Those oc really good

wheat lintel
#

It’s mostly just tightening up the timings

signal belfry
#

Expect the trcd and trp to be loose

wheat lintel
#

I’m at 3866 mt/s with everything else set to DOCP

signal belfry
#

And a high trfc

signal belfry
#

@wheat lintel I’d set 1.5v and work with it

wheat lintel
#

Ok thanks

zenith palm
#

Yeah that gpu score looks better

wheat lintel
#

I wonder how much more itd take to break 19k overall

signal belfry
#

Wait did u ever do a repad?

wheat lintel
#

Not yet

#

It’s a FTW3 ultra so the stock pads should already be pretty good

signal belfry
#

What are temps?

#

I wouldn’t try vram overclocking if it’s in the 90s

wheat lintel
#

Core temps were around 65 iirc, mem temps I don’t remember off the top of my head, not at my PC rn

signal belfry
#

Basically the same as any other stock pad

potent fiber

Alec just hoping it's ftw3 quality. wink wink

wheat lintel
#

What’s TRFC2 and TRFC4?

#

I’m not seeing any talk of them really online

Wait nvm

they hopefully dont do anything because trfc2 gets triggered at like 80c, and 4 close to max operating spec

Not quite

The washer mod aims to increase mounting pressure

The contact frame makes mounting pressure evenly distributed

@wheat lintel there’s nothing to gain from a timespy score passing 19k bro

#

U should do a repad instead

More gpu oc gains 😎

i doubt it matters for his case

Just checked my vram temps and they’re maxing at 70

wheat lintel

I was shutting my pc off right as I sent the pic so I didn’t feel like launching discord

#

Idk why but I feel like 72C is low for OCed GDDR6X

#

My room temp is 14-15C so maybe that could be why it’s so low?

potent fiber
#

Of course, especially if case airflow is decent. 100% gpu fans too, lol

sudden torrent
#

Yeah that's pretty low ambient, probably plays a factor

wheat lintel
#

I’m lucky I have a smallish room with an AC rated for a lot larger room in it

#

All this room really needs is maybe a 4000, maybe 5000 BTU AC, it has a 12,000 BTU unit in it

#

And I’m running it in a Lancool II Mesh so airflow is pretty damn good

zenith palm
short blade
#

even if mining with ambient that low and good pads it should be in the low-mid 70s

#

I get 60c over ambient with 3090 mining at 80% fan speed and good pads

He can probably drop 5-10c with a repad but there’s no point doing it at those temps

wheat lintel
#

Yeah those temps were with stock pads

#

This AC was easily my best investment for my room

#

Dropped my temps from around 90-100F to about half of that

wheat lintel

So gimmick it is

#

Why does ramOC have to be so damn annoying

#

Bruh I can’t even launch XMP for some unknown reason now

sudden torrent
#

That's when you clear cmos

#

If you have other bios settings set too you can save a pre-overclock profile to save time. Memory overclocks you'll be resetting quite a bit.

wheat lintel
#

Don’t know what I did, GPU isn’t OCed at all

#

It’s just artifacting out of nowhere

signal belfry
#

@wheat lintel might be ram

#

If the trfc is to low

#

It might artifact

#

And the trcd and trcp

wheat lintel
#

Ram is at XMP

#

Wait no, it wasn’t

#

Yeah you definitely were right about that, I’m running time spy rn and no artifacts or anything after I brought ram back to XMP

#

Wait I’m stupid, GDDR6X wouldn’t artifact right?

proven canopy
#

It sure will when you overclock it

signal belfry
#

Only degrades performance

proven canopy
#

Yeah - you'll often see a performance regression before you get screen confetti

signal belfry
#

I went up to 1600 before and no confetti b4 lol

#

Just crashes after that

potent fiber
#

That's part of how gddr6(x) is, "smart" in a way to do it's own error correction or w/e & simply just reduce performance in a sense(when clocked too much). kekleo

signal belfry
#

I think that’s thermal trotting

potent fiber
#

Nah I'm really referring to the clockspeed. Something can be clocked high w/o thermal throttling. Either way though, we're losing performance. kekpepecry. Edit: specifically talking gddr6(x), not a cpu or gpu core.

signal belfry
#

Prob effective clock going down

#

I remember I hit a 5.4fhz effective on a 5ghz cpu oc b4

potent fiber
#

Yea don't even ask me about those cpu effective clocks and such. I'm still back to my "3770". kekleo

kind walrus
#

Effective is like, I wanna say a good phrase for it is real world speed?

