Another thing: 4060 Ti vs 7700 XT?
I'm not the most versed on pc stuff but I've heard a lot of people say to not go nvidia
But the 4060 ti has more vram and it's like the same price
wait no i'm trippin
I could've sworn I saw a 16gb model
4060ti 16 is a joke
not faster than 3060ti at all
balancing on parts choice is heavily dependent on your budget and use case
there's no one list that always work for anything and any budget
vram count isn't be-all-end-all
nor is cpu core count
@forest lava what's your pc budget
I was thinking $1400-$1500
The cheaper I can go, the better, because I also no longer own a desk, chair, monitor, and some peripherals
Let's knock it down a peg then
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6700 XT, Montech X3 Mesh ATX Mid Tower
Or this
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/nZwLFs
@forest lava
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7800 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
A 7800x3d would fit if you went a little over budget
Sorry, actually still a little under, I misread 1300-1400 not 1400-1500
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Both would provide ample gaming experiences
Alr thanks for this
I'm mostly looking for something I can use to play at high fps on higher settings
I had the misfortune of owning a 3050 and had a lot of trouble running newer and higher fidelity games well
These both should run their appropriate monitors quite well
7800xt is also sort of where the value for money kinda stops?
We get the rare 7900 sale but not atm
Same with 4070ti
Just not the appropriate time as it's just after the november sales
ah curse me for not going for a pc earlier then
Isn't it better to get a normal mobo and get a separate pcie adapter?
Not really
Matx is fine
It's just atx with less plugs
Some mobos cheapen a bit more on top of that but, well...not really here
Both boards are ample
No I meant a mobo without integrated wifi
Oh that
Nah
If anything the integrated ones are better for cable management
They all use broadcom or intel wifi chips
Cards and mobos alike
You could get better antennas?
If you really found yourself needing it that is
It's all the same hardware though end of the day
Alrighty then
I'm probably gonna end up using ethernet anyways if I can somehow work the router into my room
Either way you'll have the option tho
Anything wifi 6 or better (ac) is typically solid for gaming anyway
I already have 5tb of storage laying around (2tb nvme, 3tb hdd), so I don't need the listed ssd. What would I be able to do with an extra $52 on this part list?
Save it tbh
Not really anything else worth upgrading
Oh
Maybe one thing
For the 7800x3d list
Change ram for flair
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/bbJgXL/teamgroup-t-force-delta-rgb-32-gb-2-x-16-gb-ddr5-5600-cl32-memory-ff4d532g5600hc32dc01
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WKqC4M
Another $12 or so
But other than that no
You could consider maybe swapping to a better gpu brand
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/fcBzK8/sapphire-pulse-radeon-rx-7800-xt-16-gb-video-card-11330-02-20g
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/9PJJgB
Another $20
Sapphire is better but the asrock is still perfectly fine
Like electrically the cards are identical
But cooler wise, design and feel
the sapphire is quiet asf
You'll get your 20 worth out of it
Idk
Yeah it makes those now
yuck.
Each link I'm adding I'm updating with changes
Much appreciated
Should look like this now
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/VJnPQP
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
If the 7900xt was still on sale it would fit here
hmmm
You'd be about 80 over budget I think
he could get some deals w tiktok shop
Sure, except I can't see any of those
I do
mhm
Worth
it's the only color cause black is oos
Tho not matx
matx is generally better than atx?
Air 100 I thought was atx no
it really depends but size doesn't matter here
air 903 max is what you're thinking of
Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower Case vs. Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower Case
mhm
Ok so
How much is the air 100 tho
let me check
55 - ok
45 - great
What about black cases
63.99-20$ + 10$ shipping + tax..
54
so it comes out to 61$
nah nvm I'll go white this time
nah why not go white
otherwise that's the only white case that's cheap without removing the quality
it'd be boring to go black every time
Alr
montech 903 max white is 5$ more
but otherwise that's it
they charge 10$ shipping for cases and some items
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Xeon E5 2666v3,X99 Board, 16GB DDR3, CPU Cooler - $56
GTX 1080 - $100
PSU - $70
240GB SSD & 1TB HDD - $10
Case & Fans: NIL
Total: $236
Worthwhile change of case
How much should i sell the PC for?
