alright its downloading
and you said run Timespy on it?
@manic cloak
i see timespy
so far so good
alright
@manic cloak
u gud
Did you do the whole thing?
is it
no its still open
Open it up and look into all of CPU
this?
huh...its way passed that
Although below some other averages
Like looking at this
Wanted to quickly ask if my benchmark score and monitoring were normal
Your score is in the acceptable range.
hmm
Your fans did go to max speed during the test right?
Doesn’t show fan curve sadly
But I got a feeling it’s just yourCPU getting really hot and shutting off
I don’t know how to figure out what your issue is sadly
Hmmmm
would be odd if that was the case tho
because it's not that it's shutting off smoothly.....it's just brutal
I mean just download HWinfo and watch it to see if it's going above operating temps
it shows temps of all the components
if you have dual screens, it's a bit easier, but you could play in windowed mode with the hwinfo client next to it if you dont
I have plenty of stuff like that.....but keep in mind, it happens even when my PC is starting up (sometimes). It shouldn't be hot
tho i never really pay attention to them
I would think, without looking to deep into it cause I don't have time, that it's either a PSU issue or a short somewhere
you can pull the PC out and go as barebones as you can with it out of the case and stress test it that way. Stress test as in doing what you were doing while it was working and see if it is happening still.
make sure every cable is properly seated and connected
PSU only way I know how to test is to try a different PSU and see if the issue remains
could also be some kinda driver conflict but I wouldn't know how to sus that out
but the pc turning off with the fans going on blast sounds like an overheating problem
so I would start with monitoring temps
specifically the CPU
I think safe temps is technically up to 90 degrees
right
That's tjmax on a 5800X3D so yes
I've seen a bad cpu or memory cause this
Motherboard could be too
Fans going full blast is just a system hang/crash
Wow, I never got any real answers before. It's like you up and disappeared.
But for this person, need to check event viewer to see the cause of the crash, fans are just a result of system crash and software not controlling them anymore
WhoCrashed is a great application for checking system crashes/BSOD's
To find the offending driver
I did, I'll DM you
Temps are fine, GPU fan speed is a bit all over the place in Timespy but it's fine too. I'd recommend grabbing WhoCrashed and running it to see what driver is causing your sytem crashes
I'm gonna brag a bit, 3700x and a 3070 OC. 😉
sheesh....for such old parts?
This was a few years ago but yes, still rocking the 3070. That was on air too. You can push things if you dabble a bit!
But really, download and run WhoCrashed to see the cause of your system hangs
I don't recognize your name, did you change it?
I must have since you were still active lol
Only been like 3 years
I think it was fluffyshadowman before
AHA! That one I do remember. 🙂
I'll DM, don't wanna clog this up
Is that on steam or sum
WhoCrashed, automatic crash dump analyzer for Windows
Well, running 4 sticks of RAM with a 5800X3D is known to cause problems
Also I just hit a new idle temp of 37 degrees with a hotspot of 45 😔
Especially if they aren't a 4 matched stick set from the same kit
Ryzen is picky about that, especially about 4 sticks and the QOL list.
Hopefully cyber power isn’t that dumb
It's also DDR4-2400 which is a bit slow but that shouldn't crash
Wouldn't put it past them at all
Wait his ram is 2400?
Ya
Wth
sooo is this something it tells me once it does crash?
4xDDR4 2394
It should pick up previous crashes and display them in the same window, scroll down
Or Maximize the window so you can see everything
See if that picks up anything
Interesting. how many times has the fan speed gone maxed and system rebooted?
Hard crashes with no errors are fun. Typically memory or storage issues in my experience.
Let’s start off with basics honestly
it doesn't reboot. the only way to stop of from sounding like a jet engine and turning it back on is if I flick the power switch off and on again
Command prompt and do the windows corruption detect
So it's a hard crash then
i guess
That's a hard crash, not a driver or Windows. Either BIOS or hardware
Nvm
well it happens quite often
Hmm could it possible be bios software?
Possibly. Can you please give me make and model number of the PC?
Or a link to where you bought it works too
ive also noticed how almost every time i shutdown my PC for the day, the RGB lights stay on but the fans stop spinning...also having me flick the switch
He’s customized it so it’s not exact
I assume he went on their website and did the upgrade option right?
This can be normal, some BIOS has a function for the RGB to stay on until PSU is off, my system does this
rgb on the mobo or on the fans and gpu as well? my mobo lights stay on
fans
What motherboard is it?
a GIGABYTE B550 UD AC ATX w/ WIFI 802.11, 1 Gigabit LAN, 5 PCIe x16, 4 SATA3, 2 M.2 SATA/PCIe
Press Windows key + R and type msinfo32 and tell me the bios version pls.
THe line is "BIOS Version/Date"
My PC is actually off rn....Im heading to work 😬
Ah, no worries.
but ill definitely keep y'all posted
The link for the bios version is here: https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/B550-UD-AC-rev-12/support#support-dl-bios
If it's older than FD, it needs updated
Also, when or after you check the BIOS version, please check the RAM make and model as well. Not a lot of 4 stick kits in the QVL list. Need to look at that also.
alright, thanks
Your DM's are closed lol
Should be good now
Ya nah lol
The hell
Okay I've opened every setting I can for dms kekw
If this still doesn't work discord is once again garbage s
F5D is my current version
I remember discussing this on
#gaming message
F5D? Not on the list. Is it a Cyberpower motherboard?
