Nvidia control panel maybe
Guess it's a coincidence then, unless the driver is set to override it
Application max frame rate or that
G-sync on the nvidia control panel is on
That's different on a fundamental level
Ik i was just saying that was the only thing on lol
Well whatever as long as it doesnt lag
Gsync good tho
Which is off in game
It really is just a weird coincidence then
Might be yeah
165 fps is good on ultra 1440p at any rate
Well i just ran it again after setting everthying at ultra. I guess this game is alittle old to me running a benchmark and expecting it to make my pc struggle
If you want a more accurate measure of gaming related performance you can grab the 3Dmark Time Spy demo off of steam and it'll tell you if it's performing as expected
Im pretty tight on money rn how much does it cost?
It's free
For the demo
PC gaming is a quest for performance, a never-ending cycle of upgrading, overclocking, and tweaking your system for faster frame rates, higher resolutions, and better quality visual effects.3DMark is essential equipment for this quest. For more than 20 years, 3DMark has been the first choice for benchmarking, testing, and comparing PC performanc...
$34.99

Alright i found it! Yeah i dont think ill buy the full thing anytime soon
Is there anything that i should do before running the test
It goes on sale for 5 bucks at least once a year
No changes required, it'll scan your system specs and monitor everything automatically during the test
Oh? Normally what time would say?
Do i run Steel Nomad?
It wasnt sadly
Guess they changed it with the new benchmarks then
Yeah run steel nomad
It'll still give you stats at the end
Yes. The average score for your hardware is 4867, you scored 4803.
Good average. To get higher you need to overclock.
Oh yeah im not comfortable with doing that anymore. I would defiantly need brush up on some stuff before that. But first i need to figure out why i cant play modded Mc, LoL, or Ark without crashing. Its been driving me crazy
Nvm time spy is here i just didnt go to benchmarks. I just saw Steel Nomad on the home page
Here's mine running at stock settings for comparison. Very close in score as expected for 2 very similar GPUs.
Average for time spy too. That includes a CPU test which is why I default to it.
This makes me feel good atleast
How long do i own the demo?
It's a demo
My cpu got pretty toasty there lol
Well thats comes with the kind of cpu i have if i remember right
Damn right i remember that when getting it and running it for the first time. Thing gets stupid hot! lol
Should i run any others like fire strike or whatever?
Luckily it's only when every core is slammed 100% that it gets that hot, gaming is fine mostly
Nah fire strike is getting pretty old
You could if you wanted though
Which test was the one that would crash some Pc's back a few years ago?
Oh are you talking about the Intel crashing issues?
That was a whole rabbit hole that just recently we can call "resolved"
Probably i just remember seeing videos on it
Or maybe furmark, which was melting GPUs
There's also resolved issues of crashing due to memory errors on all platforms, turns out early batches of DDR5 weren't great
I think it was 3Dmark when they looked in the mirror on time spy or something. And then something with pirates and an island š¤
Ran it because why not
Intel was just because their CPUs were built different and they shoved too much voltage into them
https://www.microcenter.com/product/652921/glorious-model-d-pro-edition-wireless-gaming-mouse-(pink)
Do I get the hot pink mouse..
nvm it's absolute š©
Built for friend
Yo clean. Put that in #build-pics
Got much better, thanks to case
it still happens without it plugged
but funny story
my computer died
same day i sent that message
completely died
it doesn't even show the indicator led when i plug in the power cable
no response at all
i think its a short circuit
is that fixable
or is it over forme
and
is it possible that my ssd is safe
bro my data is of atmost importance
i sent it to a technician who spent like almost a whole week waiting for an ic ( does he mean an integrated circuit? , what integrated circuit ? , i still don't know what he did ) but at the end said he couldn't do nothing
anythoughts
Yes ic is integrated circuit
And I believe someone else had suggested a potential short last time we talked so that's def possible
Pretty good chance the SSD is ok I'd say
yea i've read that
do you think i can revive it
or no more gaming
š
untill i get a job that is
I honestly don't know much about PC repairs
i always felt like there something that got inside or that there is something lose cuz the issue was always related to movement
like moving the laptop around'
or hold parts down
but there is nothing wrong from the outside
and i was too afraid to delve too deep inside and remove the heat sink
and i don't have thermal paste around
and at this point since am not getting anything from the laptop am not sure if that will even fix it at all
i heard that if i remove the heatsink i should probably repaste it , but i dont have thermal paste around rn , will it be find to just put the heat think back on if i end up removing it , just to test if it will work?