Gonna try $400
It won't translate to what anyone else says here
For one I'm Aussie and everyone else and their dog is north American
Lol
I can't wait to own a fully modular psu
having a non-modular in my last pc was hell
I cringed every time I opened the back
lmao
Modular is ironically worse to manage lmao
huhhhhhhh how is that possible?
I mean $500 will give me a VERY good profit margin
Ah crap
Gonna do $450
There's 3060 pcs at the $550 range
Actually
Psychological warfare
$499
ahhh I love money
One final thing...
When they make modular, they shrink each wire really tight and stiff
Where as on non modular, wires are really loose and flexible
You have more to deal with on non modular typically but they fold away so much easier
I mean if you're ridiculous with it yeah
But typically no
It's just a side effect of shrink wrapping
Whenever I google TN vs VA vs IPS, I always hear that TN has a faster response time but worse colors, but my last monitor wasn't TN and had 1ms with 144hz refresh rate. Is the difference between the panels outside of visuals actually important?
No but I really enjoy high fps but also good visuals
I think I put an ips in there
Yeah I know, I never liked TN but I don't want to potentially get something worse
The best looking imo is va or oled
But you get ghosting on va
(va also includes qled)
Doesn't OLED ghost too?
Oled is one of the least likely to ghost ever
OLED has an insane advantage in colour, response and clarity
Actually
Responsiveness is typically near or sub 0.01ms
Better question
OLED looks expensive as hell though
How much more are y'all willing to pay for a lc 1080 over a regular 1080?
Probably normal 1080 price
I'm guessing sea hawk
What about IPS?
Yea
Yes, it's a natural winner
Ips is nice, but you don't get very clear colour or contrast
VA is nice, but you don't get clear frames without a tiny bit of ghosting
TN can't really comment
IPS is probably the winner here then
I've either put a good va or ips in the list
Then the remaining like, 20? Could go to a better screen
Chinese market is stupid good if you know your way around used shops
And also X79/X99
My last monitor was VA too so it's probably not a problem
Xeons are stupid cheap
Like go one generation back and you spend half as much on a pc
Pascal stupid cheap
Ok this is maxed out @forest lava
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/n7vBGP
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
You need to use tiktok shop to get the cheap psu
Np
Can't think of anything else at this point
Hmmm
Yeah nope, intel won't come close here
Best we can do
good luck
tyty
Anyone know what to look for in a wifi bluetooth card?
my aio is positioned at the top and i have the tubes on the left side, is that okay?
Yes
The meme gn concern is dont have the pump at the highest point in the loop
wdym highest point in the loop?
i would send a photo if i could
If your radiator is at the top and its a traditional design with the pump on the part that mounts to the socket you are good
Like with regards to what part of the loop is physically the highest up
If its this design idk what to tell you tbh but yea what you have seems fine
hello, I am having issues with my first boot up. RGB turns on but no display. Post status checker lights are showing for CPU and RAM. pcpartpicker showed the parts were compatible but the AsRock website doesnt show the RAM as compatible for their MB. I assume RAM is one problem but does anyone know solutions for CPU?
MB: Asrock B650M pro
CPU: Ryzen 7 7800x3d
RAM: Corsair Vengeance 32bg (CMH32GX5M2D6000C36W)
GPU RX 7900XTX
Ram may be dead, Corsair isn’t the most reliable.
Plug everything back in, and leave one stick of ram inside B1 (aka the 2nd slot) call this ram stick R1.
If it doesn’t boot, take R2 (ram stick 2) and put that in B1.
Same thing, no boot take R1 and put it in B2 (slot 4)
Keep switching back and forth, basically trying both ram sticks in each slot to see if it boots. There can be many issues but it’s likely that the RAM is the issue.