Yeah but the support site for the mobo doesn't list F5D, just Fc, Fd, etc
Even the BIOS file name is just FD
No the website collated them
Yeah they used to have F#D not just FD
The number implying a patch/revision
Seems they moved to a new format
FGa i.e F1G
Did you add any RAM sticks to this PC?
No. It's been with the same (8x4) that it's been having
Has this been an issue from day one or after a change you made?
Hey yall, I am going to upgrade my Zen 3 to a Zen 4. Any MB reccs?
i have the z490 p board and am using the 2080 super... would it be beneficial to upgrade or is that about the best i can get for the board?
i have looked it up and what i have seen i can put a 3070 or 3080 but what i have been reading it says its not much of a gain... wasnt sure what you guys think from experience
What cpu though
i7 10700k
Overview
Computer model: ASUS System Product Name
Operating system: Microsoft Windows 10 Home (10.0, Build 19045)
Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-10700K CPU @ 3.80GHz 8/16
Motherboard: ASUSTeK COMPUTER INC. PRIME Z490-P
RAM: 48 GB
Huh another 48gb ram user lmao
man i had 16 so i just bout 2 16 gb sticks and added them lol
With the 2080, what is your cpu utilization in your games
i planned on upgrading the 2 8 sticks later lol
im new to all this lol like i said the pc came with 2 8gb sticks so i bought 2 t force 16gb and added them
Any gpu is compatible with a z490
^ but I'm worried that you might get cpu limited
The thing is, any gpu above say a 3080/4070 or equivelany would be very cpu limited
Assuming 1440p, 1080p would be lower than those two
Personally with a 2080, I would suggest a cpu/mobo/ram upgrade first
from what i was reading the 2080 super is a powerhouse but wasnt sure if it would be worth upgrading or not
personally, i dont really think there is really a need to upgrade everything yet; i feel like your system should still be able to run anything you throw at it at least half decently
is there anything you're struggling to run currently?
the most demanding game i think i have played is star citizen and it ran great
but with that i think it was running at between 70 to 80%
buy a 4090
not even using 100% of your hardware smh
i always put the graphics settings to the highest lol
and im running at 250hz
well my monitor is 250 max but i get the notifications aafter games end saying i hit a max of like 3 something
It's about equal to a 3060 ti or 4060 ti
1080p 250hz I'd imagine
250hz on a 1440p monitor is rare lol, normally it's 240 or 260
I would wait a month or so for 9000 series cpus, and hop to am5
And then upgrade your gpu down the line, new gens are coming out end of this year/early next year I believe
yeah my second monitor is a sceptre and its 1080 at 240 but the msi is 1440 at 250
3060ti
2080ti is the one near the 4060ti
2080 ti matches the 3070
4060 ti and 3060 ti perform the same
Hm
My chart is wrong
so what would you guys recommend to do to make a build to sell using these parts
3060 12gb ventus 3x, 32gb crucial ballistic, 650w super nova evga, probably a arctic 240 2 as well
3060 12 gig outperforms 3070
heavily depends on what you're running
or rather, only on applications that need more than 8gb vram
minecraft....
how much do u think is a reasonable amount to spend on a build to sell with these parts as a start tho?
and recomendations?
i was thinking going for a compact and semi portable build
itx or Micro atx
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Oh mitx is doable
And could def do a better cpu
What supernova model
i have a open budget its just a mater of what would it add value to the buyer

In vanilla minecraft?
I'm guessing you mean modded which is an edge case
No texture packs nothing?
i want to use a closed loop
Edge ≠ whole picture
not realy anymore and yes modded
If you put that the 3060 is faster in the article... you'll raise some eyebrows lad
The blanket statement of "the 3060 12 gig outperforms 3070" is just false
i was just saying in reference to the above comment
most people i know arent playing modded minecraft, or at least that's not the only game they play
Isn't archimedes air ships infamous for being buggy
ik the 3070 is faster on lower loads
Unless that's a diff mod
not that mod
Cleaned up the cables today
Nahh
This is before
It was remade in 1.14 or 1.16, smthn like that
or at least the original dev? idk, i dont use that mod lmao
anyway do u thing a higher end build is worth it for resale?
the more expensive the build, the harder it is to sell as one piece
especially used
Not quite right either, it's faster by a mile in anything where the vram is not over 7.5gb
might wind up keeping it as a mobile rig tbh
Big mile
It's better to say it as an edge case. I would agree in modded minecraft specifically as modding often involves a lot of vram
that's fine, for those things it makes sense
Grab the z20 plus, d30, or an im01 variant
But better to cover this now as putting weird statements in articles for sale will challenge people to lowball or stay away
and thats the market of the resale build i think aswell
It undermines a genuine article
you want to focus it on a broader audience or you'll never be able to sell it ☠️
You could say things like "12gb vram! Lasts longer!" But I wouldn't say anything to do with 3070
ik a few in the same area as me that i think ill sell it to
not planning to
Good
and is am5 worth it anyway?