Once the heatsink is off, you need new paste
Once the seal breaks between the cpu and heatsink, it won't cool properly
if it's not booting at all the issue probably aint the heatsink
^^
Heatrise
i ment that i need to remove the heat sink to access deeper parts of the laptop
to see what the issue is
because for me to see the other side of the mother board it will require removing the heatsink
then try to boot , if it just boots up , then ill turn it off and buy some thermal paste
The default answer for a Razer product is "no"
Iirc its fine? Just expensive
36 still feels kinda expensive
Its a pretty typical webcam quality webcam from memory
Could get a logi one or just use your old phone
The only Razer product to say yes to is the death adder essential
36 bucks
hmmm
honestly
for 36 bucks? that's not bad
not worth at msrp
but 36? honestly a fine webcam for 36 bucks
Alright I dug up we of my first gaming PC parts. I got these when i was 14 and didn't know anything about PC building other than "parts cost money". An athlon X4 845, 16gb ram (that I got later honestly don't know when) and some random GPU I shoved on it because none of these have an igpu. The motherboard is the only difference and what I'll be throwing awayz but which do i keep? One is a asrock A58 board. Its some weird form factor called mini dtx, basically just mini itx with a little more board at the bottom to accommodate one more pcie slot. Its chipset is weak, stupid, and wasn't even wanted at release and only has 2 ram slots... but it is basically mini itx which allows it to be in such a small case. The other board is a gigabyte A88X micro atx board. Much better chipset, 4 ram slots, but its micro atx which kinda kills any potential for a small build (well, unless I pay a chunk of change for a new case and an sff PSU. For context I got this case for $35 on sale).
Do I keep the smaller build for having a sff PC, or the larger one for having an actually halfway decent motherboard? Or option 3, do I scrap both because fm2+ sucks?
Keep
Is there a real reason to ditch either? They're not really worth selling unless you're in dire need of $25 and they can be fun to play around with. Honestly, I'd take one to put Windows XP on it and play vintage PC games with since compatibility mode is fairly awful, especially on older games that relied on DOS. Even DOSbox isn't perfect.
It's also fun overclocking on older platforms and not worrying about killing expensive parts
I mean, funny you should say that, cleaning my office/backroom at the workplace I found a system with an i7 3770, which also happens to be windows xp compatible. Even found a pentium 4 631 PC to throw windows 98 at for pure dos fun.
So I am literally swimming in old PCs. I don't think i can keep em all
If the reason is that you're running out of room then perhaps it is better to keep the smaller build, or neither.
Iāll take one
Put it in a nice case, add a gpu of questionable performance and put it up on ebay as a gaming pc for 10Ć the value

Real
Hey guys, I am looking for some build advice. Not sure if it's too early, but I am looking to build around a 9800x3d and was wanting to maximize performance while making sure that everything is still compatible. I don't care much about extra RGB. I am okay with getting minimal RGB and maximizing performance. This will be my first PC build from scratch, so I want to make sure I am getting the best setup for my money before I start buying parts.
My budget for just the computer parts is around $2000 USD. I am willing to go a little over if it will be a pretty big difference, but would like to stick around that price point. I don't live near a Microcenter, so I would be ordering online. I mainly play MMO's and Riot games, so I would like to optimize performance for those mainly. At this price point would I be better off trying to go for 4k monitors and still be able to hit 120+ fps on MMO's with a lot of people in an area or would I be better off just going for 2k monitors? If so would I be able to get a recommendation on monitors too for 4k or 2k (whichever would be best for the build). I apologize for asking so much in a single message. I appreciate any help I can get on this!
7900xtx is a clear winner here right?
Is the 2000 including peripherals or
Nvm just the computer parts
Fal cie can help here better than i lol
4k makes the 9800X3D pointless unless you're also getting a 4090, which costs the entire budget. 1440p would be good for MMOs.
It'll be tight but you could probably do 9800X3D + 7900 XTX, I'll double check game benches to see if Riot's engine prefers one brand or another.
1440p is more than plenty enough for most users, unless you want say a 32" monitor
And for MMOs you don't even want a monitor that big
At minimum a 2tb SSD if you're downloading modern mmos
Do you need any extras like wifi, extra USB C ports, etc?
Here's what I've got including a monitor recommendation so far https://pcpartpicker.com/list/bxLXsp
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
Valorant doesn't favor either major GPU brand and LoL runs at 500 fps on a potato
1440p is perfectly fine with me. I donāt need WiFi, or any other extras I can think of. Is there a reason you recommend the 7900 xtx over any of the nvidia cards?
I donāt play valorant a ton I am playing mmoās 99% of the time anyways so building for that seems like it would be best
It's cheaper than the comparable Nvidia option at the price while also being slightly better on average. The only downside to it is slightly worse ray tracing, which it doesn't sound like you're doing anyway.
In my experience most MMOs will run very CPU limited so you should be able to turn up all the graphical settings to max and get similar fps to medium
There's a few graphical settings that do impact the CPU like special effects settings
Ok I was just curious. I have been recommended the 7900xtx from a couple different people, but I have always used nvidia. I have no issue with it I just didnāt know the reason
Is there much of a difference between this monitor and the one you added to the list?
The one I put is OLED which is hands down the best monitor tech that currently exists. No input latency, no smearing/ghosting with fast movement, great colors, perfect contrast.
