Id imagine it's fine
I'll do a test blob when I find it
Hello all, quick question I recently noticed that I have not had the top left thing I am pointing at plugged in for the past 2 years on my pc and it has worked without issues, should I plug it in now that I have noticed or not worry about it?
It's extra power for the cpu, for ln2 overclocking
It's unnecessary
Oo just making sure because on the new pc I build i know i plugged it in lol
One more thing I am unsure of, i am looking in this software and am wondering if this gpu2 can be disabled since I have a gpu and it seems like it's un necessary or am I wrong?
That's the igpu, there's nothing wrong with it being enabled
Good for troubleshooting and some obscure tasks
Alright didn't know if it was helping or hurting or just drawing power
wdym? everyone brings out the crow bar, hits the cpu a couple times until the igpu stops working and THEN install the dedicated gpu
Also idk why i can never get temps like that on idle 😭
Ah so since my fan speed is at zero thats fine?
Yes
mine is at zero rpm as well
Idle temps depend on your fan curve
Ambient temps determine your idle temps more
not sure bud its saphire nitro plus. i dont know if that makes a diff, i heard they were pretty good at cooling
Especially at zero fan
Only when it's at thermal throttling with the fans running 100% does that mean either your heatsink isn't enough, or your paste is dry
Or it's clogged with dust
Or a fan is dead
I have a powercolor red devil so i have a good quality heatsink
But yeah with no fan i dont mind the temps since when the fans do kick on i dont think ive hit much higher than 70c at 100% uti lol
I set my fan curves to maintain my GPU at like 90
Under load
85 or 90 I forget
Basically right before thermal throttling
i was actually thinking about turning zero RPM off and running fans constantly, i am not sure it that's a good idea considering it was built to run zero, again i am not sure though. i dont know enough about this stuff to speak on it
In other words, my GPU fans nearly never spin at over 50% speed
Better to keep zero rpm mode on
Saves power
Your GPU won't care about keeping at 90c
Let alone 60
For longevities sake i dont want it to stay around 90c
Even if 95 is considered safe to a degree
You're probably gonna upgrade before thermal damage from keeping a GPU constantly at 90 would destroy it tbh
i stay around 55C while gaming with Zero so i think i will do as you say and keep it on
Your fans will have reduced life if they're constantly running
Im the type of person to use a part until it dies even if its way past an upgrade lol
Oh yeah another factor is that I don't turn off my PC unless it's to restart, or to do maintenance
Also if they're frequently starting and stopping they die faster, but the firmware is good about avoiding that
So having fans spin as little as possible is more ideal to not have fans keep dying lmao
Actually, do you know if surging would cause the fans to die faster compared to just 1 consistent rpm (like a fan curve that makes the pid loop overshoot)
At least GPU fans are cheap and easy to replace
(so it goes up and down in speed in a sinusoidal wave)
Technically yes but it wouldn't be by much

which psu should i pick
The GP-UD750GM introduces a variety of high-quality materials and top-notch design. Enjoy unrivaled performance with Japanese capacitors, and a +12V Single Rail which will provide exceptional power output and stability for your system.
CORSAIR RM750x Series fully modular power supplies with EPS12V connectors are built with the highest quality components to deliver 80 PLUS Gold efficient power to your PC. RM750x PSUs use only Japanese 105°C capacitors, for long life and reliability backed by a ten-year warranty. A 135mm magnetic...
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X3D, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
RMx shows out of stock on Amazon
Ok RM750x is the clear winner, it's a top tier power supply
Id grab this tho
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vNcgXL/thermaltake-toughpower-gf-a3-850-w-80-gold-certified-fully-modular-atx-power-supply-ps-tpd-0850fnfagu-l
And Corsair sells a cable that you can use to upgrade to the new 12VHPWR (12V-2x6) when you upgrade later
someone said to get the gigabyte one insteed 😭
and idk much about pc parts
Who is this "someone" because it's pretty well established that 1> Gigabyte power supplies have a bad reputation after they violently exploded and 2> That's a B tier power supply
some guy in the buildapc discord
Did he say why that one over the other
Because I have references https://cultists.network/140/psu-tier-list/
nah he just said that he would change the psu
I have the RM850x personally
I had the 650
wait do i get the 2024 or 2021 one
And it handled an oced 6800xt
2024 will have new connector
Old will need an adapter
They're usually more expensive because they really are high quality so they don't get recommended often, but they are top tier
Psus are one of the only things corsair does right
Slightly related question
Any idea if amds new gen is supposed to be 8 pin or not?
does that mean ill need to buy an adapter too
No clue, I have heard very little
No it's just for Nvidia 40 series so far
Only for nvidias 40 series and ahead
Because it's not even Corsair making it, they just customized an existing platform
Superflowers the oem iirc?
i thought they made prebuilts too
They do. They definitely don't do them right lol
That said not many brands do
Some of their cases are decent like the 4000D airflow
3000d and 2000d airflow have been $60/55 recently
their cases look pretty cool though
Thats great value
But they use non airflow cases in their prebuilts often so the parts just choke on their own exhaust
Otherwise mostly meh
The airflow cases are good, mostly
yeah but theyre more expensive
Sounds like a standard corsair product to me, they have that brand tax
There's plenty of decent cheaper cases now, Montech has a few for example
you could technically have a caseless build
Technically yes you can
In fact that's typically how I test builds before I put them in the case, just leave the motherboard in the box it came in
Cardboard is non conductive
oh speaking of that
do i need to buy one of those like
grounding bracelets
i think thats what theyre called
like the thing that prevents static electricity from breaking your build or something
Nah, they're not necessary on modern parts

Just how dangerous is static electricity to your PC? Are ESD wrist bands just a "big tech" scam, or are they a necessity to protect your much-loved gaming rig? Linus and Ele...