Yes
Intel is on the britches rn if you consider any of their K processors over i5
clock speeds dont really matter
Massive architecture degradation
im debating rebuilding my rig but i just got more ram for it 🥲
any small cases that will fit a full sized atx board?

if i were to swap it for am5
There's a few
Though most of the really good choices these days are shifting to mATX
Like DAN A3, D31, IM01/Pro etc
There's still decent ATX choices
XT Pro
Air 903, sky two
All that's coming to my memory atm
oh you're currently deciding on what to build for the resale
yes but also if swaping to am5 on my rig and just using that board and cpu is better
would have 96gigs of ddr4 on it then
and id need new ddr5 64 ram
also the resale rig would be stuck with a full sized atx board
tbh
if you only have a gpu, ram, psu, and cooler
just sell them seperately
you're likely to sell each part for more than a whole build
that's pretty much worthless tbh lmao
fair
if i use an old ssd in a completely new pc build, can i boot the system using the os on it? or would there be any problems with windows / the drivers ?
If it's WIndows 10 or 11, might be OK.
I've done it before with new Mobo and CPU so should work with those OS
Might 😅
what if i installed windows onto another ssd without an os and used that to boot?
whilst having the old ssd with an os in my secondary m.2 slot ?
Damn
I’m completely new to this stuff but since I’ll be building my first pc I was wondering if I could get help with choosing a rgb cpu cooler (preferably a 2x or 3x rgb fan cooler) Also I need to find the right gpu as I’m not sure if a rtx 3050 or 3060 would be a good pair for a Ryzen 5 5600
I pretty much have chosen everything else
What country you in? Both of those are almost definitely not the best options
Also you can get a better gpu if you just use the stock cooler or a cheap air cooler instead of water cooler
Since they're bare minimum 50$ and 20$ will get you a good enough air cooler
The 5600 comes with a cooler, but if you really want something with RGB go with something from Thermalright. They've been killing it in the market lately.
You won't need anything more than a single tower but a dual tower would be good too for a future upgrade.
I’m located in Canada
Ohh I wasn’t sure if using the stock cooler would be efficient since I don’t seen anyone using them anyways
Not sure what gpu to go with though but I’m definitely not looking to spend more than $400 for a gpu as I am trying to build a budget- mid end tower
Stock cooler would work just fine haha
What's your total budget?
Might get a bit loud
It's a tad loud but perfectly fine, nothing a 20$ cooler wouldn't be able to handle though
@rose musk what's your max budget mate
I’m looking to be under $2000 if possible or just at 2000 lol
Already asked that stop tryna steal
💀
Oh that's easily done,is there a number you'd prefer instead?

Same
Part List - Intel Core i5-12600KF, Radeon RX 6800, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower

Hmmmmm $1000-1300?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Oh 1300
Yeah the first one I posted then
2000 is big boom list
I did update the list after your recommendation about the cooler and it brings me to $585 CAD just missing the gpu and caseeee
But 12600kf and 7800x3d both destroy 5600
Are they budget cpus?
And peerless on a 5600 is like throwing the continent of Antarctica at a bonfire
@rose musk ^^^
@rose musk would do this personally the value with the XT isn't there imo
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Br8yYN
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
Why is canada the one place that makes sense for pc building
Idk lol prices are acc good atm
Better than pro rs?
For the price it is
Oh well for that price hold up
Snooze ya lose
@rose musk for 1300
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/jzrPZJ
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7700 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Okay so I did check all of them out
Air 100 my beloved
Just generally curious isn’t an i5 an old ass cpu? I know that there’s an i7 and the latest is an i9 or am I getting it all twisted lmao
Ahhh
They have one of those every generation
It's identical to ryzen 7600 basically
You've gone too advanced and misinterpreted
Intel relies on you being confused about it. They just want you to think "i9 gud" and spend crazy money on it
Oo thats pretty good
12600kf = 7600
Why have we got two thistbh
Yeah would’ve fooled me
Yes but they said isn't an i5 an old ass cpu
Urs fake
I'm an old ass
Not from wegg
oh wth
is the this wegg one
Weggs tbh is teebeeh
So there's 3 then
I have been growing my thistbh crops for many years
They finally bloomed
(Why does every server have them now??)
