Imagine bragging about these
Then also needing to restart pc twice just to make the rgb software work for a minute
Yeah man
All my extra i/o on my x870E strix
Cos that's who I'd be buying this
I don't need them
I'm wireless
Holy hell
I was joking
That's huge

Omg it probably needs it too
It's trying to communicate
oh no
would you rather, deal with icue or the giant dongle
Wireless

I choose death
currently building a future proof pc
lol that’s funny
Is it cool
is it cool
💀
heck yeah its clearly future proof
yeah obv
Part List - AMD Ryzen 9 7950X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop XL Air ATX Full Tower
the most future proof

No gen 5 ssd smh
thats a gen 5x4
Oh wait
I saw $340 and 4tb and just assumed it was gen 4 lmao
Sadgeness
Is there any reason why the z790 isn’t picking up my Ethernet connection?
Aight so not only do I need to change my pin, but I can’t access the internet to change it
Wth is this
Windows moment 🪟
Whoever thought up of needing internet to access changing pins needs the CEO treatment
Sounds like reinstallation time to me but you could try injecting the driver directly into system32
If you want, I have a script you can put in the install USB that creates a local account and skips many installation steps including the net check
Bruh wut now I still got no internet
OK good, that doesn't always work but the autounattend script does
Microsoft has been doing their best effort to kill that for good
I wouldn't count on it working for long
They keep trying but every time they get met with an insane pushback for everyone who supports no internet setups
Including but not limited to 3rd world countries especially
Yeah but still, wouldn't count on it long-term
They might kill that command in particular and put something different in and say "It's there, people are just too dumb to know"
This is the part where I start ranting about Microsoft
@potent portal
bro I think I just killed my pc
I have no power
I was updating my drivers and my dog was under my desk. I was trying to scare him with noise spamming my keyboard on the left near windows key
then boom
shuts down
power off
can’t turn it on 💀
Did your dog accidentally flip the switch on your power cord or back of your psu?
Ong
Wire check time. Unplug everything except power, make sure the power switch is on for the power bar (if applicable) and the power supply
lol no
Bro I got scared
It works now
I unplugged and plugged it in
phew
Every time he types it's a gunshot
Most american keyboard
https://innocn.com/products/copy-of-innocn-27-4k-monitor-uhd-refurbished-27c1u-l Any good for a secondary monitor?
My pc been acting weird ever since i got 5800x3d, new rams, new psu.
Once or twice a day my pc will show down, it shows down drastically with 10 seconds into complete freeze, nothing happens during that time, complete freeze including sounds from any sources. I then have to force shut down using the power button hold and then the windows will start normally again, but today for the first time i get this in the black screen (check pic). Please someone help. @mossy venture @cyan ravine
I did fresh Windows 11 install after wiping c drive after putting these new components
After that black screen the windows restarted automatically and now the windows is working but who knows when it will start freezing again 😔
What psu do you have
100% sounds like power issues
The screen shot could be a few things
Also what ram did you get?
It's this psu, i bought everything that @cyan ravine adviced.
Right now nothing coming up on the monitor, restarted pc few times with the power button.
This time it froze when i launched patch of exile 2, instant freeze. And it mostly happens when I'm playing games, btw i didn't get this issue this often but started happening often in the last few days.
Btw I'm getting low % power deviant or something can't remember what it called on that hwinfo software
Not important
You haven't plugged any other ram in yes
Just those two sticks
And only those two sticks
Correct
Your hesitation inspires confidence 😂
I hope a picture is on the way lol
Sorry i starter work that's why i can't reply. But i will reply back as soon as I'm back
I only plugged the 2 fake rgb sticks (non memory), like i said i would.
Turn the ram down to 3200 and remove the rgb sticks, hopefully that's enough to save the install otherwise you may need a recovery disk or reinstall
If it's giving a missing BCD error then that install is probably toast.
That's also the reason why it's recommended to enable XMP after installing windows, because you have no way to test it before that point.
You can rebuild the BCD ofc but you have to wonder what other damage has been done to the OS
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/RPczfd
can anyone give me some GPU options for this build under 300
Yeah but I wouldnt buy most of that
Do you alr own the psu?
