Gen alpha tech news lol
Lmao
yo im looking to build a gaming pc, also gonna to rendering/animation viewing, is the pinned guide still relevant
Whats your budget?
Budget? Specific applications/games?
Nvidia pc incoming
hey yall, just an FYI - yall can post your build on our website, use the link here: https://www.newegg.com/tools/custom-pc-builder/showcase/featured-builds
WHAT IS HAPPENING
build the best 1200 5080 build!
flexible, but i was thinking about 1 to 2 thousand, id run things like elden ring, ark and asa, and dsas
Not possible
cod
thats the point
I’ve finished my clean install of windows, my last two questions, can I plug my old HDDS back in for extra storage without it messing my pc back up? And two, I need to activate my windows or at least my pc is asking too activate windows but I don’t have an activation key? Is there a way to bypass this since I clean installed my old windows?
Perfect 5070 candidate

Did you sign into windows settings before reinstalling
You open to a used gpu?
What point are you making here
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GeForce RTX 5070, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower

Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9700X, GeForce RTX 5070, SAMA 3509 ATX Mid Tower
The point has an angle of 2 pi radians
I believe so, I logged back into my Microsoft account.
Then logging into it again will reactivate the license
A used 3090 for the vram sounds like a good idea for you @lethal hill
@lethal hill
my knowledge is very limited, are used gpus fine to use? if the source is trustworthy
Depends on the softwares you're doing and at what level
Ofc
Yeah 100%
yes but my list is great for your needs
Just need to make sure the seller isn't crappy
April 1st Activities going on here
mid
Brother are you ok 😂
And buyer protection is good through whatever service you're using

If your workstation use isn't too heavy, a 5070 is more than fine for you
yes
You're disagreeing with yourself just checking
how is it bad
This is a tech support channel
this is a build chat channel
#general-chat would be the place for trolling
Brotha man just being difficult rn

how am i trolling
i'm trolling for giving out a list
The AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D is a new Zen 5 8-core/16-thread CPU from AMD using 2nd Generation 3D V-Cache, to provide a large 96MB of L3 cache, geared as a gaming CPU, but with improvements to base clock speed, and boost frequencies, this CPU can hold its own in productivity as well. In our video review summary, we will look at system benchmarks, mu...
Well technically true but you would need that cpu if you are gonna get a 5090 or something
Not a 5070 which is slower than a 4070s
The problem is perf/$
So for that graphics card the x3d is not needed really
yea
And for his use cases
He might benefit from a better gpu as well
Not that it's likely
To have a better value card more powerful than a 5070 that can also do productivity
Depends on what he does tho
oop
sorry
i forgot i was still in new egg
i saw a notification in dms
anyways
thanks for the helpful information
yw
No, that happens when the League Wars begin
I love ottoblob coming in and making it one sided
💀 💀
Usually in my games they only really balance things out
Almost always hard carrying the Protestant side to a bloody stalemate
I mean I usually see france + ottoblob just start swarming europe
For me France is usually on the Catholic side for some reason
Spaghetti code methinks
So it just ends up the French and the Turks beating each other's asses for like 25 years straight before everyone just agrees that this is stupid
France army morale:
Vs endless janissaries
I hate fighting France so much
I have to grind down their manpower every time
And fight defensively
discipline maxxing is the way
higher morale just means you get to kill more before the battle ends smh
I mean you can just play quantity-defensive Russia and drown them in manpower
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/KRCpNz what else can you even reduce in price for this computer
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
Case maybe? Idk
PSU can be a bit cheaper
Mmm, I think that one is the sweet spot of not going for a hotbox + aesthetic. is for a friend not for me
CPU can be a lot cheaper
7600x + mobo + ram is <400 lol
Yeah, best cpu for gaming though
like keeping what's there right now
you know like the genuine fact that you will not have to buy a cpu in a long long time
and let's say you play super competitive gaming like r6 champion
this is good right?
GPU market is the only thing killing this work honestly.
there's not much you can get the price down keeping what's there lol
Not sure if $700 is much of a deal for 9800x3d + mobo + ram
swap the PSU and save $30 and that's about it
just did
swap it out for the toughpower gf1 2024
that is still is b tier?
Cpu cooler can be cheaper
$30-35 dual tower thermalright
my perspective will always be that we are only 1 innovation away from making everything older obsolete so I wouldn't bet on anything lasting a long long time
9800x3d is cool but I don't feel comfortable spending that much when you want to save money lol
Future proofing (tech) is meh
yeah that's true for everything.
I got you, his budget sits right on 2000
I think i can reduce 50$ more
for mobo
then what's left is keyboard, mouse and monitor
I thought it's a bundle you can't change lmao
def save money on the mobo if you can
@stoic island how much is his list rn?
keyboard monitor mouse still fits
Well
That's about how much a PC of that caliber goes for
It's close to optimized without using unconventional means
oh and if they wanted to sweat 1080p240+ is under $200 too
still should fit in $2000 budget
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
imma ask him if he's going for the higher refresh rate down the line
would recommend not doing logitech keyboard and swapping out the mouse
1440p170hz miniled too. tho for 2k budget I'd personally try to fit in an oled
if their main goal is to sweat on siege, 1080p240+ is gonna serve them better than 1440p180
lowkey tho getting closer to a 1440p screen for those pixel peeks can be nice
I mean true but when I did similar price built i did go for the 1440p, although I sweat eu4 not r6
pixel density is cool and all but stretched res equalizes that advantage
lowers your effective FOV though.
not like graphics matter in eu4
yea, but stretched res helps a lot with pixel peeks
How about 1440p360?
btw which mouse + keyboard combo you suggest, i personally rock the red dragon k530 with rog strix impact III
Philips Evnia is like 570 dollars in the US and it has THE lowest input latency of any such monitors iirc
not gonna fit in budget lol
we're looking at maybe $300 with bad keeb and mouse
Getting a keychron keyboard off woot is prob best value for now, not too sure about cheaper custom keyboards rn
keychron mice are also pretty funny but mouse choice is gonna depend on grip
hmm he's a full life console player
should just give him the slowest mouse there is
uh console champ not pc champ? uhhh may not need to be as sweaty
remember is crossplay now
I brought up the same
but then he comeback
with that
only optional as console
did not know that, i personally dont sweat r6 since 2021
so i wouldn't know
I mean same but I play a bit for fun here and there
at best I'm just a mid plat player, did some scrims back in the day
same
so
mmm
just leave that mouse in there
is good
it serve me well for like 3 years
did not break
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, NZXT H6 Flow ATX Mid Tower
after tax
I miss siege
idk why but people nowadays don't use vc in siege
just not as funny anymore
no more fun screaming and fun strats
When I was playing here and there last year there was the one guy with the loud ass mic
Always that one dude on the team with the clipping mic bruh