#

Say the cpu reports 5.2GHz

#

But it's not always running that, it's bouncing up to that at an extremely fast rate and bouncing down to say just 5.10 GHz

#

Effective is like "This is mostly the speed it's actually doing, 5.15GHz"

kind walrus
#

This mightn't be the best example but effective clocks is a good way to observe how fast it's actually going and if youre clock stretching

sudden torrent
#

The issue with G6X slowing down before it crashes is a safety measure. The built in error correction can only handle so many errors. Each error it has to correct takes a few clock cycles to fix. Once you overload its capacity for error correction, that's when you get artifacts.

kind walrus
#

This is totally why you don't scale memory OC as high as you can go on Ampere, there's a sweet spot

potent fiber
#

It's also why you use something like Superposition to note how performance is going during an OC (of the vram).

kind walrus
#

Ye or time spy

#

Like my 3090 scales memory way over 1200 but the sweet spot going by score consistency is around +650

signal belfry
#

Yea unigine engine 8k is a good way of checking vram scores

kind walrus
#

Same can be said for mining, there's a sweet spot for best hash rate much like an undervolt

signal belfry
#

Actually

#

Mining is suppose to handle unstable vram

#

Making it stable

kind walrus
#

Oh, I probably don't know about that, I only ever did a little bit of it

sudden torrent
#

My GPU is stable mining at +1200

#

Gaming stable is closer to 700

#

Depending on the game

kind walrus
#

For me I had a stable 118MH/s at around 750

#

I also had an undervolt curve but I can't remember it off the top of my head lol, it was like, 250W power draw?

#

'twas a hot boi

sudden torrent
#

When I had the (garbage tier) 3090 that's about what I was drawing for 122mh

kind walrus
#

Actually that might even be the 3080

#

I can't even remember if it was the 3090

#

They both have similar memory sweet spots

kind walrus

#

sudden torrent
#

Nah everything about it was bad

kind walrus
#

The eagle card I have is pretty meh on temps too

sudden torrent
#

Well ok, the core was nice and cool on the 3090 but the vram thermal throttled in gaming lol

#

And that was before and after a pad swap

kind walrus
#

Yeah sounds like bad contact unless the backplate wasn't good for heatsoak

signal belfry
#

I did+1600 or 1400

#

And +1000 gaming

kind walrus
#

My eagle gets up to like near 100C in games and that's with pad swap too

potent fiber
#

Gigglebite moment

sudden torrent
#

I can do some games at +1000 and some I can't have any OC at all

signal belfry
#

I could do 1400 gaming but id get random crashes

kind walrus
#

I mean Avi had his own heat issues on his gigabyte 6900XT with that 30C hotspot delta, that was posted in here even lol

signal belfry
#

And I wasn’t to sure bc I also did an undervolt

signal belfry
kind walrus

But I ain't giving up my eagle. That card survived a P-GM psu. It's a trophy kekw

overclocking

#

gotta get my chip nice and cold

signal belfry
#

Mhz let’s down a lil bit

signal belfry
#

So uh 2160mhz isn’t war zone stable

#

Ram in a game for 3 mints

#

Looked fine till it crashed

#

Can a gpu run more stable when it’s cooler?

#

Sad 2130mhz noises

#

Boost to 2145 mhz sometimes

#

So it’s stable at war zone 4k

#

I think my bin was decent

#

It was only air cooled

#

Is it ok to daily 1075mv tho?

#

So going to 2160mhz makes it crash

#

Anything below seems to be fine

#

It ocs so weird

#

So the boost clock changes as temp changes which makes sense

#

But in lower demanding games it makes the clock go to high

potent fiber
#

That's part of design. 1075mV is probably fine, not much above stock peak volts. Sometimes 4k isn't the best for tuning. You've noticed by how lower loads can let the clock go too high & maybe crash. PepePopcorn

signal belfry
#

I think I’ll just set a profile for 4k

anyone know what a good voltage would be to undervolt my 3080

zenith palm

You want to use a voltage frequency curve - here's a guide although for stress test I'd use 3d mark timespy (extreme if you have the paid version)
https://youtu.be/zUkPAVcb9Xc

signal belfry
#

@short blade

#

it would sustain 2145-2175 mhz on the 1st graphivs test then it would go down in the 1900s on other ones, pretty sure the power limit is stopping me from passing 19k, but I don’t really care, nvm I passed 19k in an old score

potent fiber

If the PL limit on the 1st gfx test was lowering the core, that shows once again how an UV can/would counter the PL a bit. Pepe_cheers Stock voltage on most of the 30 series is quite generous & we know the 3090 (ti) have a non-small wattage.

short blade
#

not with an FE

1900 looks about right

I sustain like 2010 in 3dmark but it takes 600 watts to do so

you could do that with shunt mod

stock 3090 does not score 14.6k

even my 3070 beats 14.6k

static oasis

faint tangle

14.6k is super low

short blade
potent fiber

Easy enough to just search 3090 on the the futuremark site to get common scores, and the gfx score is a better comparison. "Total" score is impacted by cpu & ram.

static oasis

short blade