If you're looking for a more budget oriented one I can find that too
Yeah sure, if you could do that just to compare the two. I am willing to upgrade but wouldnāt mind looking at a more budget monitor rather than the oled and I can replace my current one (the one I linked)
Thinking itās worth it to atleast upgrade to 240hz
At 1440p
If that's your target this would be the cheapest one I would consider acceptable https://pcpartpicker.com/product/9MHqqs/gigabyte-gs27q-x-270-2560-x-1440-250-hz-monitor-gs27q-x
It's not HDR, if you want the extra brightness and colors you'll need to pay the premium
they have like 5 of these on sale & I was looking into then
synapse, the best software ever totally fries the camera into an auto focus spazam, lighting issues, and with it being discontinued, there's going to be no support for it if razer synapses updates decide to fry the software a bit more
otherwise it's a pretty decent camera without the software at 1080p/60fps
on the fence considering it's razer & if I really need it or not
At least an old phone as a webcam won't have those issues
My question is how do you set up an old phone as a camera like that lol
Download an app
I use droidcam
And it just turns it into basically a wireless webcam you can connect to and use
You'll also need like a small tripod or something to set it up
Ok great. I appreciate your help on this. I will probably end up going with the original monitor you linked to get as much out of the build as possible. I have one more question about this photo. The only compatibility issue is just updating the bios. I would just update this on setup and it will be good to go with everything else in the build?
Didnāt realize I couldnāt post pictures, but this is the message -
Warning: The ASRock B650M Pro RS Micro ATX AM5 Motherboard supports the AMD Ryzen 7
9800X3D 4.7 GHz 8-Core Processor with BIOS version
3.10. If the motherboard is using an older BIOS version, updating the BIOS will be necessary to support the CPU.
Id recommend looking at some oleds at 1440p, that monitor is very top of the class but you dont need to spend that much when diminishing returns very much starts to peep its head out
Ive seen some at 400 recently
You could easily get two for about 1000 and have a dual monitor setup which i think is just way more beneficial for a marginal loss imo
Since im assuming you arent buying all of this now id just keep a tab here for good monitor deals
Ok I will probably end up waiting until Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals for a monitor. I currently have 2 monitors that will work for now. Thank you
Aye np, hope you find some good deals and best of luck
Hey everyone im completely new to general PC stuff and builds i wanna transition from my PS5 i have a budget of around 2-2.3k dollars if anyone is willing to recommend me the best build fit for the price it would be appreciated
Id want to ask some questions first
Specifically
Wifi or ethernet?
What's the pc being used for, just gaming from the sound of it?
Do you have a microcenter nearby?
Any preference for aesthetic, color, rgb, or size?
Ethernet and mostly gaming
Dont know what a microcenter is but i dont mind aesthetics or colors etc. im not the kinda guy to be specific about those
Are you in the US?
If so I'd check Google maps for a microcenter
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
No, at least not currently
is this better than the intel i9?
Ah alr. What country? Prices and parts availability vary a lot
Yes, but its not out yet. The 7800x3d is, and is about 15% worse
Just low stock
A 7600/x might be a good temporary choice and then upgrade down the line when x3d prices normalize
Saudi Arabia
But studying in the US next year
Yes it would just need a BIOS update. The Pro RS motherboard has the flashback feature to make that easier.
Ok perfect. I have your part list saved and ready to go. I appreciate all of your help on this!
as a heads up, intel and amd cpu naming schemes suck, i9 doesnt neccessarily mean its their newest line, let alone best available, there are i9s tracing back to 2017
could also be worth waiting on gpu releases next year, maybe just grabbing the 7800X3D and based on pricing the 8000 series or if nvidia actually decides to have any value for money the 5000 series
i would also recommend waiting until you get into the US before these purchases, for one would be one less thing to pack but also because of availabilities sake
hope you enjoy the pc world, the freedom of it is worth the money in the long term imo
look at some pc building guides and learn a bit about the general functions of a pc so youre a bit more prepared
and remember, pcpartpicker is your best friend on compatibility
wait only 2017? feels like it's been around for longer
though 2017 was... about..... 8....... years...... ago.....

My PC isn't posting randomly. Left it on all night, which I don't normally do, and when I came back to it today all my peripherals were off including my monitors. Tried the reset button no change. Held power button and turned back on no change. Unplugged and discharged for 30 seconds no change. Not getting bios screen or anything. The lights in the case come on including the little debug light and it's the normal color so not sure what's going on. Any help would be appreciated
Looks like the newest part, my 4070 ti isn't spinning but has lights on
Lovely
Spins up at first then stops
Reseated the entire gpu no change
?cmos
Haven't done that yet, how do you do that again?
?cmos
How to clear CMOS (works for AMD and Intel)

W
I guess it doesn't work when you reply to someone
Ah
Tried touching the pins together and taking the battery out for 5 minutes but nc
Apparently the white light means vga
Damn
I found out that elgatos cam hub works, you just download an app on your phone, Bluetooth, WiFi, or connect it to your pc and itās linked
Only issue is, I canāt find my iPhone 6 Plus & I have no clue if an old phone like that would even be able to support any app
So unless you have an āoldā iPhone X, the elgato method might not work
Do you have specs of your build? Curious
Yeah
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 5800X, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti, Fractal Design Meshify C ATX Mid Tower
So when you boot, I assume lights n all come on from the motherboard or any part that has lights, but no fan spins?
Whether itās GPU, Case, CPU?
Is your OS on the hard drive?