Turn down yo gain big dog

lol
Take me back like 4 years or something
If not more
Like 6 maybe

honestly I feel like peak is right after spam leaning got changed
take me back to 2018-2019
Fr

I still remember when finka was new
Man
meh, only thing after that has been elden ring and REDM
It just aint the same no more
day 1 lion lol
Completely diff game
Hahaha the spam
although at the time we didn't even think it was that overpowered lol
jeez
remember thinking it was equivalent to intero
if everything is overpowered nothing is powerful enough
give me old jager with ACOG - although they remove that before Lion i believe
Cant even remember anymore
jager acog was before spam leaning got removed iirc
really early removal
jager and mp7
remember when they even remove acog from ash a couple years ago
I never cried about it as an IQ main
ash acog removal feels new lmao
the time when everyone wanted to be beaulo
I mean as a cc
iirc he's old pro league
opposite of beaulo
actually was shaiiko pro league before becoming a content creator
I just knew of him due to the investigations they did where they said he was cheating
don't really remember that lol
and i saw the clips of it and I was lowkey damn
yep
I just remember beaulo peeks
yea guess he was opposite of beaulo
pro league -> CC instead of CC -> pro league
I didn't pay attention to pro league for the longest time
I used too, at one point i aspired to it
but meh life ,,, truck, college, money
oh yea I remember now
I use 4 as primary gadget too lmao
I just thought it was a wacky ban but didn't think much of it
it was because of cry baby master himself pengu
when you're such a big figure and then you go your way to attack to the point
that you get someone ban
just because you're getting outskilled
I mean I think having them check moss is fair, the problem was just that they didn't really go through with double checking it
moss catches a lot wallhack users in scrims for example
like if you told me it's registering a key multiple times every 100ms that just sounds like maxing out keyboard polling rate to me
or something of that nature with how it's being registered
iirc moss only captures at a slower rate
I understand but still the massive push went from a much bigger creator at the time, which understandably his words will be taken above and higher than any other at x point like pengu was, and obviously we walk into that ground "you never know" why they didn't recheck it
but you can only assume it was due to the clear bandwagon that pengu had behind him
at the time
but again big assumption.
easier in my head to just say, I blame pengu.
I didn't care about either player at the time so I didn't have much of an opinion then or now
yeh I get u.
damn cheap sales tax
I find that expensive 😭
There’s some states in the US where there’s none
I don't know if anyone has a solution for this? I tried increasing my voltage to 1.3v and it was still struggling
Wasn’t your board blasting 1.55 or something
I don’t remember exactly
Idk maybe your chip degraded
So brutal