@split cliff what is that screen right above your CPU?
what exactly is unreliable about corsair?
Is this your first build?
corsair ram is actual trash
always using bottom bin chips wherever possible
locking pmic's down
poor QC quality, tons of kits barely make rated xmp
dominator heatsinks are their only redeeming feature and they charge a fortune for them so it's absolutely not worth it
icue support is flaky at best
most of the ram issues I see has corsair stamped on it
need I go on?
I wouldn't know about their higher end
I'm not prepared to spend umpteenth amounts more for corsair branding on the same stick lol
I've been saying this for a long time
lmao
their cases are ok, they used to be better bang for the buck
it's really just the psus now
meh
They still sell the 900D
while yes it's a fine case
they charge full retail price for it
the only reason you would buy it is for the 5.25" bays
pop air exists
phanteks enthoo in the chat
or just anything with good build quality really
i miss my enthoo pro 2 tbh
great case
oh yeah
lian li is also good but they don't have much on the lower end
I'm also starting to develop a fascinating for compact MATX cases
they're like ITX but way more affordable
not just in case prices but the fact that you don't have to get a itx board (and sometimes you can use a ATX PSU with them)
o11 air mini
eh, not really low end
but I mean
that's on the mid range but yeah
for server stuff? meh kinda
i mean tbh that is a good price range
it is pretty pricey but usually the cases at that range are really good
for a case that is extremely modular, 110 isn't bad
personally I don't like the o11's anymore, but they're very practical
tho I kinda want a case that has removable 5.25" bays
it does tho
yes
can i put a blu ray drive in it?
aw
optical bays are a no
to be fair barely any cases have that feature anymore
sorry, mixed up 3.5" with 5.25"
lol
pop air
does it?
ohhh
specifically has the enablement of a 5.25
that's a pretty neat solution
too small for me tho sadly
then pop xl air
I kinda want a server case with a 5.25" drive
"case"
enthoo is like
the mindset of enthoo is like "how much hardware can we possibly fit in a case"
that's the enthoo
TWO computers and a crap load of hard drives
can legit have a gaming pc and a server in the same chassis
TR + ITX Ryzen
yeah
I'm moving in the exact opposite direction really
instead of going for maximum space for hdds
I'm going for the most compact and portable setup
So I’m building my first pc and testing my prebuild (motherboard-gpu-cpu-cooler-power out of the case with a screwdriver as a power switch) to make sure everything is good,
I’m trying to get my monitor to pull up the boot screen
Instead, everything turns on then turns off over and over again??
This is all i got if it helps:
Any idea why that might be happening?
hmm
this is probably not the issue but
a dead, missing, or improperly seated cmos batteries causes the motherboard to boot loop
so maybe try replacing or reseating the cmos battery
it might also be improperly seated ram
Anyone know what case the OMEN 25L uses or if there’s similar?
I like it
I saw it at Best Buy
Omen 25L is an OEM case
Oh
Well I liked the pre-built look a lot
Might’ve been the small air cooler cooler and minimal RGB
I’ve only used Phanteks cases
I dunno if that’s a good or bad thing
I think this is the one I saw
Anyone know a similar case?
I’ll try that once I’m back from work tonight, thank you
ahahha
You've been sheltered from the poorly built sub-$50 cases
I just think my rig now has too many ridges
Change your mind on selling it?
No, I still wanna
Just can’t find anyone to buy it
I want a laptop or downgraded rig (Like an actual 1080p rig)
But many a laptop
can anyone help me out here, upgraded from an older system not too long ago and the old one has been sat gathering dust. What would be the right price (£) for a r7 1700 + gtx 1070 16gb ddr4 system? only thing missing is a storage device.
New side panel filter finally came in, now the sleeper looks even better
It does trap some of the heat but it's not too bad, GPU still around 60C being not too loud
Tomorrow I'll mount the new CPU cooler
i7 4770 and Vega 56 pulling 400w with heaven benchmark
So, a friend of mine doesn’t have discord, but he wants a build for his new gaming room. He Came up with some guidelines for his pc.
