?
nah its gonna be on the left side anyways
dont have the space on the right unfortunately
the fish tank is cheaper surprisingly enough
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
$1662.43
massive cost reduction
You do lose a bit of performance from the cpu
but for saving $100
appreciate it
You can still go for the 9800X3D if you do want to spend that extra $100
It should still be a net saving
but I'd recommend the 7800X3D
the total $200 saved should be a nice future cpu upgrade
yeah ive honestly noticed every $20 counts towards budget its crazy how expesive builds can get if you just go "oh its only an extra $20 or so"
The 9800X3D is nice but at the same time
hurts the wallet 😭
You don't gain much performance for spending the extra $100 so
the 7800X3D is definitely the better buy here
alright I appreciate it thanks for the help
np
@plain cobalt nice build. We both have the LT720 AIO.
I use temp limit profile at 85c with 30c-ish ambient
Not bad, I will run R23 in a bit. my ambient is around 14-16c.
Also running a 9950x3D at 1.205v SOC and around -20 CO on CCD0 with +200 override.
LT720 for me is setup in push/pull and using PTM7950 for the cpu
Lord I’m boutta buss
It looks sick
Anyone know a good 240mm aio for this case?
something simple like
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0C7Q1VX4L
Heck yeah thank you :)
Need advice on a solidworks laptop for a college student, not sure if anyone could help?
What's your budget and what are you looking to do with it?
they are a college student going for engineering, all i know is they need it to run solidworks
which basically leaves me not knowing what to offer because all the stuff that comes up is like mobile workstation laptops
i was told no budget but also dont want to spend alot which is my annoyance
From what I can tell, solidworks likes a lot of ram, and having a workstation Quadro/RTX Pro card matters for performance
Beat to ask them what their max budget is then and we can work off of that
The maximum they are willing to spend.
Prices all look pretty wack, this is refurb and not great but the only thing that looks somewhat reasonably priced lol
https://www.newegg.com/lenovo-15-6-full-hd-non-touch-screen-nvidia-quadro-rtx-4000-32gb-memory-256-gb-nvme-ssd-black/p/1TS-000E-1CXR1
Beware. Case has low ceiling so you might have problem on ram clearance with a top mount aio.
You should mount your aio on front with this case
Thanks for the pointer I’ll keep that in mind 🙏
Best Prebuilt and Laptop both for a total of 1500$?
We have same coller ❤️
coller

You can get by with pretty modest specs in my experience. My 3060ti and 16gb ram has been more than enough so far in 3 years of my engineering degree
Could probably go down to a 10 series card and still be alright
this is an insane anti sag support

I used a lego rod + hole studs to hold up the ssd in my broken ass all in one pc
didn't want it wobbling so I gave it something for stability
In my pc I’m using a pencil sharpener shavings case to hold up my gpu cables

Please rate this build. No GPU build and deepcool pl750d 750w power supply
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, NZXT H6 Flow RGB ATX Mid Tower
obscenely overpriced
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 9600X, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
here's a less overpriced build
Montech is not available here
Where is "here"
India
Pcpartpicker isn't really a good tool
for India
case doesn't really matter just swap it out
with anything that has airflow
@plucky timber thoughts on the HAVN 420 PC case standard gpu configuration?
pics?
I am thinking of upgrading to that case with plans to eventually do a custom loop. Positive Pressure layout with AIO on the side.
I will find a pic 1 sec
When I was looking for a new case for my personal rig, I ordered this online... it has since become my new favorite PC case and I may have a little regret not waiting for it to arrive... Check it out on Amazon - https://amzn.to/4kE0xUW
Check out the Specs on the Viewsonic VP2788-5K Here -

Also a great video
Looks like any fish tank tbh
Thats a big fella
The video is what sold me, the attention to detail is pretty incredible.
I will be ripping those out for a side mounted Radiator/AIO.
I don't really have much thoughts on it
top/bottom/rear intakes with a side AIO till I do custom loop.
I usually go for drive bays rather than aesthetics
Ahh I am a Performance 1st then Aesthetics all the way.
Damn bruh newegg got me, thinking i was gonna get $30 off but it is a gift card they send you after you buy the product