ikr, but I doubt it's THAT degraded
New microcode took a chunk of performance out of stock
It was never intended to run that hard to begin with so...
I agree on that but games like helldivers and minecraft were starting to be choppy after undervolting
If you can scale up on the new microcode with more voltage then keep going
Unstable is unstable
I think it was also the board overriding intel limits
That was the big thing everyone was doing back then
Cos intel encouraged it
Intel literally blamed everyone else
Then owned up to the ia vr rail and vmax
Should I just get it RMA'd then resell it for AMD 🧍♂️
Since like z270 intel has actively encouraged yeeted limits
Go back to stock on the new microcode and work up from there not down
work up as in increase voltage?
Plus new microcode wont improve anything in the sense that it runs better. What I mean is like you can update, but will still have degradation issues because it already happened. Can’t fix it
Using static voltages will cap stable frequencies lower
Yeah because its not stable
ah
Using offsets however will increase stable frequencies at higher AND lower
ASUS TUF GAMING Z690-PLUS WIFI D4 is an Intel® Z690 (LGA 1700) ATX gaming motherboard with 16 DrMOS power stages, PCIe 5.0, four M.2 slots, WiFi 6, USB 3.2 Gen 2x2 Type-C®, and Aura Sync RGB lighting.
You edit the whole voltage table instead of a straight cap
I'm going to double check but I think i'm on October
October 24 is 12b
Damn I thought they just didn’t care
what about jan?
You can read the post I made in #cpus-mobo-and-memory
There's a lot there
It's pinned
Oh ok my ass was really scrolling up for it

Yeah little goofy rn
I spent hours thinking and troubleshooting today
Like literally all day
Damn linux