“Something that can game 1440p high settings at no problem, I want H6 flow as a case, AMD cpu only, and white build sort of, I want some white rgb fans too.”
Budget of $1300 MAX. No peripherals needed.
@potent portal, would you be able to build a PCPP list for them?
that's sort of an odd build request, with amd cpu only
Yeah, I told him that.
But he’s sticking to his guns.
It's alright, I'll make a quick build
Ty. He’s a bit of an odd one, if that explains the choices lmao
i don't get the h6 flow as it looks kinda bad imo, but he likes what he likes
no
Not worth it?
not really
I'm trying to make a 670 build
a used 5700xt is around that price, so not worth it
Part List - Intel Core i3-12100F, Radeon RX 6600, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
What about this?
This is the build I have
Can you help me fix it
yeah, just let me help someone else first
Never take that PSU
I'm trying to keep it below 670
Alrighty
Saved Part Lists
This was the other one I had
Tiktok shop rn doesn't have many good deals
I've been checking daily on a few different devices and accounts
Damn
If you can, do you think we can maybe use some of those new egg Christmas discounts?
yeah sure
Alrighty
@crimson zinc this is what I have rn https://pcpartpicker.com/list/Y8Pyt7
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7800 XT, MagniumGear NEO AIR (2023) ATX Mid Tower
I had this 7900xt in there, but it went over budget slightly https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cBFWz6
If I really wanted that 7900xt in there under budget, I could cut the ram to this, https://pcpartpicker.com/list/hQwwyg, but I don't feel comfortable getting that bad of ram
alright, this is the best I can do for ya https://pcpartpicker.com/list/tnNkWt, probably will have to ask someone else, because I don't know what else to cut to get to that 1300 budget
that aint bad
I'd get that If I was looking to build a pc
also, if you want to stop getting buyers remorse, stop looking at gpus
@serene onyx https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pk8RYN
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6700 XT, MagniumGear NEO AIR (2023) ATX Mid Tower
could probably get a better price with a used gpu
Thank you
yeah no problem man
@pseudo pollen are amazon used gpus good
eh, not really
I'm looking at used gpus rn, and none of them are in the $350-ish dollar range
Damn
could get like a 3070 ti, but not worth it imo
Yeah I feel you
used 3070 could save some money if you wanted
it's a 6650xt in performance iirc
not the biggest difference, but it's there
Do you think it would be noticeable? Cause this build is for my cousin
Oh wow
20% difference is pretty noticable imo
It's still around $50 under budget too
that's if you can get the same prices that I did on tiktok
true
My cousin gave me 670$ so I'm trying not to pay the taxes out of pocket with my money 😭
not the link lol
I thought it would get rid of it 😭
The link added on to it
will it happen again...
This time it worked 😭
no it just sent as a gif
this one is animated
wait what
yeah
Alright
actually maybe not
just buy one thing on one acc and see if that coupon is still there
I bought a few things on tiktok, and after a while I get the coupons again
A decently long while
Oh god
make new accounts, it's not too hard
Alright
just get a proton mail acc, some new gmail accounts
grab your mom's email if that's what it takes
The coupon is not appearing
that happens sometimes
if you have another device try it on that
if you have a pc you can get bluestacks, which is an android emulator
and get tiktok on that
😭
it's annoying, but you gotta do what you gotta do
or you can get the parts from normal websites and just get worse parts
Yeah
I might have too
I'll probably buy like 2 parts from tiktok
And the rest that way
maybe, choose the most expensive parts then buy them on tiktok
Alrighty
like cpu and ram/ssd probably
actually, cpu and psu
those you can save the most money on
Alrighty
Is this monitor better than the XV272U? https://www.costco.com/msi-27"-wqhd-ips-nvidia-g-sync-gaming-monitor.product.4000203457.html
looks like a decent monitor, not sure on the panel quality though
yooo just beat my record
About to buy parts in a moment.