damn i didnt know that
i still see people talking about it though
If you've never seen the static wand he uses, that thing HURTS and he zapped the parts directly and didn't hurt anything
It would take a very specific set of rare circumstances to actually damage your PC with static
the question is if older pcs were actually that susceptible to static damage or if it was just a myth/good practice
goddamn i struggled to spell susceptible so hard
They weren't super sensitive to it but they often didn't have good grounding
I bought an antistatic wrist band/cord when I build my first PC around 2019-2020. After watching that video I've never used it since.
the cheaper ones might even just be fake
good practice is still to just avoid ESD as much as possible
dont to be unlucky enough to happen to touch something that will actually get damaged by esd
but you dont really need a esd wrist strap for that
just ground yourself on a metal object occasionally
and dont wear clothing that builds up static like wool sweaters
and dont shuffle around carpeted floors in shoes
I built my pc wearing socks on a carpet and it worked for 4 years before an update killed the cpu
It was just that the static decided the update was the best time to strike
It actually hid in there for 4 years
Sneaky little electrons
real
I've never used one regardless
Just apply lotion if you feel unsafe
imagine I get banned for saying "use lotion" because Felix took it the NSFW way
nah but it works though 😭
It practically deletes the static from wherever you apply it on your body
also just don't wear socks if you're standing on carpet
Never had an issue using these methods
Tbf yeah it's a pretty extreme quote LMAO
I deleted it
💀
I'm in a good mood rn cos I basically repaired an unrepairable SSD
I mean I doubt I would've even gotten kicked because of it but still lol
wow that's impressive
what was wrong with it and how did you fix it?
I/O errors "Fatal hardware error" "Device request failed"
It was basically completely cooked
so it was basically dead?
But me and my OCD
We never gave up
I kept spamming commands during the first 15-20 seconds it would detect, eventually I pulled off a format
And it just, works now
All issues gone
lmaooo that's insane
I know this exact feeling lol. Repairing stuff that isn't repairable due to its state is an amazing feeling lolll
I suspect it had some sort of bad power contact cos when I plugged it up to my AM5 system it slowed the pc down to a crawl, the same symptom that my 7950X3D had with this drive before it basically died
So I am genuinely suspicious the drive is like, actually dangerous
💀
I'm going to test it a bit, see how it goes, but I got it out of an irrecoverable state
Hopefully the power symptom is gone now too
Slap it
I already did
Yeah I wouldn't rely on it but at least you brought it back to life lol
Saved $80
@cyan ravine put that lotion message back 💀
There's no basket here
Double checking some stuff. Currently have this PSU: https://www.newegg.com/corsair-hx-series-hx1000-cp-9020139-na-1000w/p/N82E16817139204?Item=N82E16817139204
I think it has x12v 8pins but not entirely sure, or if the ones it have could support newer MBs but was going to get https://www.newegg.com/p/N82E16813145515?Item=N82E16813145515
Would my current HX1000 suffice?
HX1000 is a great power supply still as long as it's less than 10 years old. I wouldn't buy that motherboard unless you really, really need USB 4.0 though because that's all it offers over X670.
What's the pc being used for
Not even usb 4
My X670 has usb 4
It's just an increase of minimum 4 on standard
So the bar is raised despite both chipsets able to support a similar amount
More importantly what is this pc being used for and what cpu is going in there
I7-7900x because it has the same name as the r7 7900x
Not to be confused with the 7900 XT
and if you confuse it with the RTX 2080 Ti quite frankly you shouldnt be touching computers to begin with

Liar
the tension building
What's a good RGB program that has access to SAMA products, particularly fans?
Open rgb should be fine
i could never get open rgb to work personally
Yeah, doesn't pick up my fans or the hub
There's another one fal likes
not to mention the rgb is registered backwards on my board lmao
Fusion rgb i think?
Is it one you need to pay for like Signal?
Idts
ive been using signal rgb despite the fact it takes WAY too much ram
its just convenient
and i have a lot of ram to spare
and you dont pay for it
dont need to at least
All I have access to is rainbow and up and down, I can't even access breathing lol
I'll reinstall it really quick
im not at home rn and cant check the software myself
LOL, it picks up the Phantek strip, but can't control the color
lmao rip
Why is it so difficult 😭
I blame bad software
I hate how using the same software for all fans you get WILDLY different shades for a given RGB value
Like trying raw blue on my fans
CPU cooler looks outright purple in comparison to the case fans
Even the same model of fan can have that variance
No I mean my case fans are matching up really well
And matching whites is impossible
They have a TINY difference but not noticable if you aren't aware of it
But the cooler fan is atrocious
Like the cooler fan just seems to randomly add red to any color I set up
inb4 rgb colour calibrators
See that would be really cool
If you could individually dial in colors on each device
It would only be entirely logical, thats the issue
Rgb software doesnt like logic
Ikr?
Run RGB devices in series rather than parallel or get more RGB channels. More of a hardware limitation than software, as with software you can do that (albeit kinda manually, no LUTs or anything usually afaik)
triple or double? I think triple only a $3 bucks differance
if you have the space I don't think there's a downside to 360 over 240
Might as well get triple, it'll only be slightly louder from the extra fan but have more cooling capacity
friend with asrock b650m and amd gpu has msi afterburner and amd software showing 0% gpu usage
any help 🥺
Crazy it didn’t crop the pic
Download drivers
real
Is that after downloading drivers?
