I dunno if that's the right answer for the question haha
I'll write this down.
I was going to try a memtest just to see tonight as well
I might've already said that lol
That's 23H2?
23H2
ty
Okay
I'm honestly surprised that I haven't crashed yet because I have a game running and the past 2-3 days it's been crashing by this point. Which kinda makes me hopeful that I won't have to spend money lmao.
I appreciate the advice as well, I wrote it down
If it's not clicking when it shuts off and making you flip the power switch on the back, it's probably not the PSU
Really? If it was the psu I'd have to flip the thing?
Normally yes
Wow, okay, that's good to know.
It needs to be reset if it's the protections tripping
hm
It is an older psu
The other way that it can be the PSU is really bad voltage
Maybe it's not handling modern gpu loads too well?
@mossy venture just found out the 8500g can’t support 2 slots above 5200mhz
thats insane
You can watch hwinfo voltage to be sure on that. GPU power in.
Motherboard is fine actually
If that was the case then the transients would trip OPP and it would need the reset
It’s my 8500g and ram that needs replaced
is it specifically your 8500g or the spec just doesnt support 5200mhz
The 8500g.
So in hwinfo I would look for gpu power in?
GPU rail voltages
All of these should be above 12V under load
But it’s fine for the time being
When I get extra cash I’ll replace it
Hm I don't see that at all.
The GPU sensors are pretty far down the list
7500f time?
or the 7400f just came out
Ah that's not sensors mode
How’s the 7400f compare?
the same
yeah from the reviews and such they're essentially the same cpu
prolly just a downbin
Ahhhh
honestly the 7500f and 7400f are prolly just failed 7600/xs
on the US market, itll cost more than a 7500f on aliexpress
im not sure about from ali
Ah rip
hmm
@mossy venture how much should a used 7500f, 7600, or 7400f go for?
Ok my current plan is to flush the cmos after my next crash. I really appreciate you guys for the help, more than you might expect haha
7400F is too new, there won't be many on the used market
7500F is also hard to find because it's not supposed to be in the US at all
7600 goes for about $160-180 used
They're around, but not much cheaper than the 7600
Maybe $10 cheaper
damn
How much is 7500F new including shipping to say
California
Surely on AliExpress it'd be cheaper right?
Unless tariffs are going to bump it up
like $130
not bad
That'll mostly apply to things shipped from China. If it ships from India or something it won't get the surcharge.
I see
It'd be funny to see China working out trade deals with India
For their shipping infrastructure
Nah shipping it twice is both easy to track and more expensive anyway
oh
made in india common soon?
lowkey
https://www.aliexpress.us/item/3256807467424789.html? for a budget build
$86 8400f
cheap board+16gb A die ddr
ofc 7500f+32gb if possible but for an ultra budget build and wanting upgradability i think it makes sense
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8400F, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
They also have 70$ 5600's
but obviously that's way better
But also I realized
Aliexpress is the one selling the cheapest 7500f
you can buy a b650m gaming plus wifi from the same company on ali for 113$, making cost about 400$ for the whole build
just buy a cmos battery cause of (common sense imo) shipment policies
I think this is a bit better
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Vr7MnQ/asrock-b850m-x-micro-atx-am5-motherboard-b850m-x
I could be wrong
Or there's amazon warehouse or refurb boards on other sites
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8400F, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
it is better but only 4 usb slots, 5 if counting C
@smoky nest So your in college/uni, what exactly do you plan on using the PC for? USD right?
Yeah USD. I just plan on using it for gaming really, I play games like valorant, fort, csgo, rocket league gta5
Then what are you mainly looking for within a pc? like do you want RGB, black or white (or other colored) case? How much do you plan on spending? Do you need it now or possibly later?
Also that alienware monitor you got, do you know it's model or the resolution and frame rate?
I would rather now, Ive been kind of doing nothing ever since my laptop broke december first
I have 1600$ at the moment but I didnt want to spend over 1500$ on the pc in case I need to buy extra stuff on amazon like extension chords or cables
well
I don't want to make you bankrupt
so maybe 1200-1400 will due
do you live near a local microcenter?