You also have :this : from my serv
The pink one
My fav tbh
i have a friend that i respect

but they're planning to
I would say
is my favourite
im trying to talk him into getting low power gpu instead
im assuming it's an optiplex
Talk him into a threadripper
Eew if his psu has a pcie cord it's actually not terrible even tho could probably get a 7700xt for that price lol
I do understand upgrading gpu then upgrading cpu later on
Dell power supplies are probably the least trash component they make
Because it's really hard to screw up 12VO so they often qualify for 80+ platinum
I’m tryna sort and search for all of these parts for in store pickups and I happened to stumble across something
Are any of those 2 bundles good or should I just stick with the pcparts link I was sent originally
You have to scroll a bit down to see them
Nah neither of them
Just worse value
Though I will say, the board I had in that list has no wifi just a heads up
You can add wifi tho
Self added wifi also means you can upgrade down the line
Yeah, otherwise it's something more like this
https://ca.pcpartpicker.com/list/Zd6L34
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 6800, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 6800, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
It's faster by a bit due to ddr5 (12600kf can come with ddr5 which is why they're really equal cpus) but you're gaining wifi in the process if you really need it
Pay some 9% more for a better life board and 10-15% more performance in cpu limited situations, which is basically fps games and certain workstation tasks
It's not a bad decision to pick any of these lists basically
Just a second choice if you needed the wifi is all
my i3 9100F is finally catching up to bite me lol
my taskbar won’t work unless i reset my pc like twice
can’t wait to finish my new build and use a 5600
right now it’s been 4 times, i might need to figure out what to do
that's just windows
try reinstalling windows

Thank you so much, I appreciate it.
Np
So when do you all think the 5090 gpu will finally come out? They’ve been saying it’d be cheaper than the 4090 but I can’t tell
In the future I’m probably going to upgrade my gpu for vr
cheaper
Idk where you heard cheaper but I'd believe nothing until full details are out
Yeah cheaper ain’t happening lmao
Anyone wanna guess MSRP?
I'll go first
It's probably gonna be 2 grand for the FE, 2200-2500 for a high-end AIB one and 3 grand for any Asus one :3
Probably 1900-2100. 2400+ for liquid cooled ones.
Average 4090 was $1700-1900 right? On release
1600 msrp
It will at the least either adjust for inflation or relegate to a smaller die and no longer be the halo tier, giving the impression it "became cheaper"
I'm with Bacca, probably 1700, maybe 1800
Ig that’s true
Genuinely curious whats the better cpu a R5 5600x or 7600x?
7600/x by far
It's the 5600/x but a new generation
New, faster cores, runs on ddr5
Other generational improvements contribute to the performance difference too
7600/x ≈ 57/800X3D
Oh okay just wanted to confirm it
can anyone look over this build before we start buying stuff https://pcpartpicker.com/list/ny2TL9
id spend the extra for https://pcpartpicker.com/product/mnxRsY/hp-fx900-pro-2-tb-m2-2280-nvme-solid-state-drive-4a3u1aaabb
and save money on psu for gf a3
@cyan ravine I need your professional foot doctor opinion, 5090, do I buy?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600X, Radeon RX 6800
Nicer mobo, nicer psu, cheaper gpu same price, ssd is a lot hetter/more reliable
Ram is better while costing the same
Soooo I’m not sure why but the prices on newegg are wayyyy off because I’m searching up the components on actual websites and a lot of store here don’t carry the psu and the ssd is $130
😭😭
Stores*
u might be on newegg in a different country
@rose musk what country are you in
Canada, specifically Toronto
I’m just tryna buy everything from in store so it’s easier for me
Yeah I can’t find that cpu cooler in any store or on newegg
Nope
Literally the only things in that list that are available here is the psu which is $140 and not $100. The gpu I can easily get in store and the cpu but everything else…
Being Canadian sucks bro😭
thats an american pcpp list
its gonna be more expensive bc the cad is worth less than usd
Bro in Toronto there's so many good deals in marketplace
I saw a 3080 for like <400
I legit checked I can’t find nun that was the first place I hit
Check again, you gotta scroll through
I saw some decent pc parts
Aios ram
I can’t find nada that would align with what I would need I legit even checked Kijiji
I was going based off of pc parts lists sent by people on here tbh
There is a Canadian pcparticker

Does anyone have a specific tool I should buy or use to clean dust out of the pc. Know everyone said compressed air and cleaning out dust should be pretty easy since I can remove the glass panel from my computer.
If you don't want to buy cans of compressed air you can get an "electronics duster" like this one https://www.amazon.com/Compressed-Adjustable-100000RPM-Rechargeable-Cleaning/dp/B0CFQC4DB3
I have one of these
They suck
Yeah I have no idea how they're measuring that but it's not the important part anyway
It's probably one of those random aliexpress DC brushless motors that claims to be 100k
But again that's not super important here
I'm not even suggesting you get this one specifically, it was just the first one that popped up when I searched amazon looking for an example
yeah i get it, thats how it goes with most internet marketing these days
no, they blow and suck
Electronics should not be able to explode
Why would they even sell that?
technically remote detonating explosives are electronics
Because it can't actually reach that speed and it's either a falsity based on bad information or they're just straight up lying, both are equally likely imo
LMAOOOO 1000000RPM
They're probably straight up just lying
It's not like Amazon's going to penalize them or enforce any kind of sane rules
This ied I made is an electronic, time to place it in the middle of the highway
It shouldn’t be legal for electronics to just explode the worst we should expect to happen is for stuff to just stop working
They don't explode, because it's not actually running at 100k rpm
Yo
Hello all, I am going into engineering school this fall and I am looking for laptop recommendations, I was pointed towards Lenovo by a friend but I am open to all suggestions. Any help is welcome
I am leaning towards 2-in-1 laptops with touchscreens
honestly, in that case, the lenovo yoga line is the better choice
rtings ranks "HP Spectre x360 14 (2024)" as the best overall 2 in 1 laptop
yeah
yeah i am looking at this and as far as i can tell the lenovo one is more value for similar price
https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-spectre-x360-2-in-1-laptop-14t-eu000-14-7k635av-1
actually cheaper
what is the intel equiv to AMD Ryzen 7?
