They all are so overbuilt even the worst models stay cool
Just please use a sag bracket
embrace the sag
that sag's gonna become a crack
Especially on a gigabyte
those pictures ive seen of those bro
š
didnt they not allow rma
4090s are way too heavy and anyone running them unsupported has a death wish
Yeah there's been several documented refused repairs
mine's getting held up with a piece of string cheese
I used some tic tacs stacked on eachother vertically for my sag bracket
waterblock the card
How's it going all I'm looking to have a massive upgrade to my whole system and have been going through picking out some parts within my price range. If possible can I get some feedback or improvements on what I have? On a side note I'm planning on using my current storage (512 gb teamgroup ssd and a seagate 2tb hardrive). I'm also planning on keeping my current power supply (seasonic focus gold 550 w 80+). Is it possible to keep what I want and if not can I get any recommendations. https://pcpartpicker.com/list/3PZmCd
Already done it
Well to start with the 7600 is the same as the 7600X and you don't need the cooler at all if you get the 7600. I'm sure a couple of us will have some pointers.
So since the 7600 comes with a cooler I can get rid of that right
Yep
@simple cosmos
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/xspspB
But you need a new psu.
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
Right, the 7600 doesn't need more than a $20 air cooler at most
bet
If you were able to give up on the north, or spend more
This would be a solid all white upgrade
(problem is a white gpu is hard to find cheap so)
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7700 XT, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
all white with 7700xt
Also the asus tuf isn't much more, and you might like the look more
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Deepcool CC360 ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
disregard my list
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7800 XT, Fractal Design North ATX Mid Tower
If you don't mind explaining how is the 7700 better than the 3060ti?
Straight out destroys it
Its not far behind a 3080 in performance
7700xt is about as fast as 4070
But the 7800xt is better for $50
almost
Far better for $50
fair tho
Like, 10% more money, 20% more perf
The only problem I have is that I like the look if the fractal case but if it comes down to price to performance should I just say F it?
That's up to you
^
What's more important, looks or performance
north is a good case
just pricey
so to pay more for looks or not is your choice
Waterblocks are cheap tho
Oh okay so if I'm not reading this wrong that fractal case should be able to stuff all of the components
Yes
yes
Can get all for fairly cheap,
But I would suggest a cheaper case
aliexpress
The CC360 argb is good. The Nova M mesh argb is good
unrelated but acer nitro v15 seems to use 75w 4050
not bad for an even cheaper nitro
and all of this is windows 11 combadible?
ye
If you call $300 cheap, that's more than the white tax usually, plus harder to find good blocks for lower end cards
Mhm
works with win 11
Alrighty thanks everyone I appreaciate the feedbackl have a good one
*more terrible
Oath
Smh, just use macos
TempleOS master race
i'd rather use nothing than mac os
Meh I think it's still decent
if im forced to
Tell you what the m1 ipad is amazing
Which means it's probably 85% in reality
13450h+4050 75w, 16gb ddr5 and 144hz
Itās 2am for me, what do you think?
Love my m1
Drink
idk, but reviews on my tuf a15 with claimed 100% is close to it
like 96%
either way it shouldn't be too bad
Ima be real
The screen is NOT
The selling point there
im aware
My M1 is easily my favorite piece of tech
i just like it cuz it's got colors that are easy on the eyes
no eye fatigue at all
M1 Abrams > M1 Mac
qcomm is apparently making an arm soc for pc
snapdragon x or something
claims to beat apple's socs
the m2 stuff
Donāt make me come over there and take away your subway Felix
It might be good on teeny netbooks but I don't see the real advantage in full form there
Netbooks mostly being ChromeOS
Windows ARM edition sucks eggs
or one of those samsung tablet/laptop thingies
can confirm
i might get an aio in the future tho, the fan makes some annoying noise under load
custom loop
Air 4 lyf
Or adjust the fan curve so it never hits that annoying frequency
If you think an AIO would be less annoying you're sorely mistaken. Pumps are often a lot louder than fans.
I honestly want to do a full blackout build I think
Rgb is cool but Iām kinda getting over it
YES

COME TO THE SIDE OF PERFECT
I saw this the other day and Iām like
#NZXT #Noctua #asuspcdiy - You've seen the Blackout NZXT H9 & H7 Flow on my channel, it's time to give the H5 the same treatment! Are you ready for zero RGB and lights out?!

the D15 is a good cooler
but it is also outdated
cheaper and more compact coolers that deliver similar performance have been out for a while
Thing is whoever built that probs already had the d15 for ages ^
ye
And it's like 10 years old
true
Ew, the h5
If it's the one that has the slide and a riser, yes that's decent
is there a better one for the same price?
Better? I mean if there's one specific to your case? Yes
The CM one is extremely versatile though
It's very good
that one cost 100 tho
It probably does
But that would be the objectively better one
Ez-diy fab has a couple options, including a tilt one
But not really recommended imo
i get about 20 dollars off of the coolermaster one
The CM one just caters to many cases so well due to the slider
if i buy it off tiktok shop
It's a good mount
will my case not fit it?
It's supposed to fit any atx case
At least the v2 definitely was
The slider lets you move the mount point, so you can have more space to fit cables through the pcie slots
So you can connect the dp and hdmi properly
Actually does the v3 have that? I have to check
It does
The clips on top are the slider adjustment
Do I have to use all 3 3x8 pin connectors on my GPU?