Yeah, I mean I get another 1400$ in 2 weeks but that is for living and food 😂
The closest one is 2 hours away
would you ever make the trip then?
if you don't have time or if it's too far then I can understand that
They have excellent deals and open box stuff at steep discounts
plus I would need to know which location
cause each store obviously has different stock
I can't wait for the santa clara location to open 😭
They said it would be open by the end of last year
also are you fine with open box/refrub? possibly aliexpress (IF we need to go cheaper)
state farm probably cancelled their insurance
I live on delray beach fl, the closest one is in Miami Fl. I just say 2 hours because im taking traffic into acc but If i go now in the ams its 1 hour lol
There's still a few insurers here, not all of them jumped ship. And if you get declined by 2 companies you can get state-backed coverage.
I dont know about ali express, I dont want anything to break on me
Yeah I could probably drive down one weekend
fwiw I buy from ali a few times a year and never had an issue
plus ali express also covers your order for 90 days and warranty afterwards I believe
they also sell the cheapest 7500f cpu which you can only really get off of ali express
but that's a just in case
In case the deals arent that good in micro?
I dont mind building and I dont think it would be that difficult but I was hoping for a prebuilt for warranty purposes in-case things break but if the building is much better value im all for ir
It
Ehh they're all retail but usually open box or close outs are good.
but place to place varies, and well locations like FL or CA might not have good deals with scalpers, deal hunters going in
well those parts also have warranty, separate warranties
This looks like a decent bundle, good mobo, 32GB https://www.microcenter.com/product/5006970/amd-ryzen-7-9700x,-gigabyte-b650-gaming-x-ax-v2,-gskill-flare-x5-series-32gb-ddr5-6000-kit,-computer-build-bundle
That does look like a good deal!
$50 off 7900 XT with any AMD processor https://www.microcenter.com/product/681803/amd-radeon-rx-7900-xt-triple-fan-20gb-gddr6-pcie-40-graphics-card
Sold out currently but still
in reality he could do smth like a 7500f, open box b650 from microcenter, then likely an 80$ 32gb ram 6000 cl30 for about 300$
Well as long as I have the best performance for 1440p under 1500$, i'll leave that to your discretion
But valorant and fortnite are also CPU intensive. I dont know much about cpu benchmarks and which are better than which
Or do they become less cpu intensive because of 1440p? I have no clue 😂
At 1440p that's less impactful
falcie is this hynix die?
The 7700X, or any AM5 processor for that matter, can push 180 fps easily
Probably hynix, SP likes to use M die
alr, or I could go for TG experts for 8$ more
@smoky nest any case recommendations you'd like to mention?
or any features you want?
do you need a small or big case cause of desk size?
My desk is 47 inches wide but mousepad is also very big hyper X
I like the pcs where you can see glass from 2 sides, the sea view ones
how long?
Here's a recommendation, feel free to grab similar priced stuff or whatever you want when you drop by microcenter https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Gt6yxg
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
like your desk length if you know
Fishtank cases, I put one on that list
They're pretty in fashion right now so I figured that was a good bet
Its black 19.7 by 47.2 inches
Oh and microcenter does price match too
Thanks for rec, appreciate it
But do the radeon gpus have issues, ive heard ppl complain about the drivers and crashes before
No more issues than Nvidia has at this point, and in fact if you play CoD games they heavily prefer AMD
Im going to send a picture of what my desk and setup look like so far in build pics
Back in the 5700 XT days yes drivers were a serious concern, but 6000 got them away from that and they've been solid since
Oh ok, great
You're green now so pics and links will work for you in all channels
Yup
Nice, that makes things easier, thanks
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7700X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
My version of falcie's list cause the 7500f build I had in mind was like 100$ cheaper
No windows purchase necessary right?
No, that's optional
Maybe there's a free student one I can get
ask your college for one
You can install without a key and use it indefinitely. A watermark might appear in the corner. There's ways to get rid of it.
They just better not remove it when I graduate lol
😭 they can't
The student keys are good for 180 days. I remember being VERY annoyed because that's not even a full semester, and we had to learn Windows 8.
Oh yeah
Same for servers, you can get a student license if you're in a server class
Nyope
I'd rather buy an OEM key than a temp license from the student store, they're about the same price
Sometimes you can get the temp license for Education Edition through your classes for free
Yeah my school provides microsoft office for free but idk about windows
Id have to look into that azure stuff, google AI said people get it for free from that lol
Just take that with a grain of salt
my pc keep crashing when trying to play marvel rivals comp :/ it crash when the game finds a match and trying to load me in
What processor? That game has proven to be a good stability test
Are you using Corsair Vengeance by any chance?
9800x3d
no
yeah but can't figure out why it crash
I was able to play it before the onlything I change was window update...