Windows moment perhaps
Made him uninstall his drivers because that would pop up after trying everything
restarted his pc, reinstalled his drivers
then boom it's working now
thanks
Nice
Yeah any time a gpu related software isn't working the answer is typically drivers
At least from what I've experienced
In theory larger radiator area means less airflow needed from each fan though (I think?)
While you are correct, that would only apply under load
It would be near minimum speed at idle
Not Armory Crate, it can only set one color and pattern to all ports
Pain. But also AC is kinda bloatware tbh, should be using other stuff for controlling the computer stuff IMO
I'm only using it while I'm still cursed with this mobo
I'm probably gonna move over to openRGB once I build my new rig (ITX 9800X3D+7900XT, later a 4080s)
It's aSUS motherboard for sure
sus
I should try using openRGB to see if it can control the RGB for my motherboard and GPU
just to turn it off
Go ahead and send it to me
10000$ and it’s yours
i have some pocket lint
i know i know, its a very generous offer from me but i promise its authentic
Hey, I have this PC with these specs:
CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 5900X 12 core processor
motherboard: gigabyte Aorus master X570S
RAM: 32gb g.skill trident Z 3200 MHz dual channel
Graphics card: Nvidia GeForce RTX 3070 TI
CPU cooler: NZXT Kraken X63 280 mm rad.
Storage:
one 1 TB Samsung Evo 970 m.2
one 250 GB western digital m.2 SSD
one 2 TB Seagate barracuda HDD.
The RGB on the PC turns on, like the ram and such. I hear a clicking when pressing the power button, but the PC won't turn on
The PSU, Motherboard, and the wiring have been swapped from the default parts it had
Do you guys think it's better to hold on buying 4070s and wait for new releases?
I currently use 1660 Ti with 7800x3d. I just basically upgraded everything and waited for black friday for gpu but no luck so far with the discounts in my area.
Well Black Friday isn’t till next week
New 70 class cards won't be out until Q2 next year at the earliest, about 6-8 months from now
I'm looking at upgrading my CPU as it seems to be bottlenecking my GPU constantly. I have and I7-12700F and RX 6900 Xt. Is it worth swapping to Ryzen? If so what do I need to swap out. I know I'll need a new motherboard but is there anything else?
12700 shouldn't be bottlenecking a 6900 XT unless you're at 1080p. Are you using DDR4 or DDR5? That can be a limiting factor for the CPU.
DDR4, I also have an ultrawide idk if that has an impact (5120x1440)
I'm mainly going off of my metrics im always at 100% utilization on my CPU but never going above 90% on GPU
Yep it's the memory that's your limiter probably. Double 1440 ultrawide should be entirely GPU dependent.
%age numbers don't always tell the whole story
alright, so just upgrade ram?
You can start to close the gap by overclocking your current memory. What kit do you have?
I dont know much about ram are there any changes I need to make to my rig to upgrade to DDR5?
Yes it would need a new motherboard too
like just my specs?
The memory specs are a good start
I dont remember the brand but its saying "32GB 2667 MHz DDR4 Memory"
Yeah thats older gen stuff
or maybe not running xmp? not sure if 2666 is a base speed or not
If you can, load up CPU-Z and show the memory and SPD tabs
That's probably xmp off
Those tabs will tell the story
It will also tell us what the overclock potential is
CPU-Z for Windows® x86/x64 is a freeware that gathers information on some of the main devices of your system :
Processor name and number, codename, process, package, cache levels.
Mainboard and chipset.
Memory type, size, timings, and module specifications (SPD).
Real time measurement of each core's internal frequency, memor...
hope I got the right program
was it suppose to install "PC app store"?
nvm I got it
Yeah it's 3200 c16 memory, you need to enable xmp in your BIOS
alright I'll give it a try
I've never tried to overclock ChangXin memory before but based on the SPD data I would guess it wouldn't do well
so I shouldn't do it?
XMP yes, overclocking past that no
XMP may be called by another name, like DOCP or Memory Profile
alright, but I should eventually upgrade the ram?
There's not much point tbh, it would still be slower than even cheap DDR5
That’s what I mean like upgrade the motherboard and ram to DDR5?
You can make that decision after you see how xmp improved it
I’m in bios and it has the option for “xmp profile” is that all I need to click?
Alright then should I just go back to CPU-Z or is there another way to test?
The memory tab will show the speed as 1600 if it applied correctly
Next to DRAM frequency
Then you can try your game again and watch the GPU load
is that close enough?
I dont know what happened but my computer is dying. Everything is freezing and stuttering. the game is using 0% GPU and 15% CPU. I'm not sure what happened but my computer is basically unusable
its improved it might've just been adjusting idk I'm trying to launch the game again
its seems to be taking way longer to load things
If it still doesn't feel right then you should try a memory test next. OCCT from ocbase will run a quick 1 hour test that can catch obvious errors.