Then went to the gym and came back and did more fixing

set manual core voltages to 1.30V manual/static, set P core, e core and ring bus ratio to offset by negative 1GHz or negative 10x ratio, set cpu temperature limit to 75C, and CPU power limit to: i5: 115W
should I try this out before new bios?
You could
1.3 manual on 12b is cancer btw
Unless you scale only downwards it's gonna feel unstable af
Offset on the other hand will give you the full voltage range which is safer than before and also needed for higher freq
Over like
5.3ghz you will want north of 1.3v minimum
For CS you want cpu mins high af
So you really want full voltage range not static
Try 1.35 maybe
Lol
indeed it's bedtime 😔
ARCTIC Liquid Freezer III vs thermalright warframe aio?
Depends on price and case
If the LF3 fits the case you have and it's the same price I'd take it
But if the Warframe is at all cheaper, easy buy
Warframe at the same price or less
Warframe doesn't have mobo fitment issues and performs the same or better with an lcd
Lcd does add resale
Warframe is half the price lol
Wish it was available here I'd get it in a heartbeat lol
Oh then easy Warframe 1000%
Dude you're being uploaded to china
Artic white 154, thermal warframe 81.09
I tried getting the chipotle bogo thing, edge, chrome worked fine
Opera?
Now I guess is the case I need the most help w. I'd prefer an all white one, that can fit the fat 5090 😅
Nearly crashed
Ask us again in 3 months when 5090s are a normal price again
Just for context here a $620 9070 xt is half a 5090 worth $3400
Not even remotely worth getting a 90 card rn
Valid
https://a.co/d/cayJFWA I'm liking this case, would the aio fit in this?
C5 is good
Sweet then i think I'm just gonna order that case and the aio and call it a day lol
@cyan ravine how about the Thermalright Core Vision 360 Black - LCD
How much
Pls usd
I think I'm gonna stop by mc before I order it tho and make sure the gpu will fit before I order
Uh
If it fits a 360mm aio up top then it'll fit 380mm gpus
Which covers all but like 2 gpus in existence
112
I'm more worried about width than length
About the same as LF3, though "used" (read: unopened in box, just from a third party)
Vertical mount solves all
Core vision better
Do they have pcie 5.0 extensions? I know on the hytes they're still in pcie 4.0...
Damn I wish Thermalright actually had a distribution network here
Rip i bought a 5.0 motherboard 😭
Doesn't matter just use 4.0
You won't notice literally less than 1% difference
Wait so 5.0 risers bad now?
Sponsor: Arctic Liquid Freezer III on Amazon - https://geni.us/NrMtDT
This benchmark compares PCIe generation differences on the NVIDIA RTX 5090 GPU. We're testing PCIe 5.0 x16 vs. PCIe 4.0 x16 vs. PCIe 3.0 x16. This also helps serve as an effective PCIe 5.0 x8 vs. PCIe 5.0 x16 benchmark, as PCIe 5.0 x8 is represented by PCIe 4.0 x16. The testin...
5.0 period
so uh felix what should I do in this situation if opera can't run a promotion page of chipotle but other apps can? 😭
Abandon L browser
Return to monke
Yeah I saw
Damn, it sucks that new tech is just awful lately
Like 0.7% lol
And known to cause issues when set to 5.0
Highly suggest you do not
Also I hope you didn't buy a Y70
Awful price case
It's like 700 usd for that case with fans, you'll break my heart (idrc tbh)
💔
No lmao
Ye just stick to 4.0
This is why i wanted the antec cause of price and pre installed fans
To be fair, SSUPD also has a 5.0 riser, is that also bad now?
Antec wood is based
My mb is white so were going mostly white now
kinda prefer high end
B650 has basically the same features as Z790
Godlike is like the worst choice lmfao
and im building with 5090fe and 9950x3d
just by watching videos out there not my personal opinion
how can you tell if the mb split pcie channels
????
The tldr a godlike is basically an x670 gaming x v2 for 5x the price
Wait it's THAT bad?
What is the pc being used for
The gaming x is THAT good
just gaming
I might give MSI a chance with that then
You want the 9800X3D
because my current mb split my pcie from x16 to x8 x8
Marginally better FPS from that
You also don't need this either for just gaming
9800x3d will last equally as long with half as many cores
i do have 9800x3d in my current pc
There's a lot of things you seem to worry about that's pointless to worry about
will be sold for 5100
Mhm
100%
9800x3d plus a nice b650/b850
B650m pro rs stonks
More than enough for just gaming
Or msi b650m pro-a if you're worried about asrock board issues
i will check that out
And for the love of God don't do ITX
so much more headache
They're lightweight board but more than built enough, you can use the size for a smaller form factor
also i was thinking build one of those mini itx one
E.g dan a3
Yes that's where I'm going with this
Dan a3 fits most 5090
But you need to pick the right psu
Vetroo gv1000 for 120 for example is good
Lian li edge 1000 gold is another
Yeah that works
Whichever is cheapest of those three really
So true SFX
lmao let me start a list
Not SFX-L
Edge gold is also compatible with dan a3 despite being longer but may interfere with the gpu if you don't plan correctly
Oh A3
130
Im using a 1200w nzxt atx 3.1 psu for my current 5090 build
I'm using a 230w psu for my pentium/5090 build
how is this mb
MSI MPG B650I EDGE
At $250 pretty good
is 990 pro still a go to?
How is the 9950x3d overall?
Klevv C910
The AM5 bug is starting to bite again
how is Crucial T500
Parking was fixed so it's just a slightly better 9800x3d at best
Klevv c910 meta
is this for a budget build or just in genral
Is 48gb of ram good? Why is go to between 32 or 64
It's like top performer for cheap
Do you need 64?
If not, get 32 for cheaper ngl
Like if you know you need more, might as well get more
48 is niche cuz it still costs more
I don't think so highest I've seen while gaming is hogwarts @22gb and that's with discord up
What's the performance of a 5070ti anyways?
The sticks I'm eyeing there is like a $10 difference before tax
I know but if I'll ever need it I'll have the extra i guess
I don't think i've ever exceeded 32gb
Thats why I went w 32, but they haven't shipped yet, and when I was looking on newegg vs amazon they have the same sticks, $10 more for 48 so like what's 10 bucks at that point
What about for core intensive loads?
I'd just keep the 32
Can always upgrade later
It's like a 9950X but slightly worse iirc
In general cos gaming PC's barely benefit at all from spending more on that same ssd
It's just a good gen 4
Not insanely expensive, provides 98% of all the speed benefits for even the most intensive games
It would be a bit of a different story if you were building a rendering pc that ran 24/7 for work or a server
Since it's neither of those things you won't benefit from faster, not even remotely in the way you'd think you would
Being "Up to X MB/s" doesn't mean it's twice as fast going gen 5, it doesn't work like that
Essentially equal to a 9070xt, beats it some places, gets beaten other places
Stock 5080, but yes 9070xt has major uplift from uv and oc
lmao
is there a place on here to get help upgrading my 10yr old pc?
Yeah this channel
ooh. exciting
3070 or 7600
3070 easily
6700xt or 2080 ti if either is an option
7600 is close to a 2080, 3070=2080 ti with less vram
I dont trust the klevv cras
People get the drive and it goes read only in under a year
Not worth saving $10
Depending on the drive not even $10
Is this a known issue or just a couple people you've heard?
I could only find one post about this and a video that was made by ai
And tons of other reviews speaking positively in the reflection lol
Hey, need help, so i have install windows on my new pc, but it asking me for a activatiin code.
Where the code basically?
if you have bought directly from microsoft, it'd be inside the package they gave you, if you are trying to use your microsoft acc to activate windows, there should be a input code later option somewhere, log into your microsoft account afterwards to activate. If you don't want to activate windows, just find the input code later option and don't put anything in.
Alr
Im reading back to see, so its just the new video cards over priced right now
4090 5090
Those are the most hideously priced ones but they're all inflated to some degree
https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16883360568C?Item=N82E16883360568C
I was looking at this pc and was wondering If its worth getting. If I get it can I just switch the GPU to a stronger one like a 5070 in the future? or would I need to get a new powersupply/motherboard for that.
Reasoning for buying a prebuilt is because everytime I build pcs I just get heaps of problems in the future lol.
probably can just swap the gpu yeah
I currently have a ryzen 5 3600, and a 2060 super graphics card. is it worth buying the prebuilt?
yeah prebuilts in that range will likely have a 4060 sadly
Honestly make one yourself, keep current gpu then just upgrade from your 2060
The hardest part was (for me) the list part of the pc, and there’s countless ppl that can help you with that
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, SAMA 3509 ATX Mid Tower
.
That too
Wait what
Aren’t they like 115
Welp, something is wrong with the new build and I can't figure out what it is. Time spy goes through the benchmark then about 10 seconds into the CPU portion of the test it quits the benchmark and doesn't complete.
check cpu temps
They spike to like 65-70 as soon as the benchmark starts
Is expo enabled
If so switch it to xmp
If it's on xmp, try with it off
Some memory kits are "stable enough" to pass QC but throw some real world variables at it and it's not quite there
Oh and BIOS updates often help stability
I've got the latest bios
I knew I should've just gotten the standard 6000 instead of 6400
You can usually add some voltage here and there and it works if it is a stability problem, but we'll cross that bridge when we get there
Expo disabled no change, still ends timespy at the same spot
I think steam verify game cache would do the same
good point
Surely it's not that simple but sure I'll try
probably not but it's worth ruling out
Running now after verifying, default ram settings forces my 6400 to 4800
That's fine for test purposes
As long as it's below 95 then temp isn't the issue
Does it crash or misbehave in any other test?
OCCT CPU tests and Prime95 are good for that
I just ran prime95 for about 10 minutes using the blend test and it said passed for all of them before I rebooted for something. It hit 90c but never went higher. My virtual and physical memory were at 98%
9800x3d and thermal right infinity
Yep aio
Next thing I would do is check cables for the cooler and remount the cooler
Make sure to tighten a little at a time, doing a pattern of opposite corners, so it mounts evenly
And make sure if it's separate, the pump is on a pump header if available
Fans on CPU fan header
There are only two screws, the pump pwm is on pump and the three rad fans are on the cpu header
It'll be the same thing then, just no corners. One at a time, a little at a time
almost averaged 120fps in cyberpunk with full ray tracing, no path tracing, no frame gen
going to try a dx11 test next, then try a memory specific test, then try rolling back the chipset driver as the MSI motherboard page suggests using an older version, but that may just be bad wording on their part
None of it worked, gonna try ordering a non 48gb kit and return this klevv and start over
What a disaster
Guys my gfs Gpu kept crashing whenever she would try to play games
She has a 1650 Super
I finally found the issue
Heat
It got so hot
The games would crash
And on GeForce experience the max temp was set to 83
After I repasted the Gpu it now plays games at 80c
I still turned up the max temp to 87
Cause 83 idk
Is there any other IEM recommendations other than these?
The gold fittings like slid into the connection
Yeah those are the 2 pin connectors
"are there other iem recommendations"
Yeah why wouldn't there be
Literally thousands of recommendations
Depending on your budget needs and tastes
literally just answered yourself and why I asked that
lowkey 20-80$ range
I just learned one of my Dynamic X2 GP18 fans is damaged.
How can I fix this or do I need to warranty it?
How would anybody recommend anything without knowing what sound profile you prefer and what budget (and any extra feature(s) you might want)
Anyone here have a 5090 astral that they vertically mounted?
Wondering what product you used
And what case you have^
The cooler master and phanteks ones are frequently recommended. Phanteks you can get without a riser too, so you can get your own 5.0 one.
It would still work perfectly at 4.0 otherwise
Sometimes better if you're unlucky with the motherboard