And ssd I'm assuming
Part List - Intel Core i5-14600K, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Yeah I own all of it, I know I need a new ssd as well
Ahh
Then I'd look for a 6700xt or 6750xt ideally, those were $300 for a long while but are now running out of stock
7600 at $240-260 is solid, but id aim for something with 12gb vram
If you're open to used, 6800 would be a great choice
sorry for all the questions but is there anything preventing me from getting a 3060 or an OC card? seems they are under 300 with even more memory
Nothing would be preventing you from doing that but they are significantly worse than the options presented
To elaborate on what fal said, the $190 6600 8gb from amd is 5% worse, and a card of that tier of performance won't be able to utilize 12gb of vram
i see okay
This at $330 is a bit overpriced but still ~40% better than a 3060
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/4RrRsY/xfx-radeon-rx-6750-xt-12-gb-speedster-qick-319-core-video-card-rx-675xyjfdp
7700xt is only $30 more for another 15% jump in performance, but then you're $60 over the initial budget, so yknow you do you
okay sounds good thanks for all the help!
B580 is worse
Iirc it's like 25% slower?
aw darn
Thats guess work mostly so don't quote me on that
And im sure new drivers will improve perf like it did with the first intel arc series
Wait
Ig it depends on the game
They've already pushed a new driver that fixed 2 of the games reviewers had issues with
From what I've seen, on average it's between a 6700 (non xt) and a 3060Ti
Which would also equate to 7600xt-ish
Depends on the game but generally it falls between the 3060 and 3060 ti, occasionally beating the ti
Tom's hardware seems to show it about equal to 7600xt
Tom's is somewhat problematic with their testing
Oh
I think HUB has a more realistic chart this time around since they included a few of the new games that force RT on
Which naturally does make the AMD cards look weaker, lots of fanboy complaints in the comments
I just got back from work.
Windows is new, after putting all these new components i wiped c drive.
I just turned off the xmp profile but it doesn't put the ram to 3200 but instead 2400MT/s
bit tired from work so cba to take the rgb rams off today but i will probably do it tomorrow
but this one issue i always see on HWiNFO is this, and this it the only one i always see red nothing else ever shows red at all.
As Felix said, the deviation doesn't matter
sorry i don't know when he said that. according to this software it sould be <90 or >110%. right now i'm getting 75%.
Yeah that doesn't matter when it's idle
oh i see, so does this 90 - 110 matters when on heavy load? is that when i should be worried if the current deviation not sitting in between? and should it be mostly close to the 100 mark?
That stat matters so little I don't even monitor it
It's only useful when you're pushing power during overclocking to monitor VRM efficiency
ok got it thanks. should i installed all of these?
Yes
Froze again so i took of the RGB rams, should the rams be on left or right side slot?
Or it doesn't matter?
Slots 2 and 4, counting from the CPU side
Hi o/
so i didn't put it wrong then 😄 thank you 🙂
My pc turns off after it uses a lot of cpu %, like in the 90s, is this normal or do I need a new cpu
Check cpu temps
using like msi afterburner?
or in task manager somewhere
i opened that up, where do i see the temps?
When the program opens, tick the "sensors only" box
It's good to see what your specs are too though, might help narrow things down
im still lost 😭
Hmm, is that all there is under that CPU category?
You might not have chipset drivers installed
Ah lol, the CPU (Tctl/Tdie) one is a good one to look at since it's usually one of the hottest sensors
no it's a whole fan i think
wasn't stock
i bought this 3 years ago tho
so idk what it is
Yeah 103 is hot enough to trigger the safety shutoff so that'll be it for sure
Hopefully you just need some new thermal paste, 3 years is well past the life of many pastes
i never thought it'd be an issue hahaha
i appreciate the help
No problem
update, everything came exactly as described, really couldn't be happier.
joke of tonight is i lost my computer case screws, thought they were missing from the box, was writing an email to the company, went to grab a picture of the accessories from the manual, remembered I had a bag of screws and left them on the table downstairs.
Found the screws
Lost the screw driver.
im on a roll tonight
Do you have a pre built?
And if its been 3 years, your thermalpaste 100% needs to be redone. If you don't have any id get mx4 or mx6 from arctic
no i built it myself
albeit the components could've been better
but i know nothing about pc maintenance
Fair enough
I'd definitely repastr the cpu
its been about 2 years now
Yeah you're due a repaste lol
honestly ive had 0 issues w/ cpu temps. i think my cpu is coved in paste
but i will anyways
Although as long as cpu temps are fine, does it really matter?
It's been something like a year for me
As long as it's not separated it's fine
just going off my own experience, if it's been 3 years since; you changed paste, and your temps are mid-50s or less it's fine really
anything above that and yeah you need to change the paste
i'm referring to idle.
Idle temps don't mean much
why not?
i've seen idle temps be around 60 with old paste
so a conclusion can be easily drawn from the idle temps.
Cooling scales depending on the heat your cpu and gpu are putting out
that heavily depends on cpu
It does.