My PSU only came with 2 3x8 pin connector cables.
Itās the 7900xtx graphics card in case you wondering
The PSU I bought is 850W SFX
Actually I think Iām gonna have to buy a whole different PSU š¤¦š½āāļø
What psu do you have
Cooler master v850 sfx?
Lian li sp?
On two white Sfx psus I know of
@mossy venture
Yep
Does it have two pcie power cables?
If so, just use the extra cable at the end of one of them. Two separate cables will be fine
it should have two with a extinction
@mossy venture it came with 2 of these pig tail ones and then one straight 8 pin with no pig tail
The straight 8 pin is likely cpu power
Do not use that for your gpu
The pcie power, use two separate cables
And on one of the cables use the second 8 pin it has
use those for gpou straight for cpu
I heard itās not good to use both ends of the pig tail to plug into GPU because the wires might burn? Is that wrong @mossy venture @south cliff
it's not good, but it won't burn.
its perfectly fine
it's also not bad in this case
it's not good if for example you have a 2 pin 3080, and you use the pigtail
but for a 3 pin xtx, it's fine
gulp i do that for my 6800
Whew š° @mossy venture ok dam I was about to buy a whole new PSU just now lol
Sorry Iām still learning the pc world language lol.
Itx pertains to the motherboard type yeah?
My specs:
Case- O11 Lian Li mini dynamic
M/B- ASRock B650M Pro RS
@mossy venture basically looks like this
looks nice
Ah nice
Itās the one ive been working on for the past 5 days asking you and everyone in this discord to help me out together since itās my first ever Pc lol
man i love a white build i wouldve went with a white build but it cost mroe
@mossy venture @south cliff I owe putting this build to you 2 guys and everyone in this discord for helping me out it together lol. I have yet to boot it up for the first time
Alright boys well Iāll hook up these cables and power it on for the first time! Wish me luck
Good luck hope everything goes wonderful
@mossy venture do i need to connect the Front USB3.2 Gen2 Type-C
is that only fo the usb type c port on top of my case
becsaue i had it plugged in but they put it in a spot that is pretty far away so it kinda looks ungly so i unpluged it
Letās go! It works! @south cliff @mossy venture @cyan ravine @potent portal . You all helped me out this together. Took me 5 days but it came out nice!
nice! glad it's working
nice now you know its working you can maybe go back over everything and make sure everything is pugged in correctly and maybe fix up some cable managment
Hello guys
I need opinions
My friend wants to buy a pc from Best Buy only cuz his mom said so for some reason, and his budget is around 800 to 900
Are there any decent computers at that price at Best Buy?
US
I told him to build a pc but he doesnāt want because of his mom
not really
Ik man im telling him but he isnāt listening
me personally i would prob just get a ps5 or xbox series x unless he wants to permently switch becasue unless he building his own i dont think there would be any pre build that could match the ptp opf the xbox or ps5
ill take a look but i doubt theres much
He does YouTube so pc only
Alright thank you
and while it is skytech https://www.bestbuy.com/site/skytech-gaming-blaze-3-0-gaming-desktop-pc-intel-core-i5-10400f-16g-memory-amd-radeon-rx6600xt-500g-ssd-white/6499428.p?skuId=6499428
still i would tell him that he should save
Same I might just tell him to wait and build his own honestly or buy my computer
what pc do you have
not bad
pretty good for 800
better than the pc he linked
he said his mom wont allow him or smt like that
no if tech sold him his
.
oh my bad yeah he could do that
start over
Imma try convincing his mom and stuff
then technox could build a better pc than the one he just did for what he sells it for
yeah i would do that
Yeah I wanna upgrade to ddr5 ong
Imma convince him more and wait until he can build his own
Thanks guys
there's a ddr5 kit on tiktok for like $50 after coupon
6000c38 iirc
which isn't hynix, but ddr5 32g and $50
Well canāt get it now it depends if he wanna buy my pc XD
yeye
Iām not overlocking any so itās fine
i would get ddr5 but i would hae to switch motherboard
I meant like when I sell and get a new computer
i know
yeah tech if you do, lmk i could set you up with a list again with tiktok
fr
Stock amd coolers make so much noise bro holy
Ok he talked to his mom and his mom said sheāll think about it
W
or you could also build him his own pc
I told him but he said he would wanna buy mine
Which is good for me cuz now I can make better decisions and make a better pc
actually w
sick dude
main thing will be getting another well priced gpu
Yeah biggest thing
I gotta see
you'll still easily be able to build a better system with 800
dude i remember when i bought a i5 9600k for 192 dollars still hirts to this day
Main issue is the gpu tho they are all soooo expensive
Oops
I was looking at 4070 but itās 600 each lol
lol you need to look at a 6700xt
I donāt wanna get another 6700xt lol I wanna get something better
Maybe the 7000 generation
you kinda cant unless you wanna up the budget maybe find a use 6800-6800xt
520 or so
in an $800 build not likely
I'd say go for a used 6800xt
If I can find a used 6800xt Iāll try finding
6900xt/6950xt/3080/6800 worth taking a look for too
i wouldnt say 6900xt or 6950xt
eh, can find them for $450
7800xt maybe
where\
300 for the rest of the parts
but would be cutting corners in other areas in an $800 build
True
i saw a 6900xt on hws a couple days ago
I donāt wanna buy a non mod psu again
Itās pain
?
your gonna have to save then
Iām probably not gonna game as much anymore so imma just get a decent gpu and not the best
But weāll see
I'd say it would look something like this https://pcpartpicker.com/list/yHFDjH
Part List - Intel Core i5-12400F, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
then another 6700xt would be a good choice
very capable, will last a good while
True
Thatās nice
Anyways thank you
Imma head out and study
You'll have to get pretty lucky to be able to run that. You will need a K CPU so you can change the SA voltage, and most CPUs lose stability randomly between 7000-7400 even on the best motherboards. Sure it'll be stable enough to run a test if you try a few times, but you'll be crashing in games with no explanation.