i7
but that's the line
also do you need any gpu accelerated workloads? neither of these laptops have a dedicated gpu
that is a good question which i do not know the answer to
Is CAD one of the things you'll be using? If so then you probably do want a GPU
are there even any 2 in 1 laptops with a dgpu? i dont think i've ever seen one
i'd assume so, but irdk. I am currently engineering undecided but i am planning on doing chemical
i dont need to get a 2 in 1 it just seems like it would be convenient
or actually, do you currently have a desktop
yes i do
CAD is typically more of a focus for structural engineering and design
Yep up to a 4070
i have also considered bringing my desktop with me to college but idk if it will be worth it
also what is a dgpu
ah ok
both laptops sent there were using the igpus
i see
yes for double the price of the other ones i was looking at
i dont have a set budget but would like to stay below 1500 usd
i'd say figure out what your technical requirements before throwing money for a pc
There's open box ones for $1577
that would likely be online somewhere right?
your program website would probably say what you need for your classes
okay
for example, my current program says this
though technically we do need more than just 500gb
Operating System
Windows 11
Processor
Minimum: Intel core i7
Recommended: Intel core i9
Video card
Minimum - Dedicated video card Nvidia or AMD 4 GB

The requirement of "i7" is stupid
There's 14 generations worth if i7s
There's multiple i3s that beat multiple i7s
Hell there's probably recent dual core cpus that beat some i7s
An amd cpu is perfectly fine, it's not like with gpus where an amd vs nvidia gpu can make a massive difference
But muh eye 7
My friend lives in the US and is looking to get a computer.
It's gonna be used mostly for games and his budget is $800 MAX.
He needs either a laptop or a desktop with a monitor included in that budget..
Any aesthetic choices wanted?
They got kb+m already?
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600X, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Phanteks XT PRO ULTRA ATX Mid Tower
Buy used 6700xt
Someone else will do a better job with a list
Question, microcenter & which nearby? (if there is)
I do not know. Waiting on a response.
He just wants performance.
well what state does he live in? would that work?
To be honest I forgot... Just asked him.
He got back.
He says he lives in Washington.
Ya closest one would be Cali for him
which is a long drive
Anyways
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/LhDVkJ @gentle pollen Let me explain some things before you send this
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7500F, Radeon RX 6750 XT, MagniumGear Neo Air 2 ATX Mid Tower
All black build, which I hope is fine because I did like you said, performance>the looks
Now you may see some cheap prices and a part you never seen, mainly this build is refrubished/used.
So I need to hunt for the used parts or?
If he's fine with that, great cause he's going to get the best out of those extra 4$. The CPU is from Aliexpress but usually comes within 1-2 weeks (on par with 7600) the motherboard is from Newegg and whoever buys it will need to fill out a form to get the money back which he should do, decent mobo too. The graphics card is from Amazon's Resale department listed as "Good" condition but they have a 90 day warranty for that.
All the links for the used/different parts are at the bottom of the list.
While everything else you can click on it's dedicated section and buy it through there.
Should still have a warranty through manufacturer too
I doubt og buyer registered it
Who knows though if there is extra warranty. Your friend should 100% inspect the motherboard and graphics card before doing anything just in case.
Of course
Otherwise he has a real good AM5 build that he can easily upgrade without switching platforms, only switching monitor resolution if he wanted.
I have a question about finding a pc case/tower. Would any mobo fit in any mid size towers? I’m scared to buy a tower and then have my mobo not fitting or aligning.
Just asking because I’ve seen people have issues with that^
Cases list the motherboard size they should fit
Best to pick a motherboard/form factor (ATX, ITX, etc) then a case for it.
Okay thanks
What vintage said. Aside from that just make sure your cooler and gpu fit
Hey so my friend ran into a issue and I was wondering if anyone could help. “so I’ve run into a problem where everything turns on but the gpu flashed red and won’t spin and the case fans aren’t spinning either”
Red light on the GPU or red VGA light on the motherboard?
I can send the video in #build-pics
Nvm it didn’t work
I’ll send in DMs
What motherboard is it?
Let me ask him
B650m-A Pro Wi-Fi
Red light on the motherboard = CPU not detected or fail.
Power off PSU, unplug from wall, wait a few, replug and restart. BIOS might be borked. If that doesn't work, BIOS reset recommended.
Is it overclocked at all or stock?
Probs easier that way lol
👍
It's all good, I'm here
mb im here now
All good
@muted patio

hes all urs
So, here we go, I'll start at the beginning, I saw the vid
Red light on the motherboard = CPU not detected or fail.
Power off PSU, unplug from wall, wait a few, replug and restart. BIOS might be borked. If that doesn't work, BIOS reset recommended.