You could idle at 60c, and run games at 75c
sorry my wifi is killing me
But if the temps are above 50 idle, the chance of it being high under load are pretty good
i sent that message 2 minutes ago
thats unlikely imho, at least judging by the amount of heat newer cpu's put out, i know at least with older cpu, socket1366 types i would say my old system would idle around 58ish with bad paste, and go up to 80 under load
idle should be around 19c to 35c, just going by my own experience, not fact
other's might have a different belief or opinion
Older systems were a lot less efficient and less efficiently cooled
that's true
also i think newer cpus would be more prone to throttle to protect their circuits no?
Yeah
Cough cough intel
13th/14th gen voltage control cough cough
My 13600k under a 280mm aio was boosting to 1.45v+ and 100c in any multi core benchmark
All stock settings aside from xmp being enabled
I love air cooling.
Just let me leave that here.
Not that AIOs are an issue, I've just had terrible luck with them.
I've had 2 pumps fail out of 2 AIOs I bought before going back to Air Cooling
At least I don't have to worry about pump failure.
@mossy venture when you’re done with this conversation, do you mind making me a 7500f+32GB ram+fishtank case for $850?
fishtank case is absurd
it’s a customer
fish powered pc when
this a tomorrow project
how bad is repasting
is it hard
it's hard to not get paste on your hands yeah
Oh I don't like aios either
I've had good luck with this one so far
But I almost never recommend them
Yeah one sec
There is a free 1tb ssd with the 7600x on newegg rn
It might be more worth it to bundle that with a mobo, or mobo and ram
No. But im busy, and is tomorrow not the weekend?
U don’t need to be wrong and rude
oh im sorry i thought you were telling me this was a weekend project for me
i didn't mean to be rude
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 7600, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
i was making a joke, but everyone at some point or another has gotten paste somewhere they didn't intend to
i'm proud to say i've never gotten thermal paste on my
hands
well good
it's usually something you only do once
after that you don't wanna waste the dish soap from not being careful enough
How much over the 7500f?
Rubbing alcohol 👍
Things you learn from doing it more than once lol
I think $198 vs like $133 or smthn like that
Should work out abt the same price
Maybe a 2% performance difference plus igpu
Margin of error effectively because the clock speeds are the same iirc
Got a list?
Just swap 7600x in here
Same ssd
I think its a 400mhz diff
I lied it's 300mhz
How dare you fal smh
Curse this human condition that causes me to be imperfect
Become true techie- become ai
Nah I already had that arc
Oh?
Had to turn myself off and on again a few times
Ahh that's always the solution
currently turned on
Dont forget to check if youre plugged in
What you never tried it? It's the same way the birds charge on the power lines
I do the same thing by licking the wall outlets
TIL 343 recharges using quick charge 7™️

lol totally not bots you guys
Hi, I recently finished building a pc using the lian li lancool 207 case and after turning it on I don’t see my pump turning on or any indicator that its on. Neither is my 7900 gre fans spinning and I receive no output. I am using the montech 360 mm aio if someone can please help. Much appreciated
specs?
and elaborate on what you mean by "turning it on"
did you press the power button and absolutely nothing happened?
were there any signs of anything receiving power?
GPU fans don't spin until it gets hot. There wouldn't be any indication that the pump is on either, except some slight vibration when you touch it.
How often should I re-apply thermal paste
depends
how long are you planning to use your pc?
usually I upgrade my pc before I have to reapply thermal paste
maybe every 3-5 years?
uh
a very long time
actually maybe till summer
might just buy a new rig when summer comes
when's the last time you repasted?
3 years ago lol
I'll be repasting tomorrow
My cpu is overheating doing basic gaming
Getting up to 112º
What are the rest of your specs?
3 years does sound about right tho
Specifically the case and cooler
Idk about the cooler but the case is a phanteks p300 without the mesh
I made a huge mistake not getting the mesh one
yeah 113c sounds like something a lot worse than dry paste
I’ve had a few aircooler systems just instantly get better with some tightened screws
something something coldplate shape
Just don’t over tighten
also if it's an am4 cpu
I'd power it up and let the paste heat up
then turn it off and remove the cooler
could be a dead pump yeah
Had a couple dead pumps in the last year
yikes
Yes
Ryzen 5 7600x 16gb ram 850 watt psu and rx 7900 gre
Hit the power button
can I cool down 7900x with 240mm aio ?