No no I meant 7600 cpu and ddr5 ram
Ohhhhh
Myb
fair, part of it is that this a 20 dollar air cooler the fan is prob cheapish
the full black like dual tower cpu coolers look so sick though'
never seen it go past like 55c under load so im assuming its doing fine though
i can vouch for the p12s, they are very silent. I hate dealing with the rgb cables though,
expensive though (for the rgb ones)
C12c pog
If you wanted rgb it's actually cheaper to get the c12c 3 pack
Even if you were only using one fan
When I swap out my fans next time I am going SL-Infinities, I don't want to ever have to deal with daisy chaining dozens of fans ever again.
whats the pump noise like on this guy
https://www.amazon.com/ARCTIC-Liquid-Freezer-All-One/dp/B07WNJCVNW?ref_=ast_sto_dp
At ARCTIC, we are proud of our completely new all-in-one CPU water cooler series. For the Liquid Freezer II Series, we have used our experience in CPU water cooling to develop a completely new compact water cooling pump. The new pump of the Liquid Freezer II Series ensures an ideal ratio of high ...
I'm pretty sure lf2 is among the quietest aios
$140 is pretty pricey though
Notte 360 is $70 for at most 5c worse performance
You could get the 420mm for $140. (it only fits in like 4 mainstream cases)
I'd recommend the 280mm if you really wanted the LFII, which is really only the best on high power AM4.
Be careful, the LFII 420 is slightly bigger then 420mm so it doesn't fit all cases.
"Slightly" lol
Without modifications there's really only a few cases that fit it and they all cost a LOT
YEa it's the same "slightly" over 420mm as most are, 15+mm for the tubes on the end of course. Another vote for a 280mm, not far off performance of a 360mm model anyways.
458mm actually, so +38mm
It's larger than other 420s
Thicker too, the radiator is 38mm
I knew that. more messing w/ apex since almost no rad is "420mm".
My 900D
I am amazed the thing won't fit a Fractal Torrent without modding.
@fringe iris, awesome pc. š
What's the specs?
12600k 4070 32gb ddr4 and z73 i also have (2) 2 TB nvme.. I would love to upgrade cpu but i think my pc is good right now lol 12600k is more than capable
Pretty nifty setup. I am surprised you went D4 though,
12600k garbage, get 15900k
15900k garbage, get threadripper 9995wx
get rtx 9010
š
i need help lol my buddy has confused me, He is looking to build a PC that is primarily focused on home theater purposes such as streaming 4K content to his TV and storing photos and music. He also wants to copy his CDs in high resolution. Greg is not interested in fancy lighting and wants a good bang for the buck build that will provide audiophile sound quality. He doesn't play games and only wants something built from 2-3 years ago within a budget of $700 if possible.
If you're doing 4k streaming you'll want, at minimum, a GPU at the performance level of a 1070. You can get those pretty cheap, the rest of the system is mostly inconsequential.
A $700 budget is doable with a used GPU, but how much storage are we looking at here? And what kind of audio setup?
Would arc be a good choice there?
AV1 could be a nice feature, but I haven't seen too many transcode benchmarks from arc
Looks like A380 can transcode 4k to 4k at 43 fps, looking for lower source res benches
Iām not sure what audio setup but I would like help on choosing , also around 2-6tb of storage (2tb of Ssd Nvme, 4tb HDD)
Sadly I am not an audio guy so I can't really help pick out a system. If you had one in mind I could give you compatible hardware options for the PC but that's about it.
Only 6TB? Easy enough I think
I think 13400f/13500 would be a good choice?
Way out of budget
Gotta factor in storage
Yeah fair
Almost got it in https://pcpartpicker.com/list/cfCxgB
Part List - Intel Core i5-13400F, Arc A380, Antec NX500M MicroATX Mini Tower
Though I'm not sure if the mobo has a bios flash button, might want a similarly priced b760 if going 13400f
A580 should have some extra oomph for transcoding lower res to 4k
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/t3vMCd
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 4500, Arc A580, Thermaltake Versa H18 MicroATX Mini Tower
CPU is rather unimportant here
Oh I thought compiling was cpu, mb
Compiling is CPU but streaming is not
Oh I don't know where tf I got compiling from I just reread the message
Plus I snuck a 6TB HDD in there
That movie collection only gets bigger after all, I'm needing to add more to my 10TB server soon
Oh how is the apevia galaxy?
I'm on mobile and no ctrl f for tier list is annoying
Apevia only has 2 units on the tier list, and that's not one of them
Oh I think you accidentally put it on your list then instead of the Prestige
But realistically it'll only be running at 200W max
I can look for some load test results if it'll give you peace of mind lol
Oh nah I trust you just thought you accidentally added the wrong one
Nope I picked cheap on purpose
well i built the pc before 13 series and ddr5 was out haha thats why.. i had a 3070 i just recently got the 4090.. im slowly upgrading as I go
Gotcha. Keep up the good work.