It's entirely possible that the memory is just bad. I haven't heard any good things about those Chinese ICs
these are my stats in the game that use to be at 100% CPU and 90% GPU. could this be because of the xmp? I'm also only getting 30 fps
just tested another game, same problem
I swapped off xmp and its still got the same problem so I don't know what I did
Can I install an ssd without the screw?
technically, yes
ideally, no
it will still work even if it's just floating there
but a small bump on the computer and it'll fall out
assuming you have it in a pc case
well, that is only true if there's no heat spreader on the mobo that you can use to keep the m.2 down
or wait, are you talking about a sata 2.5" ssd
if you're talking about that, then yeah you dont need to screw it down
if you'd like, you can use some double sided tape to keep it from banging around if you ever move the pc around, but it's not required for that
I’ll use some electrical tape
If it's a new build the screw is probably in the mobo box
Well, new mobo
If it's open box or used, then someone might have tossed it
mine was prebuilt
Ah
Sometimes they leave a screw in the MOBO if they're nice, or have a box with the extra PSU cables and or screws or whatever
Though I assume you might not have that anymore
It is a very tiny screw after all
Can someone help me I’m trying to see what I need to upgrade my pc I been having problems with my pc and I think it’s time for a upgrade
whats a good motherboard to pair with the ryzen 7 9800x3d ?
What's your budget?
can someone build me a pc (on pcpsrtpicker) within $600-1000 (lower price the better, prefer $600-700) that’s good for ur usual gaming (fortnite, forza 5) 16gb ram 🩵

oh didn't realize 14th gen was the end of it
That 7600x bundle is pretty sweet. Got a friend making a new build so I suggested that to him
would this work if i use RTX 3060
The 3060 is about 40% worse
ah ok
If you want a cheaper gpu get the 7600 for $216
Went up to $230
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/rJBzK8/acer-predator-bifrost-oc-radeon-rx-7600-8-gb-video-card-apbf-arx7600-8g-oc
thank u for the list!
Lowkey want it just to say that I own a GPU that’s a blower and open-air simultaneously just to confuse everybody I talk to 💀
On the cheaper end, B650 Eagle AX for $140, and for the mid range, B650 Aorus Elite AX v2 for $175, and on the expensive end, X870 Pro RS Wifi for $210. All 3 have good enough VRMs for a 9800x3d, although you may have to flash the B650 boards with a usb stick, both of them have flashback (q-flash plus). What you get for the extra price on the B650 Aorus Elite ax is 3 more USB type A ports on rear IO, and 2.5gbps instead of 1gbps ethernet port. What you get for the extra price on the X870 Pro RS Wifi is 2 USB-C ports instead of 1 on the rear IO, while still having 10 type A ports, and the board not needing to be flashed, and wifi 7 instead of 6
i was looking at the MSI X670E MAG Tomahawk earlier is that a good pick?
Compared to the rest of the options, it provides less IO in the form of USB ports, it also may need to flash a new bios, but also has flashback, while being similar in terms of VRMs. There's one upside, having 4 instead of 3 m.2 key M slots, since the Pro RS' 4th m.2 slot is key E and the B650 boards just have 3 m.2 slots.
If you want IO and don't want to spend much money -> B650 Aorus Elite AX
If you want more potential m.2 slots for potentially 4 SSDs instead of 3 -> One of the other X670e or X870 boards, including x670e Tomahawk
If you want general plug and play -> X870 Pro RS Wifi
If you want cheap and works -> B650 Eagle AX
i see
i wanna get the tomahawk line so im thinking MSI MAG X870 TOMAHAWK
thats a plug and play right?
It would be out of box compatible with x3d, but you have to keep in mind that you're paying extra for it
i dont mind tbh
If you like the look, or branding, it's fine as long as you understand you're paying extra just for that and not for the performance
ohhhh
yeah im all for that performance
whats a solid x870 board
like for performance bc im gunna get a 4080 super
This is how little of a difference it would make between tomahawk wifi and pro rs wifi here
0.1% difference, within run to run variation
ill keep that in mind
so the best bang for my buck is the GIGABYTE X870 AORUS ELITE
I wouldn't really call if bang for your buck when it's about $300 and within ~1% performance wise from the $210 Pro RS Wifi, but it is also a good board and has a good amount of IO along with 4 m.2 key m slots
u make fair point plus its alot cheaper too plus i only really use 2 m.2 ssds
alr ill get the Pro RS Wifi,
thanks
You're welcome
personally i stay away from gigabyte considering some of their other products quality and tactics
Meh
Personally, parts are parts
As long as it's reviewed well/known to be good idc what brand it is for the most part
Where are the b650
weren't tested in their x870 roundup, any scores from the b650 roundup wouldn't be directly comparable
Yo can anyone help me decide between the 4080super and the 7900xtx , the 7900xtx is cheaper with more vram and better raw performance , but thr 4080 super (or 4070 ti super ) has better ray tracing , dlss and dlaa .
assume within like 3% for any that didn't throttle, any b650 that did throttle probably loses by 10-20%
The 4080 Super and 4070 Ti Super are two different GPUs
7900xtx still does dx12 ray tracing, also still has FSR, unless you're only playing nvidia optimized titles, xtx is a better buy for gaming
What do I get b650 or x870
Kkk thx
Mainly gaming or do you actually do other things
Gaming
Xtx
Surprised this wasn't censored lmaoo
I’m going with the 7600x3d
Ikr
Dawg why was that the first thing you saw 😭😭🙏
I’ve been on Instagram a lot lately
It was kinda obvious
I have a masters degree in racism now
Same but I can’t use it anymore
make a decision based on this advice lol
If you see yourself using a lot of RT
I don’t
Like I play competitive shooters so ray tracing isn’t huge
there's FSR 3 that will only get better with time

It's out of context delete this 😭💀

Also what do you guys think of the 7600x3d?
It’s a solid cpu
Pause
If you can’t afford the. 7800x3d, it’s worth a buy
I’m getting the 7700x
Good job Dani
how much perf does the 7600X3D get over the X?