Going with these parts:
- 7950x3D (Game & Work)
- X670-P motherboard from MSI
- ram, would like some help with this. Debating on this kit: https://www.amazon.com.mx/gp/product/B0BPHRJX6F/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?smid=A1G99GVHAT2WD8&psc=1
cl46 5600mhz isn't too good of a kit, probably something around that price that has a better cas latency
yeah that makes sense
I heard this is guarenteed Hynix which ocs well? I don't mind manual tuning so long as that's the case.
yeah that's outside of my knowledge, probably have to ask someone else about that
Ok so I messed with the thing a lil
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Radeon RX 6600, DIYPC ARGB-Q3 MicroATX Mini Tower
Is this good?
I got it below 670$ (including the taxes)
Hynix 16Gbit A and M-die OC well, M-die is better but i cant tell you any specifics off the top of my head or how to identify it
ddr3 better
are these teamgroup sticks guarenteed A or M die?
they say Hynix IC in the name.
with an xmp that low i wouldnt be surprised if it wasnt mdie, but it might be similar to S8B where there's a big difference in the lower-upper limits of kits its used it iirc
so yea idk lol
ask forks he messes with ddr5 a lot
Is it allowed to ping in here?
I am about to pull the trigger after a year of waiting so I wanna make sure I get the right kit.
@pseudo pollen hey
What's up
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Radeon RX 6600, DIYPC ARGB-Q3 MicroATX Mini Tower
Is this good
This is what I was able to do not using the coupons
It's like 633$ taxes included
The case uses pop out pcie covers, molex fans, and the motherboard hangs over the edge over the fans
Yeah
Yeah, they're getting pretty cheap now so you don't have to get a crap case
Yeah I get you
Good luck on the build!
swapping the RAM fixed it. I guess I read the instructions wrong and placed the RAM in the A slots. Holding it the other way, I slotted my ram to the B slot and now boots up. Weird how B goes before A....whatever, it works now thanks
it depends on the ram
cause some recommend to do B1 and B2 instead of A1 and A2
AsRock B650 pro recommends B first. But I was looking at the MB upside down and inserted it in A slots
Lmfao
That would legit do it
glad that was the only issue, was worried my CPU was dead.
The 1st and 3rd channels from the cpu are weaker on some motherboards than the 2nd and 4th
Almost like, they don't need to be there anyway
One's my server profile
Ah
Anyways I found a used 6800xt for 300$, then 6950xt at microcenter for 550$
And as of right now I’m getting fricked over by Microsoft’s cash back with my 7800xt
You can, they have support emails
Search up Microsoft cash back on Reddit
Trust me man
I’ve waited 3 weeks
No reply
Isn’t in my junk mail considering it’s appearing in my focus, would be a massive issue if Microsoft emails appeared in Microsoft junk bin
I'm not sure what the issue is
No there? Stuck on ms?
Apparently that cashback appears on your ms account
Or something like that
Nope
I’ll show you
@cyan ravine
Ok so no email yet
I got this email for purchasing the order through edge after redeeming cashback
Have you checked that cashback account for it
hmm
yell at ms about it
Then hassle the crap out of their support
Just keep hassling
I was supposed to have my cashback redeemed on the 28th of November
hassle em on and on
but it POOFED
Reminds me of when razer just "broke my phone" after withholding it for 3 months
and the dumb MS mods are like "just reply with a support here"
That was a fun time
oof
Just keep hassling
ya im gonna start calling the wrong support lines
for like advertisement and business
If you wait and stay patient, they will think you can keep waiting
sell it while i can
Mine was working until they broke it
It had a loose usb-c plug
Ez fix
Apparently not?