(which was still better than DDR4)
lol
Preciate it
Well tbh when it came out i was looking for a cpu and not ram and im an idiot and didnt realize there was new ram š
what gpu do you have btw
the ring leds on the fans are cool
Mind if I ask how your experience with the Lian Li SL-Infinity fans have been?
A gigabyte 4070 OC
Really good actually, my temps are really good in my case and i love the colors and fans itself looks amazing
How's the cable management? Aesthetics aside, the main reason I keep contemplating them is I don't want to keep spending two hours everytime I need to redo my rgb cabling.
If you're spending 2hrs to cable manage multiple times on the same rig maybe reconsider your cable management strategy
I constantly swap out parts in my system as I upgrade is the main issue, xD.
So I want to reduce the amount of time I spend on it.
I change parts roughly every 2-3 months? New ram, rgb strips, storage, etc.
Really good actually, they dont have many cords tbh.. less than the fans I usually see with singles
Well got paid $300 for a 3600X and 5700 rig
Mostly spare parts so only cost me like $150 to pull together what I didnāt have
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 3600X, Radeon RX 5700, Phanteks Eclipse P300A Mesh ATX Mid Tower
finally got a car, now let's look to see what I can afford
Hello, I have a friend who wants to build a PC that is made for gaming and has a budget of $500. Thanks for any help.
Well got a few questions
Care about looks, need wifi, any priorities, care about going used for parts?
No, No, play siege, No
That's pretty close, a used GPU instead would cut costs down significantly
And that's without any sales, I'm sure there's case+psu deals right now
He would have to buy parts off of tiktok shop to get something worthwhile
Would he be able to?
That psu is known for catching fire
This would be on tiktok shop, buying each apart wirh a separate account because of the new user coupon, the prices are estimates. Can drop gpu to 6600/6600xt/6650xt https://pcpartpicker.com/list/BZN3wg
Part List - Intel Core i3-12100F, Radeon RX 7600
@cunning dome
Yikes my bad I just picked a cheap one. I guess you get what you pay for š¬š¬š¬
No you're good, was just letting you know
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/WYncxH this would be not on tiktok shop, and I'd do a used gpu.
Part List - Intel Core i3-12100F
Like 1080/ti, 5700xt, 2070/super, 3060 12gb, 6600/xt/6650xt/6700
Anything along those lines
Thank you
Fair warning, games are starting to not support AMD 5000 and nvidia 10 series cards because they lack mesh shaders. Alan Wake 2 is a notable example.
It runs, but at like 20 fps on a GTX Titan X
Wow, good to know
The fact that a 1080 ti, which still holds its own compared to some current gen cards (7600 and 4060) isn't supported by some games is so weird
It feels like intentionally making things obsolete
More like they're finally making use of the new features introduced 5 years ago
It takes about that much time for studios to catch up tbh
And now that the 3060 is the most common GPU on the Steam hardware survey instead of the 1060/1660 they can feel more secure in using those features without losing much of the player base
Yeah it's pretty incredible how common the 1060s are
I'm just surprised the 3060 ti didn't take over the number one spot, with it being the best value 30 series cars
3060 is in basically every prebuilt though
Though the vram on the 3060 and people thinking that's better is also a factor
Yeah true
yk what's sad, my cousin built a $2000 pc, with a 4070
Pain
he could've asked for some help with picking the parts from me or my cousin, but he didn't
For the price of a 4090 you can do a full 7600 7900xtx build
yeah, but it's not going to be the best build
I mean, can do a pretty solid one for $1600
I mean if you don't have a budget
then a 4090 build will outperform everything, just at a cost. A very large cost
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
if it was my build, I would upgrade the cpu, but that's just because of the stuff I do on it
Ah fair
it just seems very unbalanced, with the one of worst cpus and best gpu from amd in the newest generation
I mean...
The 7600 doesn't really limit the xtx much in a lot of scenarios, especially at 4k
7500f yeah, it's just the 7600 but no igpu
most people don't play at 4k though because of diminishing returns of quality
For gaming 7600 is fine with an xtx, the 7800x3d would be noticeably better but just depends what the budget is
I'd want something with more cores
At 1440p it's often less than a 10% bottleneck from what I remember
still a bottleneck nonetheless
If you're doing more than gaming then yeah 13th or 14th gen is worth it
It's impossible for there not to be a bottleneck
13700k bundle from mc would probably be best
Losing 10% of performance though is still a large amount
If you get a 7800x3d then you're losing performance of the cpu
Or 13700k
It's just a matter of what you're spending and what works best for what you're doing
There shall always be bottlenecks
If you need multi core perf, 13th gen cpu and 7900xt would make more sense
Whether it be hardware or software
Don't worry about those nearly as much
More important is the components own performance anyway
That's what you're going to notice the most
Basically, yes a better cpu would get more out of the gpu. But if you have to downgrade the gpu to get the better cpu, then there's not really any point
Unless you buy the cutting edge
But then you'll still be limited by the game's optimization
Which people don't really do anymore
Ahh okay.
So really, no winning
Reuse it for extra pcs or sell it if I don't have a planned use case.