Is it overclocked at all or stock?
Stock these are all new parts
Ohhhh, is this a first boot??
Yeah first boot
Ok, what CPU please
Ryzen 5 7600
Gimme a sec
I’m also using the stock cooler it came with
Alright
It's ahrd to tell in the video, do you have an 8 pin power connector on the upper left of the motherboard? Didn't look like it but hard to see
ALl I saw was what looked like a fan cable
I’ll send a picture
DM if it won't let you post here.
I've been gone a while, can't remember all the channel perms. 😂
Yeah it won’t let me I’ll dm
Hello i’m trying to build a PC and my budget around 1.6 K and I already got the case so don’t include that to the total I got the H9 elite the theme I am going for is a clean white build with lots of rgb and screens doesn’t have to be over the top because I know the budget is limited but just a few of these aspects and I already made a list of what of what I want to get but maybe you can look over it and check if it’s a good configuration or how you would build it for that price thank you.
Part List - Intel Core i9-12900K, GeForce RTX 4070, NZXT H9 Elite ATX Mid Tower
Cool, got the pic. That cable says CPU and not VGA, right? If it says, CPU, good to go
My friend was looking for a 1080p monitor, 24 or 27 in, 165hz+ for around 100-150$ and i'm currently finding a few but don't know what's best
Yeah it just says cpu
And the CPU fan is plugged into the CPU_FAN header? hard to tell in pic
https://www.microcenter.com/product/670531/acer-nitro-kg240y-m5biip-238-full-hd-(1920-x-1080)-180hz-gaming-monitor https://pcpartpicker.com/product/H34Zxr/asus-tuf-gaming-vg249q1r-238-1920-x-1080-165-hz-monitor-90lm05v1-b01eb0 what i've found for now
Yeah it’s plugged into CPU_FAN1
For gaming? Also what resolution.
RAM is in A2/B2 slots?
those are the second and fourth slots right?
Correct
Then yeah they’re on those slots
Yes a gaming rig and I don’t know that much about resolution and stuff like that
Unplug it from the wall, pop out the battery in the bottom left under the GPU (move the small metal tab, battery will pop), wait 10 minutes, battery back in, leave GPU out, add power and restart.
Okay so with your budget I plan on giving you 2k resolution aka 1440p. Also you want monitors included in budget?
Do you plan on doing anything else than gaming?
If the motherboard boots to a VGA error, we can unplug it again and put the GPU back in. Need to move past the CPU detection issue first
Like a job? Rendering? Animations? I'm just listing things people do.
I don’t know I don’t need monitors or anything else. I already have everything. I’m just getting a new PC because my old one is broken and yes, just for gaming.
So just a new pc is all, no monitors
and no diff case
gotcha
Got it
I mean I can tell you this, if you figure out what monitors you have and send it here that could help me out
cause I don't want you to have a 1.5k pc on some office monitor
Also @peak shore Do you live in the united states? Near any microcenter?
I have 3 Samsung monitors but I am pretty shure they all only have 60hz but I don’t mind
I’m gonna try it soon i gotta go to work in a bit
ALl good
You know which models? I mean your PC is going to be pumping out some hefty frames, i'd atleast want you to have one monitor that is clear as day to you, others as off tab/secondaries
No I don’t know right now but maybe that’s something I’m going to upgrade in the future or like at least one of them but for now just gonna buy the PC
Gotcha. Also USA? Near a microcenter?
Sorry for so many questions
You tagged the wrong John
No worries but I sadly don’t have a microcenter in my country so you can jut look on Amazon for reference
My fault john 😭
So you don't live in the US?
Yeah it's all good, I thought it was funny
Nope
Which country then because they have pcpp's in that region likely
I am from germany
And total comes out to 1600 euros or USD?
1600 in Euro but the difference is not too big anyways
What is the best way to get my AIO tubes to look like they do in the first picture with the PC powered on? Can I get away with like flipping the block around or does the whole thing have to come out and be flipped?
Does the AIO cord not bend back?
Cord as in like the power cable of the pump?
Nono, what you're trying to bend back.
the tubes mb
Honestly I wouldn't really have a clue without suggesting to take it out 😭
That’s fine, I’m taking it apart a bit anyway to replace a bad fan so
@manic cloak So do you have any suggestions for me?
I'm currently building the list still, i'm not used to using other markets so sorry for my slow process 😭
Cause unfortunately I do conversion rates, I double check if I can do things I do here but i'm very limited
Oh lol sorry take your time
Like Germany's amazon has no resales that are in reasonable
Plus you guys are paying like an extra 5-80$ per component depending on what part
which is scary
I assume you want RGB ram?
You could look on pcpartpicker too and configure something
Yea
What i'm doing rn but like alot of the pcpp items aren't on sale in germany
and an AIO because you're going for THAT H9 elite type build?
Yes but doesn’t have to be if it is not possible
You can also take parts that are unavailable I am shure you can get most of the stuff elsewhere
Alright well do you prefer Dominator RAM or Teamgroups delta model for RGB?