Did my first build as a kid in 2012. Still have the same case + fans + psu + hdd (although I've added some SSDs over the years). Everything else I've upgraded once or twice over the years. I'm treating myself to a whole new build when I can get a 5090. Still debating on the CPU, but I'm thinking about waiting for the 9950 with 3d cache. Here's what I've got so far (black + rgb aesthetics): https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hdgjZc
Good luck with that, you'll be competing with millions of people and bots to get one of the 5000 5090s they'll have nationwide at launch and the 9950X3D is probably going to be a similar story
"Same" build

Part List - Lian Li O11 VISION COMPACT ATX Mid Tower
update from yesterday, this is what it got to while loading up marvel rivals
applied thermal paste and cleaned the cooling fan
stress tested?
this was the stress test
because yesterday i had 112 degrees
now it's 85
hmm
might be a cooler contact thing
I'd run a proper stress test tho
usually games don't push it to the max
the 85 was the max it hit while loading shaders
so it's the heaviest load it should be while playing the game
iirc ryzens like to idle high
85 is still much better than crashing
85c is pretty low in terms of peak temps
And that was probably from the sudden load before the fan caught up anyway
agreed
fan was also extremely dusty
my brother said there was no airflow
which made sense
i couldn't see the other side
until i air canned it
Question for the Builders: I'm planning to put together 2x NVMe Gen5 + 1x NVME Gen4 & RTX 5090 (Next Year) on Strix x870e gaming & Ryzen 7 9800X3D. Will I be able to run them all on Gen 5 and how can I tell if I'll have enough?
Unless you're editing 16k video there's no reason to use a gen 5 drive
Gen 4 is plenty for 8k scrubbing
Also there is not and never will be a 8900X3D
Sorry 9800X3D
Well between that and the 5090 you can expect that build to be done sometime near the end of next year
I managed to reserve the CPU now just praying for the GPU on release
Hopefully wherever you reserved it gets it sometime around the end of next month
Because that's when the next restock is expected
As for the 5090, you won't find that for less than $4k from a scalper any time in the next 6 months most likely
I'll sit and stare at my PC during CES day... lol
Unless you know a guy at microcenter that can tell you when you should wait in line overnight
Sadly no, but I'll still wait.. Should know right after CES.. Hopefully
Anyhow.. How can I tell if I'll have enough Gen5 lanes to run all my Gen 5 hardware?
I heard if all slots are filled up with Gen5 + GPU some lanes will downgrade to Gen 4
Is that correct?
Sort of, what it does is limit the GPU slot to 5.0 x8
But no GPU currently supports 5.0, and it's unclear if the 5090 will
I think it will be.
It's really expensive to implement and honestly pretty buggy so I'm not sure
Lots of posts saying it will and it makes sense
Well, running on the assumption that it does, 5.0 x8 should be plenty of bandwidth
Are PCIE lanes determined by just the Mobo or CPU as well?
Both
An 8000 series CPU for example would cause M.2 slots 2 and 3 to be disabled entirely
So do I add both lanes to figure out my total lanes?
Yes but no
The CPU and chipset have a set number of lanes that can be used, but whether they're actually used or not depends on the model of motherboard
How do you mean?
Let's say the CPU has 20 lanes available and the chipset has 40. But the motherboard only has one x16 slot for the GPU and 2 M.2 slots, so it would only be using 24 of those total 60 lanes
can someone help me find a laptop for my mom, im thinking of buying one for her since the she bought isnt going to last as long as she thought it would, its only got 4 gb of ram and 64gb of storage (she only has about 10gb free storage left) , I was looking to spending about $300. She is only goi ng to be using the laptop for her cricut and writing a book she says. I’d prefer to get one to have the option to add storage to it later on as well, and maybe have about 256-512gb storage and 8-16gb ram?
OK I think I get it now. So with my CPU & Mobo I have 24 M.2 lanes. Is that correct?
There's 5x M.2 slots, and the first 3 are wired to the CPU, so it's asking for 28 lanes from the CPU, but that's shared with other things like the USB 4 controller so it has to reduce the lanes available to the GPU to stay under the 28 the CPU has
The other 2x M.2 slots are wired to the chipset, which is a bit slower but has a lot more lanes available to it
OK so if I want to maximize my GPU lanes I can't use the 2 M.2 near it. I can only have 1 Gen5 M.2 and the rest Gen4. Is that correct?
If you needed all 16 lanes to the GPU then yes you could only occupy the first M.2 slot, leaving 2 and 3 open. You can still use 4 and 5.
Thank You!
That's a Tough budget for a laptop. I'm no expert so I recomend just going to Best Buy to look around or Google Search.
closest best buy is an hour away
Ouch, sorry to hear that. I guess Google will be your next best solution.
well thats why im asking for help, it doesnt have to be for gaming
any facebook marketplace deals?
sorry to refer you to there
but it's kinda hard to find all of that without it being labeled as "used: good"
i live in small town and closest other town is about 20 minutes
@little osprey I'm a bit late to the convo so here's some questions
Budget?
what software does she use?