Do you have the error logs handy
Yeah let me see where the game stores them
It'll be in the game folder, in a folder called log, so for example
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Marvel Rivals\Log
While I was in practice mode
That was surprisingly unhelpful
Here I can record a video
I’m going to try to reproduce it
I would recommend disabling any overlays you have, Steam, AMD, RTSS, etc
Full computer crash then?
And then try to press the power doesn’t work got to shut off power supply, wait like 5 sec and then can turn it back on
Yeah
That would indicate hardware is unstable under normal conditions
Ah that's a strong hint that it might be power related
Try setting a power limit on your GPU to 75%
But I was able to play before with no problems
How do I do that
Either MSI afterburner if you have it or you can use the GPU software
Looks like you have a 7900 XT so that'll be the AMD adrenalin software
Performance, Tuning, set Custom and turn down the power
Hmm guess that's not helpful for reducing power then
MSI afterburner it is
4.6.6
You don't need to install RTSS with it also
oh I already did
That's just for monitoring, though it does have a fantastic performance overlay
Eh no big deal if you did
What does the power limit slider let you do now
Ok I'm starting to think Windows Update screwed up your drivers
Which would not even be the first time today
You can tell it not to install drivers, but any attempts to disable Update more permanently you'll find to be more temporary than you'd like
Yes DDU
Are you on Home or Pro Windows
Perfect, you can disable driver updates through gpedit
No it's a Microsoft issue
They think they know best when it comes to drivers so they'll override AMD ones specifically when the mood strikes them
It's also a real issue with onboard audio drivers
For the Windows Update setting,
Press win+R
enter gpedit.msc
Under "computer configuration", administrative templates, Windows components, Windows Update.
Manage updates offered from Windows Update.
Double click "do not include drivers with Windows updates" and enable it.
Hit OK and close. It won't offer you driver updates any more. Not even if you ask it to.
🤞
It shouldn't now
And it crash
Whole computer again
Yeah
What power supply is it
Should be good in theory
Back to the power limiting theory then
See if afterburner looks any different
If not set power to -15%, apply, and try again
Is the right GPU selected
Well it's something at least
Maybe it'll tame that spike when loading enough to let you finish loading
I was allowed to to load the game before
But like 6mins in it fully crash
Anyways I did -10
Trying it again
Ok I’m in
If this ends up working and it's fully stable then the cause was GPU power spikes not playing nice with your PSU. You've got a few options in that case:
RMA the PSU. It shouldn't be doing this.
Flash the GPU with a different VBIOS that hopefully fixes the spikes.
Ignore the issue mostly and just set the power limit down when you play this game.
This game really is just a big stability test after all
oki
I mean 5mins in its looks good
im going to try to now not limit it
and see if that works
wtf
with no power limit it works now
im confused
Probably a VBIOS issue in that case
That's normal
That means a VBIOS flash might help if the issue comes back
ok
Oh it just happened again, but this time I was in a game and I tab out to load amazon prime and it fully crashed
Well how do I install vbios flash
I fix it by just uninstall window updates
For your GPU?
You shouldn't need to do that on a radeon card unless you have a corrupted one
yeah but I kept on crashing on marvel rivals
What kind of crashing
Rivals has been a clustertruck of problems lmao
it was prob a window update that force it, it seems good now
What was that click sound
I hear a click when the screen goes off
Was that alt-tab?
no
I didn;t click anything
it was prob sending some type of data or something to shut the pc down
wait no
it could be the fans

Where'd the sound come from you think
9800x3d
Are those the original cables or extensions
extensions
replacements?
Ok extensions
Quick test for me lad
You'll probably find this annoying
Take the extensions out, try game for a while like that
PSU trips can be associated like this to too much power droop
And extensions are commonly associated with this
Especially older ones
Bad psu cables in general
The snoot droop
thats annoying but its fine
If you can stop the crashing by removing the extensions, or even swapping the current cables
Then yeah it's the cables
How'd you do that
Keep an eye on it for now
but I remeber before I shut down my pc it wanted me to update so I did
I guess we bank that idea then until it happens again
and had problem
Fair enough
That's a valid way of finding a problem
If it does happen again tho, try my suggestion

oki
Finished building my pc but it keeps randomly turning off after I start it up and also whenever I try to plug in the pcle cords it randomly shuts off, any idea why?
What power supply, and why aren't the pcie power cables plugged in at all times?
From what it sounds like you turned the pc on and then tried connecting pcie cables?