Check the google

does this have a fan controller
Included in the package? No
Fan controllers are pretty much never included with a pack of fans
Sometimes they may be nice and include y spitters but it's also rare

Actually
You don't even need a fan hub since that daisy chains with the proprietary connectors
is it possible to only clone windows 11 to a new ssd, and keep all data on that old ssd or will it wipe?
you can do a full clone without wiping the old drive, if that's what you're asking
I reccomend Macruim Reflect
I was doing that but I cancelled it since it was taking a really long time (hours) and I realized that I didn't want to completely transfer everything
are the first two partitions related to windows OS?
Or just the first?
im not sure tbh. I'd probably just install wndows on the new drive and move over whatever you need
First partition is the boot data, second is recovery, third is your main OS, fourth is probably a custom recovery from an OEM with drivers etc
Does this fit in the h9 flow
And is the h9 flow elite or normal better for airflow
Oh I just looked and the elite is more for aesthetics but I’m not sure if it will affect my parts in a negative way
Probably
Yay
In super happy since I’m getting the case I actually want now
I think it’s the h9 flow elite
Flow, or Elite? Two different cases
Neither of which are bad if you asked me. At least it's not the H510 that every new builder would spam
Ik
I’m not stupid
After seeing how it leaves the top I’m getting it since before I thought it wouldn’t work
That 4000D in #tech-deals is also an option unless you're absolutely set on dual-chamber cases
Hissss I want a specific look and the cases I liked are h9 flow/elite, antec c5 and lian li o11
So, dual-chamber
anyone got a pc build for sub 800. my brother gonna give me his 4070
Yeah i got you. You in the US?
And do you have a microcenter nearby?
yes in the to US sadly no microcenters
Perfer black and ethernet
Dope, few min
thankyou
The mobo is one of the low end am5 ones, but at $303 for cpu mobo ram and ssd it's unbeatable value
Ima do a list w/o the bundle so you can compare
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Asus A21 MicroATX Mini Tower
ok
This would be with the bundle from reddit
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VbpsJn
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Asus A21 MicroATX Mini Tower
Should I get the 7900xtx or 7900xt or 7900gre for 4k competitive shooters ?
If you're playing competitive shooters I wouldnt suggest 4k, and that depends on your budget and the rest of your specs
Around 2300-2000
I think 7900xtx but idk if the extra money is worth it compared to the xt
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop Air RGB ATX Mid Tower
For comp shooters maybe not, for general gaming i personally would enjoy it
Although the gre pulls more than plenty for me
hey, if anyone is still in the market for the 9800X3D combo, we just restocked, 800 of them!
discord heard it first haha
I think xt might be better value (gotta double check though), unless you need the extra 4gb vram
If you care about value then the xt, xtx value isnt much worse tho
Gre has amazing value but the deals for it suck rn
...So it doesn't have amazing value right now lol
Xt is $620
Xtx $830
34% more money and I'm pretty sure the perf difference is more like 15, maybe 20%
Oh I think the $620 one is oos
So $640
Still about 30% more for the xtx
Id only recommend it for story games and more setting based experiences
For shooters youd be more than fine with cards from gens ago
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3Lj4C8
anything last call before I buy?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Antec C8 ATX Full Tower
isn't there an antec case w fans at 110-130 and same aesthetic?
Also if you already have a 1440p high refresh, why buy a second?
mini led
dang it yesterday the c8 was in stock for 119 and now they dont have it anymore
If you could squeeze another $210 you could go OLED. But $190 for mini led seems pretty good too
210 bucks or $20 more?
190+210=400 for OLED currently on sale
sure I will prob use my Acer Nitro XV1 when I build it, and then will prob have enough money to buy the oled
what is it?
The $400 is a sale though and might not stick around, just a heads up
Hopefully it can stay for about 7 days
They will be coming
I'd say PROBABLY in early to mid 25
When the next gen OLED panels release current gen slides down to potentially midrange
Which makes early OLEDs available at the entry level
Since c8 isn’t in stock will c5 fit?
Any good cheap m.2s? I have one that is perfect 1TB but need more storage and I'd like it to be fast storage but within a good price range. Thanks in advance.
Should I get the 7600x3d or the 7800x3d with the 7900xt for 4k competitive shooters
I don't know much but why are you going 4k for competitive games?
Idk fun
What I know is that in 4k the cpu matter more less than in 1080p. So make sure to get a good gpu for whatever game you're aiming to play competitively in. and watch benchmarks for it with the cpu you choose i.e 7600x3d
I personally wouldn't go anything over 7600x3d for 4k. Wait for more knowledgeable people responses to make sure.
I did it seems like a 10-40 fps difference
Depending
But for cod it seems around 20
If you reach your monitor hz. It doesn't matter how high you get above that imo.
So if that gets you enough frames for your hz. Go for it and save money for something else.
I would go with dual monitor setup if I were you, 4k and 2k since not all games are runnable at high refresh rate on 4k display. Personal preference.
Normally true, but I personally target the 1% lows to be at the refresh rate in shooters
I am looking to buy a new processor and motherboard for Black Friday this year, what are the best deals. I would like to spend not spend much more than $500
Does anybody have any recommendations?
It won't make a difference
At 4k you will be very gpu bound
7600/x or 13600kf atm
If you've got a microcenter the 7600x3d bundle
Probably said this already but I'll say it again, you will be much better off at 1440p than 4k
1440p OLED is also on sale rn and oled response times are lower than VA/IPS panels
Yeahhhhh but still if I wanted to play campaign or somthing or was just messing around
I still don’t know if I should get the 7900xtx or if the 7900xt is good enough for me cus I’m using the 7600x3d from micro
7900xt is still a very high tier card lol
Sure the xtx gets a good crack more perf, but its hard to be disappointed at this range
And like I said earlier, I think right now the xt has better price/perf than the xtx
Yup
For like 4k on black ops 6 multiplayer I know I gets around 90fps and that’s good enough right ?