Does the laptop need to have a good battery life?
about $300 for budget, its gonna be for home and she uses windows
ok that's simple
I thought it'd be sub-100 judging by how the other guy responded
I'd look for a laptop with an 8th gen i5
those are usually the cheapest 4c/8t
shes not tech savvy, and i dont want her to have the same problem with a laptop i used to have when i had a laptop with only 64gb and ran out of storage lmao
although $300 might be enough for a 10th-11th gen i5
oh $300 is a massive budget for that use case
there's a lot of enterprise laptops being dumped onto the used market
especially the 8th gen ones
you can find ones with 256-500gb ssds for that budget easily
I would debloat windows tho
yeah i just wanted something to last her a while and something that the storage could still be upgraded on in case i underestimated the things she would be downloading and saving
ive only ever used windows, so if i went with a linux, i wouldnt really know what to do on it
that's fair
windows 11 is annoyingly bloated
8th gen laptops are still...fine but they will start to chug pretty soon
yeah she got a 64 gb laptop and only has like 8-10 gb left and its brand new
yeah that's the problem with windows
lately they don't really care about making the os run smoothly
they've just been pushing out feature updates
so yeah I'd definitely recommend 10-11th gen i5s at least
should fit within your budget
okay thank you, im gonna look around a bit and make a list you could possible take a look at?\
okay ill try that
how much ram would you recommend? she is only gonna do writing and designing things for her cricut that i know of so far
would 8 be enough?
Should be for basic office work
should be enough yes
okay thank you
Especially with recall on the newer version 😭
Eating your disk space for no reason taking screenshots every few seconds
Because the AI needs to see what you're doing at all times just in case you ask it "what was I doing 10 minutes ago"
that is literal spyware
thats why i turn off advertising and ai stuff and the stuff it sends to help for troubleshooting
That's good and all but the apps still run and take resources even if they're neutered
It's actual torture for me to use windows
Ty I'll consider some of their parts as that is much cheaper
I'll get them eventually, but I'm prepared to do whatever flying and or camping I may need to try and get one on release
In that case either a stock bot or a trip to microcenter/best buy might be the easiest way, you just need to watch the rumors for when drops happen
Personally I'm considering taking the trip to the new santa clara microcenter once they open for a GPU
@little osprey
yes?
Do you live near a microcenter?
I don't know if you do
cause I was looking at microcenter for monitors and came across this
nah closest one is 3 hours i believe
oooh alrighr
Yeah that's about how far it'll be for me once that new location opens, for now it's about 12 hours to the closest one
If you're determined the trip is doable
yeah closest one to me is 3 and half hours from me lmao
Microcenter could honestly beat out newegg if they expanded their locations
but then again
microcenter probably has all of these good deals cause of backstock or something
Nah part of the appeal is the in person stuff you can't do online
Like actually decent troubleshooting and build services
ya that's the reason why if they expanded their locations to like 1-3 each state, they would be booming in business
That takes about $5 million per location total roughly
And that's just accounting for the first year of the lease, not including expensive areas
If only elon musk could share some money
which they would easily make in the first month of opening them, if one opened near me and was about an hour away, id definitely make the trip, aint nothing new to me having to drive 20 min to an hour everyday
I seriously doubt that, maybe 200k is reasonable per month for a new location
They're operating at a loss for the first year by design, hiring extra employees and such
maybe more close to 1 million, all the hype and attention it would bring would be insane. where i live, the closest best buy is an hour away, and then the next one i believe is literally an hour and a half
Point being rapid expansion requires TONS of capital, which most businesses don't just have lying around
and the hour away one is in a mall and its pretty small too
theyd be doing fine by a couple years if they did do about 200k a month
He could give everyone in the united states $1000 and still be a billionaire
I wouldn’t even know what to do with that much money
like you suddenly die, sure it goes to your kids, but it’s the continued cycle of what do you do with that much money
At least elon tried something with his generational wealth from the emerald mines
That something was buying twitter but hey, could be worse uses for that money
https://www.microcenter.com/product/676305/acer-aspire-3-a315-24pt-r1l8-156-touchscreen-laptop-computer-steam-blue#tab-reviews-bm so @manic cloak @potent portal this is what you guys recommend? if so , im gonna go to tell my mom to sell that laptop on marketplace to help pay for this and ill pay the rest
Oh dang I seen I can’t ship it
Ya I was going to say you can't ship it, but i'd recommend it
https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/cty/pdp/spd/inspiron-15-3520-laptop/nn3520gsbbs?tfcid=91049735&gacd=9684992-1105-5761040-266906002-0&dgc=ST&gclsrc=aw.ds&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAADllXQcsoL-nnK51gWoA50wswPFYq what about this one @manic cloak
Well, and also founding spaceX and Tesla. Not saying they're perfect by any means but they have certainly pushed the respective industries forward.