No, so I plugged in the pcie cables and then my pc wouldn’t turn on at all but then when I unplugged them and tried to turn it on it turned on like nothing happened (Allthough it would randomly shut off)
The psu is a MAG A750GL PCIE5
Sounds like the cables or gpu weren't plugged in all the way
What cpu do you have? If it has an igpu, try connecting your display cable to the motherboard instead of the gpu
I don’t know about the cpu but should I go through and just re plug everything in ?
Whats up guys
USA
$800
All Black with yellow wires
Must run Almost Human
Parts list?
About 800
Alr
If I am guessing correct
7500F off cz store aliexpress
$16 thermalright cooler
$130 am5 motherboard, pro rs, lightning wifi, pro b650m-a, hdv m.2, one of those
$80 silicon power 32gb 6000 CL30 kit
Klevv c910 gen 4 m.2 1tb
Cheapest 7700XT that fits
If not 6750XT/6700XT for <$330
Sama argb-q5 for sub $60
Then a decent psu
AliExpress safe🗣️⁉️
A750GL?
From specific articles yes
Ones we have confirmation of
Sz cpu store is one of those, safe seller
Damn I was close
@restive halo can you stretch $50
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
Man I was like, just shy on everything I said lol
I might be able to polish the above list lets see
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, GameMax M60 MicroATX Mid Tower
Closest I can get
Wouldn't stop at $800 when this is close
It's a hot box but it'll work honestly well with those parts
3 fan gpu and a reasonable cooler on the cpu
If you can bump up to this it's worth
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/vXGRFZ
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
Or ideally above with everything else tacked on*
$800 seems to be a weird stopping point rn, below this you'd drop to about $760-ish with AM4, not terrible but definitely a good chunk of lost fps to stay under budget (16-ish % for what's otherwise a few % over budget for AM5?)
I'd push over a little to fit AM5 here
Could also consider the B580/B570 if you only play triple A titles which are widely supported and you find them near msrp
That would also get it under budget
I caution that though if the person using the PC isn't very smart with PC's
Battlemage cards are kinda, flakey with drivers still imo
Example of what that^ looks like:
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/T2GRFZ
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Arc B580, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
Very usable in AAA
Games not on Intel's radar though...oof
Or I guess for better word not mainstream?
8400f on aliexpress would work to fit a 6700xt/6750xt, but ima defer to you if thats a good idea or not felix
Isn't 8400F a sliced up APU
Those have halved caches
I mean unless it's like significantly cheaper I'd be erring against it
Yeah it's a sliced up APU
Half L3 cache
So basically like a 5700X/5800X
I mean not terrible
Valid suggestion tbh
i suggested it the other day with a cheap am5 board and 16gb A die ddr5
It just also sorta defeats the point in a way cos used AM4 could really invalidate it
add another stick, upgrade cpu, great build
Fair
I'm in two minds about it
You get a lot for $40 yk
That same 16%-ish boost for 5% budget
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 8400F
yeah my thinking is youre prob going to be gpu limited anyways, but it's a grey area
also the m-x is an avoid if possible
6+1+1 vrms
fine for a 7600 ofc
but id rather a lightning at $120
1 vs 2 on vsoc rail doesn't do anything really
hm
I put a little to much thermal paste on my cpu so there’s a little coming out the side is that fine?
paste = fine
liquid metal = not fine
well, most pastes are fine
conductive pastes are rare nowadays though
On my first boot everything but the case fans worked
THABKS
Do you have them plugged in?
Do you run a fan splitter board or it's just straight to motherboard?
Yes they are
Is there any splitter board or box?
It might need SATA power to function properly
Mine does
Is that the little motherboard on the back of the case?
Probably so, but if you can snap a pic for me I can tell you more
What case do you have?
Yeppers, that's the one
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 7600, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
Is that the issue?
Look for SYS_FAN headers or similar
That's sata data
That's data
You want the long, thin connector
Comes off of the power supply
Power is a bit bigger, still has a little L shape to it
The fan controller uses SATA power right?
The “power cord” to the case fans is an rgb cord
I don't know that particular case but generally they run off of SATA power
Yep, board isn't receiving power more than likely
Okay go look at your PSU for me real quick
Try to find a port that has SATA near it
So the board on the back of the case needs power
Yep
Check the bottom edge of the board and see if there's a SATA power connector
That's what the SATA power coming from the PSU is
Yea
I don’t know what the sata looks like
But if I can find it
Where do I put it
^
It’s that?