There's s white light on the MB which according to the manual means vga
Or on the m.2
The sk hynix ssd
Okay well
This is a very fetched out idea
But it might be your mobo thatās dead.
I was thinking that too
Iāve heard about it from a random YT short, itās the asus white death light for the am4 series
Hold on
I have my dp connected to the MB with GPU out of the system and still not getting anything
You don't have an igpu
I thought maybe it would still go to bios
Yep
Just ram which I'm not sure will work
Well I guess I have an old 1050 ti low profile card
Try swapping out the gpu, I donāt think itās your ram
God I hope it's not gpu
Yeah
Solid
Iād still switch GPUs then and use hdmi, Iām reading the comments and basically the issues go from one way to another. Some saying itās the DP cord being the issue, or how itās a bad connection with DP, possibly ram seating, the motherboard being absolutely kaka, etc
You can easily rule out a gpu issue & that DP issue with the 1050ti.
Dude I have no idea how to take this GPU out
The 1050ti
This PC doesn't have the clip you push down or screws
But when I pull nothing happens
Got it
Crazy
My gf and I if we were graphics cards
big difference
i was about to say a joke but ill pass
š
igpus ftw
Put new GPU in tried dp and HDMI doing the same thing
So more than likely your motherboard is the issue
Sounds like it, thanks for looking into this with me
Whatās a good pc I could get for a 1000$?
Building yourself or pre built
Myself
With or w/o peripherals
Amd or nvidia for starters
Are you in the US, and if so do you have a microcenter nearby?
What's the pc being used for?
Wifi or ethernet?
Any preference for color, rgb, or size?
What do mean like colors? And rgb
Mouse, keyboard, and monitor
Headphones, monitors etc
And one last question, would you order a cpu off aliexpress, 7500f? It's well reviews and trustworthy as long as the seller is trustworthy (plenty of yt videos) and is great value
Gonna go ahead and say for 1000 bucks alone a 7700xt would probs be a good option
How are the bundles looking rn
I do not have a micros center near me and yes Iām from the us used for gaming call of duty and black ops 6 and WiFi decently size one and some rbg
When you say some do you want to pay more for say rgb on ram or cpu cooler or would just case fans be fine

Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 6800 XT, Thermaltake View 200 TG ARGB ATX Mid Tower
7700xt also a fine choice just kinda overpriced rn
Ssd is free with the cpu on newegg
6800xt is more than competent as well
And there's a lot of good used, refurb, and open box gpus if you're open to those
No I got that stuff
Nah not aliexpress unfortunately
Another question is do you plan to get this now or is this for a future build
Because bundles come and go
Imo were going to be seeing better deals more often very soon
How much more is the 7700xt
Cheaper but worse perf
Also newer gen support
Sometime soon
But not worth the trade off imo
Oh
U guys would recommend this one though?
6800xt is 2020 if i recall correctly?
Shows something is 0.00$
Its part of a bundle
Yeah the ssd is free with the cpu on newegg
Thats the ssd
I also feel like these are worth mentioning
https://www.ebay.com/itm/156404825193?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=92chrSivS8C&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=r8em-zv_qyc&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
You'd want to upgrade ram and add more storage though
Earnestly id get this and just grab the cpu deal and do a swapsies lol
So what setup should I get? š
Do you want to squeeze out as much as you can with the 1000?
Or grab one of those and make the process a bit more streamlined
Grab one of what?
Wasnāt sure who u where talking to
If you want best performance and experience, the DIY list is best
Although you'll get better value if you wait a few weeks imo
Or buy parts when deals pop up over the next few weeks
I post deals i find in tech deals (you can scroll through, it's excessive) so you could even turn alerts on for that channel to see if anything pops up
r/buildapcsales is also great

This is also really good
https://computers.woot.com/offers/msi-aegis-r-13th-desktop
Would still need a ram upgrade tho
Half the savings comes from not buying windows fr
But not bad for a 4070 and a good processor
1tb can always be upgraded and used as a secondary in the future
Airflow looks a bit awkward on the front tho tbh
If you just wanna run cod thatll be more than enough
Wouldnt recommend 4k but 1440p and 1080p is more than enough for most games on max
Buying ram, DDR5 6400 for the 9800x3d, what sticks should I hit
I usually go Gskill, so looking at the z5's non royals this time
I went royals last time
Ah crap.
Guys.
I just finished building a new pc right.
Turns on, works
But*
It shows no output
And
Itās not working with any mouse or keyboard I connect to it.
@mossy venture
@obsidian wigeon
Help please.
š
I used the motherboard u told me to buy bacca
All parts are new.
(The ram, Gpu, and cpu, have been used in another build, but have been in it for less than 4 months)
I'm not capable of helping at the moment I'm sorry. Tmrw if no one else does
Been crying
Sorry to hear that, hope everything gets better soon
What motherboard and CPU?
Are there any lights lit on the motherboard?
Where do you have the video cable plugged in?
So i got some news
I tested the power supply with my psu tester, its working fine, took out and reseated all the parts
reset cmos
didnt work
But this time
i replugged in the 24 pin cable
and it worked
but its not working reliaby
it finally booted and said Nvtpm error or whatever its called
When it gets to that screen you press "Y" and it'll continue
I did
But its not booting into bios
Its booting but not into bios
Is that normal?