That being said Musk is kinda something-automod-probably-won't-like
A 1215U for $250 isn't bad at all
it's 433$ for me
Ohhh
I have one of those Inspirons, just with an amd 5825U
build quality is alright, all plastic tho. Screen is 120hz which is odd but nice. No backlight on the keyboard
Easy to open up the bottom for service. Ram slots, storage, battery all easily accessible
I was gonna go with the i5 and 16gb of ram and 512gb so she doesn’t have to worry about storage or it slowing down on her if she is going to have multiple things going on in the background, but also I have a question @weary galleon when you say the build quality is already, do you mean it feels like it’s cheap or just stiff, also aren’t most laptops now mostly plastic?
Higher end stuff has an aluminum chassis these days
Plastic is just the cheap ones
The really high end ones have magnesium alloy
Yeah it doesn't feel like it's gonna fall apart or anything but I'm a bit more careful with it than I would be something with an aluminum chassis
And the keyboard (at least to me) feels ok, there isn't a ton of flex
Do you think it would be able to take a small fall? I always like to prepare for accidents
Ehhh I wouldn't think so personally
Not to have bias
but i've seen my dad's fair share of dell office laptops go into pieces whether it was bumped or dropped
My new PC Build is complete (Minus RTX 5090)https://newegg.io/60243eb
but then again, what laptop doesn't shatter
Define small
Needs more corsair tbh
She’s not too tall but let’s say she dropped it while packing it, and dropped it from like a 3-4 foot drop
That odyssey g9 shatters under it's own weight and heat
I was also considering Corsair Monitors but the G9 came with a free 990 Pro
I wouldn't trust any plastic laptop with that tbh
Samsung denies warranties for the shattered screens too
you should get the like 198L corsair chassis with double row fan mounts
that can fit you guessed it, a 480mm radiator
Nah I really love the Panel display on the Hyte
Oh and that kryonaut extreme is intended for subzero overclocking, it's acually pretty bad above zero
For the Monitor I've seen Heavy duty mounts to support it, so should be enough
I hanv't heard of that.. I'll do some digging
It dries out really fast compared to something like MX-6 and performs worse at ambient temperatures
Arctic MX-6 is really the most I'd do
Thank U for the notice. I'll definetly look into it
https://www.microcenter.com/product/668552/asrock-z790-pg-sonic-intel-lga-1700-atx-motherboard I can't tell if this is a steal or not
mainly cause it has sonic 😏
@potent portal How about the Noctua NT-H2?
That's a decent paste, I think it was 1 degree better than MX-6 iirc
I'd get the mx-6, I have it on my 13600k with a pa120 SE
Ya I'll retun the Kryo
my CPU keeps pretty cooled
I'll do some comparison of the 2
Yeah other Z790 full ATX boards are $140 right now so that's pretty good
just no wifi, you think it could do wifi 7?
m.2 or pcie?
Looks like Artic MX6 Wins
Thanks again @potent portal for pointing it out
just the ax210 and other models
also I have my attena from my z690, wouldn't I just need the connectors for this then?
Oh, the Intel AX210 is one of the most compatible and stable chipsets compared to, well just about anything else
Ralink and AMD chipsets drop connections randomly
Atheros kinda works when it wants to
Alright
I just realized it's going to be like 170$ for this added
I might aswell find smth built in, or see if a PG lightning is in stock
Unfortunately I think this is the only wifi LGA1700 board they carry https://www.microcenter.com/product/682097/asus-z790-prime-gaming-wifi7-intel-lga-1700-atx
Get it now! ASUS motherboards are expertly engineered to unleash the full potential of 14th Gen Intel Core Processors. Boasting a robust power design, comprehensive cooling solutions and intelligent tuning options, Z790 GAMING WIFI7 provides users and PC DIY builders with a range of performance optimizations
i'd rather spend 180$ on gambling than this
prime we running from
Hey, so i just finished assembling my first pc and I tried to turn it on but only the display for the cpu cooler turned on. I was wondering if anyone knew a solution? My parts include:
AMD Ryzen 5 7600
SAMA SM360 Liquid CPU Cooler
Gigabyte B650 Eagle AX ATX AM5 Motherboard
T-Force Delta DDR5 Memory
T-Force G50 1 TB SSD
ASRock AMD Radeon RX 7900 XT GPU
Thermaltake Smart BM3 850w Semi-Modular Power Supply
Thermaltake SWAFAN EX Cooling Fans
HYTE Y70 ATX Mid Tower Case
(Sry for the long list, just wanted to get everything)
everything plugged in? Also if you can return the power supply i'd recommend so you're not out a 7900xt
Also did any debug lights come on?
usually by the ram, should be red, orange, green or white
Yeah everything was plugged in, I double checked
No, no debug lights came on
and no fan spins?