^
The board on the back of the case or mobo?
The SATA power cable should be in your PSU box
Back of case
Grab that
If it's non modular it'll already be coming out of the psu
You don't have any SATA drive so you don't have it connected yet
Semi modular
The power supply wasn’t plugged into the back board
It's a non modular PSU, it's probably a cable coming out of the big blob out the back of the PSU
Ah
Best I can tell it's semi modular
I’m trying somthing
Plug it in then
I think your PSU is semi modular
Non mod
Same 🥲
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 7600, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
The kyber from what I can tell is not modular
Alr
But yes find a connector labeled SATA Power
And plug that into the PWR slot of the little board on the back of the case
I’ll do that if this doesn’t work
- Find this connector. Should already be coming out of the PSU.
- plug into small board on back of case
If you plugged everything else in correctly, giving power to the little board will make your fans work
Alright let's see if they work now
They should start spinning and light up immediately if they do
There you go
Tysm
:)
@weary galleon @stoic island thanks for backing me up broskis
Massive W
Now you can use motherboard software to control the lighting and BIOS to set a fan curve
So I can make the color of the case fans what ever? On the case I can make it what ever color
Thank you!!😊
Once I get back I’m gonna transfer windows and bios
Yeah that's the appeal in RGB
Sure thing, enjoy your new rig
Ty
Np
So I’m having a wonderful day. I was trying to unplug what I think is USB 3.0 from the board and this happened
Part of the plug stayed in the socket and is still stuck
Is there any saving it?
you might be able to just plug it back in. Not sure though
Those are notorious for being impossible to get out
usb 3 strikes again
I’ve damaged the plastic piece a little trying to get it out
yeah....
unfortunately usb 3 internal headers just suck
i always rant about this lmao
I was under the impression that non-destructive disassembly of a PC was a given. This is my first time experiencing this
pretty much the only part on the pc that can break even if you're careful is the usb 3 internal header
nothing else comes close
This is my first build where I’ve encountered this because my previous case only had 2.0
I’m more than a little angry to be honest
Are case or board manufacturers likely to help you out? At least send a replacement case I/O assembly or something?
you probably can remove the blue plastic with some time and effort without damaging it, though the cable may need to be replaced; i'm unsure if the case manufacturer would send you a replacement though
especially if it's out of warranty
I purchased it in December of last year.
ah, so just a month ago basically
Completion of the build has been slow going due to having to wait on parts I forgot or didn't anticipate.
they might, you should ask them for an RMA
The issue is it isn't really the case nor motherboard manufacturers fault. The spec of the usb3.2 header and cable just sucks
if they don't you might be able to bring it to a electronics repair shop (that can do this type of soldering) to replace the connector, though it probably wont be worth it
it does technically count as a manufacturing defect, and since it fell out on the case side, it would be a case RMA
worth a shot for sure.
I'd sooner do that myself with zero soldier experience.
i've seen some cases where the plastic or pins rip out of the mobo side (though this is more likely to user error from wiggling the connector too hard and snapping it off the board) but that would technically be more on the mobo manu fault
I'm working on getting the plastic out then will figure out what to do next.
This build is supposed to be a surprise present for my sister and I'm more than a little irked by the setback.
This is the case
And this is the board
In case those two facts are relevant.
damn that's a cheap case lmao
still try to get an rma from the case manufacter first, though considering the price of the case, they might deny it
It's still a manufacturer defect as far as I am concerned.
I’m building a pc for a friend atm
And his motherboard didn’t come with screws
So I look at the case contents, doesn’t say but I can’t tell which screw is which
Big ones could be for the case
My pc crash again @cyan ravine :/ time to remove the extension cable
Why’s my Wi-Fi 5mobo only saying during a speed test it’s 20 megabits per second download
Sounds like you didn't install the antennas
It didn’t come with antenas
Unfurl 2 paperclips and put it in the antenna connectors, that should be able to give you a little bit more bandwidth
How much. More
But you should find where the antennas are or buy some in order to be able to use the wifi
Ok
A noticable increase, though nowhere near perfect
@cyan ravine@mossy ventureSorry guys I just got home from work
You might want to check with the manufacturer. There’s a possibility your MOBO shipped without antenna by mistake.