Can anyone help me with a diagnostic question? My pc has started shutting off and turning back on on it's own when playing balders gate but the weird thing is that the fans and rgn are still running. Anyone know what that might be or how I could troubleshoot it? I'm unsure if it's the psu or gpu or something
I just built my PC
computer keeps freezing
Fans keep ramping
Missing one of the sensors in the box
Fans get loud when first starting up
Cpu temp in bios 63.5
Mb temp 40
Mos temp 41
Gpu load on l connect shows it goes from 1-50 idle and 6-100 in game
anyone have any idea whats going on
What types of freezing
Needing to shut the pc off for it to resume?
And what's your pcs specs
Cpu/motherboard/ram/gpu/power supply would be helpful
X870E Nova WiFi, 9800x3d, 9070xt asrock taichi, Samsung 990 evo plus 2TB M.2, super flower 1200 leadex v11 power supply, mag coreliquid i360 liquid cooler and lian li 216 case
Update firmware on your ssd and update bios on your mobo
its more of a freeze for a couple of seconds and resumes
Samsung update magician I think is the tool for updating firmware
Asrock website will have a tutorial for bios update
yep did the motherboard already, ill check the firmware tool
I don't know what that sentence means
Expo enables the ram to run at its rated speed, it's a setting in bios
Also what ram do you have
I feel like you're going to say corsair 6000cl36 vengeance
yep
Lolol
6400
Yeah enable expo
6400 might cause issues, but if it does you can change it to 6000
Also is it 2x16?
4 sticks of ddr5 is harder to run
nah x2 32
Should be alright, but ye can just turn down to 6000 if needed
Yeah 6400 is hard to run
Not all chips can run 6400 stable I think
While maintaining the same ratio with 6000
yea my gpu keeps ramping up same with the fans its crazy even after enabling expo
Have you reinstalled your graphics drivers

DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) Guide by Pato
https://github.com/NeweggTechie/Graphics-cards/wiki/How-to-use-DDU

well I don't know what sound profile and etc I need, I just referenced the ones I had and all I know
I dropped 150$ on IEMs (another tangzu waner, castor pro, zero blue2, chu IIs) to see whats best for whatever I need, I plan on returning 3 of them anyways
though with the zero blue2s amazon doesn't have an exact time frame until may in my area, then off of hangout audio it's about 2-3 weeks with a dac
Off of the sound of the waner, do you want more or less bass? More or less treble?
Or is it adequate
Imo it lacked in bass for sure but I got past that, treble was clear enough, I don’t have the greatest opinion considering I was stuck on a mono sound gen 1 kraken
But an increase in base/treble performance I won’t mind
salnotes zero:2 and chu 2 should have a little bit higher bass, chu 2 is a bit more v shaped
blue 2 should have slightly less bass, maybe a little more treble
caster should be v shaped
at least from looking at the measurements and comparing them
I did some cope with an app that lets you eq the output audio and now the chu 2 sounds really good
On windows its fxsound on linux one is called easyeffects
did someone say linux
would anyone be able to recommend an alternative to the motherboard https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/nz8bt6. Im trying to purchase parts for a build by next week but at £98 soonest delivery date is next month and any sooner makes the cost £115 ish. im wondering if there are any alternatives that I might as well upgrade to if paying that price. For context this is the build im planning to put it in https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/list/8Pxxkf
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Radeon RX 7700 XT, Deepcool CC360 ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Do they make any cases anymore with the LCD glass panel?
Haven't for years
The snowblind afaik was the only one and it never took off cos the result wasn't great for one and the case performance itself was terrible too
Cool idea, no traction
That would explain why i haven't been able to find one lol.
You can mod a normal glass panel to have one
Very hard to do though and honestly the results are just not that great
Market is shifting to fully ventilated cases and panoramics instead rn
yea, that seems like it would be a very difficult thing to do.
I do know to a good degree how to do it
It would be better if they had cases that supported multiple glass panels
One for frosting, another for the monitor panel
Not the case tho unfortunately (pun not intended)
If you want a screen now you would be wise to get a cheap thermalright aio, the rest isn't really worth the price for the mod tricks you can do instead
Yeah, i'll have to just stick to when i build another pc, to the cpu lcd display and a small or long panel screen. Feel like there isn't a whole lot of options for case designs lately.
Go look up
Jonsbo d31 or d41
If you can still get one, they have a version with a screen on the front
They were recently discontinued so don't wait if you want something like that
It's about as close as you'll get
Question if I want to install a AM5 CPU Contact Frame which is a good brand to use?
Those things cause more problems than they fix
I would avoid it personally
They're good on lga 1700/1851 because they maintain the shape of the cpu, but am5 never needed it
You essentially trade off paste not getting down the sides of the cpu (does nothing) for any number of massive instability issues
As long as you never pick a conductive paste like arctic silver (old as hell tech) you should never be worried about it
Ok thank you for explaining
I saw that it help with temp of a PC so I thought I ask about it here
Whereas the frame will cause like, ram to go missing, gpu to not be detected, massively unstable windows and blue screens
Etc etc
Even if you do it correctly
It can ye but on AM5 it's basically no effect at all
The limit on am5 is not the way it's mounted
ill give that a shot
Ok thank you