Steve Jobs mentality, I want it to perform the best and I want it to look like an art piece.
not a cheap looking case so
The Pop XL is probably my preferred case rn
This is the reason and the only reason
They found a way to cram in 2 5.25" bays without compromising aesthetics
Whole case is made of solid anodized aluminium, bent vs stamped and all the places where screws go have a rubber ring and padding to reduce vibration/noise.
How many people even use those anymore?
I do
I think your in the minority.
5.25" is highly underrated
With the exception of my ancient hybrid Sata SSD, all my drives are NVMe now.
It's a useful way to expand front side I/O
My current config:
- 1TB NVMe (Boot/Junk)
- 1TB NVMe (Games)
- 4TB NVMe (work/data)
- 500GB Hybrid SSD (Cold Storage)
Do 5x4 NVMe drives not come in 500gb capacities?
probably not cost effective to produce I'd imagine
I want to get a really good boot drive to use for stripped down windows to do overclocking subs
Was hoping I could find a 5x4 NVMe 500GB for like $50.
where can I find the best builds?
Wdym best builds
The best
Anyone have a link to the currently best priced 5090? I hear that right now isn't exactly the best time to pick one up.
Only online wise, ignoring gift cards, https://www.newegg.com/asus-tuf-gaming-tuf-rtx5090-32g-gaming-geforce-rtx-5090-32gb-graphics-card-triple-fans/p/N82E16814126752
Microcenter may have better deals in store if you're near one
Pretty much all 5090 cards are being scalped to +2800 USD if your buying online. Physical stores might have better deals.
If you're willing to get a 5080 usually once a week or so a Refurbished 5080 shows up for $1050-1100 USD on Newegg.
missing rops:
Probably not but if true, return it
Ask in #peripherals-and-displays
nnEERRRRD! (thank you)
is it okay to keep fans full speed for the summer?
my pc heats up my room
ima just keep the fans on 100%
Like I wanna buy the best one out there.
How much money do you have and do you care about diminishing returns
someones selling this for $650, good deal? i just wanna play league and valorant
To be fair, they did it with 1990s PC cases too but nowadays good luck finding something similar to those that supports modern stuff
you mean like the case he posted or
did it come out in the 90s?
you can be the judge
doesnt look like it yeah
case does look cool, was wondering where the drive bay slots were until i realized the bottom parts came off
No
What is a good gpu right now for my friends new pc he has a 9600x budget is about 600 for the gpu
9070xt
Or if he can score a 4070 ti
9070XT would probably be better
I wish but cheapest one is over $700rn and cheapest 9070 is 650
Yeah buncha them at 550
Or should I tell bro to save for the 9070xt
Or wait for a cheaper one yeah
Is this used PC worth $11100 CAD?
I5 14400f 10 cores 16 threads
RTX 4060ti
32gb corsair ram
1tb nvme ssd
Liquid cooling
z980 motherboard
no I would pay 32 thousand
please tell me another joke
that was hilarious
whats the point of typing something like that
be quiet
yeah I wouldn't personally
Same for 9070xt
Honestly, I wouldn’t pay $1100 CAD for that
Maybe $899
The 4060ti really hurts it with the 8gb of vram
Yeah, 1100 sounds fine
Yeah thats a really good price
@dusty orbit
im picking it up tomorrow, Is there anything i should know before buying a used pc like that?
Ask the guy to test it
Rather, ask to test it
Because that is pretty cheap
Just test some games?
Yeah
make them run a benchmark of any sort if you can
Run some benchmarks
How do I do that
He said I can test it and do wtv
Some games have a benchmark option
This is a long shot but try to get cinebench on there lmfao

3dmark demo is an option
but if they have games already just see if any games they have can have a benchmark
My friend might just get the 5070
rip
Im building my first PC and I can't figure out a good motherboard for my build https://pcpartpicker.com/list/363gcx
Don't use one trust
What are you using the PC for?
I see a few places where that build can be improved for less $$$.
Also do you have any intention of overclocking the system?
budget around 2500 dollars, my goals are mostly gaming, streaming/content creation, and software development.
Not immediately as im not very experienced
Do you use any apps that benefit from Nvidia cards?
No not really
Go for it, Im seeking guidance
Black, with RGB
Thx
😀
@fringe mantle would you be fine with a Storm Trooper theme build?
Would allow me to squeeze in some better parts and get the aesthetics more consistent.
Sure
@fringe mantle do you care if the RAM has RGB?
I personally prefer recommending no RGB sticks due to the heat it produces for overclocking.
No rgb is fine
for the ram.
Now under $2500
It is now at $2475, I can lower it by another $50 or so by changing the aio. @fringe mantle
Wow! Ya change the aio
@fringe mantle do you have pets? We could do a nice Open Air case.
no pets
Are you open to the idea? Would be different and offer maximum performance due to not having to worry about airflow restrictions.
Note it will need to be cleaned more often if you have a dusty room.
Ya lets do it
Good. It also lowers the cost
Here you go, a cost effective yet stylish Storm Trooper theme PC that can handle just about anything you can throw at it (within reason).
$2424.75 for a 7800x3D + 5080 + 2x32GB setup