Guys do you think my monitor is sticking too far out? Havent turned it on since I don't have pc yet but I feel like it's very close to my face because od the fat stand behind it
nah you're goated
100% personal preference there
on skibidi
I personally prefer to have my monitor right up to my face
about half a foot away from it
Alright thanks, wasnt sure if it would strain my eyes while gaming. Im used to playing on a gaming laptop lol
Big screen is groundbreaking for me
Planning on putting pc there on the right of desk, hopefuly wont bump into it with mouse
As long as the DPI is high enough you won't get excessive eye strain
Basically 1440p or better should be good at that size
Oh ok good, its a 1440p monitor, the one on sale on dell website for 230$ USD
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, SAMA ARGB-Q5 MicroATX Mini Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, GameMax Defender MB MicroATX Mini Tower
Can't go wrong with either
Biggest difference is psu, the kyber is great whereas Prestige is meh
And if you'd spend another $20 the b650m pro rs wifi is worth it
Oof the lightning just went out of stock anyways
This is also fine
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/7ccBD3/asrock-b850m-x-wifi-micro-atx-am5-motherboard-b850m-x-wifi
this is the best option?
B650m pro rs wifi would be better, but at $120 yeah this is
Or if you have ethernet, b650m pro rs at $130
Ill see if he needs wifi
Im going to do it all black. Im buying yellow cables and then doing a bat signal inside
Check out the montech xr
I think its easy to make a sick build w that case
Or sky two gx
Cheap too
Cheap and flashy
Unlike NZXT
All flash, no substance and overpriced (also cooks your hardware)
Heard that
Same with Hyte tbh
They made one good case and then became NZXT
Hyte Y60 is reasonably priced and performs decently
Y70 isn't a bad case per say but it's overpriced
The rest are meh to bad
Y70 is the only reasonable one for performance and it's also the most expensive
Those are cases for watercooling, standard gpu cooling is bleh
Really?
How about the Y60?
That one seems to be the most reasonably priced
Y60 is the worst one
It has room for a 3 slot
But that's the problem
3 slots nothing else
So any flashy gpu is choked by obstructed vertical air
You're basically limited to like, 250W cards generally lol
💀
So basically Hyte had one good case
That's absurdly overpriced
Yeah it's NZXT alright
Hyte is just NZXT's S340 designer heading up his own brand
Their cases are excellent if you consider a full waterloop though
But air cooled gpu is a rip outside of y70
Has anyone tried the IceGiant Phosiphon Elite? We might need a beefy quadruple air cooler to these CPUs to get as much possible out of the 5090
Which cpu
AMD Ryzen 9800 I think
A620 is plenty
Definitely don't need a prosiphon for any ryzen 9800
They're not good on small chips
Is that a hard game to run?
Game what
Almost Human?
Yeah it’s just we’re getting higher numbers than 7800 x3d so more powerful CPUs and expensive tech
The 9800X3D is a colder cpu than its predecessor
That’s odd how’s that possible if 9800 is a higher end cpu?
Even a a620 se tbh
Thats not how generational improvements work
New design makes it run so cold it's basically intel type thermals
Flipped vcache did a lot
Yeah but aren’t those the newer CPUs?
Newer isn't hotter
9800X3D is colder at the same power draw as a 7800X3D
I would know
I've used both
If you unlock a 9800X3D to the full 160W, it can get as hot as it's predecessor
Despite double the power draw
Not an improvement in performance but at least it doesn’t get even hotter
It improves on both
Even in very gpu limited scenarios you still get a bit of an uptick on modern titles
Games are pivoting to more cpu dependency these days
Guess I’ll wait a while. If I buy a new cpu and graphics card I might have to switch parts out including the power supply because I’d be upgrading from a 4080 to a 5090.
Guess I should wait until I need to buy a new computer to put together
Almost Human
4080 is perfectly fine
Eh detroit?
Yeah techs just moving on very fast
Imagine one day we get new cpu and gpu generations every single year
Tech's moving fast
Games are moving even faster
Some say too fast
Doesn't take full advantage of the hardware
This any good for a b550 mag tomahawk? https://a.co/d/0pmXrIl
Can you even use intel wifi cards on amd?
Doesn't a tomahawk have wifi 6
yes*
Games moving faster is a different story
That’s the max WiFi
This is non WiFi
Context he was using a WiFi adapter for internet
Even though some games are $70 buying new video games is cheaper than buying new hardware to use with your pc
Oof. Well intel works just be careful with wifi 7 cos not all of those work
These parts aren’t cheap
there are 2 types of wifi chipsets intel makes
ones that work on pcie (works on amd) and a propritary interface one (intel only)
It's more that
Especially not the graphics card
The games are released unoptimised
Your hardware is capable of running games better
I paid $1000 for my 4080 last year when I ordered up
The games just aren't extracting the full potential
That’s 6e
Don’t think we can really do anything about that
Should I do the pcie one cause it’s paired with a 5700x3d?