Miners bought them all
And since they were some of the early cards used most of them died
Ahh good point, that and 5700xt were crazy for mining
Iirc 60mh/s + at 120w or less on 3060 ti, and 58mh/s +/- at 90w or so on 5700xt
@mossy venture hi
alright so, first off what's your specs?
gpu, cpu, and do you have an ssd or hard drive?
5950x, 3070ti, 2x NVME 1tb, 36gb ddr3200 or 3600cl ram cant remember which
yeah plenty strong, what's the issue? you said applications are running slow, but whats happening?
is it just really laggy, choppy, is it just while gaming or is it with simple tasks like google too?
it genuinely feels random
usually I have discord, spotify and one application goign
chrome if im doing homework
or a game if im gaming
for ram, have you enabled xmp in bios?
and seemingly randomly my screen with start to lag awful
and are you experiencing any crashes of anything or blue screens?
alright that's good
usually just goes too choppy its unbearable so i restart
alright, so first open windows defender and run a virus scan
do you want the sc of my hwinfo
if you type in security to windows search bar and open windows security, you can go from there
from there virus and threat protection
yup, scanning
42k files scanned no current threats
id like to think im pretty smart about my downloads
im not an ad clicker lol
trust pilot every website i download from at the very least
wait
my ram is way underclocked
wtf
if its cl3200 shouldnt it be at 3200mhz?
@mossy venture should I enable DOCP?
ddr in your ram stands for "double data rate" so if you see 1600 clock speed on that, youre already at 3200 technically
sorry i had to go for a while, im back
1600mhz mean it's running at 3200mhz like he said
next run command prompt as administrator and type the commands
sfc/scannow
chkdsk
and then im gonna get one for you to copy and paste
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /CheckHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /ScanHealth
DISM /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth
kk
Okay noobie here the cpu pump fun does plug into the pump fan connection on the motherboard correct?
Yes
That is for the display, and I think it plugs into a usb header
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/JchDZJ
Cheapest cpu, gpu combo for this. Already have these parts just going to make use out of the for the wife. Trying to stay under $300
Part List - BitFenix Nova Mesh M ARGB MicroATX Mini Tower
Looking at just going 5700g honestly
But I know there are a lot of gpu deals
If gaming 5500 6600xt/6650xt, or 3600/3600x/3700x/5500/5600/x used with whatever used gpu you find
5700G has served me pretty well.
I get around 100fps 1080P in MW2 mid-high settings and similar frame rates in other games assuming they aren't large simulators.
$300 will work?
What cooler do you use on it?
now do it with the igpu
please don't lol 5700g gets obliterated by CPU+GPU combos far below $300
can triple the performance of a 5700g with $100 on the right used deal
1060 6gb going for $40 now
1060 6gb laughs in the face of that 5700g
$60 probably gets you a 3600 for that b550 if you're patient
otherwise $70 does it easily
if you're trying hard enough you can squeeze a 6700xt into that budget
Do you have any links? I don't by used because I don't feel like I know enough.
What are my options new and used? If you have time
that's fair, you can still do a lot better new though
if you want the best used deals you gotta be scouring the market in real time so that's not something we can easily help you with
all the best deals I've gotten were within 1 minute of posting
cause you're competing with people hustling to profit off of this stuff lol
when demand was higher I'd just toss together rigs out of good deals I found and sell them like that
got some tidy 120% profit margins on some of the really insane deals
Cpus I listed above, 3600 would likely be your best option which I'd try to find one around $65, you can buy one new for $84
Anything better than a 3600 if you find it cheaper, why not
2600/x and 2700x wouldn't be bad, not sure what they'd cost
interesting 5500 is apparently out of stock rn
Gpu, 1070/ti, 1080/ti, 1660 super/ ti, 2060/s, 5600xt, anything higher
I'd avoid ryzen 2000
performance reasons aside, b550 boards don't officially support them so it's pretty hit or miss whether or not it boots
just avoid the headache when ryzen 3000 isn't expensive anyways
and is also a lot better
3600 good bit better anyways
remember all the 2700x vs 3600 debates back in the day lol
Can't say that I do lol, I wasn't into pcs till 202
I didn't even know what a cpu was in 2019
same
this was an ongoing debate in early 2020
which is when I got into pcs and bought a 3600x lol
I guess you started out by letting skytech make the choice for you so it wasn't relevant to you back then
Actually I'd say more like 2021 for me, since I bought my pre built in Dec 2020 and I still knew f all
ahh december
Tbf though, I was going to make a custom build purely off of amazon
oh boy
So actually skytech was the better option lmao
corsair vengeance
I would've ended up with a 10400f and 1660 for $1200
Yeah I think towards the start
yeah uhh my friend paid 600 for a gtx 1650 off of amazon before I met her
I about gave the friend who was helping me an aneurysm
With how dumb I was being back then I'm surprised I can say I know more about pcs than he does now
How bad?
I don't know how she managed to get her 3600c18 xmp kit running at 1600 full auto timings with 800 synced fclk
and I don't want to know
Now that's just impressive
5900x @ 800 fclk + ddr4-1600 15-15-15 + incorrectly mounted cooler + backwards cpu fan + enough dust to coat a small village + $600 gtx 1650
I paid rent by overclocking her ram lol
Reading that is a jumpscare
tripled her fps in the only game she played despite the horrifying gpu bottleneck
What game?
val
Ah that makes sense
1650 can run high settings 144 fps iirc
I think 1050 ti is the recommended spec for that
boy let me tell you I was shocked when that corsair ram kit with a samsung c-die sticker turned out to be micron rev. e
I didn't even know corsair had Rev e kits
idk I got 150 fps at 1080p out of my 1gb dell radeon r5 240 in league lmao
dell is relevant there, the normal r5 240 uses 2gb ddr3 but for some reason dell made a variant with 1gb gddr3
Dell things
clocks higher but half the capacity
I guess they just had a surplus of old gddr3 lying around and figured they'd use it on some cheap display adapters
Yāall think this comes with a support bracket?