Oh I thought that was allowed
Lmao
In hindsight razer were just asses, broke the phone to make me pay
asus rma here is amazing
warranty still on? rma anything
no questions asked
the technician broke some parts during the fix? free replacement of said broken parts
i wanna buy an asus phone but they stopped making budget ones
only the gaymer and zenfone
Zenfone would be my next phone
I've been back on armoury crate for some time now, I think they've fixed whatever bs was plaguing it
Not that I recommend the software, but it used to be terribly buggy
They have a limit on how many emails you can send to cashback
which is 1!
i'm on MS advertisement rn for support
not yelling at this lady but i'm ranting about where's my money
if they don't help, to microsoft business!!
Does anyone have experience with the arctic freeze ii 360 liquid freezer?
This thing is massiveeee idk how to fit it into the case
Seems like there isn’t enough clearance no matter where i try to put it!!!
-The radiator portion-
Okay. If I had a budget of $2,500, and wanted peripherals with it, could someone build me something? Preferably a white case.
excluding peripherals, how much do you want to spend?
Max of $2500.
actually with ram https://pcpartpicker.com/list/2TRNxH
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G300A (3 Fan) ATX Mid Tower
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/8CkvdH could fit this 4090 if you wanted
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, GeForce RTX 4090, Phanteks Eclipse G300A (3 Fan) ATX Mid Tower
All 4090's out of stock
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Could also do gigabyte m27q-x for the monitor
450 isn't really worth it though unless you need a kvm (if you don't know what this is then you probably don't need it)
If you wanted OLED this is slightly over budget too @crimson zinc
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4jkvdH
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
Could trim down to be under tho
Like we did a 1tb ssd instead
And ditch the air cooler and use the one that comes with the cpu
Actually this is right on the dot:
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 100 ARGB MicroATX Mid Tower
This specific oled is definitely worth it if you go with it
What case?
yall rate this https://pcpartpicker.com/user/AdrielGaming/saved/rb3fpg
Is this good? - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6700 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
what's ur budget
the gpu price isn't shown
welp
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 5600, Radeon RX 6700 XT, BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
or change psu to this if you want something a little beefier
it's in budget
i dont even know
im gonna change that
well I posted a list there that's cheaper/same if you want feedback
should be much better
recommended ram speed and cl for 7900x?
thinking of upgrading and turning my 5900x into a sweet server host for mc and other misc stuff
recommended max of 5200 by AMD but like
5600 or 6000
cause I've been running my 5900x with 3600 cl16 absolutely fine since ryzen 5000 launched
whatever is stable for whatever capacity you think you need
64gb can work up to 6400
48gb as well
128gb you'd want to consider 4800 or less
192gb as well
what y’all think about this prebuilt for my younger brother
https://a.co/d/9xQOsHP
Really bad for the price, this is a good bit cheaper and better build quality and stuff
https://www.bestbuy.com/site/msi-codex-r-gaming-desktop-intel-core-i5-12400f-16gb-memory-nvidia-geforce-rtx-4060-1tb-ssd-black/6559039.p?skuId=6559039
if I were to upgrade the ram to 32gb could I just install two more of the same sticks into the other slots?
Technically it's a gamble but yeah should be fine
PC has two kits of 32gb 6800cl36 ddr5 but will only run stable on 6400
Hello I bought I5 12600k and MSI MAG B760 Tomahawk WiFi motherboard
I need a good cpu cooler less than 100 CAD any recommendation
Canada though
im so excited for my build. Fal what do u recommend i do first? should i install the mobo in the case then the cpu and cooler or should i install both on the mobo before installing the mobo in the case
Air cooling right? Install the cooler before putting in the motherboard, and attach the CPU power cable before too
And memory while you're at it, might as well
Heck even the M.2 if you wanted
Anything you can attach before you limit your working space is one less headache
Yea air cooling, my cpu cooler is that big one the overkill xD, I was gonna install the cpu cooler and cpu after bc i have to figure out if my bios is on the right version to support my cpu
Does anyone here have any experience with gaming laptops? Fiancé wants one and I have a pick for her.
You can do that before you install the board too. No need for a case, set it in the motherboard box. Cardboard is non-conductive.
so i can install the cpu then or does it not matter
If you have flashback you can update the bios before anything else, you just need power cables.