That's fairly normal with modern secure boot settings
Ok sounds good
its working now
Im going to walmart to get anoither usb
lost my main usb
If you need to get into bios you can always hold shift while you click "restart" in windows and it'll go to the advanced boot menu
From there you'd select enter uefi
thanks
Iām mad I lost my usb
Iām pretty sure a friend stole it from me
It was my main w11 boot drive and I had a crap ton of drivers and stuff on there
Argh this is annoying
@potent portal hey how do u bypass signing into microsoft for this pc
im gonna sell it and dont wanna put my email in
I did the cmd method but its not woeking
Working
Which command method? There's several. The most reliable one I've seen is creating a local admin user using the net commands
I think the OOBE cmd still works
Used it fairly recently to setup a new computer for someone and it just worked
OOBE\BYPASSNRO ?
Yeah
it didnt work
I think they patched it out of 24h2
I dont want to use rufus
Thank god
Not sure what this method is but
Might work
If i bypass i can always resign in later right?
How do i do rthis
Yes
Eh wouldn't risk it
I dont want too either
I can look it up in a bit but rn I don't have anything unfortunately
i think it didnt work cause i alr connected to wifi before i tried to bypass
net user "Username" "Password" /add
net localgroup administrators "Username" /add
reboot
Oh yeah no that'll probably be the reason if it wasn't patched out
Just wipe the drive and redo the install
If you're going that route let me pass you a file to add to your usb that bypasses it
Don't let microsoft hoover all of your data
thanks send it over
Gimme a minute
I also use Risen's script to remove the telemetry and bloatware
Interesting
Cause windows loves to install crap
Revouninstaller is also a great tool for uninstalling programs fully
Thanks man
I appreciate it
Im gonna try the fresh thing
in the mean time
if it still dont work im gonna run the thing
Cheapest build for the recommended specs using used parts?
Is there only one drive in the system?
Yes
1tb nvme
i think i installed 2 windows os on the same drive
i rebooted
it asked which windows 11 volume 3 did i want to boot into
Did you format everything on the drive
Deleted all partitions
I format them and then delete them
ok i think im jsut going crazy
Then I format the whole thing again because I'm paranoid
it has 905 gb available
this is so me
This file goes on the root of the install USB and:
Creates an admin user "User" with password "changeme"
Skips EULA
Skips Wifi
Skips "Welcome" messages
Skips auto activate (do it later in windows)
Skips sending M$ a report on the install
YES
THANK YTOU
Do i have to access it via cmd to run
or does it run automatically upon booting up
It's automatic when you run the windows installation
Sweet! Glad that worked out
OCCT for stress testing
3Dmark (you can get a demo on Steam, that's Time Spy plus a few others)
thanks
Benchmate will automatically handle lots of different benchmarks too

$150 for a HP workstation with an E5-16XX and a 1060
Hey guys i bought a argb fan hub but their is no place to connect the reset switch to connect to the hub to change the argb. did they just send me the wrong one?
You probably either control it with a remote or the motherboard
It would connect to an argb header on the motherboard
anyone got a good pc build for 650 dollars
Not with new parts
You'd be very lucky to get a 6500 xt in that budget and I strongly recommend avoiding that
Any links to specials?
Can get more RAM and a SSD for a total around $150
Plus this https://www.ebay.com/itm/356237226663
Bet
It won't run Win11 without bypasses, just fyi. No TPM.
It's comparable to a 6600K
But moar threads
This guy is offering $150.
Could just use as a temp.
No GPU and alienware heat, eh

wha
@fossil cedar
thanks
Ty
What's the Mobo and PSU?
1300X - $20
Mobo - $50 (maybe)
1660 - $100
SSD - $25
RAM - $50
PSU - assumed ewaste
Let me check
That would add up to roughly $300 with everything included so it's the right price at least
But that doesn't make it a good deal
Yeah 300 could be reasonable of there is a REALLY high-quality PSU
But I doubt with that sort of rig
Same
So just assume it's ewaste and haggle down to ~220
The 1660 is below the minimum spec on a lot of new games
Preferably lower
I'd only be considering a 1660 super for a plex transcoder card at this point, or a retro-ish PC card
The 10 series is 8.5 years old after all
16 only technically newer to compete with amd at the low end
I could live with that price
Bet
Depends on the monitor really. If it's some 1080p 60Hz blur-fest then it's not worth much.
Asrock ab350 gaming k4 fatalty motherboard
That's the kind of thing you pick up at goodwill for $20
Yeah I get you there
That's worth about $60 so I was close on my estimate
Monitor 144hz
It would be a good candidate for a 5600X3D upgrade. Wouldn't go any higher than that with those puny heatsinks.
And I did confirm it has an update to support that, P7.40
NICE thank you!
Check this out on @Newegg:MSI MAG X670E TOMAHAWK WIFI AM5 AMD X670E SATA 6Gb/s ATX Motherboard https://www.newegg.com/msi-mag-x670e-tomahawk-wifi-atx-amd-x670e-am5/p/N82E16813144595?item=9SIAM8DKDG4276
Is this good?