You can take dominator ram or if that is too expensive you can look at g. Skill ram
Ya cause both of them are around 120 euros
Just diff CL latency and mhz, the dominator is slightly better.
If the difference is not too big just go for aesthetics
forgot to ask but when you say leave the gpu out do you mean leaving the gpu disconnected while I restart the pc?
Completely remove it from the system, I think you'll have to to remove the button cell battery anyway
7600 has an integrated GPU so you'll have graphics without it
Once we get it booted up, can shut down and put GPU back in
Is there any shipping price on these?
Alright thank you I’ll be trying it after work
https://www.amazon.de/-/en/AsiaHorse-Sleeved-Extension-Extensions-Management/dp/B0B4V8T8BD/ref=sr_1_2? Or this one.
Doesn’t matter I have Amazon prime
Oh sweet
@sour ice https://de.pcpartpicker.com/list/yHwfQP
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 GRE, NZXT H9 Elite ATX Mid Tower
That's the list I made, somebody else might remake it at a later time, no clue when. Originally it had a 7600 + small aircooler but you had about 400 euros extra so I added the 7800x3d and AIO.
Thanks for taking the time to configure this for me I am probably going to build it almost like this with a few changes 👍
VAT and other taxes are included in their prices
I put in a replacement fan and adjusted my AIO tubes, now my PC is shutting itself off
I got into desktop once and everything was super slow then it shut itself off
I turned it on again and it booted but shut itself off before it could get to desktop
Did you reconnect the pump header
When you adjusted your AIO tubes, it's possible you changed the mounting of the block on the CPU. Sounds like CPU getting hot or you unplugged the pump or something
It may of come lose let me double check it
Also my replacement fan is making the same clicking noise so I need to get another one 💀
Sure it isn't the pump?
Not sure what clicking noise a pump would make
But both fans having the same exact issue is... odd
Yes when I hold the bearing and stop that fan the noise stops
And yes the pump cable wasn’t in that’s awkward
Lmao I did the same thing but so much worse
As soon as that fan stops the noise immediately stops
I spent an hour and a half taking the cooler off and remounting it, redoing paste, running cinebench wondering why it was instantly 70s-90s on boot
Yikes
grahh I might have to take my gpu out again my fat fingers can’t get it back in
My pump thing plugs like right under the ip shield
Oh weird
I feel like most mobos it's top right or about level with the cpu on the right
I have an A620 board so maybe that’s it idk
There is one to the top right of the CPU
idk what I’m using it for I can’t remember
Ahh
I think my rgb/fan header is plugged into it
The only other one and what the manual said for Aio pumps is to the left
Yeah ima have to pop the gpu back out lol
Nvm I got it just took a weird angle
Okay I’m back into windows and temps are fine and stable
But now it won’t let me connect to any network
Like there’s no option to open the list of networks near me
Yeah it just randomly loses wifi now and won’t let me select a option
oh cool it just blue screened
I need help if someone has time
onboard? or add in card
if it's an add in card in a pcie slot or whatever, i'd first try reseating it
and if not, then try reinstalling the wifi drivers
No it was all artifacted
Another guy helping me says I need to download wifi drivers off of another pc
Wait hold up
There’s no wifi card detected under device manager
It only did it during the blue screen
Okay but why did my wifi disappear
Artifacting isn't a random thing
What would gpu have to do with that
Could be separate could be related
But artifacting is not a symptom of wifi issues
It was a weird like 4 small blue screens all artifacted over the top of my screen
I tried to grab my phone but i wasn’t fast enough
Just to be 100% clear, something along these lines?
Is ram oced or just expo/xmp?
Should just be expo/xmp
Hm, if it happens again I would run a memtest and a gpu stress test
P95 would do the job, otherwise timespy
You can also share wifi via your phone btw
If you have an android, not sure if it works with iphones
This is what it shows for my wifi btw
I hate device manager
That's mostly gibberish to me. I believe the second one is your wifi card
Yeah it is
Realtek pcie etc
im on my pc
just reseated
theres wifi rn
idk if this was it or not but if it was
the stupid screws securing my pump block to my cpu werent all the way tight
i tightened those
knock on wood it seems to be fine?
If anything else happens like I said I'd run ram/gpu stress tests
If nothing happens, then nothing happens lol
id rather nothing happen than something at this point lol
Nevermind it just lost wifi again
I ran the built in gpu stress test in the Radeon software and it was fine
10 seconds after it finished it lost wifi
2nd one isnt wifi, 2nd one is wired
no, windows isnt detectng it at all
so drivers wont fix it
it needs to show up for the drivers to work
It has wifi for like 5 minutes when I turned the pc on
i had a similar issue on a laptop and it was just the wifi chip dying
though my laptop was 6 years old at that point
It’s a year old mobo
Only started doing this after I adjusted my auto and put in a new fan
your auto?