No
They don't even turn on the rgb 😭
Even though I know I plugged it into the right headers and heard them click in place
The only thing I can think of is either I plugged them into the wrong motherboard headers, or the power supply isn't working properly
it probably is the headers
it's always the headers
but yeah if it's not the headers
Yippeeee
That's why you never close the case until you have a POST
Well at least I'm following tradition 🥰
I would recommend posting a picture of everything's that plugged into the motherboard
It wasn't hard to open the case fortunately, just kinda popped stuff off
Ok yeah I can
it could be as easily as the reset header plugged into the power header
after you check the headers tho
It's not because the case is hard to open, it's because it's a jinx
real
Ohhhhhh fair yeah
Ok
they really should standardise the headers
just make everything usb
They kinda did motherboard side but cases haven't caught up
we can make a usb port for that
I'll probably have to remove the graphics card to actually be able to get to some of the headers
So I'll post a pic when I can
🥲
I'm literally so tired
yeah it's ok
Luckily for you, you don't need a GPU in to get it to turn on since the CPU has one
Been building this thing for like 3 days only for it not to work
yeah you don't need the gpu in tbh
you pretty much just want it to post before putting the gpu back in
I've mostly just been taking my time and double checking stuff
Only for it to not work 🥰
Okok ty
I'm just concerned it's either a dead motherboard, bad psu, or user error
it's always something trivial
Quick question
No i didn't
is that possible?
I didn't rly use the sata cords cuz I had an ssd that just goes into the M.2 slot
isn't it a sata power connector instead of a sata data connector?
It would make sense for the fans and nothing else working
Unless I did something wrong 🫠
well I just said sata cause idk if it was sata or not 😭
fan hubs that use sata usually use the sata power connector
which can only plug into the psu
it's possible he forgot to plug in something into the motherboard
like the cpu power connector
but one step at a time
headers first
I highly doubt it's the fan hub
true but they installed fans
into a hyte
some wiring could of gotten mixed up or unplugged in the process
it should at least turn on
still i'd leave the fan hub for later
I'm suspecting the headers and then the cpu power connector
or...
actually you know what
the fan hub thing might be the right idea
but what if instead of the fan hub itself being the problem
what if the cpu cooler was plugged into the fan hub?
probably
some motherboards won't turn on without cpu cooler header being occupied
but that count to the fact the fans and rgb aren't working
if the fan hub's connected to sata
the aio would receive power
it just wouldn't post because the motherboard refuses
actually yeah you were probably onto the problem
took me a while to connect the dots
if it is the dots...
Well it wouldn't be the motherboard
unless part of the motherboard is dead
but that's so unlikely
well no
if the cpu fan header is unoccupied the motherboard might just not post at all
they likely plugged in the AIO screen power right, cause the AIO Screen turned on
well no
but otherwise the pump is still in question
it could've been plugged into the fan hub
and if that was powered by sata it'd turn on regardless
because the sata's connected through the psu and not the motherboard
$100 for a probably C tier unit is way too much though
just in general a fully modular psu
more cables, less of a bomb
anyways while i'm here, ebay has both of these refrubished at 140$ https://pcpartpicker.com/products/compare/T2H7YJ,MMV2FT/
Gigabyte Z790 AORUS ELITE AX ATX LGA1700 Motherboard vs. MSI Z790 GAMING PRO WIFI ATX LGA1700 Motherboard
CPU Socket Type LGA 1700. ModelZ790 GAMING PRO WIFI. Part NumberZ790 GAMING PRO WIFI. Form FactorATX. Physical Spec. 1x USB 3.2 Gen2 Type C ports. 4x USB 3.2 Gen1 Type A ports. 4x USB 2.0 ports.
I don't mind semi-modular personally, since you're going to need the 24 pin and EPS cables no matter what
Gigabyte can go up to DDR4-7600 instead of the 7200 of the msi
gigabyte also has more sata ports
Gigabyte wins
and has like 3 extra usb ports too
I'm fine with semi modulars if they're cheap
they're fine for lower budget pcs for
for 6750XT and above I'd go with something better
(and certainly not thermaltake)
unless the specific model is listed as an A tier
which...
that's also very confusing to figure out
good thermaltake psus are a hassle to find
plus he's rocking a7900xt
did discord update the ui again
not power hungry but, expensive mistake
?
no it's been like that
they've added another stupid ui update
it's happened to me
I can just return the power supply and get a new one
I would definitely
depends, when did you buy it?
oh
wait
ya do that
I misread
Like, 2 days ago
you can get a better psu for the same price
I think that's the one i got on amazon but like it has been delayed like 3/4 times
Corsair RM750e (2023) 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply vs. MSI MAG A750GL PCIE5 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
Not sure how to plug in the F_Panel connector correctly 🥲
what's that?