But it still works with or without everything else installed
Flashback?
The bios flash button
It lets you update the bios without turning on the motherboard
Not for flashback, but if you want to do a boot test yes you can do that and skip the GPU for now
It might take a few minutes for first boot
tell me how this makes any sense at all? for gaming it says 0 but for general task 19% lol?
Those calculators are worthless
i think so
it told me its to weak
like what
amd is the best for gaming
lol
also i get my pc back in a few hours
Second best gaming processor is too weak for the 20th best GPU lol
i got it all to work
this got to be made up i just refreshed the page
and it
says 46% now
so its just giving me random numbers
Possibly. Maybe it detects if you have AMD or Intel and gives a number within a certain range.
Caught in 4k lol
so i just hook up the psu to the mobo? and then just click flashback and it updates to the right bios?
The grammar is awful too on that site
Bruh that range though
Yes you can just connect the 24 pin and CPU power, plug in the USB drive with the bios on it, and hit the update button.
Exact steps vary by model.
..
now i know this site is lieing LOL its telling me my pc can get 600 on low settings and im on all low and cant get solid 240
thats the max
xd
so install the cpu then? or not lol i assume i do since i plug in the cpu power
so so cpu can handle the 4090 is what this is saying lol?
also falcie i got a issue
i left the plastic on the thing that goes aabove the ssd
that covers the sticky pad
is that ok or do i need to remove the cpu and remove it
The heatsink? Yeah you'll want to remove the plastic. It'll stop the heatsink from doing its job.
Which honestly isn't a big issue unless you're using a gen 4 or 5 drive, it might be ok on a gen 3.
you can ignore this, thats wrong lol
where'd you see that
It’s basically a website that compares bottlenecks
But in reality
It ain’t true
can anyone help me?
my pc deadlocked last night after like a month of no crashes after I replaced my ram and psu
i didn't get any crash or error dumps
it was just like an extended freeze and i ended up having to hold the power button down because nothing was happening
like no caps lock response
alright, ill ask more when my mobo actually comes for i can it,
not sure how they're measuring that but depending on how you do things a 14900k could be too strong even for a 4090 at 1080p
for 1440p at a bare minimum you'd run a 4090 with one though, generally speaking
Yeah it's not technically wrong, a 4090 at 1080p is just... why.
all bottleneck calculators are like that
not totally wrong just
generalising is a terrible idea
Which is why it's wrong
it's not totally wrong
It's the same kind of wrong as UBM though
We should get a ?bottleneckcalc
Its like saying x99 is still a viable option to daily 😭😭😭
man just admitted to years of preaching the untruths
💀
Are you saying it's not? I was just running handbrake on my E5 1650v2 yesterday
Dailying am5 and ddr5 has changed me. Maybe I should revert to my old ways
(granted it was at 408x360 resolution but it worked fine)

DDR5>DDR3
Considering you can have 12 channels of DDR5 now, yeah that's hard to dispute
24 channel ddr3
Would still only be half the bandwidth
96 channel take it or leave it
But can you have 1TB of memory on a single board with DDR3
Imagine running a ramdrive off that
🥴
64GB dimms are 19 bucks or so now iirc
and i happen to have access to some r720s....
won't fit

did you just make this LOL
valid
im running more ddr3 soon
3570k 4820k and 4930k though i save that one for later
So you'd only need 16 slots, and to cross your fingers they all work
wait no im running the 4930k instead of the 4820k
Upgrade your computer's memory with this high-quality Samsung 64GB RAM module. This DDR3 SDRAM module is perfect for increasing your computer's speed and multitasking capabilities. The module features ECC LRDIMM technology and has a total capacity of 64GB, with a capacity of 64GB per module. This module is designed for use with LRDIMM-compatible...