You'd really want to do 1440p for BO6 multi
You would get an advantage from the higher refresh rate
^^
The 4090 struggles to push over 100 fps at max settings in multiple titles
I think a few it had issues doing 60 lmao
Yep
If you're looking for competitive good numbers, you don't do 4K
Also XTX > 4090 for COD
4K still not worth it though unless you use a huge as hell TV
Lol
Ppi is so dense at 1440p on a normal monitor that you need extremely good eyes to see the difference
Sorry went to bed
You could try macrium reflect to create a recovery drive
There's tutorials on youtube for that
It can fix the bootloader potentially
But if that fails then yeah, it's a complete reinstall or an in-place reinstall/repair
can anyone help me find a good prebuild on newegg? I have a budget of $1500 and I'm not necessarily looking at all to build my own pc for right now or in the near future
the only thing I'm really looking forward to doing on it is to play some intensive games like the new stalker or tarkov or black ops 6
I heard yeyian or skytech are good but im not sure.
Any particular reason you can't build?
For new builders, it'll take around 2-3 hours usually, and it's really just a game of "does this fit in this" and if the answer is yes without excessive force, and it looks like it fits there, then it's probably the right place
@timber canopy
I don't think you can get a prebuilt for 1500 USD that's going to run Stalker 2 for you
At least not ones that are worth getting
But you can very much build one that you also know how to maintain
Like the performance difference is massive for a prebuilt vs a custom PC
The upcharges can get really, really big even with builders that are good
We can put together a list for you that's gonna trounce the price to perf
Or watch this year's Secret Shopper from LTT and order from the winner
But even then I'd not recommend prebuilt 99% of the time
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tcRD8Q
Here's a 1440p build on AM5 with a top-end GPU that's likely gonna trounce any prebuilt at this price
I could probably optimize it further, but it works already
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Will a 750w work with an 9800x3d & 7900xt
how do i make sure its good lol
What is it?
I can tell you if it's something I know about
Cultist tier list should be pinned in #cases-psu-and-cooling
Asus ROG Strix 750 W 80+ Gold Certified Fully Modular ATX Power Supply
That's an A-tier
It's gonna be fine
oki just clicked some pc part list for high end pc and it was 850w and I got scared
That's the recommendation based on something like an i9 or R9 processor
Manufacturers always overestimate power needs to cover their butts
7900xt should be fine on a decent 650w with a low power cpu like the 7800x3d
It's a 9800X3D
That goes to like 125w
I'd be more comfortable with a 750
But ye it's a good 750 so it's definitely good
Would a GTX Titan X for $95 be a solid choice for a cheap build?
I think a 1070 is faster, and can be had for $75ish on ebay
What about the 4GB of extra vram?
I mean
That just helps with textures, so it’s probably not that great.
Maxwell 2.0 is aging at this point
what games are you planning on playing on a sub-$100 gpu that need more than 8gb vram?
^this is sort of rhetorical
off the top of my head i want to say yes
Seems like a maybe 5%~ uplift.
Ultimately, besides some health problems that could be a risk, I could definitely build one myself. The thing it comes down to is that although my budget is $1500, it's not something I can drop on a one-time purchase. A monthly plan with one big bill is something I can easily manage and definintely pay off within a year when I'm given an estimate of how much I'm going to pay each month for the $1500.
I could definitely do something like $2000 but yeah, the main thing it comes down to is the fact that I'm able to pay monthly
I forget, does ebay offer monthly payments?

I’m planning on buying a few things to help me get started on buying for components for a pc, I was just wondering if I get a 4070 ti super what cpu should I get with these Black Friday deals?
I wouldnt do the ti super, but 7600/x, 78/9800x3d, or 13/14600k/kf
Why is that?
It's just poor value
It's never gone below 700, and even at that price it's $80 more than the 7900xt is rn, for the same perf and less vram
I am getting a amd am5 processor, what motherboard should I get?
The 4070 super and 4080 super were much better priced compared to the 7900 gre and 7900xtx than the ti super to the 7900xt
B650m hdv (not the crappy one), b650m pro rs, b650 eagle ax, or b650e riptide wifi
Ascending in price, any could handle any am5 cpu fine
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600
B650m hdv linked in there
Others you can find w Google I'm sure
So what gpu should I get that’s better or is similar to the 4070 ti super
I was originally planning on getting that deal, I just don't want too cheap of a motherboard
We have also seen 4080 down to 800ish
The hdv is fantastic
It holds the world record oc with a 7950x
Okay I’ll look into it, I still got a bit of saving to do but I really want to get some things that are on a huge sale right now like the cpus and monitors
What do you have saved atm?
$2k
You can easily build a full pc with a great monitor for that
I can make a general idea rq
hmmm 7900xtx for 936.48 with tax or 7900xt for 674.68 with tax
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 7900 XT, Fractal Design Pop Air RGB ATX Mid Tower
Well I don’t want to blow all the money I got right now because I still got to get things like a desk, keyboard and mouse, chair, all that good stuff
$250 difference for 15% performance
Check that list out rq
Monitor either
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vyqrxr/dell-g2724d-270-2560-x-1440-165-hz-monitor-g2724d
oki so wait on 5090 or 8000 👍
Leaves you $500 for everything else, could save some for some games, upgrade the gpu or cpu, idk you do you its your money
sad u took my c8 case
now I have to buy c8 with fans
Hehehhe
Was my plan all along
I'm going to return it right after you order yours
:D
I dont know, I’ve just never dealt with amd or ryzen, I’ve always played on intel and Nvidia, and I’m just really trying to future proof everything so I dont have to upgrade anything for a while
On a laptop that is
Cpu i 100% would suggest not caring about brand. Gpu i can understand
Cpu doesn't affect user experience whatsoever, and am5 allows upgradability
You could do a 13600kf, but you'll need a new mobo when it comes time to swap cpu
Ill grab some gpu options, are you open to open box/refurbs?