Only three fan card thatāll fit in my case
I've only seen support brackets come with motherboards
No on both
Sips said to avoid 2000 series since b550, aim for 3600/3600x/3600xt/3700x
3300x would be fine if it's cheap
Assuming usd, 5700xt shouldn't cost over 150
Oh OK sorry
No you're fine
Sorry if I came off rude didn't mean to
https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MBkRwc this is what I had for new
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 3600, Radeon RX 6650 XT
If you can order off tiktok shop you might be able to do cheaper
No your fine. I just apologized. I don't like wasting people's time or making them repeat information if its not necessary
Tiktok shop?
I'm trying to find a 7800 XT that's black and fits in my case
I'm looking at a Sapphire one and the Gigabyte one I just posted earlier
Right I just don't think they come with support brackets
Might have to get a watercool setup for the card and support it that way
That's a bit extreme but hey
Or just stack pennies and tape
3d print a stylized support brick
Really anything works on it tbh. I paired it with a 3070 just to be clear. I would not recommend iGPU gamming.
I might as well just grab the Gigabyte 7800 XT and see how that sits
At 320mm there's only 3 cards on newegg
The nitro+ the sapphire pure and the asus tuf
The steel legend is smaller
ä½ ä»¬å„½
I mean... there's still a right price
$25 at most imo
$40 2700x + $30 b350 + $30 32gb garbage ddr4 = decent cheap $100 server or something
$10 display adapter?
bad idle power draw though
anyways, not ewaste yet at least
$110 is definitely not the right price though lol
you really don't need an included support bracket
can always just buy one or use something you have lying around that happens to fit
I used to run my 1080ti supported by a box of mechanical pencil graphite
ä»ä¹ļ¼
I literally just said what
That's why it wasn't an actual warning

hello, but yes this is english community
Picking up the valve index up for 500 im super happy from coming from the quest 2
@earnest olive I bought a Z270 Apex
Will my rx 6800 be enough for vr on the index at 144hz'
Should be for most games
you know what comes next
mod it and insert 9900KS
With the way the 7600k delid went, itās a possibility
Not sure if I killed it
I think I did tho
no
I was in a physics class with my friend who worked in IT
and he brought in 3 retired 6700K office PCs
prof and I were chill
so I was sitting there in the physics lab watching his demonstration while absentmindedly disassembling the PCs and delidding the 6700Ks
I wish I still had my 6700k
I was getting some interesting looks
You still got any for me? Lol
only one of the three pcs was for me
Smh
one was for the guy's sister and one was for our mutual friend
he just wanted me to help delid them
I think he was expecting me to delid them after lab rather than during lol
we got a 100% on that lab too
but yeah, $12 delid tool from amazon makes it so safe to delid that you don't even need to look at the cpu while delidding it
I shouldāve just gotten a delid tool
I lost that tool but I got some pretty good mileage out of it
it's probably in my house somewhere still
$12 delidded 10 cpus, $1.20 per delid lol
xeon e3-1241v3
i7-4770K
i5-6600K
i7-6700K x3
i7-7700K x3
i7-8700K
I no longer own any of those cpus
you know me alec
hardware exits my hands as quickly as it enters them
Hey just like Linus, he's just dropping it though
Does dropping a screwdriver on my motherboard count
And not a small one like you'd use for an m.2 screw
did it cause damage
Smh
How much does Black Friday usually affect prices on Amazon? Please ping when replying, ty.
Depends on parts, but from what Iāve seen last year when I was thinking about building a PC is fhat (gpu wise) lower prices will slowly climb in the weeks before bf, and when it actually comes it drops back down to the original
A good example rn is prob the 7900 XT imo, it was like 710-720ish a few weeks ago
Itās back up to 799ish now, and will prob drop again back to 720ish fo make it look like a deal
That probably doesnāt answer your question now thinking about it but

I dropped a ram stick once
š
ended up getting a 16GB stick
because i wanted more ram
so i had 8 + 16GB
not ideal
but it was still a upgrade since at the time i was playing ram intensive games
that was back in like 2020
nothing, black friday is a commercial scheme.... prices usually goes up one month before bf, so in bf prices will drop to normal values so it will look like a deal to you
hey guys i just got the ryzen 9 5900x... i have a x570 aorus elite wifi (upgrading board soon) ... what is the best ram i can get ? i rarely game, but i am a graphic designer (mostly illustrator and photoshop - will start video editing soon).... next what is the best board i can get ... im not to familiar with hardware, im getting so many different answers online
Upgrading the motherboard will be the biggest waste of money, only reason to upgrade motherboards realistically is if you're upgrading cpu and moving sockets or if the board is actually broke
id say some 64gb of 3200c16 ram sticks
Depending on the video editing resolution etc, 128gb could be an option
what brands should i choose
But if going 64gb get a 2x32gb kit so you can upgrade if you want
64 and then upgrade from that
Doesn't matter they're all the same realistically, the best ram to get is the cheapest for the speed and size you want
still me thinks that he wants our expert opinion on brands and prices
you are da man pato
Only 3 companies actually make the ram, everyone else just puts the heatspreaders on them
however.... unless you are willing to buy now then we can only suggest, cause prices wildly changes from day to day
thanks guys i appreciate this ... i have the patriot viper steel at the moment... looking to up from 16gb cards to 4 32gb cards, but i keep hearing brands like G.Skill Trident Z Neo , etc
ohhh okay cool cool
patriot are good ones, gskill too
yes im looking to buy within a few hours .. not sure if i should stick with patriot or try soemthing on here https://www.cgdirector.com/best-pc-for-photo-editing/
Brand doesn't matter when it comes to most things pcs, but especially ram because the only companies that actually make ram are samsung, (sk) hynix and micron
Every ram companies just buys from them and wacks a piece of metal or plastic on it ^
Are you in the US?