8Rx4 lmao
insane
it would only cost 303 bucks
thats really cheap for 1TB
I'm dreading geting 128gb ddr5 ecc lol it's over 1k 😦
simple solution, use ddr3 instead /s
use ddr4
ECC D4 is still pricy too tho
can't use ddr4
*high capacity
DDR5 supports 512GB sticks
It would take exactly 2 of those to make 1TB
12 channels, 2 slots per channel
12TB in one epyc computer
but yeah my dilemma is choosing 128gb 6400 or 256gb 4800 for 1k lol
What are you using it for
raw editing and 3d rendering
larger capacity 100%
Yeah you don't need speed for that
128gb at slower speeds an option?
And what would the price diff be?
technically yeah, 128gb 4800 is like 500
Then again if I'm gonna go with the slower ram might as well go higher capacity lol
That seems like the best option imo, unless your tasks actually need 256gb
What about 2x96 kits?
probably what I'm gonna do
They have 96GB ones too
Oh hmm didn't see them
Samsung is also starting production on their 32Gb ICs, so 128GB sticks are within easy reach
Maybe I should just wait
Maybe wait for 128gb dimms and see if people offload the 64gb lol
Mostly the ones that can afford to do that are the likes of Google and Amazon
wanna know what isnt so great, so i got 2 copys of the new avatar but the other person needs to have the cpu or gpu for it to work :|
yes
they register it to the hardware
to avoid people mass buying > returning > redeeming all the codes
you can try subreddits like steamgameswap or gametrade. Sometimes people have the hardware but didn't catch the game key promo and are willing to pay
So I'm almost done with my pc
But
I get a vga light
Any help?
I've reseated the gpu twice
reseat ram, make sure all cables are plugged in
The ram?
Bios bug then
i mean if it works it works
So were good
If everything is working as expected then yes
I think the bios is just forgetting to turn the light off
Anybody know a good budget $60 to 70$ atx case
G300A
I'd take the g300a or pop air over it, but someone else might take the 903 max
I don’t like fractual tbh
Charges for shipping and wants you to pay for a usb c adapter for a front io
Oh by the way if anybody knows
My dads trying to use his very old black external harddrive, I mean this thing is like the size of a mini pc.
Probably from 2002-2006 maybe? I’m wondering would there be any damage to it if I were to plug it in a usb-A 3 or 2?
had this happen Sunday night with a Christmas tree
At $70 after shipping its a pretty nice case
But understandable
I dont think it would, usb is backwards and forwards compatible, but I'm not 100% certain
👀
60$ 6000CL38
Unless 5600c46 t create kit is similar price
5600 is back down like 108 I think
It's gauranteed hynix
So great with 5 min of changing settings in bios
Even better with a couple hours
?
!!
@ornate condor how much would this be for you if you have tiktok shop? 👀
CL latency has almost no impact on performance
ew
No promises it works at all. The magnets usually have a life span around 10 years.
To add to this, the tertiary timings seem to have the largest effect on performance, with the secondaries being fairly significant as well. Primaries are the last thing to touch on DDR5. oddly enough you can lose performance by putting primaries too low, especially on Samsung.
IT WORKS HA
the harddrive
just the windows 11 is so incompatible for it
it's crazy
anyways is there a difference between the b550 or x570 mobos considering it's last gen?
if, for some reason, you absolutely require pcie 4 on more than just a graphics card and one nvme, then get x570
otherwise, get b550
Also a lot of motherboards have some sata ports that are disabled when there's a NVMe ssd installed
X570 can actually be worse than B550 because it has the chipset fan and since B550 is a newer design they might have better memory trace layout
But usually you wont enough sata drives for that to be an issue
i am honestly struggling to think of any use case for this
ya just looking at tiktok shop rn
x570 boards are fine but avoid paying extra for them
no reason to avoid one at a good price
B550m pro se kinda unbeatable value, unless there's a new sale on tt with the holiday sale
Last I saw, it was $63, idk if it can have a coupon or not
Probably doesn't really help you since very different price platform wise, b650 live mixer is $120 after coupon