Ya I wouldn’t be stupid enough to put WiFi 7 on it 😭
6 or 6e I guess, no clue if 6e would work though
sure ig?
Was looking at this one though https://a.co/d/8QZV3mn
aha found what the name was again
CNVio2
that's the propritary interface
Guys is this pc case good?
CyberPowerPC Montech HS01 Curve 360V ATX Mid-Tower Gaming Case With Tempered Glass Front and Side
It looks cool but worried about airflow and no reviews online
It looks like this but comes with fans so thats why I was interested. There are other options but thought this looked cooler
how can I stop static from building up in my room? I don’t even have carpet but I’ve shocked myself on my pc and light switches miultiple times and ion wanna potentially destroy my pc
no more socks maybe
😔 love me my socks
Looks like it would be ok, not fantastic but passable.
Static won't hurt your computer
This one is fun to watch. That static gun is PAINFUL. https://youtu.be/nXkgbmr3dRA?si=7595cV9VywokRbDX

Just how dangerous is static electricity to your PC? Are ESD wrist bands just a "big tech" scam, or are they a necessity to protect your much-loved gaming rig? Linus and Ele...
Ooh what's fun is when static builds up and you touch the power button and turn on the PC with just static
lmaoo I'm glad I've never had that happen to be yet
I used a few of these for my pcs and others. Never had an issue with them
https://a.co/d/cUg9jfC
They usually have a coupon but not seeing one now
I’ll see for that one to go sale within the next week, thanks!
This looks like the same exact thing tbh
So, I am trying to build up a new PC, unfortunately, I need a bit of help. I don't have very much experience on choosing parts, but I am aware of what I will need to build a pc, just I don't really have the knowledge yet on how to choose. So, my budget is 4000$ CAN. So, if anyone which to help me out. I am open for any suggestions
What's the use case
Do you need wifi
Does the budget include keyboard monitor mouse
Do you prefer white or black
I can keep this really simple if we just answer these questions
Wifi, keyboard, mouse, already got that, This budget is for the PC. Haven't choose yet a case, and I would like something between white and black.
Monitor?
Wait how do you already have wifi
You mean you have wifi at home
Do you need to use wifi with the computer or ethernet lol
Like a usb
Yes, my bad
Ah ok
I am a dummy
You're fine
Grey is tough lol
Best I could do is a mix potentially
So monitor is not included in the budget or should it be?
I apologize, not really good at describing, but yes, I was aiming for a mix
Alr
I got a monitor
A LG
LG what kind
Is it 1080p, 1440p, 4K
How many hz is it
Is it new or old
(This matters cos a bad matching monitor will hold back a pc)
@4000cad I'd probably slap an OLED in there and whatever the current monitor is becomes a secondary
Well the current one could be oled
We don't know
Schrodinger's monitor
What secrets does beebir withhold
👀
I suppose, though an OLED owner probably wouldn't respond "A LG" when asked what they have
give me a sec
Cheers
When you come back, need to know what the pc is being used for
Give me percentages
Like 30% work, video editing, bender
60% gaming
10% streaming
Type of example
Alright, so I will need a new monitor.
PC will be use
90% gaming
10% for work
What kind of work you doing lad
Just in case I need to cater to it specifically
Well, it for studying for college.
Ok
So it not work, but yeah
Do you know what kind of programs you think you'll use
If you're not sure tell me your degree or like faculty
I'll be able to pick up on it
Some degrees want specific hardware
So building with that in mind will give you a little edge for little loss to your gaming experience

@shrewd gale you still there mate
I can't start a list without knowing all your objectives lol
It'll save you doing any thinking

Ok, going to be honest, I am unsure of the questions you just ask.
If you're not sure on sharing specifics I can still kinda cater to it without being too specific
It's ok
Plus stressing for no reasons.
I mean like, you get to college, they tell you to use x or y program for class
That kinda thing
Some of those like specific pc parts, so you could be able to do it all at home for better or worse
Oh, it not much of a program, it just google search.
Ok
he was asking what area of study you are going into for college (e.g. engineering, business, chemistry, etc.)