If not any better alternative?
Iāve heard bad things of tomahawk mobos but not sure if itās true
What is the pc being used for
Just gaming
Then I'd say no, you should pick something else
Cos the benefits of X670E aren't anything a person who just games will see
Better off with a B650/A620 then you can use the savings elsewhere
Thanks
X670E gives I/O for creators
So like
More PCIe slots for multiple gpus
Raid support for servers
None of those things do anything for the cpu performance or gaming pc benefits
b650e riptide wifi is as high as wed suggest
Erm hey guys
Is 85 c good for a Ryzen 7 5700x?
š
I think itās normal right?
Stock cooler
Not 95 = good
Thanks
iām trying to install this ram into my motherboard
and wonāt seem to fit
any ideas?
did you buy the correct ram for your mobo
well its am5 and ddr5 so it should fit, just make sure the key in the middle fits
some new ram slots can be tight and hard to seat
make sure to line up the notch with the silver thing in the ram slot
hey so i just finished building it but no display
vga light is one iām pretty sure but not sure what the problem is
can someone help
Check you have the display plugged into GPU and not mobo, check GPU power, reseat GPU, double check which debug LED is on and troubleshoot off of that
i got it to work but ended up getting a ānew cpu installed ftpm/psp nv corruptedā
what does that mean
TPM is a security feature that is tied with the hardware, with a new build, there is nothing setup there, you might need to enable it if you plan on using windows 11
how do i enable it
It's in the bios, location can differ, generally in the security/boot section
thank you
my computer is not picking up the wifi connection
or ethernet
how do i get past this part
its mot picking up my wifi
or ethernet
Restart the installation process but change the language to "English (World)". Yeah it sounds weird but it'll let you get through the installation process without signing into Windows (with Ethernet not plugged in and no antennas on the Wi-Fi). Plus it's less bloaty
Just change your region settings post-installation back to whichever country you reside in so you can still use the Microsoft Store and whatever else
I do this for every installation
You could also get a USB to Ethernet adapter. I had to do that with my previous build that couldn't connect to Wi-Fi nor (motherboard) Ethernet
would u be able to guide me te thru
im not sure wym by restart the install
i start my pc and this is the first question i get
Windows set up is self explanatory
It takes you through a bunch of yes, no, or multiple choice questions
ik but when i get to the wifi part no wifi pops up
Wheres the no button š
i have both the wifi and ethernet cable
What phone do you have
You can share wifi from your phone, I think it might be android only though
I've never had to do a windows install without wifi, but I think you can bypass the wifi step?
I'm not sure. Ethernet might kick in if you disable your wifi card in bios, but again that's something I haven't done
@potent portal has i believe
Try pressing shift f10
If a CMD window opens, type in oobe\bypassnro
And click enter
Nah i did the same thing
Even if it does once you have a the wifi or lan drivers installed a windows reset wont remove them
and how do install those
You need windows set up first then u download em onto a drive from a different pc and plug it and move and extract
And the drivers are typically available in your mobos support page
so i need to install them into a usb ?
cuz it was giving me that option
i just thought there was another way
sorry im new to all this
okay i got in
it told me to download this
Armoury is so full of bloatware š
Amoury Crate helps with driver installation
But is quite bloated yeah
Less of an issue on desktop
But it absolutely sucks on laptops
Use ghelper if you ever end up owning an Asus laptop or handheld
I don't think it works with any desktop hardware
Armoury Crate isn't the worst
You know, it's a pain to fully uninstall and a pain to generally use
Also don't install the extra programs it encourages you to install
Whatās a good 4k monitor I could get for msfs2024 and I also play bo6 I currently have a lg ultra gear 1440p monitor but I want something better.
Which is a better cpu the R7 7700x or the r7 9700x? I'm looking for an all around cpu so I can do some medium to heavy gaming, college and office work
What's the college and office work?
Those two and the 7600/x and 9600x are near identical in gaming
My wife is going through college for nursing and the office work is her making a small business online
Yeah you really won't benefit from the extra cores
If uphradability isn't important 13600k/kf would be the best choice purely value wise
Or 7500f off aliexpress
Definitely not something you want to spend extra for 9000 series
$175
Appreciate the help with pointing me in the right direction
np, if you dont mind me asking what other parts were you looking to replace or buy?
Trying to get my gf a PC for Christmas but not trying to spend over $800. She doesn't play anything too heavy mostly indie games. Would this be a good option for a first time PC?
Id look for something used personally
Better perf to price ratio
Now thats a really good pc for that price
Yeah at that price range buying new is like asking to get scammed
Just to make sure but are HP omens made just as dumb as their laptops making them difficult to swap parts?
Cause chances are I'll be swapping the case for something better
Yes
And you can't swap case without changing mobo and psu too
I am looking for a pre built pc with a budget of 775$
Man what kind of price per spec is this, not even to mention that it's from CyberProblems
came out ok, always better than dvd drive. improved under load temperatures by 3C on the gpu and 5C on the cpu
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Vqvf74
Cpu mobo and ram are a bundle (will be 48gb ram not 32 from the bundle), unsure if that psu is enough with the card or sure of the card choice heard horror stories with amd cards and software so wanting to stick to nvidia
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D, GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER, Phanteks Eclipse P360A ATX Mid Tower
Any suggestions appreciated
Already have the case? And again, I'd recommend just getting a 7900xtx as with 90% of the time, nowadays Nvidia has as many software problems as AMD.