With warranty
I stay away from open box and refurbished items, always had terrible experiences with that kind of stuff
Got a refurbished item one time and both times still had peoples stuff logged into it
Still feel like linking this since i alr grabbed it
https://www.zotacstore.com/us/zt-d40730d-10-o
2 years warranty (shipped in generic box with no accessories)
And it does have 2yr warranty directly through zotac, but i understand
Part List - Intel Core i5-13600KF, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, Fractal Design Pop Air RGB ATX Mid Tower
New 4070 ti super link in there
Okay bet, I seen an i7-14700k on Newegg in the deals for Black Friday and it had a free 1tb ssd with it? Price was $360 is that a good deal?
Not really, unless you're doing more than just gaming and typical pc use
Does this mean that I should get Asrock?
The 14600kf i think has the same ssd with it, that would be better value
Brand is irrelevant
But yes the asrock b650m bdv is perfectly fine
I was wrong about the deal, it was an asus prime b650-plus wifi
This is $340 now, id do that instead
Neither mobo is good but this one's a lil bit better if I remember right
if it isnt good, then I wont do the deal
So what a bad mobo means
Not a ton of ports, and the cpus vrms, or power delivery isn't great, or isn't cooled very well
With a 7600/x, you dont need great vrms since it's not a high power cpu
If you plan to upgrade, 9800x3d pulls around 120w peak, which that mobo will be at its limit but could handle it
I am fine with paying more for a better motherboard, I am just not sure which one to get
A better mobo could easily handle over 120w, like the HDV, pro rs, eagle ax or riptide
What's your budget for the whole build, or the parts you're replacing
I'm planning on getting a new ssd, processor, motherboard, and ram for about $400-700
1-2tb?
I think I have already decided on the samsung 990 pro 2TB and the AMD Ryzen 5 7600x
990 pro i wouldnt bother with
Pcie 5.0 is useless for anyone considering a 6 core cpu, and it's 5.0 x2 instead of x4
Which means it's limited to gen 4 speeds with gen 5 advertising slapped onto it
it says it is gen4
For gaming, you don't need a high end ssd. The m482 at $90 will perform identically to the 990
Oh then it's the 990 evo that's gen 5
Still, same difference. There's also multiple cheaper ssds with the same specs like m480 pro, 530r, s70, gm7000 and some others when they go on sale
Yeah $160 is too much for a 2tb drive
Thats the same tier as the 990 pro
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X
The i5 I have in my laptop I think is the 13600 and it just seems a little slow to me, would it be better to go with the i7 I previously told you about? I also don’t want anything I get to prevent something else from being at its fullest potential
What motherboard should I get with my current setup though?
Also what does this likewise protection plan on Newegg cover? Does it cover accidental and surge?
How far do you live from a micro center?
Spent around 440 for a b650m ax Aorus board, 7600x, and 32gb g.skill ddr5 ram. CPU was $98 dollars with the bundle, paid extra for a different motherboard than what was included in the deal
Thank you I will look into it, do you know of any similar to this on another website, esp newegg because that one has the monthly payment thing I typically use.
Any laptop i5 is going to be miles slower than a 13600kf
The 14700k performs 3-5% better in games. It's nowhere near worth the extra cost and heat
I can take a look
I gave you four options and linked two of them in pcpartpicker lists
Respectfully, figure it out
Thank you
Can anyone tell me if this is a good build or not https://newegg.io/5a2f092
bruh
3.6k....
so not a good build then?
it certainly could be better
change the aio to an arctic liquid freezer or smth like that
you dont need the extra thermal paste, the cooler will include some
someone here could probably make you a much better value build while still keeping some aesthetics
ok im just going for pure performance i dont really care how it look
oh 100% can do cheaper
and if you want 4090 performance, imo id buy a cheaper gpu and wait for 5080/5090
corsair is one of the brands that you should avoid if you want value lmao
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4090, Fractal Design Pop Air RGB ATX Mid Tower
when is the 5090 releasing anyways
ive been told early next year
probably 2-3 months then
im worried that tarrifs will make everything hella expensive
5090 already was leaked to have a msrp of 2k anyways
fairly likely to be that
and possibly could be scalped for even higher
💀
if 5080 doesn't beat the 4090 at cheaper i cry
remember when the top end gpu was only $800 ong
only 4 generations ago
💀
though tbf
people back then were sometimes spending like 2k on their gpus as well since sli still existed
can we just hit the reset button on the whole world
real
tbf xx90 replaced Titan which were def more than $800
Though even accounting for inflation I think gpus have gotten more expensive
I think it was gtx/rtx Titan
hmmm
i remember the 20 series titan as titan rtx rather than rtx titan
it could just be me not remembering correctly though
and/ or games have gotten more demanding
Yeah that sounds right
oh
they randomly removed gtx from it
lmao
literally got into pcs the year they removed gtx from it 😭
well, not got into pcs, i got into pc building the year they removed gtx from it
i've been pcmasterrace all my life but never really looked into pc building until 2016
IDE cables scared me
i didnt have the choice (nor my parents had the money lol) for me to grow up with computers
i had a very high end system frfr
pentium 4 with not 1 but 2gb of ram
4 whole 512mb sticks of ddr2
frfr
my first pc was a gt 1030 i5-3470
(that pc was kinda old at the time i got it lmao)
wait do laptops count
my first pc was a 7900 gre 7600x
laptops count
wait a second...