I think it might be whats causing it
If the screen goes black and graphics card fans go wild then its gotta be that
Guys take a look at this
and let me know if it makes sense
No gpu?
no gpu
Realized moons don’t have a mic, and it’s kinda weird putting in the 2 pin cause they don’t want to go in fully?
I’ve tried pushing it but I don’t want it to snap
I thought it was like that until it fell out
most IEMs add a mic on the cable side
you could probably use the same cable you have on the waner if it has a mic, or buy a cable with a mic

well I know that, the waner's fitting doesn't fit in the moon
Oh
No, it should work, I just checked and they're both the same connector
they're both the same yes but different ways
Though the waner one is designed so that the cable can be recessed
But it's not required
the waners has a plastic piece shortening the 2 pins
while the moon has nothing surrounding it and is longer
That's the waner
this is the moon's
Oh so that's what people were mentioning
Ok then in that case the chu 2 cable can be used with the waner but not the other way around
Unfortunate
mhm, hopefully the pro's have a chu like cable
otherwise i'm just using the tangzu rn
2 pin .78mm spacing is pretty common
I think that's what the pros have, I heard/read something about that
Seems like they are one of the few that use a .75mm pin spacing
might still fit but would be a tighter fit
what's a good wifi repeater and ethernet cable for it
I'm debating on getting a 6900XT myself lol
From XFX?
Or just whatever you can find
Potentially XFX cuz they seem the cheapest
But I can get an ASRock Formula one for 3% more lol
repeaters are meh
just get another accesspoint (or some router combo units can also run in ap mode)
And IIRC the Formula OCs really well
or if your current router combo supports it, add a mesh router/ap combo unit
You reckon an A-tier 750w will be enough?
Formula are the greenish ones iirc?
Yeah one of the few guaranteed XTXH cards
Which is like
An OC short of a 6950XT (for the most part)
At least IIRC it is
Yeah I never understood what was different with the 6900s and the different boards
One of the few tangibly different variants is the XTXH core cards
Funny enough that’s what I’m tearing apart my build for rn, taking out my Corsair 750 RMe and putting in an 1000w unit from lian li
Cuz XTXH cores overclock super well
But like
It's probably still gonna be slower than a 6950XT by a couple percentage points
But it'll get close
Issues with a 750 not being enough?
I think maybe once or twice I might have had an issue with the psu tripping?? Either way I was sick of the corsair units’s coil whine and I wanted headroom and futureproofing
Ah coil whine
That's actually fair
I assume the trips happened when like fully loading down everything?
Last time it happened (I think it was PSU) I was maxed out on HD2 and my pc just shut off, no warning
No blue screen or anything just off
Always check event viewer to be sure it's not something crashing
I did and it was a kernel error
I can’t remember what it was
Iirc Felix pointed me in the direction of it being a potential psu thing
This was over a month ago so I cant really remember
So generally it SHOULD be good