Yes case is already owned
Case and storage and case fans are the things getting re used, cpu cooler is the last thing needed to add but havent decided air vs aio
Why recommend the 7900xtx
Had to double check prices, 7900xtx prices did increase, but the performance is more on par with a 4080 for a bit higher price than 4070ti super.
major thing i am curious on is PSU and if 850 is fine for the 4070 ti super or if i would have to go up
850w is going to be fine, 4070 ti super is only really like a 300w card
cool i havent looked around lately and i had been seening when the 30 series were out alot of convos about power consumption
30 series had some really high spikes, 40 series not really
It does still draw a lot of power, but nothing a 850w PSU can't do
any recommendations on a cooler either air or a 120 aio since thats all the rear can hold
or should i go to cooling chat for that
I'd top mount a 240mm if you wanted an aio, or just grab like a peerless assassin 120
120mm aios are not worth it
this one?
Yea
the 48gb ram at microcenter is slow
dont do the 48gb bundle
and honestly
7600x3d or 78003xd with a 4080 or xtx would be a much better decision if the machine is just gaming
7600x3d to 7800x3d to 9800x3d is a very minor real world difference
longevity wise though would it make a difference? i dont plan to upgrade again for another 6 8 years maybe since im going from a 1070ti that is just hitting a wall for games im playing now and coming out next year
I will ask before doing it i know the 32gb shows 6000 speed i assumed the 48 would be to
the 48gb kit is 5200mhz unfortunately, but they might let you do a faster kit and pay the difference
longevity wise between 7800x3d and 9800x3d there won't really be a difference, 7600x3d i can't say so as confidently
but it will certainly hold up well
yeah I assumed as much but Im fine with swapping those 2 parts if its to get a better case lol
yeah Ive heard cyberpower is bad but I wasnt sure what other brands to get
realistically? no
there are still some people on like
ryzen 1000 series
still works*
*dont use them for gaming because they are quite old now
im on ryzen 3700x and that still can run any desktop game fine at reasonable settings, and it only struggles a bit on vr
It'll be good for overclocking but not at expo
Oh is it? I thought it was samsung
Oh dope
I'm trying to increase my fps and have a stable 240 in bo6 or in general. I play at a 2k res but get severe stuttering and frame drop, overall inconsistent frames. Could this be an optimization issue or do I need an upgrade? My specs are, R5 5600x3d, 6900xt, dual channel 32gb ram. b550m. Any recs? Thanks!
Overclocking memory should help with lows and smoothness
Thoughts?
OC ram already
Honestly the answer might just be a lower frame limit
Bo6 is demanding. I'm not so sure 5600x3d is going to push a consistent 240 in it
Especially with how cpu heavy warzone 2 was, I've heard bo6 did better but I'm not sure how true that is
I did notice lower cpu usage in bo6, wz2 was around 85-100. Now it chills around 60-80
That barely looks overclocked
I'd try a 144-200 fps limit before anything else
Well
Ram oc would genuinely help perf like fal is saying so that could lead to less frame drops, but its much easier to limit frames than mess with ram oc lol
Do you think switching to am5 will help my pc's performance in general?
including everyday tasks
and school work
School work hell nah, unless you're in some major with demanding workloads like needing CAD programs
Every day tasks same answer. Gaming, potentially
5600x3d is slightly behind the 7600/x, but not by far
You're looking at a $400 cpu, $120-150 mobo, and $95 ram for a 20-30% upgrade
what about the 9600x
true
But I'd sell my current parts
for like $250
$200 idk
and just get a bundled am5
Iāll give you $tree.fiddy
send addy
5600x3d def worth 135 or so alone
I haven't seen 5000x3d below $170 idt
Probably more
Well I guess there are AliExpress 5700x3ds for pretty cheap
I'm quite tempted to grab one
fb marketplace says otherwise
My area sucks for selling
I always get offers worth 30%-50% of what its worth
and sadly have to take up on the dumb offers because I'd rather get sum than nothing
hey, i looking for a new pc, but idk what hardware is the best for my budget (5kusd) anyone can help me?
5k is enough for just the PC alone to buy the best of everything and still have wiggle room
the question should be what do you need to do with the PC
i just want to play evrything in high fps
@copper echo do you have any specific needs/aesthetics?
just like the case full glass and evrything white
Need peripherals included?