bc if they do i had an i3-4030u laptop
my first laptop was in 2014
had the cursed intel atom cpu
technically it wasnt classified as a laptop, but a netbook
mine was a hannukah gift from my grandma bc it was too difficult for her to learfn to use it
oh shoot then my first was a pink aa HP laptop that got stolen a month after i got it when our house got broken into
i took it apart and there's not even a heatsink on that cpu
it's literally a fan blowing on a thin sheet of like alu that is thermal pasted to the cpu die
that was apparently enough to cool it

mine was a crappy old used one my mom snagged from someone at her work
F
mine was a gift for passing level 4 piano or whatever
shouldve passed level 5
lol
i wish i learned the piano when i was younger
instead i was insane and learned the french horn
pretty hard to learn that
i loved it especially because i was left handed
piano isnt as hard since you dont have to plrrp into the mouthpiece at a certain frequency to get the right note lmfao
oh you have no idea how much plurrpping youre doing into the mouth piece, learning how to play in certain temperatures, dealing with spit valves etc
genuine nightmare fuel LMAO
i enjoyed it tho
💀
once you become a decent musician for any one instrument, you should be fairly easily be able to fafo till you figure out how to play another instrument at a beginner level at least lmao
french horn and trombone both have that "i want to fall into a deep slumber" affect where all the oxygen in your lungs evaporate
trumpet players have it easy fr fr
💀
true, but im too lazy to relearn notes for other instruments lol
plus i had to sell my horn
and they pricey ASF
i know how to play twinkle twinkle little star on a cello even though i've never learned any bow instruments
i dont play it well
but it sounds like twinkle twinkle little star

real
not on cello, piano
lmao
id love to play the cello tbh
you're practically a pianist already
fr
practicing flight of the bumblebees tomorrrow ong
ong
but first you need to warm up with all 240 hanon exercises
my mom is a nanny for rich people who cant bother to take care of their kids and they just let us take their nice friggen keyboard because their kids didnt like it anymore
damn i cant find it but i saw a kinda hilarious skit that someone did that was like "that one friend that has to warm up with all of hanon every time before playing"
idek if it's even actually hilarious or what, since i saw it like 3 years ago at this point
💀
Hi guys, what changed since May in gaming laptops/PC building?
ryzen 9000 series launched
any 9800X3D laptops to expect soon?
i dont think x3d has been in laptops yet
ok, is it impossible?
probably
it could have been
impossible? no
practical? also no
If they ever make a 9800X3D on mobile It'd probably be a 9800HX or something
with significantly lower power requirements
Just realized i said probably, meant probably not lol
Is it comparable to desktop X3D?
literally?
As far as the power allows yes
damn
If you were jank with it you could probably run it untapped with exotic cooling
really shows how efficient zen 4 is eh?
I mean
Likely comparable to 7950X3D eco mode
Mhm
13900HX is literally a laptop soldered 13900K
Not really anything special here
My 7820HK was a 7700K soldered to a laptop
It's amazing how far laptops have come since Turing gpus came onto mobile
laptops can be comparable to desktops now at a similar price point
what's better for $: this
or this?
if playing stalker on high fullscreen is the goal
Bruh shorten those links I’m not reading all that
how
remove like 90% of the link
almost all of that link is just tracking information
you just need the text right before the question mark
so you can actually trim the link even more

Your best expectation from any laptop in 2024 is 60fps on 1080p high
I would set your sights lower
Game runs like dogwater
yeah that's what I want
Not worth buying a laptop to do that
That's a 4K+ laptop
You could build a desktop that could do that for a third of the price
I travel often
Again, you could build a desktop that could do that for a third of the price
ITX box
Or a tower you stream from at home to a normal laptop
Paying $20 extra for an additional carryon if you needed that btw, you'd take about 100 trips before that'd ever make the money back
Which
If you pack smart, won't be necessary
alright, thank you

Not even talking used parts here
will a micro atx mobo look weird in a full towner case
feel like there going to big gap from the case fan to gpu
yes
also full towers are somewhat rare
most desktops you see are mid towers
matx already looks pretty tiny in a mid tower
sooo can I get a white mobo lol
Aw yeah we're faster in canadian now
Faster eh

Don't think I can do better than that unless I pull used parts
Though if I did
I could probably get it down to like, 1400-ish
thank you, insightful
Np
I'll be fair in saying I didn't look at the article at first so wasn't aware the laptop is used, but yeah, I still can find better value in avoiding that route
And there's a future prospect to an itx box as well
They're less fragile than a laptop
And they're upgradeable
Unlike the laptop which is a one and done routine
SF1000L should let you run most of any combination as well so it's not slacking as a build in general
You pack them with a mouse, mini keyboard and a hdmi cable in tow
You roll up to a hotel and just plug it into the tv
Or take a portable monitor
Other thing you can do is if you already have a good laptop with thunderbolt and a good cpu, you can look into egpu for a halfway house solution
One of the only situations it makes sense is tons of travel
Have you tried a projector instead of the monitor?
Projector works yeah
hmm im just going to return the micro mobo and buy the full size one