Built in WiFi
hmm
Make sure the lil cables on it are still connected
Where would it be on an asrock a620m pro rs wifi
if it's built in, that shouldnt be an issue? even without antennas, the wifi card should still be detecting in devmgmt
Bro what the hell
I shut the pc down from windows and everything turned off but my fans are still spinning
And my peripherals still have power
Okay I need a timeline for all of this
From what I know, you removed your graphics card, readjusted AIO or something, no wifi now? i'm lost
WiFi card is directly under GPU, one moment
Red circled part
Make sure you didn't disturb it messing with GPU
It's an M.2 formfactor so if it turns out to be bad it can be easily replaced. Probs worth shutting PC down from power, removing power cord, reseating the M.2 card and powering back up
oh it's not soldered on
In this case, nope, which might end up being a good thing
Hey so I’ve had someone tell me that you don’t necessarily need to purchase win11 or pro because it’s pricey but there’s just a watermark and it gets annoying and restricts some things
Is that true? And would it be recommended to go without it??
If I backorder something is it the same as if I’d wait till it came back in stock to order it or how does that work cus the gpu I’m looking at just went out of stock and I’m not sure what to do
The gpu I’m looking at is the sapphire 7900 gre pure
you absolutely can just use windows without activating it
its effectively freeware and microsoft is handing it out like candy lmao
Wait so I’d still have to buy windows11 itself it for $139 though right? Just not the key??
huh?
No lol you're buying the key if you pay for it
What I'm saying is you can just download the latest version of w10/w11 and create a usb to install windows on your computer
and you can just choose to skip activation during setup
effectively making it freeware
the key is just a string of letters and numbers that shows microsoft you actually bought windows
though as with all things there are ways around it
ur mom
That is valid
Alright that cleared it up thanks
is it just like a screw driver
SHould just be a philips screw on the end, yes. Might even have a little hold down lever you swivel out of the way, can't tell from pics
im on my pc now, i went to bed last night snd decided it was a tomorrow thing, pc has been running without gpu in and has had wifi for the past like almost 10 minutes
its a little screw by the looks of thingsd
none of these are my wifi card though correct
Your WiFi card is there. RZ616 Wi-Fi 6e 160 mhz
so where was it last night
Taking a nap
just from a visual look at it without my gpu blocking it it looks fine
Checked last nights pic again, that wasn't there
wires look onbothered on their way to the atennas
It's showing up now so no need to mess with it
As soon as I said that
My WiFi connection dropped
Gone again?
Looking in device manager no wifi card
Ah, OK def pull it and reseat it and try again. Do it with power off and unplugged from wall
If you continue to have issues, might be time for a new one
Lukcily a new one is only ~$30
What would of changed just from me putting my gpu in and out
Bumped it without knowing
Or just a coincidence that it died while doing things
It's right under the edge of the GPU below the PCI-E slot
My cpu shut the PC down once when I forgot to replug my pump in, could that of done anything to it
doubtful
Was on without pump running for less than like 2-3 mins
CPU shouldn't affect the wifi card
Nah, don't need to plug or unplug the cables. It's like an M.2 SSD, take the screw out of the end, remove card, put it back, put screw back
Check the cables to be sure they're connected firmly though but don't need to remove to reseat the card
That top one looks kinda bent now that you mention it
Alright let me see about reseating this
Doesn't look horrible but a quick check might save you $30
Oh, that other antenna wire looks like it might be touching the screw and grounding out??
Check that too
It’s out, anything I should be looking at in particular before i put it back in?
Not really, make sure the antenna wires aren't touching the screw and it's seated fully
Reseated, how does that look
Looks good
alright back on pc with it back in
everything boots fine and its detected, wifi is there
let me just wait and see i guess
Ya, if it keeps disappearing, might need to replace the WiFi card
^ I've got a spare wifi 6 m.2 card I could send you
Nice!!
weirdly my rgb isnt working with signalrgb tho
Out of the frying pan into the fire
That is outside my expertise, never been good with RGB
i still have to put my gpu back in which is scary since thats right by my wifi card
Keep your fingers away from slot and bottom of card, you'll be fine
Okay update
GPU was back in and it was working fine
Just now my rgb turned on and off and on again, my Bluetooth headphones disconnected, reconnected, then disconnected again, and then my wifi dropped
Clicking on my wifi card it says there are no drivers for it
But it is showing in device manager
No yellow ! icon or anything?
Have a look by your GPU, is it touching the WiFi card at all? Does the GPU have a big cooler on it?
In device manager no not that I can see
It if it’s I couldn’t tell, its a xfx 6950xt so it’s a big cooler
You ain't kidding!
It was running fine for 30 mins
It looks like the cooler shouldn't touch the WiFi card itself, although the wires for the antenna might be getting bent or something?
Could just be a bum card too, in my opinion, I'd message Bacca about the other WiFi card they have and try that
At this point would it have anything to do with the wifi card drivers
Clicking on it in device manager says none are insyalled
Possibly. Check the motherboard support section for drivers and reinstall if you'd like
Click, Unzip, Install
bro what is happening
I can’t even restart my pc
It’s just sitting on the windows restart screen
Downloaded it, now restarting
alright im back in and stuff is working, but I know its not
my rgb isnt on, but in my rgb software it says it is, if my wifi drops or acts weird again which I bet it is going to, the lights will come on for a few seconds and turn off like it did last time
I would just reinstall windows atp
how
With a USB with windows on it