Saved Part Lists
@fringe mantle
Thanks bro
Happy to help.
why is that gpu so expensive wtf
please dont buy a 5080 at that price
dont get that, that 5080 is an absurd price for no reason
What is the context here
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Gc7sFZ save 800$ and get like 94% of the performance
Part List - Radeon RX 9070 XT, Thermaltake Core P3 TG Pro Snow ATX Mid Tower
Why is there 64GB of ram
idk
The 5080 is badly priced but on average it's still ~20% better than 9070xt, the 9070xt is ~85% of a 5080 on average for just 1440p gaming
Is ventus still crap
its not worth 800$ more 😭
What
2x still crap, 3x kind of acceptable
$800 more?
1400 - 720 is not 800
That's not $800
i didnt sleep last night 😦
But anyways I would add an addendum to try to hunt for near MSRP cards through either best buy or microcenter
if its gaming, get 32gb ram and the 9070xt imo
It's vague gaming and content creation
Yeah that usually says nothing really
I'd say it's fair to try to go for 5080 for a $2000+ gaming rig, but more info can help
I mean
It could be a $1500 gaming rig
If it's for a gaming only use case
It makes more sense to upgrade down the line
That's another detail for how willing they are to spend money too
True
If they want better performance, it's going to be diminishing returns, but there's no other option to get more
It's a very bad option but yeah I do agree that OP should have the option
Anyways either way it's a fair build with the little given information, it should have an addendum, but more info is needed to make better changes
It's ultimately up to them to determine if the extra performance is worth the price jump
Part List - Radeon RX 9070 XT, Montech X3 Mesh ATX Mid Tower
This is probably my take
Not a fan of white but like
Motherboard cuts the price down
Wait
Refurb in brand new
You know what
Ehhh
I'm not too comfortable with refurbs given as recs
But again that depends on OP
Personally I'd go the way of microcenter bundle for 7800x3d but yea
There might be some Newegg bundles still around for that actually
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 9070 XT, Montech X3 Mesh ATX Mid Tower
This is probably
Oh wait
Bundle?
Hmm do you mind modifying the list I just made based on that?
No idea if OP lives near a microcenter or not lol
honestly with the refurb board its not worth it
youll also get 10ns ram this way
the x670
Well here's the thing
We don't know if OP wants refurb
So I'm just making another optipn
If they do, something like this, ram is only 6000c36 and Mobo not white but microcenter lets you swap bundle parts for the cost of the difference iirc so just +$50 or so for a similar thing but all new
https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006986/amd-ryzen-7-7800x3d,-asus-b650-e-tuf-gaming,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle
You can swap the items in person when needed
I'd prefer this option for a non refurb
Wait really?
Can you swap the ram for a 6000/6400 C30/32 kit?
no
Last time I was at microcenter they told me yes
they said no to me
Not like the bundles are taped together or anything
I was at the Indianapolis microcenter
For the cost of the difference yes afaik
I may have to go check with them again or smth
I'm gonna keep being lazy and telling people to do 6000c30 for the much higher chance xmp will be stable without touching anything lol
As long as the price difference isn't much
its a few dollars at most
They should just be able to run it at 6000C30 tho right?
Yes but that takes effort
How much effort really
People don't like having something not work out of the box as advertised
It's not much effort for us but imo for people that just want to build something that works, it's a bit too much work when the cost difference is small
That's fair
more time and effort then making 2 dollars
So many people just give up and just get a refund when their ram kit won't do xmp lol
Some people you may have seen here
**Is this the best Laptop I can get for Grad School? **
-
Total Budget is $500 USD + Tax.

Doubt I'd need something more powerful; Don't think I need a dedicated GPU for Investment Banking / Private Equity / Financial Applications.
^Best for the price, that is? Any point to spending more than $500?
At a glance, don't see any better options rn, you shouldn't really need more than that for classic finance applications
Unless you're going to be doing quant stuff
There is also the option of going used
Although I'd imagine that's not that appealing
Used is definitely best in that case
Well the thing is
Used laptops has less mass appeal
Compared to used desktop parts
So it depends if OP is fine with used
Well hold on now what kind of used laptop are we thinking of here
I might be inclined
There’s a big market for used/refurbished Macs
Doesn't have to be a mac too
Macs good for Wallstreet & Bloomburg stuff? I'd be willing to relearn the ecosystem
You can get refurbished enterprise laptops
Thoughts?
Was gonna say, new costco one looking kinda nice
But also I don't know anything about Enterprise/Business laptops-- they really that different / differently powerful than the traditional understanding of "powerful'?
Enterprise laptops are good on the used market
They're cheap because organisation dump them on a larger scale
But personally I wouldn't buy one new
Ebay
alright on there now
Look for the same models as enterprise laptops
what models should i look for?
Something like "Dell Latitude"
Or other brand's equivalents
Thinkpad?
My used latitude was like
Pff
$80?
My requirements weren't exactly high
I'd say you could find something usable for $150-350
Depending on how intensive the applications are
still
I don’t think I could’ve got a 9070xt for 550 within 2 days
why are you comparing the 2