sorry wrong link i meant to send this one https://whatifgaming.com/best-ram-for-ryzen-9-5900x/
and yes NJ
@austere parrot https://pcpartpicker.com/product/yRQcCJ/mushkin-enhanced-redline-stiletto-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-mrf4u320gjjm32gx2
They're the best value for 64gb atm
you can start with those, 2x32 that pato linked
and if somehow in the future you feel the need for more, then you buy an extra 2x32
i appreciate you guys big time ! i may just stick with https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08688GFPD?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1 the patriot for a few bucks more... ive had them for about 3 years now , and i just feel good about it .. lol
guys i may have just one more question before i have to head out for work
maybe two actually .... gpu ? im running a gt 750 ti at the moment because my toddler accidently dropped my evga 3060 when i had it out for cleaning
thats a nice card, i have one as well š
The ones you linked me too show out of stock and 3600mhz cl18 for me, at those high speeds you're better off running at 3200mhz just because the more ram you have the harder it is to run a stable high frequency
So it'd be these but theres honestly 0 difference
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/vPLwrH/patriot-viper-steel-64-gb-2-x-32-gb-ddr4-3200-cl16-memory-pvs464g320c6k
i believe they are out of stock but can get them individually... but thank you for the info im trying to learn and take this all in ... im super stoked to have fround this group ... ive been busting my brain for DAYS
okay great .
Getting them individually isn't the best idea
you always get them in pairs
i have an oppurtunity to get an rx 570 8gb for like 60 bucks ,,, or should i get something like the 3060 again
deff more expensive... but at the moment i just care to gas it up really quick, so i can blow through a few pc gigs , i dont want to wait for restocks
okay thank you
that depends on your needs, the rx570 is a tad better than the 750ti, but still way underpowered compared to a 3060, 60 bucks is a great price for that card tho, but older af
okay i guess i have somethings to think about . i dont care to blow the bank right now but i would deff like this pc to MOVVEEE
well, if you have more time later you can ask the guys here aagain on your gpu dilemma, but you need to help us with how much money are you willing to spend on your gpu and the resolution you will be using it
depending on your budget we can point you in the right direction
i appreciate this ! ... im not to sure about budget , maybe 300 350 tops
i dont really like used parts but im open to them from amazon this time? hmm not sure
you can get a 6700xt brand new at about 300usd these days
a tad better than a 3060ti
however if you use apps like blender then you should get the 3060ti at about 320-350
my last question before i have to run... this is my current setup in a nut shell : x570 aorus elite wifi - 5900x & Thermalright Frozen Notte 240 - 750ti - 3 nvme drives (p41 sk hynix 1tb - 500gb firecuda 520 - and a super cheap 1tb crucial nvme ) what should my psu be?
thanks a bunch !! been seing and wondering about the 6700 and the 3060ti
650w can work just fine on that setup including the 6700/60ti, 750w if you want some spare
i try so hard to figure this out and just go in loops , believe me guys im not lazy ! lol ... i most deff appreciate your help. i was in another server for almost a month and couldnt get this much help/info
niiiceee ! you guys rock !!! i appreciate it
rx 570 is much faster than 750ti, but that's besides the entire discussion above anyway
indeed, on par with a 1060
yes i believe so as well i was just playing with one for about 2 weeks ... gave it back to my litle brother .. looking to repurchase one of my own . thank you 1
for 60 bucks is a good deal
its xfx branded , should it matter .. 8gb
No like it's a bad idea because technically sticks are only rated to run at their xmp speeds in their kit, so best chance of them running fine is getting a 2x32gb kit then another 2x32gb kit because a 1x32gb stick would have a higher chance of being unstable
oooohhh wow ! thanks i didnt realize
brands most of the time only matter for aesthetics, most of them are on ok standards
maybe you can find rx 480/580 for that much tho
For video editing, something like the 3060 (make sure it's the 12gb, the 8gb one is a scam) is actually one of the best options still especially on a budget
according to pcpp there are 3060tis are 320-350
ah video editing
Would be a huge upgrade if for that ^ over any of the amd cards tbh
yeah nvidia by default lol
Ye but the extra vram ACC means 3060 can be better
the 3060 12gb is the winner
okay great!.. guys i appreciate you all . BIIG time , but im pressing my luck now lol ive got to get on the road... ill be back, hopefully not with so many questions lol ... thanks again guys ... have a blessed day you all !
have a nice day and drive safely š
No problems happy to help
rip.