5600x3d would sell on ebay I'd guess.
only the monitor in need some like 540hz or something more than 240hz
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4090, Montech SKY TWO ATX Mid Tower
Rough draft
Can be improved by someone not tired
Id def try and get a 9800X3D at that price range
Through bundle or whatever you can rn
You do say you want a higher refresh
But id at least recommend an OLED as a second monitor
Refresh rates above 240hz is VERY MUCH beyond the realm of diminishing returns
unless you are an actual esports professional I wouldn't bother going over 240hz
And even as an esports pro its still a stretch
also OLED has much better pixel response times, it'll look cleaner
Absolutely
Helps a lot with smudge frames
Youll get a lot more out of response times than hz above 240
Shoot i run a 180hz monitor and thats still more than enough
@rain carbon i didn't find the details tab at first in task manager , but i found it and unchecked core 0 , which made the game feel better but , gpu utilization is still low
am considering to upgrade ram but hesitent to open it up , after what happend to my last laptop that is ,
and like
i looked up the difference between single channel and dual channel in performance
and in situations in which am already getting low fps it shouldn't make a difference
How much ram is in it and how many sticks
11
special versions? aren't they windows 11 home and ultimate
i haven't checked but probably home
Ok that alone suffices as a reasonable answer
I see the problem
You really want more ram
8 is tiny for games
It's good enough for day to day, some light gaming examples you can skate away with in optimised windows installs (Hence the recent question of which windows)
But for general gaming, not a lot
And 8gb is likely single channel at that
So very stuttery, very inconsistent performance
This was mostly fixed with DDR5 but DDR4 really wants dual channel configs
If it's soldered, you could do another 8gb sodimm, run it stock, keep your windows usage very lightweight (No background tasks or very minimal)
If it's replaceable, go to 32gb imo
Used kits of ddr4 are very affordable
32GB is completely eaten by some games these days
Maybe it is in terms of a 1650 laptop, but up to you
I can easily tell the difference is that you only have 8 rn tho
8 is barely enough for basic windows work these days
Yup
The amount of small details that lead to problems with tech purchases these days
The lay person isn't capable of knowing that it's an odd configuration, and then in the real practice of it learn either after and need to upgrade and upgrade the warranty, or you end up finding out before and you are likely to buy the better model
laptops with 3050 in where i live go for 800
no stores at all to build a pc at a resonable rpice
It's "scumbag marketing" but I couldn't lay blame to anyone really
Kinda ok, though you will want to change the ram in it really
Chances are the warranty is lapsed by now
i bought it like 1 week ago the warrinty is still on
Oh shoot your ram was ddr4 too? Yeah explains the perf issues a bit more
I didnt want to say for sure it was the ram but it def feels like a problem, i would recommend looking at some 8x2 ddr5 kits
Laptop wouldn't be compatible I'm pretty sure
Oh shoot yeah you cant mobo swap š
I forgor
And im sure cpu is integrated into mobo too
i love laptops
I hate laptop designs
Most ive ever been able to swap has been ram and ssds
And ive swapped out displays
@cyan ravine What is that USB key on top of the chip if I may ask?
is it just a USB key, or something more spicy?
I think he just used it to cover the serial number
ah
thats alot of laptop
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 7700 XT, Lian Li Lancool 207 ATX Mid Tower
Thoughts on this build?
i like most of it
id just change some minor things to do a better monitor
few min
Get this monitor instead
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0CX8496ZP/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title
I personally have also been having a bad experience with ADATA XPG SSDs
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 7700 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
forgot monitor
Also refer to the PSU tier list (I'm telling you to avoid the Thermaltake Smart PSU)
why's that
bm3 isnt terrible but not good
Just not a good reliable PSU
there's much better psus at the price
like?
.
look in this list
also you could fit a 7800xt in budget
Get the 750W PSU in #tech-deals that Bacca posted lol
few min
There's also a 2TB SSD in there now
and cheaper cooler
Cheaper case but it won't get you roasted by the experienced PC people (and it still looks good)
cheaper case
Ended up costing more
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HxJBmC
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Montech XR ATX Mid Tower
could do an asrock 1440p monitor for cheaper
so the psu, storage, and gpu
so would the cooler in this list, but a lot more changed in this one than the first
why a worse cooler?
That CPU really doesn't need much to cool it. It even comes with a cooler
because it will do the job the same, am5 is super easy to cool
the 7600 with an amd stock cooler is perfectly fine, and the 7500f is a 7600 with no igpu and a slight downclock
hell the 7800x3d is fine with a stock cooler
Why spend $20 on a good cooler when you can spend $10 on a cooler that's marginally inferior?
well the $10 cooler is objectively worse than the other two options
but it's still decent and it will handle a 7500f easily
this list only has 1th of storage
Yes
Look at the other list
I gave two options
The second was trying to do as cheap as possible without bad parts aside from monitor and gpu
Meaning gpu and monitor were not as cheap as possible
Do u guys have any recs for 120mm fans with a similar style to these for bottom intakes?
@mossy venture I noticed the GPUs are the same price on all lists provided, including the one I provided as well. What's the difference between the GPUs?
The way they look
As long as they're the same model then they'll perform within a couple % of each other
Granted a few exceptions for bad designs
And in my personal opinion i think its more worth it to get a 3 fan design if your case has the room for it
What fans are those? If they came with the case then the model of that will work
Montech xr
Cant find any info on the fans in the page
Except their sizes
I think i found it
Well I'd recommend a reverse blade fan since it'll be bottom intake to start with so that can help narrow down the search for similar ones
Hmm not rb tho