Aviation, becoming a pilot
And I really love gaming, that why I really need a new pc
nice
yeah that probably wont need any specific requirements for hardware, unless you do flight simulations on the side lol
Kinda, not much but I do play it.
@shrewd gale do you like rgb lights in the pc, maybe little screens (costs extra)
Or no colours
Simple design, just black/white/gray?
Do you like wood accents?
Add rgb, I could personalize it and yes I do love the wood accents
Alr
@shrewd gale do you want to see inside or you don't mind mesh *for the case
Mesh is a lot better performing usually
Helllooooo
Hi, sorry, need to deal with something, ok. Yes, wish to see the inside if it doesn't bother
It's no bother, nearly done here lol
Last question
Do you want to spend all 4 grand or nah
I can be a bit equitable if you have an ideal price lower than 4K
Can be lower the 4k.
No I'm asking if you want lower or if you want to maximise every dollar lol
Cos I can do either or
Rn I'm sitting at about 3200
Well, it sounds good.
Alr have a gander
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
I'm still looking for front rgb fans (though no rgb behind the wood specifically looks a lot better imo)
Here's pretty much maximised budget
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
RGB almost everything worth giving rgb
Both lists will play basically anything on the 1440p monitor and OLED/QD-OLED looks phenomenal
Just uh, only caveats, avoid 100% brightness and do some google about oled care
Avoid using it in direct sunlight
(Won't hurt it but monitors really in general don't look good in direct sun lol)
Agreed
You could do the first list with the extra fans of the second one if you prefer
That's also an option
This would basically be what I'd target though
Any more than this is definitely wasted spending
I would also have a look at what AMD's new gpus are going to cost
The 9070 and 9070XT are competitive to these two 7900XT and 7900XTX for a potentially great price
They are being unveiled in literal days
Could end up worth the wait
Right, and the new getforce that are getting out this week?
Those look a lot more mild to me
Ah, ok ok
I would say a used current or older gen geforce would be better value for money
But my take
Always get a second opinion
I have however used a LOT of this stuff over the years
And I don't want to confuse you too much
You seemed overwhelmed lol
I would say actually
Use those two lists as a starting point
Then shop by gpu with care
Can't lye then say yes. I will check it out, theses will be better then the current one I have
Odds are they could be yeah
Currently got 1 ram, I think
Apart from that, everything else here is accounted for
You can send me a pic of it if you like
I'll tell you if it's able to be used
Ahaha
I bought it when I started playing and wanted to have a pc
Yeah can't be used sadly
Ah, kind of knew it
That's ddr4, the new stuff takes ddr5
It looks basic enough I wouldn't use it even if it was compatible
Lol
Going to sell it probably with the monitor
That looks like a cheap Ryzen 5, 2060? Pc
Lol
I forget which ones those cheap single fan rtx cards are
I think it's zotac 2060
Ohp it says asus I'm wrong

Yeah just sell that one
Wipe the ssd or take it out, slap it in the new one
We have guide videos if you need build help
^
Been running with it for 4 years
Yeah.
Maybe 550? If you take all the storage out
Anyway hope that simplifies things
You're welcome to ask around for second opinions but I figure I'd target your objectives instead of just saying "This is good"
GETS SUPER CONFUSING that way lol
Yes, it did, and I really appreciated the help. It make it more clear and I have learn some stuff
Np
We have plenty of people here able to answer questions
Just keep them in the appropriate channels
I'm off to have breakfast

GL with the build mate
All good, thank you.
No worries happy to help
If I have one computer connected to the internet with its built-in wifi could I plug a ethernet cable into it, into a switch and the two other computers connected to that have a cross over cable would they get internet?
If you make the parent computer a hotspot host I think it's possible yeah
This is what is referred to as an ad hoc network
This does require some manual configuration as there is no router or DHCP server
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MyTFXR
Would this psu be sufficient/modern enough for the rest of the components?
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600K, GeForce RTX 4070, NZXT H5 Flow (2022) ATX Mid Tower
How much of that do you own
That's my current build, I'm considering replacing my psu (be quiet pure power 12) and ram (in the list) because of some issues i've been having crashing.
750w
#building-and-recc-chat message This here
Truthfully, I've considered even just resetting windows today lmao, just to see if it does anything helpful.
And I went about 2 days WITHOUT crashing, and then yesterday it crashed twice within a couple hours.
So I really don't know.
Can you type this into start