Thank God for the Honey extension
Anyone here know about polaroid cameras?
Question, when anyone takes a look at this list of components https://newegg.io/ce08c7d is there anything you would radically change? or is there anything missing on the list to complete the build? Like am I still missing some power cables or internal cables?
Yeah thats pretty expensive for what you're getting
What are you using the pc for?
Yeah for $2k you probably can fit a 4080
mostly gaming and streaming
Can fit an xtx in $1600
Alright few follow up questions
Are you absolutely dead set on an LCD display on the aio
Or did you just throw that aio in
Bc corsair aios are really expensive and aren't great
no every part is changeable
Kk cool
Is there a certain look you're going for?
I saw the aios white, and the ram is rgb
but budget is around 2000-2200$ and yes just a clean look either black or white
I'm assuming white + rgb with a glass side panel
Oh even easier
Do you need wifi or are you using ethernet
wifi is essential yes
Alright perfect, just a few min
Wait I lied one more question
What do you think of this mobo ASRock B650 LiveMixer ATX AM5 Motherboard (B650 LiveMixer) - PCPartPicker
https://pcpartpicker.com/product/ckhFf7/asrock-b650-livemixer-atx-am5-motherboard-b650-livemixer looks wise
It's a really good mobo but it doesn't really fit the black or white aesthetic
So if you don't like it there's plenty of other options
Actually nvm a diff mobo is on sale too
yea this one screams a bit too much for my taste š
even though i reckon with RGB you could actually get a quite cool effect inside the case
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Phanteks Eclipse G360A ATX Mid Tower
First option
I can give a couple other options but I gotta drive first
Aio isn't needed at all btw
214xt would be plenty
White option https://pcpartpicker.com/list/NVTBvj
Part List - AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Fractal Design Pop Mini Air MicroATX Mid Tower
No good white psu at a reasonable price though, might want extensions since black cables w white build
these are great suggestions thank you!
besides these parts lists, would you normally order stuff power cables / internal cables etc? or is that all usually included in the components delivered parts?
like would you normally order thermal paste too?
All the cables you need are included, you can get extensions or replacement cables if you want a certain look like colored or RGB cables.
The cooler includes thermal paste
You can absolutely run a X3D and XTX off a 750W
Thanks Fal'cie
Yeah true I forgot to look at 750s, ty
Ok just got home, one more list that's purely price/perf (and cheaper) https://pcpartpicker.com/list/4DHh9c
Part List - AMD Ryzen 5 7600, Radeon RX 7900 XTX, Montech AIR 903 MAX ATX Mid Tower
thank you for all this effort Bacca š this is great
Np! It's weird but I actually enjoy making them
It's like a challenge to make the best list for your needs/budget, its fun
Weirdo non-techie
I used to do it a few hours every day and it was so exhausting in another server, probably bc I was dealing with 11yr olds who are diehard o11d fans
Same
In my case I was dealing with broke kids that don't understand that spending a bit more on a power supply means their pc won't blow up and then they'll have to spend more money to replace it
Nothing wrong with being broke but like
Better to save up and get a good psu than get a crap psu
For the people I was dealing with, they usually understood when I said it would blow up, but for the rest of the parts most of them would be Corsair fanboys without even trying their parts
Not just value, part quality as well
They'd want like i7/gt730 builds with Corsair rgb
Some of them yeah
CX Green š
Peripherals too if I can get them at a good price
Nice
Doesn't the 730 get outperformed by the intel hd?
Yeah
ahahah
It hurts me to see $1000 lists with like a 1060 when it could've fit a 1070
All because it had like 6 corsair rgb fans
1070 in a 1k build š
Time period is around 2018-2020
I've mostly done recent lists around 2021-2022
yeah I haven't done lists in a while
in techsource discord server
I'm really rusty
Yeah, I took a long break from making lists
I just pop in from time to time to help out
It takes a lot of market and hardware knowledge to make a good list
I see some new guys in there every once in a while giving out some really crappy advice
Oh god
This one guy was convinced that the 10700k was better then a 13600k
I'm really glad that this server's got some really knowledgeable people when it comes to parts lists
agreed, probably because it's a smaller server too
lol he never googled "10700k vs 13600k benchmarks"
he said it had more cores or some crap like that
I mean
"better for most things"
What was he doing with the cpu tho
Cores might be valid if his use case could utilise all the cores
oh
If it's gaming then no
10700k has like 8 cores I think
hold on
yeah 8 cores for 10700k and 13600k has 14
ahahhaha
so no argument is valid
I'm gonna spend some time and see where that convo was
it was about a year ago iirc
sometime there
It's gonna take me a while
can someone help me with my build i need to make sure i wont run into any compatability issues
maybe some pointers
Go ahead and ask
found the guy
Where do I find a f-usb connector on my motherboard
look at the manual
it's front usb, and for usb 3 it's usually on the right side of the mobo
I got more
Not there
I saw and thereās no pictures
what mobo you got? and what case
k hold on
Iām trynna connect my WiFi
wifi card?
Ye
Also for Bluetooth
it should be on the bottom of the mobo, next to the hd audio I think
It says for Bluetooth need to connect f usb
Where?
Also itās alright if I remove the gpu right?
Iāll put it back
Yea
to something else anyways
Is there one more
hold on
it's just front usb 2
Wdym)