I tried to figure it out but I'm not very technically savy
It's the front panel header i think it's called
in the bottom right corner of your motherboard?
Yes
Ya those usually go with your cases connectors
@void wharf simply find the case connector that has like "LED" or "Switch" on it and count pins
gigabyte made it kinda easy compared to my asus so count left to right
So the female connector has 9 pin slots
But there's like a bunch in the actual header
can you send an image?
So maybe I plugged it in wrong 🫠
Yeah
I don't think I can send pics in this channel
try #build-pics
oh
just create links of the image through some website if you'd like
or even then you can just DM to me and I could reupload here ig
i'm bored enough to stay active in this chat
Dang 😔
DM it and I can post
Ok ty
Right so it's one of those combo plugs
It says f-panel tho
oh
Unless I'm dumb
the plug
🥰
@void wharf goes on the right side
the 20 and 19
cause if you look in the bottom right of the connector
it's a solid piece, no hole
Sry im just losing my mind
does your hyte 70 have a manual
Yes it does
any other smaller ones?
usually they're like 2 pins wide
pretty sure it's the usb header
I don't think
not the fp header
is it labelled usb on the side?
wait these things exist
ughhh
plug it on the left
It should go all the way on the left of that front panel header ya
if it doesn't work rotate it
this was from a reddit post of the same case
or well, the hyte y70 touch
it looks like there's 2
hyte is like the new nzxt
Yeah it looks just like that with "F_Panel" on it
Wait wtf 2??
Notch goes up relative to the board
Ok I'll try that 🥲
I just realized that gigabyte's front panel switches are flipped compared to asus's
why can't they just make it universally easy
did you post the asus image
no
that's their manual
Manual Gigabyte B650 Eagle. View the Gigabyte B650 Eagle manual for free or ask your question to other Gigabyte B650 Eagle owners.
pg 26
For recalibration and navigating through Nexus, please watch the video below!
err...
quick question
I don't have the touch screen just the normal
thank god
oh
Lol
no NZXT gimmick
your name is green!
okay but real quick question
that 9 pin connector
is it connected with the case originally or did you plug it in
it is the front panel connector
it is 100% the front panel connector
and from other images
the F panel connector has rainbow cables
not all black
angle could of been bad for the image
but I wanna make sure
the connector should say f_panel
They have all black
it says f_panel on the cable yes?
try to turn it on
I did and this is what I got :((
flip the connector
Try the reset button instead of power
It has 9 pins slots so I don't think flipping will work
wait a second...
At least at the far left
do you have the fan hub plugged into cpu_fan1?
Hmmmm
This?
radiator fans go into cpu_fan1
This plug is for the cooler fans btw
We could try bypassing the button altogether and jump the pins
did you plug the fan hub into it tho
The fan hub?
do you have a fan hub?
Like a controller for the fans rgb?
no that's the rgb controller
@void wharf Try touching your screwdriver to these 2 pins
is there anything from that little spot plugged into the motherboard?
I don't see anything
on the back?
No the pump is on the front too
where?
Like, taking them out?
Yes take the plug off the header and touch both pins with the screwdriver
Ok
Is that the place they should be plugged in?
Isn't the other one a USB3.2
that shouldn't be the issue
Well I plan on getting this board here https://pcpartpicker.com/product/T2H7YJ/gigabyte-z790-aorus-elite-ax-atx-lga1700-motherboard-z790-aorus-elite-ax
Used through ebay, 140$ but I was wondering which kit of ram would work best for it in #tech-deals
cause 64gb of ram is very tempting
64GB is also much more difficult to run, which means it won't run as fast
so that deal is a bust?
Unless you have a real need for that much memory I'd avoid it personally
Intel benefits more from speed than it does from capacity
AMD it would matter less because you aren't going to run it above 6000 probably anyway
Oh and if you did try using 4 sticks it's quite possible you couldn't even run 6000
One more thing to point out, it's not bogo memory, it's a free flash drive with memory, so either it was misinterpreted or they fixed it
For when dual pump custom loop exists
guys
can anyone recommend this ram?
one guy said they run abit hot so all i want to know if this could work with 4 sticks or if anyone has experience with them. Thanks!
Don't run 4 sticks
Like unless you want pure pain don't do 4 of any kind on ddr5
Also those are expensive af, silicon power make much better quality kits that look like that and perform the same for less