I'm eyeing the Adata Core Reactor II VE 750w
how about one of those expensive wifi repeaters
Can get it for a really good price and it's known to perform
from tplink
Yeah most likely
Especially if you have a lower tdp cpu
IMO I’d recommend a 850 just because of me being anxious about stuff and just wanting peace of mind lol
Well that's a question I've been agonizing over
I can go with like
A 7800X3D
Or a 7700
7800X3D is 88 watts total power draw
But it's fairly pricey
Or I bite the bullet and go 9800X3D right off the bat
I also plan to go zen6 high end x3d in the future so that’s why I wanted the extra headroom cause who knows how much that is going to draw
My cables in the back of my dual chamber are so bad bro 😭
I should of taken the time to try and manage them before and I just never did
Lol
Sounds familiar
I'll have to remanage my own cables eventually
Probably when I upgrade
The GPU I mean cuz that's gonna be a PSU upgrade too
Anyhow
The 850 would be like
8% price diff
who is neweggservice?
That feels like a generally good idea to have when you wanna go high end GPU
is it a bot
I think it’s something automated yeah
@lone flame either way
I can go 7700 to save a bit
Or just bite the bullet and 9800X3D it right off the bat
6900 XT would probably be balanced with the 7700
While a 9070 XT would be great with the X3D
Newegg service has a human support rep last I checked
I always thought it was automated
whoops
It's a matter of saving money for longer and getting a larger jump
Versus
Just getting the framerate uplift gratification sooner at the cost of upgrading again way later
For reference the 7700+6900 XT is a little less than half that of a 9800X3D+9070 XT combo
What are you upgrading from
Tbf I wanna go with an OLED nonetheless
So it might be smart to compromise on what I can upgrade later anyway
Seems like we are on the way to that
That’s trippy I upgraded to my 6950 from a 6700 XT
I'd go to a 1440p QD-OLED
I got an OLED monitor while on a 3060ti lol
It is a very nice experience
The only real worry I have
Even if you can't drive 1440p240
Is that the 6700XT wouldn't reach 60
I was running my 6950 on a 720p smart tv for like 2 months before I got a 165hz 1440 IPS
Cuz 60 is fairly important
@stoic island would it make close to 60?
I guess at like medium-high settings, most likely
Def not ultra
6700xt is around a 3060ti, could hit 100 in most games on med settings, hits 60+ high RT off in cp2077 for example
RT on drops to like 40
That's reassuring @stoic island
Thanks for the input
I might've been worried for nothing
I'mma delay the PC upgrade part then
Well
Like a big one
I still wanna get more memory and likely a better motherboard
very cheap
You can always just try it, if it doesn't go well for you, just upgrade then
I'm gonna upgrade anyway when I have funds
I just wanna make the most out of my upgrade sequence
Try to spend the least for as big an uplift as possible
That being said
Display - CPU - GPU seems more and more enticing
I was worried I'll also need the GPU right away
But like optimizing settings is fair
Or just slap everything to medium and have a high refresh rate experience
Need to find some way of getting over 100fps on clausewits engine
CPU upgrade :3
Unironically I play a lot of EU4 and HOI4 so
That 9800X3D does sound enticing
It's pretty much THE processor to have there
If you play MP, anything within like the last 4 years is gonna do fine because there's always someone with terrible internet
That's why I love that GN includes Stellaris as a benchmark
Cuz Stellaris and HOI4 uses hardware very similar
So ye
I'm gonna get that 9800X3D eventually
Paradox still uses basically the same engine for all of them
Which is handy cuz it means that the CPU needs are very similar
Might even slap a 240 AIO on it for the drip factor
Though arguably air cooling could beat that
also we have a #networks-security-and-home-servers channel
what repeater are you talking about? repeaters in general aren't really recommended due to the added latency and occasional random issues that might appear
@stoic island I'm guessing a Phantom Spirit 120 EVO or a FROZN A620 GDL would beat a cheap 240 AIO
Even including an LF3
240 should win by a small margin still iirc
Especially the A620 cooler is priced super impressively
Like
The PS120 Evo is probably overpriced
But effectively able to cool a similar amount
But the A620 is the same price as the 240 AIO with no pump to fail
Def enough for a 9800X3D
Has to be
Ultimately the 240 AIO has the drip
But the air cooler probably has the reliability
@dusky hearth The castor pros are similar to waners, so moondrop is just on it's own
Testing with only music for now though, the Chu IIs are quieter than the Waners but the Chus 100% have a more cleaner sound, plus they're smaller and metal which I enjoy in my ears. The castor pros have the way better wire but are bigger than the waners, though it's got a both of loud sounding and clear sound like the chu's
I still have to test games and etc but I think the castors might be the winner
barely noticeable
Describe said flickering
The camera doesn't capture it in any meaningful way
So, I didn't buy windows, I downloaded it on a USB and after everything setting up, got a message on the down right of my screen saying activate windows, but I don't have a activation code...
Kind of phacing a wall
You can effectively ignore it, or you can acquire a key any way you want, or bypass it with a script
Ah.
Check the cable, check the monitor
It seems too regular to be random, most likely to be either something with the bottom half of the monitor, or something to do with the cable
Doesn't really look like driver issues but could still be possible if it persists with different cable and different monitor
My USB3 connector is blocking the mounting point for my gpu support bracket, what should I do about it when I get an actual gpu?
What's an ideal max speed for case fans?
im looking for the quietest I can get non rgb white fans that aren't dog
was thinking about Be quiet shadow wings or arctic P12 fans
Also would a 7600x need a dual tower cooler?
thermalright has been doing pretty well with fans nowadays
won't need, but considering costs, it's like $30 for single tower or $40 for decent dual tower coolers so generally you might as well
Even in a Micro ATX?
what case
Cooler Master’s Elite 301 Lite delivers high value and attention to detail, providing a cost-effective, space-saving solution for gaming and computing needs. It features a large intake grill and 120mm fan for smooth, efficient performance. The fully black coating and included PSU cover enable cle...
it'll either fit or it won't fit height wise, single or dual tower won't matter much on its own
163mm for cpu cooler, it'll fit most things
cool
pa120 for example is 155mm
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09LGY38L4
it's just a pa120 with an additional display thing plate
don't forget ram clearance
but my case is 160mm
with the fan boosted above the ram, obviously each ram heatsink is different, but mine makes it a height of 159.5mm
generally can move the fan to position it on the other side to not be above the ram
I should be fine?
https://a.co/d/6siW4yA
How is this
i dont wanna hit near the limit. also my pc is white so im trying to find white stuff
that's really good imo
